Ringo pulled the hat down further over his ears as an icy wind blasted past him. Why did it have to be so damn cold?! He shivered, and checked his watch; 2 more minutes, he only had to wait 2 more minutes until the bus was supposed to come. Another chilling gust brought tears to his eyes, which he quickly dabbed out with his scarf. Unfortunately, he also managed to rub an eyelash into his already-suffering eyeball, and he murmered profanities under his breath as he removed a glove to get it out. Once he was relatively sure he'd gotten it out, he peered to the street to check.

But there was a big problem because standing in the middle of the road was a man. His arms were outstretched to the headlights of the oncoming- BUS?!

Ringo didn't think twice about it. He zoomed into the street, knocking the person out of the bus' way just in time. He panted, his breath clouding, and looked at the other man with a peculiar mix of anger and joy on his face.

"What the hell, man?" he wheezed, then smiled. Ringo stood, and offered a hand to the stranger. "Be more careful, okay?"

Name: Makoto Jikoshi (事故死魔琴)

Age: 19

Personality: Makoto is shy and quiet around others. He is often under the impression that he is a burden on anyone who helps him. If someone were to break through his quiet shell, he becomes loving and devoted to anyone he lets in.

It all happened so quickly. One moment, Makoto was about to be run over, but the next moment, a man had saved him and was trying to slap some sense into him. All Makoto could do was look back at the man who helped him in pure fear. Any words that tried to come to him died even before they got to his throat. He knew the best thing to do was to accept his help, so he reached out and took the stranger's hand. Makoto knew the man was helping him, but if the man had stopped a few inches short, he'd be unable to walk for the rest of his life. Wracked by guilt, Makoto started to cry.

"i-I'm sorry, s-s-sir... I'm sorry you had to risk your life for me." he said, burying his face in the man's chest. "But why? Why did you save me?"

Ringo startled slightly, from the other person's sudden cuddle, but quickly recovered from the shock and held the other man close. "Don't worry about it, alright? You're too good looking to die!" Ringo chuckled and lifted the other man's chin with his tinger tip. He looked into his shimmering blue eyes, wiping a tear with his thumb. He really was quite good looking, with decadent maple hair, oceanic eyes, and creamy skin. "Come on, I'll take you for a coffee or something. My treat!" Ringo untangled himself and wraped an arm around his new friend.

"So tell me, what's your name? I'm Ringo, by the way."

"Makoto." Makoto said softly. He continued to hold Ringo. "Thanks again for saving me."

Hearing that Ringo would pay for him made Makoto feel horrible inside. Now this guy was spending money on him! First he nearly gets himself killed, and now he was being paid for nearly getting him killed! Not knowing how else to respond, Makoto accepted Ringo's offer with a simple nod.

"Makoto- that's a nice name," Ringo squeezed his new friend's shoulder. "Hey, don't sweat it, ok?" Ringo guided Makoto into a Starbucks, thankful to be inside. He led the other man to a corner near a fireplace, and sat him down in on of the well worn leather chairs there. "Here, let me take your coat, there isn't that better? Now, you wait here, alright? I'll go get us each a cocoa~!"

Ringo got through the line pretty quickly, which made sense since it wasn't one of the busy times of he day, sometime around three. He carefully brought back the hot drinks, setting one of them down in front of Makoto and taking the lid off his own to blow on it to cool it down.

"So, you can't have been in the middle of the road for just any reason, please, tell me why you were there?" Ringo cautioned a sip of his scalding drink. He looked with intently caring eyes to his brown-haired friend, offering a hand for him to hold if he needed it.

((Sorry if that was godmodding I didn't mean to.........?))

((It's fine. I don't really consider what you did godmodding, to be frank.))

Makoto just looked at the man. He didn't know how to respond. He got very close to tears again.

"I-I... My mother died by getting hit by a truck, and I was wondering if I could be with her again." Makoto said. "She told me before she died that no matter what happened, I'd always be able to see her, and that when my time came, we could be together again."

He cried again as he remembered his mother's death.

"I-I don't know what came over me! I'm sorry!" he sobbed.

