He had seen flyers of Ichiraku around but he never gone there before ''sure'' he replied 'Actually I never tried Ramen before'' he spoke truthfully.

 

Itachi felt a little guilty of putting this topic into discussion, it is not like he minds having his little brother around '' I'm not saying that we shouldn't spend time together but I was rather suggesting what normally teens do at your age'' he said, he felt conflicted thinking about it because though in a away it was better for them to find time together especially after their parent's accident, but on the other hand he did not want to deprive him of a normal life.

Naruto's mouth widen as he was purely shocked. "WHA~?!! You haven't lived until you've eaten at Ichiraku's. It is settled as of right now. You and I will go there after school." he shouts as ramen was like his life's treasure. The others kind of laughed at how Naruto over reacted over some ramen.

 

Sasuke bites his lip. "Fine then. I get it Itachi. I'll see you later." he said running off. He didn't understand fully what the other was saying. All he heard in his head was that Itachi didn't seem to want him around too often.

Sai found Naruto's reaction as endearing but all he could do was smile. He didn't fully understand the extent of his emotions so he thought it was the best thing to do in this situations. 'Then it is settled' he replied

 

Itachi felt his heart sink when he let his brother leave like that, and sourly regretting his words. Why it was so hard to be a parent and a brother? frowning to himself he picked his stuff and went to look for him. He had to sort things out, he wouldn't feel at ease if he didn't.

Naruto chuckled as he sat beside Sai. The others got up and tossed their garbage out. "We should head back. Last class before we get out. It's a drag bu we gotta do it." Shikamaru sighs. Naruto stands and holds a hand out to Sai. "Let's head back together!"

 

Sasuke went to Kakashi's classroom to hide from Itachi. He was pouting as he sat in one of the seats. The classroom was empty so he didn't have much to worry about until the bell rings.

Sai nodded and closed his bento box placing it back in his bag. He noticed how Shikimaru seemed like he didn't feel like doing anything, he wondered why. 'Shikimaru Why are you so lazy?' he asked, he had a habit of saying things directly by the way he thinks, he didn't have the ability to understand the conscience of other people's feelings so it was not unusual that other people give him the weird looks (and he is clueless as to why )

 

Itachi let out an exasperated sigh 'wasted half an hour - He thought counting the minutes till the bell rings. He could have had lunch but he skipped it to look for Sasuke (which yet has not been found) and even better if he didn't open his mouth he could have lunched with him, as it was planned in the first place. It was useless to obsess over these trivialities now it, because it was lost. He usually take control over everything in his life, but when it comes to his little brother, he always goes disarray.

Shikamaru glanced over at Sai. "I'm not particularly lazy. It's just a drag to do the same routine everyday. If there's a twist of excitement then I wouldn't feel so lazy." he said plainly. Naruto chuckled a bit. "I bet you'd still find something lazy about any day no matter the excitement added in."

 

Sasuke left the classroom as he noticed the bell soon to ring. He pokes his head around every corner to avoid running into Itachi. When he say Naruto and the other; he slips in as if he had been there the whole time.

'I see' Sai said not particularly convinced at Shikimaru's logic. The group had to return back to class, Sai remembered something ''I need to returned a book before break is over so um..see you at class?'' he said hesitantly not sure if it was a rather way to end the conversation

 

Itachi looked all over for him but he couldn't find his little brother. At last he had to give up for now and return to the classes. He was hoping that Sasuke wasn't too upset by this.

Naruto glanced back as Sai took off in the opposite direction. "Don't look so depressed. He'll be back for class." Kiba said teasingly to Naruto. "Hey! I am not looking sad." Naruto defends himself. Sasuke got to class with the others after avoiding his brother. He knew once home that would be more difficult. "Hey Naruto. Mind if I sleep over at your place?" he asked the blonde. Everyone looked at him shocked. Naruto grins. "Sure but that's surprising since you normally cling to your older brother. Finally growing up!" he said jokingly

Sai was standing in the doorway, his lips slightly parted. He overheard what Sasuke told him but he didn't know how to react. Should he feel offended? but there was no reason to because it wasn't like they were in some sort of commitment. Yet he couldn't help feeling a little bitter. He covered it with his fake smile as he took his seat.

