unlove
Please Register/ Sign In, in order to see the links. Hello, boya! You summoned me, right? ^_^ Hmmmm.... easy words. Attention: I'm using google translator! Simple and easy to remember: pitaka - Wallet sansinukob or kosmos - Universe/Cosmos - - - Update - - - I think we should start with some basic structure of filipino and basic words, like Hello/ How are you et cetera, et cetera. I mean, once we know the basic structure, things will be easier. Please Register/ Sign In, in order to see the links. , you think Please Register/ Sign In, in order to see the links. will punish us/you? You've been writing Tagalog since the beginning of this thread! xD
seiragureisu
Please Register/ Sign In, in order to see the links. Pitaka is also one of the tagalog..but that's not the right word on it.. universe is a simple one.. and yes Please Register/ Sign In, in order to see the links. already warned us *nods* we forgot to translate every convo.. and we're all sorry for that and as you can see we translate everything so far.. *smiles* anyway, we didn't have specifically a version of ' HELLO' HOW ARE YOU? = KAMUSTA KA NA? rainbowman
Please Register/ Sign In, in order to see the links. and Please Register/ Sign In, in order to see the links. actually pitaka isn't tagalog, spanish I think? (please correct me if I'm wrong). Wallet in real tagalog term is 'lupi'(fold) / 'lupian'(folder) / 'kalupi'(folded) My grandmother used to tell me to 'dalin mo ang lupian ko, walang laman yang sayo' (bring my wallet, yours got nothing) A wallet is a folded money bag. ._. Universe - sansinukob *u* Even we, the Filipinos are learning some words we aren't used to ((: We're still creating a lesson plan XD so as of now, we may begin with the words unusually said in our home. btw, it is part of the rules to speak english.. And we've been creating mess and was warned. We don't want punishments xDD So be good and translate for learning 8D

unlove
Yea, I'm also not sure- at least since Please Register/ Sign In, in order to see the links. posted to this thread. Could it be Tagalog's like Czech? I mean, Czech language is a new one; Tagalog is older, but as we know Spaniards have "invaded" the Philippines. When watching Philippine movies I see many English and Spanish words. Since it's an archaic language there probably are lots of new words; western import/influence. Tetsu
Hellow guys~~ Please Register/ Sign In, in order to see the links. Tagalog (and some of the dialects) borrowed a lot of words from other countries. We have the indo-malaysian not so sure what it was called... oen term which came there is the word "langit". ofc spanish as well, but the dialects borrowed much more word than tagalog. In waray, we say "pintuan' as "portahan".. and i'm sure everyone knows how very much spanish chavacano is *listens to porque* ... we also borrowed terms from Taino and Arawak.. i forgot which is which but "Caimito" and "papaya" came from them o.o

unlove
Hello, Fibi! x* Yep! We need some basics, otherwise this thread makes no sense at all! Without proper knowledge of structures( grammar), we won't be able to use words! I don't want to speak like this: I food today. I liking food very much. You food like? What food? We need to be able to say: I ate some food today and I liked it very much! Do you like food? If so, what are your favorites?

YaoTaku98
Yes!!!! I survived another week of school!!! Now, it's the weekend! *fireworks* I read this thread from the start and had lots of fun learning new words. (I'm also Filipino, though... XD) Anyways, I just wanted to impart some knowledge my Filipino teacher taught me... It's the difference between the "Filipino" language and "Tagalog" language... ^^ The Language "Filipino" is the overall language of Filipinos, so it already includes different dialects from different places of the country and it also includes mga hiram na salita (borrowed words) from other countries from when the Philippines was but a colony. The Language "Tagalog", on the other hand, is a dialect which is part of the overall "Filipino" language. It does not include Waray, Ilocano, and other dialects or the borrowed words we acquired from influences of other countries. ^^ That's all. Hope my post didn't bore you guys... XD (And if anyone has any corrections,, please feel free to correct me. )