((whew, thanks XD))

As Makoto began to bawl again, Ringo suavely switched chairs and squeezed in next too the other man, rubbing Makoto's back as he listened to the sad story. When Ringo's new friend finished talking and moved on to a steady cry, he hugged him around the shoulders and said softly, "Makoto, I'm so sorry. No-one expects death, and it stings so much when it finds someone near you. But come now," he took his companion's chin in one hand, "You should try to llook past that. Think of all the people you couldn't have helped make happy if you'd died, like me for example. It makes me happy I could help you. But not if you'd died, right?"

Makoto nodded, trying to understand where Ringo was coming from. His mother's death wasn't the only one he had been unlucky enough to witness first-hand. In fact, lots of Makoto's family had died young from accidental vehicular manslaughter, and he was speculated to be the longest surviving member of the family by a long shot by his father, who died on Makoto's 8th birthday. Makoto didn't believe any of it, though. After seeing so much death, he had nearly convinced himself that he was next, and his time would be soon. For a moment, he remained in Ringo's embrace, softly crying and trying to calm himself.

Ringo softly rubbed the back of the sobbing man next to him, a wordless comfort. Once it had seemed like the worst had passed, he curled himself more completely around Makoto and pet his head. "Don't worry," he whispered into his friend's bronze hair, "You'll make it, I'll protect you, I promise."

Ringo would've normally felt strange giving such... informal comfort to a complete stranger, but not really this time. It certainly helped that Makoto was so attractive, but the real reason was that Ringo could sort of relate; his mother was put into a coma after she'd given birth to his brother, Felix, about 9 years ago. She'd never come out of it, and Ringo could understand the pain of not having someone.

"Thank you, Ringo..." Makoto said. Makoto was starting to feel safer with Ringo as they spent more time together. He held his new friend close, smiling for the first time since the incident. After a while, Makoto turned to face Ringo.

"Do you have a place where I can stay? I had to put my parents' house of the market since I can't deal with the bills on my own." Makoto asked with pleading eyes. "Also, if you have a job, do you mind if I go with you to work to see if there are open places for me to apply for a job?"

A... place to stay? Ohonhonhon, Ringo had that one covered. He smiled coyly towards the other man, eyes blazing something hellish and beautiful. "My dear friend, I would be honored if you'd stay wih me, in my humble abode." He nuzzled his nose against Makoto's. "I wouldn't want you trying to hurt yourself again or anything. In fact, you know what? I am going to demand that you come stay with me. I'll be able to protect you better that way."

Ringo smiled and began to genlty unravel himself from the other man's arms. "Come, I'll take you there" he whispered as he stood to get his coat. He grabbed their cocoas, and almost as soon as the coffee break had begun, it was ending.

"You're the best, Ringo!'" Makoto said, his eyes glittering with happiness. "My house actually isn't that far away from here, so could we get my stuff from there before we go to your house?"

Makoto was grateful that Ringo was letting him stay. He didn't want to end up as a hobo on the streets. Also, he needed time to find jobs, and hopefully, his time with Ringo could help him accomplish that.

As Ringo opened the door for his friend, he extended an arm, smiling. "Lead the way!"

He linked arms with Makoto and allowed him to guide him to the place where he lived. They walked in silence for a little bit, clinging to one another calmly. Ringo let his head rest tenderly on top of Makoto's, and he reflected how much warmer he felt with his friend by his side.

Makoto blushed when he realized that their arms were linked. Regaining his focus, he led Ringo to his house, which was only a couple blocks away from the café. Unlocking the door for what felt like the first time in a million years, Makoto opened the door. There were boxes of his stuff lying in the family room.

"Sorry about the boxes. I'm basically done moving out. I just need to rent a truck, but I can't find a good renting company that doesn't tax me up the ass." Makoto said sheepishly.

Ringo laughed. "Hey, I could help you if you wanted, and I could bring some of my friends, we'd have you out of here in no time." He looked around, taking in his surroundings. "It's a pity you have to sell it though, it's a pretty nice place..."

Ringo trained his gaze onto Makoto. "You had any offers yet?"

