It was still a middle of the night when the hunter and this brunette left the forest. A silent night when the countless stars were dancing in the sky while the platinum moon was carefully observing. However, even on such a fine and quiet time, this redhead hunter was restless and couldn't find the peace of mind, despite that his face looked so chill and calm. He can't understand what exactly happened after that fight - what was that light and why it entered inside this vampire's body? Why there was an enormous amount of dark energy around this brunette? Was Kyo holding off all this time and lied about losing his powers? Was it his true face, and he's just using this redhead while waiting for the moment when he could kill him as his personal prey? One thing for sure, Iori knew Kyo not too long nor too well. So, he doesn't really know when this vampire is acting and when he is truly himself. However, why this brunette with such a concern warns when he might attack or possibly cause any harm to this redhead? For being a vampire, who are known as nothing more than a perfect killing machine, he sure shows too much affection or his vulnerable side to the hunter. Even so, there was something that keeps this redhead drawing closer to Kyo, yet he couldn't exactly understand what. Was it unintentional charms of the vampire, which were used to lure into a deadly trap? Despite that should be any of these nocturnal creatures' primal instincts, unfortunately, Kyo didn't look smart enough to use them for hunting, or so noticed Yagami as he spends more time observing this Kusanagi. So, being wrapped around this brunette's finger purely because of his natural abilities was out of the question. Nevertheless, there was something that not only caught the attention of Iori, but also peaked his curiosity, just after their first encounter. However, without even feeling it, Iori's curiosity grew into a desire to see Kyo's awakening full potential, even if that meant not allowing anyone to approach or touch this Kusanagi, just Yagami himself. Even, if it meant sacrificing himself. It seems that a supposed to be a natural killer, who should mercilessly take anyone's life just to fulfill his hunger, gives a purpose and a will to live for this redhead. However, right now his further thoughts were interrupted when all of a sudden he felt how someone places a hand on his shoulder "Are you okay? You sure that nothing happened to you, Yagami? You're spacing out.". Iori just closes his eyes and removes this brunette's hand from his shoulder and after opening his eyes, calmly explains "Mind your own business, you stupid vampire. I'm just a little tired, that's it. So, we need to hurry up and return before the sun rises.". However, Kyo objects in irritated voice "We can handle these books another time. So, if we return straight to Kagura's shop, you gonna rest on the floor or leave again, you idiot. Unlike me, you need to get a proper sleep. That's why we should find the nearest inn so that you can over-night and then handle these books later. These waited for a long time inside that cave, so, now it can also wait for another day.". This redhead could swear that despite someone entering inside this vampire, Kyo looked like nothing has changed about him at all. However, Yagami only replies in serious tone while keeping his hands in his coat's pockets "And how are you exactly going to leave during the day time? I need to know as soon as possible what was that thing entered inside you and whenever you're going to freak out again.". Nevertheless, this brunette tries to remain as chill as possible. Yet after cracking a smile, this vampire places his hand on his chest and indignantly declares "Listen, I'm perfectly fine! So, there is nothing to worry about." after removing his hand, Kyo softens his gaze and continues in a calmer tone "Besides, I can wrap myself in a blanket or hide in the closet when the sun rises. So, for once, can you let yourself to relax a bit?". It seems that this stupid vampire won't give up so easy, and it would be simply pointless to continue to argue with him, or so Iori thought as he rolls his eyes and walks through this brunette. After looking back at this vampire, this redhead's long coat rustles by the wind, and now he prompts Kyo in slightly irritated voice ''Are you going or what?'' . The hunter knew that he can't drag this nocturnal creature together to the Hunter Guild, so, now he hoped that maybe in the nearest inn or hotel, there wouldn't anyone else, who can sense the presence of this nocturnal creature. After a while they entered through the wooden door and followed by ringing of the small bell and footsteps of these unexpected wanderers. Of course, it didn't take long enough to show the never-resting owner, who was now behind the reception counter. Apparently it was a long-haired redhead woman in her mid-twenties, wearing a black long-sleeved body-stocking shirt, which revealed her well-build abs and completely revealing her shoulders. It also had wide-cut in the chest area. However, it seems that cleavage was covered by beneath that shirt and around her bust with several layers of medical bandage. Along that she wore black leather pants with widening shanks. Now this woman's silver-gray eyes were fixated on newly arrived guests. Behind that calm and serious gaze, there was a lingering tempest. There was simply something that was ticking her off about this pair, but this redhead couldn't put a finger on it. Despite that there was one outstanding detail about this redhead woman - there were visible snow-white horns on her head, which were triangle-shaped and reminded cat ears. However, this lady just swooshes her long silky hair with her one hand and after she closes her eyes and deeply exhales through her nose, she opens her eyes and greets these visitors in serious and deeper tone ''Welcome to our small but cozy inn 'Lilium' whenever you're looking for the shelter from the wind or rain. How can we help you?''. Of course, as Yagami approaches the counter, he comments in annoyed and slightly treating tone ''And what does exactly a diclonius1 doing here? Where is the true owner of this place?''. Fortunately, so-called diclonius just mockingly smiles and briefly chuckles. After she placed her elbow on the counter, she leans forward and grins ''Hey, big bro, you sure love to judge, ain't you? What if these are a simple decoration?~ So, why don't you think twice before you speak up, or I may ask you to leave nicely while you can?''. However, Iori kept his poker-face and when Kyo tried to step out, this vampire was gently pushed away by the hunter. Now the redhead hunter warns in cold tone ''You should hide better or cut these horns completely, woman. If the other hunters will find you, they'll mercilessly kill you.''. This diclonius mocking smile was gone as her face darkens, now she counter-attacks in strict voice ''Listen you, mister hunter. If you dare to lay a finger on one of our customers, I'll make sure that your head and body parts will be delivered separately to each known guild as a warning.''. Unfortunately, as this redhead diclonius gives a sadistic look to Iori, this hunter felt how he was lifted into the air and wrapped by an invisible force. He could even swear that he could sense how an invisible hand was placed on his throat and slightly choking him. Surely, Kyo couldn't stand and watch this quietly, so, as he frowns and reveals his fangs, this vampire charges at this diclonius woman. However, he was sent back flying by the strike of an invisible long arm. Upon crashing on the ground, this brunette groans in pain, and he was about to get up, this vampire heard a warning from this woman ''Don't interface, boy! Your precious friend needs to learn one thing.'' yet he ignored this request and while slightly shaking on his sides, stood up. All of a sudden this Kusanagi felt how a pair of invisible fingers went through his forehead, even if physically he looked perfectly fine. Now this vampire widens his eyes as he froze in the same spot as these invisible fingers were inside him. All this brunette could do is listen to the deeper yet ice-cold voice of this woman ''I don't want to finish you off, because even if you're not one of us, but you are still one of the human hated kind. Yet I cannot promise you anything, if you stand in my way.''. While Iori was struggling, he gave this woman a stubborn look, yet it seems this diclonius wasn't affected at all. She only closes her eyes and sighs, after opening her eyes, she addresses Yagami ''This place is a neutral zone for all monsters, demons and human alike. So, I won't tolerate any hunter's presence, who just come here to slaughter everyone. Besides, haven't you, humans, without any reason aside hatred or for your personal excitement killed or caused enough suffering? So, I suggest you to leave before I'll blind you and torn your arms apart.''. It seems that when this diclonius was focused her attention on Iori, the invisible fingers were still inside Kyo's forehead. Even so, this nocturnal creature stand up and takes step forward. All of a sudden the sudden invisible arms aims at his chest and carefully enters inside his chest. This Kusanagi was alerted and prepared for the worst as this hand reached his lungs and heart. However, this woman widens her eyes and now feels the unbearable ache her left eye. She could swear that this pain was sent through the invisible arms which were piercing this brunette. What a hell was wrong with vampire boy? He didn't look that he would possess any power at all, but there was an enormous amount of dark energy deep inside him, which didn't seem to belong to this brunette. It felt like something lived inside him, someone, who was the true owner of this dark and malicious aura, or so, this diclonius woman thought while felling on her knees and hugging her arms. Right now she could barely breathe, even her voice was shaky and soundless. So, through her shaky lips movement she told in barely hearable voice ''don't come close to me…leave, leave me alone…why you have to be so cold and cruel?…merciless killer…''. Eventually, her invisible arm released Iori, who fell like a sandbag on the wooden floor while the hand inside this brunette's chest was removed. All she could do is deeply breath. When Iori managed to stand up, all of a sudden another femine concerned voice echoes through this place ''IRENE!''. One thing for sure, this voice returned so-called Irene to her senses, and now she looks toward the direction of that voice and scolds in calm and deeper tone, as nothing has happened before ''What are you doing here? Shouldn't you suppose to be sleeping. *sigh* It's the middle of the night, you know. So, go back to sleep…''. Apparently, it was a young brunette woman in her early twenties with a longer fringe brushed on the sides and having long hair, which reached her lower back and were loosely tied. Despite looking half-asleep, her gaze was warm and innocent. This lady wore a deep blue color pajama and light material gray bathrobe. As this lady rushes towards the counter, ignoring the guests, and after getting inside, she softly narrows her gaze fixated at the redhead diclonius while holding her arm. Now she speaks up with eyes-wide open ''I heard a loud bang. That's why I wanted to make that you're alright…''. Irene only closes her eyes and sighs, after opening them, she replies in calm tone ''You worry too much, Sonia. Besides, one stupid hunter storms in and puts a big show. So, all I wanted to do is to give a calm warning, that's it.'' . Of course, Yagami rolls his eyes and face-palms, these stupid women were getting on his nerves and were so annoying, yet it seems that Kyo stepped in this time and asks this couple politely ''Can you sort out between yourself later? We're looking for a room for a couple days. Do you have a spare one or not?''. Surely, the redhead hunter was surprised by such a request and this brunette could notice the slight pinkish color in Yagami's cheeks, whenever he thought it was the lighting effect or not. However, despite that Iori indignantly objects ''Excuse me, but he meant two rooms, not a single one!''. This vampire just gave a questioning look for this hunter and comments ''The heck? You have too much in your pocket just for a couple nights? I'm just trying to save your money, you idiot! Plus, it would be cheaper.'' now Kyo returned his gaze to the inn-keepers and added in as calm tone as he could make ''Please, ignore him, he just had a hard day. Besides, we can perfectly fit into a single room. So, there would be no issues sharing it.''. It was followed by Iori placing his palm on the counter and demanding ''So, how much for two rooms?'', this vampire frowns and counter-attacks ''For a single one?'' after this brunette gave a determinant look for Yagami and stubbornly fights-back ''Why you have to be like this, you dumb-ass? Besides, you were nagging all the way how you wanna keep an eye on me. But now you have a problem by sharing the same room? Give me a break...''. Surely, Sonia could feel the growing tension between these two, and couldn't help herself, but just start to get nervous. However, just when Irene placed her hand on this long-haired brunette's shoulder, this lady felt a bit relieved. So, now she interrupts this quarrel in louder voice ''Um, can you keep your private life for yourselves? You're disturbing our guests' rest. Let me first check the guest book. Then you can do whatever you want when you get the keys.'' surely, despite this woman's big eyes, her gaze was strict. Fortunately, it helped to silence this pair. Besides, there was also a menacing aura, which maybe the younger woman didn't sense around this redhead diclonius, who now wraps her arm around this Sonia's shoulders. After this long-haired brunette bends down and takes out a very thick and heavy looking journal, she places it on the counter. When she finds the bookmark, she opens this guest book and now carefully scan through opened pages. Once points the finger on a certain spot of the page, she tilts her head and addresses this couple ''We do have a single vacant room left. So, it's completely up to you whenever you want it or not.''. When this vampire gives to Iori a demanding look, he knew that it was pointless to argue further and now after he faces these women, he asks them ''How much we own you for that?'' and thus, Kyo felt relieved knowing that this redhead finally listened to him. Part 14 Of course, after getting inside into their new room, this vampire started to explain in serious tone as the redhead hunter was hanging his coat inside the closet ''You know, we would have avoided all these troubles, if you have remained silent.''. Yagami only looked for a second giving a cold gaze at this brunette and clenches his hands into the fists. However, Kyo continued while soften his gaze at the hunter ''There are some things, which you should keep to yourself. So, consider that we were lucky only buying-off with a warning.''. As this vampire got closely to Iori, he cracked a mocking smile for a brief moment and once he placed a hand on this redhead's shoulder, this Kusanagi gives a serious look while explaining ''You may not like to admit, but, I bet, you could also sense that this woman was holding back and didn't crush us by using that force. Hell, even I would be mad too, if someone out of blue would start to announce like a fool 'hey, look, you're a monster, so, you don't belong here'.''. After this Kusanagi removes his hand from this redhead's shoulder, his face darkens as he continues in gloomier tone ''Not every hunter is like you and after capturing their target, killing it. There are some, who won't straightforward finish you off. '', when this vampire lowers his gaze and bits his lower lip, he looks back at the hunter ''There was even a case when you just wish to be killed instantly, at least then, you would feel relieved and without loosing yourself… That's right, some hunters may capture you just for pure entertainment and to kill some time by watching you suffering or getting humiliated.''. Surely, Iori started to feel bad for Kyo, who started to shake as he spoke, nevertheless, he listened further ''Y-you wanna know why a thing like this would happen? Simple. Just because you've been framed and falsely accused. However, who do you think would get away and whom to punish? You know, it's always easy for humans to blame anyone who is different from you and then… It's easier for you to hate and fear anyone, who is not a human being or not fitting in to your set standards.''. Unfortunately, the further words got stuck inside this vampire's throat, and it looked like this brunette could break any moment. Did Yagami triggered unwanted memories for this vampire again? Or so, doubted this redhead. So, without thinking Iori places this Kusanagi's head against his chest and just holds this brunette closely to him until eventually he starts to calm down. After Kyo frees himself from this redhead's embrace, he just stares with sad eyes while adding ''Even if you hunt down, at least don't call us out loudly by our names. I don't want to another bloody slaughter to happen nor anyone get such a high bounty for my head like I did.''. However, now Kyo uses a fake smile and trying his best to pretend like this didn't happen while suggesting ''Hey, Yagami, why don't you try the shower already? 'Cos I wanna know whenever it is working or not~''. Iori only sighs and replies in calmer tone ''Why don't you go first and see by yourself? Besides, I may take a long time, if there is a bath. So, either you can go with me or you're going to wait for a long time, you stupid vampire.''. This vampire only back-fires ''Unlike you, I can stay awake for a long time, ya know. So, I have no problems with waiting as much as I need. Plus, I don't want you to stare at me or use water against me.''. While Yagami gave questioning look, this brunette adds in rather in shyer voice ''Knowing you, I can expect that you may do something…unpredictable again, you idiot.''. If it wasn't for feeling tired, this redhead swore that he would tease this vampire for a bit longer and get some answers about this brunette's past. But for now, he decided to retreat without a word and went to the bathroom. An hour have passed~ This Kusanagi nearly got bored from waiting until Iori finishes using the shower. So, in the meantime he decided to kill time by placing found alchemy texts, hunter's whip and bag with knives on the table, which was next to the night-drawer. One thing was placing these books and knives' bag, the other was this redhead's leather whip. That thing was painful to hold, and it left burning marks on this brunette's palms. However, as this vampire observed his twitching palms in pain, they healed soon enough without leaving any traces or scars, yet the sensation of fake flame inside his hands remained. After sitting on the chair in front of this table, this brunette takes one of the hunter's knives and studies it. Apparently, it was just a mere knife, which even Kyo could use, if he wanted. So, while playing with this blade in his hand, this brunette just remembers how such a small weapon can be so deadly in this redhead's hands. However, it seems his thoughts were interrupted by the sound of an opened door. Surely, it was enough to make this vampire jolt and drop the knife out of his hand. So, before Iori noticed, he quickly placed the blade inside the knives' bag, and now he just stared at the bathroom's door. It seems that this redhead hunter left the bathroom only wearing a red wine color pants and a long white shirt, which seemed too tight around the chest area that the top buttons of the shirt remained unbuttoned and revealing the hollow between the pectoral muscles. Even so, he could sense where this stupid vampire fixated his gaze, which rather was a curious and sparking. That's right, this brunette's eyes couldn't leave alone Iori for a second until he sits on the edge of the bed, even if Kyo didn't realize that despite his face looked unsatisfied and his cheeks being dyed in a light tone of red. Hell, this Kusanagi couldn't hold back the silent purring like noises, which, fortunately, Yagami didn't hear. Of course, Kyo's dazing wasn't unnoticed by Iori, who gives him a questioning gaze. This redhead only asks in slightly embarrassed tone ''Where are you staring at, you stupid vampire? Or you have too much of eyes?''. However, this Kusanagi just quickly shakes his head and honestly replies without thinking too much ''I didn't know that behind your vest, you are hiding these. So, it can't be helped that I was curious, you know! Plus, they look so soft and squeezable. I was wondering whenever these are muscles or something else… So, why don't you cover them, before-''. All of a sudden a pillow was sent flying at Kyo's face. Surely, it nearly made this vampire to lose his balance, but after he picks it from the ground, this brunette was about to scold Yagami until he notices the indignant yet so deeply blushing Iori's face. It seems this redhead was speechless and all he could do is murmur ''... You stupid perverted vampire…'' and after taking a deep breath continues in louder and irritated tone ''I'm watching you! So, one wrong move and you'll taste my whip tonight.''. This brunette really wanted to tease Iori when he was like this, but no matter how hard it was to resist, Kyo stands up and after walking closer to the edge of the bed where this redhead sits, passes the pillow and replies in comforting voice ''Fiiine~ I get it… So, like heck, I wanna mess with you, you idiot. Just try to sleep, okay? I'll return soon.'' and ruffling Yagami's hair, this vampire gently brushes them from his face. With that this Kusanagi was off to the shower, where he hoped there is any ethereal oils. A half hour has passed~ When Kyo has left the bathroom he was still deeply breathing after having a longer shower session. Apparently, that mix of shower gel with weed oil really well protected his skin from getting easily irritated by the water. So, it's been awhile since he felt so relaxed and fresh. Maybe these inn-keepers really wanted to appeal for both - human and monster or demon species, after all. Nevertheless, he made a note to himself to ask where this pair got such a fine item before he'll leave the inn. But for now, this vampire noticed that the hunter already switched all lights off and how the moonlight was bright enough to lighten this room. Plus, Iori sleeps peacefully under such a silver light. Another detail, which this Kusanagi spotted is that Iori hanged his pants neatly on top of Kyo's jacket. Yet it also means that this vampire would need to hold-back from making necessarily comments about this redhead when walks around only in that shirt, or thought this brunette. But does it really his fault that Iori have more or less details, which keep catching this Kusanagi's attention? With that in mind Kyo return's to sit back on same chair while carefully observing Yagami. And thus, it seemed that this night would pass so nicely and calm. However, after a while, this vampire started to get short of air and felt a strong headache. All this brunette could do is lean forward and cover his eye with his one spread palm. At this moment he was afraid that this same being going to haunt him until it will get what it wanted. That vile creature inside him decided to return to try to take over him again of all worst possible times. Right now, this vampire could sense a familiar coldness and heavily malicious energy surrounding him. More important, Kyo could perfectly feel how this shadow figure behind him, has opened its eyes glowing in crimson red, which pierced this vampire with its hateful and unforgiving gaze. Now that dark shadow started to change its form and, lastly, it resembled a person's silhouette. Those ghostly arms hugs this Kusanagi from behind and as it smiles like a Cheshire cat, reveals it's bare sharp vampire fangs. This Kusanagi's eyes were wide-open in terror and started to shiver as this speaks in vile yet familiar voice "It's been awhile. Did you miss me?~", that's right, this spirit took similar form to vampire Kyo's, but with some changes - pitch-black hair, darker skin and everlasting glowing in crimson eyes. This darker brunette's chuckle echoed inside Kyo's mind, yet he continued with mockery in his voice "Just look at yourself. You lost your powers, nearly got killed by the same hunter again, and became a pathetic human's pet, who begs for food like a dog. You're becoming weaker and weaker as we speak.". As this dark being strokes this Kusanagi's cheek with his one hand, it slides to his throat where it rests. However, while Kyo was frozen in fear, this creature continues "Have you forgotten what humans did to you and who really saved you? That's right, if it wasn't for me, you would be still resting under the lake. So, without my interface you would be nothing. Even now I can feel how badly you want to drink this redhead hunter's blood until there would be nothing left out of him." Kusanagi only tightens his grasp around this brunette's neck and comments "It seems that only the thoughts about feasting on this human makes you excited~ So, why don't you give up to your primal instincts? That human only sees you as a mere target and you should see him as another fine meal.". This vampire only closes his eyes and shakes his head, however, 'Nagi removed his hand from the throat and now after roughly grabbing Kyo's chin, turns his head that way so that he could face Kusanagi. This vile creature suggests "No?... Why do you have to be so stubborn? How about I'll help you out? I gonna borrow your body for a sec and show you how it's done~". 'Nagi disappeared into the air, however, now Kyo could feel how he lost the control over his body and just observe. After he stands up and approaches the resting hunter. Hell, that foolish human too deeply that he has no understanding that he might die. Once this Kusanagi sits on the edge of the bed and corners Iori with his hands placed on bed. It didn't help that despite this redhead's well-build body from years of training, when Yagami's skin enlighten by the moonlight made him look so pale as a pretty but fragile doll, who may break from a single touch. However, now thanks to this nocturnal creature, Iori will become a one without even knowing it. This brunette could only observe how someone will kill by using his own hands, and he wished that at least his consciousness would fade away. Now as this nocturnal creature opens his mouth, a sharp fangs shows up and this brunette's eyes starts to glow in red. Kyo's fangs were so closely to Iori's neck that it looked like this vampire could sink them any moment. Even so, his eyes color returned to normal, and he was able to control his body again. Was it another test from 'Nagi? This brunette didn't care nor wanted to know that. However, after with-drawing his head from the hunter's neck, a malicious mocking voice echoes inside Kyo's head "That's too bad... You will regret this. So, I'll wait 'til that moment when you're most vulnerable and provoked, and then I'll take what's belong to me.". This Kusanagi just sighs in relief while carefully observing Yagami, whom he hoped haven't sensed anything. However, just when he turns away from the hunter and about to stand up… All of a sudden, his arm was grabbed and now without realizing, this vampire was tossed on the bed and all he could do is dumbfounded stare at this redhead. Now Iori was on top of him and while he pinned this brunette's hands above his head, with other one he started to choke Kyo. This Kusanagi barely have any understanding what is going on, but that Yagami's piercing gaze lets him understand that he won't escape so easily. Now the redhead hunter says in cold and disappointed tone ''So, you have finally shown your true face, vampire…''. Even when Kyo felt a high pressure on his throat, he tries to defend himself through pitiful groaning ''Ya…gami…it's not...not…what-…'', but that only more infuriated this man, who hangs his head down and bits his lower lip. Now the hunter furiously barks at him ''You two-faced chimera! Disgusting fury! Wench creature!…'', this vampire only freezes in shock while being called like that. However, after this redhead removes his hand from this nocturnal creature's throat, Iori covers his eyes and as his lips started to shake, he bites as hard as he could his lower lip until the first droplets of blood shows up. Now the redhead hunter only sorrowfully growls ''Curse you!…why?