Ai no Kotodama is a drama that focuses on jealousy, insecurity, and trust. It’s strangely relatable and realistic enough that anyone can place theirself in the characters’ situation and understand what they’re going through. The couple, Ootani and Tachibana are fun and also oddly relatable. You can see yourself in either one of these men. That’s what really brings out the movie’s charm. This situation is so realistic, but executed in such a fun and charming way that it makes the movie both entertaining and incredible on so many different levels. Naturally, there’s the trope of the female who is the cause of all of the problems in the first place, but that’s somewhat to be expected. It can be annoying, but at the same time I think they pull it off well enough in this film that it doesn’t seem like she’s a complete villain. Regardless of that, this movie is worth the watch. It’s fun, easy-going, and perfect to fulfill your romance/drama needs!
