And the dark beauty vanished inside the long' date=' thick grass.[/quote'] Needless to say that Lyall didn't hear what the merman said, but he did glance back with a look saying he thought he heard something. Shaking his head he continues on his way out without saying anything. "We caught ourselves a beast' date=' Captain. And red hair and scales are in high demand right now, and we scored ourselves one." She grinned, jerked her head to the mermaid, dead, in a cage. Her hair was bright red, scales glittered and shimmered such a glorious and beautiful red.[/quote'] Lyall laughs and slaps his first mate on the back as a sign of being pleased and praising her. "Excellent job! I knew there was a reason I kept you around and put you at the head of missions like these." He grins as he jokes with Angelica. He looks the beast over critically as he goes into a more serious mode. "If we kill it now will it still be fresh enough to sell the more 'perishable' parts in time do you think?" He knows that it'd be close if they kill it up now, but the scales will last no matter how soon or late they kill it to take them. And the scales are where the real money is at anyway. Still, waste not want not and all.
Raven's Abyss
The merman waited until the weird human was gone before coming out on the sand that had been warmed by the window and its sunlgiht it let through. He smiled and laid across it, feling little sharks scatter over his fin to clean those dark colored scales. It wasn't that bad, he just wished teh captain of the ship wasn't so mean and scary. "Since when do human cherish gems...?" He asked one of the sharks, "They only care how much they're worth... right?" The dark beauty sighed, laying across te warm sand, holding the shark to his chest softly, looking up and over to the window, out to the sky. "He says I'm different... but all the stories about humans don't fit him, except scary that is." "Excellent job! I knew there was a reason I kept you around and put you at the head of missions like these." "You wouldn't last an hour without me, Captain," Angelica said, her voice heavy with Latin accent. She tried to clear it up but it always seeped through, when she got pissed off, she'd started screaming in Latin and no one on this ship could understand a single word out of it either. Some times, when she spoke, some words were English, some were Latin. "If we kill it now will it still be fresh enough to sell the more 'perishable' parts in time do you think?" She growled, "We'll, I want to kill her and if we are going to we better do it soon. That damn sea wench bit me, played dead too." She looked over at the mermaid, water at the bottom of teh cage so she lived until killed, and she stared with such heavy hatred at Angelica. Both red-headed creatures snarled at each other. We'll keep alive until we're a bit closer so that we have some time to make sure the flesh and organs stay fresh long enough to sell. After that you can take the pleasure of cutting it up yourself and have some fun. Sound good?" Lyall chuckles feeling amused seeing his first mate having a staring match with each other. He saunters closer to the beast and stares down at it. "You know, I find it odd and hilarious that most people find your kind attractive. I see nothing but a repulsive and disgusting creature myself..." He tells it in an amicable tone, wearing a smile even. "However, I did come across another of your kind that's different from you. His coloring is dark and his torso is covered in scars. Tell me, if you're actually capable of speech, what you know of him?" He kneels down so he's eye level with the creature where he can talk easily with it, but is out of its reach.

She heard Drk coloring and scars, the red head mermaid looked down, but soon lifted her head and spoke english. "Yes... you mean Dimitri... that disgusting wench!" She spat, nearly landing on the Captain's boots, clear hatred and anger in her eyes as the reminder of the dark beauty reached her ears. "He's an outcast! Ugly like you filthy humans!" She shouted, snarling. "HIs parents died in a shark attack, those scars are from the sharks... but the Cleaner Sharks saved his tail. Both of his parents were beauty merpeople... just bright and gorgeous... but that THING was born dark and twisted." She growled lowly, the crew gathered around her, listening, even Angelica came clsoer to listen. But the mermaids eyes never left the Captain's. "While he grew, he became best friends with the sharks, other merpeople would attack him when he came to close to their homes or families. His only friends have been the sharks... "Sounds to me like you just turned him away instead of trying to help him or care for him after such a tragic attack. Losing parents in such a horrible way usually inspires some sort of compassion." No, this is a cold humorless laugh. "And you lot have the nerve to call us humans horrific. Seems to me your kind is just as bad if not worse. You value beauty so much that someone born different, likely as a result of the attack, is spurned because he's not as 'pretty' as the rest of you." He gives a cold smile to the mermaid. "That's alright though. Thanks to the spurning and torment you put him through he may be more agreeable to staying with me. I'll offer him what you refused to give him." He stands up looking down at the mermaid and slow grins. "And I seem to have found a way to make your kind even easier to catch." He pulls out a small gleaming bracelet that has gems glinting along its surface. "He may not have said anything out loud but his reaction to something in possession gave it away. It does make sense though. That your kind that values beauty would love items just like you... Cold and superficial."

