“He’s fine…just needs to stay cold…if you have a freezer that would be best or an ice bath” Yuen replied as he looked at Yukie and sighed. “I can’t bring him around for at least two hours if I do it’ll send him in shock” Yuen explained as he looked at the doctor. “I can help stitch up Tiernan. Yukies fine for now just keep him cold freezing almost.” Yuen asked as he looked at Declan glad there where humans who loved demons still after all the mess. “Remind me to bully Tiernan into giving you all more vacation time and a bump in pay.” Yuen added as he sighed and smiled a little before grabbing his medical bag.  Taking Yukies hand he felt his pulse for a  moment before sighing in relief that the medicine wasn’t ripping apart his organs. 
 

“I’ll get you his medical files…past and present it would be good for you guys to know my level of care for demons” Yuen admitted glad his son was in good hands.

"Bring a tun in here, we'll get ice," Declan opened the door and barked orders to some people outside. "Tiernan said strictly do not separate them, so we're going to bet the ice bath ready in here," Declan told Yuen.

Once the HQ doctor had hooked Tiernan up on the blood, they checked his hand for the bitemark left by Yukie. "Doesn't seem to need stitches, but well patch him up with strips," said the doctor. "I appreciate you briefing us along with the files. We have other demons here, but none like Yukie, so most of the things we know are speculations. Would be good to have you confirm what the team knows."

"D-damn..." Tiernan grumbled, slowly coming into consciousness. He was still groggy.

"Sir, you need to stay put. The loss of blood makes you lightheaded. You'll be fine after resting for a while.

"Yeah, where's Yukie?" He asked, trying to keep his eyes closed. 

"He's here, sir. We're gonna give him an ice bath as suggested by Dr. Yuen." Declan replied.

“I’ll make sure to get you plenty of my research. I’m teaching some demons to help with the supply for doctors and well I wouldn’t mind sending them here for extra training Yukie can be puzzling.” Yuen explained as he helped move Yukies body in the tub and covered him with water and ice. Taking his wrist he checked his pulse again before relaxing a touch more. Seeing Tiernan come around Yuen was glad the man was alright. “Hey.” Yuen whispered as he gently touched Tiernan’s hand smiling softly.

”don’t worry about Yukie he’s doing alright we are just keeping him asleep for a bit” Yuen explained as he looked back at Yukie who seemed to be relaxing and sleeping peacefully in the cold.

Tiernan nodded weakly at Yukie's father. "We were planning to elope today," Tiernan told the older man. "So close...they already called up for our turn and Yukie had this reaction..." he didn't finish his thoughts. Things were already in the past and he needed to move on. "Yukie's gonna hate his clothes being ruined. Thankfully we still have the rings...the rings...Declan!" He called for the other man.

"Rings' safe, sir." Declan confirmed. 

"And we took wedding photos too, at a studie. It was supposed to be delivered home, but Yukie and I didn't get married, so i don't know if that photo could be considered our wedding photo." He chuckled bemusedly.

“I see, if I would have known I would have given him a softer medicine or figured something else out. I though you both where going to be relaxing. I wasn’t worried about him getting stressed or exhausted.” Yuen admitted as he sat down on a chair beside Tiernan. “This is my fault I should have told you both to take it easier. He was given these before along with a cocktail mix of other things.”

”His body suffered and it took awhile to figure out what was okay and what wasn’t. Granted he doesn’t always tell me how things really react with him so I never really know. I thought he would be okay…he’s been doing so well lately and seems so happy.” Yuen added with a small sigh feeling awful for the turn of events. “I’ll get him set up for  a wellness recovery appointment once you two go home…that way it’s easier for him to deal with what happened.” Yuen explained with a sad smile. “I don’t want him to blame himself it was my mistake” Yuen finished before touching Yukies face his skin as cold as the ice he was in.

"Don't blame yourself, Yuen. You only did what was best for your son." Tiernan comforted the older man. "We both know there are a lot of things we still don't know about Yukie, so don't beat yourself up for it." Tiernan closed his eyes after that and fall back asleep once more. It took them a few hours for the whole bag of blood to be transfused into him. When Tiernan woke up, he was feeling much better. His wound was also cleaned and patched up. 

"I should change my clothes," he said, staring down at himself. The blue vest were unbuttoned and his tie was removed. The white shirt underneath had some blood stain on it. "How long will Yukie stay that way?" he turned to his team of personnel. Tiernan knelt beside the ice tub and touched his mate's cheeks. "Was he hurt?"

