"I am not the only one who is capable of saving them!" Tiernan replied. "I'm just one person Yukie, your mate, our children's father. The task force have many. I know my priorities and what I'm willing to sacrifice!" The more he explained the more frustrated he was. He took a deep breathe in attempt to calm down. "Fine. If I don't come back, the task force will call you. I'm going to day goodbye to the kids." He didn't wait for Yukie to reply and walked out of the room looking for Redwood who had taken the kids. 

Once he found them, Tiernan picked up each one and kissed them, telling them he loved them. "Daddy loves you all," he whispered before he turned to Val and his older brother. "Take care of each other. Listen to the adults," he said and walked to the door. No need to talk to Rownan and Redwood, they know what to do. His guards will know their job as well.

Yukie stopped his hand reaching out at Tiernan’s terrifying words as he went to go after him. Stopping himself Yukie hated how much this fight hurt over a simple disagreement. Yukie was scared…he didn’t want Tiernan to get hurt or do anything dangerous but he couldn’t just strip away the mans freedom and lock him away. He understood Tiernan just wanted to take care of him and that he only thought of his best interests for him and their family, but he was torn. On one hand he wanted to be selfish and keep Tiernan close but on the other hand he was trying to make sure that the couple had the best chance to reunite and well…Tiernan might trust his men to do this but to Yukie they where all still strangers.
 

It wasn’t like he didn’t feel safe with them or hated them it was more that he didn’t know anything about the men that at where always with them. Not only that but from his experience even the most trusted people can turn on you in an instant. Taking a moment Yukie tried to calm himself as he finally made up his mind and walking out of the room. Looking over to the door where Tiernan was he walked up to him and grabbed his mates hand dragging him to the more secluded entryway. Pushing him against the wall he glared at Tiernan.

“You don’t get to leave like that!” Yukie snapped almost yelling at Tiernan his body shaking as he looked at him fully. “You will come back to me I’m not going to get a call from anyone else but you! Even if we fight and don’t agree and things get messed up and ruined between us I still want you to always come home safe to me” Yukie replied tears in his eyes as he hugged Tiernan tightly. “I don’t want to loose you… it would kill me if you got hurt or died” Yukie whispered burying his face into Tiernan’s chest.

Tiernan was still vibrating with anger. He wasn't a very patient man originally and he had given Yukie a lot of leeway for a long time. But he knew that he wasn't being totally fair himself. He knew Yukie had his own fears and Tiernan had his own insecurities as well. He knew he shouldn't leave home without parting properly. He relaxed and finally returned Yukie's hug. He kissed the top of Yukie's head and said calmly, "I will try to wrap things up as soon as possible." He couldn't tell how long the mission would go. It could as well go for days, but Tiernan knew he had a bulletproof strategy in place. Still, he didn't want to be overconfident.

"Wish me luck," he said and pecked Yukie's lips gently. He managed a small smile and headed for the door. 

When he returned to the headquarters, his squad was already set to go. "Sir, I thought you couldn't make it?" Declan was the one who acknowledged his presence. 

Tiernan walked up to them and gave Declan a good slap on the shoulder. "Can't possible let my team down." He said, although he wasn't as spirited as he normally was. He needed to find his calm in order to ace the mission. Someone's life is at stake and he didn't want his incompetence to be the cause for a failed mission. Tiernan than walked over to Dr. Kennedy and offered his hand. "I'm sorry for thinking about getting off the mission, but I will do my best to help rescue your mate." He knew how bad the feeling was to be away from his own mate, so he could understand Kennedy's feelings. The doctor shook his hand and gave him a slight nod.

"Ok, team. Remember all the formations, our strategy. We go in, save the target and annihilate all threats. Everyone copy that?" Tiernan asked.

"Sir, yes sir!" He got his unanimous reply.

Sitting at home Yukie was a touch worried and stressed. Not being able to do much he paced until he tiered himself out before going to the nursery pacing around he sighed and dragged all the pillows and blankets in the house to the triplets room and made himself a bed Rownan watching. “Don’t bother him, it’s best to just let him work it out of his system” Redwood explained as he patted his mates shoulder and continued his rocking of the smaller infant trying to soothe her to sleep. Rownan stayed outside the room having laid down comfortably where he was just watching and listening as Yukie finally crashed hard and slept unresponsive to noise around him.

”….he smells like my mom” the older teen mumbled as he looked at Rownan the boy having cleaned up and dressed in some casual clothes he had carried in his bag. Watching as Val crawled into the nest beside Yukie he frowned as the two slept peacefully beside the crib with the triplets.

