He smiled at his guardian and mentally thanked whatever higher power there was up there for gifting him with someone like Rin. He was as strong as he was hardworking and he could see himself trusting the other with every bit of his being and know that he would protect it to his last breath. He was just that reliable. There was the underlying feeling of the suspicion that the trust he had for Rin was sounding a little more than platonic. Shivering slightly from the cold and shaking away his blush, he let Nila curl up around him even more. The saber tooth was no longer afraid seeing as her master's aura had returned to being pure and kind with the thought of his guardian.

 

Hours later, he woke up to the sight of Rin still standing guard. He smiled at him as he realised that the overcast skies and the rain that came with it had passed. Brushing Nila's fur gently, the large cat shifted allowing him to get up while she herself shook the fatigue from her bones and stretched like the feline she was, purring. Rubbing his eyes, he directed his attention to the other. "How long was I sleeping?"

Rin turned- smiling faintly after hearing Luceal's voice.

"How long was I sleeping?"[/Quote]

"Only an hour or so. The sky's have cleared. Your clothes are dry. Please get dressed. We'll be at a Saraitto's bored in just a few miles."

12 to exact. They still had a long way to go.

He looked away stepping out of the cave seeing a large group of soldiers riding horse's. There must of been 50 of them. Rin quickly hid back in the cave watching from a far. Why the hell where there so many soldiers being sent out?

"Luceal. Stay quiet. "

He didn't want the soldiers passing by to know they were there. Rin bit his lip.

Has something happened? I know 30 soldiers are positioned in each capital and 20 in every village but... to send 50 out? Are they stopping at the up coming village? Why have 70 soldiers? Damn it! What are you planning Vain...

When they passed Rin made a sigh of relief.

Yawning, he nodded and started putting on his clothes. Seeing the other step out and then instantly stepping back inside then hiding, he was ready to pose his question and ask why Rin was hiding but he wasn't given the opportunity as said man was already telling him to be quiet. Nodding in answer to the order, he and Nila shared a worried look. What was it that had Rin so much more guarded than he usually was?. He decided to voice his question.

 

As soon as he heard the other breath what he judged as a sigh of relief, he assumed it was safe to speak. "What was out there?... you look troubled."

Rin's eyes fell on Luceal.

"What was out there?... you look troubled."[/Quote]

Rin crossed His arms.

"Soilders. And a lot of them. This is not good. I fear Vain is planning something devious. "

He shook his head trying to comprehend why he just saw so many soldiers.

"Its imperative that we remain unbeknownst. We can not risk drawing unnecessary attention to us Luceal. We'll have to leave Nila here for the time being. Having a rare beast like her tamed draws to much attention to you."

He explained. Waiting to hear Luceal's thoughts our perhaps resistant. He understood the young Prince had become attached to the seber tooth tiger. And to leave her behind well.... He Knew Luceal might refuse.

Furrowing his eyebrows, he decided that he was going to think of himself for once and be selfish. "No," he said with such finality in his voice. "I will not leave Nila here. If she stays so will I" He crossed his arms in such a childish way even he had to admit mentally that it was childish. But how could he leave his precious kitten to fend for herself? Well okay that sounded like utter foolishness, she was a rare saber tooth after all but they had formed a bond and he refused to let her go. And as it appeared Nila agreed to as she nuzzled her master lovingly.

 

"Please Rin, we'll find a way. But please don't make me leave her"

Rin sighed at the others response.

"No," .... "I will not leave Nila here. If she stays so will I" [/Quote]

He watched Luceal cross his arms childishly And his pet Nuzzling into him.

"Please Rin, we'll find a way. But please don't make me leave her"[/Quote]

Rin looked away- as if weighing the situation. What would they do with Nila?

"... I apologize for suggesting it. Forgive me. You are very attached to her. My suggestion was cruel"

He said staring out into the world from there small cave. The longer they stood there the chance that Kaname was leaving Saraitto. They needed to think of Something on there way there.

"Come...its time to go"

His voice slightly dull. Perhaps he was disappointed. He didn't consider Luceal's feelings for the creature. Already he felt he was failing on being the perfect guardian for the Prince And as he walked ahead, His eyes wondering for unsuspecting danger, He apologized again to Luceal. Rin was a strong person. He was struggling and yet he never showed it or wavered. Inside He was all torn up, But he walked as if nothing bad ever happened in his life. Which was a lie.

At Rin's slightly deflated look, he started to feel bad about what he said. Hugging the other fiercely, he looked up at him with apologetic eyes. "No.I'm sorry Rin. Please don't look like that. We'll find a way for sure!" Pulling away, he pet Nila as they walked out of the cave and continued on to Saraitto.

