If you go by the definitions of the two words, then "true love" just means having a deep & intense feeling of affection for something / someone without any ulterior motives or external influences. I also believe that you can "love" more than one person at the same time, because different people fulfil different needs in your life... and a lot of pain and confusion in your life is caused by you agonising over the whole "How can I love this person when I love that person" - it's easy, you love _both_ of them, just you love one in a slightly different way from the other one... gomen, if this doesn't make sense... it's 1am already >. It doesn't have to be a romantic love to be "truthful", it can be someone like a sibling, if you truly love them you'll be willing to give up anything to stop them from getting hurt, you might even play the "bad guy" for them to keep them oblivious. For me, it's when you care so much about your beloved that you cherish and think first about him/her, making you less selfish and a better person. You consider your special other so precious as a part of you. When you don't seek the best for him/her....then, it becomes twisted, since you are thinking only about yourself. For example; say they are in a relationship with somebody else you support them in that, give them good advice when they ask for it instead of trying to break them up. Its true love when you want them to be happy even if that means they find it without you. I don't really believe in the idea that there is 1 true love out there and that's it. Like SqueezeBabe said I also believe that you can "love" more than one person at the same time, because different people fulfil different needs in your life. I think you can love more than one person and I think we are capable of having more than 1 true love in a life time.
