The black-haired mumbled to himself while trying to walk past some bushes. "From all the things that could've happened, of course, I just had to get lost..." He muttered out to himself and sighed. He'd been trying to find someone else for nearly an hour now. He could've sworn he heard someone calling out for him once, but as he tried to find whoever it was, there was absolutely nothing. Zero.

The tall male felt a small spark of hope when he spotted a clearing right in front of him. He nearly ran there, a huge grin making its way to his face. It was soon replaced with a disgusted expression as he nearly stepped on a snake. He absolutely hated snakes... Paul made its way around the disgusting creature, now walking more carefully. He didn't want anything else like this... After a few minutes he reached the clearing and streched, the bag on his shoulder nearly falling off by the movement. Finally free of those annoying trees!

Relaxing nicely perched up upon a tree branch, Ethan glanced down upon hearing a sound. He noticed it was a rather familiar face. One of his companions that he had come here with was down below. "So I am not the only one lost out here. That's a bit of a relief." he said loud enough for the male below to hear him. "There's nothing but trees all around us. If you want to be safe you better come up here. Once night falls the animals make this place their turf." he said staring down at him.

He had no intentions of coming down until morning so he was perfectly fine leaving the other down below. Though in the back of his mind he really didn't enjoy being alone. "Hey Paul. If you need a hand just say so. I don't mind sharing this tree." he said glancing out at the setting sun.

Paul was slightly startled at the words coming from who-knows-where. While he was trying to find the source of those words, he finally spotted a guy... In a tree. The azure eyes stared at the male for a bit before Paul grinned. "I'm coming right up... Ethan, was it?" The tall male asked while walking towards the tree. He fixed the bag on his shoulder, so it wouldn't get in the way and started climbing, reaching the other soon enough.

"It's nice to know I wasn't the only one... Did you see anybody else?" Paul asked while getting more comfortable on a thick branch that seemed to be the only one that could actually keep his weight. The azure-eyed male streched and leaned back against the trunk. If he was going to spend the night here, he should really think of some way to get more comfortable...

Ethan nods a bit watching Paul climb the tree. "Yeah that's my name. I haven't seen the others. More or less they went to a ranger station to count us missing. Worse they went home thinking we left for home first." he said looking at the sun set below the treetops. "So how did you get lost? You seemed to be the one who would most likely stick to everyone before getting lost." he asked curious.

As the last bit of sunlight vanished, Ethan pulled out a flashlight. He hung it from a branch above him that way it would shine on the two of them. "There we go. Its bright enough for us to see on another but won't attract unwanted bugs or animals.

The tall male covered a yawn and glanced at the other. "Mm? Oh, I'm not sure myself... Man, I mean, one minute I was with everyone else, and the next think I know, I'm alone, trying to find someone!" He said with a slight pout on his face. "I'm more surprised about you~ I mean, how come people didn't see such a pretty boy running away?" Paul teased with a smile. He enjoyed teasing people, just like he used to do with his little sister.

He has a sister 8 years younger than himself. He's been teasing her since he was a teenager, but it doesn't change even now. Of course, usually he gets some teasing back, but he doesn't mind at all. It's nice to have her around, especially since their parents died in a car accident a few years ago. He had to take her in until she was 18, so she was still living with him.

Ethan raised an eye brow. "Pretty boy you say. I actually wandered off on my own. I heard rushing water and wanted to check out if there was a waterfall. It was and I spent time drawing it. Though I lost track of time and the path I had taken. Here I am now stuck in a tree with you." he said with a chuckle. "Its not so bad I suppose. I won't get bored and go mad out here. I have good ol' Paul at my side." he says

"Tell me Paul. What made you decided to come on a camping trip? You don't catch me as the outdoors type." he asked. Ethan frowns a bit. "Sorry if my questions bother you. I like to know who is sharing the space and company with me. It helps me better understand whoever I am around."

Paul tilted his head and raised his eyebrows. "You draw? Would there be any chance of seeing some of your drawings?" He asked with pure curiosity in his voice. If anything, he sounded a little like a kid right now. He couldn't really help it - things like this seemed to make him curious each time...

"What made me come here?" The black-haired male chuckled and locked his azure eyes into the younger male. "Believe it or not, my little sister forced me to go. She kept on saying how I seemed to spend too much time at home, so now I'm here, lost in a forest with you!" He finished just a little bit too cheerfully. "And your questions don't bother me at all... You can ask me anything - I'm an open book~" Paul grinned and looked at Ethan. The boy seemed to be too reserved...

Ethan chuckled as he looked at him. "No way in hell Paul. If we are on our dead beds out here then sure. If we survive this then maybe. Though I am not one to show my art to anyone so easily. They say if the art is seen before reaching the gala, it looses its value by the artist's very own hands." he said closing his eyes.