 

At the second apology he received from Rin, he was starting to feel very bad but remained silent as he knew that the other would still doubt himself even if he told him otherwise. He sighed and pet Nila again as they walked along the dirt path.

If only you were smaller, eh Nila? It would make things much easier...boy, I wish you were smaller.Then I could carry you like a little kitten! He chuckled at the image of a rather puny looking purple and white tiger-print cat rubbing against his leg and purring at his feet. Closing his eyes at the image, he smiled...that is until he realised something: his eyes were open while he saw a puny Nila...it could be passed off as a daydream but it was too sudden to be one.

 

Opening his eyes, he found himself looking at a small cat standing in place of where Nila was just minutes before. Had...had he done that? Had the desire and intense emotion he felt as he expressed his wish for Nila to be that small that strong? He screamed for joy. At least now he didn't have to worry about drawing attention to themselves. Picking up the surprised foot and a half saber tooth he cuddled her and smiled brightly. "Oh Rin i'm actually good for something!...I made Nila SMALL!" He thrust the confused cat in front of Rin's face.

 

She tilted her head cutely. "Meow?"

Rin was not surprised to find Luceal, hugging him. And tho The young Prince apologized himself. It made no little difference to Rin. As he walked he heard a scream from Luceal. He quickly turned to look at him. Pure terror in his eyes. Was the other hurt? Where they suddenly bring attacked? Just as he turned he was greeted with a purple.... kitten?

"Oh Rin i'm actually good for something!...I made Nila SMALL!"[/Quote]

Rin stared at the kitten.

"Meow?"[/Quote]

Although Rin was proud of Luceal. He told him using his abilities were bad, especially when he couldn't control them.

He moved Luceal's hand away- so that small cat was out of his face. A stren look in his eyes.

"Luceal. You are good for Something. You will bring the kingdom back to its former glory some day. And it is extremely dangerous to use your abilities when you have no control. You could of killed Nila. What if she's stuck like that forever? Not only is she small now. She can no longer protect you if I ever couldn't....Please. Control yourself Luceal. "

He shook his head.

"Come on... we need to keep moving. "

He turned away waiting for the other to start moving.

He slowly lowered Nila as the wide grin on his face slowly slid off to reveal a rather sad-looking Luceal. "I-I didn't do it on purpose...I ju-just thought that if she was smaller...". He stopped talking as he realised that Rin had already started walking again. He held onto Nila tightly but had to let go seeing as she was so small now and he could easily hurt her. "You must hate me too now don't you Nila?" As if trying to comfort her master, said cat jumped on his shoulder and curled around the back of his neck nuzzling his cheek and purring. He gave a faint smile at the small feline's attempt at cheering him up. Staring, at Rin's back he mumbled a soft 'I'm sorry'.

 

He followed behind the other soundlessly; trying his best not to further upset his guardian. He was admittedly a little mad at Rin for scolding him for doing something he had no control of but that wasn't really his reason for avoiding him. It would just feel more-than-just-a-little awkward to talk to him as he was now. He had many situations in the past where he tried to make up with a family member after he was wrongfully accused and it never did end well. He was always pushed away and scorned. And now he was starting to think that it wasn't just within the family and that most people didn't like him. But he decided not to let it bother him he would do what was needed of him for the sake of the innocent people suffering.

 

A dark thought crossed his mind. What if he didn't need to save them? What if they actually deserved it? And what if Rin had been lying to him all this time and him being nice to Luceal was all an act? It seemed very plausible in his mind. After all the other had just expressed inadvertently how much of a useless bother he was. His glare set firmly on Rin's back he kept walking uncaring to the fact that Nila was shivering in fear.

Rin paused a moment. Feeling a chill in the air. Darkness near by. He was hesitant but continued moving- they were now close to the village after walking for hours. Rin understood Luceal but he needed to scold him now and again. When he looked back at Luceal the Prince was glaring at him. He eyes widened slightly- seeing Nila shaking.

"Luceal, "

He stopped and turned to look at the other completely. He kneels in front of Luceal taking his hand. Holding it tenderly.

"Do not be consumed by negative thoughts. I sense darkness clouding your judgement. I apologize for scolding you. I know you can not control your abilities. Please- if you are ever faint hearted- come to me. You can trust me... My Prince"

He laid a kiss on Luceal's hand looking up in those strange yet alluring eyes.

