The next couple of days were chaotic, to say the least. After Ethan’s epiphany, all the fur balls on the Praxiteles had been bundled up and unkindly shoved into the teleportation room. Only one such creature had been kept for medical purposes and, even though he’d never admit it to Nathaniel, Ethan had insisted on it being the little hissing and spitting ball that had attached itself to his technician. After the biologists had shock-frozen it, new tests were made and it was discovered that creatures were actually parasitic life forms that fed off the life energy of a being. Over the next few days, Ethan had little time to reflect on his and Nathaniel’s adventures to KELT-1, but one night he suddenly awoke from his sleep and recalled those mystic words that the hooded beings had spoken: sometimes not all is what it seems, some things should be left where they are found. It struck him only then that the hooded figures had probably been meaning the rabbit-like creature. Ethan only wished this second flash of wit had occurred earlier to have prevented all that had occurred.

While he was kept glued to his seat inside his office, seeing grieving parents and the partners of those who had lost loved ones, Ethan only managed to catch a wink of Nathaniel during the night. Of course he wasn’t let into the technician’s hospital room out of fear of further contamination, but the guards, above all Ryan, who had made it his personal mission to watch over Nathaniel until he awoke, let him at least remain by the window and peer into the room. Ethan’s heart went out to the technician and he couldn’t help but wonder how Nathaniel would feel after he woke up. Even though he’d personally hated the beings, the technician had grown very fond of his parasitic rabbit-imitation. Somehow Ethan didn’t want to let his technician go through yet another depressive phase and, even though he arrived late for a latently suicidal mother, he arranged a short meeting with one of the biologists on the ship.

Exhausted that night as he fed some lettuce into the cardboard box where Ethan had placed the fluffy grey rabbit clone he’d had to dash out a lot of food ration cards for, the psychologist nursed his splitting headache. He wouldn’t be able to make it up to the medical bay that night, that was sure. But in his thoughts, Nathaniel was never far. Smiling softly at the timid little rabbit as it nibbled on the lettuce and gazed up at Ethan through wide, frightened eyes, the psychologist chuckled. “You at least like me.” Just then a quiet knocking sounded at his door. Ethan’s first impulse was to throw himself onto his bed and pretend to be asleep- he really wasn’t in the mood for seeing another patient- he’d had enough. But when he heard the subdued voice and recognized it, Ethan opened the door and wrapping his arms around his technician, pulled Nathaniel into the room. “Forgive me,” he cut the younger boy off and lowering his face to the technician’s, gave Nathaniel a long, passionate tongue kiss. His hands passed over Nathaniel’s weak frame and into the white, tousled hair as the psychologist tried to reassure himself that all was really well with him. Opening his eyes and pulling back with slightly pink cheeks, Ethan looked critically over Nathaniel. Seeing that the younger male had no shoes on, he picked the technician up and put him down on his bed, admonishing the technician lightly. “Honestly Nathan, what are you doing? Do you want to catch a cold? You really are like a child sometimes.” But then Ethan smiled and cupping Nathaniel’s face in his hands, he tenderly kissed the slightly pouting lips. “Close your eyes, sweetheart,” he prompted, feeling his headache slowly beginning to fade away. Once the technician had complied, Ethan placed the box with the tiny rabbit inside. “Open them.”

