It was the first week of summer in Japan. I, Rin Takahashi, just finished my senior year of highschool. I moved into an apartment builing with an classmate and friend by the name of Kai. I asked him if he wanted to take on the real world with me at our own pace by being my room mate. So, thats where we are now. We got our parents' premission and advice on an apartment location. We are crrently movng our beds into our rented apartment. My clothes are packed in suit cases in Kai's car. Those will be the last things we move in. I supervise the builing of my bed frame and placedment of my matress. Our parents were kind enough to spend their money on furnishings for our living room. The couch is being moved in now as I can see from the bedrooms hallway. The movers leave my room and I fall onto my bed. I allow Kai to direct the movers with the rest of our belongings as I rest. I havent done anything and yet I have an warm and wet forehead and sore throat. I dont want to move from my bed. I zone out the sound of Kai's voice as I close my eyes for an nap.

Did you start to put your clothes in the closet?“ Kai didn’t receive any answer so after he knock on Rin’s room door he entered. “So you are sleeping” he thought and went to his own room. He started to arrange his things, then his clothes and after that he went to put his things into the bathroom. After he finished he went into the kitchen and look into the fridge. It was full of food. “Our mothers give us a lot of food. Are they afraid we will starve?” he said loud and laughed. After taking a juice he lay on the living room couch and smiled “I am finally living on my own. I’m sure Rin and I will do well” he thought but soon he fell asleep.

A few hours had passed since the young adult males went to sleep from exhaustion. I woke up and left my bedroom. My nose is dripping shot and I feel hot. I go into the kitchen and raid the cabnits for cold medicine. I find cough syrup and an normal fever reducer. I take the pill with an half bottle of water from the fridge then take the cough medicine. On my way back to my room, I stop in the living room to get some tissue to blow my nose. I notice Kai is sleeping peacefully on the couch. I place my hand on his shoulder, determined to wake him up and get him to go to his room. I shake him, gently and call out his name an few times until he opens his green eyes.

“Oh Rin you woke up before me” Kai said and smiled “It’s late. I will prepare the dinner for us”. He jumped from the couch and wanted to go into the kitchen but he saw the tissues from Rin’s hand. He stopped and asked “Are you cold or something?” Rin nodded and Kai put his hand on Rin’s forehead. “You have a fever. Run to your bed. I will take your food there and a cup of tea”. Rin ran to his room while Kai went into the kitchen. He put the food and the tea on fire. After all was done he put Rin’s food on a plate and a cup of tea and went into his room. Rin was in his bed almost asleep. “You can sleep after you eat. I must do your bed anyway.” Kai said and started to feed Rin. After that he did the bed. “The bed is ready Rin. Let me search some pyjamas for you” Kai said and looked into Rin’s suitcase. He found that he needed and helped Rin get dressed. Rin lay on his bed and after Kai covered him with a blanket he went to eat his dinner and later into his room to sleep.

He didn’t say a word just took the dishes and came back to kitchen. He prepared the tea and washed the dishes. He didn’t put any sugar on it and went to gave it to Rin. He put the cup on bed table. “When you will recover you will do all house job don’t worry. Enjoy your movie” Kai said and left into his room. There he dressed in jeans and a blue t-shirt and took his car keys. And without saying anything to Rin he left the flat.

"Wait Kai! That's not fair!" During my yelling, I began coughing intensily. An coughing fit, just what I needed. "You'll do the cooking, I'll do the dish washing and we both take turns washing the bathroom and vaccuming. Deal?" My eyebrows raised as I looked at the other.
