"If I was a cloud, I wouldn't know you to begin with...I'd just stay up there, and roam, and watch over everything that happens, and help people relax, and help people with their needs...provide them shade, water, or just something to admire and watch..they're just so peaceful, compared to this wretched world." murmured Tai under his breath, staring at his feet.I am only a bird in a cage, meant to be there, and bound to a set life, bound to something that I cannot change...I'm bound to my past, which effects my present, which will affect my future.

The blue-eyed neko frowned slightly as he thought about it. "I guess it would be nice to help people...but you wouldn't be alive. You wouldn't know what you were doing, and you wouldn't get any satisfaction from doing it."

"If I wasn't alive, I wouldn't have to feel pain...even though everything that you learn, everything you do, i comes with a sacrifice...everything is accomplished through pain and strife, that is the way humans have always been, always at war, with no peace, because it's against human nature for there to always be equals, there always has to be a dominant for humans to be satisfied. There always has to be someone better, and someone weaker. It's the way humans make the world, and it's the way that the world works." murmured Tai softly.

[BlaqueCatt]

"I'm not sure about that," he said thoughtfully, tilting his head to the side and kicking a small pebble as they walked. "If it's against human nature for there to be equals, then with all that pain and suffering there has to be something good. So living can't be all bad."

[{｡^◕‿◕^｡}Ciel]

"Without any pain there is no gain." murmured Tai under his breath before saying, though he didn't want to speak about it really anymore. With a small sigh, he saw the apartment coming up, "Hey, I think we're here..." Tai didn't want to talk about what they were talking about anymore, he didn't want to tell Kat any personal information at the moment, he didn't feel comfortable doing so.

Katsumi just responded to that with a quiet 'hmm', his focus drifting to his apartment building. He felt a cold chill go up his spine, and his smile faltered, his ear twitching nervously. He could already be inside...

Gripping his lover's hand in his own, he murmured softly, "Don't worry...I'm here with you, my love." Gently, he kissed his lover cheek, trying to urge him to walk the rest of the way.

Taking a deep breath, the whitette opened the door to the building and walked inside, heading for the staircase. He took his time going up the steps, making sure that Tai was near him as they went.

Tai held his hand on the way up the stairs, sticking close to his lover's side. He didn't talk, he only tried to remain calm for the sake of his lover, he had to be strong for him. And I will be strong...because I love him.

When they reached the door to Katsumi's home, he was surprised to find it unlocked. He bit his lip nervously and opened the door, looking in. What was even more surprising was the sight of his mother in the kitchen. "Mom?" he asked in confusion. Ayame looked up at him from her seat at the table and smiled. "Hi Kat, I got off work early today."

"Oh, hello there Ayame-Sama! How was your day today?" asked Tai as he walked in with Katsumi, a small smile shaped his lips, happy to see that KAtsumi's former lover wasn't there.

The woman's smile widened when she saw Tai. "It wasn't very eventful, which was good for me." She laughed softly, and Katsumi sighed in relief. "Oh, Kat, I almost forgot." Ayame stood up and grabbed her purse from the counter, taking out a small black box. "One of your friends from school gave it to me on my way home from work. He said you left it in class?"

All of the hairs on the back of Tai's neck stood up for a moment, a bit spooked by the suspicious black box, but he let go of Kat-kun's hand so he could take the box from his mother.

As soon as Tai touched the box Katsumi leaped forward with cat-like reflexes, snatching the box away from him with a panicked look on his face. "I'll be right back," he said hurriedly, turning and running down the hall to the bathroom, slamming the door shut behind him.

"Eh...?" Tai lifted an eyebrow, rubbing the back of his neck with one hand, nervously glancing at his mother, "Do you need any help around the house, Ayame-sama?"

[BlaqueCatt]

The brunette woman was staring after her son, a look of pure confusion on her face. "Oh...well, I have to clean the living room, but you don't need to help."

Meanwhile, in the bathroom Katsumi had turned on the light and torn open the box, dumping its contents onto the floor. When he saw what had been inside he gasped, reaching out towards it with shaky hands. On the carpet was a black collar with his name engraved on the tag. He felt his stomach lurch as previously hidden memories rushed back. No way...does he...want me to...wear it?

[{｡^◕‿◕^｡}Ciel]

"I'd like to help you ma'am." Tai said honestly. He always felt like a burden when he came over to Kat's place, "Is there anything specific I can do to help clean up?"

[BlaqueCatt]

Ayame gave him a grateful smile. "I can do most of it, but could you get the cleaning supplies from the closet while I sort out my work papers?" A rustling sound came from down the hall, and Katsumi walked back into the kitchen, looking quite shaken and much paler than usual. The collar was clenched in his hand, and he refused to directly look at anyone. "I, um...s-sorry for running out like that..." he stuttered, obviously uncomfortable.

"May you excuse for a moment, m'lady?" asked Tai quietly to Ayame, though it wasn't really a question, as he made his way towards Katsumi, lightly placing a hand on his shoulder, "It's okay." He smiled softly at his love before drawing him into a hug, trying to show him that he was there for him.

Katsumi put his forehead to Tai's shoulder, saying nothing in response. His grip on the collar slackened, and he let it fall into his pocket. Ayame watched from the side of the room, her hand covering her mouth and her eyes worried.

[{｡^◕‿◕^｡}Ciel]

"Kat-kun....should we talk about it later?" murmured the beige colored male, chestnut eyes half-lidded, a bit solemn looking as he asked the question. He was concerned for the whitette and the way that he was behaving, and he knew that it worried his mother. Nuzzling his hair, he pulled him closer, trying to offer comfort.

[BlaqueCatt]

"Later," he mumbled flatly, his blue eyes shining with fresh tears and his pale cheeks covered with dried ones. He pulled away after a moment and looked at his mother, shrugged helplessly before backing away and heading back down the hall to his room.

[{｡^◕‿◕^｡}Ciel]

"Ayame-sama, I wish to be excused for a few moments longer." Walking after her son, he followed Katsumi, "Kat-kun, may I come in with you?"

All the neko did was shrug, opening the door to his room and entering. He seemed to drift over to his bed, blue eyes glassy, and sat down, staring at his hands.

Carefully, he followed in after his lover and sat down on the edge of the bed, staring off at the wall, though he closed the door behind him before he sat down on the bed. "Katsumi...."
