BlaqueCatt
Name: Yin Age: Ancient, appears 21 Uke Description: Yin stands at 5’3” in height and weighs 120 pounds. He has a thin, lean build, with long arms and legs that make him appear taller than he actually is. His small, rather lithe figure makes him fast and agile, but he lacks strength; he tends to seem fragile and delicate. His skin is extremely pale, almost paper-white, and his eyes are an intense icy-blue color that shine brightly in the light but glow dark-blue in the darkness. His hair is as white as his skin, maybe even more so, and is long and straight, the tips reaching his tailbone; he normally keeps his hair tied in a single braid or high-ponytail that he drapes over his shoulder. His bangs fall to just above his eyes. He has pointed ears and canine teeth. He dresses in white pants tucked into furry white boots, a white long-sleeved shirt, a white belt, and a white cloak with a cowl-like hood, held together by a silver clasp by the neck. Whenever he initiates his abilities, there are subtle appearance changes; his pupils become white, and a small, light-blue crescent moon appears in the middle of his forehead, very faint but still noticeable. Personality: Yin is a very quiet and soft-spoken person, his voice almost always a whisper, never rising above normal tones. His is extremely shy around strangers, especially humans, but finds them fascinating and wishes very deeply to become friends with one. He has a gentle nature and finds comfort in helping others. He is passive and hates fighting, only using his abilities to defend, never attack. He is very curious, unfamiliar with the human world, though he would love to learn more about it. However, whenever he sees a human he hides, too nervous to approach them. Unfortunately, his passiveness leads to him being pushed around a lot by other elves, and he has never been accepted in his community due to his differences. History: Yin was born on December 21st in Germany, where the first elves came from. He has two older brothers and a younger sister. He lived with his mother, father, and siblings for many years, and he was not outcast until after his coming-of-age ceremony, when he failed the test and it was realized that his soul was pure. Since then he was disowned by his family and sent to live far away from any other elves—which was not too much of a problem because elves are generally solitary creatures—and has spent most of his life alone. Light-elves attempted to recruit him various times, but he has always turned them down, staying loyal to his kind despite the mistreatment and preferring the silence that comes with being alone. Other: Yin is technically a “dark-elf”, the opposite of “light-elves”, but unlike most dark-elves he is not evil. His season is winter, his symbol is the moon, and his element is darkness, but his soul is not impure; it is actually quite pure, which is very rare for a dark-elf, making him an asset to the light-elves and, though an outcast among the dark-elves, still valuable to them. His abilities include [creating snow and ice], [bending water], [becoming a shadow], [shadow-travel], [harnessing energy from the moon], and [speaking to animals]. He lives wherever the season is winter, taking residence in forests and leaving when the snow melts and summer comes. He is never in the same place for too long, so meeting him is a chance experience and usually only happens once. His ‘job’ is watching over the plants and animals as they go into hibernation, also helping lost travelers or pets whenever they are in trouble, such as freezing or starving in the cold. -Jae Hwa-
The city was as lively as ever, full of merchants and people walking around the busy streets in the middle of the morning. This city was located near the mountains, just before entering the forest. People from around the country always stopped by for different reasons. Merchants and slave traders from different parts of the world started appearing after rumors went around of the forest being home to different mystical creatures. Unfortunately, the rumors were true, and before long, a new market opened. The city population was quickly affected by the many people coming in and out. It was the only place around the area anybody could stay. The city economic situation has become one of the best around the country, and many merchants had found housing there to be some kind of investment. Three figures were sitting in one of the tables of an inn. The three mysterious men seemed to be discussing about business matters. One of them was a famous slave trader, but not just any, he was famous because his slaves were non-humans. The man sat calmly on the table, his feet resting on top of the table, as he stared at the other two his eyes narrowing. The other men seemed to be new costumers and they were currently setting a price on a new order. They were looking for a dark elf for his lord upcoming birthday, but the creatures were too rare, and not many owned one. The price for one was also a fortune, a man could become rich in one day with such a creature at their disposition, reason why many traders abused them and used them in unspeakable ways. A soft smirk appeared on the trader's lips displaying his utter confidence. "The price is settle then gentlemen. Pleasure to make business with you. I'll have your request ready in a week time." The raven haired man