"Well isn't that boring. Don't you know being an open book leaves nothing to the imagination. Its like opening a menu with no specials on the list." he said with a sigh. "I can see why your sister made you come out of the house. Anyway I am going to get some rest. I suggest you do the same." he said closing his eyes with a yawn

The tall male was hurt, at the least. "Someone's grumpy..." He mumbled out and sighed. "Listen, if you're the person I'm going to spend time alone, I don't think it'll be good to have such... Uhhh... Feelings for each other. Right now it seems you don't like, maybe even hate me... It wouldn't hurt to know each other better, really." Paul huffed and wiggled around to get comfortable on the branch.

"If you don't wish so, fine, I'll keep some things fot myself... I never said I didn't have secrets. An open book may have a meaning in between the lines, no? I like to think of it this way, Ethan..." The azure eyes were closing already as the tall male talked. "Anyway, let's hope we wake up in the morning... Sweet dreams.." Paul muttered out on pure habit. He'd always wish sweet dreams to his sister, and he rarely left somewhere alone, so it just slipped out.

"Don't be ridiculous. I don't hate anyone so easily. You in my eyes are a boring person that no longer grasps my interest. I will still dabble in small talk with you until we are out of the woods and back into society. Until then please just keep things simple. Now rest because you will need it." Ethan says.

Ethan opened his eyes as the other wished him sweet dreams. It was an odd thing for him to hear. He smiled a bit to himself before falling asleep. The night air wasn't cold since it was still early summer. This assured they wouldn't freeze or get frostbite by morning.

Paul had troubles with falling asleep. Something was bugging him, something that he'd forgotten, and it kept him awake at least half of the night. The tall male knew it was something important, yet he couldn't remember no matter how hard he tried... And the coldness from Ethan didn't help as well. Paul didn't usually have much trouble with making friends, but this guy seemed distant, for some reason. These two things kept on running through his mind until he fell asleep. It was completely dark by then.

Even so, his sleep didn't last for long. Only after a few hours of slumber, the tall male woke up with something that sounded like a strangled scream. He breathed deeply, trying to calm himself down and at the same time hoping he didn't wake Ethan. It's been a while since he last had a nightmare about the accident... The image of his parents' funeral was standing right in front of his eyes, he could nearly feel his sister clinging onto his arm. He hated these dreams so much..

Ethan was asleep throughout some of the night. He awoke close to dusk. His eyes wandering about the semi darkness. He gazed upon the other male in the tree with him. "Paul....?" he whispers as he noticed the other looked a bit destressed. He wasn't one to fully concern himself with others but this was different. If they were to survive they'd have to work together. That's how Ethan saw the situation.

He called out to Paul a few more times hoping the male would respond to him. He was worried the other would get scared and fall from the tree. They weren't high enough to fall and died. Though they were at a height where one could break something serious.

Paul could nearly feel tears gathering in the corners of his eyes. He buried his face in his palms, letting out a heavy sigh on the same time. Now he remembered... Today was the anniversary of his parents' death. It's been exactly five years now. Five years of living with his sister, five years of missing them so much it hurts, five years of feeling empty.

When Ethan's voice reached the tall male, he was startled a bit. He was hoping the other would still be asleep... With shaky hands the black-haired male quickly wipes off last traces of tears in his eyes and glanced at the other. “Did I wake you? Sorry, Ethan...“ Paul muttered out, his voice sounding half-dead. The azure-eyed male clenched his hands into fists and sighed. He hoped the other wouldn't ask about what happened...

"You looked like you were having a nightmare. That is dangerous since you are in a tree. Just be careful. We have a few more hours until daylight. Once then we can go looking for the way home." he said leaning back. Ethan could tell Paul had more than just a simple nightmare. He wouldn't pry for now. It's not like he wanted to know right now.

As he closed his eyes again, Ethan realized it was dark. He never had dreams but when he did it was one not worth remembering. His eyes flutter open as he frowns. 'Guess I'm not going back to sleep any time soon... This sucks..' he thinks to himself. Ethan stares off into the distance.

The black-haired male nodded lightly, even though the other probably didn't see it. Paul closed his eyes for a while, just until he was sure he wouldn't cry. The least he wanted was Ethan thinking of him as some kind of a weakling, a crybaby. Once the azure-eyed male calmed himself down, he straightened up against the trunk and let out a shaky sigh. If he didn't come home today, he'd feel as if he'd betrayed his parents. He had to visit the grave...

Paul turned to the other male, trailing his eyes over the graceful features. He felt just a little outclassed like this... Ethan was, well, beautiful, he couldn't say it any other way. And him? He was just some random guy, boring, even. Ethan had said it himself - for him Paul was just someone who no longer caught his interest. It actually hurt...

Ethan drifted back into a light sleep. It didn't last long as he awoke to the shine from the sun rising. He glanced over at Paul. "Hey! Wake up if you aren't already. We need to beat the sun if we are to make it out of here. If we start now we'll cover a good amount of ground." he said looking at him. He turned off his flashlight and placed it on the side of his backpack. He had used it as a cushion for his back the entire night. "If you are good to go lets climb down." he said

Ethan looked at Paul wondering how the other was feeling. He knew nightmares could take a toll on a person depending on how sever they were. Watching the other last night had him a bit worried for Paul. "If you need some time before we go just let me know. Sleeping in a tree isn't very comfortable."

