"Sardius... Did I ever order you to capture the prince? That's right. I didn't. Your orders were to fight off the angels and com back here once you were done... Soldier, you disobeyed." The King finishe as Sardius kept his head down. He already knew what was awaiting him... The punishment for mild disobeyence like this was 100 whips. The demon slowly stood up, bowing his head lightly. "I will go to see the punisher." He said, but was interrupted by a cold laughter coming from the King. "I will punish you this time. I will even let the prince enjoy the show!"

Julian paled even further. Punishment? He did nothing wrong! Julian felt a tidal wave of anger wash over him and he bite his tongue hard to keep the things he wanted to hurl at the king from escaping. His nails dug into his palms, leaving crescent moon shapes indented in the skin.

Sardius' eyes widened as an invisible force tossed him over to the king. Without saying anything, the demon took off his shirt and turned his bare back to his King. He didn't have another option... He could only obey. Sardius bit his lip as he heard the sound of a whip being taken out. It didn't take long for the demon to feel his skin burning as the first whip hit him. Ninety-nine left.

Julina watched as Sardius was picked up and tossed over to he king. He watched, helpless as the demon took off his shirt and the king began to whip him. A small sound of protest escaped from Julian and he lunged forward as if to stop the whip from striking flesh anymore.

"Stop it! It's not his fault. I was the one that found him and I was the one that healed him! So I should be the one being punished, not him!"

"Stay quiet..." Sardius hissed out as a lazy smirk lit up on the King's face. "My, did this angel take a liking to you~? Are you going to end up like your brother?" The King mocked while hitting the demon with a whip again. A muffled cry of pain could be heard from Sardius as he closed his eyes, biting his lip. The angel was left completely ignored by the King as he continued the punishment.

His body was moving before his brain could have a chance to ask it what it was doing. Julian darted forward and threw himself in front of Sardius just in time for the whip to come down. Julian jerked and let out a cry of pain as the whip slashed over his wings and back.

The King let out an annoyed groan and stood up, moving slowly because of the heavy, black armor he was wearing. He firmly took hold of the angel's hand and pushed him back before continuing on whipping Sardius. The hits were harsher than before and the demon soon felt tears of pain rolling down and hitting the ground. The King was holding the prince by his hand, providing him from moving to the demon.

Julian beat at the demon holding him still, yelling for him to stop, to let Sardius go. Julian writhed, trying to break free of the kings hold.

Sardius bit his lip while hearing the other yell out those things. With each word the angel said, the King's hits seemed to become harder and rougher. The demon's back was already colored by red from all the blood seeping from his wounds. It's been fourty hits now... Sixty to go.

Julian finally stopped with a whimper, realizing that he wasn't helping by resisting. He hung limp in the kings grip, watching Sardius with tear-filled eyes.

Sardius bit his lip, trying to hold in his cries of pain. With each hit, a wave of pain flew through his body, only making more of the pathetic tears appear. The demon cried rarely... He hated doing so - it seemed that crying didn't suit demons. Twenty hits later, Sardius was finding it hard to keep his body from falling down. It hurt...

Julian whimpered again. He didn't know why but his heart ached at the sight of the demon in pain. He wanted to go to him, take away the hurt. The feeling was bewildering and Julian really didn't know what to think of it. Finally the angel just closed his eyes, unable to take the sight anymore. He wished he could cover his ears too but he only had one free arm.

Ten hits later, the demon's body fell limp on the ground. His hands clenched into fists as the whips didn't end. In fact, it seemed as if they were cutting deeper and deeper into Sardius' skin. The demon bit his lip to the point he drew blood from it. His silver eyes were hidden by his lids, his breathing hitching with each hit. Sardius lost count of the whips. He had no idea how long would he have to endure this torture...

Julian opened his eyes and cried out at seeing the demons body on the floor. "STOP THIS!" The cry burst from his lips as his blue eyes flashed. Water that had been resting in a cup by the throne suddenly flew into the air, swirling there. It then raced across the room and slammed into the demon kings face. Julian stood there glaring daggers at him. "Can't you see he has had enough?! Now stop this right now!" He demanded.

The King let out an annoyed groan and spat out the water before turning to the angel. His eyes were glowing with absolute hatred. Without saying a word, he tossed the angel into the wall, where he was immediately locked onto a wall. Sardius was barely able to understand what was going on by now. The only thing that he did know was that the water drops, falling on his back, they were painful. When they were combined with the whips, the demon let out an agonizing cry of pain. He was pathetic... Really, truly pathetic.

Julian thrashed, trying to break free of the bounds. Finally, he stilled and took a deep breath, focusing on the king. The water-droplets that hit the floor rose up, hardened then flew at the demon once again, sharpened tips aiming for his eyes. "I said leave him alone! You're nothing but a coward! You let countless of your people go fight and get killed while you just sit on your throne hiding!"

