I'm getting too old for this

Sighing in relief Yukie blushed as he sat up and looked at Myles. “Thank you.” He offered as he looked at the kids who were overjoyed with Myles hair. “No, any colors outside of black and dark brown are considered strange. Not many people have other colors than black.” Yukie explained as he mentioned fo Haru to come over the boy squirming down until he was on solid feet as he ran over to Yukie and hugged him tightly. “Curly hair is rare also. Though if the boys hair gets curly I’m sure you’d be a pro at helping them style it.” Yukie added as he gently had Haru blow his nose and cleaned up the boys messy cracker face.

”Are you sure you’re fine with driving so long?” Yukie asked as he watched Haru running around the kid smiling as he peeked the buildings bars to look down at the cars.

~Haru. Stay nearby.~ Yukie scolded lightly as he got up and picked up Haru who only huffed and glared cutely at Yukie as he was set back down near him and Myles.

~I want to see the buses and the cars~ Haru chattered as he climbed on Yukie trying to sit on his shoulders the child rather rambunctious. Suddenly stopping Haru looked over at a crow sitting on one of the rails before gasping in awe. ~it’s death! Death! Death! Death!~ Haru chanted as he ran around the two in circles singing his song.

”Haru when he gets comfortable is quite outgoing.” Yukie phrased his words ignoring the song of death from the fiery child who was jumping around and just playing to his hearts content.

Myles was just enjoying the childrens energies. Taking it all in and wonders if this is what having his own kids was like. 

"Ahhh most kids get that way when they get to know someone!" Myles takes Haru's hand spinning them both in gentle circles. 

When asked about the long drive, Myles looks almost offended. "Don't worry about that! If your taking kids to aquariums ya gotta show 'em the good ones first!" He looks down at Haru and smiles. "You wanna go to see fishes Haru? Doesn't that sound fun?" 

Myles happily spends his whole break playing with and entertaining Yukie's children, so much so that somebody actually had to come looking for him since he was taking so long. 

"Alright text me when you wanna set this up and we'll set up a basket to take for lunch and everything, it'll be great!" Myles says before heading back to work. If anyone sees him glowing that afternoon no one comments on it as he happily skips around the office

“I’ll text you later tonight after I settle them down to bed and we can discuss plans” Yukie replied with a smile as he carried both Haru and Tama who where out cold after playing so much with Myles. Carrying the two to the parking lot Yukie waved happily as Yuen had came to get them having finally got the car seats for the kids and installed them and with that they all went home.

——awhile later——

Yukie laying in bed sighed as he closed his eyes the kids finally asleep around ten as he had successfully gotten Tama asleep after burping him like Myles had. Looking at his phone he picked it up and texted Myles.

-successfully got both of them asleep. The house is less lonely with kids we moved back to my home today. Apparently I need to just tape them to the floor Haru gets into everything.-

Yukie texted with a chuckle as he sighed and looked at the two kids out cold on his bed.

-I’m currently sleeping on the floor since Haru has stolen my bed and Tama is tucked beside him apparently I need a bigger bed-

Yukie added with a little chuckle as he never really realized how different and lonely his house was with only some books and a tv and bed.

-I never realized how….plain and empty my house was Haru’s been asking why I only have books.-

Yukie explained having already carefully put any adult books and items in the top of his closet in a box taped shut.

Myles had been buzzing with energy all even since he got home. He immediately went to a late night store to puck things he thought they'd need for the aquarium water park trip. 

Yukie didn't need to KNOW it was a water park .... Yet. Myles was bouncing up and down all the aisles as he picked out things. Premade lunch packets, different boxes of juice, sunscreen, towels, Myles was happily going the while nine yards. He only stopped when he heard the jingle he had set for Yukie's number in his phone. 

Reading through the texts, Myles can't help but snicker

sounds like every new parents best dreams coming true! .... Wait... Oh no don't tell me he got into your naughty books did he?!

Myles remembered Yukie also writes erotica and good lord if the child got into it... Not like he would recognize it but the mortification poor Yukie would feel!

well if it makes you feel better , I'm already getting things for the trip for the weekend! The kids are gonna love it I promise!! 