…''. However, Kyo could swear that he could see that Iori's palm, which covers his eyes, started to soak, more important, that hand, which pins this brunette was trembling. Of course, this Kusanagi softens his gaze even if Yagami couldn't see this vampire. Despite that, Kyo frees his arms from the hunter's grasp and now Iori wipes his face with his shirt sleeve. Yagami didn't speak or moved for a while, just hanged his head down. Even so, this vampire broke the deadly silent in gentle voice ''So, you did sense it… Why haven't you finished me before that thing took control over me? But it doesn't matter anymore. Maybe it was my fault for not telling you earlier that there is something deep inside me that become more active after I drank that potion. I-I hoped that you won't need to encounter this part of me, which was responsible for that incident five years ago… So, it's okay if you hate me, mad or be disgusted. However, hear my last wish, will you?''. As Kyo managed to get away from being under Iori's pressure, he sits on his knees and now this vampire continues with a bitter-sweet smile on his face ''I can entrust this task, because you can do this. So, give me a sec.''. Just before leaving the bed, this brunette checked whenever Yagami was awake or not. However, after seeing a dull yet sorrowful eyes of the hunter, this brunette left the bed and looked for a specific weapon on the table where were putted this redhead's accessories. After this Kusanagi picked the hunter's whip into his hand, he silently hisses in pain, yet once he returns to the bedside, this vampire sits on his knees and places the whip on the bed. It seems that it peaked Iori's curiosity, even if he still refused to say anything. For now, it was like an impossible task for this redhead to speak up, just because he felt how something stuck inside his throat and how even saying a single word can make him lose himself again. Kyo takes the tip of the whip and tried to ignore that fake burning sensation while touching it. That's right, this vampire started to wrap the whip around his neck and after a couple circles, he passes the handle to Iori, who just widens his eyes and stares in disbelief at Kyo. Nevertheless, this Kusanagi says in gentle and calm tone ''All you need to do is pull it. So, hurry up, cos it started to burn my throat.''. Of course, Yagami knew what to do next, so, after picking the handle and tightly grasping it, he lifts his hand and… After leaning closely to this vampire, he stretches his hand to grasp the tip of his trustworthy weapon and replies in quiet but scolding tone ''The fuck you think you're doing, you stupid vampire. You'll just hurt yourself.''. Now this redhead started to unwrap his whip from this brunette's neck while explaining ''I have no interest in whatever it may be possessing you. Even if it would be as strong as SS rank monster.''. Once Iori tosses his whip on the ground, he places his hand on his chest and after placing his other one on Kyo's shoulder, confesses in determined voice and without letting his eyes down from this vampire's '' I will tell you this until you finally get this. All I need is you, Kyo! Only you can satisfy me.''. Surely, it made this brunette widen his eyes and swallow his saliva. Probably it was even the first time when the hunter calls him by first name and that definitively sent shivers down his spine, which followed by this vampire giving a shyer look. Yet Yagami continued ''Even after first our encounter I sensed that there is something special about you. So, I'll do anything to awaken your full potential. You thought that you'll scare me by your inner demons? Don't make me laugh… Now thanks to that, you need to learn how to control and surpass it. So, who knows what else you still have hidden, you stupid vampire.''. Nevertheless, Kyo was speechless and could just stare at Iori. Hell, he was not sure how to react to such an honest confession nor how to deal with it. Meanwhile, Yagami just observed the healing wounds on this brunette's neck. It seems that this brunette's gaze once again become lively and after he chuckles, he asks ''What is it with you? You were the one, who told not to stare at, but you do otherwise~ What should I do with you…''. After this Kusanagi takes one Iori's hand into his both hands and closing his eyes, he exhales through his nose, this vampire places this redhead's hand on his cheek and starts to rub his cheek against that palm. Surely, such a gesture surprised Iori, yet he allowed Kyo to do as he pleases for now and maybe tomorrow he'll ask what exactly happened five years ago that made this vampire shiver in fear. Somewhere in a more desolated part of the city~ The moonlight was blocked by the darker clouds yet thanks for working time from time to streetlamps, a certain back-street alley was partially enlighten. At this time of the night not even a single smart soul would dare to walk any close in this district. However, as thick gray smoke submerges into the air, the local fauna as a rabid hungry pack of dogs starts to bark more fiery and loudly after cornering their new prey. Now the large sweaty palm slams the concrete wall and the owner of this fat and hairy arm corners one certain arrogant brunette, who could have been mistaken as a high-schooler. This young man who wore a black sport jacket with having his sleeves rolled up and a hoodie off, light blue jeans and a pair of white sneakers. Surely, it didn't affect at all this Kusanagi, who continued to give a smug look while keeping his hands in jeans pockets. Kyo only closes his eyes and brushes away this bigger man's in his late forties arm, and now says in chill tone "Back-off. I don't want to reek like a trash, bub." while this nocturnal creature casually walks through the gang of several street thugs with hands in his pockets. However, it seems that this brunette was stopped once he felt how someone roughly placed a hand on his shoulder and started to squeeze it. This Kusanagi only hisses and tries to shake-off that hand with his shoulder, yet it wasn't useful. So, now this brunette rises his hand, but it was caught by one of these men while he could feel how the another arm was placed behind his back and being bent. More so, that man behind Kyo, pressed his body against this brunette. Surely, this vampire wanted to throw out just from that unbearable stench of cheap alcohol and sweat. However, now a skinny man with a neon green mohawk, who was carrying a baseball bat pierced with either rusty or bent nails on his shoulder, and rib cage was seen through the loose tank top, was in front of this vampire and now mockingly barks ''Where you think you're going, huh!? We ain't done yet!''. After quickly turning his head and spitting on the side, he continues ''A shitty brats needs to learn to respect adults.''. Now this fiend reveals his half rotten teeth and smiles. Apparently, this situation couldn't get worse, even so, the mohawk guy heard a command from the large muscular man, who had a bunch of tattoos all over his upper body ''Search all over him.''. Just when this type bends down, Kyo use his chance. He kicks this fiend right into the face and making this punk lose his balance. Now as soon as this vampire hangs his head down, he immediately yanks it up and smashes to the person's head behind him. Once this brunette was free, he uses his elbow to strike the same guy behind him right into the guts. However, soon enough the other couple of thugs charges at him at once, howling as blood-thirsty beasts. Yet Kyo's reflexes were faster. This brunette suddenly ducks and rolls into the main street. After he stands up and removes the dust from his clothes, this Kusanagi notices that some thugs were getting up, so, without a second thought he runs away. It was a cowardly retreat, but it wasn't worth to waste his effort and time on these scums. More important, if he keeps fighting, then this brunette may reveal his vampire side and that definitely would cause him more problems than use. Surely, walking around while his sharp vampire fangs and his crimson eyes showing up without any doubt would attract unwanted attention from simple people along with these stupid hunters. More important, if Kyo activates his true form, he would need a lot of time to rest before restoring his strength once he returns to his human form. So, he would to worry about finding a proper hide out. Apparently, this vampire never had the same place for his long slumber twice. On one hand, one might think, why does this nocturnal creature won't simply kill a lonely or suicidal person and take over their house as his own? Unfortunately, this vampire shown no desire to aimlessly kill - be it for satisfying his hunger or just for temporally stay. Besides, it was rather a very rare case when Kyo actually have activated his vampire form. Even if he felt a hunger, this brunette wouldn't hesitate for too long to look for a better bite. At least then he can feel when to stop and leave his prey just unconscious. So, if he liked any of his victims' blood or at least finds it decent quality, he was ready to wait until they'll recover so that this brunette could hunt them again. More important, Kyo heard countless confirmed rumors about what kind of miserable fate awaits for the vampires, who ignores their blood-thirst for too long. If it was only for being an easy target for the hunters, this nocturnal creature wouldn't care less, however, there was one thing that sends shivers down his spine just from remembering that incident. That's right, not so long time ago he knew a very strange yet kind vampire, who after falling for a human woman, has completely refused to drink blood at all. However, vampires cannot survive without preying on humans, because no other living creatures' blood or any synthetic substitute would be able to satisfy their hunger or keep them alive. More important, these nocturnal creatures can starve for mostly a week or two before they grow weak and least likely able to control when they can stop themselves while eating. Even so, if one has ignored these sent body signals and warnings, then it was like a signed death sentence for any ignorant fool. That's right, the primal instincts takes the control over the mind and body of a vampire without any way back to normal. So, one evening this Kusanagi accidentally saw by his own eyes how that same vampire, who swore to never prey on any living creature, was now howling like a wild beast while his prey was ferociously slashed by his nails and being eaten. Unfortunately, this fellow creature's prey was his beloved woman, whom he swore to protect at any cost, but now it was nothing more than a piece of bloody meat. This ferocious monster was already beyond of being recovered and only the blond hunter's sword's slash silenced this wild beast when its head was severed from a body, which now splashes like hunter's face looked so proud and calm while he delightfully observed his slain target. However, Kyo freezes in fear once the blond hunter looks towards his side. Hell, is he a next target? Of course, this brunette just suddenly closed his eyes and run away - it was simply shocking how drastically instincts can change even most peaceful nature vampires into berserk, if they ignore their basic needs and go against their own nature. So, to this very day such a memory serves this brunette as a good reminder as well. But for now, this Kusanagi finally lost a track of these street thugs and ended up in a civilized part of the city. Now this brunette unzips his sport jacket and checks the inner pockets. Thankfully, his won money were safe and sound, which he has received after defeating all his opponents. That's right, whenever Kyo needed a quick cash for finding a shelter to hide from the sun, he always participated in annual fighting tournaments sponsored by local crime-lords, who just simply were bored and ready to pay any amount of money to entertain themselves. Surely, this brunette's fighting skills not only helped him to defeat his enemies, but also attracting a lot of attention. From the first glance, being offered to become a bodyguard of influential mafia bosses and promised a better life when this Kusanagi wouldn't need to worry about sleeping on the streets, sounded like a good option, but he declines this kind of opportunity each time. Mostly, because Kyo didn't like the idea of being a submissive dog and taking orders from anyone. Besides, if someone discovers that this brunette wasn't an ordinary human, he will have more problems than use. Secondly, aside to getting a lot of fans, who either admired his skills or his looks, there were already a lot of jealous people, who, in best case scenario, wished that he was dead. So, being a target of street punks or any nastier types was unavoidable part of his earned fame. Of course, this vampire could kill anyone who threats him, however, beating shit out of them was fair enough, even if he needed to hold-back and hide any traces of his true identity. Meanwhile, Kyo placed back the money back to the inner jacket's pocket, he began to look for the nearest inn or cheaper hotel, where he can rest until the another night. Besides, this brunette wanted to take a long shower and remove the traces of these thugs smell. Now the only concern was whenever he can find anywhere ethereal oil on his way, at least that would help to reduce that irritating feeling of the water when it touches him. Part 2 of 5 A month has passed since then~ No new attacks or being targeted by either hunters, either by angry mob. Finally, this vampire had a temporal peace of mind and even started to enjoy of being able to mind his own business without being bothered by pesky types. Besides, tonight was such a fine evening and this brunette planned to hang out with a couple good friends, so, after stretching out, he puts his sport's jacket and was off to go. It seems that the city was drowned in the light of streetlamps, neon signs and colorful ads, lastly, just being full of life. More so, being mixed in the crowd also helped to get unnoticed like any other human, who were just either rushing home after having a long day at work, or simply enjoy this evening alone or surrounded by a good company. However, for this brunette it was also a good way to seek out for his next prey, because even if the crowd of countless people passing by, he could easily sense a person from having such an appetizing scent of blood to rather those, whom even this vampire should avoid. But for now, this Kusanagi continued heading to the destination place, right now even the hunting can wait. However, just because he was half spacing out, this brunette ended up going to a completely different direction. Apparently, it was one of the biggest parks, which was separated from the noise of the city by the taller trees. Of course, it was also a well-known place for couples, who also wanted to get away and relax by enjoying the little touch of the nature and gardens. Secondly, in the evening, this park was enlighten by light decorations, which reminded of the stars and flowers, and the street lanterns to lighten any wanderer's road. Surely, this brunette could simply turn around and rush his step since he had no reason to stay here. However, all of a sudden he stops walking after this brunette hears an ear-piercing scream of a young woman. This vampire knew that he shouldn't interface since it wasn't any of his concern, on the other hand, humans are already insensitive to each other by being blind and deaf when a completely stranger to them is crying out for a help. Besides, he perfectly understood that no living creature of this world will ever care about him as well. Nevertheless, instead of ignoring this incident and moving on, he decides to follow the direction of voice. Once again this voice cries for help, but this time it grows louder and more pathetic, lastly, being suddenly cut. Kyo could sense that he was not that far away, so, he naively hoped that he may still able to save this gal. After this vampire reached the scene, he noticed how a group of middle age men in their late forties cornered their prey, who was a young nun, who barely reached her eighteen's. More so, it seems that this maiden's black and white veils and coif have been stripped away and revealed her long and wavy dark color hair. Poor gal's face was twisting in pain and fear as her arms were forcibly being held behind her back by one tall and massive man. Now this gal only closes her eyes and cries as she was about to get violated by that man and hearing a mockery ''Look at this bitch! Already shaking hips…Ya wanna get fucked so badly, huh?!'', however, just when another man was getting closer and about to touch this nun's lower body part, he was disturbed by the indignant voice of one certain brunette ''Oi, leave her alone, you old pervs!''. Of course, the mob stared at this Kusanagi approaching these men while he was keeping his hands in the sport jacket's pockets and giving a furious look on his face. Despite that, one of these thugs laughs like a hungry hyena ''What's ye problem? Mind your own business before I'll beat shit out of you! This slut needs to -'', the further talk was disturbed by an upper cut, which sends this man on the ground while he coughs in blood. Apparently, Kyo's punch was that strong that it broke this thug's jaw and made him choke on his own teeth mixed with blood while it looked that the eye-balls could jump out of the eye-sockets. Just when the rest of the gang prepared to attack this impostor, the tall man, who pressed this maiden against his body, rises his hand and commands in serious and deep voice ''Not yet.'' and after sadistically smiles, adds in insulting tone ''It seems that this horny brat wants to join us.'', now this man addresses this brunette in the same voice ''Wait for your turn 'til we fill that whore or you wanna take her place like a good boy? Scram!''. Surely, Kyo didn't show any wish to give up and asks in serious tone ''I won't repeat twice. Let her go.''. However, such an insolence only annoys and rises the anger of the mob. Nevertheless, even if Kyo felt how there was a gun pressed against the back of his head and the blade pointing at his throat, he still remains unaffected by this threat and now just listens how these men barks at him ''The fuck is your problem, kid?!''. Now this brunette sharpens his gaze and remains silent while the leader of these men, who holds poor gal as a hostage, insults in low and deep voice ''Where all your guts now? I bet ye already shat your pants. So, go and change them, kid, before your brain will be blasted.''. Now one of the men lowers the knife, which was so closely to this brunette's throat, waiting how this young man reacts. Nevertheless, this Kusanagi didn't give into the provocation and instead of answering, he just smashes with the elbow the man, who was behind this brunette, into the guts. As soon as this man nearly loses the balance Kyo smacks him without turning back. However, just before the guy in front of him stabs him, this brunette hits this thug's stomach with his knee. Surely it was enough to make such a big man fall on his knees. Now this Kusanagi kicks this guy into his chest until he harshly hits the ground. So, now only one is left, and it should be a piece of cake, or so, thought this brunette observing how this massive man brings the knife to the poor nun's throat. Of course, this vampire now tries to negotiate in as calm voice as he could ''It's over, you fool. I suggest you to give up and not cowardly hide behind this woman. Besides, how should I tell you that it's wrong to abuse innocent people just because you're an asshole?''. However, the leader of these men just sadistically smiles while in a voice full of malice answers ''This is where you're wrong, you little piece of shit… If you want this bitch that much, I'll give it to you!'' and now rips-off the tunic of this maiden. This long-haired gal only freezes in fear and sudden humiliation as her pale skin was revealed, which was only covered by a white bra. However, when this woman widens her eyes in terror and screams, that tall man picks the knife into his hand and with one sudden movement slices her neck. As the blood was splattering, he pushes this nun towards Kyo until her dead body leans on him. This brunette was dumb-founded as he catches this corpse in his arms. As this vampire smells the sweet scent of the dark red liquid and how it was so warm and a soaking into his clothes and covering his skin, his eyes started to glow in crimson red and his sharp fangs shows up. Eventually, even his knees gave up on him while he hugs the dead body. All this seemed so unreal and fake, like this nocturnal creature could see him from distance, without recognizing who he was. Even so, now the leader of these street thugs was with-drawing and fells on his back, he yells ''… G-Get away from me! Monster!'' yet a second later that voice was full madness and laughter, now this man continues ''A bloody killer! A…and the rapist! He...help me! He's going to kill us!''. Apparently, even barely conscious thugs hoped to escape as well, however, once that massive man notices someone walking behind him, his eyes were still full of despair yet eventually sparkling with mixed excitement ''The…the hunters. Of course! They would show up! I'm... I'm saved!''. Apparently, the supposed savior was a blond vampire hunter in white, who seemed like a divine being, carrying a sword to declare the lord's judgement and slain all the creatures of the night. A man in his mid-twenties with the face of an angel and long blond hair, wearing a long white coat, gray pants and black gloves while carrying a broadsword in the sheath behind his back. That's right, he was the legendary veteran hunter, the ex member of the Hunter Guild - Kain R. Heinlein. Even this man's stance was calm and proud. While he was getting closer to his new target, the leader of the thugs rushes on his knees and begs for mercy in pitiful voice ''Sa-save me! I'll pay you as much as you want, just save me from this monstrosity!'', it seems that this blond only slowly closes his eyes and frowns. Once this blond open his eyes, he answers in a voice filled with utter disgust for this pathetic creature ''Shut up, pig. You are so annoying.'' and after he takes out his trustworthy weapon, he beheaded this man. While the rest of the members tried to fled away, without even being able to react, they met the same unfortunate fate as that criminal. Kyo was still in shock and still feeling like out of the touch with the surroundings. However, as the blond hunter was in front of this brunette, he points the tip of the blade at this vampire and stares at him down for a while with a delightful gaze as a viper finally cornering a small and helpless animal. The atmosphere only grows more tense and heaver. Even this Kusanagi could sense the intimidating and piercing gaze, yet all he could do is stare back while already a cold dead body was still pressed against him. Finally, the blond breaks the deadly silence in a polite yet cold voice ''Here you are, little murderer. You thought that I won't notice your perfectly exposed vampire energy? What a lazy creature are you… You haven't even put any effort to hide yourself.''. However, all of a sudden Kain was alerted for a brief moment like remembering something important and now cracks a smile ''Wait a minute… I think I saw you before.'' now this hunter chuckles and continues ''Aren't you that same brat, who watched me killing one of your little friends? Have you had a fun watching it before cowardly escaping?''. Nevertheless, this vampire's lips were shaking as he tried to say something, but in the end, it was only like a voiceless prayer. Kain only enjoys observing how his target barely doing anything, and now he comments with slightly teasing ''Do you think you will get away by making these pitiful eyes, vampire? You are just making me laugh.''. Finally, this Kusanagi indignantly declares from the top of his lungs ''I DID NOT MURDER HER! All I wanted is to help this woman. I swear!''. Surely, such a confession surprises the hunter, but it seems that he just casually replies ''I know, you don't need to bark as a dog. More so, you failed. However, do you think that anyone else believe in such a low-life as you? Even if this woman would be alive, will you be able to get away and live peacefully? You'll be seen as nothing as a blood-thirsty monster being chased until you're dead.''. It seems that this vampire started to return to his senses, but even if he knew that he may be just another victim of Kain, Kyo gently lay down the corpse on the ground and once he returns his gaze to the hunter, he just gives a stubborn look. Apparently, this blond remains chill and puts his sword into the sheath. Once he kneels down to face this vampire eye to eye, he suggests ''Even a low rank monster as you can be still useful. Vampire, if you do as I say, I may release you someday, and I'll pretend that we don't know about each other.''. This Kusanagi had enough and when he silently growls at the blond hunter, he releases a quick punch at this arrogant bastard's face. Unfortunately, Kain's reaction was faster. He catches the thrown fist at him. Now while having such an indifferent look on his face, he holds his sword by the handle below this brunette's arm and concentrates his strength into it. One sudden strike with the handle, and it was followed by the cracking sound of broken bones. Poor vampire only could scream in pain and once the hunter let his arm, this brunette fells on the ground while curling into the ball. While his face was twisted in agony, and he was whining, the blond says in strict tone "Who gave you a right to decide something on your own? You are going with me." and now he uses the sheath of his trustworthy weapon to strike into the guts of this brunette. Even if Kyo's consciousness nearly faded and his vision was fading, he could still vaguely hear how this hunter says something before he grabs this Kusanagi's back of his sport jacket's collar and after standing up, dragging him somewhere. Part 3 of 5 Somewhere an unknown amount of time has passed~ It seems that this vampire started to wake up. He wasn't sure where he was, but as soon as this brunette's vision becomes more clear, he could notice that he was in some sort of cell, or at least it looked like from his new surroundings - old brick walls, which were either cracked or started to rumple, weak lighting installation above him, and lastly a metal bar door, which separated this brunette from the outer world, which, apparently, reminded a dungeon or an old prison. In any case, once he heard the sound of getting more close steps, this vampire was alerted and tilts his head. Of course, he tried to move his arms, but his struggling was in vain, and now he felt a burning pain around his wrists. It wasn't an ordinary rope, that's for sure, otherwise, he would have no issues torn it apart and escape. However, this nocturnal creature notices a familiar person behind the metal bars. Unfortunately, it was none other than a blond long haired hunter. After unlocking the cell and entering inside, Kain calmly and politely addresses this Kusanagi ''Guess who decided to wake up? You took your time, low-life.'' now he observes this brunette with a sharp as a falcon, who spots an innocent and unsuspecting bird before instantly killing it. Kyo felt a familiar crushing intimidation from the hunter. However, now this brunette replies in slightly shaky and indignant voice ''What a hell, you want from me? And why you dragged me here?'', the blond only closes his eyes and cracks a smile, once he opens his eyes he delightfully answers ''Even a weak creature as you can useful to me. So, before I'll finish you off, I need your body.''. This vampire widens his eyes and as he frowns, this brunette grids his teeth ''You think that a scum like you will get away so easily? Untie me and face me, you coward!''. Nevertheless, such a pure reaction of this nocturnal creature was so satisfying for the blond hunter, who comments in proud but with sensible malice tone ''As lively as always. Let's see how long you can keep this attitude before you beg to be killed. Vampire, even as a low-rank monster, you have something what I need. However, I'll be kind this time and even let you pick where we start.''. Now Kain picks a knife and pliers from his coat's pockets ''Day by day I'll remove some of your body parts. Don't worry, a degenerated and rotten creature like you can slowly heal your wounds or even body parts. Today you can pick whenever you want your nails, ribs, fangs or eye-balls removed. Which one is it?''. However, no answer from Kyo, he just silently stared at Kain nervously. Nevertheless, the hunter brings the pliers so closely to his face and now continues ''You want me to pick it up for you then, don't you? How about today we start with your disgusting fangs? So, open your mouth wide before I'll shatter all your teeth.''