“It’s my fur. Once a year I can ‘shed’ my fur and grow new longer and thicker fur.” Yukie explained as he mentioned to the children who had very thick chinchilla fur. “I had my fur cut very short almost bald and made into a blanket for them. I also shed my chinchilla fur so it’s very pretty now and long” Yukie explained as he watched Tiernan carefully lay Star into the basket.

Tiernan picked up Blue and Sky next and carefully placed them with Star in the middle. "They'll love having their chinchilla parent smell around them," Tiernan commented, glad that it was Yukie's and not someone else's fur. "Maybe if you have enough, we can make a few more blankets to line their cribs in the nursery. That wasy our scents will be around the house in no time," he suggested. 

Once the babies were settled in the basket, Tiernan picked up the unopened sandwich and handed it to Yukie before he continued eating his own. "How often will you need to go hunt?" Tiernan asked. Rownan said Yukie killed a moose earlier, but he wondered if his mate needed to go out frequently because of the new instincts and hormones.

“ I should be fine with blood tablets from now on. The only reason fresh blood was needed was to heal me quicker. Draining a moose defiantly fixed everything with me” Yukie explained feeling back to his old self as he bit into the sandwich. “Mmmh...so good!” Yukie replied tearing into another bite his demon fangs showing through more.”so what’s on the agenda? I mean I feel well enough to work and I won’t start my demon stuff until next week. So I do have time to kill” Yukie added as he helped himself to another sandwich.

Tiernan smiled at his mate eating into the sandwiches. He took a paper napkin and dabbed at the sauce left at the side of Yukie's lips. "Let's take it easy for a few days. Maybe we could start with painting the nursery? Do you have any idea what you want to draw?" Tiernan asked, balling the sandwich wrapper once he was done eating. "I chose gender neutral colors; a little bit or yellow and coral...some pastels as well. I'm not a decorator, but it looks decent." he had chosen furniture that came in a set, so he won't go wrong with that. Also, he had Aidan and Connor's help with it, so it was safe to say the nursery was good enough. "or we could start with the garden out back. You can plant anything you want. In the meantime, maybe you can tell me more about how demons are after they give birth. What I should do and shouldn't...things like that." He only picked up bits and pieces of information from their conversation and what Rownan had told him. Since Yukie was one of a kind, he wanted to know things right from the source itself.

“I’m not sure what I want to draw on the wall I mean I’ve never freely painted a nursery. Granted I did paint for Yue like she wanted but she gave me an idea of what to paint” Yukie admitted with a shrug as he finished his sandwich. “As for the garden I’m going to wait a little bit. So I can really sink some energy into it.” Yukie added excited to show Tiernan what he could do with his expanded powers. “Oh um. I’m not sure. There are species closer to me and being mixed it makes it hard to tell.”

”For chinchillas they like their nests warm and cozy and sleep a lot with their pups. But with the wolf clans their children follow them around as soon as they walk so they only tend to them for a few weeks at most. Course centaurs are completely different their kids are born able to walk and almost toddler size so it’s a whole different ballgame.” Yukie explained as he sat up a touch and stretched out watching the babies a little. “Then there’s the mermaids who carry their children around until their toddlers and can swim quickly. The fae are tricky they seem to leave them in nests and the kids just kinda survive in groups with the elders watching them.”

”Then of course there’s vampires they are more human acting so there pretty normal. And well....for what I am from what Yue told me was I was possessive. I wouldn’t leave her side and refused everyone else for a long time. Apparently I was a difficult baby changing forms kept them on their toes and they didn’t sleep much” Yukie added with a chuckle as he looked at Tiernan.

