“Ah, a Concubine.” Yukie replied with a laugh as he covered his mouth holding back his laughter as he was trying to not make Myles feel uncomfortable. “Yes I’ve heard of it now. Trust me you’re not that…I don’t need to pay you to be around I want you to be around me because you want to.” Yukie explained as he sighed amused and relaxed. “I’m paying because it’s my idea and I would like to treat you to a nice vacation it’s my way of saying thanks for caring for the kids for so long.” Yukie admitted as he felt a little shy admitting he was trying to really show his thanks. “Plus…I don’t want to be away from you back home again.” Yukie mumbled his face burning as he moved and grabbed the kids bags. “Either way you don’t have to decide yet take some time and read over everything and you can let me know if you wanna go.” Yukie offered busying himself with the bags to keep from feeling awkward.

Concubine? Did i mistranslate... In English??

Myles makes a mental note to look that up later. "I mean I haven't got much time to think on it .... " The red head sighs. His own face now a burning red that could match his own hair. "I'll ..... I'll have answer for you by tomorrow evening." Myles promises.

Myles waves as they all head out for the weekend... A trip out of the country? That's ... Intimidating to say the least... But his instincts to go and keep an eye on the boys is battling with his worries of being lost or trapped in a foreign country. Keeping his boys safe has him leaning more towards going.... Yukie putting in so much effort for him goes a long ways as well..... But .... Also .... I don't want to be away from you ... Myles groans as he covers his flushing face. Little fucking shit doesn't even realize what saying that does to the older man. It makes his insides squirm and warm up in the most sickening but sweetest way.

Though that quickly changed when he looked up what a concubine really was and left a colorfully embarrassed text message to Yukie

Yukie heading back home had his weekend with the kids giving Myles time to himself as he took the kids off to the zoo for the weekend. Taichi kept up behind him observing, but giving Yukie space to do his own thing just watching a little from the background to make sure he wasn’t overwhelmed. The three had quite a trip and once home, it was late Saturday night the kids of course were asleep right after bath time leaving Yukie time to focus on work. Humming softly as he worked Yukie worked late into the night his new series being published in two days and causing quite the time crunch. At five am Sunday morning he got a message he was needed at the printing company to go over his work and meet with the editor. Letting out a groan Yukie got up and fed the kids before loading them and his supplies into the car for their quick trip leaving Taichi home promising he would be back in four hours. By the time he had finished things it was late Sunday evening and Yukie was groggy from the intensive day of work and childcare. Looking at the sky as the rain started pouring down and the sky darkening Yukie made his choice and carried the kids into a hotel. Once in their room he turned on the tv to distract the kids.

Picking up his phone next he called Myles instantly apologizing and explaining he would be unable to take the kids home tonight. Yukie was exhausted and didn’t feel driving two cities over in his exhaustion state with the weather was safe since he was still quite new to driving. “I went without Taichi…it was only a four hour round trip, but I got stuck with work and then Tama got sick…it’s raining so hard” Yukie explained as a loud snap thunder  old be heard making the man cringe as he shut the blinds and curtain's.

Hearing the delay, Myles wasn't pleased but he doesn't want the kids and Yukie on the road in harsh weather either. Especially not with Tama getting sick. "Yea I kinda figured you wouldn't make it back. I was watching the weather so I assumed you'd be staying in. Though I don't exactly feel comfortable with you driving alone with the children.... " Myles scowls a little despite Yukie unable to see that scowl. "But I'll let it slide for tonight and I'll be out of work and home by 5:30 so I expect you all to be here and waiting by then do you understand? I'll leave you a spare key to get in under the lid of the mail slot so you can get in." Myles explains as he sets up the key. He pauses a moment. "So i thought about your .... Invitation.... I'll go with you. But I will pay for anything I'll while in Japan, understood? You've already paid enough so I can handle everything else myself." Myles was going to set hard boundaries now. "This a co-parenting bonding trip, ok? No funny business." If he didn't set that boundary now who knows what he'd let Yukie get away with.

“I know I sent Tachi on a few errands….while I was away he thought a short trip to fix my work would be easy enough. He’s been giving me more space.” Yukie explained as he looked down at the kids Haru looking back as he could hear Myles. “Thank you for giving me a chance. I’ll make sure they are home on time safe and sound.” Yukie promised as he sighed in relief sinking into the bed. Grabbing some water from the fridge Yukie opened it and took a sip only to choke when Myles agreed to go. Take a minute to breathe he couldn’t hide the excitement in his voice. “Of course! I’ll be on my best behavior.” Yukie promised only to feel Haru’s hands on his leg.