. And thus, this brunette's slow and never ending torture begins. However, between each removal of picked organs, Kain patiently waited until this vampire regenerates lost parts and meantime he would bring so-called food to keep his little toy alive. Apparently, the blond didn't even bother to care about the quality or even what kind of creature's blood he was receiving. It could have been any dead animals' or birds' blood, yet never a human's. More so, each time the hunter throws a dark red liquid like a dish for a farm animal, because he saw all low rank monsters or demons as nothing more than disgusting slugs. Even by giving food for this vampire, he adds a different either insulting, either bitter comments like 'a pig's blood for a pig', or anything that may make this brunette's existence even more miserable. Nevertheless, it was boring as hell to wait until one of the removed vampire's organs regenerate, so, this blond hunter also had to think of how to kill time. And thus, he came up with one idea, which brings a smile to his face. Time from time, Kain would even bring people outside this Kusanagi's cell and treat him as a creature from the freak show. That's right, before the visitors' arrival, he would cover this wounded vampire's face with a bag and reveals this brunette's face as he was the most degenerated and utterly disgusting creature, who walks on this land. Sometimes this blonde hunter even adds some variety by spraying water from a water hose while condemning the existence of this sinful creature, who only brought the pain and sorrow upon innocent people. Besides, it's only these weaklings fault being born in the world, where they don't belong or never will be. No matter how much such a pathetic and disgusting creatures will try to pretend to be humans for their solely nefarious purposes, they will be terminated. A slug is a slug no matter how you look at it, and its right place and purpose is only to crawl in the mud, and it will never fly as a butterfly. Or so, this how Kain thinks of any inhumane species. The only reason why he would let them breathe for a bit longer was only butchering them as farm animals and get value ingredients from their body parts. As for this vampire… In the end, Kain got fed-off of his caught prey and found him useless. Lastly, once this brunette barely even shown signs of clinging into a life or resistance and these eyes were dull and soulless, he simply decides to get rid-off Kyo. After all, he was just another pesky bug, which, after you cut its wings or legs, becomes unworthy and deserves to die slowly alone without being able to do anything. So, after he wraps around the rope soaked in holy water around this nocturnal creature, he drags him out of the cell. More important, this blond knew a perfect place to discard this Kusanagi, where awaits everlasting suffer from not being able to die. Some time has passed~ It was a misty and moonless evening. Finally, Kain reached the coast of one of the lakes outside the city. Fortunately for him, his rented motorboat was already tied next to the shore. So, before setting his feet on the boat, he calmly smiles after seeing a concrete block left next to the boat. This hunter was satisfied that everything once again goes according to his very well thought plan. However, the only thing that he wished right now that this Kusanagi would be more lively and resist a bit more. After all, it was way more amusing to finish any of these low-lives, if they would put the same effort and acting as they were just being captured. Nevertheless, now the blond hunter attaches that block closely this vampire's feet, even if he perfectly knew that such nocturnal creatures are vulnerable and useless when they are in the water. However, it was natural that he wanted to make sure that not even a single or smallest detail would stand on his way, so, always preparing for the worst wouldn't hurt, right? Or so, told to himself Kain. Once the blond was done with this task, he places Kyo like a sack of potatoes on the motorboat, and after he starts the engine, he drives to the middle of the lake. Lastly, the blond disposes this brunette's body into the water. This vampire sinks into the water as fast as a thrown axe and now this nocturnal creature was swallowed by the depths of the lake. As the ice-cold water splashes around the drowned body, Kain starts the engine and eventually leaves this place. Finally, this vampire will meet his doom alone in the never-ending darkness and regret of crossing his road, or so, this blond thought while happily humming. As Kyo reached the bottom of the lake, he was still fully conscious of what his happening yet his body was so weak and paralyzed thanks to that nasty liquid surrounding him. He could hear how the various fishes from small to big ones were swimming around and living their lives like ignoring this new pesky impostor's presence. Eventually, this brunette lost the sense of the time, but did he really care anymore what is awaiting him? He was left alone to suffer being trapped like this in eternal darkness and coldness. At a time like this, this Kusanagi wished that he was a human being, at least then he could drown and die. However, thanks for being born as a vampire, a creature who supposed to rule the night, he was pathetically weak for being even close to that. Hell, his own body become his own prison. Nevertheless, Kyo was somehow relieved that all this time his instincts were silent and didn't act up. So, maybe he was abandoned after all… However, now he hears a familiar voice, which nearly sounded as his, inside his head, whispering in gentle voice ''You poor unfortunate thing… This what happens, if hoped that you can treat the same as any human being or acting as one. It's their world and anyone, who is different from them, do not belong here. However, you probably realized about making a mistake. So, this time I'll give you a second chance.''. This voice only chuckles in deeper voice and now continues ''What's all happened suddenly to you? You're doubting. You are asking me who am I? What an idiot! I am no god nor devil, but I follow your each made step and move, waiting 'til you get weak until I can control your body for a while.'' now the shadow figure behind this brunette takes a shape of him yet transparent as a ghost, he floats around Kyo until he faces nocturnal creature. After this dark skinned brunette with crimson eyes and sharp fangs, places his palm under this vampire's jaw, he brushes it towards one of Kyo's cheeks. This creature named Kusanagi just stares at his pale look-alike and delightfully smiles. Now he continues his sweet yet malicious speech while keeping his hands in the pants pockets and thrusting his chest towards this Kusanagi ''Took long enough to realize~ 'Can't blame you… However, you sure that you really want to die like this? 'Cos, deep inside I can feel otherwise. You are afraid but at the same time full of regrets, aren't you? You wish that you had enough power. But I can change it, it's not too late. Once you are on the land, all you need to do is lending your body to me until we regain enough of the strength. So, how about it? Do you want to end your suffer right here, right now? Or do you want to have another chance and start a new life?''. 'Nagi only floats until he was behind this brunette's back and now hugs him from behind. After Kusanagi places his head on Kyo's shoulder, he widely smiles as a Cheshire's cat ''You made a right choice. However, don't forget about our deal when the right time will come.''. Soon enough this creature disappeared, leaving this brunette alone. Was it only a hallucination before his own doom? However, one thing for sure, he felt that this creature could read his mind and feelings as this Kusanagi was an open book. More important, he wanted to believe that his struggling will end soon. So, without a second thought, he desperately wanted to cling into a new life where he can start all from the beginning. Part 4 of 5 Unknown amount of time has passed~ It was a fine evening accompanied by the dancing stars in the sky and the crescent moon, which shines above the lake. Meanwhile, Kyo was still drowned in the bottom of the lake and only a singly fishes swims through him. As time went, even the water plants started to surround him, with some even touching against this brunette's body. It was a disgusting slippery feeling, but this Kusanagi doesn't mind that much. At least, someone were close to him. More important, he even got used to being embraced by the calm rhythm of the water movement and such calming sounds. Hell, he even forgot about seeing that illusion or made a promise to that creature, like that was just a dream. However, all of a sudden he could hear a sound of heavily splashing water in a distance somewhere above him. This brunette had no idea what it was, but at least that added some variety of his new routine being day by day trapped. Soon enough, there was even the ray of the light surrounding a silhouette of a scuba-diver, who swims deeper into the depths of cold water. However, this Kusanagi didn't have even the slightest hope that this fellow is aware of his presence or even find him. Nevertheless, after wandering for a while, the diver points the flashlight at a rather big vertical object. Was it is some sort of ballast or thrown away sandbag? Now this man swims closer to take a better look at his discovery. It seems he so shocked that this diver nearly dropped the only source of light in his hand. There was even a fear in this man's eyes, visible through his diving googles, but even if he was shaking, he pokes a found dead body and desperately hopes for any response. No answer from the tied up brunette. The diver only with-draws his hand as fast as it touched something dangerous. Now this man rapidly swims to the surface of the water. He was afraid, but he felt that he needs to warn his friends. Maybe they could be next victims by the merciless killer. After the scuba-diver finally reaches the surface of the water, he was holding into the wall of the large motor-boat. Now this man removed his scuba snorkels and googles while catching a breath. Surely, this kind of behavior wasn't unnoticed by the other couple of people on this boat. One of them was a middle age woman with a long bleached curly hair wearing a wine color lipstick and the other one was a man in his thirties having a short spiky brown hair. Of course, these two helped their friend to get into the boat and the brunette diver, asks in serious voice ''Whoa, what just happened? You look awful!''. However, when the fellow diver shakes his head, he announces in nervous voice ''Shit… You won't believe what I found! The...there is a corpse of a young man in the bottom of the lake! So, does anyone have a knife? We need to pull him up! He…his feet are tied to something! Fuck… Why this has to happen… What if we are next?''. It seems that the redhead woman still remains with having a cool mind, and she frowns. Even so, such a stressing out only started to get on her nerves, and now she gives strict commands ''Then what are you waiting!? Let's take him out and call the cops. Why are you two here? Move! We need to act quick!''. Surely, none of these men dared to oppose this woman and after everyone puts the snorkels and googles, they dive to the action. A good hour has passed and this trio reached the land along with the picked corpse, which had such a pale skin and nearly blueish one around the hands while his wet hair were sticking against his cold face. More so, from staying too long in the water, Kyo's skin also was so terribly cold and got wrinkled around his hands, the neck, probably even under his clothes as well. Even his sharp fangs disappeared and his gaze was already lifeless and empty. After these couple of men lay down this brunette's body, the same man who noticed him first, comments in concerned and pitying voice ''Poor little guy… These criminal scums are nothing more than a cowards picking up their fights against the weak and the children. Why they have to be left unpunished and to this day taking innocent lives? Parents' hearts probably going to be torn apart from sorrow when they learn about such a cruel fate of their son while these nasty bastards maybe enjoying themselves.''. Now he bends down and covers this Kusanagi's eyes with his palm and shuts them down. After he stands up, this guy felt how his shoulder was patted by his brunette friend. Right now, they removed the air tanks behind their backs. However, the bleached blonde woman, asks them ''Can you two stay here for a bit? I need to change clothes, and I'll get the phone. So, I should return soon.''. It seems that this couple only nods and without commenting, watches how this lady goes. Soon enough this woman shows up with a phone in her hand, and it seems that she already changed her diver outfit to her regular black tank top, white jacket and the frilly white skirt. Now she addresses her supposed friends ''I called the police. They should arrive any time soon. So, for now all we have to do is wait. By the way, are you staying here or what? 'Cos I don't want to stay any close to a corpse. It gives me bad shivers.''. Apparently, while this trio wasn't paying attention to the corpse and just chatting together, they did not realize about the rising threat. All of a sudden this Kusanagi's palm twitches and now his skin slowly was getting smooth again and regaining a normal color tone. Soon enough his both palms briefly twitches, and he suddenly opens his eyes. Apparently, his face shown no emotions or expression. Despite that, even his gaze was indifferent and empty, but these eyes were glowing in a deadly red. Right now, this brunette suddenly moves his upper body up so unnaturally like he was pulled by an invisible strings. However, for a brief time he freezes in this position. Lastly, Kyo returned to his senses, however, now he realized that something was wrong. He tried to move any of his body part, but it was useless. Even so, he involuntarily clenches his palm into a fist and then relaxing it when he didn't think of doing that. It felt like he could still see what is happening from his own perspective, to hear or feel, however, his body was being manipulated by some kind of force or power. Now this brunette instantly remembers the made promise while he was in the bottom of the lake and now realizes, who controls him. That's right, it seems that this what 'Nagi meant, and he wasn't joking around. But even knowing this wasn't assuring thought at all. More so, he perfectly knew what this darker brunette planning to do and that scared him. After Kyo was made to forcibly stand up like a rag-doll, he was with his head and hands being hang down, however, soon enough this brunette's upper body rapidly leans backwards. Apparently using someone's else body as it was his own wasn't a simple task for Kusanagi, but it didn't take long time to figure out how to use it as his own. Even if he couldn't control the mimic muscles, 'Nagi still felt satisfied by what he is capable in this body. This darker was now being able to walk while managing to keep the balance. These unsuspecting fools don't realize about their doom, or this is what kind of threat in singing voice echoed inside Kyo's head. Once Kyo was behind one of the men's backs, who were light-heartly joking with their friend, he reveals his razor sharp nails. Now with one sudden strike, this vampire slashes this man. The fellow diver harshly fells on the ground while the stream of blood splashes on this Kusanagi. The fallen victim's friends only widen eyes in terror as they start to run. Unfortunately, this brunette caught the brown-haired diver and with another slashing strike beheads this man. As the body fells like a rag-doll, the blood was splashing a fountain from this man's neck. However, Kyo manages to catch the head by the hair and now after lifting it into the air, starts to drink that dark crimson liquid. His eyes started to glow in excitement. It felt like water for the person, who thirsted for too long in the desert, however, this brunette's face still remains indifferent while he greedily gulps each sip. Nevertheless, while this nocturnal creature was wiping his mouth with a jacket's sleeve, his gaze was now fixated at the escaping woman, who desperately cries out for the help. Poor lady was pretty far away from that blood-thirst monster, however, she hits the ground by accidentally tripping over the popped out root of the tree. As soon as this blonde shakily gets up on her elbows and lifts her head, she freezes in despair and her lips were trembling and silently begging for the mercy. She even started to crawl away. Apparently, this nocturnal creature was faster, and now he stands in front of his next victim. After kneeling down, this vampire grabs this woman by her throat and stands up. She tried to remove this monster's arm from her neck and even attempted to scratch it with her nails. However, it was only a futile effort. This lady was now afraid to move even a single muscle of her body when this brunette grabs her by the shoulders. Now after he opens his mouth and reveals his sharp fangs, this vampire sinks them into this woman's neck. Couple seconds and this lady's life was snatched away by this feasting on her a blood-thirst killer. However, during the whole time Kyo just observe how he was staining his hands with innocent people's blood while by being under Kusanagi's will. After a while this brunette tosses away this woman's body and wipes his mouth with his jacket's sleeve, however, 'Nagi's was still not happy. ''It was not enough, and it was barely an appetizer. We need more.'' or so this dark being's voice inside his head demands him. It didn't matter what this Kusanagi felt or thought, for this darker brunette satisfying hunger and feeling the thrill of crushing someone's life by his hands were more important. Now this nocturnal creature seeks for more innocent souls to play with. However, after wondering for a while, Kyo found a small town where he knew will become the center of massacre by his own hands. Part 5 of 5 In a meantime a young maiden, who looked in her early twenties was heading to one small town to pay a visit for her good old friend. She perfectly knew that she would get scolded by the other nuns for leaving the dormitory at such a late hour, but personally giving a birthday present and greetings to a close friend seemed more important. That's right, even at such a young age, but this maiden already has become a nun and gave her oath to the lord and the church. After all, she was raised by a group of the kind and merciful nuns since she was very little. More so, growing up in this kind of environment didn't scare this maiden, and she decided to consecrate her life being as servant of god. However, once this nun reached the town, she was so shocked that she dropped her basket and her knees were about to give up on her. Nevertheless, she tried to convince herself to stay strong and now grasps a rosary around her chest tightly. After she picks her carried basket, this nun goes deeper into the town. This maiden wonders who could be behind this bloody slaughter scene and who was responsible for that massacre. All the town people were dead and some of them missing limbs or horribly slashed. Despite seeing such a warning to not come deeper, this maiden process further. After wondering for a while, she reached the town's square where she met a first living being. Apparently, that young man was all covered in a blood as well. Poor brunette was sitting and with his back leaning against the block on which was the monument statue. Was he the only survivor of this terror? This nun approaches closely to Kyo, who just pressed his palm against his head, covering his eyes and forehead while groans. After she kneels down, she carefully places her palm on this brunette's cheek and now asks in gentle and concerned voice ''Are you alright? Can you get up?''. However, now she hears a shaky begging from this young man ''Do…don't come close to me. You...you'll get hurt too. Get away from me!'' and this Kusanagi suddenly unleashes a slashing strike. Fortunately, this maiden with-draws quickly and pays-off only by having her coif falling from her shoulders and her veils falling down on the ground as well. Now her long blonde hair with slightly waved fringe were revealed. It was that close enough for her to taste the sharp nails and end up as any other victim of this nocturnal creature. However, soon enough an upper slashing attack was sent towards her. She only closes her eyes and rolls away. This blonde opens her blue eyes and notices how this brunette was harshly panting and once again covers his twisting in pain face. The poor creature only shrieks and whines like he was facing an invisible foe ''Noo…leave…leave my body! I-I don't want thiiis…''. Right now the blonde nun wonders whenever this poor boy was possessed by an evil spirits and fighting them so badly, if so, she feels that she needs to help him, even if it meant to finish him off and release this brunette from his suffer. She didn't know how to do it, but as long as she has her silver rosary near her, this young maiden has no reason to be afraid. So, after she stands up, this nun was starring this vampire, she could hear this vampire's pleading ''Run!… Why are you here?! Before…before it's too late!''. Of course, this pathetic creature's begging and screaming scared this maiden, and she wanted to cry and run away. Yes, she could feel how she was shaking, but she keeps walking toward this Kusanagi, hoping to save this unfortunate soul. However, it seems that her kind wishes were ignored. Now this brunette charges at her with another slashing strike. Poor maiden only fells on her knees and closes her eyes ''NOOOO!'' while accidentally stretching her arm towards this vampire. Nevertheless, something else happened instead. She could sense a blowing wind, which rustles her long hair. This maiden was somehow still alive and once she opens her eyes, she was surprised to see how this brunette was knocked out by some kind force. Unfortunately, Kyo managed to find strength to stand up eventually and preparing for another attack but still holding down. Was he trying to resist to that evil force, who controls him? Now this maiden realized that if she could summon her power again, she could definitely weaken this creature and then use her rosary. This nun frowns and with determination in her eyes, stands up. After she stretches her arm towards the vampire, this maiden slowly lowers her palm and as she addresses this brunette ''Repent for all your sins!'' lifts her palm up. Now a strong whirling wind was sent towards this nocturnal creature. Nevertheless, he was too slow and now this brunette was caught by a furious wind. As he was lifted into air, Kyo could feel the countless cuts all over his body made by this wind. This nun lifts her arm and suddenly lowers it causing the wind to toss this Kusanagi up and then forcibly smash him into the ground. Even this maiden reached her limits, and she fells on her knees and hugs her one arm while she lowers her head and pants. After all, it was still rare case when she was forced to use her power, which she hides even from the church. When she regains her breath, this nun lifts her head and now noticed the unconscious young man, or so, she assumed. Once she manages to stand up, she walks towards Kyo. When she close to him, this blonde maiden kneels down and checks on him. Apparently, this Kusanagi's started to lose that crimson color in his eyes and returning to his formal one and vice versa, while his fangs disappeared. Right now he was heavily panting but at same time like trying to say something. This nun felt bad for this creature, even if she realized what she has fought against just couple seconds ago. However, her heart nearly broke once she heard separate words like Kyo desperately asking to live and someone to never haunt him ever again. Yet this maiden removes her silver rosary, and after she brushes this brunette's hair from his face, she told in gentle and caring voice ''Poor boy… May the Lord bless you and rest in peace'' and places the rosary on Kyo's forehead until he let's out a final gasp. Before leaving this creature alone, the blonde places her hand on this Kusanagi's throat, and she felt relieved - this brunette had a weak pulse. Once she puts her rosary on, she looks for her basket and black veil. When she finds it, she fixes it yet without bothering to cover her fringe and takes basket into her arm. When she returns to this vampire's side, this blonde nun only sighs and thinks how to pick him up. So, after figuring out, she throws this brunette's arm over her shoulders and now once she gathers all her strength, tries to stand up while commenting ''Oh my, you are not a very light fellow, are you?'' and then murmuring ''…even if this supposes to be another way around…'' and continues commenting ''Please, just endure for a while.''. Now she decides to return to the dormitory and the very least concern for her was to be scolded by Sisters Rachael and Annette for sneaking out. Fortunately, that the dormitory, where this blonde was living wasn't that far off, so, it took nearly hour to reach it. Of course, her path felt much longer thanks for carrying this poor young man. So, after she reached the door of dormitory, this nun knocks into the door by using her fist. It seems that only after a couple of minutes, she could hear footsteps behind the door and someone finally opening it for her. Apparently, it was a woman in her fifties wearing a long-sleeved white night-dress and cap, holding a flashlight. Now she starts to scold a younger nun ''Sister Goeniko, what are you doing at time like this? Aren't you suppose to be resting in your room? Wh-who is this young man?''. However, the blonde nun replies in serious tone ''Something terrible happened in the nearest town. All I could see was the endless sea of blood and countless lost souls. It seems that this boy was the only survivor of this nightmare. Sister Annette, we need to treat him as soon as we can, because maybe it is the will of our Lord to show his love and care through our actions to this young man.''. Surely, there were more questions, which the older nun wanted to ask, however, seeing heavily wounded brunette seemed a bigger concern for this woman. Annette only closes her eyes and sighs. Goeniko had a point and now this old nun says in forgiving voice ''Alright, then let's carry him inside, and I'll call more people to help us.''. As both nuns were carrying Kyo to a vacant room, the blonde maiden adds ''Sister, there is one thing I forgot to tell about.'' the older woman only gives a questioning look while this gal continues ''He may be sensitive to sun-light or simply wouldn't like to rest while it is too bright, so, could we keep the curtains shut for entire day? If anything, we can keep them open whenever our guest says it is fine…''. As the other couple of nuns made a bed and prepared the water for the wound cleaning, these two lays down this unconscious brunette into bed and starts to remove his dirty clothes. However, right now Goeniko addresses every nun in this room ''I really appreciate your help and effort, but you can go rest. Don't worry, I can handle this and if anything, I would ask.'', it seems such a request of this young maiden surprised everyone and now one tall nun in her thirties asks ''It's alright, you are already working hard enough. So, you shouldn't forget to take care of yourself as well.''. This blonde wasn't so glad for this response, yet she manages to disguise it under a warm smile and trying to sound as polite as possible ''It's fine, Sister Tessa, I can handle this. Plus, I woke you all in the middle of the night and disturbed your rest. So, I'll take the responsibility for that.''. 