"This may sound a little strange coming from me and all but till and practic. We all have a lot to learn and only together will we get stronger and better at using our abilities."

She turned her gaze to Kai and her eyes saddened.

"He has lost someone. Someone close to him. He was looking for them before the explosion happened. I can feel a deep love coming from him."

J's face was soon graced with a small smile as he chuckled and nodded. “Well, there's a reason there's not one of us then...“ He said quietly while still holding Melody in his arms. She was so light... Like a feather, compared to his own weight.

The young male blinked a few times at what he heard next and tilted his head to one side a bit. “Really? Wait, didn't he mention a daughter or something like that?...“ J questioned while furrowing his brows. “Or am I just imagining things? God, I can't even tell reality from fantasy anymore...“

"After Zan caused Kai to run off he did mention he was off to find his daughter. She must be lost in the City near by. I hope the Fallen haven't got her. Zan possibly could stand up to them but the rest of us have no chance. The pain he must feel using such strong techniques and not showing an ounce of it on his face. I am sorry Zan."

Melody just gazed at the back on Zans head. Guilt rose within her once more.

J bit on his bottom lip for a while as he sighed out and shook his head. "Maybe we should try searching for her?.. If we'd know how she looked like..." He muttered out quietly - more to himself than to Melody. His expression stayed as a frown as he heard the next words ccoming from the other - seemed like she was truly feeling guilty about it. "It's not your fault, y'know. It's his choice, no one is forcing him to do this..."

His emerald green eyes showed a bit of pain as he looked at the blonde in his arms and slowly breathed out. "Do you really think Kai can work this all out?.."

Melody shock her head and looked at J.

"That's not what I meant. It's a long story. Not one for this moment in time. Though time will be the one to reveal it." Her gaze turned back to Zan.

"Kai will figure out what he is doing though I feel Kai and Zan will learn a lot from each other even though they don't know it."

J pursed his lips as he sighed out and shook his head. "I don't like when people keep important things from me..." He murmured out quietly as he pulled Melody closer to his chest, though his grip remained gentle and soft. "I hope you'll tell me soon..."

One of his eyebrows rose at the words he heard next as he let out a light, slightly mocking chuckle. "Kai? Learning something? I doubt he'll be able to get anything through his thick skull."

Melody flicked J on the nose.

"Bad Mystic. Bad. Stop picking on him. He may be older than yourself doesn't mean hes grown up."

She flciked his nose again playfully. She smiled at him enjoying his warm embrace. The pain had no subsided and she felt much better.

"I'm feeling better now J. Think i can stand again." She cooed softly.

J winced softly as he shook his head and huffed. "I'm not a dog!" He whined, somewhat playfully as he huffed again and put on a fake pout as he looked at Zan with Kai.

His pout soon turned into a slight smirk when he heard Melody's next words - instead of letting go, he only hugged her tighter and chuckled. "I can't let you go. I think my arms are stuck like this~" He teased lightly as he smiled softly, pulling her closer slightly. He didn't want to let go yet...

She chuckled as J pulled her closer.

"My, my Mr Hotrod does someone have an obsession with little ole me?" She questioned in the most innocent voice she could muster.

She didn't complain though. She did enjoy how he held her.

J blinked and raised his eyebrows with a soft laugh. "Can't blame me." He answered with a grin before shaking his head with a smile. "How come we're so relaxed when there's literaly fire fighting with ice?" The man asked with the slightest bit of somewhat cute confusion on his face.

J huffed softly as he took a step back and leaned against a building with Melody still in his arms. "Let's wait for these two to work it out, hm?" He offered with a light chuckle as he smiled and held her close, glanving down at her warmly.

  • 2 weeks later...

Kai's anger flared at the accusation that he wasn't calm; it was the last thing any angry man needed to hear. More blood rushed to his head; the thumping of his pulse loud and clear. It was difficult to think straight now that a headache was on the way. The painful throbbing he felt between his furrowed brows came on stronger. He’d tensed his muscles too tightly and it was spreading to his temples. He indeed needed to calm down but being told that just added oil to the fire. His voice cracked as he spat back, “CALM DOWN? CALM DOWN?! DON’T FUCKING TELL ME TO CALM DOWN WHEN MY LITTLE GIRL IS OUT THERE ALONE! SHE’S ONLY TWO!” He continued to vent his anger on the poor soul in front of him in a flood of nonsensical swear words. He huffed more visibly, breathing in and out to keep from actually popping a vein. Fatigue was trying to take control of his violently trembling body; he was feeling the aftermath of the raging and the use of his powers. He tried to fight it off.

