Egyptian/Ancient Gods RP (possible group RP)

Question:

Would you prefer the RP to be set in ancient times (this is my preference) or would you like it in modern times?

If its in modern times, then there will be limitations on your "magic" powers on account of such things not existing.

(This has just given me an idea): How about our godly powers being directly linked to the number of "believers" you have. I.e the more people worshipping you, the stronger your powers...?

Hmm...well, just because now I'm doing Ares, I would most DEFINITELY say Ancient Times- particularly with that idea of the whole 'believers' thing. Which means this would be around mid-biblical times so both Greek and Egyptian gods would still be around the same kind of height. Doesn't need to be exactly historically correct.

But I LIKE the idea of the ancient times, and the believers.

I prefer it on modern times. HAHAHA it's just cool I mean since there's this technology stuff--it's going to test how strong or how many people were still believing on them despite the change of time.

Modern times would certainly be challenging. I kinda like it... it would be interesting to see what technological adaptations the gods would have to make do with.

in regards to the believers, that would indeed be tricky, however you could argue/claim "indirect" worshipping from people who aren't necessarily "believers".

. well in my opinion, it's like they're quite surprised with the drastic change. People tend to forget them ,some worships money or etc. They had started to drift away from them that caused their powers to weaken. ANd yeah I like how they'd be shock about the techy stuffs the usual flow with that sitch.

What we could do in modern times with the whole 'believers' thing could be how strong their element is, or whatever they are specifically the god of, whatever is specifically related to that if it is being worshipped or in anything like that, then they gain power from it.

Either way (lol, it's so morbid) Ares would be powerful. Because war is so rife.

Well, either way it's certainly up for discussion... but we will have to wsit for the others who may or may not be caught up in New Year celebrations...

There's a good chance that this won't kick off for at least a few more days.. still waiting for three character sheets and I'll have to work out who the baddy is going to be :p

, as much as Ares will be powerful and just a little sadistic...mmm, I don't really want him to be the baddie cause, well, he's Ares, god of war and defence. He's diplomatic...if violent. *laughs*

Saga and I will be co-writing the baddie God stuff, so it's not going to be one of the characters... but I'm doing a bit more research into an appropriate one. ^.^

I go with ancient times~

I think is gonna be more cool cuz we choose ancient gods anyway. It would fit better if they are in their field of time! >: D

Actually i don't mind either. In acient times Sobek would probably be a bit stronger and in modern times he might as well have no power at all. He is the god of the nile river, the army and military and Fertility. Since all humans would know about the weather and how the water would retreat and whatnot. And well Fertility.....nobody really believes in such a god nowadays anyway.

But yeah, i told Squeze already but i will not be able to post my charachter sheet today. I may be able to do so tomorrow afternoon though. :(

(The 'tattoo' on his shoulder is an invision of an owl and a snake intertwined, a symbol he wears on his skin into battle for luck, done with ink each time. It is a symbol that, if he had (needed) a shield, would be depicted)

Origin: Ancient Greece

Name: Ares (Romans attributed him to Mars)

Position: Seke

Attributes and Personality: Ares is known to be a courageous and cunning god, famed for his violence, aggressiveness, as well as his quick temper and blood lust. Amongst the Greek Gods, it is highly known that he has an unquenchable need and desire for battle and combat, yet he does understand the concepts of justice and peace. All those who are considered brave by the Greeks are said to be the descendants of Ares, such as the Amazonian women, and the warriors of Sparta, who worship him above all others previous to the King of the Gods himself. He is highly intelligent and has an eye for battle strategy, yet not that on par with Athena despite his rivalry with her. Powerful, unyielding, beautiful, conniving and blunt, he is a god many fear and many others hold in reverence.

History: Ares is the son of Zeus, the King of the Gods, and his wife-consort Hera. He had two sisters, Hebe and Eileithyia, as well as a number of children that have been attributed to being the source of man's fear, panic (i.e. Phobos) and terror (i.e. Deimos) in the word. He had a number of Children with Aphrodite (as well as many others), who he was said to have ensnared with his beauty, a testament to both his cunning and his looks (and his promiscuity). Ares throughout history has not been looked upon favourably by the majority of the Greek Gods, despite his standing with mortals, due to his intensity. However, with those who are closer to him, he can be calm and even somewhat reserved, showing that the reason for a God's deity is not what becomes him.

Personal likes: War, battle, weaponary, (sex), good food and wine, destruction, strength, stability, snakes, falcons, questing mortals, a good tale, Spartans, good horses, beauty. Romans (occasionally). Oh, and he loves a challenge.

Personal dislikes: Prolonged times of peace, weak mortals, imperfection of flesh in mortals, boredom, a lack of sex, bad wine, weakness, Athena, Hercules, too much time with his sisters. And Adonis.

Personal quote: 'Should war arise, I am there to barter the bodies of men for gold; I hold in the balance the contest of the spear. I am impartial. I kill the killers; I let them wage destruction and devastation, allow them to win even, but they never escape my hands. War is my art form; the world is my canvas. You're just the gallery, so watch me make it burn.'

Precious/Favorite tool: His golden tipped spear, crafted by Zeus' own hand. Also, his favourite 'tools' are the Spatroi, his personal army of Earth-bound warriors.

Whereabouts: His palace upon Mount Haimos in Thrake.

Traits he looks in partner: Courage, strength, respect, power, willingness to experiment, (depending on his mood) willingness to give/take pain, common sense, a touch of danger, someone darker than Aphrodite.

Favorite flower: (red) Gladiolus and thyme (strength of character and courage)

Favorite activity: The art of war.

Unlikely activity: Being in a room with Athena without challenge.

I think I'm going to have the baddie god as Kronos... which I suppose I can substitute for Chaos... I was doing some reading and basically Chaos is the void from which the Universe and Greek Gods were "born" from... however, Kronos was the "father" of the Gods (Zeus et al) and he ate five of them as it was foretold that his offspring would over-throw him... and we all know how that turned out...

So I think he will be a suitable baddie... thoughts?

When you said baddie, that was what I initially thought, so it sounds good to me! And yes Dionysis sounds AWESOME. He is one of my favourite gods, lol!

Grapes, wine, drama, entertainment, literary works and sharing the title of god of music with apollo. So...yeah. *History major studied Greek mythology for two years*

So Kronos it'd be then? ^^. The thing is now we have to think a bit to make a crossover for Egyptian gods like Saga, Asakura and mine.
