I've tried before but while reading, I kept imagining how it would be like in real life and I couldn't stomach it. I just had to stop. h8dworld Posted June 13, 2014 Share Posted June 13, 2014 Hmmn, I have a flexible opinion on this subject. There were times that I supported them and there were times that I didn't. My favor relied on how the characters were portrayed by the artist and how I received and empathized with them. It's kinda like rooting for your favorite character to find the best positive ending possible--if it is with that close family member then it's all good, but if that favorite character is with one that brings a lot of negatives then it's a no. The plot/storyline played a big role too in my supporting those incest pairings. It's all fun and good when it's fictional but in case of real life incest, I strongly express my disgust. In real life I don't agree with it. It's actually kind of weird when I think about it. I mean in real life I disagree with it, because in my opinnion it's wrong (especially between parent and the child) and just something you really shouldn't do. It's not right. But in fiction, sure why not. Even though it's not real and it's written only for entertaiment, it still should be wrong. It's actually pretty weir to think that there is many things that are wrong and illegal and not ok until you put them in fiction. Getting lost here yeah I can agree incest in yaoi. Some incest couples are really cute, but just for the brothers one. I don't enjoy the father x son type of things. Maybe because of the age difference. We read the same fanfic : the fandom was Numb3rs and the couple was an incest with the two Eppes brothers. He don't like this at all. But I do have a sister, and although I'm bi, I don't feel any kind of atraction towards her, cause we're brothers, so I think it's ok IN FICTION, but I can't see it as a good thing in reality. It's been one of my favorite things to write and read pretty much since discovering yaoi was a thing. What irks me, however, is the amount of incest calling on things like brothers in law or step-brothers (step-father/son etc.) That's not incest. I don't care if you were raised by that person or grew up with them, that don't make it incest. Also the cousin thing, but that varies depending on country.
