The vampires listened as Yukie explained his cold away. Making it sound rather harmless....but if that was true, then why did he look so...exhausted?

Asuna nodded, biting her lip slightly. She wished she could do more for the human.

[ “I’m sorry for bothering and waking you up if I did. I came here to speak to Cedric…alone….if that’s okay.”]

Cedric was suprised. Yukie came all the way here in such a state just to talk to him? Whatever he had to say must of been extremely important. The hunter was clearly sick and it was the dead of night.

Cedric turned to his friends, giving them a small nod before each vampire quickly left the room.

Once they were gone, Cedric sat on the coffee table so he could facing Yukie.

"For you to come out all this way...in your condition...at this time...it must be very important....what's wrong Yukie?"

He looked concerned as he leaned forward, crossing his arms in front of him.

[ “I don’t mean to be rude though…but it’s easier for me to grovel for an apology on behalf of my hunters for their words earlier today without such a huge audience. Not only that I would like to discuss something they told me and well offer a solution to some problems You mentioned earlier too.”]

Cedric sighed. " I would never make you grovel Yukie... tho I'm happy to hear that our new found friendship means so much to you." He smiled softly. "What did you want to discuss?"

He watched as the hunter sip his tea. His face was so pink...perhaps his fever was getting worse? "Yukie?"

[ “This tea is nice. You made it really nice Asuna the smell and flavor is good…what kind is it.”]

Cedric titled his head slightly in confusion...Yukie was so out of it that he hadn't even noticed that the other vampires had left...nor could Cedric keep his attention.

"Its...Camille tea..." He said softly. "Yukie...you don't seem to be doing well... I think I should take you to the infirmary. "

“I’ve…already seen our doctor. I’m fine.” Yukie replied gently as he looked at Cedric noticing just how close he was sitting the act making his heart flutter.

”The two I sent to figure things out…they told me…a girl vampire attacked them. They said you all have gifts. She used hers to make them see their own deaths. I know they spoke wrong and I’m working on fixing them…it’s such a mind numbing task with all the pushback they keep giving me. I know that if this happens again they won’t trust any of you, those two are so terrified of her they won’t set their weapons down. I worry that if they keep fearing you all they won’t be able to listen to me in the future and there will be bloodshed. I need to know that we won’t be attacked again, they didn’t deserve what happened for getting frustrated they don’t understand.” Yukie explained being careful with his words as he leaned back into the chair his breathing a little labored as he spoke.

”I still am punishing them though, that’s where I am asking for a huge favor.” Yukie asked as he sipped his tea again before setting the cup to the side afraid he would drop the cup since his body felt so weak. “The hunters won’t get better living apart in their own dorms. Now that they know you guys are terrifyingly strong…I want them to be put in a place of learning to trust. I…I’m asking for you to allow us to live here for a week. Let them learn how to accept you all and that you’re not an enemy. In return…I will help with your blood problem.” Yukie offered as he had been thinking quite a bit about their problems.

”Your vampires are not use to smelling blood. It puts them in danger around humans and feral hunters. What I could do…is come by twice a week and they could smell my blood and learn to tolerate it and adjust to the temptation.” Yukie explained as he looked at his hands for a moment nervous to offer us such an idea, Yukie was struggling to really get his mind together the hunter unknowingly slipping in and out of it due to his fever.

“My father he did something like that…grandfather would tell me about it since he would be gone all night and day to help his clan. I never saw it, I never really left my home, or bedroom if I’m honest.” Yukie explained while he tried to keep focus wanting to fully tell Cedric everything in case he broke down into another fit of breathing issues like back at his dorms which had brought the doctor there in the first place due to his fellow hunters panic.

“Basically one of the hunters would volunteer as bait. They would intentionally bleed at night and it would help draw out any vampires hiding in the villages. It would help draw out your less…stable students. At one point we did this method to try to help younger vampires turned against their will…and…well my father tried to save my mother…by doing this, it didn’t work sadly. She was just too far gone and feral to control herself or learn how to she broke my father’s heart because he couldn’t go with her. He had a duty to raise me.” Yukie admitted with a small sad smile hoping Cedric could understand his reason for offering such a strange plan.

Despite Yukie telling Cedric that he'd already seen a doctor, he still felt rather concerned for him. He knew being sick was a difficult experience for humans. He sighed softly as he tried to listen to what the hunter had to say...and boy...did he have alot to say.

Cedric actually struggled to withhold his anger when Yukie told him what happened to his hunters. He immediately knew who threatened them when Yukie explained that his men had seen visions of their own deaths. He bit his lip, his eyes falling.

" I am...deeply sorry." He said softly. Feeling the need to apologize for Asuna's actions but he fell silent when Yukie spoke about needing a favor. This peeked his intrest. A favor? What could Yukie possibly need from him?

[ “The hunters won’t get better living apart in their own dorms. Now that they know you guys are terrifyingly strong…I want them to be put in a place of learning to trust. I…I’m asking for you to allow us to live here for a week. Let them learn how to accept you all and that you’re not an enemy. In return…I will help with your blood problem.” ]

What...was he saying? Cedric titled his head to the side, and placed his hand to his chin, as if he was thinking over the boys request. Having the hunters live here was a Intresting idea....but...

" I'm not opposed to you and the Hunters living here temporarily...I think it could help...but...when you say blood problem...what are you referring to?" He questioned.

[ ”Your vampires are not use to smelling blood. It puts them in danger around humans and feral hunters. ]

" Hmm...that is correct...What are you proposing?"

["What I could do…is come by twice a week and they could smell my blood and learn to tolerate it and adjust to the temptation.” ]

Cedric blinked at the human, rather surprised but such a tactic. I mean... he'd be putting himself in danger, and why go so far as to help them? He listened as Yukie informed him about his family's past and how they used themselves as bait to lure feral vampires to them...but when Yukie spoke about his mother...and how she was turned aginest her will...and became a level E...well...it made his heart ache. ( So his father...was forced to kill his mother...)

He couldn't image the pain and turmoil Yukie must of felt. To lose your mother in such a way...he couldn't even image. Vampires...had ruined his life...

( I image there are probably many hunters...that share his story...no wonder they hate us...)

" Fine....but certain procedures need to be in place.. and I don't think the head master would like this idea...so we keep the part about the blood to ourselves... I can have rooms prepared for you all tomrrow morning. "

He bit his lip, clearing his throat.

" and...I'm sorry...about your mother...about what happened...but...I promise you...we aren't all like that...."

He glanced up at the clock...it was now three in the morning. He turned to Yukie.

" It's late...do you...want to rest here for the night?"

He asked, he gently reached his hand out to the hunter, lightly touching his forehead. "Your warm...if your health doesn't improve in a few hours...I think you should go see a doctor again.."

[I am...deeply sorry.]

“Don’t be, they needed a good scare. All of them think they are like gods. They needed taking down a few pegs. Though maybe ease up on them next time. We don’t need a war or complaining parents” Yukie half jokingly replied as he shook his head the idea of dealing with parents at this point unimaginable.

Fine....but certain procedures need to be in place.. and I don't think the head master would like this idea...so we keep the part about the blood to ourselves... I can have rooms prepared for you all tomorrow morning. ]

”Thank you, it’s just for a week…I’ll make them all learn how live with you guys. They have it nice in their dorms…I want them to feel uneasy and learn how to find common ground.” Yukie admitted as he looked at Cedric a small happy smile on his lips that Cedric was so willing to try such things with him. Back home his ideas had always been laughed at…not only that he was often lectured on how they must keep tradition.

