Jace stretched out in his chair, tilting his head back while stretching up his arms in a long yawn, his chair going on it's back to legs in the process. Rubbing the back of his head he silently cursed himself for not getting a proper amount of sleep last night, before looking back at his study materials that were strewn out on the table in front of him. He and his friend had sat down inside of there usual Cafe that they use to study and hang out most of the time, this time in particular they were getting ready to take there finals, then graduate and finally move on in the world after establishing there lives. He reached down and took his cup in his hands, blowing on it to cool it before sipping from it to warm himself up. Looking out the window beside him he smiled, it was beginning to snow, sticking to the street and side walk nicely, everything was perfect, everything was normal, everything was calm. His life was simple, normal and all he ever wanted, then it happened.

There was a low rumble, only Jace and a few other really noticed. Frowning in confusion he glanced acros the table at vincent in a quizzical look, then felt his coffee vibrate in his hands, as a second, more deffinet rumble rang through the air. A few people had already risen in there chairs now, looking out the window in confusion but seeing nothing yet. A loud explosion rang out, Jace fell from his chair while cups and plates fell tot he floor, people screamed in confusion. Now, looking out the window smoke could be seen, and a warm hue which suggested a large amount of fire not far off. Jace scrambled to his feet to reach out for hsi friend in confusion, but before he could get his bearings, a bomb hit, just a bit away from the cafe, blowing off half the building and the rest caving in, burrying the two boys and all of the others that were now trapped under the rubble.

Vincent dropped his cup of coffee and dived to try and get under something that might provide a little shelter. He felt the ground shudder as he heard the explosion close by, building started to collapse around the one he was in. He felt the earth shake more as the full force of the bomb hit. The building collapsed around him and he let out a scream of terror as bricks fell. The table under which he hid had long since been destroyed and the falling debris fell onto and around him. His heart pounded against his ribcage as he was forced flat on his stomach by a falling beam. His hands instinctively raising to cover his head as tears of pain ran down his cheeks.

"Jace..." he murdered through his pain ridden haze "Jace..please, where are you?....help me Jace..." His voice was no more than a whisper, the blood pounding through his ears too much for him too bear, he cried silently as chaos erupted around him. His fogged mind could not make any sense of what was happening and he could see stars starting to form in front of his eyes, stars that danced in patterns around a black background. Stars that began to lull him into a dream, stars that might allow him release from the pain and suffering, be it mental or physical, both were as bad as each other in this pathetic world.

Jace groaned low, shifting slightly, he felt something heavy weighing against his back. Something was wrong, this was wrong, this was not his home, not his bed, this was not right. He opened his eyes slowly, but could see nothing at all, shifting to try and get a view of something, he cried out as he felt a sharp pain in his side. Then it all came back, the noises, the explosion, all of it and he immediatly cried out for his friend, "Vinc--!" He coughed violently as he inhaled dust, rubble and ash when he inhaled to scream. He realized that he could not see what because there was stone above him, however it was not crushing him due to a large few beams keeping it off him. Holding his breath, he gathered his strength before shoving off the large stones, and immediately regretted not staying in his little cage of stone. The air was thick, and dense with smoke, he could hear car alarms going off in the distance, and what made it all worse, was that he could not hear Vincent. Shaking his head to try and clear his eyes he began searching for his friend on the rubble, he couldn't think about what had happened, where is parents were, nothing besides finding his friend. He could not be alone, not in this. It took him about an hour before he finally found his friends hand, crying out as he unburried him and drug him from the rubble. Once Vince was free he leaned down to listen to the others chest, he could hear breathing but it was rapidly fading, and he knew how this was going to end, Vincent was absolutely covered in blood, almost unrecognizable so. He didn't let out a sound, just stood, and with great struggle, lifted his friend over his back so he could piggy back him. "Hey, you can't leave me here, okay? We are going to go find everyone, they must be so scared right now, we have to find them too, just like I found you." He murmured softly, the words were to Vincent but were clearly meant soley for himself. He walked, through the fire and screaming, with his friend on his back, he walked when more bombs were dropped, he continued to walk, when he felt his best friend, draw his last breath. He remembered seeing something about regeneration in the old shrine that his father used to bring him to, and began heading there, only a few minutes outside of town. Jace knew what he was going to do, and knew that it would not work, but he could not face what had just happened, not by himself so in a dream-like state, he walked. He fell, three times from pain in his side, but each time drug himself back to his feet, he would and could not stop. Once he walked threw the shutters to the shrine, he fell to his knees, his deceased friend falling from his back ungracefully. Heaving, he drug himself to his feet, and stumbled over to the book case, reaching up, he pulled the old, warn and tattered leather book from the case, and began to set up the ritual. Once he set up 8 candles in a circle, he drug Vincents body in it, then ceiled the circle with more candles, and scribbled down the symbols. Pulling up the book, without even the energy to stand, he leaned against the wall and began the incantation. Why am I doing this now? This is not a time to be playing with fairy tales and magic, I should be looking for my mother, and my friends. I should be worrying about myself, so why am I doing this?..He finished his thought, finished the incantation, and fall back against the wall, sliding down it and struggling to keep awake now, exhausted from it all.

