Aoi bit into his cherry pie, his eyes not leaving the handsome baker smiling behind the counter. It was closing time, but the popular and brightly lit bakery HI-CAN-GO was full of people. He’d overheard the baker’s name, Karyou. Aoi’s palms became sweaty when Karyou’s eyes wandered and met his again, holding. Aoi blushed and hastily looked away, distracted when his Smartphone buzzed for the fifth time. It was a text from his close friend Shun. Where are you? Want to come over and watch a film? Aoi quickly texted back where he was and then glanced up, his throat becoming dry when he found Karyou suddenly standing right beside his table. His cheeks heated up. Karyou smiled and Aoi’s heart began to beat faster. “You must really sweet things- you’ve tried almost all my creations this afternoon.” His deep voice made Aoi’s pulse quicken. Nervously running a hand through his blond hair, Aoi smiled shyly. “They all taste wonderful. You’re…fantastic. I…” His phone buzzed and squinting down, he saw that Shun had texted back to say that he was on his way to pick him up. If he wanted to make a move, he had to do it then. Aoi swallowed as Karyou’s kind smile widened. “Thank you. I haven’t been working as a professional that long, but I love baking.” He winked. “I’m glad I have such a cute fan.” Aoi bit his lip nervously. “I…” his voice shook. “I-I…would love to learn m-more about you. Would…?” He gulped, scratching the back of his head as he looked into Karyou’s face, hastily looking down. “Would you like to come to my apartment for a drink?” he whispered in a rush, blushing. A flicker of surprise passed over Karyou’s handsome features at the question and Aoi quickly stood up, stumbling over his own feet. “I’m sorry. I…I have to go-” He was being rejected, he had to get out, this was horrifying- “I’d really like to go have that drink,” Karyou’s calm, deep voice startled Aoi as former placed a hand on his shoulder, halting Aoi’s hasty leave. Karyou jerked a thumb over his shoulder. “If you wait ten minutes, I’ll close up the bakery.” Aoi breathed out a sigh of relief, a sweet smile spreading over his face. “Of-of course! I’ll…I’ll wait outside- see you soon!” he laughed with joy, almost falling over his feet as he hurried out the store. Once outside, Aoi quickly texted Shun back that he had already left. Moving from one foot to the next, Aoi stuffed one caramel sweet after the next into his mouth as he waited for Karyou to come out. Just as Karyou was heading towards him and Aoi’s pulse quickened, Shun turned the corner of the street and saw Aoi smiling at an unknown man in a way he’d never seen Aoi smile before.

not reply when he text, just what is going on? Suddenly, his phone buzzed and a

 

smirk appear at the corner of his mouth. 'Yeah, I should've known. The *bakery* that

 

is so popular these days. That's so like him'. His sweet loving friend must be chowing

 

down one sweet after another with a smile on his face. But isn't it a bit odd for Aoi

 

to not text him back just because he was at the bakery the whole afternoon? Anyway,

 

he decided to pick him up and text that he was on his way. A faint blush can be seen

 

on his face as Shun walks to the bakery and thinking about his friend at the same

 

time. It's the sweet loving nature of Aoi that brought them together as friends in the

 

first place.

Thinking back, as a transfer student on the senior year of high school, Shun doesn't

 

have a friend to start with. It was Aoi who called upon him with a timid look on his face

 

to pair up with him in cooking class. "Let's make sweet things together" Aoi said

 

smiling brightly. It took only a moment for Shun to realize that he was dumbstruck

 

because of the smile. They've been friends ever since but as time went by, Shun

 

developed a little secret which Aoi doesn't seem to notice. That's why Shun followed

 

him when Aoi applied for Graphic Design Major in University.

'HI-CAN-GO Bakery, right'. His phone start to buzz again. A text from Aoi. 'Already

 

left' really? He's close to the bakery now so he decided to go for that direction anyway

 

in hope of catching up with the blond. When he finally turns the corner of the street

 

where the bakery is, he saw Aoi, smiling, to a guy he'd never seen before. 'Aoi...'.

