I'm looking for a novel that is historical fiction with a dash of steampunk. My memory isn’t spot on and its been years since I've read it. So please bear with me. The main characters have an arranged marriage. The older one is a lord/inventor who also develops weaponry/vehicles for the military. He also likes to sleep around. He has an arranged marriage with a younger gentleman. They develop their relationship a bit and begin to care for one another. Unfortunately, the inventor starts to miss the wild life. He goes to a men’s club with his friend and ends up with a barmaid on his lap. His husband walks in, sees him attempting to cheat, and leaves. Their relationship goes sour, and the younger man is hurt that he actually gave the marriage a chance and that he started to love his husband. The inventor tries to apologize, but his husband isn't having it. At the time this was happening a person from the military comes to visit the estate to request for tanks to use out on the field. He's a general (I think) who has a crush on the husband and the inventor gets jealous. Because of his jealousy and the fact that he thinks he has lost his husband, the inventor decides he should test out the tank himself. The test involved the tank being shot at and the people riding in the tank being able to shoot back because of a small slit in the front. Needless to say the inventor gets shot while driving the tank. He almost dies because of it. The husband freaks out and after the incident the couple makes up. And that’s all I remember. The warm, soft breeze had blown with gentle force past many bodies before it planted it's soft kisses on the cheeks of many. The bustling medieval market place housed stalls and tents of many kinds whilst the people of nearby farm villages and towns gathered to trade and barter goods for goods and goods for services. The people swarmed stalls like insects would swarm fallen honey or sweets and touched the products, poking and prodding them with their dirty, work worn hands. The cobblestone beneath the cloth wrapped and fully protected armored feet wore down every shuffle and every step from the beings using it to avoid direct contact with the uneven dirt it rested upon. The farmer's market was at this spot once every year, ready to serve anyone and everyone willing to pay their prices whether it be in gold or other wares. The guards of the capital were there was well, keeping an eye on the bustling crowd and ready to catch any lowlife who dares to step out of line. The guards walked in pairs as they patrolled the busy square, keeping an eye and ear out for any unusual sounds of scuffling and pinching. Two guards passed by an ally way on their way to complete their tenth round for that day, only the one closes to the opening took a quick glance inside the dark passage between the buildings before continuing on with his duty. Xanis peered his head out from behind a corner as he watched the shadows of the two men slowly fade as they walked away from the ally. The blonde half elf sighed relieved as he looked over to his friend who was almost holding his breath while he clutched stolen food under his ragged jacket. "It's clear." Xanis whispered, his deep purple eyes giving his friend the reassuring look the other needed. The younger male sighed relieved as well as he sank down to the ground and let the food fall onto a large wood plank. "Thanks Xan, I couldn't have done this without you." He said as he handed a roll of bread to Xanis after the blonde had sat down across from him. Xanis smiled and took the bread, tearing it in half and giving the other half back. "No problem Dread. I know how hard it is being an unholy wretch in the middle of an Elven run kingdom." He said smiling. Dread smiled back and gently took the bread and ate it slowly, savoring the taste of the yeast filled starch. "I just can't believe after so many years they decide to hunt hell hounds and shifters now." He said, his mouth slightly full of bread. Xanis nodded in agreement as he tore small bits off his own piece and slowly ate them. Dread looked up at Xanis. "You're technically royalty, maybe you could talk some sense into them?" He asked looking at his friend with hopeful brown eyes. Xanis shook his head. "Sorry Dread I can't. I would be shot on site. There's no room for Ambrosian Cursed in these lands anymore. You know I have been running from these people all my life I can't just waltz up and say hey I am royalty I want you to stop being such ass-tards to these hell hounds and shape shifters." Xanis said, mocking a gruff mannered nobleman. Dread couldn't help but giggle. Xanis smiled and looked at his friend, enjoying the sound of laughter coming from the other's lips; a sound he hasn't heard in months ever since the no hell hounds law had been passed. Ever since--. "Xanis?" Xanis blinked