'Agree, you stupid dimwit, before I shut your small mouth, you are standing in my way', or so, this is what this blonde wanted to add, but kept it inside her head. ''If you say so. However, don't forget that you are not alone, and you can trust us.'' added the nun, who was about to drain the wet towel. It seems that only after a while Goeniko was left alone and now as she shuts the door and leans her back against them, she closes her eyes and sighs. Finally, this blonde can study better her brought creature. After all, not everyday you can encounter and even observe a legendary blood-thirsty monster from being so closely to it. Of course, this maiden was curious about her new finding, and now she decides to check out whenever vampires can heal their wounds. More important, what else these creatures are capable of? There were so many things to find out and discover. And thus, with such a pure excitement to learn something new, this blonde walks closely to the night table where was placed the bowl with warm water and towel inside. After draining the small towel, Goeniko starts with this Kusanagi's face. It seems that burn mark left her rosary already disappeared, like that never happened in a first place. However, what else caught this blonde's eye, was how all the cutting wounds made by her wind already were gone too, only the dried blood remained as a proof of this maiden's power. Surely, it was so fascinating for this nun how these creatures of the night are blessed with the ability like this. Too bad that it was still a lot of time before the sunrise and that upsets Goeniko. But it can't be helped then, as soon as the first sunbeams will appear, this blonde will test another myth about vampires, or so, she thought while taking out the bowl of water out of the room. For now, she decided to let this new guest to rest while he can. Several days have passed~ It was a sunny and bright morning, the sky was so blue and an only couple of fluffy as a freshly picked cotton clouds flows in it. However, it seems that the cheerfully singing birds were interrupted by the sound of echoing bells. That's right, it was the time for the prayers in the church, which was in the west side of the city, and warmly inviting anyone to listen to the word of their lord. As people were gathering inside and taking a free seats, they waited for a prayer to start. After the priest and group of nuns shows up, the crowd's gaze was fixated on one of the nuns. Even the atmosphere, which surrounded this pure and innocent young maiden, was so serene and warm. One could also probably mistake her with an angel under the nun's clothing, who was like sent from the heavens to bless a simple people by her gracious presence alone. Once this gal turned her head to face the countless believers, they were mesmerized by her kind bright blue eyes filled with the love like a holy mother's and her gentle-featured face, which was as pretty as a doll's. However, when the priest was in front of the altar and surrounded by these nuns, the Mass has begun with the foreword to the introduction. Even so, people were singing the introductory song along with the priest and the chore of the nuns, but the crowd was fixated on listening to this maiden's voice, which was like a divine blessing, which comes straight from the lips of an angel. And thus, this is how started another Sunday morning at this sacred place. On the same day~ It was a calm evening accompanied by the setting sun, which soon will be completely hidden by the forest in the distance. The warm beams of orange light were breaking through the stain-glass windows of the church, and now it reached the statue of the holy maiden and in front of it, one very concentrated nun, who closed her eyes and while holding a silver rosary, was praying. However, with the last words of prayer, this moment of peace was disturbed by a call of middle-aged woman ''Ah, here you are, Sister Goeniko… Have you finished the evening's prayer? Should we return? It is nearly a time for preparing the dinner.'', this young nun faced the fellow sister and cheerfully replied ''Sure, just a second, Sister Rachael.'' and follows this middle-aged woman. For now, this blonde plays along while cannot wait until that moment when all the day's works are done and everyone will be asleep. After all, this nun planning to test the theory how fast vampires can regenerate lost limbs or reattach them and whenever the cuts made by silver blade can't heal. Plus, this nun wonders whenever that vampire will finally wake up tonight or still will be slumbering. A few hours have passed~ The platinum light of the full moon was shining bright down to the dormitory. Only a rustling tree leaves in the disturbed the divine peace tonight. It was also the time when one blonde nun wakes up. Now the only concern of this maiden was not waking up her roommate. After picking a flashlight, which she kept under the pillow, the blonde switches it on and now as quiet as she could, she looked for her black veil and her long black tunic. Once she was done putting these clothes on, Goeniko once again looks under the pillow for one specific item. That's right, a day after she brought Kyo into the church, she had a visit from one of the vampire hunters, who were here to get holy water. So, this maiden haven't missed her chance and talked to the hunter and asked in a return a silver dagger, according her request 'to protect herself from evil spirits'. Surely, another day and she got the blade, which she keeps in a secret from the others. But for now, once the blonde got what she wanted and picked her silver blade, Goeniko silently leaves the room and carefully reaches the staircase. So far this nun's plan was successful, and she hasn't encountered any of the seniors. For some reason, this kind of 'stealth mission' slightly thrills this maiden in black. Once she reached the first floor, Goeniko looked for the guest resting room, where was currently sleeping one certain brunette. After reaching the door of this room, this nun silently opens it and switch the lights on. Apparently, this Kusanagi was still peacefully asleep and didn't show any signs of waking up. This maiden only delightfully closes her eyes and as she approaches her little test subject. Finally, a perfect chance to put a theory into the practice. After she picks the silver blade into her hand, she sits next to this sleeping brunette. ''Where should I start then…'' Goeniko told to herself in such an innocent voice and once she points the tip of the dagger from this vampire's bell up to the middle of his chest, this blonde wanders ''Should I start with the chest and see if such unholy creatures have a beating heart or is it rotten as your soul?''. However, once the blade was placed vertically and aimed to stab this nocturnal creature, Goeniko's face goes pale, and she widens her eyes. Apparently, her hand was stopped by someone grabbing her wrist and making her drop the dagger. That's right, it was followed by a serious voice of this brunette ''And what you think you’re doing with that dagger?… Give me a rest.'', after noticing, whose hand he was holding, this vampire gives a questioning and doubting look '' Wait… You look familiar. Who are you and where am I?''. After sitting up, Kyo notices that he was wearing nothing, and now he asks in slightly concerned tone ''What have you done to me when I was sleeping, and where are my clothes? Don't tell me that you used me for something shady.'' This nun only cracks a quick smile and now gives indignant look for this brunette as she shakes her wrist off from being hold by this Kusanagi ''Move your filthy hands from me. ''. Surely, such a gesture surprised this nocturnal creature, despite that, Goeniko tried to remain chill and now in strict voice adds ''Are you having impure thoughts, you foolish boy? Whatever it is, I'm not interested to hear!'' and now shows the back of her palm. Apparently, there was a golden ring on her ring finger, and now Goeniko continues ''Can you see this? Look. I already gave an oath to the Lord along with offering my body and soul. So, your earthly desires do not concern or move me.''. Need less to say, Kyo was confused by such declare out of the blue and replies ''Calm down, miss. I don't know what you're talking about, but you gave a headache. So, chill out and relax.''. However, it was followed by this blonde complaining ''All I did is taking care of you, you ungrateful fool! And this is how you pay back? You better be glad, because I was merciful to let you live and kept in silence about whom you really are, vampire. Otherwise, who knows how it would end.''. Now only gave a silent proud look to Kyo, who only places his hand behind his neck rubs it while replying ''I don't know what is your problem, miss. Or what you are holding against me. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate that you knocked me out back then with that nasty cross-thing, 'cos that helped me to return my senses. However, why did you go through all this trouble just for stabbing me? If you wanted to kill me that badly, you should have done that during our first encounter.''. This blonde nun only bits her lower lip and replies in serious voice ''Keep your foul talk to yourself. Since your kind is feared by many and forsaken by the Lord, I want to learn why are you so terrifying and why your existence alone is a sin. More so, learning more about what can hurt and weaken you, will help to get rid-off any of you. So, you should be more than willing to assist me by being a sacrifice.''. This vampire only face-palms and shakes his head while replying in annoyed voice ''Please, why even your church people have to came up with this bullshit and act like saint by killing someone they don't like? Give me a break.''. However, it was the last drop of Goeniko's patience, and now she climbs on top of this brunette. After she pushes this vampire down against the bed, the blonde removes her rosary and wraps it around this Kusanagi's wrists. Once this nun picks the blade from the floor she holds it in her both hands and now was about to stab this vampire into his heart. However, all of a sudden, Kyo's voice echoed inside this blonde's head, making her eyes wide open ''Cut it out!'', it was like this nocturnal creature's voice was strong to get through and reach each body cell and part of this maiden that made her freeze in same spot. She couldn't move a single muscle, no matter how she forced herself. More so, it felt her body wasn't belonging to her anymore. Was this vampire planning to kill her? All Goeniko could do is stare at these crimson eyes without a single movement. Surely, this brunette was surprised what just happened as well, but now he gathers all his strength and will to break the rosary and now as he sits up, he lowers this blonde's arms. Strangely, there was no resistance from this woman, but he could sense that she was trying to do it so badly. This brunette only softens his gaze and continues in chill but at same time scolding tone ''Enough. You think that you are doing a god's job by being ready to kill by covering behind his name, but you're just making yourself look worse than those whom you despise. If I'm not mistaken, you humans believe some kind of thing called god creating everything, and you were taught to love and cheering each of his creations, right? However, if so, then, he created us as well. So, why are you treating some better and some like unworthy even to breathe? More important, you nuns are known as merciful sisters, who are kind and caring…I ain't going into a deeper talk, so, I'll leave it to you to think more about it.''. It seems no matter how Goeniko tried to resist, but she was still like under the spell of this nocturnal creature while he left the bed and started to look for his clothes. After he checked the closet near the bed, he found his outfit, which seemed to be fixed and washed. Once he puts it on, this Kusanagi walks closely to the window and opens it. Just before leaving, he bids a farewell to Goeniko and leaves. This maiden was left alone staying on her knees and soon enough she regained the control over her body. But for now, she hung her head down and bitter tears starts falling down her cheeks. Goeniko never felt so defeated and so vulnerable. So, while she can't stop to silently cry, she wished to become strong enough to put creatures like this vampire to their true place, even if she needs to train her power of the wind. Meanwhile, Kyo was already far away from the church territory, but this brunette was still trying to figure out why and how this gal was paralyzed. However, deep inside he sensed and feared that maybe that being called Kusanagi was just messing with him. So, in any case, he decided to try whenever it was just a pure luck and coincidence or was it some kind of new ability to paralyze his victims by a voice. To be continue... One thing he was sure of: it’s been a while since he slept so well. How long had he been sleeping? As Yagami opened his eyes and sit up, he noticed how dark it was inside the room as the blinds were closed. There were also lingering signs of the presence of a certain brunette. Just where in the world went that trouble-making vampire? The hunter got up and switched the lamp on top of the night-drawer. At the same moment he grabbed his pants from the chair, that also had Kusanagi’s jacket hanging on the back, he heard the door being opened. It was no other than Kyo. For some reason this vampire spoke in an unsure tone ‘‘Oh? So, you’re awake. Perhaps, I should check on you later...’’. Seeing Iori so provocative, wearing nothing aside that long white shirt, confused the nocturnal creature - he simply didn’t know how to act. Yet, his honest reaction spoke for himself, even if it was only by widening his eyes and swallowing his own saliva. At first, the redhead did not understand the reasons behind this vampire’s curious gaze. "The heck you are staring at? Don't just stand there and close the door, you stupid vampire." replied Iori in an irritated tone. Surely, the red hunter would have another reason to be more careful around this immature stupid vampire. Yagami sat on the edge of the bed, and while putting his pants on, he asked ‘‘Anyway, where have you been and how long did I sleep?’’. Kyo awkwardly answered ‘‘Well, you slept the whole day, that’s for sure.’’. While Iori raised his eyebrow in suspicion‘‘Oi, you don’t need to stare like that! You looked so calm and peaceful, I didn’t want to disturb you. I just wanted to let you rest as much as you needed. That’s why I asked one of the inn-keepers we were extending our stay. And, of course, I got a couple of bottles with ethereal oils for myself.’’. Now this brunette adds in a slightly annoyed tone ‘‘I know~ You can thank me later, or, how you love to say, use that whip. We can stay here at least until next evening.’’, and softening his gaze, he added ‘‘ You need to learn there are times you should stop for a bit and just take a break. Besides, if you feel sick or tired, I can’t feed on you. That would be pointless and you may even die. Plus, who will put me down if I go berserk or what if that thing takes control over my body? ’’. The nocturnal creature exhales through his nose and sits next to Iori. The redhead hunter just couldn’t avert his gaze from Kyo, who’s amber eyes sparkles with affection ‘‘So, if you are all right, I’m all right too. That’s why, if you won’t take care of yourself, then I’ll make sure that you do. Besides, there would be no fun in defeating a half-dead person~’’. Yagami closed his eyes and sighed. What a persistent and stubborn vampire, or so he thought. Since Kusanagi seems to be in better mood, the hunter uses his chance, and now as he fixates his serious gaze, Yagami changes the topic ‘‘You won’t change so easily, huh? … Since we have all night ahead, I’m ready to listen what you have to say. Go on, I’m waiting.’’. Of course, Kyo cracks a nervous smile as he takes his eyes from the redhead, while replying in a slightly shaky tone ‘‘What are you talking about?’’. Iori replies in a calm yet serious voice ‘‘You know perfectly what I want to know, Kyo. What horrible thing happened to you in the past?’’. The brunette lowers his gaze and answers nervously ‘‘ I’ve told you enough… Besides, you would just blame me for all that happened. Perhaps, you would even throw me through the window when the sun rises. I’m a disgusting monster and deserve to suffer slowly for all what I did, ain’t I?’’. While the brunette hugged himself, Yagami could see the nocturnal creature’s fingers sinking deeply into his skin until they became pale. Kusanagi even started to feel how something began to choke making it almost impossible for him to speak up. Kyo’s wide-open eyes have become watery, yet he managed to continue, in a pitiful tone, ‘‘Why do you want to know that? Even you would say that it is my fault and see me or treat me the same way as tha-at… that hunter. So, no. There’s no way for you to learn about that!’’. It seemed that the more the nocturnal creature spoke up, the more his body becomes stiffed and the less he could remain stable. Kyo leaned forward and placed his hands on his head, ‘‘Why?… Why do you want to know that!? I-I don’t want to go through that suffer and humiliation again! It’s so cold and dark... It hurts! Please. No. JUST STOP ALREADY!’’. The vampire was trembling and whining so badly, that Iori could see that Kusanagi’s hands were soaking wet, even through his covered face. All of a sudden, the brunette fell silent. However, the silence didn’t last long: Kyo’s lips started to tremble upon murmuring something in barely hearable voice. Even the redhead hunter’s voice didn’t reach him at all. Perhaps, the vampire was sinking deeper and deeper inside his world made of painful memories. Iori was the one who could pull out the brunette from never-ending darkness. He couldn’t hesitate any longer and before placing his palm on vampire’s back, he spoke up in a serious tone ‘‘Enough. Snap it out!’’. The brunette was startled even by that careful touch, but still turned his head towards the source of the voice that was talking to him. However, something was off… Kyo’s gaze was staring, lost into the void, empty, yet filled in terror. Perhaps, Kusanagi was already drowning in that world. Just as Yagami leaned closer to the brunette, he was frozen on the same spot after hearing a begging scream ‘‘DON’T FUCKING TOUCH ME, YOU SICK BASTARD!’’. All of a sudden, sharp nails slashes across the hunter’s chest. As the blood splashed like a stream, Iori felt on the ground with a painful groan. Unfortunately, as the deep crimson liquid splashed on Kusanagi’s cheeks, a familiar scent of Amaretto reached the vampire, and he finally returned to his senses. All of a sudden, Kyo could hear his own loud heartbeat ringing inside his ears. The creature of the night stared at his stained nails, breathing rapidly. That tingling sensation of dark warm liquid against his fingertips managed to awaken his primal instincts, fit for a perfect killer. Kusanagi could feel how his body was aching to taste the mellow scented blood of his prey. However, as the Amaretto scented blood was dripping from his fingertips, the brunette’s eyes traced the path of the falling droplets. It was that brief moment when the vampire broke free and went against the call of his cursed nature. When he noticed Iori’s hard panting, whose shirt was now being dyed in red, the brunette quickly rushed to his side. Meanwhile, Yagami placed one hand on his wounded chest, and with the other one tried to push himself up. However, his attempt ended up with a failure, and he found himself gazing at Kusanagi instead. After sitting on his knees, Kyo placed his arm behind the hunter’s back and brought him closer to his own body. Of course, the brunette felt guilty, even if he cannot figure out what just happened. The fear of someone dying on him was stronger than his instincts. The closer he was to Iori, the harder it was to fight-back against his greedy desire to feed on this human. Nevertheless, the vampire closed his eyes and shook his head. After opening his eyes, Kyo spoke in an apologetic and sorrowful tone ‘‘Oi… What happened to you? Hey! Don’t you dare to fell asleep on me…’’. Hell, he knew that if he didn’t stop the bleeding, Yagami might die: he had to act fast. After a quick scan of his surroundings, he found nothing. Just before he could do anything else, he was interrupted by the sound of opening door, which was followed by the angry voice of one of the inn-keepers ‘‘What a hell are you up to? Keep quiet! You disturb other customers’ rest, you dumb idiots!-’’. Apparently, it was a redhead diclonius woman wearing a black jacket and red tank top, lastly a pair of tight jeans. However, her indignant gaze changed after noticing the bloody scene and the vampire holding his prey. Of course, it shocked Irene, who just nearly growled ‘‘The heck happened here?… You scum! Using our inn for your nefarious purposes. I won’t forgive this! ’’. The brunette just stared at this woman, desperated, ‘‘I beg you! There is no time to waste. Help him first and then you can do whatever you want with me…’’. The long-haired diclonius covered her mouth with her palm and shook her head ‘‘For fuck sake… why can’t you two stay calm and behave?’’. As she clenched both of her hands into a fist, she turned her head away and called one certain person ‘‘Hey, Sonia! Please, bring me a band-aid and first med-kit! A man in Room 104 is injured!’’. After Irene turned his look at this couple, she started to demand ‘‘The heck you stare at? Move! He’ll die if your lazy-ass won’t do anything. Grab any piece of clothing and cover his wounds, you dimwit!’’. Surely, that was like a harsh slap into this vampire’s cheek, but it helped him cool his head. All of a sudden, he rushed to accomplish this task. As Kyo pressed the messy bed-sheet against the redhead’s chest with both of his hands, the brunette tried to comfort the wounded man, however, the concern in his voice over-powers it ‘‘Please, stay strong! Just a little and everything will be fine. Hang in here, Yagami…’’. Just as Irene was about to open her mouth, a shy, yet serious voice behind her, interrupted her ‘‘Sorry for making you wait!’’. It was a long-haired brunette, with a longer fringe split in half on the sides, who gave a serious look despite having such big eyes. Unlike previous time, this young woman wore an official outfit - aquamarine shirt, and gray below knees skirt and black panty-hose. Sonia rushed into the room, carrying a first aid kit with both of her hands, and tripped. Irene turned her head and hastily stretched one of her invisible arms to wrap it carefully around her partner’s body. As the redhead diclonius made sure that this brunette was standing safe on her feet, she softened her eyes towards the woman and addressed her in calm and deeper voice ‘‘Be careful next time, Doctor Warden. You are needed more than ever~’’. The long-haired brunette could only widen her eyes and shyly reply, as her cheeks dyed in darker pink ‘‘Irene…’’. As she kneeled , Sonia opened the med-kit. She finally regained her serious face and took out the medical spirit and grabbed a white bandage. While the brunette unwrapped the bandage, she politely addressed Kyo ‘‘Could you, please, remove that sheet and make sure that the area around your friend’s wound is exposed and accessible?’’. Unfortunately, Yagami didn’t desire to be a part of this: as soon as the vampire removed the bloody bed-sheet, the redhead tried to push himself up. Yet, his effort was utterly crushed by the strict demand from this woman, who soaked the folded bandage in in a generous amount of medical alcohol ‘‘Stay still. Right now your duty is to let us wash your wounds and treat them.’’. It seemed that Kusanagi didn’t want to argue with the brunette: after all, Yagami's life was in this woman's hands. So, getting scolded or receiving an avalanche of the redhead's complaints could wait until he fully recovered. The vampire exhaled through hid nose and placed his hands over Iori’s bloodstained shirt. This action was followed by Kyo's apologetic look "I know you will kill me for this when it's over. But it is for your own sake.". As he closed his eyes, Kusanagi grasped the shirt more tightly. After he opened his eyes, the vampire unbuttoned Iori’s already ruined shirt with one sudden movement and exposed the redhead's chest. Certainly, it was nearly impossible and painful to look at the awful-looking bleeding wound. On the other hand, Sonia shed no sentiments towards the injured person and kept her poker-face. Even her given tasks were short and clear "Hold him down and do not let him move. That is one of resistant types.". After turning her head towards the redhead diclonius, she gave another demand "Irene, I need more bandages and alcohol.". Her words were followed by the other woman’s calmed acceptance of the task, while she left the room "Got it." Kyo let the redhead rest his head on his knees. At least that could help prevent the hunter from hurting himself, if he started to struggle too much. As he held down Iori's hands by the wrists, the long-haired brunette brought the bandage soaked in medical spirit close, near Yagami's injured chest. The woman warned them before starting the procedure, in a calm, yet polite tone "It is going to sting a little. So, please, endure it.". One thing for sure was that burning pain, when the cold alcohol touched the redhead, it made him thrust his chest forward and turn his head on sides. Fortunately, the vampire’s knees were soft enough to absorb the hits, yet holding the hunter down wasn’t an easy task at all. More so, as Yagami roughly breathed, his chest bloated at the same rhythm. Seeing the fearsome vampire-killer suffering like this, made Kyo feel bad for Yagami. While he observed the redhead, an unbearable pain flooded his chest as it were his own. And yet, all he could do was to comfort Iori ‘‘Just hold on a little bit longer. You can endure it, I know that. Besides, I’m here by your side. And when you get better, you can call me a stupid vampire as always.’’. Part 16 Half hour has passed~ Finally, as the long-haired brunette finished tying the snow-white bandage into a knot, she calmly commented ‘‘There. This should do for now. My part is done, so, now I’ll leave the most important part to you, vampire.’’. As Kusanagi helped Iori stand up and get into the bed, he honestly asked ‘‘What do you mean?’’. While picking up the bloody bandage and the first aid-kit, the woman answered ‘‘Make sure that your friend rests as much as possible. Right now, one sudden move and his wounds will open up. So, please, avoid causing even the slightest stress.’’. Lastly, the long-haired brunette walked towards her companion and gracefully passed her med-kit "Let's go, Irene. There’s still a lot of work left for us to do.". The redhead diclonius' calm gray eyes sparkled with delight upon hearing her dear friend's request while ignoring, how she calls, that lousy pair of trouble-makers. After Irene placed her arm behind Sonia's back and both ladies left the room. Finally, these two were left alone. However, the brunette decided to keep a safe distance from the hunter: right now even having eye-contact with him seemed like an impossible task. The corner near the closet was the perfect spot to sit down while hugging his knees- Yagami could not see him, Kusanagi couldn’t bother the wounded man. Or so thought Kyo. Neither one of them tried to break that tense and awkwardly long pause. Apparently, Kusanagi not only had to be careful with his vampire strength so he wouldn’t crush the hunter's wrists, but he also had to contain himself from feasting on Iori, while he was at his most vulnerable. Fortunately, the smell of medical spirit over-weighted the unbearable tempting Amaretto scented hunter's blood. Eventually this nocturnal creature's eyes returned to its former color, but left behind the fangs of the blood-thirsty monster. The brunette involuntary placed his fingertips around his lips. It seemed that his fangs started to slowly disappear. However, this did not change the fact that next time it might not end so luckily. What if these primal instincts took control over his body and he ended up draining the redhead until the very last drop. That is why, in order to bring no more harm to Yagami, the vampire knew that he had to leave. Besides, after such a sudden attack, he might have already lost the hunter’s trust. Perhaps, there was no forgiveness for the brunette. That’s why being seen or hunted down as another demonic creature, wouldn’t surprise this vampire at all. Or so, Kyo thought, as he stood up and tried to leave without making any noise. However, the brunette stood still, after hearing the hunter’s serious yet exhausted voice ‘‘How long are you going to keep that act? Show yourself already, you stupid vampire.’’. Kusanagi did not want to face the wounded redhead right now, but he didn’t want to enrage Iori either. The nocturnal creature decided that it was pointless to cowardly avoid the hunter and prepared to accept his punishment. The brunette clenched his hands into fists and tried to calm himself. Yagami just stared into the ceiling with a tired gaze. Without even bothering to look towards the vampire, the redhead addressed him ‘‘Come closer. We need to talk.’’