Len96x
Rudolph dragged a large wooden chest inside the back of a shop, through the door of the storage. Finally inside with the monstrosity at the right spot, he let a long sigh escape he had be holding in while trying to push the damn thing next to the wheels. He should've used those. "Gramps, I'm done! Can I leave now?!" He yelled to the front of their shop where his grandfather was cleaning a clock that was already cleaned five times that day. "Is the last box inside?" The old man grunted back. "Yea-eah!" Rudolph called back, tapping his foot in annoyance. "Alright, then you're done." Rudolph whooped with a grin as he left the house again and headed towards the rocky coasts of Italy. The sun was just a few centimeters above the ground which gave him less than two minutes to get to the rocks. He fell down on his usual place and stared at the horizon. Beautiful, he thought, but not as beautiful as yesterday. After all, sunsets are never the same. He stayed at the edge of the trusty rocks until the sky was a dark purple before he climbed back up and left for home. Again another boring day finished. ~Ashton~
Ashton sat on the ship, his back was tot he window as he gazed out at the clouds. Beautiful, it's always so simple up here, with noone yelling or running around like they scattered there marbles.Every since he was a young child he had loved it up here, soaring through the skies on rainy days. It always seemed to surrine, he used to only sleep when the climate was just right. But the stoms had been less and less and he had adjusted to sleeping hrough all climates, he would just find a room that was dark and quiet. The hum of the ship helped him sleep as well, to him it was a mothers lullaby. He heard the first boom of thunder and shot up, not seeing where the lightening was but knowing it had to have occured somewhere. He turned and fled to the upper deck, grabbing his jacket and pulling it tight over his head and dashing through the doorway. Noticing his mother halling the youngest of his eight other younger siblings. He was fifteen almost sixteen, and the two youngest were only five, you were not allowed up deck during a storm until you were ten according to his over protective mother. However his father used to sneak him up once he had reached the cunning age of eight, figuring that if he were old enough to tie his own shoes he was old enough to hang on if the ship lurched. "Ash! Get over here!" Looking up he saw his father by the Catcher, it looked like a cannon but instead of shooting it drew in and it drew in the magnificant force that was lightening. Jumping a few stars to the machine he nodded, resting the gadges on it as his father aimed and counted down. "Three! Two! One! Brace!" As he yelled brace Ashton squeezed his eyes closed and felt the melt heat up beneath his fingers as the lightening was zeroed in on and pulled in. ] The repeated that and got about three different succecful strikes before the storm settled down to a silent, light rain. His father walked up beside him and rested a hand on his shoulder. "Good job my boy, you make us proud!"
Len96x
Rudolph woke up the next morning with the sun straight into his eyes, seeping through the small space between the two curtains. He grunted. "How is it possible that something 150 km away, has aim this perfect?" He rolled over after closing the curtains some more. Now that sun will never come through my window again! mwuahaha! But some force in the world decided that Rudolph was not allowed to sleep anymore for his grandfather came into the room. The 19 year old had barely fallen into unconsciousness until his grandfather jumped up and landed on his stomach. Hard. "HUMPF!!" Rudolph struggled under the old man but the action was in vain for it was way to early to be this productive and his only family member left was not the lightest. "Gramps! Get off!" "Your shift in the shop started two minutes ago," was the only thing he said as he said down in lotus position on his grandson's stomach. "Aw shit... Is it that late already?" "Yes, it is this late already," the old man said sipping his coffee that he got from... thin air? Rudolph ignored the magical coffe cup, an appearance he's gotten used to, and attempted (read: attempted) to struggle again. "Alright, I'll get up. Just get off me!" "Good," his grandfather got off and walked towards the door, "your first task will be to get some more leather straps. The ladies have been buying them non-stop. Apparently, those aviator hats have been in lately..." he kept talking while walking down the stairs to the living area behind the shop but Rudolph had long given up to listen to those old women talk. He stayed in bed for about three more minutes and then got up to prevent another blow in the stomach. About a quarter later, he got down the stairs, fully dressed in his shirt, pants that were shredded beneath his knees and a pair of boots. He finished his look with his trademark black bandana with gears on it. His grandfather was not in the living area - complete with two sofa's, a radio Rudolph tried to fix (and succeeded), a cupboard with books and a few photographs, a kitchen with dozens of small machineries Rudolph also tried to fix (less successfully but they still worked), a door to the storage and a door to the shop where his grandfather probably was. Rudolph didn't take his time to eat a proper breakfast (taking a few cookies instead) and walked out of the house with a cylinder of lightning. "Any specific colours you need the leather in?" Rudolph asked behind him to the old man, who was seated at the counter with the mysterious coffee, looking straightforward. "Ask Miss Bianca about the popular colours," he grunted. And on his way he was, towards the warehouse of the town.