”I don’t like other males in my territory. Anyone I feel I can fight should probably stay away until the children start showing signs of being more durable if needed.” Yukie explained with a frown not wanting to hurt the other demons but well it was instinct. The babies need to be kept close and if possible in their basket or nest until a month passes at that point they should be able to sit up or at least stay awake better so they can cry if they sense a predator” Yukie added as he sighed. “Honestly I don’t know...I’m not sure because there isn’t another demon like me and those I turn are close but not identical...I don’t know how things work or what is best” Yukie added his voice deeply saddened as he looked down at his pups wishing they could learn Yukies species and know their roots. “I can’t teach them anything about who or what they are and why they act like me” Yukie added as he sighed softly knowing it couldn’t be helped. Gently tucking a blanket around the babies he stopped his eyes turning to the window where a giant Raven sat watching.

"You can draw us, or the babies," Tiernan suggested. He knew Yukie would come up with something, but if his mate didn't feel like painting the wall in the nursery, he wouldn't force him. "If not, I could just use some stencil and paint some patterns over it, no biggie. The paint we used are safe for kids, and it wont take long to dry." Since the babies won't move to nursery until Yukie was sure about them sleeping away from their parents, it didn't matter if the nursery was done or not.

Tiernan listened as Yukie explained about how his different demon forms feel about taking care of their young. "Since you are mostly in your chinchilla form, maybe we can follow that the most," Tiernan said, but keeping in mind that Yukie was showing possessiveness of his vampire side as well. "We'll keep the babies close with at least one of us at a time, and limit the people who cold see them. SO far Yuen and Yue should be fine, since they were here when you were born and they're family. You're fine with Rownan, so he wasn't a threat to our babies to you, and AIdan and Connor because they're humans," he recalled the people who had been in contact with the triplets so far. "You don't seem to be fine with Raven, because he's a demon, so no other demons allowed. That means Star..." Tiernan stopped and remembered something. 

"Did you name our daughter after your ex-mate's name?" Tiernan asked, suddenly recalled about the other pure demon who had someone caused a clash between him and Yukie before. Of course, they were in better working relationship now and Star was seeing someone else, but Yukie had named their daughter the exact same name. "Although I am okay with your current relationship with him, I am not letting our daughter to take his name exactly. So Star would be Starla. It's fine if you keep calling her Star, but in the registration forms, she is Starla McCabe," Tiernan said a matter of factly. It could be seen as a dick move, but he didn't want Star to come one day and say "hey you named your baby girl after your ex mate,". None of the babies were named Tiernan, so they shouldn't be named Star as well. Petty, he knew, but he spent months separated from Yukie, so it was kind of a little revenge.

(Oooh shit I forgot that there even was a star! Totally didn’t intend that but I thought Raven was his ex mate 😓. But looking back Raven is the friend with a baby already dating Hal. God my brain sometimes just gives up on me. if I’m wrong please correct me here. Star is Yukies ex mate and friend he’s vampire demon I believe. And Raven is Hal’s mate? 😬 My bad on being this forgetful usually I’m better put together.)

”I thought it was a pretty name. I forgot it belonged to him. Though he only gets called that as a nickname.” Yukie admitted as he frowned and looked at his daughter. “She needs a better name I don’t want her named after my ex. Think it’s to late to change it to something different like rose or Lilly or even river?” Yukie asked not wanting any reminder of the man he use to love.

”it would be weird having two stars” a voice replied as Star stood on the balcony and knocked lightly holding a small toddler fluff in his arms clearly wanting inside. “I’ll behave I’m just dropping off this one” he added as the child looked back at the two adults his eyes matching Yukies.

((Lolol it's fine. I forgot about it as well, then when I want to mention about the other demons around Yukie, I remembered the ex mate and I checked back our former conversation to confirm his name, it was star! Yeah, Raven is with Hal, Star is with whomever that guy he kissed at Yue's house when Tiernan found out Yukie left))

"Well, Star kinda stick to my memory now but River sounds good or we could go with Stella, you know -- conSTELLAtion." He suggested. They already have Blue Sky, so it would be cool to have something connecting to that. He was relieved that Yukie didn't ant to name their child after his ex as well. That was until the devil himself -- Star showed up with a bundle that had eyes matching to Yukie's. "Oh hell, no," Tiernan blurted out. If they were going to tell him Yukie had sired a child with someone else, Tiernan himself would open the gates of hell. "That better not be your kid with someone other than me, Yukie." Tiernan warned. Yukie wasn't the only one who could throw tantrums and tear people out with his teeth.