“He’s got another hour. I’m playing it safe.” Yuen explained as he looked at the two. “He’s not hurt…physically. Mentally I’m not sure he might still be off afterwards.” Yuen admitted as he stayed in his chair giving them space. “The medicine I put into him is really great but, it’s nasty I wouldn’t use it unless I thought it was more dangerous not to.” Yuen admitted with a frown having the three other vials in his bag.

“His body is in a sort of to explain it it’s kinda like a hibernation state hence the ice. If he wakes up out of it to quickly it will try and reset his body and mass heal. It basically will rip apart his insides to make himself all better since mentally he can’t find what’s wrong. Yu used it on the demons he trained to fight kept them healthy and fit for battle. Wasn’t until later we realized that it was tearing them apart to heal them and mentally destroying them.”

”I don’t ever use it unless he’s as unstable as he was” Yuen whispered as he took Yukies pulse having checked it every ten minutes. “it’s painful if I slip up even a little I could cause him serious pain. Though…I want to send him or at least get him a specialist. From what I gathered he was seeing and hearing things. I need to know what the root of that problem is, it could be as simple as stress to the wrong level of blood pills.” Yuen finished before checking Yukies pulse and grabbing a small vial, he injected the medicine in Yukies arm the demon moving slightly in annoyance. 
 

“he should wake up in a few minutes he’s ready to be awake” Yuen finished before grabbing his phone and stepped out to the hallway to ask for a delivery of medical files and medicine.

"I think you should all leave," Tiernan ordered the rest of his team. Declan and Raphael looked like they were about to object since Tiernan had just woken up but Tiernan held his hand up to tell them he didn't want to her it. "He's my mate. I'll take it from here." He assured them. To be honest, Tiernan wasn't sure how Yukie would react, so he didn't want to overwhelm him with so many people around. 

Tiernan stayed by the tub and held his mate's hand. "Hey love, are you ready to wake up?" he called out gently, waiting for Yukie to slowly stir up and open his yes. "Think happy thoughts, ok. I don't want you to panic." He thought it was better to talk with Yukie about good things while he was waking up, so Yukie didn't wake up with flashbacks of the horrible incident that too place. "I'm right here if you need me." Tiernan gripped his fingers to let Yukie know he was there.

“I can hear you all when I’m out. That shit doesn’t knock me out just makes me unable to move” Yukie groaned as he slowly sat up his body shaking from the cold and how sore he was. “You okay?” Yukie asked refusing to look at Tiernan just yet as he tried to regain his senses. “I think I attacked you…but I’m not sure I don’t remember things right. I bit myself.” Yukie added gently touching his head as his veins showed more under his skin the veins deep black and faint.

”if you can…can you grab me a bucket?” Yukie asked softly his stomach churning from the medicine that was injected in him. Yukie was calmer then before and felt more sane just sick to his stomach and well, he was glad Yuen had stopped him but he wasn’t looking forward to being sick for awhile.

Tiernan got up and immediately look around. There was a clean bedpan, so he grabbed that and handed to Yukie. "I'm sorry you're hurting," he said as he stroke Yukie's hair. "I should have been more aware of your condition. I feel guilty that you had to take those pills because of last night. If I had known we could try something else, I didn't have to...put it in," Tiernan said regrettably. Maybe if he had let fate decide whether Yukie would get pregnant or not rather than make Yukie take the pill, his mate wont experience such side effect. 

"Your dad feels bad about this as well. I know its not his fault, and it's not your fault either. So we should probably take some time to figure out what to do after this," he told Yukie. He hated seeing his mate in a bad condition. As soon as the coast is clear, he was going to take Yukie home. Perhaps Yukie would feel better when he can be with their children.

“Don’t feel bad it’s a fifty fifty chance it would react badly honestly my body is always changing and adjusting so it’s a hit and miss. Some day medicine works other days it doesn’t” Yukie mumbled with a small huff. Groaning a little Yukie gagged and proceeded to vomit the liquid being black and thick. “Ugh. Didn’t think I would ever taste this crap again” Yukie mumbled as he set the bowl down and got out of the bath. Grabbing a blanket off the bed he wrapped himself up.