He could feel something tugging at him, like a thread that refused to release, a thread attached to the very fibre of his being. He ground his teeth as he continued to walk along the path, his feet dragging from the energy he was losing trying to withstand the pull. Sweat dripped down his forehead 'what was this?' He thought. Nothing like this had ever happened before and get now, now he felt that his being was being dragged away somewhere. He growled a final time trying to resist but he could not. It felt like an elastic band that was stretched to breaking point but he could not break it, could not get it to release him. His body sagged and he was pulled into the darkness that had been attacking his conscience.

He awoke with a start, his body jerked violently as his eyes snapped open to look up at the dark roof of a building. His body felt odly heavy and didnt respond quickly enough. Slowly he brought his hand up in front of his face. The nails were clear but covered in grim, very different from his previously black ones, sharpened to a point. He twisted his hand in a circle trying to work out what was going on. The hand was certainly not his own, while the fingers were still long and slender as his were the palm bore an old scar from who knows what and blood covered the entire hand. His own blood?

Groaning he slowly sat up trying to work out what was happening. His mind was clearing now and his movements were becoming faster but still not as fast as they should be and his limbs were still too heavy. He looked down at the foreign body. While it was slender and well built it was not his own "what happened?" He murmered. Reaching his hand behong his neck he felt for his soft long locks and sighed when they were still there, je brought the hair round his shoulder and inspected it. Brown. It was brown and not black. Looking up he saw a young man slouched against a beam, blood covered his body as well but he was the only person around so he felt it was safe to make the assumption he might know something.

He crawled over to the other and seeing he appeared in conscience he quickly slapped him around the face. "hey! What's going on!? Wake up you lazy idiot!" He nearly shouted, his voice raised but just below a shout.

Jace could hear some commotion but chose to ignore whatever it was, he just wanted to sleep now. He had just lost his best friend, probably his home, family, and all he had ever known. However just as he began to nod off he felt himself tople over from as shark sting across his face. Hand shooting up, he held his cheek, eyes wide with surprise as he gazed up at the other. He couldn't believe what he was seeing, he recognized this person, this person in front of him was the one he raced with when he was a kid, the one he played pranks on others with when he was a teenager. This was Vincent. He could do nothing but gape at the other, this impossibly amazing thing standing in front of him. He could not withhold his excitement.

After all that had happened he just wanted to hug his best friend, who he could have sworn was just dead. With what little energy he had, he pushed off from the wall behind him and wrapped his arms around the other, hugging him tightly as he cried out, "Vincent! How is that even possible?! I should have payed more attention in health class, I thought you were dead!" He couldn't control himself, he was giddy and smiling wide. Not because his friend was here, but more out of exhaustion from this whole event. He had been pushed past his limit at this point, and did not even care how Vincent was here at this point, all that mattered was that he was no longer a good idea.

He did not consider that the other had actually died, he just assumed he had misread the others vital signs somehow.

The mans eyes widened as the male embraced him, what was going on. In a desperate attempt to escape the unwanted contact he extended his wings. There was more resistance than normal but he continued desperate to get away and work out what was going on. A scream tore from his lips as pain lanced up his back, a searing inferno that clutches at him. Clamping his mouth shut he bit his tongue and clentched his teeth trying to stave of the pain. His wings unfolded, the feathers falling above him until they settled. The pain lessened and he quickly jumped back his concentration wavering, his wings dissapated in dark smoke. Breathing heavily he glared at the man in front of him.

"Hey you never answered my question, who are you! And not only that how do you know my name? You filthy paice of garbage." For the first time he looked around, he took in the dark sky and the small shrine he stood in, he frowned this was the human world, he had only visited once to collect a debt from long ago. He looked at the man in front of him, this time really looking. "Your human...how did you get me here?" He murrmered softly completely bewildered. If he wanted to make a contract with someone he came to the person in need, no one ever physically called upon a demon for help. He looked at his body, it was battered and bruised with some broken bones but all that was healing now his powers healing the body at a rate that should be impossible. He frowned, these clothes were really appealing, how anyone could wear anything like this amazed him, he quickly removed the torn shirt leaving his torso exposed to the elements. He signed as he felt the cool wind against his bare skin, it help to focus his mind better. "Right, you Dont need me, and you obviously think I am still whoever this person was to you but let me tell you this: He. Is. Dead. So why don't you release me from this contract so we can both return to normal!"