said and left the inn. The other other men watched him retreat and started speaking among themselves about how they would acquire the sum of money they were to give the trader. _____________________________________ The raven stood at the entrance of the forest smirking. He walked inside the dangerous place calmly, his mind knowing exactly where he to head to. He had it all planned out in his head, like a map, like his own house, he knew every part of this forest as well as he knew himself. He had been coming here ever since he was a child, back then he never thought he would have such obscure reasons to wander around these parts. He used to enjoy the nature the place had to offer and the weird creatures that would innocently approach him. Back then, he never thought he would be hunting down those same creatures he used to consider his "friends". After a while of walking he sat down and rested his back against a tree. He held a bottle of water and drank from it, his narrowed eyes alerted. He finally pulled away from the container and relaxed. He still loved this place despite the many hateful events it brought to his memory. "He should be near by..." He mumbled to himself and took out folded map from his pocket. He had barely wandered this part of the forest before, because it was said to be uninhabited. However, there was a rumor going around town not too long ago about a dark elf living there, so he decided to check it out. It was much easier to catch a loner than one from the main group. Dark elves were smart creatures, and by no means weak. They had strange powers and were good warriors, catching one was no easy quest. The dark-haired stood up and kept walking. He looked everywhere for a sign of a house but found none. He found remaining of footsteps and other things proving that indeed someone had walked by not too long ago and the man wondered if they were hiding somewhere watching him. He slowly straighten his back and waited patiently, not moving an inch of his relaxed body. His hand brushed against his pocket knife absent minded, his sense enhanced in anticipation. BlaqueCatt
For over a century the northern German city of Reich had received consistent and heavy snowfall each winter, the conditions occasionally coming as early as mid-autumn and lasting as late as early-spring. However, during the most recent years, alternations in weather patterns had changed the cycle that the inhabitants had come to expect. It was currently early winter, and less than a foot of snow had fallen. While the adults were pleased with the lack of shoveling and the children unhappy without the potential for snow-forts, the beings most deeply affected were the creatures that resided in the great forest located behind the city, not the humans. The expanse of trees and other foliage had seemingly forever been colored white, the tall pines collecting icicles that sparkled in the cold sunlight, providing a perfect habitat for dark-elves, certain species of faeries and dwarves, and various other creatures. Now, though, their perfect habitat was nonexistent. The creatures that had once lived in the forest had begun to migrate up to the mountains where it was colder and much safer; the warmer weather combined with the threat of human expansion had unsettled even the bravest elves. They had started the trek through the forest a week before the start of autumn, as the nymphs and sprites had sensed the change coming long before it occurred. As it was, almost all of the mythical population was gone from the forest, only a few lone stragglers--the elderly and sick--remained. The society of dark elves were not known for their compassion, and they had outvoted the other creatures when the time came to plan the move, so all who were unable to travel were left behind. Many of the creatures did not want to leave their home for other reasons than the fact that it was where they had been born; many of them had constructed relationships with the humans in the area--mostly faeries--and were very unwilling to give their friends up. But they had been overruled, and they would not abandon their families to stay with the humans. However, there was one dark elf who had been extremely persistent in staying where he was; his name was Yin, and he did not want to leave the humans because he had not yet become friends with one, which was his lifelong wish. It was very odd for a dark elf to be so gentle, which was why he had been outcast from the society long ago. His arguments were never taken into account, and the creatures had left him behind without a second glance; even if faeries and sprites appreciated with his kind personality, they would never acknowledge one who was exiled from their clan. Yin had continued to live in the forest for a month after the others had left. The warm weather had caused him to become quite ill, and he was unable to function properly for over half of the five weeks. The first snowfall of the season, though very light, was enough to get him going again. He remained in place for yet another three weeks, but soon enough it became clear that there would be no more snow; eventually it would melt, and h would never be able to make a friend if he was sick. So, around the time the new traders arrived in the city, the white-haired elf began his journey to the mountains. He was, at the moment, halfway through the forest.