“Stella sounds so pretty.” Yukie replied with a smile as he looked at their beautiful daughter. Turning to look at the window Yukie was noticeably alert until he saw the small child.

“Easy lover boy. He was left back at Yukies old home up in the mountains. Honestly he’s lucky he was found at the shrine when he was” Star replied with a frown as he looked at the two and their three kids. “He smells just like Yukie...I know there where a few of him left from back then but not many....seems one couple got hunted down. I couldn’t find much about him other then there was a pair found heading up the mountain with a bag and they didn’t come back down no ones been back up for months.” Star explained having been living at the old demon sanctuary to take in abandoned half demons and find them homes.

”....he does smell...like them” Yukie whispered his voice choking up as he looked at the child. “I kept trying to reach out for any others that may exist but grandfather is persistent. They wouldn’t have come there....unless they where being hunted to death” Yukie whispered his heart breaking as he looked at Tiernan not wanting to abandon the child. “Where there others?” Yukie asked softly wanting to know if there where any more demons of his lineage.

”from what I know there isn’t. Like I said they were careful only one that saw them there was Rownans family. They care for the sanctuary with me. They saw them coming down the mountain and leaving down the darkened road. He was found dirty and covered in their blood” Star explained as he set the child down the toddler looking around confused as he stood in front of the two. “I don’t think they had a chance to find their own safety but they knew about your old home. They searched Yue and Yuens old house for you. After that they went to the mountains they left him and what they could and a set of  instructions that where clear to bring him to a safer place....” Star added as he stood back quietly.  Yukie unsure of what to do as he looked at the child that despite his facial features looked like him as a toddler and to Tiernan.

Tiernan should be relieved that the boy was not Yukie's son, but his heart ached at what had told them. The boy had no one left now and the possible closest kin he had was Yukie. The two of them had just had their triplets, but the idea of rejecting the toddler didn't sit well with Tiernan when they can do something about it. 

"How old do you think he is?" Tiernan asked. He didn't look any bigger than a two year old, but Yukie was a small sized demon despite his powers, so he wondered if the kid was smaller than normal child. Tiernan approached the toddler cautiously. He seemed harmless, but from what Yukie told him about his younger days, he was a violent boy. Tiernan hoped he could keep his face and limbs intact, but he wanted to touch the boy and offer him some safety. "Hey little guy. Aren't you a cute one," Tiernan said, kneeling in front of the boy so they would be at eye level. "My name in Tiernan, do you know your name?" he asked slowly. 

Tiernan reached out to touch the boy's face. He had some similar features to Yukie, especially the eyes. His hair was soft -- a baby hair. The boy was really too young to have his family taken away from him. "Such a sweet boy. Do you want a hug? Come here." Tiernan gestured for him to come into his open arms.

The child looking at Tiernan stepped back a little before smelling him slightly looking at Yukie he looked at Tiernan confused at why he smelled different stepping a little closer he leaned into the gentle touch almost calm and relaxed. Reaching out his arms he snuggled into Tiernan wanting to be held and comforted after his long trip. “Let’s see.” Yukie whispered curious too at how old the child was as he looked at the boy and then opened his mouth showing the child his fangs. “Ah~“ Yukie said with a small show of teeth the small child huffing but copying allowing Yukie to look at the tiny needle like fangs. “Two years. He must have just turned two. His fangs are small enough Yukie added as he smiled and ruffled the child’s hair. “Tiernan a deep warning to you and your humans. Don’t let him bite you or even put his mouth anywhere near you. Fun fact about me....I’m highly venomous when needed. This little guy should be too since he can’t control it, it’s not possible to tell when he will have venom when biting. You should be careful my venom is pretty nasty to deal with” Yukie added as he got up and looked down at the two. 

