Paranoia is a powerful thing, but it usually plays tricks on one's mind and leaves them a bit panicked. In a small town this paranoia has been haunting everyone but nothing has ever come of it. Though they all felt like they were being watched, none of them did anything about it. A good thing, they wouldn't have been able to stop it anyways.

It was a demon prince (uke) who was lurking around town, but it wasn't everyone, no it was one in particular who he had felt would be able to be a proper mate. The only reason he took so long in claiming this person, was that the other was also a demon (seme) and to top it off was a male. He had to be sure that it was this demon and not a simple bit of confusion. When he finally lays claim to him will he be received as well as he hoped.

It was that time again. Nighttime. The demon prince could resume his search in peace. No humans to interrupt him. No sunlight to reveal his every hiding spot. No one and nothing around to stop him. Walking out from his exquisite mansion, Masaki began to roam the streets. For years, the lonely prince had been searching for someone to rule alongside him over the Kingdom of Soniria, where his family held the royal bloodline ever since the kingdom's conception. Now that the former princess had died of natural causes, there was a new spot open for the throne, and Masaki wanted to be sure that only the best candidate would fill the place.

Masaki slinked out of his palace, his blue glowing headset dimming to reduce the volume of the sounds he made and began his search for the perfect mate.

Hiroki glanced up at the night sky. It seemed the same as any other night. Yet he felt slightly perplexed as if something was amiss and he hadn't a clue to what it was. He enters the garden of a nearby park and decided to take a brisk nap. He had always done this without hesitation. As he closed his eyes in rose brush, he noticed the flowers turn blue with a light glow. This was his main reason for resting in the flowerbeds. In his mind the glow reminded him of home and yet Hiroki never wanted to return there. Little did he know his presence within the flowers at night caused a change in the humans during the day.

Masaki spent his time wandering the streets, looking into windows for potential mates. He used to only want women, but for the past few searches, he had started looking for men too. The only problem he faced was that the men of the kingdom often passed myths of night creatures that did horrible things to people who stayed up too late, so the streets were always empty, and the rooms always contained weird knick-knacks meant to "scare" the night creatures away. While they didn't scare him, Masaki did feel that the knick-knacks were extremely tacky, so he didn't bother with a person whose room was full of knick-knacks.

Before long, Masaki got bored of searching for potential mates in knick-knack-covered windows and just went to the park for a short walk.

Hiroki took in the scent of the night and the flowers around him. He gazes at the glowing light with a sigh. It was very tantalizing and he enjoyed every moment of it. Slowly sitting up he glanced around the park. Something changed in the wind and he frowns. Hiroki could tell he was no longer the only one in the park. That bothered him since he had no intention of running into any mortals or such at this point. 'So much so a peaceful evening.' he thinks waving his hand so the glow vanished.

Masaki picked up a sound coming from a rosebush and saw some lights dimming. Perhaps they were already installed and automatically went out like the human electricians programmed them to. Curious, he walked over to said rosebush. As he got closer, he felt as if it wasn't a human electronic appliance. He carefully silenced the sound of his footsteps as he neared the bush, wondering who caused the dimming light.

Hiroki got up on his feet and took off running. He had zero tolerance for humans and avoided contact with them as much as possible. He didn't get to put out all the lights and a few roses still held a blue glow followed by his aura. He didn't go far as he had wanted to return to the roses before dawn. 'Who the hell would be out this late..? according to myths creatures of the night is what they fear most of all...' he thinks

Masaki heard a much louder sound coming from the rosebush and followed the sounds of the other being's footsteps. The lights of roses helped him stay on track. What kind of human could make roses light up in such a way? Or actually... Could a human make roses light up like that? He thought of the possibilities as he followed the sound.

Stopping to glance back, Hiroki sighs as he didn't see anyone. He grit his teeth as he could smell someone close by. "Whose there? If you are mortal do turn and return home. I would hate to ruin the roses with the stain of your blood." he said in a low growl. He really wasn't about harming someone unless annoyed. Narrowing his gaze he noticed someone walking where he had just left. "Identify yourself or prepare for the worse."

"Are you threatening me? I mean no harm to you or your glowing flowers." Masaki laughed. "I am Masaki Tsuine, prince of Soniria. I don't think I've ever seen anyone in the park this late. Who are you?"

Masaki knew that this man had to have some serious powers if he were confident enough to threaten him with violence. This man looked like the type to completely underestimate his abilities. He hoped that this man knew sign language in case he had to blow his hearing out temporarily.

Hiroki walked over towards the male. "A prince...? That's rather interesting. My name is Hiroki Kaname. I am a demon from a clan that is no more. The last of my kind and don't wish to be disturbed. Why is a prince like yourself roaming the mortal realm?" he asked narrowing his eyes. Hiroki began to approached the male before him. He wonders if he should attack the boy or not.

"Charmed. You see, the last princess died recently, and I've been rather lonely~" Masaki began, a playful grin on his face. "I have the longest life span of everybody in my clan, so I'm looking for a mate who will live as long as I will."

He eyed Hiroki in amusement.