. After nervously swallowing saliva, Kyo walked to Iori’s side and hesitated for a second. However, the redhead assured him in a tired tone ‘‘It’s fine. I didn’t say that you need to stay away. I just want to know what happened to you and what is it that scared you.’’. When the brunette sat next to lying Iori, he showed a guilty look while replying ‘‘Does it really matter? Besides, the past is in the past, and you would be disgusted of what I did.’’. The vampire hunter tried to sit up, but Kyo placed his hand gently on Yagami’s bandaged chest ‘‘Don’t push yourself. You need to rest as much as you can, Yagami.’’. Despite the gentle warning, Iori only closed his eyes and sighed ‘‘I can’t. Not after you attacked me, vampire. I need to know what you went through and the name of that other hunter. Either way, I’ll make you speak, Kyo.’’. The brunette smiled bitterly, ‘‘In this condition? You know, I could easily take advantage of you when you’re like this.’’. The redhead chuckled and replied in a more relaxed tone ‘‘You? Don’t make me laugh. You could have killed me so many times. Whether on purpose or not, you missed so many good chances of finishing me. Besides, I can put you down any time, if I want to. Not even death will stop me to remind you of your place, Kyo.’’. The hunter stared at the vampire. Surely, these words surprised Kusanagi, who tried to remain cool by brushing his hair with his hand. The nocturnal creature sighed deeply and stood up ‘‘Are you sure that you can handle me so easily, Mister Vampire Hunter?~ First, get well before I can fairly defeat you.’’. The vampire left the bedside to get his jacket. After returning to the bedside and sitting on the same spot, Kyo put his white jacket around Iori’s shoulders ‘‘I don’t want you to catch a cold. If you want to learn what happened five years ago so badly, I’ll tell you about it. However, if I catch you falling asleep, I’ll smack your head, got it?’’. The brunette lowered his gaze and confesses in a shy tone ‘‘I… I never told this to anyone before. So, you’re the very first person to learn about this.’’. With these words, the nocturnal creature began his story. Yagami listened carefully without missing a single detail - from the vampire’s fights and countless victories on underground tournaments, to his daily routine. So far, the brunette could retell everything in such a casual tone. However, he became stiff and uneasy when it came to talking about being falsely accused of a murder, that wasn’t even his fault to begin with. Once again the brunette started to feel the familiar discomfort and fear, that remembering the hunter, who traumatized Kyo by prolonging his suffer before he was disposed. Seeing how Kusanagi’s eyes widen while his skin became pale as a paper, made Yagami feel sorry for the unfortunate quivering creature. Iori interrupted Kyo in slightly concerned tone ‘‘What’s wrong? A hunter shows up and then what? What did that person do to you?’’. The brunette could feel like something stuck inside his throat, preventing him from speaking, it felt like if he said anything more, he might break any second. The nocturnal creature lowered his head and bit his lower lip, before answering in a trembling voice ‘‘You don’t want to know… Why would you want to hear how humans can be more cruel than any wild beast? Even the most ferocious animal would warn before attacking… Day by day I was tortured and punished for being a ‘disgusting beast from hell’. I wasn’t even allowed to die… or… being killed…’’. All of a sudden, Kyo turned his lowered head away from the hunter and tried to hold-back from crying. Instead to remain watching, Iori placed his hands on Kyo’s arms and brought him closely to his chest. The brunette rested his head against Yagami’s chest. Once the redhead wrapped his arms tightly around the vampire, he could feel Kyo quietly sobbing. Eventually, Kyo started to cling into the hunter by placing one arm on Iori’s shoulder, while the other one sorrounded his torso. Yagami could feel how his bandage began to soak in the vampire’s tears, he let Kusanagi cry as much as he needed. It seems that even a simple gesture as stroking the brunette’s back, made Kyo cling even more to Iori, so he could let all of his sorrow and pain out, until his eyes turned red and sore from shedding countless tears. Seeing the brunette so vulnerable and broken for the first time, made Yagami want to embrace this nocturnal creature tightly, until he could become once again, that lively and energetic trouble-maker he bickered with. Neither of them spoke a single word: words were useless during this rather an intimate and close moment. Just as the vampire started to calm down, he just listened to the heartbeat and breathing of the hunter. The redhead’s presence alone was like the perfect cure. A cure that helped him calm down and also soothed the howling his endless pain inside the heart caused. Iori spoke in a calm tone while stroking the brunette’s back ‘‘Can you tell me at least where were you hurt?’’. He did not expect the answer from Kyo this time. However, while Kusanagi kept his head pressed against the hunter’s chest, he replied in a sore voice ‘‘You could as well ask where I haven’t been touched or harmed… It might… might be easier to answer. Even my true vampire form was so useless in front of that man. You know, that hunter fed-off of keeping me as a showcase for people and disposed me into the lake. That moment I really wished that I could die as a normal person. But no matter how much I begged and prayed, I could not die.’’. Yagami asked ‘‘Enough… Do you know the name of that hunter? Can you tell me at least how that shameless bastard looks? Perhaps, if it is from my guild, I’ll recognize that hunter.’’. Kyo took a deep breath ‘‘Why do you need to know? I don’t know his name… But it was the same blonde hunter, whose wrist you broke. So, you better avoid him or else you’ll… Please, even you have no chance against that merciless killer.’’. The vampire continued ‘‘You wanted to know about me so badly, that’s why you deserve to know. When I was sealed at the bottom of the lake, I could not move or die, only my consciousness remained sharp and clear. Then that voice from the depths of hell whispered so softly and promised me a new life… Of course, I was so desperate to live! So, without thinking I agreed and offered my body, which that dark creature wanted… ’’. It was hard to listen to the brunette’s unfortunate tale, but the redhead didn’t interrupt ‘‘I did not think that such an innocent promise would bring a tragedy and endless pain and suffer. Once I reached the surface of the land, that creature took control over my body and used me to enjoy a bloody feast and slaughtered the entire town. My hands got stained with innocent blood even if it was by someone else using my own body. Only the nun, the one that can summon winds, stopped me and pressed a silver rosary against my forehead. Everything else was surrounded by the never-ending slumber of the darkness. All I remember is that I woke up without wearing any clothes with that same woman on top of me, holding a silver blade.’’. Without realizing about it, Yagami ground his teeth and growled while digging his nails into Kyo’s back. This made the brunette look up at the hunter. Almost hissing in pain, the brunette spoke ‘Oi… What’s wrong with you? You are gonna torn my skin, Yagami! Like heck, I knew what that crazy woman planned to do with me! I could tell that at the very least, she planned to use me as a sex toy… Don’t tell me that you are jealous now, you fool? More importantly, why would you be jealous? I had no interest in that woman, who was ready to kill me, because of my existence alone. So, calm yourself, you big idiot. Unlike you humans, we, vampires, are noble creatures. Different to primates, lower creatures that lose their minds to their lower half, and are ready to hump the very first-moving thing on sight! I don’t really know about you humans, but at the very least we, vampires, are rather picky. We need to be able to trust our partner and see them as an equal, we need a partner to be proud of, proud enough to spent with them-even the eternity. As Kyo started to calm himself down, he finished his story ‘‘Hell, but it seems that the only way that I survived from being killed, was discovering about my new ability. Damn, like heck I knew that my voice could paralyze people. So, after picking my clothes, I ran away, and started using my voice to hypnotize my prey… Not sure if this is what you wanted to hear. If you feel disgusted, feel free to behead me or treat me as nothing more than a blood-thirsty beast, who’s worth a nice bounty reward.’’. However, Iori did not release Kyo from his embrace and with an indignant and vengeful voice replied ‘‘You need to stay in this inn. I will find that swine, and I will make him suffer... until his last pathetic breath. I must make sure that you are safe, that is why you are not allowed to leave until I kill that evil fool by my own hands!’’. Kusanagi softened his gaze and begged in as calm tone ‘‘Yagami, no… Don’t stain your hands with someone’s blood. It’s no joking matter to take away someone’s life.’’. After removing his arms from the hunter, Kyo placed both hands on Iori’s chest and carefully pushed him down ‘‘You are better than this. If you try todo anything funny, I’ll suck your blood until you are to weak to move. Whether you like it or not!’’. Yagami chuckled at the serious and determined look the vampire wore. ‘‘You stupid vampire… Just try to eat me, and you’ll taste my whip instead. But now, you need to rest before tomorrow’s trip to Kagura’s shop and handle these texts. I still need to know what was that blue light entering you.’’. Iori wrapped his arm around the brunette and brought him close, while refusing to let him go. If it wasn’t for Yagami’s wounds, Kyo would have tried to struggle. He decided to let it slide, for now. It didn’t even mattered that his cheeks were dyed in red or how loud his heart-beat was. The vampire tried to place his legs on the bed as well. And while he was on top of the hunter, he complained ‘‘If the bed breaks, it is your fault, you idiot. But now, go and rest as well. ‘Cos otherwise, any wrong move and you’ll see in the mirror and find on your neck two red spots.’’. Even with the lights on, Iori felt fast asleep thanks to Kyo’s presence, who decided not smack the redhead for such a bold move. Despite wearing only a black t-shirt and jeans, the brunette still felt warm by having Yagami close to him. So, while he could, the vampire shared the warmth of the red haired hunter. Nevertheless, it was hard to tell it thanks to the black-out blinders, which kept away even the slightest ray of light. Finally, one certain vampire hunter started to wake up. However, when the redhead opens his eyes and suddenly sits up, the sharp pain spread across his chest, made him instantly grasp around the wounded area and briefly groan. As Yagami deeply breathes, he remembers what happened the previous night. Surely, even in the fights against the most ferocious and high-rank monsters, Iori was never that close to being on the verge of death like he was accidentally triggering Kyo’s worst memories. More so, if he was in the middle of the battle, at least the redhead would instantly take care of any beast, who will dare to attack him but now… Perhaps, it was just this brunette’s self-defense reflex. Nevertheless, for the first few seconds, Yagami saw in the vampire’s glowing crimson eyes a pure desire to kill and feast on his new prey. Iori even feared that his life would be taken by the nocturnal creature, who, in the end, gave up to his primal instincts. Yet, to his surprise, Kyo was fighting against his nature and at the same time wanting to desperately save him. Why?… Instead of that, Kusanagi's heir could just satisfy his hunger and get all the needed life force to have his revenge against whatever demon took his powers, but he didn’t. Hell, the brunette has even shown his most vulnerable and sensitive side to the hunter. ‘‘That stupid vampire… why he can’t stop being such a trouble-maker?’’ or so, murmured to himself, the redhead hunter. Speaking of which, where is he, wondered Yagami. Once he leans towards the night table and turns on the light, the room was brightened by the warm tones of orange light. Yet, no sign of the brunette. Perhaps, he is once again hanging around the inn. So, it’s time to check where this could be a trouble-making vampire. But first, he needs to get up and change his clothes. And thus, a good half-hour has passed. After leaving the bathroom, the redhead noticed one certain brunette placing a few rolls of medical bandage and antiseptic spray bottle on the table. Of course, the sound of the opening door made Kyo turn his head, yet he gently greets Yagami ‘‘Oh, so, you are awake already?’’. When he noticed how the medical bandage around Iori’s chest managed to get stained, this vampire narrows his gaze and sighs ‘‘Good thing that I took these with me. So, sit down and let’s change this old bandage.’’. However, Yagami objects in a chill tone ‘‘There is no need. It’s just a small scratch.’’. Such a reply didn’t satisfy the brunette, who now takes one of the rolls into his hand and walks closer to the redhead. As he gently points the roll-on Iori’s chest, the vampire starts to lecture him while giving such a sour look ‘‘ ‘Small’ he says… It doesn’t matter what kind of size, ‘cos if I can smell your blood scent, then other vampires or monsters will be able as well. Think, what are we gonna do if you’ll attract a lot of unwanted attention on the way? You’ll just hurt yourself. So, the sooner your wounds will heal, the better.’’. After placing his other hand on the hunter’s lower back, the brunette closes his eyes and pushes him towards the bedside ‘‘Hurry up and sit down, you big idiot.’’. One thing is for sure, the redhead wanted to tease this vampire when he tries to look serious, yet he decided that it can wait for another time. So, for now, he allows Kusanagi to take care of him. Some time has passed. Surprisingly, the vampire did a decent job. Perhaps, in the meantime, while Iori was still asleep, Kyo was learning how to treat wounds. Nevertheless, all this time the brunette was pretty calm aside when he noticed his made wound across the hunter's chest. Just then, this nocturnal creature avoided looking at it and just quickly covered it with the white medical bandage. When Kyo finishes tying the knot on the bandage, he speaks up “There. That should do… I think.”. After the brunette stands up and leaves the bed, he tidies up the dirty bandage. Meanwhile, Iori starts to look for his black vest. Once Yagami buttons up the vest, he slightly lifts the blinder to check whenever the sun has hidden behind the horizon. It was the time when these two should take their leave. So, after picking his long red coat from the closet and putting it on, Iori hears the vampire’s slightly concerned voice ‘‘You sure that you won’t catch a cold just wearing that? How about you should check the nearest shop and get something warmer?’’. As the redhead turns around to face Kyo, he irritated look ‘‘We already wasted more time here than we should. Who knows, whenever something else happened to you after that light entered you. So, put on your jacket and let’s leave this place.’’. Of course, the brunette wanted to backfire, but he knew that it is pointless to argue with a stubborn idiot. That’s why, after rolling his eyes, Kyo picks his jacket and puts it on. As soon as they leave the inn, they straight-ahead go to pay a visit to Chizuru. It was a calm night, and the crescent moon and stars were ruling the sky. Only the light breeze was disturbing the nocturnal silence by the rustling tree leaves. More importantly, there were no encounters against any monsters or suspicious types on their way. So, upon reaching the shop of one certain witch, Yagami knocks into the door ‘‘Open the door, Kagura! There is something I need to show you.’’. However, no answer, so, the redhead refuses to give up and now adds in a serious tone ‘‘There might be something wrong with Kyo. So, show up before I’ll-’’. ‘‘Before you’re what, Yagami? You don’t need to be so loud.’’ interrupted the calm and polite voice behind the door. It was followed by the ebony-haired woman opening the door and greeting two familiar faces ‘‘What exactly happened? Anyway, come in.’’. After they entered the shop, Yagami approaches the counter while looking for something in one of his coat’s inner pockets. Once he takes out the pile of alchemy texts, he handles them to Kagura. Meanwhile, the jet-black-haired witch flips page after page, she gives a questioning look to the hunter and asks in a stricter tone ‘‘Where did you get these? Did you know that these texts contain taboo topics and forbidden rituals? You should get rid of them as soon as possible. Who knows what may happen if it fell into nefarious hands…’’. Now the Kusanagi speaks up ‘‘And this is why when we found them in some sort of necromancers’ cave, Yagami wanted to give them to you. He told that you would know what to do with these.’’. However, no matter how Iori tried to sound serious, but there was sensible concern in his voice ‘‘Anyway, you can do whatever you want with these texts, but first check Kyo and fix him. There is something wrong with him.’’. It was followed by the brunette giving him a surprised and indignant look on his face. Yet, just as this nocturnal creature opens his mouth to say something, the hunter stretches his arm and covers the vampire’s mouth while silencing him with a strict look ‘‘Shush. I need to know this.’’. Soon enough, it was followed by these two making a scene. Meanwhile, Chizuru just silently observed and waited how these two grow-up children would sort between themselves, yet it seems that it might take a whole night if no longer… That’s why she knew that she had to step to calm them down. So, once she puts the texts on the counter, the ebony-hair woman interrupts their argument ‘‘Enough! If you come here just to argue, you can leave before I turn you into hairy toads.’’. Surely, it got their attention, and now the vampire makes big innocent eyes and defends himself ‘‘It’s not my fault that Yagami makes a big deal out of nothing. All I did was just slashing that giant bat into a half and then some sort of blue orb entered me. But I swear, even after we left that cave, I was okay!’’. However, it piqued this witch’s curiosity, and she asks Kyo ‘‘Did anything like this happened to you in the past?’’. The brunette honestly replies while rubbing the back of his neck ‘‘As far as I remember, nope. This is the first time.’’. After clenching his hands into fists, Iori impatiently asks ‘‘Is it anything serious or not?’’. Now, the black-haired witch takes a deep breath and replies while resting her chin on her knuckles “It sounds like he may awaken one of the rarest abilities, which can only have a highest-rank of vampires or demons. However, very few can fully use it. When a demon or monster kills their target, there is a very low chance that they might absorb the enemy’s soul and use their abilities for a brief time being. You hunters are familiar with the term ‘Power of Dominance’, aren’t you? That’s why I want to see for myself if it is a case like that.”. After looking towards the brunette's side, she addresses him “Kusanagi, I need you to cooperate with me. There is one thing, which I need to confirm. But first, Yagami should stay outside until it's done.”. All of a sudden, the redhead hunter slams his hands on the counter and indignantly speaks up ‘‘What a hell do you mean by that!? Why can't I?’’. ‘‘It is a magical ritual, which requires precision and accuracy. One tiny wrong step and you’ll damage the Kusanagi beyond the repair and destroy his mind. So, I don’t want you to disturb me.’’ calmly replied the witch. It seems that it would be pointless to argue any further with this woman, so, Iori shakes his head and turns away. Just before taking his leave, the redhead hunter adds ‘‘ Do as you want… Yet, you won’t get rid-off me so easily.’’. Perhaps, the redhead was that desperate to know what is happening to Kyo that he leaves the rest in Kagura’s hands. Either way, Chizuru gave a relieving smile ‘‘Thank you.’’ and it was followed by Yagami closing the door. Finally, they were left alone. However, the brunette doubtfully stared at the ebony-haired woman, who comforts him ‘‘You have no reason to be afraid, Kusanagi. I’ll put you to sleep, first. So, close your eyes and relax. Once you’re awake, it will be over.’’. Of course, Kyo was still not sure how this will end, but he decides to have a faith in this woman. After closing his eyes and exhaling, the nocturnal creature impatiently awaits for whatever Chizuru has planned. Now, this witch starts to silently cast a spell, and soon enough the tiny glowing orb appears on her index finger. When she pushed the platinum-colored orb inside the brunette’s forehead, Kyo instantly feels like a rag-doll on the ground. Meanwhile, the redhead hunter was leaning against the wall near the door, yet the sudden noise from the inside made him lift his head. He wanted to check if anything happened to the brunette, but he changed his mind, mostly because of what kind of curse this witch can spell. That one time of getting electrocuted by that barrier was enough to realize that it is wise not to get on the bad side of Kagura. That’s why, for now, he would just patiently wait. Now, the ebony-haired woman sits on her knees and after placing her hand above the Kusanagi’s chest, she starts to cast another spell. It was followed by a silver-colored magical circle that appears under her hand. Eventually, the nocturnal creature’s body started to float in the air. However, Chizuru gets alerted once she senses the enormous amount of dark energy surrounding Kyo. All of a sudden, the brunette opens his eyes, which were glowing in cold and piercing crimson red. After taking a better look at the brunette, Kagura noticed that his skin and hair had become darker. More so, his sharp fangs and nails showed up. Yet, it felt like an entirely different creature was in front of her. After 'Nagi breaks the magical circle and manages to stand up, he delightfully gazes at his new prey “Hello~”. Surely, it made Chizuru widen her eyes and crawl backward as far as she could from the vampire, who was approaching her. After reaching the counter, this woman looked nothing more than defenseless, despite directly staring at the dark brunette without showing any sign of being afraid. However, this witch's reaction entertained the dark brunette, who just chuckles “What's wrong, aren't you the one, who woke me up?”. Now, ‘Nagi mockingly comments ‘‘You’re barely even worth to become my food. But I guess that you’ll do for now, even if you are a worthless half-breed, woman.’’. Yet, Chizuru didn’t give up the nocturnal creature’s provocation and moves her hand towards the vampire. Just when the dark brunette is about to bend down, he dumbfounded widens his crimson eyes. All of a sudden, the blinding shock wave was sent his way. Unfortunately, ‘Nagi couldn’t avoid the impact. Yet, his defense reflexes were fast enough. That’s right, the menacing creature managed to shield himself with his arms. Even so, it was followed by his face twisting in pain and barely being able to stand. It was only a matter of seconds when his knees would give up on him. When he was harshly panting, the dark brunette growls at Kagura ‘‘Damn… You shouldn’t have done that! I would have finished you quickly, but now… You’ll fucking pay for this!’’. Meanwhile, Chizuru just gave a judging gaze and warned him in a serious tone ‘‘It was just a warning. Give up and leave Kusanagi’s body before you’ll get harmed. I won’t hesitate to use the full force of nature against you.’’. However, as the vampire reveals his bare fangs, the sound of a door slamming behind him gets his attention. It was followed by the angry voice of a certain redhead hunter ‘‘ What a hell is going, Kagura!? Where the hell that demonic energy came from?!-’’. Surely, upon seeing Kyo like this shocked Yagami at first, yet it was changed by the hunter’s furious gaze and taking the whip into his left hand. Now ‘Nagi greets the redhead in nearly singing voice ‘‘Oh, look, who decided to show up~ How about let’s play before I’ll feast on you, human?’’. It was followed by the dark brunette’s sharp nail slash. However, it seems that the ferocious creature missed his target, and nearly lost his balance. Despite that, Iori showed no mercy for this vampire and now punches the ‘Nagi into the guts. Surely, while the dark brunette was groaning in pain, Yagami unleashes the Vampire Killer. It was only a matter of seconds when the nocturnal creature was wrapped around the hunter’s whip. However, the more this ‘Nagi struggled to escape, the more deeply the burning pain spread inside his body. Despite that, the redhead just pulled his whip tighter while observed this creature resisting and shrieking. All of a sudden, Yagami got alerted by Chizuru’s voice ‘‘Yagami, catch this!’’. Fortunately, his reaction was faster, and he managed to catch something small inside his hand. After opening his palm, the redhead notices a small silver cross. Once again, Kagura addresses him ‘‘Hurry up! Press it against Kusanagi’s head.’’. Of course, he doubted this idea, but if that will help Kyo return to normal, he had no other choice. After kneeling, the redhead hunter placed the small cross against the brunette’s forehead. Now, this nocturnal creature lets out the last groan before he completely lost consciousness and stops struggling. Lastly, as Iori unwraps his trustworthy weapon from Kyo’s body, he noticed how the brunette was turning back to that same trouble-making vampire, which he knew. Meanwhile, the ebony-haired woman was getting closer, she speaks up ‘‘Help me to carry him inside the hut.’’. Just as the hunter throws the vampire over his one shoulder, he gives a serious look ‘‘You better have a good explanation for this.’’. However, of all possible times, Iori felt a sharp pain across his chest. Surely, it concerned Chizuru and when she stretched her arm towards the hunter, Yagami quickly responds ‘‘No. I’ll manage on my own. So, stay away.’’. After shakily standing up, Iori starts to carry the vampire and with Kagura leaves the hut. However, as soon as he regained consciousness, the sensation of unbearable pain spreads across his entire body. It felt like an invisible force was crushing and squeezing him without letting him move a single muscle. Hell, it was impossible to breathe due to someone choking him. Soon enough, the pain fades away, yet, the sensation of the flame serpent wrapping around his body strikes the nocturnal creature. While the brunette silently whines and groans, his face twisting in pain. Just what happened when he was forcibly put under sleep? Or so, the vampire feared without being unable to move. As soon as Kyo opens his eyes, he noticed that he was resting inside the familiar hut. More so, when the brunette turns his head, he can see restless Chizuru, and next to her, Iori staring at him with such a serious look on his face. It was followed by the witch’s question ‘‘You’re finally awake. Is it you, Kusanagi?’’. After the vampire leans on his elbows and sits up, he asks in an unsure tone ‘‘Oi, Kagura, Í hope that you find what you needed, ‘cos I can feel like someone beat me up and burned my body. Just what kind of spells did you use on me? And why are you staring at me like that? ’’. However, the sorceress keeps her serious face and closes her eyes. After opening her eyes, Kagura comments ‘‘It looks like you were asleep all this time while the dark creature was using your body.’’. Meanwhile, Iori crosses his arms and silently listens to how Chizuru addresses Kyo ‘‘I asked Yagami about what happened when you two were off. He told me about your behavior in the abandoned necromancer's cave and when you stayed in the inn. From what I heard, I can guess that another entity lives inside you since you were born, Kusanagi. Perhaps, you are the incarnation of this evil spirit, who couldn’t find a feeling of peace after its death. And thus, for some reason, it decided to use you to achieve what it wants. It’s also safe to assume that it becomes active and takes over your body when you are in danger. For example, this dark creature has mistaken me for the threat when you were unconscious or when you faced that giant bat. It also can take over your body when your instincts are strong. However, I cannot fully confirm this yet.’’. Once Chizuru finished explaining, the redhead steps in and speaks up in a serious tone ‘‘What are you suggesting to do? Is there is a way to kill that creature? Because there is no way that I would let that thing have Kyo even after I defeat him!’’