“I’ll be fine give me some time to work everything out if my system. It’s how I usually deal with things. It’s easily the best thing for me. Granted when we move I’ll be better off if I break down again” Yukie admitted before sitting on the bed feeling drained. “Can we go now please? I want to just go…back home I want to go to bed.” Yukie mumbled with a tiered sigh just wanting to sleep and check in on their family.

Looking so defeated Yukie pulled the blanket closer to his body the fiery spark in his eye barely lit.

Tiernan sympathize with what Yukie was feeling. His mate had to go through so much because of his body. "Hey, it's ok, just relax." Tiernan made a move toward him and wrapped his big frame around Yukie's small body. "I'll take you home to our babies soon. I'm sorry you can't nurse them for now, but at least you could hold them close," He whispered soothingly in Yukie's ear. Tiernan rocked their body a little, attempting to give his mate comfort. After a couple of minutes, he held Yukie's face in his hand and kissed his nose. "I'm going to ask them to get you something proper to wear, then after your dad take a better look at you, we'll go home okay," Tiernan smiled a small smile at his mate. "Why don't you sit on the bed while I bark orders at these people. I'm their boss, so it's a nice perk, don't you think?" Said Tiernan, wanting to make Yukie smile with his statement.

“Heh. Be careful barking orders or some might bite back” Yukie teased with a small smile. Staying put on the bed Yukie watched as his mate left him. Sighing Yukie was grateful for the sliver of isolation. Laying back on the bed Yukie curled up and hid away from the world under his blanket.  Taking a deep breath Yukie sat up in fear smelling Yuen entering the room.

“glad to see your awake” Yuen exclaimed as he walked over only to stop instantly reading how uncomfortable Yukie was. “Easy. I’ve only got this.” Yuen explained as he showed the stethoscope in his hand. “I promise. I’m not going to do anything else other then listen to your heart.” Yuen admitted as he slowly stepped forward and did exactly as promised. “Are you feeling sick? Seeing or hearing things still?” Yuen asked only getting a harsh cold silence from Yukie.

“you shouldn’t speak so freely with him. You know how I hate humans.” Yu replied as he sat across from Yukie on a chair watching the scene unfold between the two.

Sitting in silence Yukie refused to answer Yuen as he tensed at the doctors eyes studying him. “Alright…rest for now. I’ll go get Tiernan and you can go home” Yuen replied with a frown as he went back out of the room and motioned for Tiernan to go outside with him for a moment to talk about Yukie.

"Why is he like that?" Tiernan asked when he stepped outside to talk to Yuen. "He was never like that before, what's with the sudden voices in his head? Was it the drugs?" Tiernan's concern over his mate spiked up. He didn't think Yukie would go violent after drinking blood. His bloodlust should be satisfied. "Will he...will he be a threat to our kids?" Tiernan hated asking that question because he never believed Yukie would harm any of their kid, but if the voices in his head was uncontrollable, Tiernan would rather take him somewhere secluded for a while, at least until the drugs were weaned off.

“When he vanished for four years…it was a mess of drugs and violence. I thought he recovered…but clearly he hasn’t been truthful on how things have been affecting him.” Yuen explained as he sighed and leaned against the wall.  “Honestly I’m cutting him off medical support. No drugs or medicine anymore just blood pills and vitamins. It’s to dangerous to trust what he’s okay with” Yuen explained having thought about his choice long and hard and having no other options it was best for Yukie (this fixes itself when they meet the other demons like Yukie.).

”he should be fine around the kids far as I can tell…I don’t think he will snap like that again but it would be best to have Rownan and Redwood keep and eye on him and be informed. Honestly I’m at a loss if he can’t tell me what’s going on mentally or what he needs I can’t help him. Best I can do is set up some in home therapy appointments with an old friend of mine, he helped out the first time” Yuen explained not wanting to overstep since he knew Yukie would fight him. “At this point give him a week at home to sleep and get the drugs out of his system and let him relax and be with the kids. I’ll keep my phone on alert for your number.” Yuen offered not sure how to treat Yukie anymore.

"Okay, so I'm taking him home," Tiernan sighed. "Thank again for checking up on him. Sometimes I wonder if it would be better if he kills me. Maybe then he'd be able to live without all these issues haunting him, live a normal life and watch the kids grow up." Tiernan let out his frustration. He knew his blood - his life - might alter something inside of Yukie. He hated the fact that his mate had to go through so much and if sacrificing himself would end all of Yukie's suffering, he would. 