~Ashton~
Ashton sat on the top deck of the sky veering ship as it slowly began to descended upon the high dock's. He and his family strode out into the daylight, taking in the beautiful city of London England. The two youngest screamed in childish laughter as they took off towards a children's store, tugging there mother and other 7 sibbligns behind them. There father let out a belt of his own laughter as his dear children became even more gleeful, he yelled across the mass of people "Don't even think about it you all!! We are not made of money!" As they went wide eyes at a rocking chair that stood in the display window. Ashton himself gave a silent smile as he returned to unloadign the containers of normal things to sell while his father began unloading the lightening barrels. Peaceful, quiet, happy, can things stay like this forever? Can time not just freeze in this moment right now? His mind whispered the sweetest of thoughts to him, the smile lingered on his face as they began to head towards the barters market area. He,being the oldest, always went to help barter while the others took this time to sight see and shop for mindless little trinkets, leaving all the expensive things to the men of the family. It took about half the day to finish with all the shopping, coming back with plentiful food and a present for each child, his father had allowed him to get a tattoo of a butterfly on his lower wrist and he know wore it proudly. His mother however was not so proud of it "You let him get what!? Those things are perminant!! One day what if he meets a nice girl and decides since he has one it's okay to get another!? Then they break up in a horible way and our son spends the rest of his life in sorrow for his one mistake!!" Ashton himself couldn't help but laugh at the two, for his father just ignored the outrageous comment and pointed to his wives name on the back of his own neck, making her blush and storm over to bread the youngest ones hair. They stopped when there was a knock on the door, sliding off his chair Ashton trotted over and pulled the heavy metal thing open. Blinking in confusion as he stared up at what he could only envision as a mafia head "The man gave Ashton a toothy grin. "Hey there boy, is your mom home?" Before he could answer Ashton's father pulled him back and stood in front of him, in a protective and rigid stance. "Do you need something here? I'm Ray, his father and hos mothers husband." The man in the doorway seemed to take a moment to size the other up, two men came up behind them and all but shoved his father and Ashton back father into the house. "I have come for something and will not be leaving until I get it, now I repeat where it your wife?" Ashtons mother Ceciel stood forward, "Do you need something from me?" The man sneered "You, young lady, will be coming home with me and wed me this night." Ashton swore he could have heard a pin drop,\ just before his father rushed forward, slamming his fist into the mans head. However he only got in one punch before the two dopple gangers behind him rushed forward as well, slamming there dad back so he topple over his son. Ashton and Ray falling to the ground ,Ray stood and slammed them while Ashton ran foward and slammed the door close. He heard a gun shot rebound off the metal door and winced, his father grabbing his hand and dashing upstaiirs, his family following. Gun shots rang through the air, rebounding off the metal. "Get ready, we are leaving!" Yelled the man as he started up the engine. However not far off he heard the roar of another engine, gears grinding Ash glanced out the window to see another ship starting up across the habor and he instantly knew it was them. "Father! They have a ship, there coming!!!" His father let out a string of curses as the ship levitated for a moment and floored it, shooting off through the air. They felt a loud bang and the ship vibrated for a moment before righting itself. "Shooting! There shooting at us!! Our ship isn't preparred for any kind of battle!! He have no guns!" His wife shrieked as the shot through the sky, There ship had been hit many times already, his father had hit his head one of the times and was out cold on his wifes lap as Ashton tried his best to steer them, he also hadn't heard the other ship for quiet some time so took a bit of time to slow down as to not over heat the engine. There was a loud clang and Ashton noticed the fuel gage had dropped way to fast, after a momentarily bump, the ship began to plummet towards a city below them, steering the wheel hard and turning to when they crashed it wouldn't be on houses, instead they were plummeting towards what looked like a forest just outside the outskits of the city, a trail of smoke trailing behind. Len96x
As his grandfather had told him, Rudolph stopped by old Miss Bianca's house for some fashion advise before going to the warehouse. Miss Bianca lived on the top of the mountain so he went to the town square, where the grand tower clock - made out of a stone tower and bronze and silver gears - told him it was seven in the morning. Everyone usually starts to wake up at this point and go outside to go to their work or school. This then leads to the never ending waiting-lines for the cable lift, one for up the mountains and one which goes down to the docks and the cable lift station. Everything in town worked on steam and gears and most adults had to work in mines to search for coal or in the fabrics to make sure everything works. Some people were lucky and only had to work in shops or cafes. Five other people were waiting for the lift to come up, two of them were schoolgirls in their short skirted uniform chatting with each other. Rudolph eyed them out of the corner of his eyes. He wasn't looking for a girlfriend or anything - she'd cheat on him anyway - but he did like to tease