“They’ll leave you alone.... probably.” I can’t promise it.... and don’t worry about Lance. He is harmless.... he’s been nice to me a few times, gave him his left overs when he noticed I had nothing. He shrugged.

 

Sebastian reached and stroked his leg softly. “Are we walking in town? Or just driving?”

"I think we'll be staying in the car, unless I see something interesting..." I don't think I can handle walking around and hearing everything everyone is thinking... Veryn rested his hand on Sebastian's. I guess it's not going to be possible to just be treated like a regular person anymore... Maybe if I go somewhere far away.

I figured that was the reason. I don’t mind just sitting in the car with you. He hummed gently. “Yes Master.” Sebastian looked down at their hands. He frowned a moment as a thought crossed his mind, When did I start to reach for him....?

 

He smiled up at him, Normal is boring. Many of the people in this town will come to the estate for disagreements.... it’s not as common as it used to be though.

Sebastian looked up when he felt him hug him tighter. Everything okay? he checked.

Yeah... Lance was just thinking about how he's glad I'm being nice to you. Veryn kissed his cheek. he thinks you deserve to be treated well. I'm just glad that I'm not the only one here that cares about you. He winked at the man.

I'd still like to replace Horus with someone who respects you eventually. I know I should keep him around for awhile but I don't like it.

Seb didn’t hide his surprise he even glanced to the back of Lance’s head. He did? Really? Wow..... I never would have expected anyone to..... He swallowed, looking back to Veryn’s

 

I know. I’ve been thinking about it.... there’s two options. Once you’re finished with him tomorrow, fire him. We can interview for someone new. Or, I can start putting discreet feelers out and attempt to get someone by the end of the week and then you fire him? If you don’t like him Veryn.... if he’s making it harder.... then do what you need to do.

 

Sebastian rested his hand upon the others chest. “What do you think of the town?”

You don't think it would cause too many issues to just fire him? Veryn frowned. He wasn't sure how essential Horus's role was.

"It's nice." hopefully I can actually walk around it soon... He stroked Sebastian's cheek. "Are you very familiar with it?"

It might. But we can manage.... I think. I’ll have to go do things though. To ensure it’s running correctly. Think of the butler like the general, commanding the troops and overseeing the work completed. Sebastian offered.

 

“I have been here a lot, yes. I am known here.” He offered carefully. The people are generally good people.

It would probably be a bad idea to let him continue to work here after telling him that I'll be letting him go... Right? Tell him that he's going to be dismissed at the end of the week so we can openly look for a replacement without you worrying about taking on all his duties... Veryn sighed, it was all so complicated.

"Are there any places here that you like to go?" He asked.

What ever you think is best... Sebastian shrugged. I don’t know what is best...

 

“I like....” Sebastian thought about it, “walking past the donut shop. It always looks so bright and delicious.” He smiled. Not that I’ve ever been in.

You do know better than me though. Veryn frowned. I want your opinion on this...

He smiled again at the mention of the donut shop. "Maybe we can stop by there..." He thought outloud. as long as it isn't too crowded... "Do you know the place he's talking about Lance?"

I think waiting is best. But only because he is good at his job and it would be one less thing to deal with immediately. However, I wouldn’t give him warning... just.... fire and gone. Maybe give him a weeks wages to soften the blow but don’t let him make a mess before leaving.... he frowned.

 

I could do alone? If you are concerned? Though I would need either some cash or to borrow your card for a short while.... he offered quietly.

 

“Indeed I do, Master. It is called the Golden Ring. Always a popular store.” Lance offered. “Shall I park in the carpark?”

I'll try to go in with you, but if it's too much for me I'll let you pay. he handed Sebastian some cash.

"That'd be perfect, thanks." Veryn said.

“No trouble at all, Master.” Lance drove that way and started to park up.

 

Sebastian nodded and tucked the money away. No trouble. You can tell me what you want and wait outside if it’s too much? Whatever you need.

Great, thanks Veryn gave him a light kiss on the forehead. He waited until the car had fully stopped before climbing out. He had to resist the urge to take Sebastian's hand. Even if they weren't on the estate he knew he had to be careful.

Sebastian climbed out too and closed the door. “Thank you Lance.” The driver just nodded as he led the way into town. “Hopefully it’s not too busy.”