"Your dark thoughts have frighten Nila. Your dark thoughts are giving Lord Vain power. He feeds on darkness, sorrow, fear, and pain, Do not feed your enemy"

He stood up.

"We are almost at the village. I'd like to arrive there before the sun sets. Can you continue."

His voice sincere.

He's lying...You can't trust him. Look how he suddenly stops scolding you when he sees that you're not pleased. Don't you see, it's all a trick... a plan designed to make you work for them. Those were the thoughts that continuously swirled in his head. As soon as Rin's lips touched his hand he pulled away and practically barked at him. "Don't touch me!"

 

He held his hand to his chest protectively as if he was burnt. Wide-eyed and confused, a deep frown set in his face at the mention of Nila feeling afraid and indeed he started to realise the slight shaking around his neck. He gasped realising what he was doing and took the much smaller cat from his position and cradled him in his arms before hugging her to his cheek. "Oh my precious i'm so sorry...don't be afraid, i'm OK now-see?" He held her away from his body momentarily so that she could look at him and be the judge of whether or not he was fine. And indeed she did scrutinize him: scanning his entire body with her eyes and sniffing at him constantly. Finally she came to the conclusion that he was fine and curled up in his arms.

 

Glancing at Rin, he bowed his head and continued walking afraid of what he would see in the other's eyes. "Yes, I can. Nevermind what happened just now...i'm just confused that's all" He said walking ahead of his guardian.

Rin was stunned.

"Don't touch me!"[/Quote]

He quickly hid his hurt emotion as he watched Luceal snuggle Nila.

"Oh my precious i'm so sorry...don't be afraid, i'm OK now-see?" [/Quote]

Somthing was wrong. Was Vain's darkness getting to Luceal? Rin only studied the Prince as he walked passed him.

"Yes, I can. Nevermind what happened just now...i'm just confused that's all"[/Quote]

If he was confused then why wasn't He talking to him. Luceal could trust him...

He followed behind Luceal- remaining quiet. He was still alert for near by dangers but he would look at Luceal here and there.

 

When the Sun set they arrived at a Saraitto village.

 

 

it was a more wealthy village then expected.

"Please- stay close to me"

He said as they walked in. Soilders at the gate- they stared at Luceal.

"You there!"

A man yelled stopping Rin and Luceal.

"Where are you coming from"

"Travelers good sir. This is my little brother. "

"I see. How old is He,"

"Age you seek? -"

Rin was hesitat to give Luceal's age.when suddenly there a loud crash sound and the solider jumped.

"Stay here!"

He warned running to see what happened- but Rin told Luceal to run- as he hurried into the village looking behind to make sure Luceal was behind him. He no longer would touch Luceal unless it was a life or death situation. When Rin stopped he looked back making sure they weren't followed. And together the two stood in front of a inn.

"Well see if there's any rooms in there, if so well stay here for the night."

It was strange for Soilders to suddenly question you. Somthing was defiantly wrong!

Before the order was completely out of Rin's mouth Luceal was already running. They'd both slow to a stop coincidentally in front of an inn. He followed Rin inside, stood by and let him do all the talking. Pale lavender eyes took in the appearance of the inn for all it was worth. It looked comfy enough, he supposed but opposed to how wealthy the entire village seemed, it was bland.

Rin was rather surprised by their room. It was spacious. Warm... comforting. When he closed the door behind Luceal He watched him closely.

 

 

 

"... Luceal, I sense how unease you are. Please talk to me. I won't touch you until you give me permission, I swear it."

He was worried about Luceal. His pure area was turning gray, instead of remaining pure and white. Was darkness entering his soul?

"Luceal...Please look at me. Speak...tell me what ales you."

They needed to talk. And Rin felt like Luceal needed to hide his appearance. He'd by a cloak for the boy soon.

Luceal turned cold, calculating eyes to Rin. "And just what makes you think that there's something wrong with me?" Eyes almost purple by now, he turned his back to him and began undressing prepared to go into the hot springs he passed in his way into the room. Uncaring of the fact that Rin was in the room, he shed every piece of clothing until he was left in nothing. He used the outer robe of his outfit to somewhat cover him down to his thighs just until he made it to the spring. He turned back to face the almost desperate guardian and smiled. " Well speak...I haven't got all day"

"And just what makes you think that there's something wrong with me?" [/Quote]

"Your area is darking. Your negative thoughts are feeding our enemy. "

He fell silent for a moment seeing the boy undress but he had seen many nude people before Luceal's naked appearance did not faze him.

" Well speak...I haven't got all day"[/Quote]

Rin hid his emotions well. As he blocked Luceal's path.