[and...I'm sorry...about your mother...about what happened...but...I promise you...we aren't all like that....]

”Don’t be sorry, I was quite young when it happened…I don’t really remember her anymore. Father was destroyed by it though…he removed anything that reminded him of her. I only kept a few things….you saw me in one of her kimonos the other day. The things I have from her were a gift from grandfather, he often told me about her, though he said I should be careful wearing the kimonos I inherited  because I looked so much like her. He worried about father a lot…I…just wear their kimonos to keep their memories alive now.” Yukie admitted as he sighed a little the memories to him now bitter sweet.

“I’m really glad I met you Cedric, you’re so very kind…I never thought I would grow to enjoy being around vampire’s like you as much as I do now.” Yukie added with a deep yawn, the poor hunter starting to fall asleep.

It's late...do you...want to rest here for the night?]

”Yes. I can sleep on the couch and be gone by morning if that’s okay. I’m to tiered to really walk back to the dorms.” Yukie admitted ignoring the fact he had a fever as he laid down more on the couch. Feeling Cedric touch his forehead Yukie couldn’t help but lean into the gentle touch his eyes closing as he relaxed completely.

[Your warm...if your health doesn't improve in a few hours...I think you should go see a doctor again..]

“Mmmh Okay. I’ll…see a doctor in the morning. It won’t help…I already have the medicine in me…doctor said to rest and take as needed and the pneumonia will go away.” Yukie mumbled not even noticing he was telling more to Cedric than he intended, Yukie’s voice at this point was half awake as he spoke. As he looked up tiredly at Cedric he couldn’t help his fever making him quite out of it as he spoke.

“Can I sleep with you? Just for tonight? Your dorms are so big…and to dark…and empty looking. It’s like all those stupid movies Tai picks to watch.” Yukie mumbled not willing to openly admit he wasn’t a fan of the dark and was easily spooked and it had only gotten a touch worse after their scary horror movie marathon. Curling up a little more under his blanket Yukie flinched as he couldn’t help the harsh cough the hit his body his lungs burning through the action as he struggled for a moment to fix his breathing and moved to lay on his back like he had done often when sick as a small child the action imminently fixing his pain.

All Cedric could do was really listen to Yukie. He listened as he told him that his fellow peers needed a good scare, how he wanted them to find some common ground, how he was too young to remember his mother's passing, but he would wear her kimono in order to honor her memory. How his grandfather filled his ears with stories and memories of the women.
He felt...bad. He himself had nothing to do with her murder...and yet he felt ashamed that someone of his kind did. The years of suffering both sides endured.

[ “I’m really glad I met you Cedric, you’re so very kind…I never thought I would grow to enjoy being around vampire’s like you as much as I do now.”]

Cedric glanced up at the hunter when he said that. He was alittle confused...but touched. It wasn't easy for humans to trust him...especially hunters...and it had taken days for the man to even warm up to him. "I... I appreciate you saying that..."

When Yukie said he'd sleep on the couch, Cedric chuckled alittle.
" Here? I don't think that's a good idea."

The hunter agreed to see a doctor if his systems didn't improve within a few hours...but what really caught his attention is when Yukie mentioned something about ' pneumonia '
Was this sickness hereditary? Or common to him?

Before he could really dissect the information he was just given, Yukie spoke again, asking if he could sleep with him. The sudden request shocked him. Yukie really trusted him? That much? Perhaps it was just the fever talking.

" I never thought I'd meet a hunter afraid of the dark.." He said softly. Though he fell silent hearing Yukie start to cough again.

This reminded him...of a time a long time ago where a human was sick in his presence and he was helpless. He sighed softly, shaking away the bittersweet memory.

" I'm going to touch you." He said softly, not wanting to scare the other, he gently picked Yukie up from the couch, making sure to keep him encased in the fuzzy red blanket that Asuna had been kind enough to bring him.

He carried Yukie up the stairs and down the hall into his room, unlike the students dorms, his room was extremely spacious, with a king size bed and silk black sheets. In fact, his room didn't even remotely resemble a dorm room, it was more like a luxurious hotel room.

Once inside. He closed the door behind him, and placed Yukie in his bed.

" This is better suited for you..." He said softly, taking a moment to tuck a few stains of hair behind Yukies ear, so he could admire his handsome features.
"...I'll let you sleep...and I'll leave a light on.." Thinking Yukie might want to be alone to sleep in peace.

“Now I’m really curious about your actual bedroom at home.” Yukie teased as he rested against Cedric’s body enjoying the strange sense of safety of being in Cedric’s arms just a moment. Taking in the room Yukie looked at the bed and the luxury of it all before speaking.

“So…..no coffin? Honestly I’m disappointed….so many terrifying stories about vampire dens are being crushed tonight.” Yukie admitted with a small chuckle as he couldn’t help his unfiltered words that spilled out due to his fever. Feeling Cedric’s hands touch him gently again Yukie couldn’t help the quick beating of his heart or the incredible deep blush that graced his cheeks.

”Thank you, you’re very kind….Cedric?” Yukie asked almost hesitantly as he looked away from Cedric unable to look the vampire in the eyes as he spoke. “Would….could you stay here with me. I don’t want to sleep alone…could you stay at least till morning.” Yukie asked as he played with the edge of the blanket the act clearly a nervous habit he hadn’t grown out of.

“I’ll be on my best behavior, keep to my own side. You can pretend I don’t exist if you want….I just….I’m afraid to sleep here alone….even though it’s foolish to be afraid about being here or being afraid of the dark.” Yukie mumbled as he was also secretly just as flustered about sharing a sleeping space such things were new to him since his past romantic interests had never moved past a soft kiss on the cheek, or a gentle hand holding while sitting at home.

When Yukie mentioned something about wanting to know what his bedroom at home looked like, he couldn't help but grin. If the hunter was impressed by this...then he'd be breathless if he entered his parents home. Let's just say...money was no issue to them.

[ "So…..no coffin? Honestly I’m disappointed….so many terrifying stories about vampire dens are being crushed tonight.”]

" Do you believe everything your told?" He raised an eyebrow, softly chuckling as well. As he pulled away, Yukie took a moment to compliment him. Telling him he was very kind...something he was told often by many others. But in all honesty it was his mother that taught him kindness. " This is nothing Yukie..." He said softly, his voice a little sad. Compared to his parents...he had big shoes to fill.

[ “Would….could you stay here with me. I don’t want to sleep alone…could you stay at least till morning.” ]
Cedric bit his lip, slipping his hands into his pockets as he looked down at Yukie. He took notice of the blush that formed on his cheeks. He was flusthered....but he wasn't quite sure if it was the boys fever or if...he admired him. Probably both.

[ “I’ll be on my best behavior, keep to my own side. You can pretend I don’t exist if you want….I just….I’m afraid to sleep here alone….even though it’s foolish to be afraid about being here or being afraid of the dark.” ]

" It's not foolish....your in a dorm filled with vampires...It would be foolish to not be afraid. " He said softly. He sighed, glancing at the door before looking back at Yukie. He did have work to do, but...it wasn't anything urgent.
"....Very well...."

