“You really choose a good mate.anyway keep your anger down we will be out of your life by tonight. We’re moving out heading overseas.” Juno added with a huff as he looked over at his elder brother. “Dont forget to write to us. And at least visit with mom...the house is becoming to empty.” Juno finished looking away from Yukie as he walked out and down to the kitchen not afraid of Tiernan since he didn’t care much for him.

”Tiernan...just go. I don’t need your pity. I don’t want a mate who’s not accepting of those around me and in my life” Yukie snapped back his body shaking in anger at how Tiernan was acting like he was just some pet that needed caring for. “Star is able to hunt and actually control my rage you keep running from me and it just proves you made a mistake being my mate!” Yukie added his voice hurt but deeply angry as he threw a pillow at Tiernan.

"Is that what you think?" Tiernan looked at Yukie in hurt and disbelieve. "You forgot that some of this happened because of your omission. But great. I don't know why I bothered worrying about you when time and time again you hurt me, telling me someone else is taking better care of you, provide things better for you and understand you better. I'm such a shitty mate, aren't I?" He let out a tight laugh. "I didn't run away from you, Yukie. You pushed me away. Even now you're relying on someone other than me. I don't care how many people you have in your life. All I've seen is you never treat me as your real mate! That's it, isn't it. I'm not, because I'm just a 'lowly' human." He picked up the thrown pillow and dumped it aside. Tiernan was quiet for a moment, composing himself. "Just...just send me pictures okay. I want to at least see my babies," he said, voice so low, it was almost a whisper. He looked at Star instead of Yukie, because it hurt too much to let go of someone he loved. "You'll take good care of them, won't you? Keep them and Yukie safe." He waited at the door for Star to give his confirmation, ready to leave once he got he answer.

“I don’t want to think like that but, your...your just so fragile. You can be killed so easily...if I hurt you you would flinch away from me maybe even remove our kids for their safety” Yukie whispered his voice breaking as he looked away from Tiernan not wanting to be the one to drag the person he loved into death. “I don’t want to kill anymore. I don’t like it.” Yukie added his voice breaking as he sat down. Looking over at Star Yukie was waiting for his answer also.

“....no. I won’t raise them or stay by his side if you leave. The deal was I was support not a mate. I love Yukie but I have no intentions of being anything more then a close friend at this point I mean I don’t know how I would even support them” Star replied as he looked at Yukie. “I know nothing about this world I mean I only woke up two days ago. How do you expect me to be able to care for them when I can’t even fend for myself yet” Star finished as he looked at Tiernan. “I’m not going to raise your family with Yukie I love him but...I’m not ready there’s a reason we never settled down and had kids” Star added with a frown as he moved over to Tiernan.

Tiernan went back into the room, pulled another chair but dragged it far away from the two demons. "How do you expect me to be here with a mate who doesn't have faith in me and at the same time looking at his other mate who knew everything about him," Tiernan started pulling his hair in frustration. "You need to understand that you've mated a human. As fragile as we were, I'm tougher than most. If you can't see past that, then we're doomed. You need to stop thinking about future killings that may or may not happen. Do you even trust me enough to care for you and our children?" His voice started raising again.

He looked at Star, annoyed more than ever. he was there with Yukie, telling him he loved him but he can't take care of Yukie's family? Tiernan knew he wasn't being totally fair, he didn't want Yukie to raise their children alone. "I'm giving you some space, Yukie, one that you wanted so much. I'll come back because right now, there's so much shit I need to deal with, you're not one of them, so I don't want you to get entangled in my own stupid emotions. Can you promise me to take care of yourself and our children until I come back? I won't be long, just a few day, a week tops." Tiernan looked up at Yukie wanting his agreement. "I love you Yukie. Maybe it doesn't seem like anything to you, but I would rather die than not having you in my life. But we need to sort this out. NOt just us, but the problem out there too. Do you understand?"

“I understand. I’ll send you any work that needs fixed or sent to your brother if I can’t do it myself” Yukie replied as he got up and left the room changing into his wolf form as he went down the stairs and outside waiting for Star.

”...I’m going to go with him. He needs out of the house maybe I can get him to hunt and eat raw meat for a start” Star replied not willing to let Yukie run off on his own. “I’ll bring him back once he’s calmed down...but if you want to leave do it now so it hurts less” Raven added Changing forms as he left and followed Yukie running to keep up with him yet giving the male space to think.