and looked at Dread who's voice had snapped him out of his thoughts. "Yeah?" He asked the other. Dread stared at his friend for a moment and shook his head. "Nothing, just worried about you. you've been going into thought a lot and dazing out. Even when it's a bad time. Is there something on your mind that you're not telling me?" He asked as he continued to eat small portions of the bread in his hands. Xanis sighed and shook his head. "No Dread, I'm fine. I'm just tired is all. Let's finish dinner at home ok?" Xanis suggested as he looked up at the other. Dread nodded and stood up, helping Xanis pick up the food before they walked toward the south end of the village. "Youknow you can tell me anything right?" Dread said looking over at the taller male. Xanis nodded. "I know Dread, I know. Let's just get home and eat and go to bed. We have a lot of foraging to do tomorrow before the winter months set in. We don't want it to be like last winter now do we?" Xanis asked smirking over at Dread. Dread shook his head. "No, but last winter wasn't that bad..well minus the frostbite." Dread has replied as he thought about the harsh months they almost starved to death. Then two had finally come upon a small hut just outside the town limits and Dread opened the door since he had less food in his arms. They both walked in and set the food on the table. Dread went over and closed the door, sliding the metal lock into place and moving the small rodent chewed sofa in front of the door. Xanis grabbed a small bread roll and an apple before walking over to a cot in the back corner of the room. He lay down on the stiff spring filled mattress and stared up at the ceiling, listening to the rusted coils under him repeatedly creak under his weight. He looked over at Dread and saw the young one did the same. He smiled. "Night Dread." He said. Dread smiled and looked over at Xanis. "Night Xan." Dread reached up and pulled a rope, a large dark sheet then fell and covered the only window around the whole shack, covering the two in safe and comforting darkness. Xanis ate a small amount of food before he drifted into a dreamless sleep.

Status: Discontinued Author Note: As fair warning, I have never even expected I would write something like this so soon. The inspiration just hit me instantly and BAM! I couldn't stop typing anymore. This is seriously impromptu. The idea of writing a fic about BabaTaiki did cross my mind in the past but I wanted to focus more on writing MisuShin so this is rather super unexpected. Disclaimer: I own nobody. Baba and Taiki belong only to themselves. This story is seriously impromptu. It's also my very first fic to write about the actors themselves. Not as MisuShin. I don't even have a title for this. LOL – written by yojichan ----------------------------------- Baba: Hey, I thought you'll be hanging out at Taki's place tonight. Taiki: No. He stood me up. We were supposed to meet with some of the guys from work. I dunno.. Baba: Are you okay? Taiki: I'm fine. I'm just a little tired. How are you? Fancy seeing you here alone in this bar. Your friends stood you up too? Baba: Nothing like that. I just thought I try to relax alone. Taiki: Hey...am I bothering you? Baba: (laughs) No! No! Not at all. It's actually great to see you. Taiki: You too. I am actually thinking about going home to visit my family and stay there for a few days...I dunno...maybe a few weeks give or take. (pauses) Baba-chan...what are you thinking? Baba: (jolts) Huh? Me? Oh nothing...I was just thinking..maybe I'd do the same. I've been hanging out with friends most of the time..all this nonstop work coming in. Not that I'm complaining. I mean I like being busy. Taiki: But you haven't made any clear plans about how to take the time off did you? Baba: (chuckles) You got me! Taiki: How long do you plan on staying in this bar? Baba: Are you going anywhere? Taiki: (smiles) No. Baba: Then keep me company then. Unless you prefer a karaoke bar? I know one somewhere close by. The owner is a good friend of mine. We won't be harassed there. Taiki: (laughs) oh no! No! No! I'm not really in the mood for rowdiness. I told you I'm tired, right? Baba: Oh yeah...sorry. I just remembered we used to sing random things and dance like idiots during breaks. Taiki: Yeah..good times. Baba: Good times! Let's make a toast to that! Taiki: Kanpai! ------- Taiki: Baba-chan...you could stay at my place, you know. Baba: (tipsy) Now why would I do that? Taiki: You're in no condition to go home. Besides you live very far from here. Baba: And you do? Taiki: Well, at least I'm still a bit sober enough to stay awake to get us a cab. Baba: (groggy) Okay. I'm sorry for the bother. Taiki: Alright, let me help you up. ---------- Baba: Ojamashimasu...nice place you got here. Taiki: Thanks. Just relax on the couch and I'll get you some water. Baba: