SqueezeBabe
"Ladies and Gentlemen" the voice over the speakers announced, there was the hiss and crackle of static, the sharp whine of feedback before it commenced again, "Ladies and Gentleman, on behalf of Bowman Enterprises we would like to welcome you all to join us in celebrating the find of the century! The showing of the worlds largest natural sapphire, the "Ocean Star"!" There was a smattering of polite applause, and a hushed murmur through the crowd. The cream of high society was present at the viewing and Perry Richardson was one of them. A striking, debonair figure, he made his way easily through the crowd, flirting shamelessly with women and men alike. He was tall and well-built, filling out his tailor-made suit perfectly, dark red hair slicked back and his green eyes flashing with amusement; he was "louche". He snagged a glass of wine from a passing try, drinking it easily as made small talk with Sir this, and Dr that; to be honest they all bored the shit out of him, and as far as he was concerned beneath him on the social ladder. He was one of the richest people in the room and the most eligible bachelor on the market, but despite his eligibility he refused to settle down, preferring his playboy lifestyle. This event was a display of snobbery, the worlds largest sapphire on display for society to ooh and ahh over and congratulate themselves. He politely excused himself from his fellow companions, something about needing to use the bathroom for a moment... The crowd slowly made their way to the ballroom, where in the center was a glass cabinet covered by a blue velvet curtain, the bright lights reflected in sparkles off the silver threads. The microphone squealed again and everyone fell silent and the lights went down, shrouding the room in darkness. "Ladies and Gentlemen, the moment you've all been waiting for! The "Ocean Star!" A spotlight illuminated the glass cabinet and the velvet curtain was removed with a flourish to the collective gasp of everyone present. The cabinet was empty. ideduce
Isaac tilted his head. The blonde moved back hearing the murmurs. He went around the corner taking off his tie fed up with the thing already. He pulled out his cell phone and dialed hastily. "It happened again Des," he stated calmly. "Does anyone know how to make a decent sting operation? Look I'm not assigned to that case. Not my division," "Besides it doesn't fit the modus operendi," Isaac stated taking off his shades. "I don't understand French," Desmond grunted over the phone. ".......It's Latin you idiot. Just get down here I think he might still be here," Isaac whispered. "That's rather sexist of you, yeah fine but you owe me a jazz mix tape, coffee, and a thank you for babysitting you." Des growled at him. Isaac just hung up and went to the windows looking around. He couldn't possibly watch all the exists and that annoyed him. Yet the air of danger made the back of neck hairs stand on end a bit. It wasn't long before a green Lincoln parked a block away. Desmond was already smocking and keeping an eye out he doubted a thief would linger, but he did want to reassure his chicken of a friend that he was safe. He walked in trying to keep a low profile and glanced over at Isaac. Already he saw that his friend wore his emotions on his sleeve. Isaac's shoulders dropped and he looked a bit more at ease with his surroundings. Desmond decided to move around the crowd a bit see if anyone didn't fit the majority profile. It wasn't like he could get to any of the other rooms, security had everything locked down pretty tight. It was only thanks to Isaac he was allowed in. SqueezeBabe
There hadn't been enough time for him to leave his usual calling card, but he'd pulled the job off nonetheless. The blue gem fit easily in the palm of his hand, exquisitely cut into the shape of a teardrop. He wrapped it carefully in a small black velvet bag, tucking it into the pouch around his waist. He was wearing a black, close fitting body suit; he'd been wearing it under his tuxedo, and was currently pulling equipment from a nondescript duffel bag that he'd hidden in the last stall of the women's bathroom. All he needed to do was to take the cover from ceiling vent above him, climb through the ducts until he made his way to the roof, where he would then either zipline or base jump his way to safety depending on how reckless he felt. He tucked a small wireless communicator into his ear, tapping it a few times until it crackled softly. He stepped into the parachute harness, custom made to fit closely against his body, less parachute and more wing-suit really, it would be the key to his eventual escape He checked his watch, he didn't have much time before the building went into completely lock down. He eased the cover off the ceiling duct and athletically hoisted himself upwards, All that gymnastics training paid off he thought to himself with a grin, balancing himself so he could ease the cover back into place. He peered downwards through the vent, carefully looking for signs that would give him away; the duffle bag and already been kicked down towards the first bathroom stall, it now being completely empty, even if it was completely pulled apart, every fibre analysed, there would be nothing, no