( I find it hard...to tell him no....)
He took off his shoes, before climbing into bed next to Yukie. He didn't get under the covers tho like the human, and made sure there was some pace between them so he wouldn't make Yukie uncomfortable. He had also turned off the lights, but made sure to keep a small lamp on, giving the room a erie glow. Since Cedric wasn't sleepy he had a book in hand.  As he got comfortable, resting his back on the headboard. He glanced over at Yukie, the human had turned over to his side in order to face him. He smiled alittle...

" I'm honestly suprised that you trust me so much.....I'm curious....what was it that changed your mind...about me. About vampires."

“….oh, well um…it’s stupid and you’ll most likely laugh.” Yukie admitted as he snuggled down into the pillow more his body completely relaxed as he looked at Cedric. “On the way here I asked so many questions but not one person would answer them. You, you were the first person to actually answer my questions. You didn’t mock or lie to me…you simply just answered. You didn’t think it was silly when I asked about my lunch annoying you. Then when I came into the classes to learn….none of you threw me out.” Yukie explained with a small yawn as he was starting to already drift off.

”When…I fell asleep you didn’t hurt me you actually all let me sleep. I’d always been told Vampires killed the second that your guard was down.” Yukie added with a small roll of his eyes at how silly the words coming out of his mouth was since he himself had stolen a vampires bed tonight.

”I think…the real point of change for me. Was when you honestly told me about the blood tablets. See, back home…they simply don’t exist at least to my knowledge. For my mother…she was unable to eat enough blood, her screams were awful and painful to hear. I wonder now if she had had something like your blood tablets would they have helped her? Or was what she was permanent we never could have asked questions or for help…we just fixed things the best we could and ended their misery.

After you told me about the blood tablets. I started to wonder if we could have been saving vampires with the tablets instead of constantly fighting them or fearing them. I started questioning my father’s teachings and what I had been raised to know, I mean all I knew for my whole life was what my father and grandfather taught and believed.

Before coming here I hadn’t ever seen an actual vampire that wasn’t feral and contained for execution. It was strange and terrifying being at your school, I mean for me you were teaching everything wrong about your kind, nothing made sense to me…it was hard to accept.

As I join more in classes after our talk… I found that it was becoming easier for me to accept and learn about all of you. I’m still learning though. Trying to fix the others also but it’s hard for them to understand or see things…most of them grew up on the battlefield they weren’t sheltered like me.” Yukie explained a before he sleepily glanced at Cedric his words honest and hopeful as he spoke. While Yukie hadn’t even noticed the change or seen it in himself until now, looking back he could only point to Cedric treating him kindly and speaking to him honestly (something no one had ever done) as the turning point.

”What are you reading?” Yukie asked gently changing the subject to easily as his voice became more groggy, clearly he was trying to keep fighting sleep and talk to Cedric unable to keep himself from wanting to talk to the man even more. “Can’t be that good…I mean its to dark to really read it, unless you can all see in the dark like cats.” Yukie joked his voice playful but also holding a serious undertone as he wondered if they would be easily hunted at night. Yukie had often been told terrifying stories meant to keep kids indoors at night. While his nanny hadn’t meant ti scare him…it unfortunately hadn’t helped Yukies fear of the dark. For Yukie up until now all his life had been was stories and teachings from elders and those who had gone out in the world he had never experienced any of the stuff he was raised on or told about. This clearly explaining his different outlook from the other hunters, and his enjoyment of learning.

Cedric smiled softly hearing Yukie's answer. He was glad that he could make such an impact on someone...anyone. If anything he was just grateful to Yukie for listening and being so open minded. When the sleepy human changed the subject to his book and questioned if he could see in the dark. He laughed.

" Sort of...I can read in dim lighting. " Vampires could indeed see in the dark. They were creatures of the night after all.

"I'm reading Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare...my sister sent it to me. I told her I'd read it.... Its a famous story, and I know how it ends...but I've actually never taken the time to read it till now." He shrugged, glancing over at Yukie. " Stop fighting sleep...I'll be here when you wake up."

“Mngh…never…you might run off….” Yukie teased back only to after a few more minutes succumbing to sleep. Yukie while asleep would roll around and curl up closer to Cedric. Every now and then he would mutter in English and then grumble in Japanese completely lost in his sleep and dreaming. Through his sleep Yukies fever would fluctuate and he would have a deep cough at times followed by curling up closer to Cedric for warmth. When he was later on sleeping more normal Yukie would occasionally mutter Cedric’s name followed by a deep sigh and then his fellow hunters names in annoyance.

[ Next Day ]

Cedric had left Yukies side in order to bring him breakfast. He had one of his friends acquire the human an omelet and a bagel with coffee and orange juice. He place the food on his bed side and sat on the edge of the bed, gently touching Yukies forehead. It seemed that his fever had gone down.

He was honestly suprised by how vocal Yukie was in his sleep last night.  He found it rather cute, and yet...he was confused as to why the human was dreaming about him. He wasn't expecting Yukie to have such a positive impression of him. He only hoped that he could maintain it.

"Yukie...how are you feeling?" He said softly.
" It bought you some breakfast...if your hungry. "

“Mmgh….I’m fine.” Yukie mumbled as he looked at Cedric the hunter half awake. Sitting up slowly he looked around the room slightly confused about where he was before it all came flooding back. “Fuck….did…I get all weird and emotional on you?” Yukie asked curiously as he looked at the breakfast his stomach instinctively growling. “…I’m sorry for anything off I did…I um tend to get a little out of it when sick.” Yukie admitted as he helped himself to the food set before him.

“So, I know this is sudden to tell you first thing in the morning but my crew might be terrified I’ve been eaten or killed….they possibly might be storming the gates as we speak. Since I didn’t come back last night I know they will be worried. They might have gone and informed the headmaster I’m missing….him finding out I’m here it won’t cause you any trouble, me being here?” Yukie asked as he poked at the omelette and ate a few bites before taking the coffee to nurse on the warm liquid comforting. “I can take any blame needed if you’re in trouble for this…I kinda, forced myself as a guest on you all.” Yukie mumbled as he flushed pink from embarrassment at his actions and how rash and quick he had just made himself at home here.

Cedric laughed hearing Yukie swear. He shook his head smirking alittle when the hunter expressed concerns about getting too vulnerable while he was sick.
"You're fine." He said softly. He titled his head ever so slightly as the human continued and informed him on the slight possibility of his fellow hunters in panic, searching for him. When he mentioned a concern for getting him in trouble with the headmaster, Cedric only smiled.
"Not to worry. Asuna went down to the hunter dorms this morning to inform them of your condition, as well as the headmaster. "
He chuckled a little. "Tho I imagine some of your hunters were scared to see her."
Recalling her scary illusions she released on some of them.

Cedric turned his attention to his bedroom door. There was no need to knock since vampires had extremely high and alert senses. He could hear the individuals foot steps in the hall way approaching him, and judging by the small, petite steps. It was Asuna.
"Come in."

Asuna opened the door, and quickly bowed her head before smiling brightly.
"Good morning Lord Cedric. Good morning Yukie! How are you feeling? I hope your doing better?" Her voice friendly and cheerful.

Cedric smiled, gesturing for her to come inside.
" You can come in Asuna."
The pink haired female quickly rushed to Yukies side, getting close to his face.
"Ooooo~ your not as red today! That's wonderful!"