"Tell me what has you thinking dark thoughts. And you can not go anywhere by yourself. I must always be with you."

He said stern. As if there was no getting around it.

He rolled his eyes at his guardian. "There's no 'darkening aura' around me Rin. So stop being so damned paranoid and take me to bathe" He was evading the other's question as much as possible because somewhere in the back of his mind he knew that there was something wrong with him but his conscious mind refused to acknowledge it. He turned his head away from Rin. "I wouldn't be able to tell you even if I wanted to because I don't know myself so forget about it...i'm okay"

Rin stood where he was. The other did have a darkening area, Rin was no fool.

"My eyes do not lie. Your area is darkening. Please. Tell me your thoughts. Why have you changed so?"

He looked at Luceal intensely but seeing as How the other acted previously he opened the door for Luceal. Ready to follow him to the ends of the earth. But still waiting for an answer. They didn't know it...but tomorrow would bring great tragity.

Luceal allowed Rin's question to hand in the air for a while as he walked past the other and made his way to the bath. He let out a deep sigh as they arrived there and went through the necessary processes to use the bath. "I don't know Rin...I just-I just don't know" he flashed the raven a heated glare. "All I know is that for whatever reason I am angry at you and just the world in general." Another sigh left him as he entered the water and tried to settle his troubled mind.

Rin felt the others heated glare. But couldn't do anything about it. What could he do. The Prince was shutting him out. For now He remained quiet. Not speaking unless spoken too. He didn't want to anger Luceal even more. He took his bath and exited when Luceal did. Having two different Fontana's he waited for Luceal to go to sleep first. Watching over him closely. What did he do to upset Luceal so much?

He curled up on his side ready to rest his tired mind and body. For some reason there was a heavy stress on his psyche moreso than when just found out about his powers. This stress was unwanted and like temptation in his ear, it told him to give in. To what, he didn't know but all it kept pressuring him into doing was give in. Thoughts like: why he had to save the people of Saraimonda, if even wanted to and why he was doing something that he had no say in. Go back home, the voices told him but he had none to go back to. That thought saddened him as he closed his eyes, not sleeping nor resting. Just awaiting dawn to come.

 

Nila curled up beside him as she realised that hours passed and her master was still awake. He pet her gently and smiled. Well that answered why he wanted to save Saraimonda---for the innocent little creatures like Nila that had no control of what the humans did. The people may have or may have not deserved what happened here but the animals certainly weren't guilty of it and as such if uncertainty should ever overcome his reasons for risking himself to save somewhere then he would think of Nila and perhaps there were people out there like the Rin he came to know. Kind and sweet, loving and concerned...Rin. He sighed and fell asleep. Unknown to him lavender eyes returned to their normal pink hue.

Rin was able to sleep a little. But he was extremely worried about his Prince. As morning came he ate breakfast in silence. Getting dressed in a new outfit. He had on a black cloak underneath it and bought a matching one for Luceal to wear.

 

He waited patiently until Luceal was finished eating before he tired the cloak around the boys neck Pulling the hood over his head. He keeled down- when he did so- He met the Prince's eyes.

"I know you are upset with me. And I apologize for whatever I did to you. I would never hurt you Intentionally - please always remember that..... let's go"

He stood- and like always...led the way.

 

As they walked threw the village there was a lot of commotion. People gathering in time square. The center of the village. Rin got a bad feeling and grabbed Luceal's hand following the crowd. There stood a ground of soldiers circling a wooden crate with young men trapped inside. They all were begging and crying. There hands sticking out as if to reach for freedom. Underneath the crate was hay drenched in oil.

A solider quieted down the crowd of people reading off from a scroll.

 

"Lord Vain has discovered news concerning the great country on Sairamonda. Among this country is a boy of royal blood. If anyone knows anything they must come to the Lord Vain immediately! The search has begun for the bastard child. Anyone suspicious of being the previous rulers child. Will be taken- and giving the ultimate punishment! Death!"

The crowd gasped. The thought of a prince brought hope but seeing to young boys trapped in a crate brought horror.

"Wait! Wait!"

A women yelled.

"That's my son in there! He's not of royal blood!! Release my boy!!!"

A child probably the age of 14 yelled for his older brother.

"Big brothers! Big brother did nothing wrong! Let him go!"

"Release My son!

Releace my Child!

Release my husband!!!"

The crowd yelled, many crying, the men reaching for there family's and loved ones yelling at the Soilders that they weren't the Prince. And Rin watched... watched in utter sadness. He couldn't do anything...