"Last of your kind? Demon clan? What kind of demon clan did you come from? There aren't many demon clans that I know have been wiped out." Masaki said.

Hiroki raised an eye brow. "Oh is that so. Well I do hope you find a mate. It seems someone as young as yourself can't contain your boredom." he said glancing to the side. "As for my clan, if you know nothing of it then you truly far too young boy. As I don't wish to speak of it with the likes of you. Children should pick up a book instead of searching for a bride. Its clear you'd make an pathetic ruler no matter how long you live." he said not caring how rude or cold he was being.

"Young? Me? You flatter me, Hiroki. However, I'm anything but young. I've been around for centuries, much like this kingdom. I was there for the first ruler's coronation." Masaki said, not affected by the coldness of the other boy's words. He looked around at the glowing roses and thought more about the boy's personality, and things started to make more sense. As he had read when he was 150 and being educated on other, the Kaname clan was a band of plant youkai that was very suspicious of strangers near the point of being hostile to outsiders. The tell-tale signs were showing just like the writings on the other boy's clan had dictated.

"So the writings were true after all. It's no wonder your clan is wiped out. Your stubbornness doesn't make friends easily, does it?" the prince teased. This boy's personality made it too easy to play with him.

Hiroki narrows his gaze. "So you know of my clan? Then you know how we were wiped out.. If that is the case then its best you avoid me. We may have been seriously overprotective but there was a reason. One unknown to outsiders until the bitter end. I wish you luck in your quest for a bride. Good bye." he said turning to walk away. He had no interest in the boy anymore.

Masaki's expression soured a little. The boy was such a killjoy. However, it sparked something within the prince's heart that not even he was aware of. That boy was the first person to challenge his authority in a while. Usually, the girls he met would shower him with honorifics, bows, and other courteous gestures. The few men he did see around at night would also respond accordingly. However, all of them knew he was a prince. This boy didn't at first. Everything about him was so different, so interesting. He wanted to know more, but he knew he couldn't get anymore out of him the way he was right now. He turned to go back to the palace early, a little unsettled and unsatisfied.

Hiroki glanced back to be sure he wasn't followed. His gaze lowers as he smirked a bit. "Oh my... a prince of his status in the area. Things could become interesting." he mutters softly as he heads home. He lived in a small cottage as to avoid attention. Once there he strips out of his clothes and decides to take a bath. His place was filled with roses and they always held his glow when he was near. He gets in his shower and sighs. "I wasn't able to full enjoy my evening in the garden. I suppose tomorrow will be another day."

Masaki arrived at the palace in about half the time it took to get to the park. He undressed once in his room and walked into the private bathroom he had connected to his bedroom to shower and take a bath. Once in the bath, he thought about how he acted towards Hiroki.

"Maybe I was a little harsh on him. Must've been the women that made me confident." he said to himself as he relaxed in the warm water of his bath. "No matter, tomorrow should be better... Provided I don't let my mouth work on its own..."

The night turned to day and the mortals were about. Hiroki was sin his house tending to the roses around it. Even in the day, they held their ominous blue glow. He began thinking about Masaki. The boy caught his attention yet annoyed him at the same time. "Maybe I was a bit too cold. I mean he was just looking for a bride and he guessed I was someone of potential interest. As long as he doesn't propose to me I suppose its fine to talk with him..." he says to himself.

Masaki woke up a little late in the morning, around lunchtime to be exact. He showered and bathed again, requesting his servants to bring him lunch in the bath. As he soaked in the hot water, the servants brought him a selection of breads, cheeses, and lunch meats from all over the globe. He asked for a hot reuben and sent them off to relax a little. During his bath, he thought more about Hiroki. He definitely thought he was being too pompous and forward the first time they met. In fact, he even felt a small longing for the other boy. Before he could think on it too much, his sandwich arrived, and he started eating. After he finished his lunch, Masaki drained the tub and dried himself before going out to buy more food.

Hiroki enters his place once finished with the flowers. He was feeling hungry and decided to head into town. As long as he avoided flowers no one ever noticed he wasn't human. He wore a black cape to prevent too many stares. He kept his distance so many mortals one interacted with him if necessary. Knowing his cupboard and freeze had little in it; Hiroki put on some shoes and took off into the town square. He walks about stopping at a few shops and gathering things in a basket he had brought along with him.

As Masaki dressed before leaving for town, he found himself having more problems on deciding what to wear. More questions ran through his head. Was he trying to look good in case Hiroki showed up? Was he still thinking about Hiroki? The questions continued to run through his head as he chose a nice black vest over a white shirt and some dark blue pants to go out in. He took a blazer out with him as he left the palace.

Hiroki walked form shop to shop filling his basket with things he'd need. The many shops around enjoyed his business since he always paid more than necessary and never accepted change back. He had it so he didn't mind giving to others. As he walked something caught his attention in a store window. It was a ring. The color reminded him of the glow his flowers gave off. Staring at the gem behind the glass, Hiroki was almost mesmerized by it. He never was one to buy himself trinkets or unnecessary objects. This was the first time something so trivial stuck out in his mind.