Nathaniels eyes went wide as he felt the familar arms quickly circle around him, a soft smile spread over his face as he relaxed. He didn't look mad at him, and in Nathaniels mind he figured he would have been in for a lecture about how he never should have brought momo back to the ship anyway. But to be welcomed back with such a warm welcoming, almost brought tears to his eyes. His arms went up around the other and hugged him tightly, this is where he wanted to be, this is where he belonged, in Ethans embrace. He followed after in Ethans arms as they basically stumbled back on the psychiatrists room. The moment he felt those plump lips press against his own he, in turn, reached up and tangled his hands in Ethans shirt as he kissed back softly, allowing his eyes to flutter close as he tilted his head further into the kiss. His lips parted when they were prompted to in order to allow the others tongue to probe his mouth, the sensation causing chills to go up the smaller boys spine as he almost groaned into the kiss, just barely managing to hold it silently in his throat. He was glad it was dim in the room, other wise he knew the other would see the bright tint to his cheeks and ears, though it was not dim enough that Nathaniel missed the pink hue to Ethans cheeks, the fact that he could make the psychologist blush gave him a feeling of proud satisfaction. His ams wraapped around Ethans neck when he felt his feet lifted from the ground, almost letting out a sound of protest when was sat down and felt the arms leave from around him. His lips pursed together in a mock pout, but that was quickly whipped off his face when he felt the soft hands cup his face, causing him to tilt his head up in the expectation of a kiss, which was quick and soft. His eyes slid shut as he obediently sat on the edge of the bed, his heart beat had picked up at being called sweet heart as he sat, unsure of why his eyes needed to be shut. The moment he opened his eyes he stared in confusion down at the small , soft ball of fur that was sitting, sniffing at the air. For a horrified moment he thought it was one of the creatures, but in a few seconds he realized it was just a rabbit. He was confused how to act, at first he just stared at the small thing with a blanket face, but then he slowly, hesitantly reached forward and extended his hand so that the bunny could sniff his finger. Once it sniffed his finger for long enough it shuffled forward in the box and butted it's head against his hand, to which he carefully reached down and picked it up with both hands. It kicked uncomfortably for a moment before he held it against his chest, then ti settled down and nuzzled up against his warm chest. Holding it there he smiled warmly down at it and watched as it lifted it's head and climbed a bit so it could nibbled at his hair. Shifting it down so it could sit in his lap, he reached over and pulled Ethan into a very tight hug, pressing his face to the others neck he sniffled softly against, "Thank you so much Ethan, you always know what to say and do." He murmured softly, completely happy for the first time since he had woken up, he never wanted to leave the embrace.

Ethan had watched Nathaniel’s face very carefully. He had been afraid that the technician suddenly wouldn’t appreciate the bunny rabbit, that he might be affronted or believe that Ethan had wanted to play a mean prank on him, but he oughtn’t have worried: Nathaniel’s face, although it remained untouched for an instance, began to shine again as he realized that he once again had a furry companion to fawn over and cuddle. And once again, the creature soon decided that Nathaniel was to be trusted and as it hopped around in the techie’s lap, trying to make itself comfortable, Ethan tried to suppress a laugh as the bunny tried to nibble some of his techie’s white hair, mistaking it for food: it really did seem as if Nathaniel was a natural when it came to taming animals. And suddenly Nathaniel’s emotions overcame him as the psychologist found the technician embracing him tightly, his voice emotional. Ethan’s arms came up to wrap themselves around Nathaniel. Kissing the top of the younger man’s head, Ethan sighed. “I just wanted to make you happy, Nathan. I guessed you wouldn’t feel well when you woke up and realized what had happened with those fur balls and all the trouble they’d caused, but you really did become attach to that Momo. So I asked one of the scientists to clone you a rabbit. He’s one hundred percent docile and harmless, but what I most like about him is that he doesn’t mind me and isn’t over-protective of you,” he joked, reaching over to scratch the bunny rabbit behind his ears. The small creature began to shiver with fear, but realizing that it wasn’t in danger, relaxed and nuzzled its head into the psychologist’s hand.

For a while the two of them simply sat there side by side, enjoying each other’s company and the fact that Ethan still had his arms wrapped around Nathaniel. Thinking back to the message he had received shortly before Nathaniel had shown up, Ethan sighed, pulling away slightly. “Nathan, there’s another reason why I wanted you to have this little fellow,” he admitted, leaning back on his hands, his green eyes perturbed as he lifted them to meet the technician’s warm amber ones. “It seems as if the Praxiteles’s sensors have picked up what seems to be an abandoned alien ship floating in the vicinity near the edge of the Andromeda Galaxy. A new crew is being assembled right now and I’ve been asked to join them. Apparently,” he rushed on, seeing the facial expression on Nathaniel’s face and feeling guilty, “the ship is not responding to any of the Praxiteles’s attempts of communication and since its obviously not of human origin, it’s being treated as a potentially hostile. And since I’m the only psychologist on board this ship, I once again have to join the crew in case we do make contact.” Ethan’s eyes were troubled as he reached over to caress Nathaniel’s cheek, passing his left thumb over his technician’s lower, pouty lip. “I tried to ask for them to also let you go, but after what happened on KELT-1, the Captain decided it would be best for you to sit this adventure out. I’ll probably have to leave the Praxiteles in two day’s time so…I wanted to ask you if…if you wanted to spend the rest of my time here together with me,” he asked quietly, lowering his long lashes.