Myles took a picture of his half full cart, happily sensing it to Yukie.

-no he didn’t get into anything. Yuen explained that all adult things had to be put up before they could ever step foot in my home.- Yukie replied as he looked at the basket of items and shook his head amused but feeling a little guilty.

-that’s to much and I said I would pay for things. Besides how should I even carry that I just barely got a car seat set though I need to find a decent car- Yukie added as he got up and picked up his furniture catalogs and some clothing catalogs the kids having only came with four outfits each and a small bag of basics.

-I need a babystore…maybe a kids store? They need their own stuff- Yukie added as he sent Myles a picture of the ten catalogs he was looking at that ranged from outdoor play sets to clothing and cribs.

Myles took a glimpse at the catalogs. He took a few screen shots to use to shop online later. 

I know there's a few furniture stores. Most have baby sections. 

Myles debated sending his next. But in the end he figured what the hell 

If you want I can pop over now and again to help you set up, even baby proof a few things around the house

-I would love that.- Yukie replied his face red as he blushed and looked at his phone before setting it down. Taking a moment Yukie covered his face his heart racing. “Shit” Yukie mumbled to himself as he couldn’t help his feelings the poor man head over heels for such a perfect man but, he didn’t want to ruin such a friendship and it made him anxious. Taking a moment to calm down Yukie finally picked up his phone.

-Yeah come on by! Here’s my address and the key code to get into the gate.- Yukie texted back as he blushed and sent the message before getting up only to see Tama had woken up wanting to eat.

(Yukies house. He lives outside of the city and commutes staying with Yue and Yuen on his workdays but goes home on the weekends since he didn’t have a car yet.)

Myles smiled and texted back a thumbs up and smile emoji. 

I'll come by in the morning since it's late tonight ok? Have a good night! 

The elder went to check out happily packing his things away and loaded into the car and head home. 

 

In the morning, Myles leapt out of bed. Wetting his hair and braiding it to the side. Simple and quick. He sent off a quick text to Yukie to let him know he was on his way. 

Driving down the roads, Myles could appreciate the trees and the quiet that came from living out in the burbs. It was nice and Myles thought about buying a house out here some days but ... He always figured it would be lonely having a whole house to himself. 

After double checking the address and punching in the code, Myles carefully drove up to the house. It was beautiful to say the least. The red head took a moment to admire it, before unloading all the stuff he had bought the night before, and some of his power tools to start baby proofing the house. 

He gave a quiet knock first to let Yukie know he was here, trying to keep it quiet if the kids were still sleeping.

~Bushy hair is here!~ Haru exploded with a smile as he ran and flung open the front door the kid still in his pajamas. Giggling happily he smiled at Myles Haru wearing a cute fish onesie that was more of a giant pajamas.

~don’t run outside without me!~ Yukie yelled as he was covered in pancake batter and baby vomit as he grabbed Tama who was covered in both batter and vomit the infant huffing and fussing as Yukie ran out of the kitchen to grab Haru.

”Haru.” Yukie replied as he stopped and realized Myles was here as he blushed red embarrassed to be seen in such a state. “Hey, I’m we were making pancakes….or trying to.” Yukie admitted his face red as he tried to hide the kitchen from view the walls and ceiling coated in pancake batter.

"Hey little man!!" Myles calls with arks wide open to catch the rushing child. Picking Haru up and stepping inside, Myles looks and sees Yukie. He chuckles a little upon seeing the mess the poor man is in. 

"So I see the first thing to baby proof os the front door and after is getting you a high chair for the wee one?" Myles suggest with a raised brow. 

He walks carefully through the house, taking note of the counter spaces and corners, scanning over what the older man is gonna attach child locks to. He turns back around to Yukie with an easy grin. " Tell you what, you go and get yourself and Tama cleaned up. Me and Haru will clean up the kitchen and I'll finish breakfast before we get started on some home improvement, sound like a plan?" Myles explains, sitting Haru in a chair at the table.

