An Unexpected Debt

"Such a shame... One day you will want me, that I can be sure of. But I am also sure that today is not that day. And since you asked ever so nicely, I'll let you go and have your space. But you can't run away from me, since I've already marked you as mine" I said cheerfully as I straightened back up and released Xerio from my arms.

"Should we go and find somewhere to stay the night? You're still weak from your injuries so you should rest up. Are we going to stay here or find another place?"

Xeiro was relieved when the other backed off.

Now he didn't feel so much like running. His brow furrowed lightly when he heard the demons next words.

We?

What did he mean by 'we' ?

“What is this we thing? Don't you have a home to go to?” he asked

He didn't really expect for Xeiro to let him live with him as well. Surely that wasn't what he meant. Maybe he just wanted to walk him home as a part of his 'protection' thing he was going on about earlier. Yeah, that had to be it. Because them living together was absolutely a crazy idea.

“I'm going home. Where you go I don't care.” he said as he motioned him out of the booth so he could get up.

"No, to answer your previous question. I was only just summoned to this world last night before the auction so I have yet to buy a house. Can I stay at your place? You'll be safer as well because I can scare off anyone that comes to kill you in the middle of the night~ since demons don't need to sleep and all" I said as I started to follow Xeiro home.

On the way their I kept imagining what his place would look like... Would it look like the dump that he had summoned into or would it be a higher end, tidier place?

Xeiro looked at the demon flatly.

Yeah sure, safe from everyone but the demon himself, that is.

This guy just up and kissed him out of nowhere, what if he crawled into bed with him while he slept?

He could just see him doing that too.

“No” he said in answer to his request “I don't trust you enough to have you stay with me while I sleep.”

“Besides. I'm not defenseless you know. I've been trained since I was ten. I know how to take care of myself, I don't need a babysitter.” he added as they walked down the street together.

"You should know your own limitations. I doubt if I was to seriously try and fight with you that you wouldn't have a chance. If you had a comrade with you you both would only have a slim chance at winning. If any. And I'll tell you now that there are 100's of demons stronger than me so refusing help when it is offered to you is a very unwise decision" I said gritting my teeth to withhold some of the angry that I felt at one man's stupidity.

"Tch. This is why you humans only live for less than a 100 years..." I muttered. I was going to follow him into that house whether he liked it or not.

Xeiro sent the demon an side way glance.

“Remind me later to take you up on that challenge.” he said as they rounded a corner.

He didn't say anything else as the tall man followed him to his apartment building. It was a three story brick building in a ok neighborhood. Nowhere near run down, but not exactly middle class either. He walked up the front stairs and hit the last buzzer on the wall beside the door.

After a few pushes, a woman came to the door and unlocked the heavy door, she looked up at Xeiro and glared, since she obviously been asleep when he buzzed.

Not at all effected he walked in when she moved to the side. The hall way was quiet as they moved inside.

“I need a key Trish.” he said to the woman, his low but matter of factly.

Trish was eying the tall man following her tenant into the building before she looked back to him and huffed before she turned towards her open door at the end of the hallway in a flurry of bathrobe and slippers.

A few moments later she walked back out and dropped the key into his open palm. “Try not to lose it this time. Only you would wake me from my sleep.” she huffed before looking back to the tall figure.

Ignoring her words he muttered a thanks and headed up the wide stairs not waiting for the incubus.

Reaching the third floor, he walked to his door, which was the only other one on this level. He opened his door, knowing his 'stray' was following behind him. He wasn't even sure why he hadn't put up more of an argument about his staying with him. His place was only a studio, and not overly large either. But it was well kept and clean. The cream walls were bare, his black couch and love seat were comfortable, he had a decent enough kitchen along one wall, his bathroom on the other end of the room, his queen bed sat pushed against the far back wall across from the bathroom door.

He slipped his boots off at the door before he walked on the cream colored carpet that he kept immaculately clean. One of the tall windows were open to allow air flow as his ceiling fan turned on when he hit the switch for the lights when he walked in.

Sighing he turned and looked at the demon “Three rules. No mess,no eating the neighbors, and you stay out of my bed while I'm in it.” he said giving the other male a look that said he meant what he said.

I noticed that Xeiro had a pretty nice place as I looked around a bit. It was stylishly but conservatively furnished with only the necessary things to live comfortably.