. Yet, the ebony-haired woman briefly replied ‘‘Even when it possessed Kusanagi, you’ll kill them both. On the other hand, there is a way to suppress this entity. However, it comes with a big price. This is why I cannot do that without Kusanagi’s consent.’’. Of course, these words do not sound promising to the brunette, and all he could do is widen his eyes and swallows the saliva. Now, Kyo asks in a slightly nervous voice ‘‘What do you mean?’’. ‘‘If we successfully seal that dark entity, you won’t be able to use your awaken form and powers.’’ calmly replied Chizuru. However, the vampire smirks and backfires in a careless voice ‘‘I don’t get it how can I lose something that was already stolen from me. So, it’s been a while when I was getting my food without even using my hypnotizing voice. Hell, I don’t even need to use my awaken form to defend myself. That’s why I have nothing to lose.’’. Now, his smug smile was wiped out by Yagami’s comment ‘‘And you still managed to end up under my foot, you become an easy target for other hunters and nearly got poisoned to death, you stupid vampire…’’. Nevertheless, Kyo tried to remain chill and unaffected, despite that his fists were itching to kiss the hunter’s face and remind him about the local fauna of the spider forest in detail. ‘If it wasn’t where we are and with whom, I would put you in your place, Yagami’, or so, thinks the brunette. Now, he replies in a slightly irritated voice ‘‘Unless you count some hunters back-stabbing, then yeah. Otherwise, I can defeat anyone without a sweat! So, only the weak and cowards use such a dirty and unfair play.’’. Lastly, the nocturnal creature addresses Chizuru ‘‘Anyway, what I need to do this time?’’. After taking a deep breath, Kagura starts to explain ‘‘First of all, I need you to get me one of the rarest materials, which you can obtain in this world – the Crimson Stone. Perhaps, it is just a legend. However, for centuries, many alchemists devoted their lives to create this tiny stone, which holds great power and grants any wish and even immortality. Many have failed and lost their lives in the process. However, there were just a few, who have succeeded in creating Crimson Stone. These people to this day still wander in this world. There were also people, who rejected their humanity and entered into the demon realm. ’’. As the blond delightfully smiles, he points the sharp tip of the broadsword at his target. Lastly, he addresses the brunette in a calm, yet mocking tone ‘‘It’s been a while, little murderer…’’. The reflected platinum light on the long blond hair and his white long coat and pants, made him look like one of the Lord’s sent archangels. However, Kusanagi knew one thing. Behind that divine appearance, Kain was a more twisted creature than any devil. Meanwhile, all the brunette could do is to stare when the blade was so close to touching his throat. Now, he listens to the blond commenting in a proud voice ‘‘How many times I have to kill you before you’ll perish, vampire?’’. Even the noble creature of the night like the Kusanagi’s heir was paralyzed in fear by the hunter’s presence alone. After closing his red eyes and chuckling, Kain continues ‘‘It doesn’t matter now. As the sharp nails sprouted through the clothing, he warns Kain in a slightly shakily voice ‘‘I won’t let you get away so easily! Not after you made go through. Prepare yourself!’’. As his eyes glow in crimson red, the brunette dashes at his foe. However, the hunter dodges the attack by jumping backward and sending the blue pillar of the flame. That should be enough to perish this creature to the hell, or so, thought the blond. Fortunately, the vampire slashes through the fire. After landing on feet and one hand, the nocturnal creature ferociously stares at Kain, who looked down on his foe. Without any second thought, the Kusanagi’s heir ignites his palm and uses upwards spin-slash. The warm light reflects on the hunter’s face as he blocks the strike with his sword. While Kyo was in the whirl of flame, he prepares for the finishing move. In the end, he dives at his opponent with the slashing strike. After the flame submerges into the air, the brunette landed on his feet. However, something was off. There was no sign of Kain. All of a sudden, the brunette was alerted to hear his enemy’s calm yet menacing whisper from behind ‘‘You’re too slow.’’. When and how did he?-’ or so, wandered the vampire. Now, the broadsword penetrates his back and sprouts through his chest. Meanwhile, when the dark crimson liquid was dripping from the hunter’s blade, Kain looks down on his victim, who leaves blood traces on the grass. When Kain drops his blade, it disappears into the thin air. Now, he started to approach the brunette. Fortunately, Yagami’s reflexes were faster. He dodged the heavy strike by rolling to the side. It was followed by quickly picking up a few knives into his right hand while he was crouched. Now, he observes how Kain carelessly turns to face his opponent. In the meantime, Yagami wraps his trustworthy weapon into a spiral and points it at the swordsman. Now, the blond gave the mocking look for the fellow vampire hunter, who points the whip at him while threatening ‘‘It’s all over. Give up now and you’ll get a quick and painless death, Kain!’’. However, his foe only chuckles as he shrugs his shoulders. It was followed by the redhead grinding his teeth and asking in a furious voice ‘‘What a hell is so funny? Are you that eager to die!?’’. It was followed by the blond announcing from the top of his lungs ‘‘CRIMSON STONE, GRANT ME MORE POWER!!!’’. All of a sudden, the red stone starts to flow in the air and brightly glow. The entire battlefield was covered in blinding crimson light. However, as soon it appeared, the light disappeared. Now, Kain was levitating in the air while the blue flame dances on each of his hands. Meanwhile, the blond was observing the vampire hunter from above; the countless swords were spinning behind his back. Lastly, the hunter in white proudly speaks up ‘‘How is it?... But do not be afraid. You won’t even feel how you’ll get crushed!’’. It was followed by Kain pointing his palm at the redhead. And thus, he sents the swarm of blades towards Iori. There was no way that his whip could counter-attack such an amount of swords! That’s why Yagami instantly dodges the rain of swords by rolling on the side. However, the hunter was too stubborn to give up even if he roughly breathes and could barely stand on his feet. Surely, the fearsome vampire hunter’s struggle entertained Kain, who delightfully observed him. Finally, one strike and will kill this pathetic human. After the blond closes his eyes and takes a deep breath, he stretches his open left palm towards the hunter. It was followed by the heavy broadsword appearing in his hand. It was a man with short silver hair, who wore an open black leather jacket and white t-shirt, lastly, and jet-black pants. Nanakase also had a black leather collar with a small silver heart on it. Now, Yashiro bends down and stretches his hands towards Iori, he simply answers with a smile on his face ‘‘We were minding our business until we heard the loud bang and I knew that we have to head in that direction. ‘What if Yagami-chan is once causing the problems or got into the fight against stronger types?’ this is what I thought and we canceled our hunt tonight.’’. Even after the heavily wounded blond was brought to the Hunter Guild during that night, the guild master showed no mercy for their ex-member. That’s right, even being judged for his crimes against the guild members and supernatural beings, improper practice after capturing them, being involved in the black market, etc., Kain remained proud and unaffected. And thus, once known legendary vampire hunter will never swing his blade again. Meanwhile, the guild infirmary had to deal with, probably, one of the toughest challenges they ever encountered. No, it is not treating a large number of people after a battle against a fearsome demonic creature. In this case, the poor medics barely could do anything to heal one certain redhead once he regained consciousness. That’s right, none of the nurses could think that only after a couple of days Iori will be so lively despite the fatal injuries. Or at least, this is how they called his resisting and agitated behavior. Hell, according to one of the nurses, only five minutes of turning her head away was enough to let Yagami escape the room. Although, during the first days, the redhead’s not-so-great escape ended up falling from the bed and trying to crawl as far as he could until he was noticed and put back into the bed. However, as the week passed, it got worse. Fortunately, one day, Yashiro decides to pay a visit and see how his disciple is doing. And thus, Iori is spotted on time before he climbs through the window. Of course, the redhead is not so glad that not only his attempt to leave this place ends with failure, but also how that fool throws him over his shoulder and carries him like a sack of potatoes. After the silver-haired hunter learns about Yagami’s reckless behavior, he decides to take drastic measures. Despite that, the redhead could die from embarrassment by being carried through the entire guild while only wearing pajamas. The last time when Iori was treated like this was when Yashiro brought him into the Hunter Guild when he was a child. But even now, he does not dare to object and attract more unwanted attention. Fortunately, such a trip does not last long. After reaching and entering Yagami’s room, Nanakase sits Iori at the bedside, and starts to lecture him ‘‘Why do you have to be like this, Yagami-chan? You know that you're only hurting yourself, and you’ll never heal if you do this.’’. Yet, the redhead hunter keeps his head hung without saying a word. Despite that, Yashiro continues in a caring tone ‘‘No matter what kind of reason you may have, but it can wait. So, I cannot let you leave your room until you’re fully recovered. Then, you can do what you want, even deal with that vampire.’’. Suddenly, just after the last mentioning, the redhead lifts his head. Now, he gives the indignant look at his mentor while tightly grasping the bedsheet. It appears that Yagami’s intimidating look and growling made Nanakase laugh. As Yashiro ruffles Iori’s hair, he replies ‘‘Did I hit the right spot, Yagami-chan?~ You’re way too easy to read.’’. Although, Iori had enough, and he roughly brushes Yashiro’s hand away. It follows by the silver-head’s snort and him adding ‘‘Well, whatever~ Anyway, should I grab you something before I leave?’’. Of course, the veteran hunter is so sure that this time Yagami remains silent. To his surprise, the redhead asks in a modest voice ‘‘Do you know where is the witch’s shop? There is something that I need to send there.’’. After seeing the silver-head’s smug face, Iori frowns and backfires ‘‘I just got in deep debt! This time I need to bring blood bags to that woman. I’ll pay you back. Just deliver as much as you can get it to Chizuru Kagura.’’. Lastly, the redhead impatiently awaits the answer. For sure, it is one of those rare cases when Yagami is serious about something. Otherwise, he would already lose his patience. Perhaps, the redhead would also use more than foul language against Yashiro like any other time. Knowing Iori, this is the most polite as he could ever get. That’s why the silver-haired hunter listens to his disciple’s request. Besides, he is curious to see what Yagami is up to this time. ‘‘Rest assured. I’ll find that person. But promise me that you won’t try to escape. Got it?’’ - Nanakase replies. Instead of saying anything else, the redhead only turns his head while murmuring ‘‘Just leave already, you fool…’’. Once again, Yashiro took this as Iori’s best attempt at thanking. Lastly, the veteran hunter turns around and raises his hand before taking his leave. Finally, the redhead is alone. For now, he decides to wait for a bit longer. Then, Iori may try to sneak out without getting caught by that idiot. Yet, getting a nap won't do any harm, will it? Perhaps, it would also help to restore a bit of strength. And thus, without notice, an hour passes. After getting up and picking better clothes, Iori decides to leave. However, something is off… The door is stuck like it was locked. The redhead is too stubborn and begins to look for the key. Unfortunately, even after searching every little corner, he cannot find it. ‘‘Shit… That fool Yashiro really locked me and took the key away…’’ — Or so, the redhead realizes, while all he could do is facepalm and pray that idiot won’t get lost and deliver the food for one certain vampire. Speaking about the devil, hopefully, that stupid vampire didn’t manage to get into more problems, nor attack anyone to satisfy his hunger. Or so, wanders Iori, who wants to see Kyo so badly and make sure that he did not become anyone else target. Couple more days pass. Meanwhile, in one familiar hut. It is already late evening. Finally, the sun hides beyond the horizon and allows the moon to take the lead and rule the night’s sky. However, even during such a serene and chill evening, one brunette prefers to lay in the bed and do nothing. Yet, he knows that if he will not get up, then Chizuru would make sure that all his laziness would instantly disappear. Besides, working in the shop helped Kyo to distract his mind. Unfortunately, he cannot say the same about his certain needs. Although Chizuru recently brought him several blood bags, Kyo is still hungry. Even if those are sent by the hunter, who claims to be a good friend of Yagami, it's not enough. Unfortunately, after tasting one of them, the vampire nearly threw up. So, until now, the brunette shrugs just by looking towards the freezer’s side. He also tried his luck by asking Kagura to give him some blood. Unfortunately, it ends up with her placing her hand on Kyo’s shoulder and lighting up a couple of fingers until a white glowing orb shows up. For heaven’s sake, all he did - be honest and say that he would be fine even drinking half-decent blood like this. So, the Kusanagi’s heir learned an important lesson not to use words, which can insult humans. More importantly, he would be careful around the witch. However, if Yagami is not around, the brunette cannot ask him for a better bite. Yet, even if he could reach that hunter, the nocturnal creature realizes that he cannot ask for blood from an injured person. Even imagining Iori covered in a medical bandage upsets the vampire, who wishes for him to recover and to hear that ‘stupid vampire’ again. After that fight, Kyo wants to see the redhead hunter make sure that Iori is alive. Of course, he could straightforwardly go to the Hunter Guild, if weren't for a couple of issues. Firstly, the brunette has no idea about the whereabouts where it could be. Secondly, what if he finds the wrong guild? That would be just a waste of his time, and the hunter will recover. ‘Perhaps, Kagura knows where to find Yagami…’ — the nocturnal creature wonders as he gets up and leaves the hut. After reaching the shop, Kyo knocks on the door and enters. ‘‘Oh, you are early today, Kusanagi. Did rest well?’’ — Chizuru warmly greets him behind the counter. When she notices the vampire’s stiff shoulders and concerned look, the ebony-haired sorceress asks ‘‘Is everything alright?’’. As Kyo gets closer, he asks in an unsure tone “Um, do still have that long red coat?”. Kagura only calmly replies “No one bought yet. Why do you ask?”. For sure, seeing how Kusanagi tries to remain chill, amuses the ebony-haired woman. While Kyo rests his hand on the counter, he asks in a polite tone “Can I borrow it for a while? I promise, I'll return it once I'm done with some business.”. “Are you going to look for Yagami? Even if you wear his clothes, the other hunters will easily sense your presence. More so, do you even know where is the Hunter Guild?” — Chizuru explains in a genuine tone. For sure, the brunette is surprised by how the witch knew about his plan. Yet, he demands “And this is where I need your help. Perhaps, you know where I can find it.”. The sorceress only closes her eyes and sighs. After she opens her eyes, she gives an annoyed look while replying “I'm sorry, Kusanagi. However, I cannot do that and let you recklessly risk your life.”. Unfortunately, such a reply does not satisfy the brunette. If Chizuru does not tell him where is the guild, he has to find another way. But he decides that it is pointless to negotiate with her. So, for tonight, Kyo is just helping out in the shop as usual. A few days pass by. It is another late evening when the nocturnal creature would need to repeat the daily routine. However, as Kyo gets up, he suddenly feels dizzy, and he instantly falls on his knees and hugs himself tightly. All he could do - only widen his eyes and deeply breathe. More so, that sharp noise inside his head is driving him crazy. Hell, the Kusanagi’s heir even begins to let out pitiful shrieking noises. As he falls on the ground and curls into a ball, the vampire notices how the white mist slowly surrounds him. Lastly, the fog swallows him, and the cry of the squeaking animal rings through the entire hut. Suddenly, Chizuru storms in ‘‘What in the world is happening here?!’’. Yet, she is left without answers. Finally, the mist fades away. Yet, something tiny crashes into her while letting out agitated squeaking noises. Fortunately, the witch shields her face from the mysterious creature. After the ebony-haired woman opens her eyes, she notices a small fruit bat lying on the ground. However, as she kneels to pick the little fellow, the fruit bat shakes its head and immediately flies away through the open door. ‘Where did that bat come from?’ — the sorceress wonders. Yet, upon noticing a pile of familiar-looking clothes, Chizuru exhales ‘‘Will he be fine?… At least he could clean up after himself.’’. Meanwhile, in the Hunter Guild, one certain redhead is about to rest. Besides, there is nothing better to do. So, without overthinking, Iori walks to close the window. However, something tiny flies closely to him. For sure, that little fellow even nearly startled the fearsome hunter with its screeching and squeaking. Despite feeling annoyed by such a creature causing chaos, Yagami walks to the nearest light switch and turns it on. After looking around, he spots a tiny fruit bat hanging on the curtain. This fellow has a dark orange fur collar and white stripes on its wings, which are on his fingers. For sure, for a fruit bat, it has a big attitude. This little bat fearlessly stares at Iori like expecting something from him. Even when the redhead tries to scare it away, the bat masterly avoids the hand by crawling to the sides while squeaking at him. Lastly, the little bat had enough, and now, it charges towards the hunter. As the bat lands on Iori’s shirt, it starts to climb to his chest. Even if Yagami carefully grasps the fruit bat and does his best to remove it, yet, the little fellow holds tightly with its sharp nails. ‘‘Why do you have to be so stubborn, you stupid bat? Let me go!’’ — The redhead hunter complains as he tries to remove the bat. Just the moment when he finally succeeds, the poor creature starts to loudly and desperately squeak. As Iori looks at the struggling little bat, he somehow starts to feel bad. He could even swear that this bat was like begging not to be separated and how it is scared. Finally, Yagami carefully folds its wings and places it against his chest, and who knew, it works! Now, he carefully strokes the little animal’s head. The fruit bat begins to calm down, and its squeaking noises become sweet and quiet. Of course, the redhead doesn’t know how to handle a wave of new emotions. He only facepalms and sighs ‘‘You stupid little bat… What am I supposed to do with you?’’. Eventually, the bat falls asleep while being comforted. But for now, Iori checks for a spare dry towel in the bathroom. Then, he places the fruit bat on another pillow. Lastly, he wraps this little fellow in the warm towel. For tonight, he decides that this small trouble-maker could stay. But tomorrow, he would let it outside. Why, when Yagami observes the fruit bat, does he feel upset? He cannot understand it. Perhaps, he is just exhausted. Yet, the redhead could sense something is extraordinary about this little bat, even if he could not explain it. Another day rises. After the vampire hunter wakes up, he checks how his guest is doing. Unfortunately, there is no sign of the tiny rascal. Where, in the world, it could be? Or so, wonders the redhead as he gets up. After Iori checks every corner in his room, he cannot find that fruit bat. So, instead of continuing his search, Yagami decides to go to the bathroom and prepare for a new day. Perhaps, then, it would be easier to look for this trouble-maker. Some time passes by. As the hunter enters the bathroom and undresses, he pulls the shower curtain. Suddenly, a bat nearly falls into the bathtub. Fortunately, the little fellow manages to grab the curtain by its feet. Yet, Yagami dislikes how the fruit bat stares at him with its big, beady eyes. ‘‘What are you doing here? Get out! Or do you want to drown, you stupid bat?’’ — Or so, the redhead addresses the tiny impostor while wrapping a towel around his waist. Although, the bat continues to silently stare at Iori, who looks for a specific item. After he got a small towel, he carefully wraps the fruit bat into it. Unfortunately, this time, the little fellow lets out agitated squeaking noises. More importantly, the bat tries its best to stay inside the towel as Iori brings it to his room. He cannot understand what is wrong with this bat. Yet, Yagami decides to test one idea. After he closes the curtains in his room and makes sure that it is dark, Iori addresses this small fellow ‘‘Happy now? Then, you can come out.’’. Eventually, the fruit bat sticks its head from the towel and looks around. After a while, the little trouble-maker comes out and flies towards the redhead’s bed. As it lands on the pillow, Yagami addresses the bat ‘‘Make sure that you won’t leave any mess until I’ll back, got it?’’. With these words, the redhead returns to the bathroom. After a while, the hunter finishes with the shower, and without any need to rush, puts on a bathrobe. However, the sudden noise like something heavy lands on his bed alerts him. Once he gets to his room and turns the lights on, Yagami gets shocked. How did Kyo get into his room? More importantly, why the hell he does not wear any clothes at all? It must be a dream! There is no way it can’t be real… Or so, Iori questions himself while observing the unconscious Kusanagi’s heir lying on the stomach. After he slaps his cheeks and shakes his head, Yagami is convinced that he isn’t imagining things and that Kyo is here. The redhead only facepalms while hiding his embarrassed face ‘‘You stupid perverted vampire…’’. Yet, the vampire hunter walks to the bedside and pulls out the blanket under the brunette. As he covers Kyo, Iori gets startled by the knock on the door and by a familiar voice from the corridor ‘‘Are you awake, Yagami-chan? There is something that I need to tell you.’’. Yet, as the redhead frowns, he replies in indignant voice ‘‘No. I just woke up, so, go away!’’ ‘‘Aw, someone gets up on the wrong foot~ Listen, I need to give you something, and I won’t bother you, alright?’’ — backfires the voice of a certain veteran hunter. Yagami knows that his mentor won’t leave him so easily. And thus, after fully covering the brunette under the blanket and throwing pillows, the redhead walks towards the door. After Iori opens the door, he greets his mentor with his arms crossed and an irritated look on his face ‘‘What is it?’’. Despite the given look, Yashiro replies ‘‘Yo! How are you doing? Listen, since you already look like recovered, I can return these to you.’’. The redhead lifts his one eyebrow as Nanakase handles him a set of keys while adding ‘‘Just make sure stay out from the troubles. I might be not around this time. So, be careful, or you might end up worse than last time.’’. Although, Iori backfires with keeping his poker face ‘‘Is it all? Then, you can go.’’. Just as he is about to close the door, Yashiro places his foot between the gap ‘‘So cold, Yagami-chan~’’. Right now, the silver-head’s attention is caught by the huge bulge on the redhead’s bed. Then, he asks in a teasing tone ‘‘Am I disturbed anything? You are sure that you are not hiding anything from me or the guild?’’. ‘That persistent fool… Just go away already and mind your goddamn business! ’ – Or so, thinks Iori as his one eye twitches ‘‘No! Just stop staring and let me dress up.’’. Yashiro only laughs at such a response and replies ‘‘I got it, I got it. So, don’t be mad, Yagami-chan~ I’ll leave and won’t disturb your privacy.’’. After he closes the door, the silver-haired hunter says to himself while he is on the way ‘‘Don’t you think that you can fool me by hiding a low-rank vampire, Yagami-chan. Not sure how you have done it or what you plan, but try to stay safe.’’. Meanwhile, Iori just sits on the bedside while thinking how it was close enough to get caught by keeping a vampire in a place full of hunters. But for now, he can catch a breath, and relax. After he reveals the sleeping brunette’s face, Yagami sighs. So, Kyo got a new ability, huh? What else that stupid vampire is capable of? Nevertheless, the brunette is by his side, and it's more than enough for Iori. For now, the redhead hunter decides to wait until Kyo wakes up, and then, he’ll figure out what to do next. Part 2 Some time has passed. It was late evening, and one certain redhead was already tired. Unfortunately, his bed is still occupied by slumbering Kyo, and, who knows, how long he will take – a day, week, months, perhaps, even more? Of course, Iori could grab a pillow and a blanket from the closet. However, waking up again with an aching body does not sound that good. More so, what if that stupid vampire would accidentally step on him? So, he decides to wait as long as needed. Meanwhile, Yagami searches for suitable clothes for his unexpected guest. After finding a more or less fitting outfit, the redhead places the neatly folded clothes at the corner of the bed. Hopefully, that stupid vampire won’t kick them out during his sleep. Or so, Iori expects as he brings the chair near the bed. After sitting down with his arms and legs crossed, he observes Kyo. Eventually, the redhead could feel how his eyelids get heavier. Yet, when he closes his eyes for a second, that short moment becomes into five, ten minutes, or even more than a half-hour. Despite such a struggle to stay awake, Iori keeps resisting the urge to wake up the brunette. After all, maybe it would be for the better to let this nocturnal creature to let him restore the energy. Besides, even as an experienced vampire hunter, Yagami has never waken up the resting vampire before. More so, by knowing that dark creature lives inside Kyo, Iori does not wish to summon it and alert the entire Hunter Guild. For sure, that is the very least thing which he needs to deal with now. Although, no matter how much Iori despises ‘Nagi, he wonders what if this vile creature never existed. Would he have been able to meet Kyo and treat him the same way as now? If ‘Nagi never appeared, the brunette would be dead by the hand of Kain and slowly rot under the water. Therefore, he would not get such an enormous bounty on his head as well. Although, what is Kyo to Iori, anyway? For sure, if the vampire was Yagami’s mere target and he never knew about the bounty on his head, Iori would have killed him during their first meeting and moved on. So, was it only the suspiciously generous reward for eliminating the vampire that made Iori stop and have mercy on Kyo? As the redhead closes his eyes and shakes his head, he realizes it might not be the case. The vampire hunter has never striven to become wealthy or famous and live a carefree life. If he did, he would not be questioning why sometimes, the Hunter Guild offers a considerable bounty for an easy catch and would take the money for granted. Perhaps, believing that if the monster has a huge bounty, then it must be powerful enough to stand a chance to challenge the redhead. On the other hand, during their first encounter, Iori was superior to Kyo, who was as strong as a low-rank monster. So, the vampire couldn't even give a satisfying fight, nor looked like an intimidating foe. However, even if the brunette got heavily injured and was aware that he'll get finished by the strike of Vampire Killer, he kept that determined look and firing gaze. It was the first time someone made the redhead hunter feel such a sparkling excitement. For sure, sparing the nocturnal creature’s life was not a mistake. Even during the training sessions with the brunette were more than satisfying. Like never before in life, Yagami felt so alive. Iori knows – someday, he does not need to hold back and give his all like Kyo does when they clash each time. Maybe that feline-like vitality and behavior made the brunette so desirable as well. For this reason, the redhead hunter swore he will not allow anyone else to harm or have Kyo. Overall, even if ‘Nagi never existed, Iori knows deep inside that the encounter with the Kusanagi’s heir would be unavoidable and destined to happen. But for now, the sudden chattering noises return the redhead to reality. Even the vampire’s fangs show up when he lets out these noises during his sleep. Yagami only rolls his eyes ‘‘Not again. Why do you have to act like this?’’