Jace stood back quietly, simply gaping in confusion. What on earth was Vincent talking about? He took a few steps back to lean against the wall, the ache in his side was killing him. Something was different about the other, that was certain, not based off of what he was saying. He just died, so of course he would be saying some strange things, but based off his over all appearance and aura. Vincent was always rather kind with Jace, they had been friends for a long time so it made sense that they were very close. Vincent however did not have the air of regardless and intimidation about him that the one before him did. Then, when the wings came out, Jace lost it. His mouth dropped open at the man before him, he wanted to scream up just did not have the strength to do so.

He spoke in a soft murmur, more of a dream like state than an actual statement. "I don't understand...what do you mean?.." He shifted slightly to ease the pain in his side and felt his hand bump into the binding of the old book, quickly, without paying attention to the other he picked it up and doing what he failed to do before, read the top of the page, where is explained that he had just summoned a demon into his friends body, not his friend into his friends body. Eyes wide and hands now, once against shaking is fear he looked up at the hulking figure before him. Opening his mouth to speak he began, but quickly cut himself off, then looked back down at the book.He read that if you ordered a demon that you summoned to do something, then you could control it's actions, and in a haze he repeated the common , recommended verse that was written, in barely an audible whisper, "I, Jace Willards, Command you, Vincent, to protect me, and to do as you are told, you will not harm me directly, or in directly. This is your Charge, only once the tasks I have set in motion are complete may you be released." A hunky chain, erected itself from Jace's wrist, and wrapped itself around Vincents neck, it wasa bit hot, then settled down and disappeared, however both could feel a slight wait where the chain was.

Vincent's eye widened, he couldn't believe what was happening, he had served in the human world before but it was of his own want and at the end of it he got to eat the poor idiots soul. Here he would get nothing in return, he was summoned and now he was under a contract that only benefited the human. He gasped slightly as the chain wrapped itself around his neck, constricting his breathing. Finally it loosened but he could still feel its weight and its tightness as he breathed in.

He muttered an incantation under his breath as he held his palm out flat. Out of the air above his out stretched palm appear what looked like two very thick chopsticks and about twice the length of normal ones. His arm shock slightly as they fell into his palm. He would never get used to how much more energy it took to use his powers in this world. His arm shook as he lifted the chopsticks up and used them to hold his hair in a tight ponytail upon his head. Once finished he let his arms drop sighing as he relaxed his muscles annoyed that just summoning them from the other world had taken so much out of him. He looked back at thee man and glared glared at him before getting down on one knee and putting his hand over his heart he mockingly said "My Lord, I am forever your vassal." He smirked as he rouse again and condescendingly continued "so what would you like me to do? wash you? dress you? or maybe I should cook your meals?" He couldn't deny how much he looked down upon humans who could do nothing for themselves and always needed help from outside forces and how he, from their selfishness, was being forced to obey one.

Jace just sat there, dumbfounded. He could not believe what was happening, nor what he had just done. He grew up around the shrines so always heard those stories about someone needing to be exercised or someone being haunted by a demon, but never did he think there was any truth at all to those stories. But here, standing before him, mocking him, was a real live demon. Well, in essence anyway, were demons even living creatures? Closing his eyes for a moment, he tried to gather all of the knowledge he had about these things were so minimal, he had no idea what to do.

He spoke, rather quietly in a hushed voice. "I want you, to stay with me until I order you to do other wise. I want food, and water." Pressing his hand to his side he felt a warm trickle of liquid trail down his hand, looking down he saw that there was a large deal of blood leaving his body from the wound in his side. After the other returned he knew that he would need to get somewhere with a medical center.

Vincent looked down upon Jace, a single hand resting elegantly on his leg as he contemplated what to do. On the one hand the could do exactly what his 'master' asked and go and get food or he would tend to this kans wounds first, if he went he would probably have death knocking at his door before he returned and that single moment would automatically free him of any contracts or obligations. He stood glowering down at Jace, most humans liuved punny pathetic lives just waiting for the next day to come until finally death would carry them away as they wished they had done more. But here, Jere in front of him sat a man who wanted to live and who wanted others to live enough too call him from the depths of hell.