She said, her face would have begged, but she was a mermaid, and the stubbornness never left her face. "You humans think we have it so god damn made... we have issues too in our world." It just so happens I noticed his liking to a necklace I have and thought to see if it applied to all merpeople. Thank you for confirming it for me." He grins putting the bracelet away. Hearing that the mermaid has children he raises an eyebrow and glances at Angelica. "Hmm, I don't know... Your coloring is particularly valuable and prized right now and I think men aren't worth as much as you females either." He drawls tapping a finger on his knee. "Am I right?" He glances at Angelica again to confirm his words as well as hint that this was a prime opportunity to catch a child. Well, if they so choose anyway. What about a child loosing their mother with a ass of a father! Please!" He grabbed the bars of the cage, claws wrapped around. Angelica winced as the woman spoke to her... about children. The woman looked down, then back at the mermaid, speaking fast Latin. The mermaid looked surprised, but spoke it back easily. Soon, the private pulled back and walked off, everyone knew never to bring the subject of "children" up in front of her... she too lost an infant, got to hold it once after birth... before it was taken from her and killed. And she went off. The crew snapped back to attention and ran off once the captain yelled, the mermaid clsoed her eyes and sighed, letting her forehead rest against the bars, mumbling to herself. Water dripping from her hair and face. Soon, she lifted up her red head and looked at teh Captain. "What will you do... if the boy refuses to trust you? Wont talk to you? FEARS... you?" She said, less despite in her voice, it was much softer. "What do you plan to do with him? Do you have the foul heart of a normal human, and will you kill him after imprisoning him?" Se laughed her sadness and smiled, "He will die in 3 days.... of a broken heart before he dies of starvation. I could hear him wail, and so far.... Have no doubt about that." He goes to watch the crew for a time to see about the preparations being taken for whatever it was Angelica had discussed with the mermaid while thinking of what he learned. He knows the merman fears him, yet he can also tell that he's just as curious and intrigued by Lyall and Lyall is of him. He's not concerned about the other talking to him, it seems as if he doesn't do much of that anyway, most likely as a result of having been shunned and rejected most of his life. Still, it would seem he has two more days to work on getting the other to at least trust him and not be afraid of him. "The biggest issue once that is accomplished is what to feed him... Would feeding him fish be considered an act of cannibalism?" Lyall muses to himself.

The female mermaid growled at the Captain, showing top and bottom row of sharp teeth, jagged and pointed. She reeled in her anger and glared, "HUman..." She waited until the catpain looked towards her, "Yes you, give this to the child you have captive..." The mermaid unhooked and toosed a sparkly, beautiful necklace from around her neck. "And the best way to gain his trust is to talk, never sho your anger no matter what he's done... ad don't bang on glass. The vibrations hurt." She tipped, "Show him jewels, shiny things, let him touch some, some only let him look. Let him trust you." "The biggest issue once that is accomplished is what to feed him... Would feeding him fish be considered an act of cannibalism?" She grinned, leaning on the bars, her back to Captain Zyall but still speaking to him. "There is a certain fruit on the island you kidnapped me from. Purple with yellow dots, looks like a pear, well, shaped like it. It will keep him healthy without the seaweed and certain foods from the sea."