”oh does he? In the sense of milk or just general demon type?” Rownan asked the boy who huffed annoyed and settled down on the floor beside the centaur.

”there are more of us. About twenty or so. Last dad knew there was roughly one hundred total. Not as big as the centaur numbers but still decent. They live hidden in caves in the mountains.” He admitted remembering playing with others like him until the hunters caused them all to separate into smaller family packs.

Tiernan led his team through the forest surrounding the mansion where Darra, the pregnant mate of the doctor was taken to. It was safer for them t trek through the forest on foot, so that no one saw them coming, but Tiernan had a few men on his team standby with transportation for when they were leaving. He had about forty men with him, each divided in smaller units and knew what they needed to do. Tiernan already left his thoughts of home, and Yukie. He needed to focus on this mission in order to escape unscathed and return to his family soon. He needed to succeed this plan. There was also Kennedy who was anxiously waiting for his mate to return to him and their unborn child to care for. 

The first team was sent to secure the perimeter. About ten minutes in, someone came over the communication radio and told him that it is safe for the second team to go in. The second team was sent to secure the inside perimeter. It took them roughly twenty minutes when a voice sent the affirmative to Tiernan. The third team was then sent in to take over the mansion and increase the security, which means, all kidnappers were already in custody. Tiernan went in with the fourth team for the rescue. They located the room where Darra was kept in and that was went things went haywire. 

"Don't come in!" An unfamiliar high-pitched voice warned him when Tiernan opened the door to the room where the fae was kept captive. "There's a bomb. If you come in you'd trigger it and we'll blow up in seconds," Darra warned, he was clearly panicked. The fae was tied to a chair with a lot of complicated wires surrounding him and a lot of strings was cris-crossed all over the room. 

Suddenly Tiernan was taken back to when he was in the Marines. His squad blown to pieces and he barely made it out alive. The nightmares he finally outlived after he dedicated his life to Yukie came rushing back. His hands were suddenly clammy, cold sweat drenched his neck. He knew how to detonate a bomb, but there was always risk getting it wrong. He could blow the whole house out with all forty of his men inside, then the pregnant fae and then himself. Tiernan closed his eyes. all he could see behind closed lids are Yukie and his children. He promised them he would go home, but he also promised Kennedy he would save his mate.

"Everyone, clear the building," He commanded. 

Declan who was with him stepped forward in concern. "But sir, it's to risky." 

"Clear. The. Building." He stressed each word sternly. Declan knew not to argue. Once all the men were outside and confirmed through the radio, Tiernan took a deep breath and said. "Here goes nothing."

“I see” Rownan replied as he handed the boy some tea and settled down beside him amused. 

“yeah, it’s been awhile since we’ve seen others of our kind. Honestly we aren’t sure how many are hidden or actually gone.” He mumbled sipping the tea with a sigh. “Do they fight a lot?” The boy asked with a frown not use to seeing arguing.

”mmh some days like cats and dogs, they are really sweet and good together I think they are just hitting rough bumps in their relationship. Redwood added with a small chuckle. “Honestly they haven’t even hit their one year anniversary” Redwood admitted as he sat down also helping himself to a warm drink as rain started to fall outside.

Tiernan managed to make his way around the lines and wires around the room to get to Darra without triggering anything. But that didn't say they were out of the woods yet. One wrong move and they would both be a goner. Tiernan didn't have much faith in himself, but he didn't want Darra to know that. He was under emough stress from being kidnapped and worrying about his unborn child and probably his mate. "Hey, my name is Tiernan McCabe. Kennedy sent me here," he said as a way of introducing himself.

At the menton of his mate's name, Darra looked up at Tiernan, his sobbing ceased. "Kennedy sent you?" He repeated.

"Yeah, I'm with the Paranormal Task Force. He asked for my help to cave you and here I am." Tiernan finally reached Darra and squatted down to inspect the wires around the pregnant fae. He told himself he was trained in this, but there was always risk when trying to detonate a bomb. His hand was shaking as he took out a special cutter from his utility vest. His forehead was sweat dampened and his nightmares were coming alive. "How long have you been mated?" he asked, distracting Darra from what he was doing. At least if they explode, the last thing the fae would remember was his mate. 

"A-about a year," said the fae. 

"That's way longer than me and my mate. We haven't even hit the half year mark yet," Tiernan chuckled dryly as he followed the wires to its source. He studied how the bomb was strapped to Darra and how quickly he could get it off him. "Listen Darra, I'm going to be honest with you. The best case scenario is, we'll have a few seconds to get rid of the bomb and get you out of this place. I'm not even going to say what's the worse case scenario is. So work with me. When I say jump, you jump without hesitation. You hear me?"