Another shop sign set ablaze and collapsed onto the ground a few feet in front. Kai trailed off, finally noticing the fire. “Fire! It’s a fire!” Kai exclaimed, eyes darting left and right, observing the flames grow and ashes fluttering into the air. His heart raced harder and his breathing became even more laboured. Kai jumped back at the sight of the explosion, easily allowing Zan to remove his hand from the shirt and bringing his arm up to shield his face as if it had happened right in front of him. A subtle tingling started in the arm, having gripped the shirt too tightly. If the piece of fabric hadn't been there, his nail would have left marks in his palms. The muscle was sure to ache later. And another roar of fire flared in the distance.

Lowering his arm from his face, he realized that a mysterious wall of ice had erected itself behind Zan. He slowly took a step back and stumbled into another cold wall. Side-stepping, he ran into yet another wall, realizing that it was in fact a dome that had formed overhead. He panicked and checked all around, frantically running around like a mouse trapped in a large jar. The emergency situation settled his emotions from his state of anger and reverted him back to his overly talkative personality. Panicked and full of sarcasm, Kai barked a protest, “Yeah, sure I’d love to turn down the heat, except that I don’t know how because I’m not causing it! What the fuck is this thing? What kind of messed up nightmare is this? Ahhhh, damn it! How can you be so damn calm and crack jokes when everything is about to burn to the ground?! Anger isn’t the only thing that’ll ruin my good looks! Oh no. No, no, no, we’re going to burn to dea—”

A spark of pain had struck his brain; the same kind that he got when he went more than two days in a row without sleep. He grit his teeth to avoid a scream, but his face betrayed his attempt at hiding the pain. The bridge of his nose was scrunched and he had to squint to shield his eyes from the fierce rays of light coming from behind the thick panel of ice. Everything suddenly appeared too bright. He squeezed his eyes shut. The panic subsided as dizziness washed over him.

The timing was convenient. He convinced himself that all it was, was a very realistic hallucination and the dreamy state was overtaking his consciousness. Right. I’m probably dreaming again… Arrggg, I'm losing it. The hallucinations feel so real...But it can’t be real because this kind of stuff doesn’t happen in real life… The full-grown adult couldn’t comprehend their situation. Even when the supernatural ability was being displayed to him face-to-face, he had a hard time trusting that it was real. This man that he had practically just met had just somehow managed to pull another magic trick and enclosed them inside an igloo— of all things, a structure that melts— in the middle of a wildfire.

He hunched over, wrapped both arms around his head, and allowed his legs to give way. “Don’t worry we’ll find your daughter.” The phrase kept replaying in his head; they were the comforting words he had needed to hear and he had to convince himself that that was what was going to happen when they got out of this mess. But the reassurance only proved useful for that split second like the calm before the storm and then it hit him: “Shit. Shit, shit, shit! What if she’s nearby? Please Daiquiri, don’t come near the fire.” He was bent on the idea that she was still inside the candy store, that she was a good girl who without a doubt would have obediently gone to get her sweets. He shot up out of reflex— evidently too quickly because the next thing he saw was total darkness. The exhaustion had won, tipping him back towards the ground.

The flames had battled themselves the same way that Kai had fought with the fatigue. The size of the fire had fluctuated in tune with his emotions. The more he had panicked, the faster the fire had spread; and the faster it had spread, the more he had panicked. But eventually, the blue flames had swirled into the air and washed out. All you could see was smoke.

Meanwhile...

A little girl clad in pink waddled down the street back towards the direction she thought was the abandoned building her father had parted from her. She wrapped her arms tighter around the large paper bag she carried. It was a little too large and a little too heavy for the child. The top of the bag reached up to her nose, making it so that only her eyes could be seen over the bag. Every so often, she would have to pause to shuffle the bag higher into her arms because it had slipped lower since the last time she shifted it. The heavy extra luggage weighed her down, making the walk seem excruciatingly long.