. Unfortunately, there is no reply from the Kusanagi, who remains silent. Eventually, the nocturnal creature’s fangs disappear. One thing would be if the brunette is a nekomata, at least, then the redhead could understand why Kyo made these noises. However, he is not. ‘‘Are still hungry even after I sent you these blood bags… How much do you need to eat? You stupid vampire…’’ — Iori adds in a calm yet scolding tone. After Yagami sighs, he continues watching over the vampire until he falls asleep. A couple more hours have passed. Finally, Kyo starts waking up with a silent groan. After sitting up, he lazily looks around with his still sleepy eyes and notices peacefully resting Iori on the chair. ‘‘Yagami?’’ — The brunette addresses the hunter in a sleepy voice. Yet, he gets no response from the redhead. ‘‘Why are you like this? At least cover yourself. You’ll catch a cold just by wearing that…’’ — Or so, Kyo comments on Iori’s worn long white shirt and red pants. However, when the vampire feels the chill against his skin, he checks on himself. All his sleepiness is gone upon seeing himself like this. ‘‘The heck?’’ — The brunette cracks a nervous smile. After swallowing the saliva, Kyo looks under the blanket. ‘‘Just what the heck happened when I was unconscious? ’’ – He tells himself while covering his mouth with the palm. As the nocturnal creature covers himself with the blanket, he turns his head towards the redhead ‘‘Oi, Yagami! Wake up!’’. For sure, Iori wasn’t too glad that his blissful sleep was disturbed. As the redhead stretches out, he complains in a sleepy voice, ‘‘You do not have to be so loud, you stupid vampire. Do you know what time it is now? You’ll awake the entire guild.’’. Yet, Kyo just dumbfounded stares at Yagami ‘‘Huh?’’. The brunette continues in a slightly indignant tone ‘‘It’s not important right now. What am I doing here?’’. ‘‘So, can you recall anything after you turned into a bat?’’ — The hunters ask. Meanwhile, Kyo lowers his gaze, and after a momentary pause, he explains, ‘‘I’m not sure how it happened. Even in the past, I never transformed into a bat or anything else. Like hell, I could control this. I was just about to run the errands. But, suddenly, I felt dizzy and had a strong headache. Of course, I was shocked how everything around became so big! Hell, when I looked around myself, I noticed that instead of arms, I had leather wings and no matter what I wanted to say, it would be just squeaking noises. However, I was scared that Kagura might try to kill me like a pest! So, after struggling for a bit, I flew away.’’. For sure, Iori was in disbelief. Yet, as soon as the vampire finishes telling his story, Yagami comments, ‘‘I still don’t understand. How did you find me?’’. ‘‘I’m not sure either. However, in that form, my sense of smell was so strong. So, after sensing a familiar scent, I knew that it could be only yours. When I followed the traces of it, I ended up here. Besides, I wanted to see you.’’ — The brunette honestly replies. The last part of the vampire's story catches the redhead hunter’s guard off. For now, he tries to look cool while keeping his arms crossed ‘‘You could just wait until I return. I even asked for that fool Yashiro to send you food so that you do not need to starve while I was gone.’’. ‘‘But that blood was too old, and it had started to clot. So, it was something similar to when humans drink spoiled milk. You can say that the last time I had a meal was before you left.’’ — Kyo complains in a slightly gloomy tone. Iori only facepalms at such reply ‘‘So, you came all the way here just to get blood from me, you stupid vampire?’’. Kyo gets dumbfounded for a moment. Soon enough, he speaks up in a thoughtful tone ‘‘You got it wrong, Yagami. I could never even dare ask you for it when you are still injured. All I wanted - is to see if you are doing well and how long left until you recover. Then I would leave you because you still don’t want to see me. After all, you got injured and nearly got killed just because of me. It’s my fault that you ended up like this!’’. For sure, seeing how the guilt drags the vampire down makes the redhead feel bad for him. When Iori deeply exhales, he begins to scold the brunette ‘‘Tsk, do I look like someone who asks for pity? The only fight you should care about is when you will be facing me as equal, Kyo. Until that day arrives, I’ll wait as much as needed. However, you should also prepare yourself and become even stronger than before, losing your so-called vampire form. It is the only thing which I ask you.’’. The little flame sparkles in the brunette's eyes when he hears the honest hunter’s answer. As Kyo smirks, he backfires in a nearly teasing voice ‘‘You seem obsessed with me, Yagami. At this point, I won't be surprised if you would allow me to drink all your blood to satisfy yourself with something that may never happen. I wonder if you have ever been so passionate about anything else like this. Yet, be careful about what you ask. ‘Cos I don’t want you to whine or complain when you’ll be under my foot, Yagami. So, instead of doing nothing, how about you start to practice your lines? You know, I wouldn’t mind if you start from earlier to use phrases like ‘Yes, my lord’, ‘As you wish, my lord’ or simply referring me as ‘Kyo-sama’ would be fine too.’’. ‘The oh-so-feared vampire lord is too full of himself and just begs for the touch of the Vampire Killer.’ — Or so, thinks the redhead as he stares at the Kusanagi with such an annoyed look on this face. So, he decides to let the nocturnal creature taste his own medicine. ‘‘How about our naked king Kyo-sama shows a class and bless us, mortals, by starting doing such simple things like putting something on? Let me leave you a hint. I left some clothes for you at the end of the bed.’’ — Iori backfires. Kyo instantly realizes that all this time when he was speaking to Yagami, only being covered by the blanket. For sure, his face and ears were burning from the embarrassment. Lastly, Kyo indignantly addresses Iori ‘‘You didn't explain how I up like this, you idiot! Just, what have you done to me while I was unconscious?!’’. ‘‘I should be the one asking why after you turned back, you landed on my bed like this, you stupid perverted vampire… Just put the clothes on already.’’ — Or so, the redhead replies. As Iori stands up and walks towards the bathroom, the vampire’s voice stops him ‘‘Where are you going now? Where are you going now?’’. ‘‘I’ll be back soon. Ah, and make sure that I’ll have a place to sleep. Like I’ll let you occupy my room, you stupid vampire.’’ — Iori says before shutting himself inside the bathroom. Meanwhile, the nocturnal creature checks for what the redhead left for him. It's not too much, yet, it was better than nothing. ‘Hopefully, I won’t sink inside these…’ — or so, tells to himself Kyo as he studies the left white t-shirt, a pair of underwear, and gray pajama pants before starting to put them on. After a while, Yagami finally returns. However, as he walks close to the bedside, he addresses the brunette ‘‘Move. I need space.’’. At first, Kyo just gives a puzzled look, yet, he listens to this demand. After Iori gets into the bed, he turns away from the brunette. While Yagami covers under the blanket, he adds in a faster tone, ‘‘I’m not gonna make a move on you or anything. And since you know this now – don’t get any weird thoughts. Good night!’’. Lastly, he turns off the light and closes his eyes. For sure, the Kusanagi gets even more confused. Yet, he only whispers, ‘‘The heck, are you talking? Or did you also hit your head?’’. The vampire begins to wonder what might cause such unusual Iori’s behavior. On the other hand, Kyo feels relieved that Yagami is fine and now, it was good enough for him. In the end, he is the only one who is awake. Yet, he can finally have a chance to observe one of the rarest sighs – peacefully resting Iori. Or at least when during his sleep, he turns towards Kyo. It is a late afternoon. Yet to someone, it is just the beginning of the day. Gladly, the cup of freshly made coffee begins to work on Iori. More so, it’s one of the things which keeps him returning to the Hunter Guild, aside from receiving rewards for the captured monsters. So, for now, without any need to rush, the redhead enjoys the coffee while sitting at the bedside. Meanwhile, one certain vampire feels bored because Iori ignores him. Yet, he refuses to disturb the redhead’s peaceful moment and waits until he finishes his cup. Therefore, Kyo searches for something to occupy himself. Besides, since Yagami allowed him to check the bookshelf, the brunette uses this chance. For sure, most of the Iori’s library contained various monster encyclopedias and some other books. Yet, one thinner tome with golden corners catches the vampire’s attention. So, with no second thought, Kyo picks this book. The brunette’s eyes sparkle with an innocent excitement and curiosity upon realizing what kind of book he picked. It’s a photo album. As he flips through the pages, he notices various photos of Iori and his most important moments in the Hunter Guild. From the day when he joined the guild when he was just a teen. While in another photo, he looks annoyed when cheerful Yashiro is in the same shot. Then, there was a shot of the young redhead with his first caught monster. Along with many other pics from the life in the guild, there were photos of early training days when Iori attempts to crack a whip. As Kyo processes further, he notices the pictures taken, presumably when Yagami’s parents got married and, of course, the photos of him. For sure, it’s still unbelievable that even someone like Iori was once a child. The longer Kyo studied these pictures, the more he got these warm feelings. The vampire is excited to observe the Iori’s life path through these photos. But, when the brunette’s curiosity gets caught by one photo, he cannot figure out who was one person. “Hey, Yagami! You never tell me that you have other siblings. Who is this cute little girl?” — The Kusanagi addresses the hunter. Iori only lifts his one eye-brow. While the redhead finishes his coffee, he replies, “What are you talking about? I was a single child in the family.” Yet, Yagami hears the vampire objecting, “Then, who is this small child?”. As the hunter puts the cup on the night-drawer, he patiently asks, “Come here. Let's see what you got here.”. After Kyo closes the album, he walks toward the bedside. When he sits next to Iori, he skips through pages. As the brunette spots the right photo, he points at it “This one.”. Suddenly, the redhead's eyes widen, and his cheeks dye in a reddish color. As he covers his face, Iori remains speechless. Just after a short pause, the redhead replies in an embarrassed voice while facepalming, “You stupid vampire…”. For sure, such a hunter's reaction surprises Kyo, who just dumbfounded stares. Suddenly, he realizes who was that little laughing girl in the photo. Yet, all he could do - was silently stare at the hunter. After the redhead lifts his head, he speaks up, “This is me, you fool. Happy now?”. Yet, the vampire defends himself while rubbing the back of his neck, “Well, you cannot really blame me that it's hard to tell the difference of who is who when you are a baby. Besides, you looked so happy in these pics.”. After Kyo puts aside the photo album, he adds with a determined look on his face, “It's nothing that I ask for you to force yourself to smile more often. However, it would be nice if you would show me how you feel. I am not sure how it would be possible to make you do this now. But don't think that I'll give up until I see it!”. In the end, Yagami turns his head to hide his cracked poker face and grabs the empty cup. When he stands up and is about to leave, he hears Kyo's voice, “Oi, did I say anything wrong?” “I just need to take this out, and I'll return. So, you better not to open the door to anyone or attract any of unwanted attention, got it?” — Or so, Iori replies as he turns his head to face the vampire. Lastly, the brunette is left alone with his thoughts. Perhaps, seeing the hunter so flustered was like an unexpected discovery. Of course, Kyo could also have teased Iori. Yet, he might just end up being covered in coffee grounds instead and without seeing another side of Yagami. But for now, Kyo feels the temptation to take one of the redhead's photos and keep them as a lucky charm. Instead, he decides not to, and he closes the album and puts it back to the one from the bookshelves. Firstly, Iori may scold him. Secondly, the brunette decides to wait until the right moment comes so that he could have that first-handed experience like noticing all sides of Yagami. And so, the rest of the evening was pretty calm. It is nearly midnight. The brunette leaves the shower feeling refreshed and notices the resting Iori. When Kyo is about to look up for the spare blanket and pillow, the sudden pain spreads across his body. Hell, even his eyes glow in crimson red, and his fangs appear. ‘Why of all times it has to happen now?’ — Or so, the brunette thinks while he holds his one arm. Once again, his instincts act up. Yet, it was a while since he had any food at all. Eventually, the vampire begins to let out quite pitiful growling noises. ‘Damn, could it wait until Yagami wakes up? Shit…’ — Kyo murmurs as he shakily approaches the redhead. The vampire is aware that he gets scolded by Iori, yet, he wants to avoid feeding on the hunter while he is in a deep sleep nor without his consent. As Kyo sits on the bedside, he gently shakes Yagami’s shoulder, ‘‘Oi Yagami. Wake up.’’. Lastly, he prepares himself for the worst-case scenario. For sure, the redhead is not happy that his dream got interrupted. He only rolls to another side and completely hides under the blanket. Unfortunately, the redhead feels how the vampire places his hand and gently pushes him again. Finally, Kyo gets the hunter’s attention. ‘‘What do you want?’’ — Iori murmurs in a sleepy voice. After he leaves the cocoon made of the blanket, the redhead hunter turns to face the pestering fellow who does not give him the rest. For sure, seeing nothing but the glowing crimson eyes in the dark alerted Yagami at first. Yet, once he leans to turn the night-lamp on, he realizes who disturbs his rest. It is the brunette who stares at him with such a guilty yet demanding gaze while his sharp fangs show up. As Iori sits up, he facepalms ‘‘What’s wrong with you?’’. The nocturnal creature just silently replies ‘‘I need it.’’ Yet, the redhead lifts his one eye-brow. Soon enough, the vampire adds ‘‘I need your blood so badly.’’. ‘‘Haven't you had any blood bags when you were at the Kagura’s shop?’’ — Iori scolds him. Yet, Kyo defends himself ‘‘These couple ones in the freezer were barely enough to heal my wounds. And I threw away the rest of these blood bags, which Kagura received from that hunter because I thought they were also spoiled. More so, the transformation into a bat drained a lot of my energy. I avoided asking you because it’s still the wrong thing. So, I decided not to do it and wait until you return. I endured it as long as I could. However, my body demands any nutrition so badly that I cannot wait any longer, even until tomorrow. I cannot just feed on you while you’re asleep. So, even a couple of drops from your wrist should be more than enough until the next day.’’. Lastly, he takes the hunter’s wrist into his hands and gives him an asking gaze. Yagami only sighs and brushes his hair from his face. Then, he addresses the vampire in a determined voice ‘‘What if I have died just a couple of days after I was carried to the guild? Would you still wait and starve yourself to death? You should tell me earlier, Kyo.’’. After hearing these words, the brunette lowers his gaze. Suddenly, Iori brushes Kyo’s hands away. All he could hear was the hunter’s strict voice ‘‘You cannot have it from this spot.’’. For sure, the Kusanagi has never felt so betrayed in his life-spam. Even his eye color returns to the former one, and that lively sparkle is gone. Yet, no matter how he may be upset, he cannot bring himself to blame the redhead hunter for this. It is his decision, and it’s only up to him what he wants to do with his body. ‘‘Come here. I think that you are finally ready to drink from this spot.’’ — Suddenly, Iori addresses Kyo in a calm voice. The brunette dumbfounded stares at Yagami. Yet, there is no way that the vampire could disobey such a request. As the vampire gives him a bewildered look, he takes the hunter’s elbow into his hands and replies in an unsure voice, ‘‘But would it be comfortable for you, Yagami?’’. Yet, Iori objects in a calm voice ‘‘The wrong spot again, you stupid vampire. Do I need to point it out for you?’’. After realizing what kind of spot the hunter meant, the vampire widens his eyes and swallows the saliva. Yet, he asks in a slightly nervous voice ‘‘Are you sure that it’s alright?’’. ‘‘Why won’t you check by yourself?’’ — The vampire hunter suggests while he comfortably leans against the wall. Without any second thought, the brunette accepts Yagami’s invitation. As he crawls close to Iori, he could sense that the redhead is slightly nervous. So, after sitting on his knees, Kyo gives a shy look ‘‘Are you not afraid that I might not be able to hold back? You know, it would be difficult for you to stop me when I’ll drink from there.’’. After Iori turns his head to expose his neck, he briefly replies, ‘‘Just do what you need to do before I change my mind.’’. The brunette exhales. While Kyo unbuttons the first few buttons of the hunter’s shirt, he explains, ‘‘I don’t want to ruin your clothes and waste even a single drop of your blood.’’. After sliding down the shirt from one of the shoulders, Kyo strokes the redhead’s neck and comforts in a nearly purring voice ‘‘You are so stiff. Relax because it would be easier for both of us.’’. The nocturnal creature places his other hand on Iori’s shoulder. While the same hand stroked his neck, it slides down to the upper arm. When the Kusanagi’s face leans closely to Yagami’s neck, he inhales. For sure, just the hunter’s blood scent alone has such a strong effect that it already drives mad the vampire. Even his eyes began to glow in bright crimson red. While the redhead feels the ticklish sensation of the nocturnal creature’s hair and his breathing against his skin, he wonders whenever the vampire is hesitant to take his life force. Nevertheless, his further thoughts are interrupted by the sensation like two sharp needles pierces his skin. For sure, it makes him gasp and let the sudden groan. Without realizing it, Iori throws his arm on Kyo’s back and sinks his fingers into the vampire’s back. For sure, the brunette can feel the hunter’s nails deeply scratching his back through the thin t-shirt. He tries to avoid moving too much and damaging the redhead’s neck. Yet, the Kusanagi arches his back and closes his eyes. After their bodies pressed against each other, Kyo starts to feel Iori’s heartbeat. Somehow, Yagami’s warmth and rhythmic pulsing calm him down and make him forget about the pain. It even gives him a sense of comfort to him and relief. More so, Iori completely entrusts his body to Kyo while being so vulnerable in front of him. The nocturnal creature could even barely hold back his emotions. There are simply too many of them at once. Finally, Yagami trusts him enough to let him drink from the most intimate spot, and the taste of the hunter’s blood is like a divine treat. He was thirsting for it for too long, like a wanderer in the desert seeking the water. After Kyo closes his eyes, tears run down his cheeks. Hell, he even begins to let out purring-like noises. Meanwhile, the redhead gets drowsy as the vampire slowly drains him. Eventually, he lowers his arm. He isn't sure how long the vampire will feed on him, yet, he refuses to push Kyo away. At least not until the brunette is satisfied and full. Besides, it appears that the brunette too much enjoys drinking from him. ‘Does Kyo always acts like this towards his prey?’ — suddenly, such thought disturbs Iori. However, his so-called ‘stupid vampire’ surprises him. The redhead can feel how the same hand, which holds his upper arm, now wraps around his back, and the same hand on his neck moves down to his back as well. Iori doesn't mind such an affectionate gesture and allows Kyo to do as he pleases. He only silently murmurs, ‘‘You should focus on feeding on me, you stupid vampire.’’. Soon enough, the Kusanagi with-draws his face from the hunter's neck. Kyo just concentrates his blissfully calm gaze at the dark blood slowly running down from the bitten spots. However, just before Yagami says something, the brunette begins to lick the crook of Iori's neck and then trace it to his neck. However, Iori is alert at the sensation of how Kyo's tongue masterly works in the bitten neck's area. Even so, Yagami manages to speak up through a groaning voice, “The fuck, are you doing?... Enough already.”. One thing was when the vampire cleaned his left wounds in the wrist and hand areas and another thing when he does it now. Hell, the fact that he is still in a nocturnal creature's embrace leaves him at the brunette's mercy. Currently, Kyo cannot hear him, and his desire to savor every single drop of the hunter's blood is much stronger. So, who knows how long the brunette feasts on him. Fortunately, it doesn't last long. Soon enough, Kyo with-draws his face from Iori's neck and stares at him with his calm and blissful amber eyes. For sure, that gaze mesmerizes the hunter, and he gets tempted to touch the brunette. And thus, without realizing it, the redhead’s hand reaches the Kusanagi’s cheek ‘‘Did you have enough?’’. Kyo just closes his eyes and delightfully smiles. Yet, as his knee brushes the hunter’s inner thigh, he accidentally touches a suspicious bulge. Suddenly, the brunette widens his eyes, and he asks in a concerned tone ‘‘Do you always keep your whip with you? Wait… It cannot be… That’s not it, is it?’’. The nocturnal creature is bewildered by the sudden realization and comments in such disbelief ‘‘I don’t get it… How? Is it because of me?’’. However, the redhead hunter gets alerted and blushes after such a point out. For sure, it must be the vampire’s secretly used charms, right? There is no other explanation for why his body acts up like this. So, before it gets much worse or he gets mocked by the brunette, he has to escape. Or so, Iori tries to convince himself. ‘‘Get off, you fool!’’ — Yagami addresses Kyo while indignantly staring at him. However, no matter how hard he struggles to run away, the Kusanagi corners him. After a while, Iori gets tired by resisting and turns his head away. For now, he simply refuses to admit how he is defeated. Meanwhile, the nocturnal creature softens his gaze and comforts the hunter ‘‘Calm down. You might hurt yourself.’’. As he lowers his arms, the brunette speaks up in a calm voice ‘‘I know you might be disgusted and ashamed. Perhaps you even hate yourself because of how you reacted towards someone like me. However, if it stays like this, it might become too painful. So, endure it for a while. You can even close your eyes and imagine someone else doing it. I have never done it for anyone else, or at least with a man, but I-I’ll make sure that it will help you to feel relieved. Besides, if it is you, then it should be okay, I think. So, let me take the responsibility.’’ At this point, Iori realizes that it might be useless to argue with Kyo, nor after the confession like this. For now, he just murmurs ‘‘You stupid perverted vampire…’’. As he returns his gaze to the brunette, the redhead addresses him ‘‘Do you think that you will get away by seducing me?’’. As Iori grabs the Kusanagi’s t-shirt with one hand, he brings him closer. Lastly, the redhead suggests, ‘‘How about I’ll let you taste your own medicine before you make another move, huh?’’. Yet, Kyo cracks a bitter-sweet smile ‘‘I’m sorry, but I cannot risk your life. What if you also end up like that person?’’. After releasing the t-shirt, Iori raises his eye-brow ‘‘What are you talking about? Are you afraid?’’. The brunette softens his gaze and explains in a gentle tone, ‘‘I cannot let anyone die on me again. This is why. You know, when I was still participating in those underground tournaments, there was one person who, let’s just say, took a more in-depth interest in me. So, I accepted this person’s feelings ‘cos why not?’’. For some reason, Yagami begins to feel irritated and angry, knowing that he has to share the vampire with whoever it is. Yet, he listens further to the brunette’s story ‘‘Of course, since we started dating, I kept in secret that I am a vampire. So, I had to even time from time pretend to eat human food. One day, we decided to take our relationship to another level, and then, it happened.’’. Unfortunately, the redhead’s patience is running out, and he is already on the verge of choking the Kusanagi for being such a bastard and telling about his affairs. However, he decides to wait until the vampire finishes telling his story, and only then he'll throw the nocturnal creature through the window. However, once Kyo senses the murderous aura around the hunter, he asks, ‘‘Oi, you’re okay? Don’t tell me… Are you jealous? You know, you have no reason for that. Anyway, at least let me finish.’’. After taking a deep breath, the vampire continues to explain, ‘‘You know that vampires have two or three times sharper senses when we are in human form, right? Or how we activate our awakening form when we are in great danger? Then, our skin can absorb the life force just from a single touch. So, I accidentally transformed into my awakening form. You know, the very next moment when I opened up my eyes, I was genially in shock. Seeing a wrinkled skin bag in front of you, which was once a living creature, was not a very nice view. Yes, I got the life force. However, at what cost? So, ever since that day, I avoid getting into any relationship with anyone. Hell, I cannot risk anyone's life ever again. I lost my awakening form, but I may still hurt someone if that dark creature takes over my body.’’. When Iori finishes listening to Kyo’s story, he facepalms and sighs ‘‘So, just because you couldn’t control your vampire form, you decided to run away instead of trying to change anything…’’. After brushing his hair, the redhead continues to lecture the vampire ‘‘You keep causing trouble to me… But it seems that you will need to train to control your power as well.’’. Yet, his poker face gets cracked by the Kusanagi’s demanding gaze, ‘‘What do you want from me? Are you still obsessed with that, you stupid perverted vampire? Fine. Just this time only. But you better try not to make any sound or tell anyone else about it, got it?’’. While the vampire gives a suggestive look, he replies in a playful tone ‘‘I wonder who should be saying this ~’’. As Kyo leans closer to him, Iori can see how his partner is nervous and unsure. Yet, the brunette starts by removing the blanket, which covers the redhead’s lower body. Gladly, Yagami never wears pajama pants, only a long white shirt. So, at least now, it’s one inconvenience less. Before going for the next step, the Kusanagi briefly enjoys the view in front of him. No words could ever describe how he appreciates how pleasing the redhead looks wearing only a loose long shirt. Yet, Kyo softens his gaze at visible scars on Iori’s chest. As his fingers trace down the lines of his scratch marks, the vampire could feel them even on his chest. ‘‘What is it with you? You are the one who left them.’’ — The sudden hunter’s voice returns the Kusanagi into reality. After Iori slides his hand under Kyo’s t-shirt, he comments, ‘‘Too bad that your wounds heal too fast. Otherwise, I would have marked you. Perhaps, then it would warn anyone to stay away from you.’’