"I'm up..." Paul only muttered out this. He didn't manage to fall back asleep, and he knew this meant no good for him. He would probably just slow Ethan down when he was like this. Still, he had to get home today. With sloppy movements the azure-eyed male climbed down the tree, barely hearing what the other said to him. Something about taking his time... Huh?

"It's okay, we can go. Don't worry about me, though I doubt you really are..." Paul muttered out the last words, and still, one part of him hoped the other had heard him. With a soft sigh coming from his lips, the black-haired male streched slightly and glanced up to the sky. It had to be around 9 am now. His sister must be worried by now... He promised he'd come back right after...

Ethan hoped down from the tree with ease. "Lets get going then. If you are able to try to keep up. I am going to try and get us back to our main camping grounds. At least from there we have a better chance of finding out way home. If you get tired, hungry or thirsty say so. If you die or collapse out here I doubt your family will be happy to hear it. Oh an keep up a good conversation. If campers are nearby they will hear us." he said looking at Paul

Ethan walked up to him and took hold of his hand. "I take your life and safely into my hands until we are home. I leave my life and safety in your hands. Lets both make it home in one piece okay!" he said before letting go and starting straight from the tree they were in.

Paul nodded and covered a small yawn coming from his mouth. "Sure, I'll try not to bore you anymore, Ethan." He mumbled out and followed the smaller guy. Yeah, sure, usually he was cheerful and all, but he barely slept this night... Not to mention the nightmare. And the fact that it was his parents' death anniversary. Also the fact that his sister must be worried... And the biggest of them all - Ethan.

The guy seemed nice, but he was still cold. Paul didn't know how to deal with these kind of guys! "Ethan, do you have any siblings?" He finally asked, trying to break the ice somehow. If the other would call this a "boring" question or do something like that, Paul would just give up. He couldn't strike up a normal conversation if he wasn't feeling okay with the other one... And this was far from okay.

"Siblings...? Oh right you said you had a sister. No I don't. I am an only child as of now." he said walking over tree roots and leaves. Do you have other siblings besides the sister you spoke of?" he asked as he stopped noticing some water flowing under some leaves. "Oh this is good. Fresh water meaning a stream. Lets follow it and get home faster." he said with a smile.

Ethan sure had his survival skills down pack. He was more than just covering basic survival skills. He knew more about the woods than anyone his age would. He walks calmly through the woods with Paul close behind. Despite being lost this was relaxing to him.

"No, no others. Just me and my sister..." Paul answered as he followed the other, the forest's air clearing his head. He took in a deep breath and let out a small hum. Finally he was feeling at least a little bit better... Once he heard Ethan speak, the azure-eyed male turned to him. The smile could nearly be felt in his words, it made them... Warmer.

"How old are you, anyway?" The taller male asked while fixing his backpack. He blinked off the last traces of sleepiness and focused on finding a clear trail, or something else. Who knew just what kind of things were lurking in this forest. Like his father used to say - better paranoid than dead. Of course, the snakes here wouldn't really kill them, but they were still dangerous. Paul could never understand people who'd keep them as pets...

Ethan chuckled a bit as he looked at Paul. "I won't tell you that silly. I like to keep my age a mystery. Sorry but you'll have to try a different question." he said as he stopped walking. He was a bit hungry from just waking up and not really having breakfast. "Lets stop here. We are off to a good start anyway." he said.

Finding a good looking tree stump, Ethan sat down on it and placed his back pack on his lap. He opened it up and pulled out a bowl with some fruits in it. There were tiny crackers beside them. "Would you care for any?" he asked looking at Paul.

A soft sigh left Paul's lips and he nodded. "Fine, then... What do you do for living? Do you have some other job or do you just draw?" He asked right before the two of them sat down. With pleasure the taller male took off his bagpack and put it on his lap, then covered another yawn.

"Mm? Don't mind if I do..." The black-haired male murmured out and grabbed an apple out of the bowl. He took one bite and closed his eyes, just enjoying the fresh taste for a bit. The juice seemed to be flowing out of the fruit... Paul took another bite and glanced at Ethan, waiting for his answer.

"I guess you can say I am a freelancer. I don't stay at anyone job too long because I can't keep up the different alias I make. So I eventually go off on the run and have to look for work again. This camping trip was just a way to get away from it all. Though getting lost wasn't in my plans." he said laughing. He took some grapes and began eating one after another.

Ethan glanced up at the sky as he watches a bird fly by. "If I was a bird I'd already know the path home with ease. It sucks humans can't fly." he said with a bit of a serious tone. He really wished to soar among the birds since it looked so free to him. "Asking me such a question deserves one right back. What do you do for a living Paul?"