Nathaniel smiled down at the small creature that was relaxed in his lap, watching as it got scared of it's own ears at one point. Though he would never admit it, he enjoyed small animals because they reminded him of himself, small, harmless, often over looked, easily frightened, clingy once they find the right person to cling to. He ran his fingers over the small things hair once again, smiling down at it. "Well you really did make me happy, everyone was blamming me for the other animals, and it wasn't my fault, well it wasn't but I wasn't trying to hurt anyone." He sighed, leaning closer to the other, he smiled down at him. However he looked over, frowning when he saw Ethan pull away from him slightly. Tilting his head as he subcontiously leaned forward, he could see there was something troubling on the others face. Listening he leaned away as well, a catch, of course there was a catch. As he listened to the other his face seemingly paled, his lips dropping from there smile pursing together in a pout. Letting out a sigh he tilted his head into the others hand softly, wanting to kiss the hand that was stroking his lips but found that this was not the time. Shifting lightly he reached down and set the rabbit beside him on the bed, standing up he brushed the hair from the medical night gown before shifting lightly and standing in front of Ethan. He now stood abotu a foot taller than the sitting psychiatrist, reaching down he cupped Ethans face in his hands and tilted it up so that he could look Ethan directly in the eyes. ""Ethan, I would like nothing more than that. But you have to promise me one thing, okay?" He murmured, bending down a bit, he pressed his lips softly to the others before leaning back again. "Promise me that this will not be a goodbye, okay? If you go, you have to promise to come back." Threading his fingers through Ethans hair he continued, "You make me happier than anyone else, I couldn't take it if anything happened to you. I know they won't let me go with you after last time, so just promise me, that you will be there when they beam you back. Promise me that I will see you there with the returning group. Can you do that?" He spoke, his eyes not leaving Ethans, as he finished he didn't even give the other time to answer before dippign his head down, wrapping his arms around the psychologists neck and pressing to him in a soft kiss, stepping forward so he could push Ethan backwards so he was laying back on the bed and Nathaniel was ontop of him, kissing his softly once again, pulling back softly he trailed his fingers over the others cheek. "Can you promise me that, please?"

Ethan bounced lightly on the bed, his eyes fluttering when Nathaniel lay down on top of him. He could hear Nathaniel’s quiet plea, but it was only after the technician had sat up again and repeated his question, Ethan reached out to take a handful of Nathaniel’s hair, tugging him back down to his lips. Sucking against the technician’s lip, Ethan turned Nathaniel over so that he was the one laying on top, half his body on the bed, the other on the technician’s. “Nathaniel, I can’t promise you something like that,” he said gently, smiling softly as he gazed into the amber eyes he had come to care so much about that his heart clenched at the thought of losing him. “Anything can happen on such a mission. It doesn’t sound like a difficult task, but who knows? None of us would have expected that a short expedition down to KELT-1 would turn out to have such detrimental repercussions? I can’t say “I’ll definitely be back”, but I can swear to you that I will pay a lot of attention and will do my best to get back to you as quickly as I can,” he swore, sneaking his free arm beneath Nathaniel’s back and moving it upwards, used it to cushion Nathaniel’s head. Lowering the hand in the technician’s hair to the front of Nathaniel’s hospital gown, Ethan chuckled lightly. “You know, Nathan, it’s never a good idea to enter a man’s room dressed to lightly,” he told the younger man with twitching lips. “After all…” The psychologist began to walk over Nathaniel’s chest, walking lower, over his stomach to draw a heart there. “…you might give me strange ideas…”