powders, no dirt and no fingerprints. He silently pulled himself upwards through the ducts, listening carefully for any sounds that would signal that he'd been discovered. He'd already memorised the path he needed to take and half an hour later he had made it to the rooftop. Balancing precariously above the intake fan, he eased away the cover, stepping out into the cold dark night. He swiftly made his way to the edge of the building, stopping short to assess his surroundings. Would they send a police helicopter this time? Would detectives come crashing through the door to the rooftop shouting "Stop! Police!" and brandishing their firearms? He snorted quietly to himself, and made a final check of his harness, making sure that it was secure around him. As reckless as he appeared to be, he didn't want to die making his escape, things were certainly less amazing that way. He peered over the edge of the building, the wind tugging at his body. He could see the police cars, their lights flashing, bright against the sullen orange glow of the street lights. He checked the direction of the wind, and carefully walked to the opposite side of the roof, and crouching down on the ground, made his final checks. The wind gusted slightly behind him and a smile lit up his face, he could hear the sounds of people hurrying up the stairs. He took off at a run, picking up speed as he raced across the rooftop, he took a leap and swan dived off the edge of the building.
ideduce
Isaac had dropped his drink in shock seeing a body drop. He took a step back and it caught the attention of Desmond who was more surprised at the wing gliders. Desmond walked closer to Isaac and soon there were flashes around them. "Is that him?" "No, one has ever seen him before Des." "We see him now." "Him?" "Even from the distance yes that's a male. Tone but not overly built. Streamline," Desmond explained. "He has to be to do that," "Know any daredevils?" "One," "Oh?" "Me," Desmond made his way to the security who seemed like headless chickens to him. "Give me a party list, staff list, floor plan, and a light." He stated taking out a cigarette. When asked questions he flashed his Interpol badge, and read documents that pertained to the event. He matched faces and names. Who was messing? Anyone? This party was too VIP to have outsiders and he knew that. The security to tight to just sneak in so easily. The person in question had to have been here already, or worked there. All the workers were present which surprised him yet again. It didn't matter though the man made an error. Whoever he was didn't calculate the Desmond factor. He gave the documents back and walked over to Isaac. "Took the case?" Isaac asked. "Oh, yes. I've needed this for a long while now. I can finally go back to the wife," "Whore," Isaac grumbled. "Sleeping with the taxi driver she met yesterday when you didn't pick her up." Isaac kept his voice down. "You are so full of it," Desmond shoved Isaac. "Fine, don't believe me," "Tell me about Perry Richardson," "Spoiled richie, like everyone here. Why?" "He's missing," "He was here," Isaac claimed. "You've been wrong before," "Like when you caught your wife cheating wrong?" Isaac asked, and he received another shove. "I'm going to try something but I need you're assistance," "I'm not an agent," Isaac replied. "But your prowess of deduction are unmatched," "I'm not getting in any sort of danger for you Des," "I'll give you one hundred grand," ".......You're fucking with me," "Nope," "Fine, what do I do?" Isaac sighed. With that Desmond whispered in his ear, and Isaac seemed little to not impressed with his scheme at all. He waved his friend off and started to walk out. "Not today though," Desmond called after him. "Right, and check on your wife." Isaac left already done with the party. It wasn't long before everyone was ushered out now. The police trampled the scene and all Desmond could do was wait for them. It annoyed him to no end. Naturally no one found anything, but that in itself was a clue to Desmond. He wanted to find were there was the most nothing around. If there were prints from the party he wasn't interested. That meant too many people had been there. He checked the place were the gem was held before the case was opened. Eventually officers crowded him but he didn't seem to mind a handful of them. The room was immaculate. He looked up and checked the vents. Dust, but not settled dust anymore. Someone had been in there. Desmond smirked to himself and he followed the vents to a spare room. The door still locked and had to be opened. Desmond felt the seats. All room temperature. The thief never sat down so he did this quickly. "He was on the roof and he wanted someone to see him. A bit of a show off. I suppose we all have our vices," he let out a stream of smoke. "So any leads?" "Nope," Desmond lied. "I can explain how he did it but that's all boys. Enjoy yourselves." With that he made his way back to his car and drove home. The following day.... Isaac drove up to the mansion in his black bentley. He waited to be allowed wondering in if he'd get any time with the man. He looked to the butler when asked who he should say was here to meet him. "Isaac Mueller, attorney." he gave the butler his coat.