"I would appreciate if you'd come check on us in a couple of days. I'll call you if there's any emergency, but still, just come and visit the children as well." He told Yuen. He wondered familiar faces , the good ones, would make Yukie feel better, but he didn't want the house to feel like a confinement.

“It’s not you that’s hurting him it’s just the pain he’s gone through he doesn’t know how to deal with the things he’s seen and done. I’m sure you could understand given your line of work.” Yuen explained watching a few of the demons and humans getting along. “It’s different then how he was raised I mean he changes forms for all we know he could have lived with his father for hundreds of years before we found him. It’s not like we ever really knew his age or when he was born. He could have been reborn thousands of times and grown up like normal there is really no way for me to know just what he’s going through.” Yuen admitted knowing that when it came to his son he was still filling in the blanks.

“Despite that I still try to help him move on..…I’ll make sure to stop by tonight and check up on him and the kids they are due for an appointment.” Yuen replied with a tiered sigh as he picked up his bag and waved goodbye to Tiernan before heading off to his car.

“He seems nice” the demon replied as he stood holding a small bag with food and drinks for Tiernan and Yukie. “I’m sorry for stepping out of line earlier. I mean we’ll just like all the others that work for you.” The demon admitted as he held out the bag for Tiernan to take.

To be honest, Tiernan was tired. Tired of all the demon stuff the conflicts the sets of problems that came with it. He just wanted to live with his family and that his spouse happened to be a demon. Was that too much to ask? He wanted the island community to be sorted out sooner so he could leave the shit to someone else. "Thanks, man, I appreciate it," Tiernan said to the demon and took all the stuff from his hands. "You'll do well with the team, but be sure to ask them what you should and should not say to me." He offered a small smile before turning into the treatment room and faced Yukie.

"Are you good to move?" Tiernan asked his demon mate. "We're going home. I want you to rest. I'll be there by your side." He promised. It looked like saving the fae had to be assigned to someone else. Tiernan felt bad about it when he had promised Kennedy. The man had came to him for help and it felt like he had forsaken him. But his mate needed him, and if not for the gravity of the situation, he would have helped the man getting his mate to safety too.

“I’m fine and ready to be dropped off at home.” Yukie replied as he sat up more and looked at Tiernan. Slipping on some shoes he sat in a borrowed t shirt and pants the clothes a touch big on his frame. “I know you need to go soon so I’m fine with one of the guards taking me home. I mean that man from earlier is still needing you. You said you would help him after things where done with us and I think things are pretty much done.” Yukie admitted with a frown as he looked at Tiernan.
 

“Your not going to abandon him are you?” Yukie asked softly not wanting Tiernan to leave the poor man to fend for himself. “I mean I know I fucked up today but I’m fine to sleep back at home while you take care of things.” Yukie assured Tiernan not wanting to mess anything else up.

"There's no way I'm going to leave you alone," Tiernan said firmly. "It's not that I don't trust you, but I need to be with you because I'm your mate," he told Yukie. It was hard juggling between his job and his family, but Tiernan knew his priorities. "I missed the kids too. I need to stay with my family." Tiernan touched Yukie's cheek and smiled a small smile. 

He felt bad about Kennedy, he did, but there was so much he could do. "My best team will be on the rescue mission. I already went over their plan, and I approved. I trust them to help the fae." He would prefer to do the rescuing himself, but he had more than capable men on the team to execute the mission and they will report to him the outcome. "As long as the fae is saved, I think his mate doesn't care whether I'm on the team or not."

Tiernan led Yukie out of the room and out to the front of the headquarters. Declan and Raphael had people sent his car back to the HQ, so it was in the lobby waiting idly. His two subordinates will follow them home as an escort.

“Would you act the same if it was me” Yukie asked finding Tiernan going back on his promise quite off putting. Turning away he got up refusing to look at his mate as he went and got into the car. Shutting the door behind him he buckled up and promptly ignored Tiernan until they arrived home. Clearly still upset he got out of the car he went inside the house slamming their bedroom door behind him leaving Rownan and Redwood confused. 

“Mmh I’ll make some tea and run a bath” Redwood mumbled finding the atmosphere awkward as he turned on the kettle and let himself into Tiernan and Yukies room ignoring the pillows being thrown at him.