"I'm not hungry so you don't have to worry about me eating the neighbours... besides Since they're sleeping i can see their souls clearly but none of them are really worth the effort, especially when I have the quality of a kings banquet right in front of me" I saw the glare that Xeiro was giving me and smiled.

How I loved that expression on him.

"Don't worry... I'll be a good guard incubus and obey those 3 rules... Are they the only rules I have to obey, my little neko-chan?" I asked thinking of ways to get around the rules

Xeiro was about to say yes, before he thought the better of it.

“No. Stop calling me that, no random manhandling, hugs, kisses, touching, and no peeking in the bathroom when I'm showering. Oh, and stay out of my things.” he thought he'd covered the basics well enough.

He moved around him and made sure the door was locked before he turned towards the far end of the room. He was lucky enough to have a walk in closet with a stacked washer and dryer, the problem was it was the only closet. Grabbing clean sleeping clothes, awash cloth, and a towel he walked back out. His gaze fell on the incubus and he found himself shaking his head as he walked into his bathroom.

Once he had the water in the shower at the right temperature, he stripped and slipped under the falling warmth.

This whole thing was crazy. He washed as he tried to push out the fact that there was a demon in his home, most likely siting in his living room waiting for him to return. If the Guild found out about this, he was sure they would tell him to slay the thing and be done with it.

The problems with that were, one, he didn't kill unless he had no choice. Two, he owed the creature big time. He guess that was why he hadn't argue harder about his staying. Resting his head on the shower wall, he closed his eyes once again, letting the water sluice his growing tired body.

Shutting off the water, he got out, dried off and dressed before he walked back into the main room, his towel over his head as he dried his red hair.

He made sure to wear long loose pants and a t shirt so the demon had nothing to ogle when he walked towards the kitchen. He grabbed himself a bottled water drinking it as he turned all the lights off except a lamp next to the couch.

He muttered a 'nite' as he walked back to his bed, climbing in, and falling asleep almost as soon as his head hit the pillow.

Hopefully when he woke, there wouldn't be a giant of a Incubie in his apartment when he opened his eyes.

After an hour of waiting, just to make sure that Xeiro was asleep I took off my clothes (because I was a lot more comfortable with them) and walked into Xeiro's bedroom. And All I done was watch him sleep. His sleeping face was rather adorable and unguarded which made me want to wake him up but I couldn't because then I'd probably never see his face unguarded ever again.

Instead of getting IN the bed with Xeiro, I layed on top of it (thus not breaking my promise) and just stared at his face while he was next to me until morning...

Xeiro didn't stir until the early part of the afternoon.

He hadn't slept well the entire time he had spent down in his little cell at Simon's. The only rest he got was the kind that was restless and pain filled, nothing like right what he was experiencing right now.

There was a soft and warm bed under him rather than a cold concrete floor. No tight bonds cutting off his circulation, making his limbs numb. He didn't want to open his eyes as the light coming through the windows settled on his closed lids. His brow furrowed lightly as he tried fighting the increasing pull of conciseness.

Slowly, his eyes fluttered open, his dark lashes parting as he woke. The light stung his sleep sensitive eyes and he closed them again, and rolled away from the window next to his headboard, rolling onto his side, coming into contact with a warm barrier.

He sighed and moved closer, thinking it was nice until it dawned on him that he hadn't brought anyone home with him...

Had he...?

His eyes opened again and he leaned away to get a good look at what was in his bed. What met his sight was an expanse of a chest.

Confusion was written clearly on his face before he froze as everything that happened came rushing back to him all at once.

The Incubus.

Xeiro could feel his nerves start to act up as he moved his gaze upwards to the other males face. He found his heart pounding as his blue eyes found the infuriating demon looking back at him.

Not to mention he was in his bed with him.

He didn't know why,but he looked down, following the lines of the creatures body as the growing realization that he wasn't wearing a damn thing was completely revealed.

Those blue eyes shot back up to the demon's.

“W..why are you... what the hell... you just...” he couldn't even find the right words at the moment as he fumbled with the sheets as he quickly began to untangle himself, only making it worse.

Finally realizing he somehow trapped himself in his own bed, he laid there on his back and took a deep breath. This man was going to drive him crazy, he just knew it, and this was just the beginning, he was certain of it.

Glaring at the ceiling, he turned his head and settled those burning blue orbs on the ceature beside him.

"Good morning. Did you have a nice sleep?" I asked as he glared back at me.