”Mama….” Haru whimpered his eyes filling with tears as he looked at Yukie.

“….Haru wants to talk to you.” Yukie quickly stated as he handed the phone to Haru the boy breaking down at the though of not getting his snuggles from Myles tonight something Yukie had been dealing with for awhile from the kids since their co parenting wasn’t exactly easy. Haru struggled to sleep away from Myles and Tama often got fussy also the two preferring Myles over Yukie who was still somewhat of a stranger to them.

”Mama….” Haru hiccuped before breaking fully down on the floor just lying there crying and melting down like always.

Hearing the choking on the other end Myles admittedly tried his best not to snicker. "Don't get too excited now."

Hearing Haru's little voice, Myles already knew the boy was gonna blow a fit. Once he heard Haru start crying, Myles heaved a sigh. He suspected the boys didn't sleep the greatest when they were with Yukie but he didn't think it would be this bad. "Hey~ hey hey little man what's wrong? What are you crying for? I'm right here waiting for you both to come home~! There's no need to cry~" Myles cooed gently. He knew there was a slim chance of either boy getting to sleep if he wasn't there. He was blessed to say most nights the boys went to bed pretty easily for him, minus the occasional overtired ness or just a long day of either boy getting sick or just plain too excitable. He does his best to talk Haru down from his meltdown over the phone. "Little man I know you miss Mama and mama misses you to, but promise I will meet you both back home when I come from work. But what can Mama do to help you get to sleep tonight?"

Myles is patient and as gentle as he can be. But he knows he'll need to nip Haru's dependency on him in the butt soon. The boy would be old enough for school in just two years and what would happen if Myles wasn't there?

"Do you want a song to help you sleep tonight?" God he hasn't actually sang in years he honestly expects his voice to be shot at his age. But it's the best he could think to do. He had packed the boys favorite stories as of late so Yukie could have at least something to bond with and help get them to bed.

“Y-yes a pretty one.” Haru added with a small voice that was more tiered now that he had actually started talking to Myles.

”let me put Mama on speaker and you can lay down.” Yukie offered as he quickly tucked Haru into bed and then put it on speaker while walking around the room to rock Tama. “Haru is in bed now.” Yukie told Myles the man just shushing a fussy and angry Tama who grumbled and made cute growling noises at the fact he wasn’t at home.

"W-wait a minute now!! I-I didn't agree to an audience!!" Myles panics a little. Kids are easily agreeable and he knew they'd think anything he spewed would sound nice. After all this was just meant to keep them calm. With a sigh, Myles starts off, "if I hear a single snicker, I will rescind my agreement to your earlier invitation, you understand?" The red head threatens.

A deep breathe, smooth exhale, and gently, Myles sang an old song he heard from another many years ago:

Sleep oh babe, for the red bee hums the silent twilight's fall, Aoibheall from the grey rock comes, to wrap the world in thrall. A leanbhan oh, my child, my joy, my love, my heart's desire, The crickets sing you lullaby, beside the dying fire. Dusk is drawn and the Green Man's thorn is wreathed in rings of fog, Siabhra sails his boat till morn, upon the Starry Bog. A leanbhan oh, the pale half-moon hath brimmed her cusp in dew, And weeps to hear the sad sleep-tune, I sing, oh love, to you. Faintly sweet doth the chapel bell, ring o'er the valley dim, Tearmann's peasant voices swell, in fragrant evening hymn. A leanbhan oh, the low bell rings, my little lamb to rest, And angel-dreams till morning sings, its music in your head. Sleep oh babe, for the red bee hums the silent twilight's fall, Aoibheall from the grey rock comes, to wrap the world in thrall. A leanbhan oh, my child, my joy, my love, my heart's desire, The crickets sing you lullaby, beside the dying fire. The crickets sing you lullaby, beside the dying fire.

The song ends quietly. Myles waits listening for any more noise hoping it helped settle the boys in for the night. He whisper out, "Yukie .... Did they calm down?"