The frills on her princess-pink one-piece bounced in time with the white pompoms on her furry pink coat as well as her short brown pigtails. She did a little jog and hopped in excitement; she was anticipating when she would finally get to sink her tiny growing teeth into a sugar-filled chocolate bar. Daiquiri struggled to peer into the paper bag, stumbling a little. A box of Smarties slipped out of the crooked sack, but she managed to catch her balance before the entire bag ended up spilled over the gravel path. Eyeing the fallen sweets, she licked her lips.

A kind, sophisticated voice cautioned her, “careful sweetie~ You don’t want to trip and spill your candy.” The pretty lady in the tight black dress bent over to pick up the chocolate and re-place it in her bag. Had any man been looking, they would have seen her black laced panties hiding under the smooth fabric. Except that the two girls were in a secluded area, far from any man.

The small Japanese girl had met the beautiful lady a little distance from the building with “Vidalaria” etched over the door and they had accompanied each other to the store. Knowing all her favourites, Daiquiri had taken no time in the humble candy shop. And the C-cup beauty had been there to help her reach the treats on the higher shelves. They were now walking side-by-side towards the direction that her new companion had claimed was the same one they had come from.

A low rumble sounded somewhere far away, distracting the little Japanese girl long enough to be grabbed into an alleyway by large, strong arms. “Hyaaa!” She squealed before a folded over cloth covered her nose and mouth. Instinctively, she dropped the bag of candy and grabbed at the hand holding the cloth in place. She kicked her fur boot backwards, but it didn’t seem to make an impact. There was an unfamiliar, disgusting smell on the cloth that made her sleepy. Her vision blurred and her eyelids lowered themselves. Then her body went limp.

Zan rolled his eyes as Kai fell to the floor.

"Well this won't do at all." He mumbled to himself.

Looking over his shoulder he spied Melody and J.

"Care to lend a hand J. Just a quick spurt of water to fully dose the embers. Melody you know what to do." Zan shouted back at them.

Lowering his hand and letting it fall to his side the dome melted away to nothing. Turning on his heel he looked at Kai and sighed. Kneeling down he picked the fallen Fire Mystic in his arms and carried him over to the others.

"Melody we have an issue. Kai went and lost his daughter. Once we've dealt with this little fiasco maybe we should help the silly little man her before we start his training." Zan hugged Kai close to his as he spoke making sure he was protected.

J blinked a few times when he realized Zanrimanon had called out for him. With a soft sigh, he set Melody down and lightly ran a hand across her cheek. "Don't overdo it while I stop the flames, kay?" He teased softly with a grin before turning around to walk off.

The water mystic took in a deep breath as he collected himself - using his powers was awfully hard, especially since he'd just started it all... Even so, soon enough he was pouring enough water on all the areas where it seemed like burning still. This little action already drained a lot of his energy...

By the time he was done, J was panting slightly, his head slowly beginning to ache. He half-consciously turned back to Zan and began walking up to him and Melody as he listened to what the other mage had to say.

"We should..." He murmured out as he walked up to Melody and exhaled a bit shakily. "Even if he is a damn perv, guess he cares about his daughter... Any ideas where to look?" He asked with a raised brow while moving one hand back around the woman's waist rather protectively.

His emerald green eyes didn't miss the fact that Zan was holding Kai a bit more snuggle-y than a... Stranger would. Then again, he and Melody were kind of the same...

The shadow cleared slowly around him, just in time to see Kasper’s rampage, the man did not even notice his arrival. It was a desolate place, merely rubble and ruin. This was the place he had wished to destroy once, but then it became more than just here as he found out all humans were the same and it was not restricted to simply their village. Taking a few steps he found surprise at how solid his steps were, there was no weakness in them and he found he strength fully returned. Not only where he was prior to calling the darkness, but to a level before they had been trapped. Somehow the residual power of this place called Vidalaria was now coursing through his veins, reforming magic connections he had forgotten he could use.

Phantas stare in unhidden glee at his hands as they twisted and melded in the air, drawing, forming and virtually giving life to the shadows that lurked under the rubble. He watched them dance and fight with each other before he broke the shadows, forcing them to now expand, filling a space greater than they had been able to occupy forming a small space of pure darkness inside which he stood as he marvelled at the precise control he now had over the shadows and the power coupled with it.