SqueezeBabe
The water felt cool and refreshing against his skin as he floated lazily on his back with his eyes closed. He'd just finished swimming his laps, it was what he did to keep his body in the perfect condition it was in. He heard the sound of footsteps echoing and he cracked open an eye to see who it was. "What is it Alfred? Can't you see I'm busy?" he said, raising an eyebrow at his butler. "Very good Sir, you have a visitor. One Isaac Mueller. Shall you see him in here Sir or in the garden? Tis a lovely day and all that." The Butler was already holding out his white terrycloth robe for him, so it seemed that receiving his guest in the garden was what he was going to do. He grinned at Alfred, "Why, the garden sounds like a smashing idea!" The gardens of his estate were tranquil, the soft perfume of flowers, the gentle bubble of the fountain, made it the perfect place to sit and read, or sit and receive guests it seemed. Alfred had already laid out a tray of tea and biscuits, all he had to do was sit down and wait. He sipped his tea almost daintily, one leg folded over the other, and waited for his guest. ideduce
Isaac was eventually escorted to the garden. He looked around the serene place. Were this any other time he'd piss in the flowers and blackmail the man into ruin. Though this man kept his nose clean. In his eyes his friend was barking up the wrong tree. The worst this man has done was sleep with too many people. How utterly boring. He glanced at the Mr. Richardson. "I apologize if I interrupted something," he smiled warmly. "Isaac Ashram Scott, attorney." This man was also known as 'The Shark'. He started off in his own firm playing both prosecution sides and defense sides. It was said he knew everything about everyone and once he smelled blood blood he latch onto his target and never let go. Criminals claimed he was a psychopath, but esteemed doctors joked he was afraid of everything including his own shadow. It was rather interesting. The biggest fear most people have is public speaking and the man that fears everything doesn't fear that. Now after seven years he is the most acclaimed attorney in the states and most of Europe. If there was one thing he loved to do it was travel. "I bet you're wondering why I'm here. It has to do with a certain jewel thief." he waited pleasantly for the other to respond. SqueezeBabe
He chuckled at the attorney, "I never "wonder" anything" he said with a grin. "However, enlighten me as to what the nature of your visit is..." he arched an eyebrow over the rim of his cup, watching this Isaac Ashram Scott carefully as he took a sip of his tea. He was prepared for all manner of questions, his alibi was water-tight, his heist had been executed perfectly; he wouldn't have done it any other way. He shifted his legs, recrossing them, his robe opening slightly to reveal a long, muscular leg and a hint of chiseled chest.
ideduce
He sat down and moved his leg when Perry moved his. Only he moved his in a four like pattern, resting his a.rm on it. He pushed up his sunglasses. "I missed you at the party. At least the second half." he leaned back. "I'll spare you the delicacies. Where exactly did you go?" he asked calmly and gently. SqueezeBabe
He swallowed his tea. "Ah that," he said amicably "I think you'll find that I had a terrible case of indigestion, and had to excuse myself for immediate medical attention..." The beauty of his plan, was that he actually was with the resident medical physician, up until the point where in the ensuing confusion he'd excused himself and made his escape. "I'm sure Dr Willoughby will be more than happy to provide you with the details...
ideduce
Isaac doubted his friend more and more now. "i'm sorry to hear that." he'd check in to make sure that was true after his visit. He got up and turned texting quickly. It made no sound. "If someone should trouble you sir I'd like to offer my assistance to you." He turned back keeping his phone behind him. It buzzed in his hand and he looked at it. "It seems my friend would like to speak with you after all then. You see he has a notion of trapping a thief. Provided your assistance." he smiled. SqueezeBabe
He placed the cup down onto it's saucer with a faint clink, "Your friend would like my help, to trap a 'thief'? What assistance could I possibly render in this instance, and more to the point, what assistance are you offering to me?" He was slightly wary now, and whilst it was possible to factor in all sorts of possible scenarios, one couldn't factor in all of them. Had he slipped up somewhere? In some minute and impossible way? ideduce
"Like I said before. If you're to be harassed by police and Interpol you'll want me in your court. Trust me," he stretched a bit. "He'll be here with the details you seek. I was just placed her as an intermediate. Though if you don't want to help it's best to say it now. That way I can contact him and have him turn his car around, or rather his wife's car around." he said the last part a bit more quietly.