Darra was obviously confuse but he nodded. Tiernan pressed a button on his earpiece to talk. "Declan, I'm counting on you," Tiernan relayed his messaged.

"Copy that, sir. We have your back. We'll see you soon." Came the response from Declan.

"Wish me luck, Darra." Tiernan looked up at the fae's violet eyes as his finger clamped on the cutter. There was a few seconds of silence before a beeping sound followed suit is a rapid manner. Tiernan stripped the bomb away from the fae, helped him up and grabbed the chair Darra was sitting on. "The window!" He directed before picking up the chair and broke the only window in the room. The beeping had increased and he knew they had mere seconds. He lifted Darra to the window and told him "JUMP!" 

The fairy did so with eyes closed. It wasn't a tall building, but he was anticipating a hard impact. But when he opened his eyes, he had landed on something akin to an air mattress. 

"Clear!" Declan shouted as a few men helped Darra down from the Rescue Air Cushion. He looked up at the window Darra jumped from. "Tiernan...sir! hurry up!"

Tiernan was still climbing the window when he heard the last beep and the bomb went off.

“Pretty cold outside.” Rownan mumbled as the wind howled. “I’ll turn up the heat last thing we want is Yukie getting sick.” Rownan admitted more to himself as he got up and left turning the heat up and returning with snacks.

”did you ever go to school?” Redwood asked the boy who shrugged.

“We where always busy running but at night mom would teach me some basics. I can read and write well enough.” Finn (I don’t remember if we named him) admitted as he continued sipping his drink and helped himself to a snack.

The new dawn came as the mansion burned down to ashes. All the suspects involved in the kidnapping was taken into the Task Force's custody. Darra was brought back to the headquarters where he was reunited with his mate. But instead of Tiernan, it was Declan who escorted them.

"Where is Tiernan?" Asked the doctor. 

"He can't make it."

"Oh, no, did --"

"No, no, no," Declan realized how his reply sounded worse than he meant. "He's indisposed at the moment. There was an explosion." 

"Is there anything I can help?" Kennedy offered. Afterall, he was a doctor. And if Tiernan needed medical attention, it was within his capacity to help. 

"Thank you," replied Declan. "We will let you know if we need your help. Please stay here for now. If you need anything, just ask anyone and they'll get them for you and your mate."

Yukie waking up walked out of the nursery his body more rested and settled. As he wandered he looked at the three in the living room before helping himself to a cup of tea in silence. Sitting down he finally spoke. “Tiernan still isn’t back?” Yukie asked with a sigh having not revived a message or any news yet of his mate. While he tried to trust Tiernan was safe he was worried things had gone wrong.

”we haven’t heard anything” redwood admitted as he offered Yukie a cookie to eat the demon accepting.

“Don’t worry he should be fine” Rownan reassured Yukie with a small smile not wanting him to worry to the point of getting sick.

Tiernan opened his eyes and groaned. He remembered being blasted from the window ledge instead of jumping down on his own. His hair and clothes were singed from the fire from the explosion. Some shrapnel sliced the uncovered skin on his arms, left cheek. His shoulder was dislocated, but overall, he couldn't ask for anything better than this. He was still alive and breathing with minor injuries and could still go home. 

Soon.

Right now he was a bit sore all over. He guessed that his shoulder was put back together by the in-house doctors. looks like his cuts and scratches were patched up. His ears were still ringing from the explosion, and he bet that once he opened his mouth, what he talk was his normal volume would sound like he was shouting to other people. Once his bearing was back to normal, he'd go home.

Declan drove Tiernan home. He told them he was well enough to drive his car, but they insisted. He was hungry and hoped Rownan or Redwood or Yukie cooked something. He wanted to call but it seemed like his phone was a gone case when it fell out of his pocket during the explosion. 

"Since you're here, why not come inside and get something to drink," Tiernan told Declan. The younger man nodded and followed him to the front step. Tiernan opened the door and called out, "I'm home."

Yukie was instantly on his feet and sprang out of the room his arms wrapping tightly around Tiernan’s chest as he held onto him. Standing in his chinchilla form Yukies ears laid flat against his head as his tail wrapped around Tiernan’s leg tightly. Suddenly freezing in place Yukie sniffed his mates chest smelling the blood under the bandages. “Welcome back! Food is almost done. And there’s drinks in the fridge.” Redwood explained as he held Vlad (  I think if I’m wrong correct me he’s the younger brother I forgot his name). Finn peeking in was holding the triplets and his sister in baby slings having adjusted them to how the elders in his clan carried multiple children when they split up for safety. Looking up at Redwood Finn hid behind him a little shy.