”he’s so cute when angry~” Rownan sang to Val who looked at him and then went back to his puzzle the babies asleep in the crib in the living room and the eldest brother sitting sulking on the couch.

Tiernan  reeled in his anger as they drove home. He had many things he wanted to do but he needed to prioritize his mate. He thought Yukie would understand. Everything he did was Yukie, even the task force. Tiernan was discharged with honor almost three years ago, and was diagnosed with PTSD. But because of Yukie, he went back into that field.

When they got home and Yukie fled to their room, Tiernan followed closely behind. He slammed the door after him, but he found Redwood in the bathroom and spoke clamly to him. "Can you give us some privacy please?" He requested. He didn't wait for Redwood to move, but went straight to Yukie. 

"What the fuck is wrong with you?!" He yelled at his mate in anger for the very first time. They fought before, but not like this. "Of course it wouldn't be the same if it was you. But you're my mate! of course you're my priority. If you're pregnant and locked up in some dungeon I would sacrifice my limbs to save you! Don't you see whatever i do, it's for you! For us!" Tiernan pointed out, seething with every word uttered. "You think I'm not tired of this shit? I am fucking tired of this bullshit! We should've been married by now, but no, we're not because of what happened. Do I blame you? FUCK NO! because I know you couldn't help it. You didn't ask for that body, didn't ask to have whatever conditions you have. So dont you fucking dare throw your tantrum at me, because I put you first before some other poor sod's mate!"

He was glad that their children was still so young that they don't understand what he was yelling, because it was loud. No doubt the rest of the household heard about it.

“Why don’t we take the kids outside?” Rownan mumbled as he gathered the kids up and carried them all out of the house.

”no one asked you to stay! And you don’t have to sacrifice shit for me!” Yukie snapped as he glared back at Tiernan. “I didn’t ask you to do any of this or go back into your line of work…and I didn’t ask you to self sacrifice like you do! I just wanted you to keep your word! I mean the poor man was suffering and scared!”

“I would understand you putting others first because how can you claim to protect others if your always one sided. I mean we can get married tomorrow or the next day it’s not a big deal to me it’s a court wedding it’s not like it has a time limit.” Yukie added his voice low as he stood glaring back at Tiernan with a frown.

"That's what you don't get! I'm not the type of man who leaves his family who clearly need my presence while I got out to save the world. You don't know me enough Yukie, take this time to learn a thing or two about me!" Tiernan retorted. Too many time were stolen between them. They met, they mated, they separated and when they got back, they fought their enemies, and they fought with each other. There was not enough time to understand each other other than when they were in bed. "You could say that you didn't ask me to be here, but what good am I as your mate if I can't be there for you?" Tiernan's words got stuck in his throat. It was so frustrating. He realized he was being selfish asking for the city hall wedding when Yukie wanted a fancy one. But the truth was, he only wanted to keep it between them for a short time, like it was their special secret. 

Tiernan walked into the closet and changed into a set of clothes suitable for combat mission. "There won't be any wedding," he said, feeling defeated in the matter. "Not in the near future at least. I'm leaving for work, so I hope you're happy with that." He grabbed a small duffel bag and grabbed a change of clothes along with a few other necessities. He didn't feel calm going to a mission when his mind was home - it was a suicide mission. But he wasn't going to stay home when his mind was a mess as well.

“You can be there for me just don’t fucking kill yourself for me! Your just as important, what good is sacrificing yourself if it makes me afraid every second I’m going to loose you!” Yukie snapped back angry and frustrated at how stubborn his mate was being. Turning away angry Yukie tried to calm his temper wanting to work things out. “I don’t want to fight with you Tiernan…I just can’t stand by and watch you throw yourself away. Your not the only one fighting for us and our family.” Yukie mumbled as he looked back at Tiernan and sat on the bed.
 

“Tiernan…my family is always something that comes first but if I’m to lead and set an example I can’t go against my promises to help. I worry if you don’t keep your word you won’t have any merit when it comes down to it and the demons that need help won’t trust your or your men to go to for help.” Yukie explained trying hard to get his mate to understand. “….I’m sorry.” Yukie added with a small sigh as he looked away from Tiernan trying to sort out his emotions. “Just…come back home when your ready. I’ll be waiting and we can sort things out better then” Yukie whispered before turning and leaving to take a break outside of the house wanting some fresh air so he could sort out his thoughts and what he wanted with his mate.