SqueezeBabe
He arched a perfect eyebrow once more. "I'll think you'll find Mr errr Scott was it? I'll think you'll find that I am seldom harassed by anyone..." The attitude of the attorney perplexed him slightly, it seemed that he had some sort of "relationship" with whoever it was that was on his way to interview him; enough of one to know the intimate details of the others marriage... He mentally rubbed his chin. The man had said Interpol and that, in itself, was exciting enough for him. He blatantly adjusted himself in front of the attorney and gave him a rather wicked grin. "I am more than willing to help the authorities with their inquiries" he purred.
ideduce
It wasn't long before Desmond showed up. "Everyone looks cozy," Desmond was confused. "I've got a lead to follow for you later, also, my hundred grand?" Isaac asked. "Oh, thanks. Here." he tossed a candy bar to him. isaac caught and looked at the 100 grand bar. He pursed his lips. "You're getting rusty." Desmond smiled at him. Isaac looked up at him with pursed lip. He looked away and licked his lips. "Guess the anger management did help." Desmond rubbed salt on the wound. "Now then. Mr. Richardson." Desmond sat down. "Don't worry about us we're friends," "Sometimes," Isaac sat down next to Desmond, it seemed he forgave him already. "I was wondering if you'd hold a charity. With naturally Zeals. A blind auction over some diamonds. In short I'm trying to ask your assistance in setting up a sting operation with the same VIP list. Please."
SqueezeBabe
He watched the exchange between the two with some degree of amusement. "You would like me to host a charity event, with a blind auction over some diamonds as the main attraction?" He raised his eyebrow once more; his facial expressions were getting a work out this morning, "Are these diamonds going to be real or just pretty pieces of glass?" He reached for his teacup once more, "To be fair, most of the guests on that list would rather die than be seen at anything that I've hosted, and to be completely honest, I rather wish that someone of them would... but that's neither here nor there, rivalry between the old money and the "new"... you know how it is..." He took a healthy swallow of his tea. "Would you like a drink MR...?" He smiled sardonically, the newcomer hadn't formally identified himself yet... ideduce
"Just call me Desmond. I'm nobody." "New money, and you don't catch a thief with fake goods. If that was true we'd be doing it more often," Isaac stated. "Who's new money?" Desmond looked at him. "The three of us. Obviously," "Oh. what?" Desmond looked at him. "Mid twenties early thirties male, Possible military background more likely raised by military male figure. Muscles are relaxing. He wasn't taking a hot bath he was doing laps. Also obvious from the smell of chlorine from the pool and lack of product in his hair. I say he's new money based on what he just said. Also the people at the party were older than me, and well they wouldn't look at me twice unlike Mr. Congeniality showing off a bit of leg, but you now have proven to be the alpha male in the room and now he's being more cautious. Old money wouldn't give a damn because they're too stupid to have a bit of restraint were people like us know when to show a shred of respect when something is interesting. Also I'm not sure old money finds anything interesting unless it's blackmail." "Or his butler has a military background." Desmond pointed out. "......I forgot about that possibility," "Because you don't have a butler," "Sometimes I hate you," "And sometimes you eat your candy bar so you're less irritable." Desmond replied. Isaac pursed his lips and opened up the candy bar to eat it giving in. His eyes though said he wanted to punch his 'friend' in the face. Either these two were amazing friends, lovers, or somehow screwing each other over and one was waiting to win. Maybe a combination. "That may be true but even old money knows they have to do things they don't like when it comes to being in good standing with the community." Desmond replied. "Why did you go to the party?" Isaac asked.