them. He grinned as one girl jumped up and down squeeling to something the other had said, revealing some of her underwear. Nice. The lift arrived and he got in, sitting down one seat away from the girls. They sat down with their knees closed but they didn't cover their legs completely. Rudolph had gone to the same school as these girls and knew he'd had four stops to look at them. In that time, other girls and boys came in until they all got out at 'Addolorata High Station'. A few adults heading to the woods to cut down some trees came in too and Rudolph decided this was a good moment to look down through the window behind him. Addolorata was a beautiful Italian town situated at the foot of a mountain but still close to the sea. It had very high rocky cliffs where the waves would crash upon and give a very nice view of the sunrise and sunset. The docks were a few meters away from these cliffs and were the pride of the town. Everyday, fishers would dock at the lower levels of the port to sell their game for this season and every hour, an aircaptain would land their airship - whether it be a flying boat, a zeppelin, a plane or simply a dragon or bird - at the highest levels of the port to sell their lightning or other goods to sell.Lightening was the most rare one since catching it is a dangerous occupation. Higher up the mountains, above the docks, there's the industrial regions. There are buildings that make the gears from which the town lives, buildings that keep inventing robots and machines that work on steam. There's a building in which scientists discuss new sources of power since mining starts to become dangerous and there's the building in which the gears turn so the lift can move. A little higher is the main station of the lift and just above that, there's the town square and Rudolph's home. Here the markets are being held. Here are most of the shops, pubs and hotels for drunken fishermen and men of the sea and the air. Their dignity lies there too. There are always people here and there's always something moving. Pedestrians, the tram (running on steam and gears off course), people on the newest model of the bike,... The beauty of the Steampunk is brought in this region. Steam and gears are being used everywhere and the roads are both made of stone and on the ground or made out of metal and hovering miles above the ground. The town only becomes bigger from there on. More shops, restaurants, the richer people's place and the schools. Then their are some houses, which turn into villas and then, on the top of the mountain, is the castle of the vassal of our king. Every land has their vassal and Italy's lives on the top of that mountain, it's prestigious castle watching over the town. It is a beautiful town, a peaceful town. It was Rudolph's home for over 10 years now and he loved it. He watched over the city as he got out of the lift at Sunset Station and headed to Miss Bianca's house, one of the richer houses that is. ~Ashton~
The ship hit the ground and caused a large vibration that any neighboring towns likely would have heard or felt, but they had been going fast enough and had all lights turned off so they wouldn't be spotted by the other mans ship if hewere near, so to others it was probably just a small earth quake. Then again, most humans were to stuck in there own heads to notice if the world were ending, so it wasn't like it mattered much. Ashton and all his family lurched forward as the large, metal compound hit and rolled along the ground, stopping when he slammed into the side of a few masses of trees and with that the night went silence. Ashton heard his mother crying out, lifting himself up and prying his eyes open he gasped. His father had a stray pipe protuding through his leg, blood spilled the floor. Jumping up he tried to run towards them but his father yelled "No! Go check your siblings, I won't die from this!!" Ashton nodded, turning and begining to search for his siblings, he found the two youngest huddled together in the corner, clearly not wanting to see there dad all blood and in pain nor there mother crying her eyes out. "Are you both okay?" His voice soothed over the words and he kneeled beside them opening his arms and they ran into his arms, clinging. Sighing as he (Struggling) picked them both up and began looking for the other 6, finding the third youngest huggled with the second oldest and the last four in the front of the ship with there faces pressed to the windows, looking out the window and they all watched there older bother approach> "Heym, where are we Bro?" The second oldest asked him and he eturned with an all might shrug. They managed to right the ship and got Ray into the bed with his mother, sighing as he sat at the kitchen table and looked out the window. Everyone else was asleep except him. We are going to need to get some food and supplies, some things may have gotten ruined. Waiting until the next morning, not sleeping a wink, he put Rial (The second older) In charge and left his sleeping parents to set off towards the city he noticed when they were crashing before. He drug with him an extrea charge of lightening they had in storage and a few supplies that they would no longer be needed, as well as some money prey the little they had. He walked through the bustling street, looking for anyone who may be interested. He knew seeling around here was likely not legal so he did his best to keep a low profile, leaning against a corner and stopping a man. "Hey, do you know what I need? I hear there is someone who sells lightening around here?" The man gave Ash a rather scornful look and growled "No, but if there was I reccomend he lay low, lest someone like ME calls the authorities on them. With that the man stormed off, sighing himself Ash turned back and banged his head on a nearby pole for his stupidity, yawning wide.