. As Yagami’s hand slides from the brunette’s abs up to his chest, he remarks while massing his chest ‘‘Too bad that you could only bear that foolish demon’s mark…’’. For sure, it makes Kyo let out purring-like noises. However, he shows no sign of giving up to the hunter. Nor how he focuses on someone else instead of him. So, the nocturnal creature places one hand on Iori’s neck while he begins to lick behind his earlobe. At least it helped to shut down the hunter and makes him feverishly breathe while the brunette just silently chuckles. As he continues to tease his partner, the Kusanagi’s other hand moves down to the hunter’s lower regions. At first, Kyo hesitates to slide his hand inside his partner’s underwear. The brunette even impatiently looks at Iori, waiting for his approval. After a second, the vampire closes his eyes and pulls Yagami into a passionate kiss. Lastly, Kyo throws his arm over the redhead’s shoulder. After he got inside Iori’s mouth, Kyo’s tongue explored every little part of his partner’s mouth. At first, only the brunette lets out the sweet sighs between catching his breath, yet soon enough, Yagami also gives up to that pleasure. Meanwhile, the brunette’s other hand pulls out already throbbing, rock-hard Iori’s dick and strokes it. Eventually, his hand movement becomes faster and rougher. So, before leaving the bedside, the Kusanagi gently strokes Iori's cheek while whispering, “Don't worry, I'll return soon.”. Once the brunette washes down and changes him into fresh clothes, he makes sure that Iori lays comfortably in bed. Finally, Kyo can take a break too. Besides, there isn’t much that the brunette can do, and he can’t leave Iori’s room. First, the sun is still in the sky and may instantly burn him. Second, he is in a place infested by hunters, and they may not warmly greet him. It’s still surprising how anyone hasn’t sensed his presence. Although, there are more important issues to worry about. Or so the vampire wonders while kneeling and resting his head on his arms on the edge of the bed. One of them is how Iori will see him and treat him after yesterday evening. Their built trust might have been shattered because Kyo wished to satisfy his growing hunger and was blinded by his primal instincts. Perhaps there is no “might” to begin with. Or so the brunette convinces himself while failing to brush away the worries. A lot happened since the hunter let him taste his blood for the first time, even if it was just the redhead’s way of getting the vampire’s attention. Although, this human is helluva reckless and foolish for risking his life countless times while insulting the brunette as being one. “Only a stupid person calls the other one stupid…” Kyo murmurs while cracking a bitter smile and softening his gaze. Besides, no sane human would offer blood to the creatures he hunts. Even after their first encounter, Yagami should have been disappointed how his expected-to-be high-ranked vampire was under his foot without a sweat. Why did he believe in Kyo and his story? He could have killed someone who was nothing more than a weaker creature than a low-rank monster and continued seeking a powerful enemy. Instead, he has thrown his life away countless times for someone who should be a mere target for him. Along with that, the redhead hunter is too protective and caring for someone who is known as the terror of the night. On top of that, when the brunette unconsciously attacked him, Yagami didn’t hate him or want revenge. Contrary, the redhead wished to learn more about the same creature who assaulted him and help him. That’s why no matter hard Kyo thinks, the more he doesn’t understand Iori and his behavior. Why Yagami exposes his most vulnerable side and entrusts his life to nothing more than nature’s perfect killing machine? Who is he to Iori? Who is Iori to him? However, does any of that matter anymore? The hunter might be disgusted and see Kyo as only a low-life creature who acts depending on what his instincts tell him to do. Perhaps it might be for the better. Maybe that will make Iori act less recklessly. As long as that fool is alive and safe, that should only matter. It should be fine if Yagami may hate him. That stupid hunter deserves to be happy and no longer suffer because of him. Or so the brunette tries to convince himself even if these thoughts make him heartache. But why does something as simple and rational as this hurts him more than physical torture? In the end, the vampire doesn’t understand either Iori or himself. But for now, he closes his eyes and lets out a deep sigh. No matter how Kyo craves to rest his head on the hunter’s chest and calm down by listening to his heartbeat and breathing, he holds back and silently observes his partner. Some time passes. Soon enough, the redhead hunter wakes up and sits. After he looks down, he notices how a certain vampire rests his head like a cat. Suddenly, his slightest move makes Kyo lift his head and his gaze. Yet, as soon as his eyes meet upset, concerned amber eyes, both instantly turn their heads away. Even a couple of minutes lasting awkward silence seems like an eternity. After a few moments, Kyo speaks up in a shy tone while lowering his gaze “Hey, how are you feeling today, Yagami? Did… did you rest well or do you need anything?”. Meanwhile, the redhead places his palm on the bite marks left by the nocturnal creature. More so, the previous night's memories instantly overflow his mind. He doesn’t know what to say, or he can. It's like the words stuck in his throat while his ears and face are in heat. Suddenly, Kyo’s voice returns him to his senses “I can leave if you want. However, you might wanna wait until the sun goes down. But I promise I won’t bother you in the meantime… or be in your eyesight.”. For sure, these words make Yagami widen his eyes and facepalm “What are you up to?”. As he exhales and turns back, he adds “Did you cause any troubles while I was asleep?”. Yet, the brunette only dumbfounded stares at his partner and asks in a doubtful voice “Are you not disgusted and ashamed of what I did? You know… After what happened when I was feeding on you, you know.”. When he lowers his eyes again, he continues “I… I mean you have good reason, and I understand if you don't want to give me your blood anymore.”. Lastly, Iori closes his eyes and sighs “… You are truly a stupid vampire who worries too much where you shouldn’t.”. “Didn’t I tell you before? I could have finished you if you were a bother… What else do you expect me to say, you stupid fool!?” Or so the redhead hunter confesses before covering his embarrassed face. After Kyo notices Iori’s reaction, he is bewildered and has no idea how to deal with new emotions. Instead of asking unnecessary questions, he only whispers the hunter’s name. Suddenly, he sits next to the redhead and corners him by placing his palms on the bed. As the Kusanagi leans close, he stares at his partner with a demanding gaze. When their eyes finally meet again, instead of turning his head away, Yagami keeps a poker face without removing his eyes from these alluring amber ones “What do you want now?”. “Can we stay like this for a while?” Or so the brunette asks. Yet, he widens his eyes as he feels how Iori places his hand behind his back and another behind his head. When he rests his head against Yagami’s chest, he softens his gaze and exhales. While the redhead hunter ruffles Kyo’s hair, he replies “Stop asking stupid questions and do as you wish, you stupid vampire.”. When he feels how the pair of familiar arms wraps around his waist, he adds “But only for a bit longer.”. In the end, the nocturnal creature enjoys the hunter’s scent and warmth and lets out blissful, purring-like noises. Who knew that maybe this was something that the vampire desperately needed all his life? Now, even a single touch of care and affection feels so right and more than enough to compensate for all evil and injustice in his life. Even a simple, intimate gesture like this makes Kyo forget about the dark and vile creature lurking deep inside him. Finally, the brunette considers if Yagami is worthy of his trust and being his companion in his life. Unfortunately, Kyo understands that human life is as brief as a blink, and he’ll hurt himself for wanting this man by his side. Someday Iori will have to say “It’s over” before settling down on the journey to the netherworld. Meanwhile, all the brunette would do is let him free before his eternal rest. Does this noble creature of the night regret finally realizing he fell in love with a mortal? However, deep inside, he knows the answer better. That’s why Kyo wishes nothing more than to make the hunter’s life as best as possible and protect it with his own one before he needs to say a painful goodbye. However, he isn’t sure whether Yagami will accept him as a part of his life. For now, it's pointless to ask him anything and ruin this peaceful moment. Perhaps he’ll show Iori what he wants to say when he defeats him someday. If this is the only way to reach the redhead, he needs to become strong. But for now, the brunette closes his eyes and rubs his cheek against the hunter’s chest while tightly hugging him. Some time passes. As the redhead hunter sticks the medical plaster on his neck and fixes the collar of his coat, he addresses Kyo sitting on the bed “We need to leave. So, change into bat form and get into the pocket. There should be enough space for you.”. Yet, the vampire objects “I told you I don’t know how did I even do that in the first place… I can give it a go, but it might not work this time.”. After Yagami exhales, he turns around and patiently replies “Then, wait for me. I need to sort something.”. Just before opening the door and leaving, he adds “If anyone talks to you, do not open the door or say anything, got it?”. Such a note doesn’t satisfy the brunette, and he backfires in an annoyed tone “Oi, do you think that I’m a child?”. As Iori cracks a smile, he comments “Knowing you, you may act as one if I turn around for a second.”. Lastly, he adds before taking his leave “So, behave yourself before I'll find someone who may help you.”. A half-hour passes. While the vampire picks another book from Yagami’s personal library, he almost drops the book by hearing the sudden knock on the door and the voice of a certain demon hunter “Yagami-chan, are you here?”. “Shit… Just go away! Leave!” Or so the brunette thinks as he sends a threatening gaze toward the door. For now, he cannot afford to make the slightest move or sound. Otherwise, he will put Iori into great trouble. A minute passes, and Kyo hears another knock on the door and the same persistent fellow “Are you still asleep? There is something I need to show you. I know you are here. So, open the door.”. "Damn it, leave already!" Once again, the vampire thinks to himself. Another few minutes pass by. By far no sound of the impostor. Perhaps he gave up and left. Or so assumes Kyo when he lets out a relieved sigh. After Kyo sneaks to the door, he carefully lowers the handle and cracks the door to peek outside. Unfortunately, he falls into the hunter’s trap and hears his victorious voice “Here you are~ I knew you are here, little vampire.”. Suddenly, Kyo frowns and opens the door “What do you want from me?”. When he notices a tall, muscular hunter with short silver hair, he nervously swallows saliva while staring at that man. Meanwhile, Yashiro gives a smug look and greets the vampire “Yo! So, we meet again, little one.”. Instead of saying anything, Kyo withdraws and lets the veteran hunter inside, ensuring no one else will see them. Without wasting time, the brunette demands answers “How did you know that I’m here? And what do you need from me or Yagami? Whatever it is, just leave him out of this!”. “You have a lot of guts to show up here. So, I’ll give you credit for ya.” The silver-hair remarks. After a brief pause, he continues “Do you think I cannot sense an unusual presence in this place? You may disguise it from less experienced hunters, but it won’t slide through me or the Guild’s Master. I’m still surprised how he has done nothing yet… Well, it's not important at the moment, little one. On the other hand…”. As Yashiro places his hands in his pants pockets, he closely approaches the brunette. When he thrusts his chest, he addresses the smaller male in a serious tone “Didn't I warn you not to approach Hunter Guild? If I’m not mistaken, Yagami-chan sent you enough food. So, you must stay away and not feed on the guild members, vampire.”. When he clenches a fist and punches his own palm while his eyes glow in crimson color, he adds in a slightly growling voice “I’ll show you what happens when anyone dares to harm guild’s members under my watch!”. Despite being intimidated by the large man, Kyo steps back without removing his eyes from him “How do you know that I drink Yagami’s blood?”. After Yashiro roughly grabs his opponent by his t-shirt collar in one hand and lifts him, he replies “Do you think that I haven't noticed how Yagami-chan poorly hide the bite mark and was walking like a swinging drunkard? He might have fooled anyone by lying that he accidentally cut himself. Hell, that fool was persistently denying how a vampire fed on him. But the vampire’s smell on him was too strong… I’m not sure how did you wrap my disciple around your finger, but you won’t get away from manipulating and hurting him!”. While the vampire struggles under the veteran hunter’s grasp, he defends himself “I told him to be careful! And I even asked twice if he was fine with it. I didn’t mean to harm him or upset him!”. For sure, the nocturnal creature’s story piqued his interest, and Yashiro lowers him. Soon, the brunette lowers his head and continues his confession “I don’t care if you gonna believe me or not - but I come here only to see how Yagami is doing and then, leave. However, when he saw how my instincts were acting up, he offered his blood. Even if this time he allowed me to drink more than usual, I knew when to stop before draining him too much.”. As Kyo lifts his head, his eyes glow crimson, and his fangs appear. Lastly, he speaks up in a confident tone “More importantly, he is the first human putting his faith in me. That’s why I won’t forgive anyone - no mortal, god or devil if a single hair of his head will fall!”. However, the taller man only crosses his arms and laughs. After all, such a small creature with big eyes tries to look like a terrifying monster. Such a reaction makes the Kusanagi ask in an indignant voice “What’s so funny about it? Do you wanna kick your ass or what?”. Meanwhile, the demon hunter remains amused and comments ‘‘For a tiny little fellow, you have a big attitude. No wonder why, Yagami-chan was weirdly acting since he let go of some pesky low-rank vampire off the hook and didn’t bring his head to the guild. After his first encounter with Kain, I knew something was off when he mentioned a vampire getting paralyzed and about to be sacrificed. Even your smell is so goddamn awful familiar to one Yagami keeps talking about. So, you are that same little vampire.’’. “And? Why do you care that much? Does that bother you?” Or so the nocturnal creature backfires. However, Yashiro only calmly explains “Do you not understand yet? Each time when he gets into a fight over petite details, I carry him to the infirmary and he usually behaves well until he recovers. However, this time, he was resisting and tried to escape. He could barely move, but it didn’t stop him. Even when he was in pain, he crawled and wanted to leave. But now, I see the reason for this behavior in front of me.”. After hearing these words, the brunette briefly lowers his gaze and speaks up with sensible guilt in his voice “But it was my fault that he ended up like this. If I didn’t run away back then, I wouldn’t run into that hunter and Yagami being provoked by him… I understand if you want to finish me now.”. When the silver-haired man places his hands on Kyo’s shoulders and grips them, he observes how the vampire hisses at him but stares at him. Lastly, he replies ‘‘And kill my reckless disciple’s life purpose and goal? You, little pipsqueak, do you realize that fool cares about you?’’. After the veteran hunter facepalms and sighs, he continues ‘‘Listen. If you want to help him, learn to suppress your presence and control your vampire side, little one. It’s not that hard, and I promise you, you’ll attract less unwanted attention.’’. When he releases the brunette’s shoulders, he explains “Iori’s father and I were a good friends. You can say that when his parents died in the accident, I raised him as my own child. So, if I see him injured or wrecked… You better pray that it won’t happen because I will hunt you down wherever you are and, in best case, you will become my personal punching bag.”. While Yashiro watches the stressed vampire, he returns to his old self and speaks up in his usual cheerful tone “Relax, little one! So, stop staring at me as if I’m about to eat you. Oh well, it seems that I won’t need to bring for Yagami-chan a corpse of a vampire who sneaked into his room today and teaching him a lesson to keep the windows closed… After all, Yagami-chan would be so mean to me and cry for beating shit out of his little friend~”. Just before the silver-haired man leaves, he bids farewell “Well, take care of him for me while he is outside the guild, okay? So, I’ll see you later, little one!”. Another hour passes by. Finally, the redhead hunter returns. However, he is not empty-handed. When he carries a pile of neatly folded clothes, he murmurs while closing the door “That laughing fool Yashiro… He should mind his business or else he will… What if I got it for myself? That stupid fool!”. When Iori looks at Kyo, he tosses these clothes at him “Here. Catch this!”. Fortunately, the brunette’s reaction is quick, and he catches it. As he raises his eyebrow, he asks “What am I supposed to do with it?”. “You can’t go around wearing pajama all the time. So, put these on and let me know if it fits you or not.” Or so Yagami briefly explains. While Kyo studies these items, he raises his eyes and replies “Fine, I get it~ So, let me see what you got there.”. As he removes the worn t-shirt, he slightly frowns while giving an irritated gaze to the hunter, who is not affected “Do you really have to stare at me?”. “Just hurry up and change, you stupid vampire.” Or so the vampire hunter replies while fixing his long coat collar. In the meantime, the brunette observes the black t-shirt and jeans and puts them on. Even the white leather coat resembles his previous clothes. “Did he really go to get him a set of outfits two times in a row? He shouldn’t have gone through all that trouble. I would be fine even with the cloak or a blanket…” Or so Kyo wonders as he puts on the last piece of clothing. Even if it is hard to deny it, he feels secretly happy for being spoiled. And thus, without realizing it, his cheeks warm up. But for now, as the vampire hunter approaches Kyo, he picks something from one of his inner chest’s pockets and gives it ‘‘You should put this on as well.’’. Apparently, a small golden pendant with the sun’s emblem catches the vampire’s attention. While he tries to figure out what that means, he hears Yagami’s explanation “I ran into that fool Yashiro earlier. Tsk, that cheeky bastard can’t just mind his goddamn business, can he? So, he gave me this and told me that it can suppress any supernatural creature’s presence, including sacred people and hunters. I tossed it at his face, but that idiot insisted on me having it. But if he is right, it might come in handy.”. For now, the nocturnal creature lowers his gaze as he stares at the pendant. Of course, the silver-haired hunter doesn’t trust him. On the other hand, it’s understandable that he might be only doing this, not because he wants some vampire to sneak out without being noticed. But for his disciple's sake and for him to stay out of trouble. “That’s why there shouldn’t be any reason to get upset. If anything, I should be thankful that instead of getting captured, that man offers help.” The brunette thinks to himself as he puts on the pendant. Suddenly, the redhead’s question makes him lift his head ‘‘What’s wrong? Did anything happen when I was gone? You haven’t left the room, have you?’’. Instead of saying anything, Kyo shakes his head, and Iori adds “Good. Because gods know what happens if anyone notice you, and god forbids if it’s Yashiro…”. Lastly, Iori extends his hand “Get up. We need to leave now.”. As the vampire nods, he takes the offered hand and stands up. For now, he understands that it’s better to keep in secret about his and Yashiro’s encounter. Besides, if the golden pendant works, they should leave the guild without encountering anyone, right? Or so the brunette naively believes. Finally, this couple reaches the main hall. However, the very little that they know is that they won’t leave the guild that smoothly. Apparently, a certain demon hunter wearing a steampunk outfit spots the redhead vampire hunter and awfully familiar type next to him. Instead of wondering whether his senses are correct, the young brunette approaches them and waves “Ah! Isn’t it Mister Vampire from before?”. Such a note temporally gets the crowds’ attention and makes Kyo and Iori the center of attention. Suddenly, the redhead instinctively grabs his dumbfounded partner’s arm. While Iori prompts him to go, he gives the others a piercing, deadly glare. Fortunately, his threatening gaze alone is enough to warn anyone to mind their own business and ignore them. Yet Chris is too stubborn to let this duo go. While the younger brunette follows them, he whines “You’re too mean to me!~ Hey, wait for me! I was just joking! So, wait for me!~”. Just before Kyo and Iori reach the entrance gate, the sudden appearance of the younger brunette in front of them startles them. Lastly, Chris delightfully smiles while holding his hands behind his back “Te he~ I got you now. So, you won’t run away now.”. As Iori takes a step forward, he asks “What do you want from us, you stupid brat? Move!”. “You’re rude, mister. All I’m here is to say "Hi" to the big bro next to you. That’s it.” Chris states while puffing his cheeks. Instead of paying attention to the demon hunter, the redhead turns his head to Kyo “We’re leaving. Now.”. Lastly, he ignores the pesky youngster and pushes the gate open. Meanwhile, Chris lowers his head and curves a sadistic smile. Suddenly, Kyo widens his eyes and freezes in the same spot by hearing an innocent, singing voice behind them “Hmm~ I wonder what would Yashiro do if I tell him that a deadly monster infiltrated in the Guild and hurt his silly, little disciple? Who knows…”. Even Iori realizes it’s better not to get into the bad side of the younger hunter. After Yagami turns around, he shields his partner with one arm while growling at his enemy. Yet, Chris only narrows his gaze while keeping his smile “Eh? That is so scary. But I suggest you two and I meet in a more desolated place where there aren't too many ears and eyes.”. For the first time in a while, the vampire speaks up “Fine. If this is what you want, let’s get to the business.”. In the end, the young demon closes his eyes and cheerfully replies “You should say so earlier.”. As he gives a mocking to the redhead hunter, he adds “I’m so glad at least one of you has an ounce of brain left. Unlike someone like you. Fu fu~”. Lastly, Chris walks behind them and wraps his one arm around Iori and the other around Kyo and prompts them to return to the guild “Then, what are waiting for? Let’s go!”. Some time passes by. Finally, they enter the library. Surely, a spacious place filled with enormous bookshelves and storing the knowledge collected through the entire history of the Hunter Guild. It also includes information about the Great Demon Outbreak, legendary hunter clans, hunting techniques, bestiaries, and much more, which may impress anyone. Lastly, the library has the weirdly calming scent of old paper. Meanwhile, the younger brunette leads Kyo and Iori while reminding them to stay close to avoid getting lost in such an enormous, endless maze. After a while, they reach the end of the library. However, instead of wasting their time any longer, the redhead straightforwardly asks “What do want from us that? It’s better to be worth of our time.”. “First, the big bro can relax and not suppress his presence anymore.” Or so Chris casually replies. This time the older brunette gives the questions in a serious tone “Did you bring us here just to blackmail us?”. As the demon hunter leans against the wall, he answers “Why should I? I won't get anything from it. On the other hand…”. Lastly, he lowers his head and briefly chuckles. When he lifts his head, he points the shining, silver blade at the vampire while smiling “Hey, stop hiding in this weak form, mister vampire. Or do you prefer dying like this? Either way, is fine by me.”. Lastly, the brunette’s eyes glow in ice blue while the chilling, dark energy surrounds him. Suddenly, Iori throws one of his knives at the young hunter “You little piece of…”. Unfortunately, his sent attack is reflected by the invisible power shield. As the thrown blade hits the ground, Chris addresses him in a threatening voice “Do not interface. Or do not realize what kind of threat that vampire possesses?”. “The hell with that! I don’t give a shit about what you or anyone thinks. Kyo is mine, and no one is allowed to take him down aside me! So, remember this.” Or so the redhead declares. Meanwhile, the older brunette only silently observes the sharp knife pointing at his neck. Now, the demon hunter lowers his blade while giving a mocking look to Yagami “If that is so?”. As he approaches Iori, he addresses him “You know, that vampire is not as innocent and weak as he looks. Why do you think the Guild Master placed such a generous bounty on such a creature? No, that is not because of an entire town in cold blood. It barely scratches the surface of what he is capable of, and the Guild Master knew it. That is an incarnation of evil in flesh, and it’s only the matter of time until his true self awakens. So, let the other hunters do their job or finish him before it’s too late, Yagami Iori.”. After a brief pause, he comments “I’m still surprised how no one, not even Guild Master or Yashiro, hasn't noticed or done anything about him yet. He is so close yet no one sees him…”. When he closes his eyes and places his arms behind his shoulders, he continues “Well, whatever… It’s nothing that I care about saving the world or getting rich. However, Yashiro might get upset that I overlooked a vampire who can kill his stupid disciple or anyone whom he is fond of.”. After Chris opens his eyes, they return to their former color, and his dark energy disappears. Suddenly, he startles the Kusanagi when he looks at him. Even as the younger brunette stares into the vampire’s eyes, he addresses whoever is behind them “So, you can’t hide who you truly are from me. I can see how twisted and disgusting entity you are. How can I forget one like you? But I’m impressed how long you’ve been sealed in this body and without causing too much mayhem, Kusanagi Kyo, or if this is what you are called this time. Either way, I’m looking forward to playing with you again when you are ready. So, don’t disappoint me, mister vampire.”. In the end, the young demon hunter addresses this couple “Eh? Why do you stare at me as if I told something awful? I just pointed out the obvious. Anyway, that’s all I wanted to tell.”. When he pushes them, he prompts them to leave “What are you waiting for? Leave before I’ll change my mind and I tell on you to Yashiro.”. Some time passes. Finally, Kyo and Iori are heading toward the witch’s shop. Even so, the nocturnal creature cannot shake off his head of the couple hunters’ words. After all, how many have known about his presence or who lurks deep inside him and wants him dead because of that alone? On the other hand, he is surprised that ‘Nagi’s presence is as weak as non-existent nowadays. Not even during the encounter with the giant bat, the blond hunter, nor when Iori got injured. Something is off, and he doesn’t like this feeling. What if that dark creature wants Kyo to think he is asleep while waiting for the best moment to take over his body? In any case, he cannot let himself relax now. Not until Yagami and Kagura will help him to seal ‘Nagi. Or so Kyo thinks to himself on their way. Yet, the redhead’s voice returns him to reality “What’s wrong? Are you overthinking again? Just hurry up. Or do you prefer to be dragged?”. As the brunette cracks a smile, he backfires “If you want to and have too much unused energy, I don’t mind. Besides, get used to carrying me because it may become your routine after I beat your ass~” “Tsk, just try, and you’ll end up under my foot.” Or so Yagami briefly replies.