The worse thing about leaving was not being able to kiss Yukie goodbye, but his mate had left and didn't even spare a glance at him. Tiernan went downstairs and looked for Yuen. "I'm sorry for everything," he said to the older man. "I don't know if Yukie would still need me in the future, but please let me know anything I can do, for him and for the babies," he said, never feeling so dejected in his entire life. He took out something from his pocket -- the dog tag he had wore when he was in the military. "Could you pass this to Yukie please? It's fine it he didn't want to have anything to do with it or throw it away, but I just want him to have something of mine." He passed the tags on silver chain to the doctor and bid his farewell.

Instead of heading home, Tiernan called his military contact. He arranged for a meeting and decided even if he and Yukie were not together, he would still want to fight for him and for his children's safety. "Yes sir, we're doing this task force. I need everyone on board. No better time than now," he said over the phone as he headed to the base.

Yukies time in the mountains was therapeutic to say the least. Taking his time he wandered and relaxed stripping away the weight of everything around him. Three days in he eventually came back to society his body looking a little thin but nothing to serious. Over his three days in the woods he had talked with Star giving him his own tasks and what he wanted of him. Packing a small waterproof bag Yukie left the house taking the small medical bag from Yuen and the necklace he had been left. To his parents it was a simple camping trip a nice break from work and a time to find his roots. As Yukie sat in the car in silence until Star had stopped at the ocean watching the ice cold wash crash against the shore. “What do I tell people?” Star asked a little unsure of Yukies plan but...well he needed the time to think and figure out who and what he needed.

”tell them I just vanished. Eventually I’ll contact you. You’ll get emails of my work and occasional text messages until I’m ready to come home” Yukie explained with a small frown staring at the ocean as the waves brushed his feet.

”and Tiernan?” Star asked unsure if it was in his place to do as Yukie asked.

”do as discussed, your not my mate and it’s best we take some time apart to. I want you to love on and learn about the world. Each week I’ll send you pictures to send to him and that should be enough” Yukie finished walking out into the ocean the icy water hitting his system hard before he disappeared the only view of him being of an opal tail vanishing into the darkened waters.

It had been days since Tiernan slept. He wa stired and his eyebags had bags. The task force was established and he was glad he had the backings of the military higher ups. Working with his brothers in arms again gave him the space he needed to clear his muddled mind. he still missed Yukie, missed him a lot. Every night they were apart he had nightmares and Tiernan ended up choking his tears missing his mate. He wanted to hear Yukie's voice and smell his hair and stroke his chinchilla ears but Tiernan stopped himself from calling, fearing that someone else would answer and he'd be crushed once again.

The task force was finally in full operation a week later. They even had a headquarters and their own intel unit. Tiernan could finally breathe and the first thing he thought about was Yukie. "I'm going to take the rest of my day off," he told one of the agents in the task force. Tiernan got into his car and drove out to Yuen's house. As soon as he reached the place, he felt numb. There was something that bothered him, like the lack of presence. He rushed to the front door and pressed the bell, waiting for someone to open it, hopefully Yukie.

“Ah! Tiernan. What a nice surprise.” Yue replied as she opened the door wiping her hands on her apron. “Come on in.” She offered the house eerily quiet since the twins had moved out at the younger children where off in school. Setting out some cookies and tea Yue stood by her pot of soup. “My guess is your here to check on Yukie right?” She asked her voice a little saddened by the question.

”thought I smelled Tiernan” Star mumbled half awake as he came downstairs in some loose pajamas and helped himself to some snacks. “Did you tell him?” Star asked as Yue sighed and shook her head.

Tiernan took a step inside and looked at Star. "What? What should you tell me?" he asked, impatient to know what they were talking about. "Where is Yukie? Is he doing well?" he added quickly. Star looked unhurried, so that seemed like a good sign, but he still hate the lack of presence in the house. "I wanted to call, but I'd feel much better to see him. Is he resting?" He asked again, making a move to go to Yukie's room.

“Well Yukies in Russia...well last I checked he sends postcards but they are usually here after he’s left” Star replied going to a drawer in Yuen’s office and opening it. Pulling out a thick package of papers Star handed it to Tiernan. Inside was a few pictures of Yukie taken by some guides in various parts of the world and his travels. Yukie of course was smiling and enjoying himself. Among the photos where ultrasound pictures with notes on the babies growths and news about Yukies health. The notes contained happy parts about how healthy Yukie had gotten and how the babies where thriving in the change of environment. Added into the mix of souvenirs was some small post cards and items from different groups of demons that had been kind enough to host Yukie in their homes and show him the culture he had grown up away from. This added to a small scrapbook showing pictures and many notes and medical notes about everything on his adventures.