The King hissed in annoyance and, with only one hand gesture, made a wave of flames appear. It instantly melted off the ice and he turned to the prince. "Don't think that just because you're the prince you have a right to order me around. If you don't shut up, I'll just double this soldier's punishment. You seem as if you care deeply about him.." The King hissed out as Sardius lifted his head just enough to look at the angel. His tear-filled eyes were enough to tell he didn't want any more.

Julian glared at the king. "You said the only way you'll return me to my father is if he surrenders. Well don't hold your breath! I'm nothing to my father. He's glad to be rid of me. I've haven't been a proper prince to him ever since I told him I refuse to take part in this damn war!" Julian jerked but the bounds were too strong. "I'll do whatever you want but just stop hurting him! Please!"

"Two hundred whips it is..." The King muttered out with a smirk on his face. Sardius could already feel more tears gathering in his eyes as he bit his lip. Still, he didn't say or do anything that would possible show that he was unhappy. If this was the King's decision... Who was he to question? "And if your father really is like that... What use do I have of you? I'll let your precious demon here have you. You're worthless to me." The King growled out as the hits didn't stop. There was still over a hundred left... Sardius knew that once the king decided on something, his mind wouldn't be changed no matter what.

Julian thrashed and writhed against the wall but he was unable to break free. He glared at the king, vowing he would get revenge one way or another.

Sardius' voice died down completely as he took one hit after another. His silver eyes lost all life in them, only traces of tears indicating the pain he was in. Both his wings and back were bleeding from the countless hits. The black feathers were fluttering time at a time as the demon began counting the whips again.

Julian's sight became blurry as tears fell from his eyes. Guilt was clawing at his insides as he watched the light fade from Sardius's eyes. He bit his lip to hold back the shouts, the screams for the king to stop.

The King's punishment was finished after sixty more hits. As the eldest demon tossed away the whip dirtied by blood, he released Julian from the locks. "Take him wherever you want to. I don't care how he ends up... I think I'll ban him for the fun~" The King finished with a smirk as Sardius felt tears rolling down his cheeks again. He knew the King was cruel... But not this cruel.

As soon as Julian was released he ran over to Sardius. Tears were falling down his cheeks but he wiped them away and gently hoisted the demon up by wrapping his arms around the demons shoulders. He knew this was probably hurting but he needed to get him away. So he gently dragged him out of the room, being careful to not let his back touch the ground. He drug him down the hall and into a room. He laid him gently on the floor then locked the door.

 

Julian then returned and carefully rolled Sardius onto his stomach. Tears once again filled his eyes and spilled over at the sight of the demons back. "I'm so sorry. This all my fault. If I hadn't have just shut up it wouldn't be as bad as this." Julian sobbed. He laid trembling hands gently on the demons back and closed his eyes. A glow surrounded his whole body as the lacerations began to heal. Julian's trembling grew worse but he stubbornly kept healing. He knew if he used too much of his power it could possibly kill him but he didn't care. It was the least he could do for Sardius. Soon all the wounds were gone leaving scars. Julian then took a deep breath and gave the rest of his strength to the demon. The glow faded away and Julian's hands dropped to his side.

 

He then stood up on wobbling legs to move away from the demon who probably despised his existence. Julian took two steps before his legs gave out and he collapsed to the ground, vision going dark. His normally pale face was chalk white and his breathing was shallow.

Sardius let out a pained hiss when the angel picked him up. His skin felt as if it was burning... As for his wings, the demon couldn't feel them anymore. As if they weren't there at all. Sardius tried walking at least a little bit by himself, yet when he tried, such pain shot through his back that he let out another pained cry.

 

Once he was laid down and rolled on his stomach, the demon couldn't move a muscle. A small part of him heard the angel apologizing and Sardius tried shaking his head at least a little bit. It wasn't Julian's fault. Sardius brought this on himself. No one was guilty but him... As the demon started feeling his wounds disappearing one after another, he also felt his energy coming back. When the gentle hands were gone from his back, the demon turned to at least thank the angel, but instead jumped out of the bed when he saw the prince collapsed. "Dammit... Angels really are idiots..." He growled out as he took Julian into his hands. Now he was going to get banned for sure... Why not just do it right now? Sardius bit his lip while slowly walking out of the room. He wasn't trusting his wings for now...

 

Once the demon was out of the castle, he carefully tried spreading out his wings. He managed to do so without little pain. Sardius then slowly started flying, on the same time avoiding the murderous looks he was getting. His breathing got heavy little by little, and by the time he reached the portal, Sardius knew it wouldn't end well. He flew out where he was greeted by another set of murderous looks. Still, the guards let him through. Without a single word said, the demon flew off into the forest, hoping to find something that would help him heal the angel...