“Alright I could use a shower.” Yukie replied as he sighed before looking at Haru.

~Stay inside the house. Play with your shark.~ Yukie replied to Haru who nodded as Yukie reached down and grabbed his toy shark from the pillow fortress and handed it to Haru before going up the stairs to the bathroom with a tub to get Tama cleaned up first.

~Shark.~ Haru replied to Myles as he showed him his great white shark the boy showing how its mouth moved to bite at things. Moving down off the chair Haru looked at Myles before showing him the cupboard that opened with ease with all the cleaning chemicals, knives and tools. ~no touch~ Haru added as he shook his head no at Myles and pointed to all the dangerous items in the house shoved into a small cupboard.

Myles watched and followed as the little child took him around the kitchen, possibly giving him a tour?? Myles had no idea, but nodded as best as he could when Haru mentioned things or pointed at stuff. Giving little thumbs up to show he was listening until they got to the small cupboard. 

Haru was shaking his head no at Myles, the redhead tried not to laugh. The kid was a cutie and Myles wanted nothing more than to swoop him up and squeeze him! 

But this was a serious matter. Myles held up his arms to form an 'X' "that's right. No touching!" He agreed. Patting Haru's head to show his praise and recognition. "Good job Haru!" Myles doubted the kid could understand him but he was gonna encourage the kid none the less. 

With that in mind though, the elder did need to clean up the explosion of batter and baby puke everywhere. Looking about, Myles found a rag and wet it and started wiping everything away. It got decently cleaned. He'll use the heavy duty stuff when Haru was out of eyesight. With the walls and counters in the clear, the red head reset and made a new pancake batter to start. He was in the middle of setting up plates and silver ware by the time Yukie would finish

“Oh wow, it looks so nice and clean. Thank you.” Yukie replied as he stood dressed in a loose t shirt and some comfy pants. Holding Tama Yukie had the Infant dressed in cute footsie Jammie’s that were green and of a typical spiked dinosaur. “Sorry it took me some time Tama isn’t the easiest to bathe.” Yukie explained as he set the baby down on the floor Tama rolling around as Haru watched his brother carefully guarding his fort. “So, baby proofing. Think that can be done for a playroom?” Yukie asked with a blush as he looked away from Myles feeling that love struck feeling in his stomach again. The room itself was where the kids would stay both bedrooms connected to a third room so both rooms could access the office type room which would be a playroom for the two.

”I’ve picked out their rooms but I’m still not sure if it’s a good spot of them.” Yukie explained as he watch Haru in the fort with his shark and Tama just cooing up at the ceiling.

Myles had settled Haru down with a plate of cut up fruit. He wasn't sure if the kid would eat it but at least it was a safe option if Haru decided to stay on the floor. "Baby proofing a playroom is not only doable but a must. They'll probably be spending a good amount of time in there especially if you'll be working on.... " Myles felt himself blushing. ".... Well you know working" he couldn't even bring himself to say it and it made the elder even more embarrassed! 

Dammnit he's a grown ass man! Talking with another grown ass man about sex! Isn't that what guys did?! ..... Ok maybe not all men but not the point!! Back to the matter at hand. 

"As far as picking out their rooms as long as they have room to move around and grow,it'll be ok. Just try to remember these rooms are going to grow and change with them as they get older, for as long as you all live in this house." Myles looked at the two boys playing on the floor, starting to smile fondly. "They're rooms will be the spaces they can go to feel safe and decompress when the world outside gets to be too much. Reflect who they are, who they'll change into." He looks back at Yukie, lifting a hand and patting his head. "And you're gonna have the best seat in the house to watch it all. So show me what these rooms look like yea? We'll see what we can do from there. But first, breakfast!" Myles demands as he gently picks up Haru to being over, "How do ask him if he wants to help me make pancakes?" Myles asks, again with that bright excited smile he had worn yesterday when Yukie brought the kids to work.

“There’s so much that goes into their life. From rooms to just being around them.” Yukie whispered seeing the whole house in a new light and the kids futures as he watched both Myles and Haru for a moment. Seeing the two together Yukie blushed a little but couldn’t help but wish for a future together like they all were in this moment like a family.