”Star can’t tell us much but he’s reassured us Yukie is safe and relaxing. He contacts Star every week and sends us letters.” Yue explained saddened by the fact Yukie just disappeared.

”Yukie sent that package to you specifically. Something about photos of the babies” Star added with a yawn as another male came down the stairs and kissed stars cheek helping himself to coffee.

Tiernan paled when he heard that Yukie was gone. He had been wanting to contact him so many times and was angry at himself for not doing it sooner. "You didn't think you should have told me sooner?" Tiernan glared at Star. He was supposed to be taking care of Yukie, not staying with his family and act like he had been another child adopted in. "What happened to you taking care of him, dammit! If I had known you'd leave him alone I wouldn't have trusted you." He directed his frustration at the other demon. "And who the hell is this dude. Didn't you say you love Yukie? 'Love' my ass." He added as he gathered all of the pictures and items Yukie had sent to him. "And Yukie didn't even have a contact number or anything? He's targeted, for fucks' sakes and you let him go alone?!" Tiernan rambled on. His mate was exposing himself in danger and there was no way for him to get in touch with him. Once again, Tiernan glared at Star. "Find out where he is, I don't care how you do it." he said before he turned around and left the house empty of his mate.

“That went as well as expected.” The other demon replied as he looked at Yue. “Coffees good! New brand?” The demon as as Star chuckled and helped himself to a cup of coffee.

~Tiernan. By the time this letter reaches you I’ll be in a warmer climate. I’ve taken boarding with a clan of vampires. I’m learning how to balance normal food and my desire for blood. The vampires are fascinating and are excited about our babies. I’ve also learned I can create other demons through venom much like the vampires can. This clan lives high up in the mountains where it’s easier to hunt and avoid humans while hunting. They do get along with the villages nearby though. It’s a great balance between the two. Anyway I’ll write again next week hopefully the pictures comfort you that I am safe and fine. Also I asked Star to start introducing you to the others I’ve met on my travels they are interested in working to help make other places safer for humans and demons. If you can be nice to Star he’s taking a lot of anger and my work while I’m gone.

Setting the letter down Yukie yawned tiredly the sun setting slowly against the sky as he handed off his letter to be sent to Tiernan knowing he would get it in about four days due to the ‘fallen’ demons (basically angels) delivering the letters faster for him.

After putting down the first letter and pictures from Yukie, Tiernan went to his desk and grabbed a pen and and notepad. He started scribbling without knowing how to get it delivered to his mate.

Dear Yukie,

I'm so angry and worried at you for leaving without me. I know I haven't been a good mate and had been pulling myself away from you, but you have to know I always thought you'd be near. Now that you're so far away and out of reach, I can't sit still. The nightmares have returned, but that's nothing new. But when you appeared in them, it was even worse. I want to start dreaming beautiful things about you, about our children...

I miss you so much. I know you need the space and I'm glad that you have found a way to manage the bloodthirst. I made progress with the task force as well. We have a headquarter where I can monitor the progress. I hope I could see you again soon. It feels like a physical pain to be without you. When you come back, please let me know. I love you so much.

He folded the letter and inserted it into an envelop. The next morning, he rushed back to Yuen's house and knocked on the door. He told Star that he didn't care how, but he needed the letter to be delivered to Yukie. And before he left, he told the annoying demon 'thank you'.

“Alright I’ll have the next one sent to you.” Star yelled after Tiernan as he chuckled and went back inside to go call his mail carrier friend.

Relaxing under the warm sun Yukie sighed happily his babies kicking away and energized as he watched the next clan members he was staying with come by and lead him to their home. Once settled he took the letter Tiernan had wrote his heart heavy as he read it and started writing back.