It was as this space was being formed that Kato stepped through, seeing the disappearing figure of Phantas and knowing he didn’t need to worry. The man was perfectly capable and there was no trap, at least not yet and Kasper had a feeling that the darkness that now completely surrounded Phantas was a physical barrier between himself and the world.

Kato himself didn’t feel any massive increase in power, he had never been able to create flame from nothing and with no fire around he could not even test this, though it would be interesting to have a look at when he returned to the castle. That moment came sooner than he thought was possible when the ruins seemed to be pulled away from them, the bubble that was Phantas remained with Kato and the visage of the meeting room returned. Kato was standing where he had been before the door had been opened, and Phantas was behind him, the shadows slowly clearing.

Phantas himself was still absorbed with his own powers when they started to clear. He wasn’t surprised by the location change and when he was able to look around the room fully he simply smiled, the expression full of plans and ideas as he sat back down in his chair and waited.

Zan looked J dead in the eye and a evil grin spread across his lips.

"The Mirror of the Elders. The final gift given to us was a mirror to see the Elders and see what we are looking for. If we call it forward we can find his Daughter." A glint in his eye sparkled as he spoke.

Holding the Fire Mystic close to his chest even tighter he rejoiced in the warmth a little. He'd never been able to feel heat in such a long time it was almost like a dream. Though something else brought his arms around this man. A strange connection that pulled him to this man. Some form of bond was already there in his mind and heart though he couldn't see or understand it.

"Lets hurry back before someone spots us." With that Zan made his way back to their stronghold with Kai still in his arms.

Melody watched in delight as J put the last of the flames and smoke out. Once he had done so she winked at him and the area around the returned to as it once looked though a little blackened round the edgs still. Casually she looked the Mystic up and down a few times and realised she did like what she saw in both look and personality. Grabbing his hand she pulled him in the direct Zan had walked off.

"Come on J." She giggled.

"Great job by the way. Coming alonging nicely." Her voice turned serious just for a moment then she giggled again.

"Got a mirror to call forth."

“Like what you see?“ J teased softly when he noticed how Melody looked him up and down. A wide grin spread on his face as he lightly squeezed the woman's hand and smiled. It should've been illegal to be this cute and powerful, even fierce for one person!

“Do I want to know more about the mirror or should I just shut up and walk?“ The mystic asked carefreely as he let go off Melody's hand to instead wrap a hand around her waist. He definitely liked this more... What he also liked - even loved - was Melody complimenting him.

“Really?“ He asked with a chuckle while smiling. The tall male leaned down slightly to place a kiss on the other's top of the head. “You have no idea how much this boosts my confidence...“ He said over-dramatically while placing a hand over his heart. “There can not be a greater pleasure that hearing such a praise coming from you!“

Here he couldn't take it any longer and just burst out laughing - really, he could joke around even in this kind of a situation...

"Yes really. I don't throw compliments around lightly." She smiled softly at him at she spoke.

"The mirror isn't anything to worry about. The Mystics created it to have contact with the Elders in times of great strife. So combining their abilities they created the mirror. It has been called many things over the years but the first name for it was the mirror of the Elders. Or the mirror for short. At our current stage it'll take all of us to call it forth; it is possible to call it alone but the damage it could cause may leave you a shattered person so to speak." As Melody spoke the combination of light hearted and serious tones escaped her small explanation.

She looked at Zan and smiled gently at him.

"Very few are able to call the mirror alone and come away pretty much intact. A Mystic with immense power power can do it and not many of those around today."

Melody studied Js body type and smiled. Released his hand and gentle pushed of the tips of her toes and landed very softly onto his shoulder. She giggled as she made herself comfy sat on his shoulder.

"I hope you don't mind sweetie." The small Irish girl chirped happily winking at her fellow Mystic.

"How is Kai?" Melody called to Zan as he walked slightly ahead of them.

"He is breathing but other than that I couldn't tell you. Not a Doctor here." Zan didn't stop walking or turn to face them. He just casually headed back into the building he called home and made his way to the penthouse.