Nathaniel blushed softly when he suddenly found himself underneath the other, he shifted slightly, unsure of how to react. In the corner of his eye he saw the small rabbit that he had decided to name Mark, after the friend that Ethan had lost, quickly hop around and begin exploring the large bed. When it saw the two large humans fall back onto the bed it quickly hopped back into the saftey of it's box. He closed his eyes as he tilted his head towards the other and smiled against the lips, expecting to hear the promise that he was waiting for. But when he didn't hear those words he pulled back slightly, his breathing picked up when he felt those skilled fingers tracing a heart on his chest. He closed his eyes and shivered lightly at the feeling, for a moment he had forgotten what he was trying to get Ethan to promise him and was only focusing on Ethans touch and what exactly he could be considering doing to him. But then he remebered and quickly pushed Ethan off of him, and climbed back off the bed, pushing himself from it he turned to face Ethan again, making sure to keep out of arms reach, if the psychologist reached out to touch him, Nathaniel knew that he would just melt again and once again forget what he was doing, this was to important to him for him to just let go. He planted his feet stubbornly before he continued, his fists were clenched tight and his eyes looked a pit watery, "Ethan please, you have to promise me this. I can't take it if you can't, if you get in a tight spot you can remember the promise to me and know that you have no other choice than to come back. Please, Ethan just promise me this!" He cried out, stepping forward, his slightly louder voice was thick and his eyes were a bit red, both warnings that he was holding back tears. He knew he couldn't loose Ethan, if he did it would destroy him, he held back a choked sob that tried to escape his lips by pursing them together. His clenched hands begna to shake slightly as he stared the other directly in the eye, "Promise me that or I can't stay with you." He murmured finally, standing his ground determined as he watched Ethan, waiting for his responce.

When Nathaniel once again pushed him away, Ethan felt a flame of ire. What was this? Why did, each time that he attempted to go further with the technician, always something get in between? It had up to then always been either that pathetic fur ball, the hooded figures, or Nathaniel fainting on him at the least appropriate time. And now Nathaniel was stalling again- was he suddenly having second thoughts about them? Trying to hide his annoyance when Nathaniel clenched his hands to fists and faced him with an instant expression on his face, the psychologist listened. Instead of immediately answering, Ethan looked to the side. The little rabbit didn’t seem to enjoy the loud voices and was cowering against the floor. Leaning over to pick the trembling being up, Ethan began to caress its back, still not looking into Nathaniel’s eyes.

“My father was a doctor working for the First Earth Brigade,” he said quietly. “My mother and I begged him not to join the army during the last war on Planet Earth, but he insisted on going, saying that doctors like him were needed, that he would be okay, that he wouldn’t be in the immediate line of fire, that he would stay out of trouble. My mother refused to let him go until my father took both her and my hand and promised us solemnly that he’d definitely return, that he’d be fine, that nothing could happen to him because he’d be thinking about us the whole time and that his love for us would protect him and guide him back to us.” Ethan smiled bitterly. “My father never returned. I was a child when he made that promise to me and I saw how my mother went to pieces after his disappearance. One day a man in an army suit walked up our front porch to hand us a folded up flag. I didn’t understand what was going on, but when my mother broke down the first time and explained that my father would never return, I blamed myself. I thought it had been my fault because my father had promised he’d return and that our love for him would protect him. Since he’d died, I blamed myself that I didn’t love him enough, that I hadn’t wished him to return safely to me as much as I ought to have. It took me years to understand that I wasn’t the one who had done anything wrong, but my father, because he made a promise he couldn’t possibly have kept.” The psychologist raised his eyes and they were cold and hard as he held the rabbit out to Nathaniel. “We don’t live in a fantasy world, Nathaniel. People can really die out here in space and they will. I promised myself, when I was old enough to really understand, that I wouldn’t make the same stupid promise again. I can’t promise you that I’ll return, so I won’t. So either accept that and pray with me that I’ll return…or there’s the door.” Ethan knew this was very harsh, but this was a point he wasn’t going to budge on.