“You have the voice of an angel.” Yukie whispered as he settled Tama down the boys both out cold once Myles started singing to them. “I’ve never heard such a beautiful voice. The kids went to sleep so peacefully it’s no wonder why they sleep well at your house and prefer home.” Yukie added as he settled down on the bed wishing he had recorded such a beautiful performance. “They usually take hours to settle hell sometimes I have to carry Tama around all night. This is the first time they’ve slept before midnight.” Yukie admitted feeling awful that he couldn’t get them to sleep so easily. “I’ve…been considering just having them stay with you and visiting on the weekends. They aren’t coping well being with me. I’m hoping this trip fixes it…but if not would you be fine with me just visiting on the weekend?” Yukie asked as he laid back on the bed his voice drowsy.

"Please, I haven't sang in years that sounded like a cricket trying to out match a rusted chainsaw.... But thanks all the same." Myles was immensely grateful this wasn't a video call or Yukie would be treated to his red blushing face on screen.

Hearing Yukie's concerns of the boys having hard times being comfortable, Myles is a little apprehensive. "Well Yukie of course they'll be a little uncomfortable.... You've only just come back into their lives again. The whole point of you taking them for the weekend is so you can reestablish that bond without my influence .... And Haru needs to gain some independence from me .... He seems extremely attached and down the road when they go to school he's gonna need to be able to socialize with others...." Myles explains. Another short sigh. "Let's see what happens after the trip.... Maybe having a ...." The red head hesitates "family vacation together will make it a little easier ... And then we'll try it as we've been doing for a little bit and if it still doesn't work, we can figure something out from then... Sound like a plan?"

“I’d like that it’s just lately I’m finding it hard to reconnect with them Haru isn’t exactly a fan of me so he’s extra difficult and angry. I can’t really do anything because he has a right to be angry at me.” Yukie mumbled not having been able to really redirect or fix that issue since everyone lately was mad at him so how could he parent Haru to get him to stop when they all where right to be angry. “They both have grown and changed so much. It’s hard to figure out what to do…you were always better at it than me even when I brought them home.” Yukie added with a tiered sigh. “Myles, I’m tiered.” Yukie whispered hardly staying awake as he watched the kids sleeping.

"I know dear ... I know. Listen just get some sleep, I'll see you all tomorrow and we sit and chat for a little while and figure out some plans and things to pack for the trip ok? I'll see you all tomorrow when i get home from work... G'night"

It's after Myles hangs up the phone when he realizes what he called Yukie. Shit! He feels maybe that he should've watched what he said.  Well.... There isn't much he can do about it now. It's just ... They really were co parenting and it just seems to have .... Come out without him really thinking about it. He spares himself a thought... Of things finally working out and they all were a little family ..... The image was warming.... Myles sighs, rubbing a hand down his face as he goes to settle into bed for the night. He'll worry about it all tomorrow .

Early morning Yukie woke to a nice sunny sky and after cleaning up the kids and getting them ready for the day he ushered them off to a nice breakfast restaurant. Holding Tama he ate in silence as the child chewed on a melon slice. Yukie couldn’t help the words Myles had said last night calling him dear. It made Yukie blush after the phone call and now. “Why would he call me something like that.” Yukie mumbled as he tried to calm down his heart and red face so he could pay the bill. Once they were fed they started to head home only to get stuck in traffic for an extra hour. Eventually arriving at Myles house, Yukie took the key out and let himself in settling the kids down he ordered dinner and laid on the floor watching the kids play with toys.

The work day seemed to drag as Myles went about the office. His demeanour was nearly back to it's old self before the whole debacle with his kids. Many new hires flocked to him now since he was able to relax a little more. With that came many many MANY questions. And Myles met each one with patience and understanding but god was he exhausted by the end of the day. He looks up at his computer, noticing the time, the red head groans. He's already gonna be late getting home.

He sent Yukie a text to let him know he was finally on the way, as he started for his car.

"Hey! Myles can you hold on a minute?" Myles turns, it's his boss, Reed. The red head waves in acknowledgement. "Yea but I can't stay long, my kids are coming home tonight...."

Reed had come jogging over, meeting Myles at his car. "Ah right, it's still weird hearing you've got kids now."