After awhile his look turns unreadable as he replies. "I thank you for the information creature. In return I shall do my best to persuade my first mate that your husband instead of you and having a potential inside source of your kind is more valuable to me and the crew." Tucking the necklace into a pocket he leaves the mermaid alone and goes back to his room to check on his prize. He goes up the glass and looks to see if he's at all visible while calling out to him. "Are you there? I have something for you from another of your kind." Reaching into his pocket he pulls out the necklace and holds it high enough so that no matter where in the tank the merman is, he can easily see it. Raven's Abyss
"I thank you for the information creature. In return I shall do my best to persuade my first mate that your husband instead of you and having a potential inside source of your kind is more valuable to me and the crew." The woman mermaid smiled, easing against the bars, closing her eyes, feeling the breeze dance with every strand of her red hair. Barely watching Captain Zyall walk away through the corner of her eye, sighing with a kind smile... for once. "Thank you..." She whispered, to quiet for anyone to hear. Inside Zyall's room, when he entered, the prize was dancing in slow circles and loops, eyes closed. To make sure he didn't smack into the glass like he did before the captain had walked in, he'd move out his arms and push away from the glass, back flipping. The mermaids hums were lovely, and the beautiful smile on his scarred face seemed rarer than the red-headed-and-tailed mermaid outside on the deck. However, the dark beauty heard the door and stopped, looking at Zyall and quickly ducked into the long ass plants, giving off a oft gasp. "Are you there? I have something for you from another of your kind." The beauty looked out from the grass, parting it with both hands just enough so he could clearly see through, showing his eye and some of his face to the captain. The interest sky-rocketed as his eye caught the necklace. "If you come out and let me see you, and tell me what you eat, I'll give this to you should you want it." His cheeks flushed a gentle pink, ducking back into the grass. It took a few seconds, but the mermaid came out slowly, only a bit, then used his hands to walk across the soft sand while it sank between his fingers. His tail was beautiful, in a darker perspective, along with his lightly scared, darker body. Thin and lean, small with a huge ass tail. Though, dark beauty didn't speak, but he went up all the way to the glass Zyall was near. Pressing his small hands against the glass, looking at the necklace and the man holding it. StainedCrimson
Lyall had stopped dead seeing the other dancing and was sad when the other hid upon hearing Lyall enter the room. He smiles when the merman comes out fully. "There you are. It's a shame you stopped dancing though. Maybe after I find you something to eat you'll dance some more for me?" He asks a bit hopefully having forgotten about the necklace for a moment. Seeing the merman look at it though causes him to get a wry smile before sighing and holding it up slightly. "You don't have to speak, merely nod or shake your head. Do you eat fruit that's purple with yellow dots? What about seaweed? Fish?" Lyall lists a few things to get an idea as where to start looking for food. As he waits for an answer he slowly looks the other over almost wistfully. "You really are amazing. I do hope that you'll be able to stay with me for a good long time." Absently he plays with the necklace in his hand while keeping his eyes on the merman looking him over from head to the end of his tail and back. He shifts, his free hand going to hip as he gets a thoughtful look. "If I leave the curtains over and you get more sunlight, your color won't go changing on me will it? I like you as you are now, a dark exotic beauty of the sea." Lyall states in a firm confident voice and gives a nod to emphasize his words. He watched, listening, doing exactly as the captain ordered him to do. Nod or shake. {Seems easy enough...Fruit with dots?} The merman shook his head, he's never gone on land before and didn't understand the fruit the other male spoke of. {Seaweed?} He hesitated, but sort of nodded his head. It depends on what kind of seaweed. When fish came to his ears those murky eyes got wide and he shook his head violently. "You really are amazing. I do hope that you'll be able to stay with me for a good long time." His cheeks grew a darker pink, slowly deepening into a redish color. When Zyall moved, the dark beauty turned slightly, moving away a tad bit, but felt safe so didn't go far. He too, like the captain was to him, took in and gazed Zyall over. Head, down to his boots, and back up to his eyes, finding the human staring at him. "If I leave the curtains over and you get more sunlight, your color won't go changing on me will it? I like you as you are now, a dark exotic beauty of the sea." The enchanting creature sook hs head at the question, but stopped and his WHOLE face turned red, hands coming up to cover is mouth in embarrassment at such a complement to an ugly, or so he says, mermaid. StainedCrimson
Lyall frowns when the merman shakes his head at the fruit. "Are you saying no the fruit because you've never had it before? The mermaid that gave me this said it would hold you over until I get a hold of food from the sea for you." Tilting his head he lets out a soft hum while nodding. "No fish... I thought as much but thought I might as well try. And perhaps I should ask the mermaid about the seaweed a little more just to make sure I don't get you something that will make you sick..." He chuckles seeing the merman growing increasingly red. "And it turns out you're pretty cute to. Alright, I have some more work to do before I call off for the evening. Swim to the top and put your hand out and I'll give this to you." Lyall holds up the necklace before going to a small set of stairs that goes up to the top of the tank and has a few slots in it. He holds the necklace above the slot closest to him and waits for the merman to come over. "Are you hungry? It wouldn't be much but I could find some regular human fruit to give you if you think you can eat it."

Dark beauty looked at him nodding, he's never had it before, nor has he ever seen it. He sat down, tail curling around him much like a coiling snake, just without the infectous mouth and poison. "And it turns out you're pretty cute to. Alright, I have some more work to do before I call off for the evening. Swim to the top and put your hand out and I'll give this to you." He started to bit his lip in nervousness, besides being called... cute. He was afraid of being so close to the real thing, Zyall, but slowly pushed off the bottom with his hands. He touched the black tank cover and slowly snaked a hand out, though it was clear to see the dark beauty was quivering, sort of afraid to have his flesh open to the catpain who had shown suc rage and anger at him. "Are you hungry? It wouldn't be much but I could find some regular human fruit to give you if you think you can eat it." The merman stopped and started to chew on the inside of his cheek instead, nodding lightly. (G2g)