I'm sorry for hurting and worrying you. It breaks my heart to hear your suffering while I’m selfishly being away. While I regret hurting you...I don’t regret my trip. I feel more at peace with what I am and my role in the world then I ever have before. I can’t wait to see your task force and I hope you enjoy the demons I send back to help teach you how to defend yourself and I hope you all get along well and work alongside each other. I can’t wait to show you all I’ve learned and unlocked about myself also, I’ve gotten a lot tougher and am quite the warrior. I plan on coming home when I feel I’m at a good spot in life and when I’m ready I’ll call you to come pick me up and take me home. I’ve recently been nesting with the ravens. They have shown me how to fly and properly care for my wings and feathers. It’s interesting learning so much about myself through others of my kind...I’ve learned it doesn’t matter how much of a demon you are. We are all close and share so much in common. I’ve started learning how to co exists with humans in a better way my temper is much better I’ve actually helped solve problems lately. The babies, they’ve gotten quite big. It’s been rather hard to move around lately. The doctor here says I should be giving birth in the summer if they continue growing the way they do. My bed feels lonely. It’s...empty without you and I miss your scent. Sometimes I find myself looking and searching for you. The smell from your letter is hardly enough to make me feel like your still close by. Please write more I miss you.

Sighing softly Yukie looked at the letter before packing the bracelet and a comfy blanket he had learned to make. Throwing in a few new photos of him looking much like the other male birds in the clan the only difference was his white feathers. Smiling a little he sent off the letter with the male who delivered it and made the long trip back the demon standing in front of Tiernan’s door and with a small smile knocked softly while holding the big package close.

It had been a few hard nights, Tiernan hardly sleep with the nightmares plaguing him. But when he opened the door and greeted with the sight of a demon carrying a package, Tiernan hopes went up and he opened the door wider. "That's for me?" he asked. he took the package and opened it right in front of the demon, not wanting to wait for another moment. "Would you please come inside while I write something for Yukie?" he asked and opened the door wider. Tiernan immediately went to his desk and started writing.

Dear my Yukie,

I'm so happy to know you are well. Thank you for the gifts, they are wonderful and the blanket is smooth, just like you in your sweet chinchilla boy form. The bracelets are lovely, I will wear them. I love how you look in the pictures. I miss you so much. I wish I could see you in person.

I don't think I need to learn how to defend myself, but if you're sending some demons to teach me and the guys at the HQ your way, then we'd gladly accept. Since we're fighting for the same cause, I'm sure they'd appreciate the understanding more. Some of the guys working with me in the task force are seeing other paranormals romantically. A couple of them are in relationships with demons. I'm happy for them because if reminds me of you and me. I wish I could touch you right now, I miss talking to your belly when you're asleep and feel the babies kick my hand. Please come back soon. I want to hold you in my arms and kiss you.

Tiernan sealed the letter and went to his closet and took out a plaid shirt. He remembered how Yukie loved the scent of his shirt, so he folded it neatly and packed it along with the letter. "Please take this to Yukie. Thanks," he said to the demon and watched it fly away.

Yukie looking out at the plains now watched as the sun set. Over the last few months he had sent letters back and forth when he could and pictures. Having received his latest letter from Tiernan he hadn’t written back as fast. Having been spending a few weeks with the centaurs had left him breathless. In their territory they shared with the fae and other more hard to see creatures. Due to this Yukie didn’t have pictures to send but added along to his pile to send back sketches and information. While he had kept the shirt tucked away and slept with it at night, Yukie had hit a point where it wasn’t possible for him to continue. With his body being much farther along he was struggling to keep up or stay away some days. After a few days of rest and relaxing he made his way back to civilization and to an area to send one small text message.

-Tiernan. I’m going to be coming home next week below is my arrival time.-

Having pushed send on the text message Yukie sighed and headed to a safe coven to eat and to stay the night until he could get on his ship early the next morning. As the night passed Yukie slept and at the rise of the sun met up with his escort back home the centaur quite enormous and built for battle as he looked at the tiny demon below him. “I expected someone less small.” The centaur teased as he ruffled the demons hair.

”seems I’ve found out why we are taking a ship through the last half back” Yukie admitted knowing the three day trip would be quite the experience.

”planes and I don’t get along and I’m not having you stay in the storage stables with me” the centaur replied with a small chuckle leading the way with Yukie making sure to keep him in his sight as they met three other demons waiting for them.

”seems Star planned a decent passage back my prince~” the vampire replied with a small smile his teeth flashing in the soft morning light. “We will ensure your safety as we escort you back home and into your domain.”
 

“From what I’ve received these are what you need to look over and have sorted.” The fallen (angel) demon added holding a package of paperwork for Yukie to go over Yukie having been hard at work making sure he would be able to take over as the rightful heir to the demon society and be able to rule alongside demons and humans.