Len96x
Miss Bianca's house wasn't big but wasn't small either. The building was situated in a meadow surrounded by willows, a sight you rarely see in Italy and especially near the top of a mountain. The castle of the vassal was visible in the distance but so was the case everywhere in town so Rudolph spent no interest on that. Instead, he made his way through the high grass, stepping on a path of trampled ground he was so familiar with. In his younger year after he just moved in with his Gramps, he used to come here and play on a swing hanging from one of the willows in the garden. It was beautiful here whenever it was spring and just after midday. It was now around 8 o'clock so the dew was finally going away. Rudolph was now able to see a cottage in the middle of the meadow, surrounded by flowers in all sorts and sizes. Miss Bianca was known for her amazing skills at gossiping, baking and gardening. She was like a very nice witch, the perfect person to spend your childhood with. Rudolph knocked on the green wooden door, trying to avoid the bees flying around a bed of irises. In the door appeared a small old women, her hair pulled back in a tight bun and the loose strands supported by a flower-patterned shawl. On her shoulder rested a checkered cloth above a dark blue dress. She smiled a toothy grin. "Oh if it isn't dear Rudolph," she said in a squeaky voice. Sometimes, she really was like a witch. "Come in, dear boy! Come in." she went asside for the 19 year old to come in but he waved his hands awkwardly and stood still outside in the garden. "No no, sorry, I can't," he said, an apologetic look on his face, "I have to go to the warehouse and the next lift is in 15 minutes." The old woman went back to standing in front of the door, her expression going from happy to hurt and a little sad. Damn, now Rudolph felt guilty. "Then what can I help you with?" she asked. "We're selling straps of leather for those aviator hats. What colours should I buy?" Miss Bianca's face lit up again in an instant. "That is easy, deary. The boys like to go for the dark manly colours such as black, dark blue and dark green, maybe ven red," Miss Bianca started talking and he knew once started, there was no ending it. He quickly got a piece of paper from his pocket and a pencil from his boot and wrote the colours down. "And for the adventurous girls I'd go for a light brown instead of dark. Maybe dark blue too but that goes with the boys. They might have yellow too but that woud go terrible with the goggles from last season," he scratched yellow, "apparently, the girls have been looking for straps with patterns on them, isn't that wonderful?" Rudolph stayed with Miss Bianca for another five minutes and sprinted to the lift station in a record time of 40 seconds. It wasn't unusual for this station to be empty. Most people from this side of town worked at home or didn't need to work to have bread on the table. Rudolph then noticed there was quite a gap between rich and poor but there were no social problems at all. In the 500 years the town had existed, there had been few wars with the other towns and no civil wars whatsoever. He really loved this town. The lift stopped at the town square where a young man with short blond hair and a cigarette in his mouth walked in. "Michel, you know you're not allowed to smoke in the lifts," Rudolph said with a smirk. The blond man, Michel, grinned too and threw his cancer stick through the window of the lift. "Good morning to you too," he sat down next to him, "heading down to the warehouse again, I presume?" Rudolph nodded, sighing very very deep. "Man, when are we going to hang out again? I haven't had a drink with you for ages!" "I'm sorry, Michel," Rudolph laughed, scratching the back of his head, "Gramps is pushing all the transporting at me, I have to constantly get heavy boxes from the market or the warehouse and now we're also doing deliveries. I'm exhausted!" Michel laughed too, his breath smelling like nicotine. "Poor you, I at least get to serve young beautiful girls!" He stretched out and placed his hands behind his head. Michel worked as a cook at the school but usually spend his mornings helping a friend at the docks. He, this friend called Raphael and Rudolph went to school together and were basically known as the three musketeers and the fear of many many teachers. Rudolph grinned at the memories. Michel spoke again: "Raphael has been tiring me out too lately. 'Bring this to that place' 'this ships needs some cleaning, captain's orders' 'where's my cigarette'. I swear, that guy is gonna kill me," he slumped down some more on his seat and Rudolph copied him. "He's been saying that of you too when you almost put the school building on fire," he said. Michel laughed very loudly mumbling something around the words of 'true, true,...', "If I got time left, I might come down and help out." Michel sat up straight again, his eyes shining with agitated tears. "Really?" "No "
~Ashton~