He groaned, there had never been an option, as much as he would like to leave he respected those who had the will to love and could not take that away just because he wanted some peace. He crpouched down and quickly ripped of the mans shirt using it too wipe the blood away from the sounds, not bothering to be too gentle "I'll get them in a moment, unless off course you have a death wish and what I have juged to be true is in fact false." He held the rpough fabric to the open wound pressing tightly to try and stop the flow of blood as he reached back and picked up the shirt he had discarded earlier and tore it into strips slowly banaging the wounds.

Jace's eyes went wide as he saw the others actions, visibally pressing back further to the wall to try and get away from the other and what ever he was doing. This was wrong, his best friend would never treat him like this, in fact, a demon sworn to protect him shouldn't either. For a second he was afraid he had missed something or said some wrong protection spell, he was scared for his life until he realized that the other was just trying to help him. He closed his eyes tightly and winced at the feeling of it, biting his lower lip hard and shifting against the wall in pain, a low murmur escaping from his mouth as his head spun.

There was no point in complaining about this, he knew that this is what needed to happen or he could face death. However with his best friend gone now, was there really a point any more? He could just close his eyes and let go, butt if he did that, if he died without releasing the other then the demon would be stuck here for the rest of his existance. So dealing with, he simply watched while gritting his teeth, watching the others moves closely, while simply studying the creature hovering over him, fixing him broken body.

Vincent finished his work quickly not caring that the other was in pain but not trying to cause extra pain. Finally finishing he stood up strait looking down upon the other. Sighing he turned and walked away leaving Jace to his pain not caring too much but he had to carry out the others orders.

Walking down the street he watched as the chaos erupted around him, people running around the area trying to fond loved ones or to rescue precious items. He walked oblivious to it all, his face blank and uncaring. Spotting a black coat in a shop amoungst the chaos he wandered in, casually taking of off the rack and putting it on before walking out the shop again as if it was perfectly normal. He smirked to himself. Stupid humans. The coat was long and came down to just below his knees, it wasn't done up leaving his toned chest revealed.

Looking around the running people he grabbed some food of the market stalls some of which had fallen over with food now laying scattered and discarded on the floor. Now burdened with food and water he turned and made his way back to Jace.

Arriving back to the pathetic male he checked the food at him. "Here's you food.....my lord~" he said sarcastically.

  • 2 weeks later...

Jace sat back against the wall while he held his hands to the now banaged wound, he did feel a bit relieved, knowing that he would not die now, however as relieving at that was, it also took away the small bit of comfort that there was in the relaxing, emptiness in death. He tilted his head back to look out the window that was against the far wall and smiled softly to himself, despite all that had happened, it was snowing outside now. As though nothing else had happened, the weather still moved on, as did time, he noted now tat it was begining to get dark outside, though the sky was still covered with ash and soot, he could tell it was getting to be night time.

When the other returned back, Jace allowed the food to hit the floor before steadying himself, standing up, picking up the food, and he began to eat, all the while, he kept his gaze at the window, watching the snow, it was in these quiet moments that the small boy was saying his final parting to his friends and family that he had just lost, as well as his best friend that he had just lost. He did not speak for a good hour, however now, he was more acertive, he was past the initial point of shock and into a state of acceptance. "So, where do we go from here? Are you hungry? Do you need to eat? I bet your body does at least." He murmured while stepping towards the other, and offering him food with his hands outstretched.

Vincent glared at the fps being offered to him, as much as he wanted to reject it he also knew that Jace was right, he needed to eat or this pathetic human body would either and die taking him down with it. Sighing he snatched the proffered food eating it casually before he fashioned to answer the question that had been put before him. "Look human, it is not my job to decide where we go nor what we do, I am here as a means for you to live in any manner you wish but it is you who must decide to begin with so... Where do YOU want to go from here?" His voice was almost flat and uncaring but there was still a hint of annoyance hidden within it.

He leant against a wall only now noticing the flakes of white snow that feel with perfect grace outside. A small smile curved onto his face as he found the irony of the situation.

The smaller male sighed at the other, he certainly wasn't making this easy on him, however he was a demon so it was understandable that he might not be the nicest of people. "Then, I would like to go home." He spoke, stretched out, wincing slightly and nodding. "Let's go home." He braced himself before stepping out of the door, and begining to walk, not even looking to see if the other was following him. A small laugh rose from his mouth, it was a bitter one. He was walking home, after everything that had just happened, all of that, he knew that everything was different know. All was quietly for a while, until he enhaled a large bit of smoke and began coughing harshly, though he did not stop to rest for he knew it would do him little good.