"Personal space Asuna." He said softly and the female pulled back alittle.
"Are the spare rooms prepared?"
She turned her attention to Cedric nodding.
"Yes my lord."
"Excellent. " He turned to Yukie. "Looks like you and your fellow hunters can move in whenever your ready. "

“No, I’m not a bit of sleep gets rid of my lighter fevers. I plan on checking back in with my doctor today.” Yukie told Asuna not bothered by the space issues as he wasn’t being poked or prodded just looked at. Hearing the rooms were all ready for them Yukie raised a brow at the vampires.

“You all work incredibly fast. Thank you for humoring my idea.” Yukie admitted as he took in Asunas eagerness slightly amused by her excitement considering what had happened yesterday, she was the last person he would think would want a hunter to move in. “We will all be here ready to move in…in about say four hours? They won’t know it’s only for a week or two so please don’t tell them, the whole point of this is for them to learn how to co exist with you all. If they even get a slight hint that it’s a setup they won’t try.” Yukie explained gently to Cedric and Asuna as he sipped his coffee and set it down not eating more than the few bites of omelette not feeling fully up to eating.

“Thank you for having me…but I should be going, we have rounds to make and basic training. Not to mention packing and getting them all in line.” Yukie explained as he set the tray down on the side table and got up out of bed only blushing when he realized he was still in his pajamas the man cursing himself. “….by chance did I wear a coat…and at least slippers?” Yukie asked with a small blush of embarrassment not sure how well dressed he was when he came here since some of last night was a blur.

The two vampires listened as Yukie informed them to keep the hunters time here a secret. Asuna quickly nodded. "My lips are sealed. " She grinned.
When Yukie began to get out of bed, Cedric offered him his hand, wanting to assist him.
" Asuna, could you bring Yukie his coat and slippers."
"Right away my lord. " She quickly left the room, closing the door behind her.

Now that they were alone, Cedric took a moment to look Yukie over. " I'm relieved that your fever has gone down... would you like me to send some of the night class students to help the hunters move in?"
He questioned. Tilting his head to the side. He leaned down, hovering over Yukies ear.
"May I...help you." He said softly. Wanting to see the hunter blush.

He chuckled at Yukies reaction before turning his attention to the door.
"Come in."
Asuna opened the door and gave a small bow before approaching Yukie and handing him his coat and slippers.

"Asuna will show you out. I have some things to take care of. " He said softly, giving a small nod to Yukie. He turned to Asuna who gestured for Yukie to follow her out. She took his hand, squeezing it gently. Her eyes so bright and full of life.
" oooo! This is going to be so exciting! Oh! Do you think we can have a sleep over! Are there any girl hunters? Why is your hair so different from everyone else's? Yu- do you often get sick? Does that apply to humans or hunters? What's it like to be sick.. Oh! Can I call you Yu?"
Asuna went on and on, asking question after question. She was like curious child.
"Asuna...." Cedric muttered and she immediately fell silent. "S...s-sorry." She often got carried away.

Yukie couldn’t help but blush neon red at Cedric’s words the hunter conflicted and nervous by the sudden offer of help. While Yukie knew that it was most likely a gesture of kindness he couldn’t help his feelings of desperately secretly  wanting a touch more of Cedric’s kindness and affection when it was just the two of them.

Following Asuna Yukie listened to all of her questions thinking them over, before he could answer her Cedric had spoke up making her stop he many questions.

”I, don’t mine the questions. How else would he learn about each other and how to co exist if we didn’t ask questions.” Yukie admitted as he looked at Asuna for a moment before building up some courage to speak.

”We have a girl hunter, she’s…tough. I don’t know her well because she keeps to herself. Shes shy and well…she doesn’t make friends easily so school has been difficult.” Yukie explained as he smiled softly at Asuna. “She likes cute things though, and watching romance movies. I’m sure if you do that you could win her over and get a sleepover.” Yukie offered with a small chuckle as he continued walking pondering her next question.

”My hair is this way because I lack skin pigments. Albinism. Genetically something went off and cause me to be like this. It’s also why I don’t go out in direct sun often and take most of the night shifts watching over you guys.” Yukie admitted having personally taken more night shifts to keep from applying sunscreen all day and carrying an umbrella.

”I do get sick often, I was born rather frail and just never got better. Basically from what I understand is that my immune system doesn’t work right, it becomes inflamed and causes fevers and other health issues. The family hunter doctor at the time of my birth…well he said I was more or less  I would be a failure to thrive situation. He told my father it wasn’t really worth it to keep me alive since I was so weak.” Yukie added with a small laugh as he smiled. “Mother right after having me proceeded to beat him with a shoe and physically throw him out of the house for suggesting such a horrid thing. She was quite angry at father too for even letting the doctor talk in such a way.” Yukie explained with a small sigh having found the story humorous when he heard it from the older hunters.

“Course later on as I got older I saw a lot more doctors, eventually I found out it was a genetic issue from my mothers side she had always been more frail growing up and later on in life. I learned  later in life how to take care of myself to where I only have them here and there. As long as I eat right make sure I rest….I do well.” Yukie added as he slightly trailed off at the end his words a slight lie since he didn’t fully take care of himself as he should.

“As for being sick…I’m assuming you all don’t get sick by your question. So…it’s tiring, I spend a lot of time sleeping and in bed. If it gets worse I spend time in a hospital setting in my room on fluids but that’s only if I get worse.” Yukie explained gently as he fixed his coat a little around himself more as they walked. “I enjoy the name Yu. It’s cute. I’ll accept it…but only if I get to choose your nickname.” Yukie offered as he would think for awhile for the perfect nickname for Asuna.

Cedric smiled a little hearing Yukie say that he didn't mind Asuna's questions. The two vampires listened as he took the time to answer each of her questions.

Cedric was surprised to hear Yukie go in depth about his childhood and how he wasn't even suppose to be born. He found the hunters story very interesting and moving. Yukie was just full of surprises.

When he questioned them about sickness, Asuna paused. Thinking.

" No...I dont think we do..."

She said softly as they walked. They had finally made it to the dorms entrance/exit.

When Yukie told her that he liked the name Yu. She giggled, smiling brightly. She even liked the idea of receiving her own nickname.

"Yes! Yes! Yes! How exciting." She opened the door for the other before following him outside.

" Lord Cedric wants me to walk with you back to the dorms. Since your still unwell. "

She smiled. She seemed to be very excited to interact with humans.

{ A few hours later }

Cedric stood in the main lobby of the dorms with Lucas, Asuna, and Eric. He wanted to welcome the fellow hunters as they entered the building with there belongings.

" Welcome....we are excited to have you here. "

He said softly, offering a small smile.

Asuna waved at the humans eagerly while Lucas just rolled his eyes.

The group of hunters by the time they had made it to the night class dorm all looked exhausted the group covered in mud and scuffed as if they had been through some serious endurance training. Their training for the day had kept them going for two hours and Yukie had run them ragged making sure they wouldn’t have much strength to be much of an issue living with the vampires on their first day.

