A soft smile spread on Tai's lips as he followed his lover quickly, excited to see his mother again. Tai honestly liked Katsumi's mother and considered her a very nice woman.

The neko moved quickly, seemingly anxious to get back home. He made sure to take the stairs instead of the elevator; he wanted to get there faster and the walking helped to calm him down. He was worried about his mother and really wanted to check on her. "Sorry for rushing," he mumbled as they made their way down the third floor hallway.

"It's fine, I can understand." said Tai almost feather-soft, and understood why he was in a rush. If his mother was still alive, he would probably be concerned about her every day of his life. Tai had always had issues with trust, and never trusted his parents when they said they were okay, well, when they were still alive that is.

Katsumi abruptly stopped outside of one of the doors on the left side of the hallway, fumbling for the key in his jeans pocket. When he found it he unlocked the door immediately, opening it and meeting with a dark room. He frowned and walked in, turning on the light as he did so. "Mom?" he called quietly, his ears swiveling from side to side as he listened. Unable to be heard by human ears, the sound of a gentle snore reached him. He sighed in relief and turned to Tai. "She's asleep still. She must've been out later than usual."

Tai smiled gently, "It's good that she's getting some rest, we should probably let her sleep, so we should be pretty quiet." He whispered again, almost feather-soft, lighter than he was speaking before.

Intertwining his fingers with Tai's he carefully led him to the back of the apartment and further into the darkness. "We can stay in the living room," he whispered, his ears perked up on alert for sounds and his tail swishing back and forth.

Tai nodded in acceptance to what the whitette had said, not wanting to speak in fright that he may wake up his mother.

Katsumi entered the almost completely black, small room, not bothering to turn on a light; he had no problem seeing anyway, as his pupils had slit and allowed for him to see in the darkness. He brought Tai over to the couch and sat down. Even thought it was light outside, the curtains were drawn over all of the windows.

Tai smiled gently and sat down next to his lover, staring at his feet for a few seconds before he looked at the whitette with loving eyes. He didn't dare kiss the boy, or make any advances on him, because he honestly thought that would be strange to do in someone else's house, especially with another person in the house, and that other person being his lover's mother.

The whitette sighed and leaned back so that his head was resting against the couch. He closed his eyes and allowed his body to go limp. He kept his hand in Tai's, though was no longer gripping it; his fingers were just there, not moving.

Tai's chestnut eyes were roaming across the room blankly, not sure what to say or do. Lightly, he squeezed his lover's hand, trying to make sure that he was mentally "there".

The younger's tail flicked in first response before he lightly squeezed back, turning his head to look at him. He smiled tiredly, mostly because of his thoughts and worries from earlier. He moved a bit closer, resting his head on Tai's shoulder.

"I love you..." The words were faint, and hard to hear for a normal human being, but he knew that if he said it lightly, that Katsumi would still be able to hear him.

Katsumi's smile widened and he rubbed his face gently against Tai's neck, his soft purrs filling the small room. "I love you too," he murmured in reply, shifting closer so that he could put an arm around Tai and bring his legs up onto the couch.

Tai grinned softly, and if he were a feline he'd be purring loudly. Soft chestnut eyes glanced at the neko lovingly, tenderness in his eyes.

Suddenly a bright light flickered on in the kitchen, illuminating the living room. The whitette hissed, as the glow hurt his sensitive eyes, and he buried his face in Tai's shirt, preferring the darkness. "Huh? Is someone in there?" A figure appeared in the doorway, peeking in. Ayame was still dressed in her work clothes from before; the clothes and her hair were ruffled and messy. She had dark lines under her eyes and looked exhausted. However, she smiled when she saw the two boys. "Kat, Tai! When did you get here?"

A pale smile spread across Tai's lips like butter, "Ohiyo, Ayame-san, we got here about fifteen minutes ago." He said softly, his eyes warm, compared to the other day when his eyes were pale and insipid, due to his loss of sight.

Ayame instantly noticed the change in his expression and it made her very happy. He looks much better...I'm so glad. "Why are you in the dark then? You should've turned on a light!" The small neko curled up against Tai lifted his head to smile at his mother. "We didn't want to wake you up," he said softy, giving a slight shrug. The older woman sighed. "I'd have to get up eventually." She turned back towards the kitchen. "Would either of you like any tea? I don't have to leave for another hour or so..." Katsumi frowned and sat up straighter. "Y-you're going out again...?" Ayame sent his a reassuring smile. "It's fine, Kat. Oh! That reminds me. I found the toy you were looking for, it was under the bed--" The boy's fur stood on end and he hissed again. "Mom!"

His pale smile turned into a small grin. Noticing the drastic changes in the older woman, his heart felt...off...he still believed that he caused this, that it was all of his fault, and in all reality, it pretty much was, because he stuck his nose into another person's business, and he screwed up big time. A soft sigh escaped his lips before he lightly held the younger male's hand again, squeezing lightly, trying to get his mind on a different step.

His mother chuckled softly, waving her hand in a teasing manner. "Never mind, never mind. If you do want it, it's on your bed. I'll get the tea." She walked quietly into the kitchen, humming softly as she took out what she needed. Katsumi sighed and squeezed Tai's hand back, still leaning on him. "I'm glad that you get along well," he murmured, closing his eyes and putting his nose against Tai's shoulder, breathing in.

Silently, he intertwined their fingers as they held hands. A soft sigh escaped his lips as he replied, "I'm glad as well." Deep chestnut eyes glanced down at the whitette, and he rested his head atop of Katsumi's.

A few minutes later Ayame returned with two cups of tea. She handed one to Tai and the other to Katsumi, smiling at the position they were in. Her eyes regarded them with fondness and a tinge of sadness. I wish that I could be with them more often... She had to nudge her son a few times to get him to respond, but she wasn't upset; he'd always been one to zone out easily. When he finally realized she was there he took the cup and thanked her quietly. She quickly returned to the kitchen to grab her own cup off of the counter before taking a seat across from them, sinking into the chair in obvious relief.

"Thank you, Ayame-san...how has your day been?" asked Tai softly, a gentle smile reappearing on his face, trying to convince himself that everything was going to be okay. Straightening his position a little bit, he stared at the tea, as if he was negotiating drinking it.

The woman shrugged, bringing her cup halfway to her lips before speaking. "It's been fine. I got my work done, and I got to see you two, which makes it better." She took a sip of her tea, smiling as she watched them. "I put cream in your tea, Kat, instead of milk. Is that okay?" The whitette nodded in reply, licking his lips after already consuming half of his cup's contents. "Yup. I like it." His tail wiggled behind him.

Dark chocolate eyes rested at the floor, looking at it as if it were going to be able to distract him from his thoughts. Everything began to stir in his mind, heart a muddle, and his head a whirl. I guess I'm not so okay, and my first mistake was waking up this morning, I almost wish that I hadn't. But I suppose I have to hold my head up and face the day, and accept the fact things are not so okay, and be okay as long as Kat-kun is happy.