Coffee. Taiki: No. You need sleep, man. Baba: They say coffee is good for hangovers. Taiki: Wait till morning for that at least. Baba: Don't worry..I won't puke here at your place. Taiki: I didn't think you would. I could get you a fresh shirt if you like. Baba: I'm sorry for the inconvenience. Taiki: None at all. -------- Baba: Thanks for letting me stay here last night. Taiki: No problem. More coffee? Baba: No. Now that I think about it, there has got to be another way to cure a hangover than coffee. I mean..I don't even like this stuff. Taiki: Haha! That reminded me when we were still shooting for Pure. You hated the stuff but you drank it anyways. Baba: Yeah. But I like this omelet though. Tastes good. Taiki: Taki gave me the recipe for it. I hope I didn't put too much mushrooms. Baba: No. It's fine..it's fine. I like it. This is better than coffee. Taiki: Good. Baba: Hey...I know I've mentioned this before but I know it's different when I will say it and there's just the two of us here. Taiki: What is it? Baba: (sighs) I'm really glad I got to work with you in the movie. Taiki: (smiles) Me too. It was fun. Baba: You were amazing. I've worked with other actors, most of them have become my friends. (pauses) But you're amazing. Really good. Taiki: (chuckles) I just brought you to my home to work off the hangover and you're getting all sentimental on me, Baba-chan. Baba: (laughs) Mattaku..I mean it. I really do. Taiki: Well, since we're on the subject. I'd like to say the feeling is mutual. I've been in this industry since I was a child and I've had my share of working with really talented people, surrounded by it actually. Yet one day you meet someone who makes you feel really comfortable considering the kind of roles we portrayed. Baba: Yeah. Taiki: I'm glad we met. Baba: (smiles) Me too. Taiki: So is it true? Baba: What's true? Taiki: You saying that I looked like someone you could love. Baba: I didn't know you liked reading showbiz magazines. Taiki: I don't. But one of the wardrobe staff told me about it. Baba: (grins) You want me to prove it? Taiki: (laughs) Stop joking! Forget I asked. Baba: (inhales deeply) I wasn't joking. Taiki: Ah. Baba: Like I said..do you me to prove it? Taiki: Why would I do that? Baba: Just because... Taiki: (chuckles) You're being weird, you know. Baba: I'm not the one who started this. Taiki: Well, I did so I'm ending it before it gets any weirder. Baba: This isn't the movies. We're just two guys having breakfast. Taiki: While the other guy wants to prove something the other guy isn't prepared to accept. Baba: Are you scared? Taiki: (silence) Baba: I'll take that as a yes. Taiki: Do you always take silence as a yes? Baba: Not always. They sometimes could also mean a No. Taiki: Maybe. Baba: Is this one of those times? Taiki: Maybe. Baba: Do you always talk cryptic like this? Taiki: No. I'm usually straightforward. Baba: You sound lost sometimes like you're all over the place. Taiki: That's just my personality. I can't help it. You however is very noisy. Baba: I can be. That's just my personality. I can't help it either. Taiki: You're awfully tame today though. Baba: Maybe I still feel the buzz from last night. Maybe my head still hurts. Taiki: Do you wanna stay longer here? Baba: Will you let me? Taiki: Are you gonna answer the question I asked earlier? Baba: You're still thinking about it? Taiki: A direct answer would be nice. Baba: I thought we liked speaking in codes. Taiki: No, I don't. Baba: If I kissed you now, would that prove anything? Taiki: How will this talk end up with you kissing me? Baba: Because that's exactly what I'm about to do right this very second. Taiki: Ahh..Baba-chan...mmmmpphh.. Baba: (catches breath) You understand now? Taiki: (gasps) Hmmm...what? Baba: I said...(huffs) you understand now? Taiki: Yeah..yeah...I do. (licks lips) How the hell did you learn to kiss like that? Baba: Practice. Taiki: Are you serious? Baba: I have my ways and you were quite nice to kiss so why not? Taiki: You were too. I thought I'd just follow my instincts and go with the flow. Baba: I think we pulled it off quite well. Taiki: I think we did, Baba-chan...I think we did. Baba: (grins) Would you like another round? Taiki: (aghast) Are you serious? Baba: Well...? Taiki: (smiles) Maybe. ----------------------- AFTERTALK: OMG! what do you guys think? dear lord..what possessed me to write this? LOL

I am simply amazed at the amount of incredibly talented writers we have in YO and I'm wondering if it was okay to have their works exhibited for our reading pleasure in a separate forum instead of having to put it under the 18- and 18+ BL fanfiction forums. This way it will not be confusing for the readers who are expecting to read an original fiction but find a fanfiction was posted instead. Thank you so much. I hope my request is not too much trouble.