“Thank you for having us…” Taichi replied to Cedric as he stood unsure of what to do or where to stand. The three stood in the main lobby watching the vampires Yukie clearly absent from the lineup. Taichi looking at Cedric was firm as he spoke up mentioning first to the identical twin men beside him. “This is Luca and Lucas, they share a room together and take morning shift they will be awake when you arrive home and leaving at that time. They don’t wish to be separated when it comes to sleeping arrangements so if you can humor them on that request it would be kind of you.” Taichi explained before mentioning to the girl who stood to his other side. “This is Olive, she will need a room in the female dorms as she requires that back in our dorms. She takes over noon shift with me we are in charge of making dinner and setting it up for the morning and night crew to make it easier for their longer shifts.” Taichi informed Cedric being much more formal than before as he refused to fully back down on their needs.

”We would also like request before anything that we first are allowed to shower before we unpack and start our night duties.” Taichi asked as they all moved to take their shoes off and set them by the door like they did in their own dorms due to Yukies request. After that they all slipped on clean slippers and grabbed the large duffle bags they had packed and a small school bag of items the three having packed light.

”Yukie will be arriving later, he went to visit the doctor again. Needed some extra treatment…wanted to also finish his round of security and submit the final paperwork for today. We’ve been asked by him to continue our normal tasks….asking for help as needed.” Taichi added before grabbing another bag and setting it down before Cedric at his feet. “This is our food for the week. We require a kitchen to cook in and we will keep it clean.” Taichi mumbled starting to loose his nerve as he felt like he was to much at the vampires mercy asking for so much.

”…I…I…we…also need a bathroom…or somewhere where blood wouldn’t be an issue for you all. Sometimes we get wounded and we’ll other personal stuff.” Olive mumbled as she blushed scarlet instantly looking away from the vampires at her request clearly extremely uncomfortable asking for such a thing in front of her hunters and asking Cedric. For Olive her more delicate questions of feminine nature was easily fixed back in her dorms by being in her own section of female dorms, there she had as much privacy as her heart desired and her own bathroom. So now…feeling unsure of how this would work the hunter was trying to disguise her needs as a bigger need in a room for medical treatment.

The vampires listened as Taichi took the liberty of introducing each of the hunters to them. Realizing that the hunters might not know the people before them, Cedric decided to follow suit and introduce the night class council.
" It's a pleasure to formally meet you all...these are my friends, Asuna...Eric...and we also have a Lucas. "

Cedric listened as Taichi continued to speak, informing them of their basic needs and any requirements or requests they had.

" I see... We had prepared rooms for everyone but if Lucas and Luca would like to share a room, that is perfectly fine.... As for dorms, the night class doesn't separate by gender.... since Yukie wanted us to build a better understanding of each other, you all will be staying on the third floor, where i and my the night class council reside."

When Taichi asked if they could shower before moving in. Cedric simply nodded.
" Of course...we would also be happy to assist you with your luggage. "

He was a little suprised to see all the hunters take off their shoes before entering the building. Perhaps this was something they did back in their dorms...

" What heck are they doing. " Lucus muttered to them....this was very odd, but Cedric told him to be quiet.

[ ”Yukie will be arriving later, he went to visit the doctor again. Needed some extra treatment…wanted to also finish his round of security and submit the final paperwork for today. We’ve been asked by him to continue our normal tasks….asking for help as needed.” ]

" Y-yes... of course.  I hope he recovers quickly."

He fell silent when Taichi suddenly dropped a large bag infront of him. When the hunter informed him about their needs for eating and cooking, he smiled softly.

" I see..."
"We don't have a kitchen. " Eric quickly informed them. "There isn't one in the building..."
Cedric nodded. "We apologize for the inconvenience...you will have to make trips from the day class and night class dorms. "

Cedric could tell Taichi was losing patience with them...but he wasn't sure why. He turned his attention to the female hunter who finally spoke. She seemed nervous and rather shy.

[ ”…I…I…we…also need a bathroom…or somewhere where blood wouldn’t be an issue for you all. Sometimes we get wounded and we’ll other personal stuff.”]

"You each have your own bathrooms in your rooms."

Asuna stared at Olive seeing the blush on her face. " hmmm...are you embarrassed?"

Eric quickly covered her mouth, laughing awkwardly. "Don't mind her..."
Cedric titled his head ever so slightly. He hadn't thought about what would happen if the hunters got injured during their stay here.
" If any of you get injured during your stay here, I suggest you immediately go to the infirmary and stay there until your recovered. He don't have any sort of medical facility in these dorms...since...we vampires don't get sick and very rarely do we get injured. "

Unfortunately the vampires didn't know what Olive was referring to when she said, 'other things' unlike female vampires, they didn't have a menstrual cycles.

"I didn't realize how needy humans were." Lucas muttered.
"They do require alot it seems.." Eric added.
"Do you think that female hunter will let me brush her hair?" Asuna giggled. The three vampires whispering among themselves.
"No.." Eric and Lucus said in unison, thinking it was probably a bad idea to ask her.

“Well in order for us to stay happy and healthy we have many needs that need met.” Yukie explained having let himself in as he stood in the entrance taking his time taking off his shoes the man covered in dried vampire blood and a deep medical smell.

”no need to worry about cooking here. I picked up a few basic cooking things on my way back from the hospital.” Yukie mentioned to the extra duffle bag as he looked at Cedric knowing he most likely reeked of vampire blood, and faintly of his own blood since he had treated his wounds on his way back from his day trip.

”We can get your bags for you and set them in your room.” Taichi offered as he took the three big duffle bags and handed them out to the hunters to keep their leaders work light. “I thought you wouldn’t be back until tomorrow….pending how late you were done….was there trouble?” Taichi asked as he was slightly prying on what happened to have Yukie looking like this. As he looked at Yukie the four became slightly tense at the sight of Yukie looking worse (and covered in blood) than when he left.

”I took care of the trouble. No need to discuss it tonight…if your firm on knowing at least give me time to shower first and fill out a report. The only person I owe a full explanation to is Cedric and if he has concerns he can ask them in private after we’ve all showered and unpacked.” Yukie explained as he looked at Cedric to show he meant his word. Glancing back at the four hunters he was fully taking in how they were acting noticing nothing really worrying. Course he couldn’t help but notice a red flag how uncomfortable Olive was in the moment. “Olive, I need some help with some things after I shower mostly bandage changes and medicine….think I could steal you for a few hours to help me?” Yukie asked as she quickly nodded and instantly set out Yukies slippers for him. Yukie took a moment to put them on moving much slower than normal before gently taking Olives hand watching her with one hand grabbed his smaller bags.

“Lead the way to the third floor please Cedric so we can clean up and then we can all visit in the common area after.” Yukie asked Cedric his voice firm but holding a soft kindness to it as he asked for Cedric to move them forward. Yukie was wanting to keep from making the vampires upset with his smell knowing it must have looked like he went on a massive killing spree.

——

Going up to the third floor Yukie thanked Cedric for showing him his room and with Olives help they both disappeared into the room leaving the three male hunters alone in the hallway each busy sorting out bags and basics as they chatted between themselves. Eventually the hunters all thanked Cedric for showing the way and went to their rooms to clean up. After about twenty minutes later Taichi, Lucas annd Luca all came down in clean casual clothes having left the two upstairs to do what they needed.

The vampires turned there attention to Yukie as he suddenly entered the Night Class dorms. Just like his peers, he took the liberty of removing his shoes before entering...but that's not what caught everyone's attention...It was the scent of blood all over Cedric's body.