-Haru. Myles wants to make pancakes with you. Would you like to do that?- Yukie asked gently as Haru looked at him taking a moment to think.

-Stove is hot. Can’t play with it- Haru replied with cute puffed out cheeks as he looked at Myles and then Yukie.

”No.” Haru replied as he huffed annoyed at the realization that they would be using the stove.

”ah…I think he might be confused. Yue explained that the stove isn’t something to touch. So he’s refusing to still touch it.” Yukie explained as he raised a brow at Haru who was still slightly angry that they were trying to play with the stove. “I even explained that I’m allowed to use the stove…but I think he only thinks Yue can use it?” Yukie explained with a small chuckle as he looked at Haru who clung to Myles yet was annoyed by the two adults.

-no, Yues. Not…- ”Myles” Haru grumbled as he slightly butchered Myles name but it was a solid attempt at pronouncing Myles name.

Myles happily smiled and chuckled at the boy. "Ah he's still learning Yukie, he'll get my name in time. Whatever you wanna call me Haru. Maybe you can be one of the few people who can call me Ruby, huh?" He gave another pat on his small head. "Well I suppose that means we'll just have to order breakfast then until Yue gives us the ok to use it." The older man puts little Haru back into his chair. He takes out his phone to order and have breakfast placed for delivery and gets to work on taking note of all that has to be worked on. 

"I have a child safe door knob cover that will prevent the wee one from flinging open the door to any passers by. But if you need we can go out and grab a few more for any other doors you don't want them just barging into say if your working or just want them to avoid. Very easy to put on and fits over most door knobs!" Myles explains as he slips on the first one to the front door. "I've got some cabinet child locks to, and even a few easy alarms for the windows." Myles is just going on and on with all the child safety items he had brought with him to Yukie install. But it was looking like Myles was just putting everything in himself. By the time the delivery came Myles had everything spread out on Yukie's kitchen counter and was poking through a few of the furniture magazines and making circles with the younger on what he thought would look nice. 

"Boys!! Breakfast is here!! Whose hungry?" Myles called as he answered the door.

Yukie watched Myles worked and smiled a little as the man continued on with his baby proofing taking a moment Yukie slipped outside to take a breather yukie having taken Tama with him leaving Haru to follow Myles around to watch holding his shark as the house was baby proofed and the two bonded. Eventually though Haru quietly had made his way outside to find Yukie only to see he had gotten Tama to nap while sitting outside in the comfy rocking chair. Yukie holding Tama close under his zipper up jacket had in the peace of the quiet morning had fallen asleep himself the man out cold in the slightly recliner rocker. Haru peeking at the two just sat quietly beside them on the porch and held his toy shark just waiting for them to wake up to go inside as he watched the pool and bees in the flower beds buzz back and forth between the water and the flowers.

Myles was inside, unpacking the food. He looked around and noticed it was weirdly quiet. He called out again. "Yukie? Haru? Food's here! Come eat before it gets too cold!" 

Myles pokes his head into a few rooms. Did they all leave and not tell him? Myles scowls a little at that. Just because Yukie knows him, doesn't mean he should leave the house unattended with basically a stranger in it! 

The older stepped out he back to take out his phone to text Yukie, then spotted the little family on the porch. He couldn't help but let a little chuckle escape him. Unsurprising that Yukie fell asleep. From what he's told Myles, the young parent hasn't had the best sleep the past few days and in turn neither have the boys. 

Before he knew it, Myles snapped a picture of the little scene. He admired it for a little, just a little bit, before moving to gently wake Yukie and the boys. 

"Hey ... Wakey wakey kiddo. Foods ready. Let's get foos into everybody then you all can go back down for a midmorning nap, sound good?" Myles voice is just above a gentle whisper trying not to startle anyone awake

“Ah sorry, I didn’t mean to fall asleep I just needed a moment…” Yukie replied with a yawn as he looked down at Haru who was just quietly sitting beside him half awake. “I think Haru needs a nap though.” Yukie admitted as he picked up the small lad and carried him inside. “To be honest…I kinda had something I wanted to ask you.” Yukie replied to Myles as the smell of food made his stomsch growl and Haru instantly woke up for the delicious smell already squirming out of Yukies arms and running to the table leaving Yukie just holding a sleeping Tama inside of his jacket.