 

The auburn teen was taken aback by the dazzling smile of his friend at the unknown

 

man. 'Just who is that guy'.

Aoi smiled at Shun carefully. He was glad his friend had come along, but wasn’t sure how he felt about Shun being there with him and Karyou. After all, Aoi felt attracted to men and Shun didn’t know about that. How would he react if Aoi was “a little too friendly” to Karyou? Would he be disgusted? Not want to be his friend anymore? After all, Shun was a really cool, easy-going guy, but wouldn’t he react differently once he knew about Aoi’s inclination? As Shun and Karyou easily began to chat about this and that, Aoi could feel his nervousness taking the overhand.

 

He hardly spoke a word as he unlocked the door to his apartment on the second floor and let them in. “The living room’s over there,” he said, waving a hand quickly in the general direction, not looking either in the eye. He could feel Karyou’s gaze on him and blushed, mumbling something as he turned around. Shun made a joke and former laughed. Aoi sighed inwardly. Shun was so cool- Karyou would probably like him much more by the end of the evening. If only. If only I were a little more assertive. “I’ll go fetch us something to drink. Is beer alright?” The others nodded and Aoi hurried off.

 

Returning with beer, junk food and some easy music, Aoi found the other two laughing together. Feeling rather left out, Shun sat down on Karyou’s other side, relieved when the baker winked at him and involved him in the conversation. But Aoi was just too nervous to speak long and began to drink one beer after another. It wasn’t his usual behavior and as the alcohol began to course through his veins, Aoi became bolder and spoke out, trusting himself to make one or two jokes himself. But when he saw Shun’s concerned face, Aoi realized what had happened: He was drunk.

As Shun was watching the two, the other man seem to notice his stare and walk towards him and said 'Hello'. "Hi, yeah, I'm Aoi's friend. I was hoping to spend some time with him tonight". It seems they're going to Aoi's place after all and the guy named 'Karyou' is inviting him to come along. This brunette guy must be really something as a shy one like Aoi to invite him to his house. Maybe because his friend wanted to learn more about sweets considering Karyou is a baker. Shun glance at his friend and notice that the blond looks a bit nervous. "Is it really alright for me to be with you. I don't want to bother if it's something important". Truth to be told, he really wanted to go with them so when Karyou said it's fine and smiled, he was really happy. "I'm Shun, nice to meet you Karyou-san".

 

With brunette hair, soft features, deep and caring voice and kind personality, Shun found Karyou quite attractive. By the time they arrived at Aoi's apartment, the two became really close. Aoi brings beers and snacks for them but his friend didn't talk much during the whole time. As the night went on, Shun notice that Aoi's been drinking beer continuously and his drinking habit starts to show off. That's when he knows that the blond was drunk. Shun doesn't want his friend to be out of control so he grab the newly open beer from Aoi's hand and gulp it down in one go, afraid that the blond might take it back from him. Karyou was looking at him and Aoi began to panic. Oh God, he probably thinks I’m an alcoholic. This thought only made him even more nervous and he reached for another can of beer, but Shun took it from him. By then the room was beginning to spin and Aoi felt light-headed. It had been a while since he’d drunk so much. The evening was ruined- he’d planned on asking Karyou to meet with him some-time later that week, but he’d totally messed up. And Shun, it seemed, was just as wasted. When Karyou volunteered to put them in bed, Aoi was relieved- he probably wouldn’t make it to his bed by himself.

Feeling pleasantly surprised when Karyou picked both him and Shun up at the same time, Aoi breathed in deeply when his nose pressed against Karyou’s back. The mixture of the baker’s aftershave and sweet cooking smelled delicious. Something stirred in Aoi’s lower regions. As he fell backwards onto his bed, his blood beginning to flow in the opposite direction, Aoi’s throat became dry as Karyou started to undress him.