Nathaniel listened to the others story and wanted to just collapse against him, he wanted to hold him close and run his fingers through Ethans hair, to comfort him, to tell him those false comforts of it's alright. But he knew he couldn't, he wanted to be Ethans special person, and to Nathaniel, Ethan already was his special person, and he knew that he could not handle it if Ethan died or did not return from the trip. Reaching up he rubbed his eyes with the back of his hand, and took a moment to calm himself. He ranhis hand through his hair to pull it back from his face before nodding, stepping forward he took the small rabbit in his hands gently and stood still long enough for it to calm down from being adjusted once again. Looking at Ethans face once more he nodded, stepping forward he bent down and kissed him, softly, but deeply, trying to put all of his feelings that he could not properly profess into that actions. After a long few moments, he stepped back and allowed tears to fall from his eyes, holding the small bunny closer to him as it sniffed at him quickly he smiled at Ethan and nodded then spoke, "Alright, I understand your need to be honest with me. I'll be going now then, thank you, for everything, I wish you luck on your trip." His words were curt and clearly forced, and when he could take it no more he turned on his heels and calmly left. He would have broke into a run the moment he was in the hall but due to the small life he helf in his hands he knew he couldn't. It took all of his strength to calmly walk back to his room, he only made it halfway there when he heard someone call his name, "Nathaniel! Hey kid!" He stopped, rubbing his eyes quickly to dispell any lingering tears as he turned to come face to face with a grinning Ryan, "I see your up and walking that is great, and you managed to get yourself a new pet there?" He reached down and pat it's head gently before stopped when he got a good look at Nathaniels face, pulling his sleeve up he gently wipped the others tear stains cheek. "Have you been crying? My son, Drake, his lower lip used to quiver when he cried too. Everything okay?" Nathaniel simply nodded mutely, not havign the energy to really be here arguing right now, he continued, "Are you going to be on the trip to the abondoned spaceship?" He relaxed a bit when the other nodded slowly,"I'll be on there, if it's your boy you are worried about don't fret, i'll take good care of him for you." Nathaniels cheeks tinted softly as he smiled up at the man, who reached down and ruffled his hair. With that Nathanie turned on his heels and made his way back to his cabin where he locked the door and set the bunnie on the end of his bed so it could settle down, climbing into his bed he pulled up the small creature and watched it jump around on his chest and stomach, he lay like that for a good few hours, completely unable to sleep as worry for Ethan consumed him.

Ethan was left stunned, staring at the door like a moron. Never. Never in a million years had he expected Nathaniel to really walk out on him. He’d been expecting another loud outburst- perhaps even Nathaniel bursting into tears and calling him names, saying that he was cruel, but for the technician to pick up his new pet and simply leave…Ethan was left at a loss for words. In the first place, what did that even mean? Where did that leave him and Nathaniel? Were they over before they’d even begun? Did Nathaniel believe Ethan had pushed him away for good? Had the technician classified the rabbit as Ethan’s parting farewell present to him? “Oh…gosh…” the psychologist groaned, pressing his fingers into his eyes to massage them. Since when were human relations so unclear to him? Wasn’t he supposed to be the expert there? Why hadn’t he expected that reaction?

Sleep didn’t come to him that night and the following day, Ethan functioned like a zombie. Sitting and nodding here and there to things his patients told him, he more or less came up with something intelligent when his counterparts looked at him for guidance, but every now and then Ethan’s eyes would wander to his watch, expecting to find a message from Nathaniel, a sign of life, but nothing of that sort ever came. And that night, Ethan walked up to the observation desk, even went down to where he had first met Nathaniel and went to hover near the technician’s cabin door, but he couldn’t find the younger man. Crushed and bitterly accusing himself for having been so harsh, Ethan only listened with half an ear as he and the remainder of the ten-headed crew were briefed before they were to board a small shuttle that would take them to the alien ship. As he stood up when everyone else around him did, Ethan sort of woke up from his sleepy state when someone nudged him. “Oh…Ryan, wasn’t it?” The guard he’d previously been jealous of grinned at him as he boarded the shuttle beside the psychologist, holding his laser at the ready. “I promised a little bunny-hugging kiddo that I’d look out for you, so here I am,” he winked. Ethan’s hopes, that had hit rock bottom, began to rise marginally. Really? Nathaniel had been so worried that he’d spoken to the soldier. As the camera on the guard’s chest went on and began to film, allowing those remaining on the Praxiteles to see what the other ship looked like, one of the first images broadcast around the ship was Ethan’s happily smiling face.

Nathaniel wanted to go see the other so badly, four different times he found himself standing outside the others door, with his hand poised to knock. The last time he did though he heard someone call out his name and had to dodge out of the way to avoid being seen. He had not let go of the bunnie, in the few days he and the small animal had already grown very close. Though he had promised himself that he would not go to the pod launching, he somehow found himself standing there, in the crowd of people looking up at the big screen. The moment he saw that smiling face on the monitor he melted and cringed at the same time. Ethan looks happy, like nothing was bothering him, like not being able to say goodbye to Nathaniel was no big deal. The moment the count down started he turned and made his way back to his room, quickly falling onto his mattress and playing with the rabbits ears.