Tiernan pressed a soft kiss on Yukie's head, inhaling the scent of home that he missed after a dangerous mission. "Sorry I got held back for a while. Had to stay until they patch me up a bit," he told Yukie in a casual manner, not wanting his mate to worry. "I invited Declan in for a drink since he drove me home," he turned to Rownan. "You guys mind taking him to the kitchen and let him have any drink he wants while I go change?" He told Declan to make himself at home. Tiernan went to kiss and pat the kids before making his way to the bedroom, pulling Yukie along with him. "I need you to help me redress the bandage." He wanted to envelop Yukie's chinchilla form in a tight hug for a while.

“…there shouldn’t be any bandages to redress.” Yukie mumbled angry his mate was hurt in the process but also worried about the extent of his mates wounds. Once they where alone in their room he looked at Tiernan. “If you can strip for me. I’ll get my medical bag” Yukie added as he went to the small closet in their room and unlocked it opening the door the closet was packed full of various medical supplies and medicine. “Yuen is traveling for the next few months so he stocked a medical cabinet for me” Yukie explained as he pulled the stuff he needed.

"Can't complain about getting hurt. It's normal occupational hazard," Tiernan replied as he undressed. The doctors at the headquarters had patched him up, but Tiernan felt grimy and his muscles are tense, so he wanted a quick clean up. "I'm going to run a quick shower, then you can dress up any wound you find on me. Honestly, there aren't that many, so stop fretting." He walked over to Yukie and playfully nibbled on his chinchilla ear. "I'm sorry for my outburst before I left. I'm happy to be home with you now." he whispered then went into the bathroom and turned the water until it was the right temperature.

“I’m sorry also. I think in the moment we both got heated.” Yukie admitted feeling bad for their fight. Blushing at Tiernan’s teasing so his ear Yukie looked away in embarrassment enjoying the attention but also shy about the teasing. Moving away he sat on the bed he watched as Tiernan who had left to go shower. Settling down more Yukie sighed his body feeling it’s own mental exhaustion from worrying so much about his mate while he was gone.

The shower was hot, but not scalding. It didn't matter because it still stung the scrapes and cuts on his body. Nothing Tiernan couldn't handle. He sighed under the water. That was one mission done, now he had another pressing matter to attend to, but since everyone was home, maybe he could take a little nap. Finn was there, Vlad was there, the baby girl too, so what's the rush. No one was attacking them and even if it did, Declan could handle them for a bit while Tiernan had a shut eye. 

Once he felt clean, Tiernan grabbed the towel, dried himself half-heartedly and wrapped the terry cloth around his waist before stepping out of the bathroom. Yukie was there, waiting, and he smiled at his mate in the adorable form. Still his mate and not his husband. He sighed inwardly. He wanted to elope again, but somehow the surprise elements were gone. Tiernan approached Yukie and sat beside him. "Now be my good personal nurse and dress my battle wounds," he said, trying to sound unbothered.

“After I do that….can I show you a surprise?” Yukie asked softly not sure if he should go forward with his surprise wedding plans. “If your to tiered I can show you tomorrow but….well you have to get dressed with a blindfold so I don’t ruin the surprise.” Yukie explained having during Tiernan’s time away planned and prepared a beautiful wedding for them in the gardens where their new home was going to be. Having been working with it via text he had finished everything so he could surprise Tiernan when the time was right. “I had help making this though.” Yukie admitted his ears back as he sat embarrassed and shy and clearly very nervous as his tail swished softly back and forth.

Tiernan put on his shirt and jeans after the wounds was redressed and stood up. "I've already slept all morning, so let's see this surprise of yours," he smiled as he took Yukie's hand and lead him back downstairs. "What kind of surprise did you need help with and why do I need to be blindfolded." At the moment his eyes were not yet covered, but he brought along a bandana and handed it to Yukie to blindfold him later. In the kitchen, he found Declan talking with the others while having a glass of drink. "Yukie has a surprise for me, " he said to them. "Did you guys knew anything about it?" he looked at the centaur couple.

“If I do I’m not allowed to tell. Last thing I want is to be on Yukies bad side” Rownan replied with a smirk as he sipped his drink.

”Considering we basically helped everything and pulled strings to help I think we can both lie to you a little longer.” Redwood replied with a equally smug smirk as he offered Declan another drink planning on letting him in on the secret once Yukie and Tiernan had left to go to the first meeting spot. 