(Sorry it's so short) Ashton pulled the heavy things back home, only gotten a few things to help his family but he had tried all day and didn't want to leave the kids home alone. It took him about two hours to figure out where the ship was, dropping everything he held inside and trottign back out, taking in the entire damage level of the ship and sighing heavily as he figured it would cost way to much for them to try and replace the parts and get dents fixed, and even the gas for it up here would likely be unaffordable as well. Sighing heavily he clambbered back into the ship, looking around and smiling when he was instantly greeted by all his younger sibblings. "Hey guys, did you all behave today?" He inquired while taking a moment to look over each and everyone of the children. They all nodded and the second oldest spoke in a solem tone. "Dad's leg is getting worse, he said it was probably going to get infected, Mom hasn't spoken all day either." Ashton gave a curt nod and picking up one of the twins handed her to the second oldest. "Here, yo uall go see if you can find some fruit or something for dinner okay? I'm going to go talk to mom." He turned and walked to his parents room. Knocking once and opening the door slowly "Mom? Dad? How are you guys?" His dad looked up at him and gave him a wary thumbs up "I'm doing fine Squirt, how was the market?" He asked but seeing his sons face he nodded "Ah, well we will get out there and get em, don't worry." Ashton gave a small nod as his mother stood. "Honey, I think theres something you should know. My parents were very good people, they were very wealthy though. They bought your daddy and I this ship actually. But they were overwhelmed with image, they pre destined my marrage before I even had a choice. But I met your Father and we fell in love and ran away with the ship they bought for my sisteenth birthday. They man from before was supposed to be my fiance...I'm so sorry baby" Ashtons head spun, his mother was supposed to marry someone other than his dad?? "That's alright...you really should have told me before all this happened though, maybe we could have been more ready. Either way i'm going back to the market, see you in the morning." He turned to leave when his mother interjected "Alreadyt? But you jsut got home!" She didn't finish before Ashton had slammed the door and ran from the ship, grabbind a little bit more money before shooting off towards the market, first heading into a shop that seemed to be giving off a very homy, and welcoming feel. Len96x
(No prob darls ^^) Rudolph came back home with a wooden box full of leather straps. His grandfather (not having moved an inch) told him to put them on the shelves with the goggle-lenses immediately. They had already opened for the day and people (mostly women) were already checking out all their goods. The young women hung out at the shelves with the knitting materials and the sewing boxes. The few men that were there looked over all the gears, pieces of metal and wheels. They're probably inventors. Rudolph knew that later that day, the young girls would come by too and look at a few dresses the shop had in the corner while the boys would pick up groceries ordered by their mother. Poor kids. Rudolph laid the last strap down before picking up the box to return to the warehouse later as a blond boy walked in, looking quite troubled. Rudolph paid it no mind however. There were probably some back breaking tasks his grandfather had in store for him. And how right he was. "I'm going to make some coffee," his Gramps got up from his chair. Really? Can't you just... magically make some out of your ass? ... Okay! Wrong mental images! "You come stand behind the counter for a few minutes!" Rudolph shook his head (Damn imagination) and went to the counter as the old man disappeared behind the shop.
~Ashton~
Ashton glanced around the shop and allowed himself to relax a bit, he noticed that clouds outside were begining to accumulate and even blocked out the sun a bit. It looks like it's going to storm, I should probably head home and make sure the kids shut the windows. I don't need to worry about rust and mold as well as everything else. The ship itself had a self cleaner for the outside to make sure it did not rust or frost over or even deteriorate under the harsh conditions of the sky. However that onl activated when they were in mid flight and now that it seemed they would be permanently grounded he knew the ship itself would be in dire trouble. He glanced around and continued to take in the shop, noticing there seemed to be a little dispute behind the counter but he didn't really seem to need to pay it much mind. Picking up a few things he felt he may need, taking a towel to cover the lightening machine which he had left outside and make sure it stayed dry as well as some random shoe strings for the kids, noting a little doll that was in the displa window he took that as well. Waking his way to the counter he sett he things down and reached into his wallet to extract the money. "How much?" He spoke politely as he looked up at the man behind the counter. Len96x
Rudolph stopped sticking his tongue out to his grandfather as he turned around, rather bored and started rambling the usual greeting to the client he had learned by heart, in the most monotone voice in history of monotone voices. "Good day sir, I hope you are doing well today. How my I help you?" He looked at his client - the blond from before - down at his 'groceries' - a towel, some shoelaces and his cousin's old doll - and back up at the boy. "That would be 12 coins, please," he said as dry as the first statement, diving under the counter. "Would you like a bag, sir?"
