lin senya Posted January 11, 2014 Share Posted January 11, 2014 Hello, everyone!! i was wondering what exactly would a normal mother's reaction be, when she discovers that her son/daughter has been watching homosexual anime (or reading manga)?! mine only knows Naruto (i was obssessd with it before discovering yaoi) and she thinks all anime are about ninjas!! she's too much of an extremist when it comes to morals, so, only imagining what her reaction would be like is creeping me out!! *literally shaking in fear* my parents are extreme catholics... being their fudanshi son isn't that great!!! i would like to hear your honest opinions!! *winks* Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I'm not entirely saying my mom's a hypocric, but sentences do come out her mind "yeah, homosexuality is alright...for other people's daughters". I'm too old for her to tell me not to watch yaoi stuff, but she'd probably ask me my I feel I need to watch such stuff and then she'd probably eye my bookshelves filled with manga with fear... I think she would consider my yaoi fixation as a temporal, experimental stage in my otherwise "normal" development. My mom, although she tries her best to be supportive of a variety of people and orientations (I have a lot of gay friends, as well as friends that aren't restricted to rigid self-definitions of 'straight'), I think she harbors a secret anxiety regarding my 'potentially queer' preferences. For the most part, since I am a shrugging hetero, and somewhat of a gay wannabe, she seems comfortable enough. But, if she were to find my yaoi stash, she simply just wouldn't get it, sweet as she is. I do worry... I really believe my mom is comfortable with gay people, and supportive of free love. But, I think she is afraid of my being gay, of it being a disadvantage for me...and I think she would see my yaoi obsession as a variation on the theme of questioning my sexual identity, etc. sigh oh well - - - Updated - - - Meh. - - - Updated - - - Please Register/ Sign In, in order to see the links. I mean it honestly. This is no joke. This really has happened many times. She always suggests that she drives the bad spirits out of me and I'll be "freed" from my sins etc. etc. This is why I'd prefer to let her think that I'm just your ordinary guy without any weird fetishes about animated gay-porn. LOL. Pisses me off at times, but well, it's not like I have to live with her under the same roof so... With all respect to my mother who I love, even though she's a bit odd at times, hahaha. As for question of what if your mum found your stash take a look at her bookcase, I mean really look and read the jackets on some of them. Those 'romance' books ain't so clean themselves, Mills and Boon anybody - that stuff is... well have a read you'll see. When my mum asked me what I was reading one day when I was over at their house I just replied "gay romantic manga" which sounds a little better than yaoi or BL. Some of her favourite films are about gay couples (for example she really loves The Wedding Banquet). ^^ When she found out I watch yaoi she was just like "you're my daughter after all". She wasn't surprised at all. I think I was more shocked I'm proud of my mom, she is so open-minded. She's the only adult around me who thinks it's normal for two males who love each other to live a happy life, to have sex, to adopt chirldren, etc. And she thinks gay couples are cute. But they do not care (ᗒᗜᗕ)՛̵̖ when my uncle found out about my obsession with the BL was great because he was with his boyfriend at the time! (；-◞౪◟-) If one day my mother hears about this, it is most likely to accept it because it also has accepted the preferences of his brother!
