Umi continued to walk and stopped at the front door. "Silly Shion. Don't you know if you don't lock the doors a stray will wander off." he said looking at the ceiling. He walks out the house and down the the driveway. One away from the place Umi sighs. 'It was stupid of me to wish for something more.... Shion just wants to buy me...' he thinks heading home.

 

"If only he knew there's no price for my love. If only he'd ask." Umi says as he gets closer to his house. He flinched a bit seeing the door had been kicked in.

That damn idiot. He didn't know what he was capable of. He could stop all of his pain. He could kill those idiot loan sharks that continued to take Umi's money when he had paid them off.

 

Gripping his hair. Shion punched the wall a hole appearing.

 

"Master Hikari are you ok?" his servant asked.

 

Glaring at the man he walked past him pushing him to the side. "Get lost. I don't have time to talk to you." Stomping down the stairs Shion literally slammed the entrance door open.

 

"I won't be back tonight. Lock up." he yelled to the servant. Saying Shion was irate was an understatement. He was looking for some kind of trouble.

Umi took a deep breath before entering his house. It was clearly ransacked. He knew they were looking for him last night. "A mess this big they can't be far away." he mutters as he glanced at his bedroom door. It was the only one not kicked down or left open. He gulps a bit as he heard a foot step. He glanced back quickly.

 

It was the guys from before. "Funny you'd skip a payment like that. The boss isn't pleased." one of them said. The other laughed. "You know the deal. Miss just one payment and you have to pay with your body." he snickered. Umi grit his teeth. "As if.... that old perv of a loan shark won't me tasting this body at all." he said

Shion had a found trouble. Exactly what he was looking for. There were more than thirty men staring at him. These guys were from a different yakuza gang. Shion was always their main priority. If one could kill Shion he was to gang wealth and fame like no other.

 

"Oh. If it isn't the famous Shion." one teased. "What brings you here, lookin' for death?" he continued. Shion chuckles did these idiots actually think they could kill him. Hmph that was absurd.

 

"I didn't come here to talk." he confessed pulling out a gun. "Let's get this over with."

The men went to grab Umi but he took off running. He jumped out the window and rolled across the grass. He hops the fence in the back and runs like no tomorrow. Since he had a meal and some rest; his body was more energized than normal. It wasn't going to last long since it was only one meals.

 

'This might be the end for me.... damn it! I'd love to see that face one more time...' Umi thinks having a gut feeling he was going to get his butt kicked if they caught him

Shion had manage to shoot three of them before he was shot himself. Hiding behind a dumpster he applied pressure to his shoulder. He needed to think, because Umi wasn't going to help him with this battle. That's who he has been thinking of this whole time. Damn that brunette.

 

Breathing heavily Shion dashed out if the alley way into the streets.

 

"He's escaping! Kill. Him." One said. Groaning Shion began to run...where was he going he didn't know.

Umi realized he was running out of energy. He slightly glanced back and noticed they were closing in on him. As he had done so he tripped on a rock which caused him to slip down the side of the pavement. He rolled down the hill and ended up falling into the river at the bottom. Umi thought quickly. He lets himself sink down. 'If they think I drown then I'll be free...' he thinks sinking slowly.

 

The men started firing shots into the water. He didn't want to give away that he was alive so he curled up to protect his vitals. Two bullets him. His left thigh and right arm. Once the blood rose to the top they assumed Umi done for. Umi held down there for about an hour and a half before coming out. He gasps for air while going to the side. "Damn I am going to die.. from ammonia... just my luck..." he said looking up at the sky. "Wow! the sun is setting already"

Shion had manage to trick the thugs. He was at the University. Hmph...figures he'd end up here seeing as he was thinking if Umi. He sat down on the steps of the school before thinking of his childhood memories. What had broken them up? What made them become so distant?

Umi laid in the grass feeling so cold. He began thinking back to the day he graduated university. 'Maybe if I had decided to follow Shion instead of my dreams... maybe we could still be close....' he thinks with a sigh. He had distances himself from everyone he knew since his parents had passed just the day before. He wonders if things would have been different if he would have told someone back then

 

"Oh well.. its too late now. I guess I can give up on everything. I never really had anything to begin with" Umi said upset with hismelf

Shion was furious now. Thinking back he remembered that Umi had also pushed him away in University. The same way he picked seperating from him instead of staying with him moments ago. Shion sneered. Fine if that's what he wanted he'll leave him be. He did after all say he wouldn't talk to the other anymore.

 

Sighing heavily Shion stood walking around the University to the river bank. He knew that he should possible get some help, but decided against it for just a while.

 

Huh? Wa-was that Umi. Tsch... walking closer he saw that the boy looked hurt.

 

"U-umi? Are you hurt?" he asked. Ok screw the part with not talking to the brunette. If he was hurt he needed help. "Umi!" walking closer to him.

Umi had his eyes closed. He opened them upon hearing his name. "Is that the heaven calling me....? Wait it should be the devil. I am not saint." he mutters laughing at himself. He listened closely to realize it was Shion. "You sure do have bad timing. I look a mess for a escort. Try not to laugh at your pathetic friend okay." he said looking at the other.