"It's been a year, Reed." Myles chuckles. His boss laughs with him, placing his hand on the other side of Myles, sort of enclosing him against his car. Myles finds this a little odd. Reed's been alot friendlier towards him lately. Not that the boss man was ever hostile but it seemed that ever since Myles said he'd taken in kids and wasn't sure about dating anymore since Yukie left quite literally when they were taking the first few steps together, Reed seemed like he kept coming around Myles more and more and always seemed to find a reason to get into his personal space.

"Well listen in a few days, there's gonna be a big company meeting in another city and was wondering if you wanted to--"

Myles held up a hand. "I'm going to be leaving in a few days to Japan for two weeks remember?" Reed's face dropped a little at that. "R-right well is there anyway you'd be able to postpone it?? This meeting would be like a working vacation!"

Myles shook his head, "No I'm not the one paying for the trip and it's already been planned. It's cor my kids as well so definitely not happening." Myles does offer a smile in apology as he got into his car. "But maybe if another comes up, I'll tag along."

Reed still seems a little disappointed but nods "yea ... Next time for sure."

They both wave good bye, and Myles is finally going home. He has a weird feeling settle into his gut.....

But right now he had other things to worry about

"Hey~" he calls out tiredly when he finally opens his apartment door. "I'm home.... Sorry we've had a bunch of new hires and I had to get them all caught up, took longer than I wanted...." Myles explains flopping into a chair.

“No worries. I’ve been making myself busy.” Yukie admitted having cleaned the apartment and folded clothes. Setting the table Yukie set out the takeout having ordered dinner for all of them. “Tama and Haru are playing in their room. They’ve been quite happy being home though I had to stop Haru from sitting by the door waiting for you.” Yukie explained as he came out wearing an apron and some slippers. “I thought I would make it easier on you tonight, got you dinner and some wine.” Yukie admitted feeling rather awkward and out of place in Myles home.

Myles gives the younger man a smile in thanks. "Thanks I didn't think I was gonna be gone so long, and definitely not enough energy to cook anything extravagant."

Hearing the boys were much happier and calmer being back home maybe there was some truth to what Yukie said. " ..... Maybe when we come back we should go woth your plan.... You stay here on weekends and I'll go run around and do errands during the day and come home in the evening.... The place is big enough that I can make a quick guest room for you to stay in so your not driving back and forth" Myles rales a small sip of wine and immediately his face twists up like he tasted something bitter. He never was much of a wine drinker. But he always heard everybody else say it's sweet, never bitter or sour!

"A-anyway do you have suitcases for the boys for the trip or do we need to get them new ones? Cuz overnight bags are not gonna cut for a trip like this."

“New suitcases would be nice. The kids need quite a bit so a nice set would work best.” Yukie replied before sitting down on the chair somewhat deep in thought. “I think staying in a guest room or the couch would be alright. As long as it’s not to much trouble and you feel comfortable with such a thing.” Yukie added as he sat and texted on his phone having been slowly talking to Yue and Yuen again. “How was work though? Darrius driving you mad like usual? Kinda miss the place, I miss working alongside you. Working at home is quite lonely.” Yukie explained as he set his phone down only to smile a little as the kids finally noticed Myles and ran out excited the boys climbing on him demanding snuggles.

Myles groans a little. "Honestly he's been keeping his distance lately..... I haven't been the nicest guy to be around. But I'm sure once .... Things have settled a little more he'll have plenty to talk my ear off with."

Hearing the boys come running at him, Myles happily opens his arms to them, giving hugs and snuggles and kisses all around. "Hello my guppies!! Mama's home! Listen, daddy was very sweet and ordered dinner for us so go wash up and changed into your lounge clothes and we'll all eat so you can tell me what you did this weekend yea? Go on!" Myles sets them down to go clean up for dinner.

"A guest room I think would better it'll show them your going to be a more permanent person in their life .... After wasn't it you who said you didn't want them worrying about who comes and who stays?" Myles asked with a raised brow.

“I know…I just. I’m not really-I mean.” Yukie started as his face went red the poor man embarrassed as he spoke. “I…might not be what you’re expecting. Living together for a period of time might be hard.” Yukie explained as gently as he could. “I might make things difficult and I don’t want to make your home life uncomfortable.” Yukie added while busying himself with fixing the pillow in front of it the man endlessly smoothing it proving his point that he wasn’t fully use to living around people yet. “I’m still working on myself, still trying to fix a lot of me that’s broken. It can be a lot. With me and the kids being here you might be overwhelmed.” Yukie whispered feeling so self conscious about intruding in Myles life since he didn’t feel he deserved to be back in it yet.