“kid bit  me upon our meeting...safe to say he’s pretty venomous when upset and angry.” Star added showing the twenty different bite marks on his arms that where swollen and looked rather painful.

”I’ll get you some medicine Yue always carries some in her purse” Yukie added as he pointed at Star. “Stay on the balcony. That’s your safe zone.” Yukie added as he went down the stairs to grab the medicine from Yue.

Tiernan kept his eye on the little demon as his mate went to get the medicine for Star. The little demon looked at him, eyes blinking as if figuring him out. "Now, you don't want to bite me. You see my mate just now? If you bite me, he would be really upset and we don't want that," Tiernan warned. He knew Yukie had warned him about being careful with the bites, but the child was holding onto him like he missed affections, so Tiernan didn't have the heart to push him away.

Tiernan got up, but held the demon child's hand and took him closer to the basket where the triplets lay asleep. "I'm telling you again, don't do anything that would make my Yukie upset. I don't know if I should let you come close to them, but you can still see them from here. Those are mine and Yukie's children. In two years, they'll be just like you," Tiernan pointed at the bundles inside the basket. The little demon's eyes went wide and sparkly. "You like babies? Do you have any other brothers or sister?" Tiernan asked, only to have the little one looked sad. 

"I'm guessing either he lost his siblings too or he didn't have any." He turned to look at Star who were kept to the balcony. "Do you think Yukie would want to adopt him? We had our own three just last night...I wonder if he wanted another one."

“Well I’m not going to throw him out on the street. Also he wouldn’t hurt the babies or make me upset” Yukie replied as he came back and tossed the bottle to Star. “Thank you for the delivery. I expect you to check all the other sanctuaries after you’ve rested tonight. You can stay with the other demons in the guard house” Yukie replied as he simply just shut the balcony doors on Star who changed into a Raven and flew off. “Now then. Can you read or write yet?” Yukie asked the small demon as he got down to his level wanting to know information. The small child shook his head having been learning but not enough to know how to write out words. “Alright can you change forms?” Yukie asked as he looked at the child who shook his head no clinging to Tiernan. “He’s really still just a baby himself.” Yukie replied to Tiernan as he sighed softly. “He won’t bite unless hurt or scared I doubt he has an ounce of aggression. Most likely Star scared him by flying so far with him and treating him like a package.” Yukie added as he looked down at the child. “If he can speak we can find out more....that is most don’t if they are scared...I’d give him two months to settle in” Yukie added as the small child held tightly to Tiernan’s hand not wanting to leave his side because he was warm and smelled nice.

And  I doubt he has an ounce of aggression in him. Most likely Star scared him badly by flying so far with him and treating him like a package needing to be delivered.” Yukie added as he looked down at the child. “If he can speak, we can find out more....that is it might take a while most demons don’t speak if they are scared. I’d give him two months to settle in before asking again” Yukie added as the small child held tightly to Tiernan’s hand not wanting to leave his side because he was warm and smelled nice. “Meanwhile I’ll ask Yue to have Yuen come for a checkup for him and bring some teething toys.” Yukie added as he settled on the bed near the babies the child clinging to Tiernan but not daring to touch their children knowing he wasn’t allowed to.

After Yukie had confirmed that the little demon was too young to hurt him, Tiernan smiled and knelt down again so they cpuld talk face-to-face. “You hear that? Papa Yukie said you’re much too young to hurt me.” He smiled softly, framing the boy’s fave with his big hands. “That means, I can give you a big hug,” he said and opened his arms again. The little demon looked hesitant at first. He glanced at Yukie warily then back to Tiernan who still held his arms open. After a second or two, the toddler fell into Tiernan’s arm and started crying. 