 

Umi noticed Shion's shoulder looked hurt. "You should let a doctor look at the wound you have there." he said

[Teesie]

Scuffing "Says the idiot with two bullet wounds. Here i'll help you up." he said carfully picking the brunette up in his arm. "Your so thin...you weigh close to nothing." he teased.

 

Groaning he shifted Umi. "A hospital is close by. Maybe two to three miles. I should call a cab." he said setting Umi on the bench.

 

He called a cab. Less than a minute it had arrived. "Can you stand; or would you like me to carry you?"

"I left you just moments ago and here you are helping me. Maybe the heaven are telling me something." he said as he was placed on the bench. Umi looked at Shion. "You seriously are too nice of a guy to be friends with a guy like me. I feel overly spoiled." he chuckled as he noticed the cab arrive.

 

"Is it selfish of me to want to be carried?" he asked. He didn't mind walking but the cold water had him chilled to the bone.

He smiled bitterly. Umi meant so

much to him, but he didn't want to get attached because he know that Umi may break him again. He hadn't cried since he was 11 when his father passed. He wasn't going to start now.

Umi passes out in the cab. Losing so much blood, lack of health, sitting in icy cold water, and to top it off laying about in the grass; it was enough to put him six feet under. Umi was breath though so he was far from one foot in the grave.

[Teesie]

Shion looked worriedly at Umi. "Don't worry I won't ket anythig happen to you." he whispered. Soon or later they pulled in front of the hospital. Shion picked Umi up and kissed his forehead before jogging into the hospital.

Once in the hospital the doctors took both of them to the same room for treatment. Shion was a much easier fix than Umi. The nurse told him that Umi would have to stay the night for malnutrition. Since he was unconscious and couldn't really defend himself. Once the doctors and nurses left the room it got real quiet.

 

Umi was mumbling softly as he was asleep. It was his whole hearted confession he never told Shion about. Though the words that could be heard the most were, 'I love you Shion....'

Shion glanced at Umi suprised. Did he just say he....loved him? "Umi?" he questioned...but he noticed the boy was fast asleep. Hm..was that a confession or....

 

Shaking his head Shion sat there thinking it couldn't be one. Not if Umi pushed him away all the time. If he loved him wouldn't he have been willing to stay with him?

 

Sighing Shion dismissed the subject for later. He just wanted to be dismissed so he can search for whoever did this to Umi.

Umi awoke late into the night. The moon was shining in through the window. He glanced to the side seeing Shion. "I guess we made it to the hospital. Now I'll really owe you big time for this. You really shouldn't spoil me. I'll enjoy it too much and will want to stay with you." Umi said laughing lightly. He always used that joke with Shion. He never made it sound serious because he had a feeling it could never really happen.

 

"So are you all patched up?" he asked with a smile. The moonlight making his features stand out even more.

[Teesie]

Staring at the beautiful boy he frowned. "Why do you play with my emotions? You say you wouldn't want to leave yet you give no hesitation in leaving me!" he yelled at the boy. He faced away from Umi. "I'm fine don't ask. I'm not suppose to talk to you."

 

Unknown to Umi, Shion felt his heart breaking.

"I don't mean to play with your emotions but you are doing the same to me. You treat me so kindly yet you toss money at me like you can buy my heart. There's no price for my love and you have to realize it. A simple sign that it doesn't take money for you to fall for me would be enough. I leave every time you flash the green. My love won't be bought." Umi said feeling frustrated.

 

"I should get going. I have a house to clean up and I have to look for a job in the morning." Umi mutters sitting up from the bed.

[Teesie]

"You can't leave without being dismissed" Shion said. "Plus I waa just trying to show you that I could help you. I clearly told you can I buy your time and you agreed. You wouldn't spend time with me any other way. Plus...love?" he asked looking at Umi. "You love me?" he asked wanting to hear Umi confess while awake.

[azuneko]

Umi glanced to the side. "Well I guess I did agree to it... but that morning at your house... I didn't say I wanted your money then." he said feeling all confused and such. He tensed up hearing Shion. "Uh... I eh... I have been in love with you longer than you know. I wanted to tell you at graduation but my parents passed the day before. Then I found out about the loan shark. I was too worried they would come after people I know so since then I have pushed those I care about away."

 

Umi got silent. I do love you Shion but we still can't be together right now. Even though they think I drown; sooner or later they will realize I didn't. If they came after you I would be devastated. Until I can end this thing with the loan shark lets stay secret friends."

[Teesie]

"I apologize. I thought you were leaving because I didn't give you enough money. I wanted you to pick me Umi. So will....you be with me from now on? Your what i'm missing in my life." he said. He needed Umi. He loved him too, but...he didn't want to say in case Umi rejected him.

[azuneko]

Umi smiled. "Sure thing. I will pick you." he said happily but that smile faded instantly. "Shion... are you truly okay with the dangers that might come? I don't want anything to happen to you because of me." he said softly.

 

Umi glanced at his hands. "If only I could speak with the boss... I bet I could get him to cut the interest or something." he mutters trying to protect Shion.