 

Before the lesson started Itachi pondered that he should talk about it when they got home. It was a stupid thing, there was no reason to make a dilemma out of it he thought.

Naruto noticed Sai enter the classroom. He waved at him with his quirky little smile. He was still going to go out with the other for ramen. He was sitting a few seats away from Sai. He could see the back of his head. 'I never noticed before how silky smooth Sai's hair looks in the light... He must use something incredible to get it so nice like that...' Naruto thinks to himself

Sasuke glanced up at the clock. He knew it would be a long weekend if he had gone home. He was glad he made a friend in a few good people. It was always nice to have reliable people to count on in times like there. Sasuke just had to make sure he didn't run into Itachi at all for the remainder of the day.

Sai sighed and took his seat, he was having a weird sensation that Naruto was staring at him. He hesitated for a moment than he looked back and gave Naruto a rare genuine smile.

 

After school was over Itachi decided to go home, he didn't look for Sasuke knowing that he was avoiding him, he won't certainly need a ride for now.

Naruto caught sight of Sai's smile and his face lit up red. He put his book up and hid behind it. He wasn't sure why but seeing that smile made his heart skip a beat. "Was that Sai's first real smile....?" he whispers to himself

 

As school ended Sasuke was surprised Itachi didn't come to get him. He frowns a bit as he noticed Naruto walking over to Sai. 'I guess its no harm in going home. Itachi clearly gets that I'm upset.' he thinks leaving the class. Naruto walked over to Sai. "Uh... um... are you still going with me to Ichiraku's?" he asked still slightly hiding behind his books

'yes of course' Sai answered 'do you want we go right after school?'' it wasn't like there was anything waiting for him at home. It's just him with his paintings in his little apartment.

 

Itachi got home first and taking off his jacket and rolled his sleeves for dinner. It was really hard, especially at first to have to do everything for the both of them, but he was getting used to it, and if anything, he had to do his best for his little brother.

Naruto smiled a bit thinking. "I guess we should go right after school. If we waited till later people might think we're out on a date. I'm not ready for that yet." he said laughing a bit at his own words.

 

Sasuke arrived home only moments after Itachi. He walks pass the kitchen and straight to his room. He didn't feel like interacting with his brother for now. He was still trying to understand why the other didn't want him around so much. "Maybe its because he wants me to be more like him.... Itachi has friends so that must be the reason... I just don't want that when I can spend time with him.." Sasuke sighs before hiding his head under his pillow

'ooh' he couldn't help but feel a little disappointed by his words, but at the same time it wasn't like he was expecting it to be a date, at least he didn't think about it like that at first. 'Alright' he muttered, he didn't want to act clingy like those girls who are always so hung up on Sasuke.

 

Itachi saw a shadow walking down the corridor and passing across the kitchen door. He thought that most likely his little brother is going to lock himself up in his room. He frowned and as dinner was simmering he walked up the stairs. He stopped in front of Sasuke's bedroom door and knocked on the door. 'May I come in?'

Naruto walked with Sai towards Ichiraku's ramen shop. "I am still super curious as to what that picture is you were drawing. I really want to see it. You do promise to so it to me, right Sai?" he asked looking at him. Naruto was always full of energy and highly cheeky.

 

Sasuke glanced over at the door. "I guess you can come in." he grumbles as he face was still under the pillow. He was upset with Itachi so he didn't want to see his face.

Since when did I promise him that? - Sai thought looking a little bit struck. 'Yes' he meekly answered but he planned inside his head that he needs to do a decoy, he absolutely cannot show him. He was desperately trying to think of a way out of it but his face was blank like a mask with the usual smile on his face.

 

Itachi turned the knob and stepped in. 'why are you avoiding me?' such a straight forward question felt necessary but at the same time stupid, when he said it.