“That’s okay, baby, you’re okay,” Tiernan cooed as he runbed the child’s back. The kid, demon he may be, must be terrified with whatever happened which led them to the present time. “You’re alright. Papa Yukie and I will take care of you from now on. See, we just had babies, so when they’re a little older, the four of you could play.” Tiernan promised. 

He pulled the boy away a little so he could see his face. The boy was still hiccupping from all the crying he did. “Do you know what’s your name? My name is Tiernan. You can call me papa too if you want. And this is my mate, Papa Yukie. Our babies are Blue, Sky and Stella.” He intoduced them one by one so that if the child in his arms remembered his name, or had one, he it would triggered him to tell them. 

He lifted the boy and carried him to the bed, sitting alongside Yukie eho was watching the triplets. He wanted to provide a little love and warmth to him. To such a small child, everyhing must be overwhelming. “He must ha been so scared, and Star carried him like that must have terrified him,” he told Yukie, who would already knew that. “I hope you don’t mind me telling him to call us papa,” he said, since they haven’t even decided what they should refer themselves to to their own children.

“...Val.” The child whispered ever so softly as he waved a very shy hello to the small babies. “....they are small” Val whispered as he looked at Tiernan not sure why they where so much smaller since he hadn’t seen any other demons like him other then his parents since he was born. “...” standing quietly Val looked at the two wiping his eyes a little bit still very sad and upset.

”let’s see...I think I have something you might like Val.” Yukie replied as he went to a small bag he had brought home and tossed beside the door. The bag being a simple carry on item with his souvenirs. Digging around Yukie smiled softly before bringing out a small stuffed shark for the boy to hold. Offering it out Yukie smiled softly as Val took the soft creature and held it tightly in his arms.

Finally the child told them his name. He disn’t know whether that was the full name or only what Val remembered, but at least it was a name he was familiar with. “Yes, they are small because they were only born yesterday,” Tiernan told Val. He wasn’t sure if Val was used to the time concept yet. It may be a little distorted for him since he was by himself for quite some time.

Yukie didn’t comment anything on refereing them as Val’s papa, but Tiernan smiled when Val took the shark plush from Yukie and hugged it. “Are you hungry, Val? Do you want to eat?” He asked. Val immediately touched his stomach as hmit rumbled. Tiernan chuckled then looked at Yukie. “Can we feed him normal human food?” Tiernan asked. He wasn’t sure of Val was supposed to be on a special diet.

“He should be fine eating normal food if he doesn’t like it we can always give him more rare meat and blood as substitute.” Yukie replied as he looked at Val for a moment before smiling. “He really likes you.” Yukie whispered easily reading the child’s mind as he picked up their babies. “Well then why don’t we go down and find him some food and let everyone see the babies too” Yukie added seeming so much more relaxed as he looked at Tiernan waiting to know if it was okay with him.

"I really like him too," he said, kissing the top of the boy's head. He put down the toddler and picked up the baby basket instead. "They'd be surprised seeing Val, but I'm sure you can explain it to them," Tiernan grinned. He thought maybe Yukie was more suitable explaining about Val's condition since Yukie knew they boy's history. IN the meantime, he held the basket in one hand and gave his other hand for Val to hold. "I think I'm falling for him since he looked so much like you." He joked as they walked out of the room. Maybe Tiernan was excited in picturing Yukie as a child so he was taken by Val. 

They went down the stairs and walked into the kitchen. All activities stopped when they spotted Tiernan and his family with the addition of the little demon. "Guys, meet Val. Star just dropped him off and he's going to live with us," he said to the wide-eyes audience. "A toddler and three babies. I'm really surpassing my brothers overnight." he said, putting the basket with the triplets onto the big table.

“Don’t say that to much everyone might think I have a second family” Yukie replied as he chuckled lightly following his family down the stairs.