But that necklace is very important to me. It's a keepsake and memento, so I will need it back. I didn't mean to scare you though." He gently lets the necklace slide from his hand to the merman's and gives him a warm smile at having come up and responding to his question. "There we go. Alright, I'll see what I can scrounge together for us." Chuckling he gives the merman a playful two-fingered salute before leaving the room. After making rounds on the ship to make sure everyone is doing as they're supposed to. He yells a few orders, tosses a few heartfelt insults and basically did his role as captain to perfection. Once satisfied with how things appeared he went back over to mermaid. "You, creature. Tell me, is there a difference amongst seaweed for your kind? Also, what other things should I try to get him when I go to get him food?" He asks standing arms crossed and legs shoulder width apart. He doesn't like asking the mermaid for information but since the merman won't speak to him it's the best he has until he knows for himself. The enchanting creature felt a bit guilty for taking it, but wasn't giving it back until he was finished with what he needed it for. He felt the necklace touch his palm and his fingers enclosed around it, unable to see it, but brought it back through the whole. The merman looked excited to check it out, he started rolling it around in his hands, looking at all the pretty gems and jewels it held, wondering what mystic powers it had trapped inside those glittering stones. "There we go. Alright, I'll see what I can scrounge together for us." He looked up, saw his salute and disappeared in the weeds, but the merman stuck out a hand and waved his fingers a goodbye before retreating in completely. Adorable. "You, creature. The merwoman didn't answer for a long few moments, looking over his nails that had chnaged to a black. Most mermaids/men had mood changing nails, sometimes scales but that was one in a million chance of seeing one. Black... anger, frustration. "I do have a name, if you do not know it, ask for it." He mutters the last bit to himself a bit concerned, but then just shakes his head.
Raven's Abyss
"Yes, yes... And if you decide to call me something other than 'human' or what have you I may take that into consideration." "I suppose thats fair... good point, human." She said, grinning to herself. The mermaid's tail shifted, laying around her as he rested her back against teh silver, hard bars, notches from merpeople clawing and bitting it in attempts to escape. "Well? Are you going to tell me about seaweed and food or not? I can't do anything about your situation until my First Mate gets done with what she needs to do. She has been oddly quiet though..." The red-head sighed and spoke, tilting her head back, enjoying the sun while it lasted. "There are many types of seaweed and plants that we can eat... it depends on what he likes. Try Dragon Seaweed.... thats what we usually ate as young ones."
StainedCrimson
"I suppose that's fair... good point' date=' human."[/quote'] "I am known to make those on occasion." Lyall remarks dryly. "There are many types of seaweed and plants that we can eat... it depends on what he likes. Try Dragon Seaweed.... thats what we usually ate as young ones." Lyall gives a slow nod. That makes sense since there are different kinds of seaweed, much like fruit. So he supposes that just like humans like certain kinds of seaweed would be preferred by different merpeople. "I see. Now, is there any human fruit that would make your kind sick?" He asks wanting to make sure he doesn't accidentally makes his merman sick or poison him. Raven's Abyss
"I see. Now, is there any human fruit that would make your kind sick?" She sighed. thinking, pursing her lips in the process. "Apples make us inactive and stomach hurt. Mangoes, sometimes, depending on the mermaid, can make us rather nervous for some reason. We love grapes, red, blue, green, doesn't matter. Coconuts are fine, we tend to wash our hair with the juice and eat the white." The mermaid opened her eyes and looked at the Captain through the side, "Pears makes us sick... pineapples are just fine but we can't have to much. Because of the sweet taste we always eat to much, causing stomach pain and blistered mouths so you must feed him yourself... which would be a good bonding moment." The woman waved her hand. Private came up and leaned both hands on Zyall's back, "I could get all of that... even the seaweed you said."

"I see. This is all very helpful. Thank you." He says absently but sincerely as he thinks about what's on board and available for the moment. "I could get all of that... even the seaweed you said." Lyall looks back at her and mock gasps in shock. "And let you take all of my fun?! I wouldn't dream of it!" He laughs before lightly pushing his Private in a playful manner. "You can, however, go to the island and get those pear-like fruits she's mentioned when you go there to lay the trap for her husband or mate or whatever he is. They're purple with yellow dots. For n ow keep an eye on the slackers while I take a quick dive to get some seaweed and have some fun." He shoos her. "Go on. I know it's your favorite activity. Terrorizing the crew." He huffs at her but has a smile tugging the edges of his mouth as he turns to go take his swim. While his Private may be the best mermaid hunter they have, Lyall is nothing to sneeze at either. Taking off his shoes, coat and hat, he ties a sack to his belt before diving off the side of the ship. After the bubbles clear away Lyall loosens his knife in it's sheath, and holding it, goes off to where he's seen large patches of seaweed. Upon finding them he takes a couple handfuls of the variety of seaweed he finds in the nearby area before heading back to the ship to get pulled back aboard so he can gather some fruit and then feed his little merman.