"No need to fuss. You've all have been tired the past few days. Being a new parent isn't easy" Myles assured as they made their way inside. The older man helped the rambunctious child into the seat and started fixing him up a plate, pointing to each item and then the plate, trying to gauge which one Haru would want. 

Hearing Yukie had a question for him, Myles started cutting up the plated food for Haru while listening to what the other had to say, "Of course, what's on your mind?"

“Would…you ever consider…maybe dating a co worker, in this instance me?” Yukie asked awkwardly as he tried to ignore how flush his face was. “Um…the reason I ask is because, for the last maybe month…I’ve developed feelings for you.” Yukie explained as he felt like dying on the spot but well it was better for him to be direct about his feelings around Myles.

Myles froze on the stop. It was suddenly hard to swallow. "I-I ...... Um ..... A-Are .... Are you sure you know what--who!-- you're asking for?" He stuttered, face turning as red as his hair, twirling and fiddling with it, an old nervous habit Myles had when he was a child. "I-I'm -- .... Yukie I'm .... Incredibly flattered... But you DO know I'm .... a decade older than you and-- I'm definitely not the most interesting person at all I'm not even--" The older man began nervously rambling, given Yukie every excuse as to why he wasn't a good choice to date. The kid couldn't be serious about wanting to date an old man!! "... N-not to mention I haven't been on a proper date in .... Quite a few years... Are you..... Sure you really wanna deal with that?" Myles asks again, beet red and suddenly very focused on a point on the floor.

“I don’t mind that you’re older. I’m not exactly young in my standards.” Yukie replied as he looked at Myles amused by how he was so startled by such a thing. Listening to his reasons Yukie sighed a little as he smiled and gently set Tama down in a clothing basket he had been using as a temporary crib. “Myles, if I didn’t like you, or hell want to see if I had a future with you I wouldn’t have asked you…out.” Yukie added trying to keep his composure even though deep inside he was feeling slightly rejected and unsure if he even should have asked Myles. “Besides…I’m not the best at dating…and I have a lot of baggage and issues. Not to mention most single men don’t want to be with someone who’s already got children.” Yukie added awkwardly as he tucked Tama in before looking at Haru who was just stuffing food in his mouth oblivious to the twos conversation.

"You-!! Y-You're 21!! You just turned the legal age to drink! I dunno the age of consent or legal alcohol age in Japan, but here! You can't even rent a car yet!" Myles was nervously tugging a little more at his hair. He took a deep breath to calm himself. Myles knew he needed to choose his next words carefully. 

"Can ..... Can I sleep on your question? Just to think on some things... Before I give you an answer..." Myles pleads. It wasn't a yes.... But it wasn't a no, and that thought kind of scared Myles. Was he really gonna consider dating someone a decade his junior? ... He looked to the two boys. Myles would be lying if he said he wasn't even a little excited at the thought. 

He's always wanted to start a family. Yukie was confident, attractive, and was already on his way as a talented book artist, despite it being erotica.... Plenty of people live comfortable lives that way and they always turn out to bw some of the most decent morale compassed people anyone could know. 

On the other hand, Yukie was a young parent, Myles was older and had more life experience. To top that Yukie was young and what if he tired of Myles as he grew more as a person? He was just a kid starting out. Yukie still had literally the rest of his adult life to figure out and think about who he'd really want to date and settle down with. 

"Just .... Lemme think on it ... Please."

“That’s reasonable. Needing time to think, but I want an honest answer…because I need to know. Having Haru and Tama, it changes things and I need to know who’s solid as friends in my life and family. I don’t want them growing up unsure of who’s going to being in their life anymore.” Yukie explained as he looked at Myles his words firm as he turned to Haru and cleaned up the boys face before picking him up and then picked up Tama to take them to his room to put them both down for a nap.