Xerio had been cute when he was half awake. The fact that he didn't remember that he was there and had snuggled up to him was adorable and then when he realised that I was there and the fact that I was naked next to him baffled him and he stammered was amusing.

I never did understand the need for humans to sleep. All it did was make them vulnerable and creatures such as demons took advantage of that, making convents when they were half asleep and not thinking straight. The fact that Xeiro had cuddled up to him was just another show of how vulnerable humans are when they are not thinking.

"Ahh... How I love that expression of yours.... It just makes me want to tease you more and make you mine" I said to try and see if Xeiro would rise to the bait.

“I should have put no being naked on the rule list...” he grumbled as he began to try and extradite himself from his bed sheets.

But how was he suppose to know that the Incubus would parade around naked the moment he wasn't looking. Then again... he was an incubus.. he should have realized it sooner. They were creatures who lived for pleasure and seduction.

Of course being naked would be second nature to them.

Finally getting the sheets off, he rolled out of the his side of the bed tossing the covers on the naked male. He turned to look down at him, his face completely devoid of expression, his eyes stone flat.

“I thought rule three forbade you from being in my bed when I'm in it.” he said his voice as flat as his eyes.

"Yes... However, as you can see I'm on your bed, not in it. You should think about your choice of words since demons will do anything to twist them around for their own gain. And anyway, I can't understand why you humans wear clothes when they aren't needed for warmth. Having no clothes on is a lot more comfortable and your body is lighter, able to move to it's fullest when it isn't restricted" I said as I threw the bed sheets off of me.

I then got off of the bed and started to walk closer toward Xeiro.

"So, What's for breakfast?"

Carefully Xeiro kept his expression the same, though his heart picked up speed as the man moved towards him completely naked.

He was quick to get moving before he could close in on him “Not me, that's for sure.” he said as he moved towards the kitchen.

Opening his fridge, he noticed that it was almost empty and the milk had expired since he had been gone. Which reminded him, he had to call into work. He was sure they were wondering if he was dead as well.

He closed the door of the fridge and walked towards the closet but stopped when he saw the incubus again. Tilting his head up he made sure to look at only the creatures face even if he had to crane his neck.

“So I have to be careful what I say huh? Alright. I'll keep that in mind.” he walked around him, looking forward trying his best to avoid seeing his bare skin.

He went to grabbed clothing from his closet and headed towards the bathroom. Grumbling he climbed into his shower and changed since he had told the creature he wasn't allowed to peek when in it. Once he was done, he walked out and threw all his clothes into the washer before he hurriedly grabbed his key and headed for the front door.

“I'm outta here.” he muttered, trying to fight the urge to see if the darn demon was dressed or not.

He had to get out of there, keep moving to keep himself from getting cornered again. His stomach growled as he took the stairs to the building front door.

After quickly materialising my clothes back on I followed Xeiro out of the door and caught up with him. It had been quite amusing to see how Xeiro had avoided looking at him too long which made me just want to strip down and make him look. So Xeiro could feel desire and want me as much as I wanted him, well his soul at least.

"So where are we going to now?" I asked curiously " Are you eating out? I can sense that you're hungry."

Xeiro eyes narrowed as soon as he heard the incubus' voice next to him.

The woman waking towards him caught the look and she scurried out of his way as if he was going to pull his gun or something. Noticing her reaction, he sighed and let the glare drop from his face.

“Yes I'm eating out.” he said, his voice neutral “That's what people do when they have no food at home.”

Thankfully he hadn't taken his wallet with him the night he was captured, he had accidentally left it in the drawer of his nightstand. Which turned out to be a blessing in disguise since he had money in his wallet and his credit cards he hardly used.

A few blocks away, he walked into a small restaurant wedged between two larger buildings. It was a family owned shop that still sold burgers for a dollar. The interior was something from a past long gone, but it was well cared for and clean. The food was good and the prices were low, his type of place.

He walked inside and waved to the man behind the counter when he called a greeting with a happy call of his name and smile. He took a seat at one of the empty booths near the wall, turning his attention to the waitress that smiled and asked if they wanted drinks.

Once she walked away, he looked through the menu she placed before them both, trying his best not to look at the demon.

"How did you even find this place?" I asked Xeiro as I marveled around the interior. Even if it was a bit outdated I enjoyed it as it was quite to my taste. I then turned my attention to the menu and Xeiro.