Naruto stops as he turned to face Sai. "We have arrived at the best place ramen can ever be created to warm you heart and stomach." he said taking hold of the other's hand. He then went inside the shop with him.

 

"You know why you idiot. I want to spend every moment with you and yet you don't want me to. You would rather I bore myself with senseless friends. I don't need friends as long as I have you, Itachi." Sasuke said

Sai was a little bit amused at his friend's enthusiasm, though it was odd that the blonde haired boy took his hand. It felt so warm. He followed him.

 

'I know I just...' he sighed and walked over to his bed. He sat by his side 'I just want you to have a normal life that's all' he knows that there are different things between wanting something and something that need to be done, and yet it hurts him to think about it. He heaved a sigh he reached his hand out and touched the youth's face ''I never noticed how much you've grown''

Naruto sat down with Sai. He was still holding onto Sai's hand. "We'd like your special!" Naruto said as he looked at the old man and young girl behind the counter. The girl smiles at Naruto. "Very well Naruto. Coming right up." she said.

 

Sasuke looked up as his brother as the other held his face. "I am not going to be young forever. Why do you think I keep up with my surprise attacks. I just want you to notice me Itachi."

Sai looked at the girl and smiled, while he was hand in hand with Naruto. It was his way subtle way of saying 'fuck off he's mine' It was the first time Sai had passive aggressively assumed a possessive claim on anyone.

 

'I know that very well, but really you don't need to do that, you are my brother, I take notice of you everyday, I have to take care of you after all, as an older brother should'' replied Itachi still didn't leave his hand from touching Sasuke's cheek. Despite his words there was something in his eyes that said something more, than his words conveyed.

Ayame noticed Sai's little indirect notion and she smiled. "These two will be on the house as it is the first time you've brought a guest with you Naruto." she said. Naruto chuckled a bit. "Yeah I guess you have a point. Sai is my friend who is in the extra special section of friends." he said. The old man looked at him. "So how many extra special friends do you have, kid?" he asked just poking at him. "Sai is the only one!" Naruto said

 

Sasuke looked at Itachi. "Since we had established these things why don't we eat. I know you were cooking my favorite." he said glancing to the side. He couldn't figure out why but looking his brother dead on was making his heart race. "Lets hurry up so we can get sleep. Tomorrow is a day off and we can spend an entire day together." Sasuke says

Extra special friend?! Sai blinked, he certainly wasn't expecting that. It gave him a little courage to perhaps show him the artwork, might not be as disastrously embarrassing as he thought it would be. Sai said nothing at this point, he didn't really have a clue on what to say. He sat down on the stool and glanced at Naruto, he felt his heart pounding in his chest. He didn't know what was the lukewarm feeling that crept from the centre of his body. He absently placed a hand over his chest.

 

''So you noticed'' Itachi said smiling 'alright then let's go downstairs' He stood up, there was a feint smell of his perfume that persisted in the air even when the older man himself was already at the doorway.

The old man placed the bowls in front of both of them. He smiled as he walked off with the girl. Naruto looked at Sai. "Are you feeling okay? You look a little bit red in the face." he said leaning a bit closer to him and placing a hand on Sai's forehead. "You don't feeling warm or feverish"

 

Sasuke got up and followed his brother down to the kitchen. He was feeling highly happy about eating his favorites. It always tasted perfect when Itachi made it.

'yeah I am fine' he said, his cheeks were turning red - he thought that was strange-'I don't think I am sick' He said, not realizing that there were other things that makes one go red, and that he didn't realize it yet.

 

Itachi got to the kitchen and poured two bowls of tomato soup, he knew that his little brother has a peculiar thing for tomatoes and he was sure that Sasuke enjoyed it. He himself he has a thing for things that taste sweet, and wondered if Sasuke's lips were as sweet. - It was wrong very wrong to let once thoughts wonder off so effortlessly to the darkest paths of his brain, but he knew he should stop himself. He gulped when he watched his little brother picking up the spoon, dipping the hollow curve into the red liquid and lifted to reach his rosy lips.