Immediately Asuna, Eric, and Lucas were on guard. There eyes changing color to a menacing red as they bared their fangs at Yukie.

" what the hell!" Lucus hissed.

Asuna tried to hide her face...not use to the secnt of blood. She was conflicted....part of her was tempted by the secnt of Yukie's blood...another part of her furious that he smelled like a vampire.

Eric quickly grabbed Lucas by his shoulder...trying to keep him calm...but he too was feeling the affects of the blood in the air.

Was Yukie crazy?!

"L-lord Cedric.." Asuna bit her lip...all three of his council memeber trembling. Some were trying to hold themselves back...but Lucas was full of rage.

Cedric quickly turned to his friends speaking to them telepathically. ( Don't be rash...calm yourself....take a deep breath....we don't know what happened....Lucus...control your temper...Asuna....how are you holding up....)

( I... i think I should go...)

He nodded and watched as the female suddenly vanished from the room. He glanced at Lucus and Eric before turning his attention back to Yukie and his hunters as they had their own conversations.

When the human mention something about owing him an explanation he bit his lip not really knowing what to think.

" Indeed...you do..." He muttered. Not sounding very happy.

When the human suddenly approached him, and told him to lead the way...Eric and Lucas seemed to frown and glare at Yukie for acting so familiar with Cedric...and the fact that he was telling him what to do...To them...he was being disrespectful.

" Why you fuckin---" Lucas started, but Eric quickly covered his mouth. Cedric glanced over at the two.

" You may go...I'll handle things..."

The two vampires reluctantly obeyed him, quickly leaving the common area in the blink of an eye.

"This way...."

Even though all the Vampires eyes changed colored when they smelt Yukie covered in blood...Cedric was the only one where his eyes remained the same....it showed just how much tolerance and resolve he had.

Cedric stayed on the third floor, watching the hunters move into their rooms.

Yukie wasn't aware of it...but his little stunt had caused a frenzy in the building. He had to try and telepathically calm each and everyone one of the students down, having the night class council give out extra blood tablets. He was rather tired now from putting out the fire Yukie so carelessly caused. Perhaps this was not....a good idea.

When the hunters finished moving in, Cedric followed a few of them down stairs, back to the main lobby. However he was the only one there.

Even though Cedric hide his frustration very well...he couldn't help but feel a peg of anger towards Yukie.

Coming here the way he did....was insane....and it extremely upset him.

-After showers-

—————-

“How bad do you think it was this time?” Lucas asked Taichi as they sat in the common area the three deep in talk trying to keep it light as they didn’t know what to say to Cedric.

”I don’t know…I thought we fixed the barriers…I mean Luca and I spent all day fixing the weak spots. Hell we even requested Yukie overlook or work. He even checked it himself. If it is failing….someone’s gotta be sabotaging it.” Taichi explained as he looked at the two before him unsure what to do as they had clearly failed. Snapping back to stare at the stairs they all visibly flinched at the muffled screamed they could hear from the medical help Yukie was getting from Olive.

”Fuck…I think we should step out of bounds here. A few cuts and scrapes are one thing….but that shit is murderous! We can’t keep up fighting like this and Cedric…should know.” Luca explained as he looked at Cedric knowing he would get a very angry scold from Yukie for overstepping on his orders.

”Cedric…we placed some security measures to help protect the humans and the school grounds. It was the first thing we did the first few weeks we were moved in here. Yukie showed us how to do it and how it works, It is suppose to alert and deter the more….um feral….vampires. He was worried that the large amount of humans being around might draw them out.” Luca explained as he was clearly nervous explaining to Cedric since Yukie had explained it was their job to protect the school and students.

”Since it falls under our job we’ve just been taking care of it ourselves….but we can’t…Yukie cant…something or someone keeps letting them in. We’ve each ended up removing one each the last week near the grounds since we’ve been taking classes.” Lucas explained as gently as he could trying very hard to talk to the vampires like Yukie had lectured him so often on.

”The bottom line is Olive asked about a medical area because she’s a medic for us hunters, that’s her job. It’s basic medicine for now with her skills, but its still better than the longer trip to a decent hospital at times. Yukie left last night to get a few plug in appliances for us to use to cook and another doctor appointment for his light cough to make sure it doesn’t worsen. He was also going to stop by a hunter sanctuary for more specific medical supplies for Olive and some new books. Yukie decided to do this once a week, it’s easier for one of us to make trips out to the city for a laundry list of what we need since some of us like specific stuff. This time we all kinda forced him to go there more for his health than things needed for us for our long term living here.” Taichi added as he thought for a moment on what he revealed.

“Nothing has gotten through in the last two weeks…we thought the ferals had left…the place was secure…but that amount of blood from both sides would only be from him chasing something inside the school grounds that was trying to attack a student. We don’t know what to do at this point and that bastard despite liking you as much as he does…” Luca added as he stopped and looked at Olive who walked down the stairs carrying a black bag full of anything blood smelling.

”Yukie…is fine but needs to stay in his room tonight. He might aggravate the vampires more if he moves now. I’ll help him move out to a different room back at the dorms in the morning.” Olive explained her voice calm and collected as she looked at the three and then Cedric connecting that the cat was out of the bag. “He’s broken his ribs and fractured other bones. Apparently five of the vampires ambushed him…..and….a hunter.” Olive explained as she had consoled Yukie who was sobbing while explaining what had gone down. “I had to sedate him…he’s pretty fucked up about what happened…the hunter that met him at the barrier. Yukie he knew him…the hunter was basically a brother to him, cared for him like an older brother you know all that.” Olive explained her voice cracking with anger.

”He was bringing news from his grandfather said he couldn’t get in cuz of the barriers but had been looking for Yukie all day because of how urgent it was.  I guess….Yukie had been getting letters for a while from what little family of hunter he had that moved abroad. His grandfather…he was the only family member truly blood related he had left, course he was worried and followed the hunter off once he learned his grandfather was sick and needed his help and care.” Olive whispered as she took a seat and covered her face in her hands taking a moment to compose herself.

“He betrayed him…his own fucking family! That hunter he’s been watching us for weeks…he knew where to find him to get in…and then once alone he tried to kill him, he beat the shit out of him! He said it was because of what we are doing here…he made sure to leave him for dead and bleeding so bad his blood attracted the Ferals! He’s so hurt-and I how could they do that betray and leave him for dead! We’re all suppose to be family and care for each other no matter where we are from it’s our damn whole code!” Olive asked her voice full of so much pain as she looked at the three before her tears running down her face the three before her like brothers and family to her since living together.

”Fuck…” Taichi snapped as the others were fuming at the dirty trick to take one of them out.

”Yukie knew…he shouldn’t have walked in here…that it was stupid and dangerous Cedric. He was so scared….he told me he didn’t know where to go that was safer than here” Olive explained as she looked at Cedric understanding more than the other three just how Yukie felt about Cedric in that moment and about the vampires around them. “Please…don’t yell at him or hate him for what he did. He’s so afraid of hurting you…and all of your family here…he tried to bandage and fix as much as he could after he was safe in the grounds.…if it would have been safer for me outside to do this he would have just asked me to fix him in the yard.” Olive explained as she tried to calm herself down her heart breaking.