”oh...wow...he looks just like Yukie.” Yue added with a blush as she gently got down to Vals eye level and smiled softly.

“Almost identical he might end up looking like both of you. Yukie took some of our traits when we adopted him. Despite no biological ties you can see some faint resemblance to us.” Yuen added as he watched Val curiously, surprised by how closely similar Yukies species was when it came to adapting. Looking at Yukie Yuen started asking questions before Yukie put up his hand.

”we can talk later....he’s had a long day and needs to eat” Yukie explained not wanting to talk about what happened in front of Val.

"I don't mind my children take after Yukie. He's the cute one. But I hope some of them will get my height too," Tiernan said, teasing Yukie on his height. He was truly a midget, but Tiernan loved how Yukie fot perfectly in his arms, so he had no complaints. Besides,despite the mini size, Yukie was packed full of powers even Tiernan couldn't surpass. 

Luckily, there were a couple more sandwiches left. Tiernan made a mental note to thank Raven for getting them the food. He picked Val up and set him down on the highchair, took a plate and put a sandwich on it. "Since you already have sharp teeth, I think its no problem for you to eat a sandwich," he said to the boy who looked at the wrapped food. Tiernan picked it up, unwrapped it and cut it in half, so Val's small hand could pick it up. The boy merely looked at it, perhaps it was his first time having such food. Tiernan got a fork and stabbed one of the roast meat and brought it to Val's mouth. "Here, open up."

Val opened his mouth and took the meet. It took him some time to chew and swallow. It looked like he was eating fine. "More," he said to Tiernan who stabbed another piece of meat and fed him. He was really, really fond of Tiernan who seemed to spoil him from the get go.

“I’m average height for my species!” Yukie replied as he stood eating another sandwich glaring lightly at Tiernan. 

“well he’s got an appetite.” Yuen added with a chuckle absolutely fascinated and amused by the small child as he sat and watched him beside Tiernan. “You should start him on blood tablets young. I regret never putting Yukie on them and letting him hunt, it made him picky as he got older” Yuen admitted as he looked at Tiernan.

”still in the room guys” Yukie added helping himself to the fridge to get some juice.

"I hope this one won't throw tantrums like he does," Tiernan said, egging Yukie on. "It's always the cute one, isn't it. They look so innocent with the beautiful eyes, then the cute chinchilla ears, then bam! you have three kids with them and they want to rip your throat out." Tiernan chuckled. He knew he was playing with fire, but seeing Yukie taking the jokes in a stride confirmed that he was in a better mood. 

"Honey, could you grab some juice and the blood pills for Val, please? He could take them after he finish eating," Tiernan asked Yukie while he cut the sandwich bread to smaller pieces and fed the little boy demon. He didn't like it as much as the meat, but he ate them nonetheless. "Well, at least he's eating bread and veggies too." He commented, ruffling the boy's hair. Soon, his little triplets will grow and look like Val too.

“I’m not a child I don’t throw tantrums.” Yukie replied huffing a little as he rolled his eyes. Getting up he went to the cupboard and pulled down a black box containing his blood tablets. Taking out two he went to the sink and filled a cup of water before microwaving it and after a little work he had it in a pouch the child could drink easily from. “Enjoy.” Yukie replied as he handed his to Tiernan and went back to raiding the fridge for snacks.

After Val finished all his sandwich, Tiernan held the the pouch so the little demon could drink it. The boy was hesitant at first, probably because the smell was slightly different from fresh blood, but with Tiernan's encouragement, Val took a tentative sip, then proceeded to drink the whole thing. Once he was done, Tiernan rubbed his hair and went to the sink to wash the pouch.

"Looks like papa Yukie is still hungry. Do you want me to make some steaks?" He asked, wondering what else he could make so Yukie could fill his stomach. Even though he killed a moose, he was probably more tired than satiated from the hunt. "I'm guessing with an adult demon and cour kids, we need to multiply our groceries."