Vincent rolled his eyes. The concept of home that humans seemed so obsessed with eluded him. Why go to an empty place full of hurt sorrow and hurtful memories. It made no sense, it just seemed like they were stabbing themselves in the chest. Making no attempt to cover up the sigh he followed Jace outside into the cold snow, or what instinct told him was cold for he himself could not feel the change in temperature as he did not need to, as a demon it did not affect him, his body would a just accordingly without the need to the feeling, although he had no idea if th human body would. He dismissed the thought as delusional, he was probably over thinking it anyway.

The demon almost laughed as Jace started chocking on the minuscule smoke in the air. Were all humans this susceptible to such simple things, it was ridiculous. Once again rolling his eyes he asked in as polite a tone as he could muster, almost too polite that it sounded rude "Do you need me to carry you? if it would help your physical state i shall do so."

Jace waved his hand in the air and shook his head "No no, it is fine, I can do it." He spoke as he prepared himself once more, got a whole ten feet, stepped on a patch of ice, and fell straight to his face once again. Sitting up he rubbing his nose and sighed softly to himself. Sneezing softly he stopped, looking down at himself to see how sorry of a sight he must have been and began to laugh, he must have looked like a child that was throwing a tantrum. If his best friend was here, he would have made everything alright again, would have hoisted the smaller boy up and carried him home to where his family would be waiting with a warm dinner, he could take a bath, and could even climb into his nice bed. He thought about everything and and the other would have done together as he walked, stumbling all the while, he only walked for about two hours and somehow they still were not even in the city until finally he slumped down against a tree and spoke "I think we should call it a night" His eyes barely would stay open now, and his breathe could be seen in the air, a good 4 inches of snow had collected on the ground at this point.

Vincent stopped suddenly, he hadn't been expecting the sudden change in motion after the long time of walking at the same boringly slow pace. He looked at the man who appeared about ready to collapse and whom would in this cold no doubt get frostbite if they stayed still for to long. Over the walk he had finally began to come to term with what was happening and now was finally able to accept this dreary fate even if it was with a little resentment and a large quantity of contempt for the pathetic human.

Using good foot he remover the snow from the area below the tree Jace was leaning against, creating a small patch of clear grass he motioned to it. "Sit down and go to sleep, you might not freeze to death nor I have removed the snow. " sarcastically he added "sorry I couldn't whip up a for poster bed and a house but I am not good." He felt the need to justify his actions with sarcasm so the other male didn't mistake him for being a nice person or his friends.

Jace looked down at the now clear grass in confusion and nodded quietly, slouching down to the spot quickly and immediatly relaxing into the grass. Staring straight up at the sky, it was dark, cloudy, and snow was steadily falling down upon them, softly but surely. He remembered the last large snow storm they had, he and his best friend had created the biggest snow ball fight, until Jace accidently smacked the other with a snow ball that had a rock in it, the pair had never forgotten that, the mere memory of it made him smile. The times they had were simple, modest, and to the young boy, they were very special.

A few minutes of of silence past before he spoke again, looking straight up at the sky, he asked the demon, "Where do you come from? Hell? Or somewhere else? I swear, after I get all of this straightened out, I do not want to die yet, so can't let you go." He murmured his last words quietly before he promptly fell asleep.

Vincent looked down at the male now sitting on the floor. He knew he was asleep and yet ye still replied, softly saying "somewhere else...or maybe that is what you call hell..." His murmered reply was lost as the wind picked it up and vblew it far away with its soft but persistent breath.

Removing the black jacket he wore the demon threw it carelessly over Jace making a half hearted attempt to keep the man warm before he climbed into the lower branches of the trees and sat leaning against the truck and staring up at the endless sky. Watching as stars shot across the black expanse and constellations shifted their positions.

The day seemed to come to quickly, the snow had stopped long ago, however it was still freezing. Yawning wide, the young boy shifted where he laid down, reaching up to rub his eyes, for a moment, a split moment he was wondering why his bedroom was so cold, before he remembered everything, and mutely set up, however as he did he felt a weight fall from his body.

Looking down he frowned in confusion before he realized that he had the others jacket currently laying in his lap, frowning smiling down at it, he stood up, pulling the jacket with him. He looked around confused for a moment, not seeing where the demon was he began to freak out, eyes wide he looked back and fourth, he didn't want to be alone, he couldn't be alone. However he immediatly calmed down, when he glanced up and saw the demon sitting up in the tree. He called you, "Hey! Did you give me your jacket? Thank you!" he held it up into the air.

His tone was flat and uncaring bit his eyes showed a slight flicker of appreciation for the thanks he had gotten.

Rolling his arm in its socket trying to roof himself off the dull ache that resided there he asked "so where are we headed, have to still taken leave of your senses or did they fashion to return to you at some point during the night?"
