As weird as it might sound, I'd like to re-live the moments when I was in clinical death when I was 3-month old. I obviously don't recall anything, but it's an extreme experience, so I'd like to be able to live those moments again, to see again what I saw back then.

I think the purpose of our life is to do something that would keep us alive even after death, to let something good behind us, be it by helping someone, planting a tree etc. Basically to try to make this world a bit better and leave a trace that we existed.

That is true. Stimulating the senses is the first step. This way, you make the intended audience of your creation acknowledge or recognize it, or as you put it "see". I don't consider art though if it stops there. Because if your work doesn't create a dramatic impact to its intended audience, then it's just there because it's there. It begs the question; do people appreciate its existence?

Please allow me to take this further. Art can be everywhere. In a corporate setting, I see art in business processes and methodologies like developing Risk Treatment Plans, conducting Root-Cause Analysis, Feasibility studies, Mind Mapping etc. These things work but how efficient and cost-effective are they? Creating an RTP is one thing, but one that addresses the issues, and controls and prevents recurrence takes skill to the point it is an art. Thus by it being in effect, people in the working environment can actually feel that they’re benefitting from it.

Let’s make it simpler, let look into the family settings. How does your family dynamics work? Parenting. Art of raising kids. Relationships. In school. Art of teaching. What’s an effective coach? These things can be easily done as like a 5-year old can create a doodle or learn how to whistle. Yeah, anyone can see the doodle, even interpret what it means. Anybody can hear a whistle and recognize the tune or rhythm. But was there appreciation which led to a dramatic impact?

That's why behind 'see' there is a meaning,Du. People see things in a different way. It is same as having an opinion. No one said art 'ends' somewhere. But art 'starts' from somewhere. For its existence to be 'art' is not needed to end, but start. A simple fall of water drop starts its 'art'. Even though it shall crash which brings to life another form of 'art', it is not where the ending shall be called. Even though logic calls for an end when the drop (as for the example I took) crashes, art shouldn't be put in the frame of logic. Because of the drop, a plant can be born. Here we bring another 'art'. For me, it is a cycle, but yet to be started,as life itself, there should be a beginning. And what else beginning can be put except the detail of 'noticing' (seeing).

 

As people love to say, 'small details make up life'. Yet, not many people see the details. That's why for me 'art' is something..something you make other sees. No, how should I put it... manipulating their mind through perspective. When an artist starts a landscape, they know how the brain follows details. For example, red calls for attention. Even if there is some other color, the bright glowing red light will smack one's brain to look there. That is what an artist does, "See Me".

 

So, that's why I used 'see'. Because art screams the message of 'notice me'. (Of course, let's put ignorant people aside. Some people even if you use needle, they won't notice certain things because... ignorant.)
