Niya
Please Register/ Sign In, in order to see the links. well November 1st is called "All Saints Day" and November 2nd is like the day of the dead (there is no exact translation to english). But because November 1st is like a national holiday and nobody needs to work on that day and there's no school people go to cemetery on this day. And well both of these days are now kinda the same, some people don't even know the difference (oh the ignorant people). The holiday similar to Halloween is either in late winter or in early spring (depends on when the easter is that year) and the purpose of it is to make the winter go away (yup we actually do have a holiday like that ). It's one day before the start of Christian Lent (at least wikipedia calls it that Please Register/ Sign In, in order to see the links. ). It's actually a pagan celebration but when we accepted christianity, like always, they wanted pretty much all celebrations to be retaled to the new religion.. Okay so during this day which is called "užgavėnės" people dance and sing and eat a lot. And kids tend to go from house to house and ask for pancakes (as I said before it's now mainly candy) or money. And we burn like a hay doll in the city centre which represents "everything bad" and of course winter. And when the doll is burnt it's like we got rid of all bad emotions/feelings and also the winter and it's time for spring and everyone to reborn so to say. PURE-MADNESS
Wow, interesting~ I didn't knew of such traditions, or more like I didn't knew there were two different days with those traditions. We do have a party in spring as well over here, is called Easter, but people usually dont go from house to house or anything like that, they just buy chocolate bunny shaped things, and paint eggs and put them in a basket and maybe have dinner with family, but nothing like Halloween XDD And the doll thing is cool btw, i guess different places celebrate different dates in different ways~ Still cool to see the differences tho~ And really?! I want my b-d to be near Halloween too~ *pouts* that way I get to dress up twice and get double candy~ XDDD
Niya
Please Register/ Sign In, in order to see the links. we do have Easter here also. That celebration is before Easter. But we have a kind of different activities on that day. There's no candy involved (well now you can buy chocolate rabbits and such but it's not a tradition). We also paint eggs. Here's a picture of my hand-made Easter eggs: What we do during Easter is play with those eggs. Like we have to roll them down the idk how to call it so here's a picture: and you have to try and hit other's eggs which are on the ground when you roll yours. If you hit it, you win it. After we're done with the rolling we then can proceed by eating those eggs but we don't eat it just like that. Two people take one of their eggs and then one hold it in his hand and the other hits it with his egg. First it's the pointy side to the pointy side then the other side with the other side (I suck at explaining okay :DDD) and it's like a competition which egg is harder. So we eat the ones that crakced first.
PURE-MADNESS
XDDD that's a lot more than we do here, here we just paint them for decoration but that's about it, most elder students are just busy with their spring vacation and their plans, is mostly kids the ones that pain them and bring them to school and such. Niya
We always have vacation during Easter and it's always on Sunday so we stay at home with family on that day.. But of course some teenagers are too cool to spend time with family and don't like the most of the traditions. But I quite enjoy Lithuanian celebrations

Sloan
Please Register/ Sign In, in order to see the links. Wow, he is so tall...or you're tiny! Haha, nice picture you got there. That Frankenstein the way he pulled that look was awesome. As for me, I don't really celebrate Halloween. No decorations. Just money gifts from my family. It's the hype in America... and instead of giving kids junk food. I'm giving away alternatives to sweets [non-food] or healthy ones. You know... like stickers, glooey stuff kids would like. Instead of just chocolate candies, I'd give out sugar-free gums. Wouldn't want them to have cavities
OctoberNight
I have already spent like, almost an entire paycheck on Halloween this year. As always! : D We have candy, and the costumes and the face paint! I'm being a Grim Reaper. : D I might post a picture! This is my favorite time of the year, and let me tell you----Samhain is very important to me and my friends. I just wish more people knew about its origins. I always ask off work, and they have to let me off, because its a religious holiday for me : D. So... HAPPY SAMHAIN EVERYONE!

Isn't Please Register/ Sign In, in order to see the links. the Frankenstein's Monster (or just a monster)? Right? o.o Coz if elfmist is the devil, then I'm not sure that's scary enough as a scare actor should be... And Halloween sounds fun but no one seems to be dressing up. Just booze. '~' I want to though. But it's costly.