"I did get an offer for it. I think it was $800000. Even though all the papers have been signed and I got all the money, the person who currently lives here had a near-fatal injury and asked me to watch over his new house for him. He told me he's being discharged from the hospital today because his operations went well. I also hadn't been able to finish moving out because of circumstances with my mother, so that person helped me pack my stuff and prepare it for being moved out before he had his accident." Makoto explained. "And please do call up your friends. I'll need all the help I can get."

"Oh, so it's already technically been sold? That-that's marvelous!" Ringo threw his gloved hands onto Makoto's shoulders and gave them a squeeze. He smiled warmly and leaned his forehead against his friend's. "Don't worry about getting you moved out, I'll help, and I know plenty of people who can help. For now, just grab what you nneed and we'll move out, ok?" Ringo winked and let go of Makoto. He picked up a box and nodded, "shall we?"

Makoto nodded, grabbing as many boxes as he could handle (only 2).

"Where's your house?" Makoto asked. "Will we need to take a bus there?"

Makoto felt honored that Ringo was helping him out. He honestly didn't expect some random stranger he met on the street to offer him help that freely. Normally it took two encounters for things like this to come up, right? Shaking those thoughts from his head, Makoto found a cart that he had left in the house to move his stuff out with and put the boxes down there. He gathered two more and put them on as well before moving to the door.

"Uh, the bus?" Ringo pondered. "We might. I mean, we could walk, but it might be a little ways. You up to it?" He raised an eyebrow to Makoto, wondering more if his friend had the means for a ticket, since he was technically homeless.

((heh I know this seems forward but I actually do have a plan for Ringo's being so welcoming teehee sorry if I was being confusing))

((I think I know where you're going. He's trying to seduce Makoto into bed with him, right? I have a plan for the future as well dealing with the current owner of Makoto's house.))

"But this thing probably won't fit..." Makoto pointed to the cart with the boxes on it. He wheeled it outside. "Forget I suggested the bus. Let's walk."

Makoto went to the sidewalk, but stopped.

"Uhhh... Which way do we go?" Makoto asked.

((er eventually, huehuehue. (pffff I may be new but I am still a hormonal fan-girl) But there's more to it than that XD And the owner plays a role? That intrigues me! hm~!))

Ringo giggled and said, "you're so cute. It's this way, about six blocks." He pointed to the right and beckoned for Makoto to follow him

Makoto followed him until they reached a street intersection. Suddenly, the moment where he almost died flashed before his eyes, and he stopped short of the crosswalk. What was going on? Was he faltering because of a mere street crossing? Was the trauma already setting in? Makoto just stood at the crosswalk, wide-eyed with fear.

"I-I... I can't do it..." he said quietly. He felt like crying again.

"Geez, why's it gotta be so windy... I don't- Makoto?" Ringo noticed his friend, shivering before the black stretch of pavement. His friend's blue eyes shone from beneath his stringy bangs, and Ringo could barely make out the words "I-I can't do it" on Makoto's lips. In the blink of an eye, he'd rushed to the shaking man and wrapped a comforting arm around him. "Hey, hey now," he said soothingly, "come on, we can get through this. Here," Ringo took Makoto's right hand in his left, and with his other hand, he prepared to push the cart. He found Makoto's gaze and muttered sincerely, "We're gonna get through this, together, alright?" He searched for some response in Makoto's dilated eyes.

Makoto held onto Ringo for dear life, his grip on the cart also tightening. He shut his eyes, and tears flowed from the corners of his eyes. He was so afraid of getting hit after the events of the day that he seemed to have developed a phobia of crossing the street.

"Please... Hurry... I don't want to die..." Makoto sniffled, trying to control himself. It was getting harder and harder to control his emotions as he realized that he had to cross that street to get to Ringo's house.

Ringo immediately picked up on his friend's heightening apprehension, and looked both ways before demanding, "on the count of three, Makoto, ok? One, two... three!"

The pair dashed across the stiped crosswalk, and in a matter of seconds they had made it to the other side. They slowed, and Ringo chuckled softly, "see, we...did it" he panted. "Not so... bad... right?