"Since all human food tastes the same to me, I'll have whatever you're having" I then stared at Xeiro's face as he tried to ignore me. I could tell that I was making him uncomfortable by the way he shifted and tried with all his might to concentrate and look at the menu. Cute.

Xeiro could feel the demons eyes on him.

It wasn't hard to realize he was trying to gather his attention by making him uncomfortable. After another glance at the same page he had read at least three times already, not really seeing anything it said, he dropped the menu onto the table and looked at the incubus, with a an uninterested expression.

He crossed his arms on the table top and leaned on them

“Are you just going to stare at me all day?”

"If I could then yes. I was staring at you all night, never getting bored so it safe to say that I can happily stare at you all day as well" I said smiling at him.

I was amused by the fact that he kept putting on an uninterested or emotionless expression even though the emotions I felt coming from him were the complete opposite.

"Did you decide on what you are having yet?" I said looking a bit smug.

Just after he asked that question the waitress came back asking the same.

Xeiro sighed and looked at the menu and order a burger and fries with a drink, handing the menu back when she had gotten their orders.

“I hope you don't think I'm paying for you.” he said as he sat back and folded his arms, looking at the demon with flat blue eyes.

This creature already situated himself into his life so far, even his home, so it seems, and he be damned if he pays for his food, especially since 'human food taste all the same' to him. If that was the case he shouldn't have ordered it.

“And when are you going to get a place for yourself?” he asked

"Well I don't need to know that I'm staying at your house, at least not for a while anyway. And I don't really need a place to sleep because demons don't need to sleep. Plus, I do love laying next to you and watching you sleep. if I got my own place then I'm pretty sure that you wouldn't come and live with me. And don't worry I can pay for everything and anything you need, so breakfast is on me" I smiled and summoned my gold credit card.

"I'm pretty sure this still works but it's been two years since I've used it. Use it as you wish" I said as I gave the card to Xeiro.

Xeiro's eye gave the barest of twitches.

Did he... just say he wasn't moving into a place of his own...

He ignored the card as he looked at the creature across from him silently.

“You can't stay with me.” he stated simply “I might owe you but you living with me won't work. I'm not going to be on the look out for your dancing around the rules and waking to you in my bed staring at me like some creep.” he said in frustration.

He hadn't noticed the waitress standing at the end of the table with a refill for his drink, and by the way she was trying not to blush, she had heard everything.

Xeiro did notice when she placed the cup down and quickly rushed off. He blinked, his blue eyes following her as it dawned on him what she had overheard.

I laughed when the waitress overheard Xeiro and then Xeiro's reaction when he had realized what the waitress had overheard was priceless.

"Well it's going to be hard to explain since there is no innocent explanation other than 'I woke up one morning to find a naked man in my bed, staring at me' and that doesn't sound too innocent" I smirked.

"Anyway" I said changing the subject, hoping to avoid the fact that I was going to sleep round his house regardless, "What are you going to do today? Go to the guild and take a job? If you are I want to come- but only if you can guarantee that they won't attack me. I mean I could give some advice on the other Icubie and Demons that I know- It could prove very useful"

Ignoring the laughter and words from the creature across from him, he drummed his fingers on the table top, as he fell into thinking on how to find a way to get rid of his unwanted house guess. Somehow he had to find a way to tempt the creature into wanting to get his own place.

He almost let out a sardonic snort .

As if he knew anything about tempting anyone into anything. He never learned how. His skills with other people were awkward at best.

Xeiro snapped out of his thoughts to look at the demon when he mentioned the Guild.

“Are you insane?” he asked him with a lift of his brow “They would try and kill you as soon as they realize what you are. And they would expect me to join in. So no, I can't promise you anything when it comes to them.”

"Ok, so what if i managed to come with you without them noticing who I am? Then we wouldn't have any problems right? What's your favourite animal? Name one and I can transform into it and you could just say that you've wanted a companion for a while. Hell, I could even turn into a child if you wanted me to and tell them that I was abandon and you took me in and I've always admired guild hunters because they're so cool" I looked at him cheerfully. No sane demon would ever attempt this, which is why I wanted to try it.

"Anyway, what sane supernatural creature is just going to walk into the guild like they own the place: none! So it's not like they are going to be suspicious over everyone and everything that enters. Isn't it a place for the hunter to meet chat and take jobs?" I reasoned