Cedric kept his distance from the hunters, he didnt want to make them any more uncomfortable then they already were. So he leaned aginest the wall with his arms crossed, his head down. He could hear everything the hunters were saying, but rather than speaking he simply listened. Apparently whatever was going on wasn't anything new....and hearing that already irritated him.

[ ”I don’t know…I thought we fixed the barriers…I mean Luca and I spent all day fixing the weak spots. Hell we even requested Yukie overlook or work. He even checked it himself. If it is failing….someone’s gotta be sabotaging it.”]

Why wasn't he updated on any of this? Why had the headmaster and hunters failed to communicate that there were threats on the academy...the very academy his mother created!

Cedric bit his lip when he heard the muffled screams coming from Yukie upstairs...to him...they were heartbreaking to hear. Who ever hurt him....Cedric wanted to personality confront...

[ ”Fuck…I think we should step out of bounds here. A few cuts and scrapes are one thing….but that shit is murderous! We can’t keep up fighting like this and Cedric…should know.” ]

The vampire glanced over at the hunters. The fact that they were hiding something....the fact that people were endangered at his family's academy made his blood boil. Did they think that this was there academy? That vampires needed their help?

The vampire watched as one of the hunters approached him. He began by telling him of the security measures they had put in place on the school grounds and how it was suppose to alert and deter Level E's.

[ "He was worried that the large amount of humans being around might draw them out.”]

" You're wrong....but continue..."

[ ”Since it falls under our job we’ve just been taking care of it ourselves….but we can’t…Yukie cant…something or someone keeps letting them in. We’ve each ended up removing one each the last week near the grounds since we’ve been taking classes.”]

Cedric's eyes widened ever so slightly. His hands clenching into fists. Vampires....were attacking his mother's beloved academy...testing their authority and family name.....putting humans in danger....and the hunters...didn't tell him?!

Things only got worse as the hunter continued, telling him about they're need for medical supplies and the basic trips there leader took for them once a week but recently something had stopped their supply chain. It seems the hunters were frustrated and concerned for Yukie... but before Luca could continue, he fell silent when Olive made her way down the stairs. He could smell the blood coming from the black bag she had in her hands.

[ ”Yukie…is fine but needs to stay in his room tonight. He might aggravate the vampires more if he moves now. I’ll help him move out to a different room back at the dorms in the morning.”]

Cedric bit his lip, before nodding. "Thank you..."

She fell silent for a moment before revealing Yukies condition. It was worse than they had thought....

[ “He’s broken his ribs and fractured other bones. Apparently five of the vampires ambushed him…..and….a hunter.” ]

Cedric couldn't take it anymore...the moment Olive ended her sentence...every window in the common area shattered into millions of pieces, Cedric's eyes glowing red. The hunters were immediately on guard, thinking it was some sort of attack...while Asuna, Lucas, and Eric suddenly appeared by Cedric's side. Each one kneeling before him.....appearing out of no where.

Cedric struggled to control his emotions. He took a deep breath and covered his face.

" Forgive me....I lost my tempter. " He did his best to fix his eyes....not wanting to scared the hunters any further. He turned to look at Olive and said, "continue...."

She looked alittle frighten....but regardless she continued, informing him on how Yukie was betrayed by a fellow hunter and was trying to get news of his family. So much for their hunter code. The female hunter began to cry...and her emotions sparked the hunters to further anger and now they were trying to defend Yukies actions.

[ ”Yukie knew…he shouldn’t have walked in here…that it was stupid and dangerous Cedric. He was so scared….he told me he didn’t know where to go that was safer than here” ]

Cedric bit his lip, looking away from the girl. Even so.....

[ “Please…don’t yell at him or hate him for what he did. He’s so afraid of hurting you…and all of your family here…he tried to bandage and fix as much as he could after he was safe in the grounds.…if it would have been safer for me outside to do this he would have just asked me to fix him in the yard."]

" I've heard enough...." He said sternly. He took a deep breath and heaved a heavy sigh.

He turned to the hunters.

" I was told humans lie for many reasons...though I'm assuming you all lied in order to try and protect us...that your intentions were good...even so....I am extremely outraged by your deception and actions. All of you...including Yukie. "

His eyes changed color, turning red as he glared at the hunters before him.

" How dare you not inform me about what is happening on these school grounds. One of reasons I was sent here was to protect this Academy and make sure things run smoothly...This Academy is in my family's name...none of you would be standing here without my mother's effort and families legacy and money.....the humans on this campus is not souly your responsibility but mine as well... Infact this entire Academy's success lies on my shoulders...not yours...because if a single human gets hurt on these gounds...who do think the hunters will come after? You? Or me? And my fellow night class students? Who will demand that this Academy be shut down....who will demand that blood be slipped....who will be set back 100 more years for this blunder? You? Or the vampires ?"

Cedric didn't even care anymore...he couldn't even he bothered to hide his true appearance, as his fangs peek out from under his lips...

" Moving forward you will tell me everything....and the night class council will accompany you on your ground checks...you will stop treating us like humans who need your protection...because we don't need it or want it. You hunters are only here because my mother asked you to be here...she thought having hunters at the Academy would lessen peoples fears....it was a request she sent to the hunter council as a nice gesture..... "

He turned to the vampires that were kneeling before him.

" Please go check the grounds....and Asuna...inform the head master that things will be changing around here...."

"Yes...Lord Cedric." They all said in unison before quickly disappearing to complete there tasks.

Cedric then turned his attention to the broken windows and gently raised his hand....as all the broken pieces of glass began to float in the air, and in seconds....all the pieces of glass were returned to their rightful places, and suddenly the windows were fixed, it was as if they had never been broken at all.

He looked back at the hunters.

" There is no doubt in my mind that my family...more specifically...my parents...are the reason you all stand before me today...do not insult them or myself anymore.... you have lost my trust..."

He shook his head, and turned to leave.

“It was never our intention to betray you, but it’s not like we have some deep connection where we can go to you with our problems.” Taichi replied as he glared at Cedric. “You keep acting like we are all some deep evil that hates you all and the whole school. Like we are out to get you….you treat us just like our parents and grandparents as if there sins are our own.” Taichi added with a frown as he refused to back down.

”Not one of you even know us or who we are! You just assume we are okay with what happened that we support what happened. That we are all the same in hatred for your family and school when that could be the farthest from the truth!

“You don’t even know anything about us other than that we are hunters! We are struggling to fit into your world but we are damn trying our hardest to do it!” Taichi yelled as he huffed and glared at Cedric before pointing to the twins.

“Hell did you know that the twins, they haven’t ever seen a vampire before coming here but their family is one of the older branches!  They both lived out in the country away from all this mess and the rules most hunters live by! Luca and Lucas were recommended to come here because they know survival skills and they can make a meal out of the barest ingredients!” Taichi added his own voice shaking as he felt so angry and hurt. “They want to change how things are…but it’s a struggle…Lucas is showing interest in learning if there is things your kind can eat…or at least learn more about your preferences he wants to make blood tablets into food for you all instead of just drinks. He’s spent weeks reaching everything he can about blood tablets…even having Yukie ask you about them for him because he is so afraid to ask you all because he don’t want to get yelled at for trying to help.

Luca meanwhile wants to learn more about vampire history and has been looking into and internship over the summer if he can get leave to go with a professor to look at possible careers alongside vampires and what he might enjoy being out in the field.”