 

And suddenly a solider lit the oil slick hay under the crate- bursting it into flames. Screaming filled the air. The men trapped inside the fire was the most terrifying sound. The suffering the crys for help. There stench feeling the air. It was a sickening smell. The smell of burnt flesh. There ash- black body's. Teenagers trapped and being burned alive! And for no good reason.

And there Sisters, mother's, lovers.... force to watch.

Rin grabbed Luceal and held the Prince to his chest. Trying to block out the screams the awful smell.

"Luceal...don't look... I'm so sorry"

He voice broken. It was extremely hurtful to watch his people suffer. He quickly tried to move. To run. To get away from the horror. You could still hear the burning men's pleads.

"W-we must move Luceal! We can not save them!"

He touched his guardian's cheek gently. "It's ok, Rin. I'm not mad anymore" He smiled warmly at him for the first time in hours and followed the raven out.

 

Pink tourmaline eyes widened with eveyr word that was read off of the scroll. It was pure utter wickedness. How could you call yourself a king when you kill your people in cold blood uncertain that you'll even accomplish the set goal by doing so? He frowned at the scene. Grown men and little boys inside the cage cried and begged for their lives. Pleading with the soldiers to release them. Women mourned their deaths even before it happened.

 

As the cage went up in flames, tears fell from the prince's eyes. They had all been killed because of him. He had caused their deaths. Somehow, he wasn't careful enough and now Vain knew that he was here in Saraimonda, he would massacre the males just to find him. His heart filled with grief and pain. It was as good as him killing the men himself. After all, he was the cause of it. What had he done?

 

"R-Rin...I caused this...I killed them" He stood stock still but his guardian was persistent and had other things in mind so in the end he ended up walking away from the scene briskly so as to not drawn attention to themselves. His eyes were unfocused but his body kept moving forward, only wanting to get as far as possible away from the scene.

He heard his Prince

"R-Rin...I caused this...I killed them"[/Quote]

Rin shook his head. Hurrying away. When Rin round a safe place just outside the village he held Luceal in his strong proactive arms. They were crouched down behind bushes and trees so they wouldn't be seen. Rin couldn't cry. He wouldn't show weakness. He needed to be here for Luceal. Need to be strong and support the younger one.

"Luceal... listen to me.This was not your fault. Do you hear me? Not your fault. But this will keep happening. Vain will not stop until he knows your dead. And that will never happen. Some day...I'm confident that you Will have all your abilities and avenge those people- that you'll save us all. "

Rin tightened his grip on the boy.

"I will always be on your side Prince Luceal. Forever. "

He felt for Luceal. This must all be tiring and scary. To suddenly witnessed such tragedy. To realized just weeks ago that your from a different world and that the parents you had weren't your parents at all- and that your real ones where murdered. To suddenly wake up and find out your the only hope for people and you need to kill a dark Lord.

"You don't have to force yourself to hide your feelings...you may always cry in front if me Luceal. I will help wipe your tears. If your sad-cry. Let your feeling flow."

His voice soothing and soft.

His ears took in all that the raven was saying as his mind soaked up the reality of the situation. This was serious. It wasn't a game -not that he thought it was- people were dying in vain and cold blood an he was apparently the only one who could do anything about it. He was the lost son of the deceased King and Queen. His powers were somewhat good but dangerous. His country had six guardians one of which was his personal guard, he was supposed to find the others with Rin's help and he was constantly in danger of being overcome by darkness. It really was too much for one person.

 

Tears filled his eyes as he gripped Rin's shirt tightly and buried his face in said material. Choked sobs wracked his lithe form as he tried to remain quiet so as to keep them hidden. He was beyond overwhelmed, so much that he didn't know what to do with himself. He grabbed his guardian's shirt even tighter and sobbed even more. The white of his eyes by then had surpassed the pink of his iris and was now an angry red though the emotion he was feeling was quite far from anger.

"R...Rin..", he choked out not really needing the other to do anything else but hold him. He just felt the need to call out Rin's name. He was his guiding light. The only thing protecting him from the darkness that covered this land and lived in the recesses of him mind.

 

What felt like hours later, he had finally stopped shaking and his eyes were relatively dry having cried himself into a drought. He pulled away from Rin, attempting to use his own strength and learn to stand on his own. He needed to be stronger mentally, physically and magically. Not only for his sake but for the sake of his people. Their deaths would not be in vain. He will destroy Vain and he will bring Saraimonda back to its previous state if nor he will make it even better. His hands balled up into fists. He turned determined, puffy, red eyes at Rin. "We need to keep going...I think its time my training got serious"
