OK, so I was curious if you guys have fantasies with manga/anime characters or am I the only one? From R-18 yaoi game to shounen-ai (?) anime. If it can even be called shounen-ai... I was so disappointed in Togainu No Chi anime that I just wanted to rip apart the insides of each member of the production. Without exaggerating. :cuteonion43: Sure, nobody was expecting the pretty and smooth illustrations the BL game presented us with or even the awesome art style of the manga. However!, what we got was not even at a level we can call average art/animation. It was simply a-t-r-o-c-i-o-u-s. They were able to transform gorgeous bishounen into something alike to walking sticks barely human appearance wise. It's not even funny. Let us take a look at the graphics of the game, the manga, the trailer of the anime and the anime itself. One cannot even compare. I totally agree with JenovaVII All those components make a whole and if one of them is missing, you would certainly feel it at some point while reading the manga. I'm not saying that I only like mangas that take all these elements to perfection... I even read lots of mangas that were having only one of those and even liked them. But, for a manga to be on the edge of perfection, it does need all those features.

In my opinion every factor has a certain degree of important that contributes to the manga as a whole. While some have more influence than other, each one matters individualy. For me, what's more important is the plot line, the art and the character development. While I may not like the particular art style on its own, if it fits the story, and portrays its depth and can convey it's atmosphere to the reader, I will certainly love it infinitely more than a manga whose art is drop dead beautiful but, like a piece of certain puzzle does not fit in other that not its original, it doesn't complement the story and instead just looks like it does not belong there, giving the manga an akwardness while reading that simply should not exist. This factor is so crytical for me that if it is not, at least minimaly, satisfied, it's reason enough for me to drop that manga.:msn_red_fox 16 I say this because for me yaoi is not just gay porn, that I read simply because I want to see hot bishonen having hot butt sex. Of course there is that too, there's not use in denying it. But I love to death yaoi that has great art, great art whose fits the plot, plot that is exciting and interesting, with characters that make you laugh until your throat is sore, and cry until you can't take the headache, and smirk as you think you've seen the hotest guy in creation. :msn_red_fox 9 The plot is essential. It needs to be interesting, captivating and unpredictable. As long as my interest is satisfied, and I enjoy it enough to be chained by it and forced to sit and read as if my life is dependent on it, I won't mind the (extreme) predictability that much. A~ah it does feel nice to be surprised with some plot twists :Red_fox11: At last, the dreaded topic (!) of character evolution throughout the story... Most of the times there is none, and I almost despair. :Red_fox12: Sometimes there is some here and there, and it brings a smile to my face. Rarely there is a good amount, and I thank the master mind behind it for existing. I find a nice feeling of completion in a yaoi manga when the characters grow with their experiences and/or journeys, either psychologicaly or physicaly. I do not really mind the pshysical part per see, what matters the most is indeed the psychological. A great yaoi manga forces you to tear up at the angst, and tear up once again because you cannot stop laughing, and blush at the smexy guys and equally smexy sex scenes, and gasp in surprise at the climax of the story. :Red_fox: It's extremely rare to find a yaoi like that, unfortunaly. But when you have a taste of one of them, yaoi with only porn as a proposit won't satisfy you anymore.