”Clean!” Haru yelled loudly as he smiled and showed he was done while Tama was soaked in water and half dressed. “I helped Tama also!” Haru declared happily before showing Myles his dinosaur shirt he picked out and his purple fuzzy socks.

"Yukie you're acting like you're moving in..... you're only gonna be by 3 days out of the week and I'll be gone during the day..... It's not like you haven't been here before...." Myles counters calmly.

Hearing the boys come toddling back, Myles smiles. "Very good Haru. You're a very good big brother to help Tama though I think next time you should call me to help Tama next time, yea?" The older man can't help but snicker a little at poor soaked Tama. He places Haru in the chair while picking up Tama to go and change him again. "Wait there a moment while get your brother dried off now and we'll have dinner then."

“ Not for long…and, I was drunk.” Yukie admitted as he continued to fuss over the pillow the man embarrassed with how kind and gentle Myles was being with him. Seeing the kids come out Yukie was surprised by the change in attitude Haru being completely different then how he was back home.

“Okay! Next time I’ll ask Mama!” Haru replied as he smiled and went over to the table to wait patiently for Myles to come back, only to stop and frown as he noticed Yukie. “Mama is back you can leave now.” Haru stated rather boldly as he glared at Yukie.

”I’m going to stay here a little longer Haru. Just to talk to your Mama.” Yukie explained gently to Haru who huffed angrily.

”No. We don’t need you here my Mama is here.” Haru added a little louder before getting and opening the door for him. “Goodbye.” Haru added as he grabbed Yukies shoes and threw them out of the door and waited for Yukie to leave.

"Tama sit tight a moment while I get you some fresh clothes ok?" Myles states as he goes back tot the living room. He caught the last few minutes of Haru's little discharge to Yukie. That makes him less than pleased with the child.

The older man comes back around glaring at Haru, not to be scary but to be sure the child knows he's not at all happy. "Excuse me Haru.... Would you like to repeat that? Because i most certainly did not teach you to treat a guest like that!" Myles scolds Haru. "Go out there and bring in your father's shoes, NOW!" he firmly commands.

"Yukie go change Tama while I have a word with Haru please? Washer is just here in the hall and under should be a dry load of Tama's clothes."

Myles continues to glare at the child.

“alright” Yukie replied as he went and grabbed some dry clothes and headed back to the bedroom completely missing their conversation.

“He’s not my father! I don’t want him here I hate him!” Haru screamed at Myles in anger as Haru stormed out to the shoes and threw them back inside house as he glared at Myles the kids face turning red in anger.

“Hello Tama. I got your clothes” Yukie said as he knocked lightly and let himself more into the room. Helping Tama pick out some clothes he helped him dress and lead Tama  out to the living room only to see the shoes being thrown at Myles. “Ah, seems Haru is a bit angry. Why don’t we go play in your room?” Yukie asked Tama leading him away since when this happened at home Taichi would step in to help with the anger outbursts.

Myles sighs and bends down to Haru's eye level. "Haru I understand you're angry with him.... But whether you like it or not, he is your father. And he is trying to be better for you both.... You can be angry with him, you have every reason to be. I was mad at him for a little while to.... But you have to give him a chance, little man.... Because he's your father." Myles tries to state as gently as possible. He knows Haru has never been a fan of change. But that's all the more reason Haru needs to bond with Yukie. They've all been through a massive change from moving to a new country to start over to getting a whole new parent and then the other one just up and disappears.

"But if that's how you really feel then you must think I'm not your mama.... After all you were given to me. I didn't raise you until recently bud.... Am I not your Mama anymore?" Myles doesn't like this tactic but he has a feeling there won't be another way to get through to Haru.

“….you are…aren’t you? I didn’t have a Mama before.” Haru whispered as he looked at Myles confused. “Did my Mama not want me?” Haru asked his voice breaking. “Why didn’t you want me?” Haru asked as tears stormed down his face his little voice breaking into a hiccup. As he just melted to the floor in pure meltdown mode. “Why didn’t you come get me! Why did you send him! You never came and got us.” Haru cried out as he continued to melt down and bawled on the floor the boy not knowing any other Mama then Myles and well when he lived back in Japan they always told him his mom had left him. So he could only put that now as Myles leaving him back with the mean family back in Japan.