SqueezeBabe
He threw his head back and laughed, "You two sound like Sherlock Holmes and Watson" he chuckled, lips twisting into a smile, "Yes, I am part of what they describe as "new" money. My money was made, not inherited," his smile grew wider, "I was in the pool before you gentleman arrived, I find that a swim does wonders for the mind and body. However, Alfred is... just a butler... a very good butler." He poured himself another cup of tea before continuing. "I was invited to the party. My philanthropic efforts were responsible for the acquisition of the gem, so it seemed only fair that I should attend it's grand unveiling." He took a mouthful of his tea, savoring the now stronger brew on his tongue, "Does that answer your questions?" he asked, smirking ever so slightly. ideduce
"Well that's a new one. My wife calls us Abbit and Castello." Desmond stated. "I prefer Moriarty.....I'm the better read one," "Are you flirting?" Des looked at him. "....You're the one who gave me an aphrodisiac." he held up the candy bar. "Cute. He's a pro filer as well. In my opinion his mother never hugged him enough and he's a life ruiner don't give him any information. Also, are you going to help us with the sting operation or not?" Desmond asked. ".....Oh god you slept on the sofa again." which meant to Isaac he caught his wife cheating. "Bad timing Isaac." Isaac looked off shutting up and it seemed he'd stay that way. SqueezeBabe
He wisely kept his mouth shut during that particular exchange, but took careful note of it nonetheless. So Isaac was a profiler as well as an attorney... it seemed a useful combination, and the other, Desmond, well, he was just a different kettle of fish all together. He put his cup down for the final time and stood slowly. "Walk with me gentleman, I feel the urge to return to my pool, we can talk whilst we walk..." He didn't bother to wait to see if they followed, but began talking as if they were. "Tell me more about this sting operation you had in mind? What exactly do you need from me?" ideduce
Isaac stayed quiet. He felt like he was in his friend's way and because of that he stayed considerable distance behind them. The two got smaller and smaller and soon he was going another way all on his own. If they asked he'd say he was trying to find a bathroom. "I'd have to forfeit a check to obtain diamonds naturally. All I'd need for you to do is hold a blind for it and i'll be watching it to catch the culprit. I find it interesting though. He'd have to have money." he was still certain Perry was his man. "Training, and equipment doesn't come cheap, and you can't exactly just learn to do those things on your own." He watched him carefully.
SqueezeBabe
That Isaac and trailed off and disappeared was not lost on him, the surveillance in the estate would pick him up no matter where he might end up. As he walked up to the edge of the pool, he turned and grinned at Desmond, "You seem to be looking rather closely. Do you like what you see?" he asked with a smirk as he slowly removed his robe. He walked around to the diving blocks, and climbed atop of one of them. "Sure," he called out as he positioned himself, "I'll play your little game. I'll host a party like none other, hell, I'll even chip in the diamonds myself." and with that, he dived cleanly into the water, surfacing some distance down before lazily stroking to the far end. Whilst his form moved elegantly through the water, a thought occurred to him, how exactly was he going to steal from himself and not get caught doing it? ideduce
He looked him over and then looked off. It was true he was feeling rather hollow after what he wife had done....Again. SqueezeBabe
He hoisted himself up the edge of the pool, water falling from his well muscled body. He'd only really wanted to get wet again, so one lap was enough for him; he'd already done the serious part of his workout for the day. He walked back over to Desmond, picking up a towel to dry off his face, slowly rubbing the towel over his body to pick up the droplets of water than clung to him. "I"m not in the habit of repeating gossip I assure you. Now, perhaps you'd like to help me find your friend and you both can stay for a spot of lunch whilst we talk business..." ideduce
"My fr-" he looked around only now realizing that Isaac snuck off. "If I didn't know any better I'd say he's the thief." he never could get use to Isaac's vanishing and reappearing acts. Though he knew that Isaac wouldn't be the one to jump off a building, and he did see him at the party so that ruled him out. Though What he didn't know was that the thief was out thieved by another thief that night. "I wish I understood the motive. His MO is a bit lude." SqueezeBabe
He put his arm congenially around Desmond's shoulder to lead him back out. He pressed a button on the side of the wall, and as they walked down the hallway, Alfred appeared. "Yes Sir?" "Alfred, be a dear and organise a spot of lunch for us please, oh and see if you can't locate that other fellow, Isaac and bring him with you.... and clothes Alfred, I can't sit around in my togs all day." He continued to lead Desmond back out into the garden, there was a nice pergola arrangement that would be perfect for entertaining his guests.