“Tiernan we need to get going, last thing I want is to run late on my plans” Yukie added as he smiled happily excited to surprise his mate. Standing in the doorway Yue smiled at the two holding the car keys.

”ready?” Yue asked curiously having offered to drive since Yukie couldn’t.

Tiernan put his arm around Yukie's shoulder and slowed him down. "Don't move too fast, my sides still hurt," he said, although he wasn't in pain, he just wanted to be spoiled a little bit. After they got into the car, Tiernan asked, "why don't you give me a little hint about the surprised. You know I like to be prepared. surprises make me nervous," he said with a smile. He knew there was nothing to be worried about since this was Yukie's idea, but as someone with a military background, surprises didn't usually mean a good thing.

Slowing down Yukie nodded and let Tiernan move a little slower. Once in the car he nodded to Yue to drive them his mum already knowing Yukies full plans. “Mmh alright I can give you a tiny hint” Yukie replied as he sat and deeply thought about what to tell Tiernan. While the road continued Yukie was glad that the windows where blacked out so Tiernan couldn’t see where they where going. “It’s in a garden.” Yukie offered only giving that slight info to keep his plans hidden.

-meanwhile-

“alright they should be heading on the scenic route and should end up there in a half an hour” Redwood explained as he looked at Declan Rownan already coming back with the kids dressed and ready to leave. “I need you to dress up nice and get all of Tiernan’s men and old friends to dress up and be seated for the wedding.” Redwood explained a touch more Yukie having pulled many strings and favors to get a wedding set up over the last (two?) days. Having called in friends and family they had tirelessly worked to set up the full wedding experience for the two including a week away for a honeymoon. “Yukies asked a lot of favors from demons all over to help. We need to follow the plan as close as possible while keeping Tiernan in the dark.” Redwood finished as he smiled warmly.

Once he was blindfolded, Tiernan's senses were heightened. He noticed every turns they took and felt like they were very familiar and almost like they were ging in circle. He thought Yue and Yukie was just going for the scenic route, despite him unable to see the view, but it didn't matter to him. "Will there be food?" Tiernan asked in good spirits. "I'm a little hungry." He hadn't had anything since he woke up after the explosion and he didn't have the appetite back in the headquarters. Only when he reached home and saw the faces of his family that Tiernan was finally able to relax.

In the meantime, Declan who was roped by Redwood and Rownan contacted some people that Tiernan was close to, as well as him family members. Aidan was still in the hospital, but he got permission to leave for a short time. "Something like this should be informed sooner," Declan grumbled as he dialed another number. Although his commanding officer hated surprises, it was his initial idea about eloping, now Yukie took that idea and turned it into an express wedding.

“Yeah we planned a dinner and dessert.” Yukie answered with a small chuckle as he started to undress and dress in a nice suit once it was clear Tiernan couldn’t see him. “Just keep the blindfold on and trust me.” Yukie replied a little breathless as he continued getting changed into a base kimono the rest being where he would finish getting ready. Since the suit he had picked out had been destroyed he had reached out and had the spiders fix up and send him his wedding kimono. Once done he took a moment to breathe the dressing struggle having been exhausting.

“Fifteen more minutes until we are at the place.” Yue warned Yukie with a smile to make sure he was prepared. While they had all gone crazy busy to prepare for such an event Yue was excited for the two.
 

-(Redwood & Rownan)-

“hey don’t blame us we’re only doing as asked.” Redwood admitted knowing that Yukie had gone crazy with everything and planned to the tiniest detail.

“Yukie  just explain it as something that it was something he had to make right.” Rownan explained knowing it would put everyone on the spot meeting together but well. Yukie had been planning to use the garden anyway for their big wedding. “But it’s best we start to leave, we all need to get dressed” Rownan explained knowing Yukie had outfits for the kids made.

There was movement in the car, and even with the blindfold, Tiernan could tell that Yukie was changing his clothes. He wondered why there was a need for him to change since they were only going to the garden, but he didn't say anything. He knew Yukie liked to dress up, so if that makes Yukie happy, then why not. Maybe he had planned a little date for them or something, so that's why he wanted to dress in something nicer. 

"I'm really curious what's going on here," he had to mention after Yue had told them they were arriving in fifteen minutes. He was still tired from the mission, but thinking how Yukie had planned for something nice, made his fatigue go away a little.

While back at home, Declan was roped into following the others. "Lucky you that my uniform suit is in the HQ," he said after he ended his call to Raphael. The only good suit he had was the uniform suit and it was back in the HQ in his locker, so he had Raphael bring them for him. "I'll tell you this beforehand, I'm not going to be the flower-boy." He warned.