”But, for now...let’s get him settled. No sense in exhausting him” the wolf demon added as they all boarded and set off.

-three days later-

“we are here.” The centaur added standing at the edge of the city with Yukie the fallen demon and wolf waiting beside him as the vampire went to get their luggage sorted out so they could get ready to head home.

Tiernan waited for more reply from Yukie, but it never came. He was getting worried, wondering if anything back had happened to him while he was with the other paranormal clan. Then came the short text message from Yukie, telling him where and when he would be back. It was an agonizing wait of three days, but that morning, Tiernan woke up so early because the anticipation was killing him. When the ship docked and the bridge was extended, Tiernan got up on his legs and rushed there. It had been months and there was nothing stopping him to see Yukie anymore. Some of the passengers left the ship and Tiernan was getting nervous. What is Yukie didn't get on it? what if he was delayed? He didn't receive any notification from Yukie, so he must have been on the ship.

"Yukie!" He shouted, hoping his mate would notice him instead. "Yukie, where are you?" he called out, frantically scanning every faces so that he didn't miss Yukie's.

“Tiernan!” Yukie yelled as he stood by the very tall centaur who looked over and waved for Tiernan to see them. Yukie being rather short stayed close to the group that was escorting him to where he needed to be. 
 

“your mate?” One of the demons  asked as they held Yukies duffle bag for the overly pregnant demon who was already looking to tiered to stand any longer.

”yes.” Yukie replied happily excited to see his mate again after his long three months away.

Tiernan spin when he heard Yukie’s voice calling for him. It took a few second, but as soon as he saw his mate, heavily pregnant and standing by a group of huge paranormals, he rushed towards them without second thoughts. He almost forgot himself and about to grab his mate and haul him into a hug, but he kept himself in check. “May I?” He asked Yukie’s permission when they were only a couple of feet apart. He desperately wanted to hold his mate and kiss him hard, but still asking because he didn’t want to disrespect him in front of his new friends.

“Go ahead.” Yukie replied with a small chuckle glad to see his mate was so excited about him coming home. “But be gentle there’s not much room left for them so if you squeeze or move me to hard they get upset” Yukie added with a small smile the demons chuckling at the sigh of the two lovebirds.

Even before Yukie finished talking, Tiernan had him engulfed in a hug and lifted Yukie off the ground. After a few twirls, Tiernan put Yukie down and cupped his cheeks. “I missed you so much,” he said before kissing his mate with all the desperation he felt while they were away. He could feel the size of the bump between them was slightly bigger than it had been before. After they broke apart, Tiernan knelt on the ground, his face right in front of Yukie’s big belly. “Hello children,” he said, touching the sides of Yukie’s hips. “Your daddy’s here. I’m never going to be away from any of you anymore.” Tiernan kissed the bump and put his head against it, wrapping his arms around Yukie as much as he could.

“I missed you to!” Yukie replied with a heated blush surprised by Tiernan’s displays of affection. Watching as Tiernan got down Yukies face reddened even more as he doted on their children something he hadn’t had since he left.

“Tiernan. While the affection is cute your mate can’t stand for long periods of time. He’s suppose to be on bed rest” the centaur explained not wanting to ruin the moment but well, he knew Yukie was foolish enough not to speak up on this matter.

Tiernan gave a tiny squeeze around Yukie’s waist, not enough to hurt Yukie and the babies before he got up on his legs. Te took Yukie’s hand in his and laced their dingers together. He turned to the centaur and offiered his other hand. “I don’t believe we’ve met. I’m Tiernan McCabe, but you already knew that. Pleased to meet you,” he said to the creature. “Are you coming home with me?” He asked Yukie, looking hopeful. He wanted to take his mate home but he was not sure of the logictics of Yukie’s companions. He had moved to the new house they initially planned to, so they had bigger room now and Tiernan had also started on the nursery for the triplets.

“Yeah if it’s alright with you” Yukie replied a little shyly as he looked back at his friends.

”go on we will catch up with you later on. Besides we have our own houses to unpack and settle down in.” The vampire replied with a small smile as he grabbed the centaurs hand and dragged him off the two quite close.

”okay!” Yukie replied with a smile glad to see his new friends settling in and with a turn looked at Tiernan. “So shall we go home?” Yukie asked with a soft smile excited to be back home and to see his mate again.