He walked down the row of rooms until one opened at the sense of the Fire Mystic. Walking into the darkened room Zan laid the man in his arms onto the bed and brushed his hair out of his eyes. He was rather cute when not being a perv. Leaving the room he pulled the door too but didn't close it fully incase he woke up soon. Flicking his wrist he created a chill around himself. He need to cool down. The heat of the fire Mystic had burnt him up a bit. Even his skin had been marked from the intense heat coming off him. Maybe cooling them both down could of helped a little. Walking to the kitchen he removed a glass and poured himself a drink of water and cooled it down with his touch. Taking a seat on the large sofa he sighed.

"Melody?" Zan questioned.

"Uhhh..." J stared at Melody when she "explained" about the mirror while the man just furrowed his brows and huffed. "So, to say it simply, there's a literal mirror that allows people to contact with dead people that happen to be our ancestors?" He asked with slight confusion as he rubbed his eyes and sighed. "Man, this is confusing." He mumbled out with the slightest bit of irritation in his voice.

When Melody somehow landed on his shoulder, J was definitely surprised at how light she was. He slowly raised the arm on the side the girl was on and gently placed it on her hips to hold her in place. "I don't mind, but please try not to fall down..." He said with a slightly worried face. Walking after Zan, he glanced at the old perv, huffing quietly. "Pretty sure if someone was to shout something perverted about women, he'd wake up instantly." He mumbled out angrily as they reached home. Home... Could he call this place home already?

The man walked off to the living room while carrying Melody on his shoulder. "Hey, you gonna stay here or would you rather sit somewhere more comfortable? Like... My lap, maybe~?" J offered with a wink as he chuckled and slowly sat down on an armchair.

Melody smiled at Js suggestion. Winking back at him she vanished from his shoulder and appeared on the sofa. Looking over her shoulder she smiled.

"Not just yet sweetie." She giggled playfully.

Zan walked by and Melodys smile faded.

"Look Zan I know Kai is missing his daughter but we need to resolve this quick and I mean quick. The Fallen will be looking for us and after this afternoons little dramas they will know we are alive. J and Kai have little experience and we need to get them up to scratch as soon as possible."

She smiled softly at both Zan and J.

"Sweetie? Can you do me a favour please." She called to the Water Mystic sweetly.

J was slightly upset when Melody disappeared from his shoulder - and didn't end up on his lap. The man huffed softly and crossed his legs, placing the left one on top. He put his right elbow on the armchair and rested his head on his hand. "Mean." He mumbled out softly as he looked at the girl, looking a bit like an upset puppy.

A soft sigh left his mouth as he watched Melody talk to Zan about the old pervert. They really cared about that guy? J huffed quietly and looked away, even as his name was mentioned. Wasn't what he did today enough already? The amount of power he had to use when he first used his powers was exhausting... He'd die from exhaustion if he was forced to train over and over again!

"Mmn?" J was pulled out of his thoughts thanks to Melody's voice, now directed towards her. "Depends on what it is..." He said in a questioning tone, raising one eyebrow.

She smiled sweetly at the little sad puppy.

"Can you go sit with Kai for a moment. I Need a moment with Zan." She smiled softly as she spoke and fluttered her eyelids at him.

"Pretty please sweetie."

Melody winked again and appeared on his lap. Wrapping her arms around his neck she tilted her head.

"I promise to go easier on you next training session." She said with a hint of suduction in her voice.

"No way in hell." J said firmly at the awful request. "I can leave if you want me to, but... I won't sit with that horrible pervert." The man said with crossed arms. Even when Melody sat down on his lap, he didn't change his mind... However, he did wrap his arms tightly around the woman, holding her closer to himself.

"You're just being unfair now..." He muttered out as he hid his face into the girl's neck, sighing quietly. "I'll go and you can have your talk..." The man mumbled out, clearly a bit upset. Could he not be trusted? He was a Mystic, wasn't he? Though yes, there may have been some other things, non-Mystic related, but... Still. It was unfair.

"J please. Do this for me. Zan and I need just need a moment alone. Trust me Sweetie. Just Sit with Kai for a moment." Melody spoke softly.

Resting her forehead against Js she smiled gently.

"I promise a time will come when all is revealed."