”Olive, fuck….she has twelve brothers. She’s the only girl in her family and the youngest. She became the whole family of hunters only medic, she learned how to stitch and set a broken arm by the age of eight and at ten had buried three of her siblings because she couldn’t fix their wounds from an attack. At fifteen she found a vampire hurt in the area around her house and instead of turning them in to her brothers she tried to help them. When she realized she couldn’t do as much, as she was not knowing vampires health or anything much about them it broke her.” Taichi explained as he looked at Olive who refused to meet his eyes since she was still hurt over what had happened.

”Shes studying here to become better Medic, she wants to open a hospital that duel treats vampires and humans and promotes equal medical help for both. Shes been writing her own medical journals on vampires…it’s been difficult since most hunters don’t take her seriously. She came here to change that and help. She’s learning about herbs that treat wounds and wants to see if she can treat those that aren’t pure bloods and help the more feral ones” Taichi added as the three looked almost ashamed to have their  desires put out there since usually hunters just carried on the family business and didn’t dare to dream like this.

”…I came here to get out of a political marriage. I want to marry whoever I want…I want it to be okay to marry a vampire I love back home. I don’t want to hide….I don’t want my son to feel like he has to hide from my family. I’m wanting to see if I can make it more acceptable for both of our kinds to live together in peace. It’s hard though…I don’t know anything about vampires…so I’m here to learn everything I can so I can raise my kids knowing their history and traditions.” Taichi explained as he sat down on a couch trying his hardest to not cry and calm down.

”We were told our scholarships were based on the humans being kept alive and safe when we came here. The only reason we are allowed here is because your mother allows us for who knows what real reason! I mean we aren’t really students in anyone’s eyes in our hunter society. The hunters made it very clear this is just a job and we must be loyal to them or they will remove us from the school or from the society we grew up in.” Taichi whispered as he covered his face his body so tiered and stressed the four all showing just how stressed they had been with the pressure from the hunters society breathing down their everything.

”Yukie…is misguided in how he did things, but he meant well and he’s the only reason that the other hunters haven’t been questioning us and have been backing off.  They haven’t been tense about things for the last couple weeks….infact some I would say are happy there hasn’t been an issue.” Luca explained gently to Cedric.

”Yukies…he’s been keeping them so happy with his updates with how safe we are here and the humans are happy. Not to mention the vampires are so kind and well behaved…the thing is they believe him because of his status…and he’s been proving to them every week by going out there that the school is thriving. Yukies been showing them pictures of all the clubs mingling and the general friendships between everyone every weekend. He’s been pushing and fighting with them even to the point they have been looking into funding more scholarships and well…they only want him to be so deeply loyal. They think if he stays loyal to them they don’t need us because they have their soldier.” Lucas added as they had all gotten an earful after being told they had to come here and well this is why they got the punishment it was undoing Yukies work.

” We can do what we want here now. Yukie he has no one and is alone in life so he finds comfort making his us happy. He sees no point in having an academic life here because he knows he’s their little solider to keep them off of us. He does whatever they want to make them feel in power and want to keep sending us here he says that he’s happy playing that role to keep open an escape from this life for all hunters. He’s selflessly playing the good little obedient hunter…he’s their little lap dog and the only control they have to show off.” Olive explained as disgust filled her voice at the thought of how he was treated by the higher ups.

“Yukie was wrong to not to ask first with why he did, he was wrong to not realize how it might fail and hurt both parties...he thought that If we had a barrier if he took care of it this way we could spend more time studying less time circling the grounds on duty. We could be more relaxed and make friends with you all…Yukie would make sure we all didn’t have to leave on the weekends either giving us longer nights to relax and do study groups. He’s done nothing but look out for us and protect us.” Lucas explained as he looked at Cedric feeling so guilty.

“…Yukies been hurt by them tonight…we don’t know why now they are angry since we can’t be involved it’s been like this for the last month. Yukie can’t tell us anything from his trips. He’s refusing to involve us to keep us safe…but we know he’s being punished and it’s a message to him that they can hurt us, they don’t care about hurting vampires or humans to get what they want it’s a message a warning if he doesn’t obey them and steps out of line.” Olive added as she explained how Yukie had gone out of his way to really help them after getting to know what they really wanted in life.

“When Yukie started doing this…he threw himself into our world to find loopholes for us to be removed from our bonds to the hunter society legally… our agreement with him two weeks ago is to just be students and keep out of the hunter society world we can’t discuss it with him and can’t get involved. We found it hard to step back and it’s why we have been uneasy and fighting with you…we are here now trying even if it makes us uneasy. We know though If we can do this the hunters will sever all ties…in six months…we legally and socially fall under the category as lone hunters (basically hunters protected by humans and vampires from duty and the lifestyle) and they can’t ever touch us because it would be forcing the lifestyle on us. It would cause them more problems and it easier to let some slip through the cracks to keep Yukie so loyal.” Taichi added as he finally looked at Cedric. “We didn’t say anything about the arrangement because we were selfish…we wanted to be free and Yukie was fine with his role he was happy.” Taichi whispered as so much guilt leaked out in his voice.

Cedric slowed his steps when he heard Taichi raise his voice. He stopped, with his back to the hunters as the hunter went on a passionate rant, telling him how they all felt under attack by them but how each and every single one of them had a intrest in helping or befriending or helping vampires in some unique way. Hearing the man stand up for his fellow friends and comrades was....moving...the type of admiration and loyalty he had towards Yukie...was exactly what many vampires had towards Cedric....he knew these feelings well...Asuna, Eric, and Lucus offen expressed there gratitude towards him nearly everyday.

He was suprised to hear everyone's true intentions. Taichi was here for love...Olive for medical training and treatment...wondering how she could help injured humans and vampires alike...Lucus wanting to improve blood tablets...or create food that is edible to vampires, while Luna wants to work side by side with his kind. Each and every single one of them had a unique, indifferent story...battling their own demons, struggles and prejudices.

Cedric knew that some Hunters felt trapped in their society or that they were forced into it...but he was unaware of how bad things truly were. 100 years of this so called peace...and yet so many people were suffering.

When the hunters finished speaking...he glanced back at them, his eyes no longer red and glowing in anger...in fact...they appeared softer...kinder. Cedric had been monitoring everyone's vitals in the room, trying to see if any one of them was lying to him...since he no longer trusted them...but after everything Taichi and Olive told him....he sensed no ill will or malice in their voices....they were telling the truth.

" I believe you... "

Was all he said, and left the common area to go to his room. He believed them...that wasn't a lie...but their explanation and reasons don't wipe away their actions...it doesn't mean their forgiven...it doesn't mean Cedric trusted them...he had given the hunters and Yukie his trust in the beginning....and they had broken it...now...his trust had to be earned. Moving forward...both sides needed to work together...otherwise what was the point of them even being there at all....

A few minutes after Cedric left, Eric and Lucas came into the dorms. They were suprised to see that the hunters were still here...and they could sense the awkward tension in the room.

Lucas bit his lip and did his best to ignore the humans as he walked past them, moving up the stairs. Eric sighed and slowly approached the hunters. Lucas was going to be hard to win over.

" We did a sweep of the school grounds and checked the barriers...everything seems fine...Lucus and I will head out again every hour to check them again...so please...you may all rest for the night...you are all safe here..."