They watched as the aliens began to approach there ship, wicked hisses went throughout the colony as they confered about how best to despose of the oncoming ship. "Divide and conqor!" One of the wicked creatures hissed, "Yes, we will divide them up, and pick them off one at a time. Perfect. Mind your wits and do not make a mess of them, do it orderly!" One of them hissed out, a razor sharp tongue hissed between pointy teeth. The aliens were similar in apperance to raptors, only they stood up on there back two legs nearly straight. The moment the group boarded the ship, all the creatures went quiet. They waited until they had made it a few feet before they ran in, there hideous farms scaring the humans, causing them to all split off and run in different directions, two of them had not run fast enough and were quickly ripped to shreds by razor sharp teeth and nails. One of the larger ones caught hold of ethan and ripped at him, searing right through his size, to witch Ryan raised his lazor and shot at it, the creature cried out and fell back, Ryan ran forward, threw the fallen boy over his shoulder and took off down one ofthe corridors.

He could feel the others blood seeping onto him and yelled, "Stay with me, talk to me! I promised that kid to get you back and I keep my promises!"He ran for a good 20 minutes and after he was sure no one was following him, he threw the boy down as gentle as he could and quickly began to put pressure to the wound. However, there was a sound to there right, he quickly aimed his gun, straight at his college who was dragging himself towards him, Ryan stood and shot over to him, shaking him gently as he looked him over, trying to access the wounds. "You stay with me, i'll fix you right up to!" The man simply shook his head before he stammered out, "D-Don't....don't trust what you see." With that his hand fell limply to the side and he was gone. With watery eyes he stood and turned back to the other injured boy reaching down to once again press agaisnt the bleeding wound, blood, there was so much blood and he didn't know how to stop it. He couldn't let the guy die, he had promised he would bring him back. However once again, there was a sound to his right, he raised his gun, fully prepared again but his eyes went wide as he saw the figure round the corner.

The familar white hair causing him to drop his gun. It was nathaniel, and he didn't look good, he held his arm that seemed to be bleeding, blood matted his hair and his face and trailed down his shirt. "Kid!" He cried out, running forward again, and only when he got close enough to see that the being hard razor sharp teeth did he realize that it was a mind trick ad not actually NAthaniel. He tried to real back, to stop himself but it was to late, the creature still in the form of Nathaniel reached out and dug those razor sharp nails right across the mans chest, causing him to fall to the ground with a dull thunk. Ryan cried out in pain as he held his chest, hazily, through blurried vision he yelled to Ethan "Kid....get up! Run!"

Nathaniel heard tht there was a commotion on the other ship when he was down in the kitchen area, and his eyes went wide as he dropped his plate of food and ran up to the command room. The moment he saw the captain he yelled. "Sir! What happened? Is everything okay?!"When the man simply olled his eyes annnoyed, Nathaniel growled softly before running to stand in front of the other and putting his arms out wide."Sir! I have very close friends on there, please!"The man grumbled, annoyed before sighing and reaching out to clap his hand onto NAthaniels shoulder. "I'm sorry but there was an ambush, we couldn't see much from the cameras, but it seems that the aliens can scan individuals, and recreate there apperances into those closest to the us. We were unprepared, it was a blood bath. There are dead, now go and play with your trinkets." He spoke gruffly, before shoving the boy to the side and continued his buisness. The entire world seemed to stop, Ethan, oh god, his Ethan. The one that he had laughed with, laid with, the one who had helped him, forgiven him, the one that he loved. In less than a moment he knew what he had to do, climbing to his feet, nodding he mumbled a soft.

"Yes sir, thank you, sir." Before he took off, he knew there was no way he could convince them to send help over to the other ship, but he knew what he could do. The first thing he did was run to his room, where hsi rabbit was, taking it he dropped off Mark Jr to the science lab so they could baby sit it, claiming that he was busy and had no time to feet it right now, and climbed his way down to the launch bay. His heart had not stopped beating in his ears since the moment he heard that Ethan was probably dead. He slipped into one of the solo pods and within two minutes was off, he turned off the radio signal so that he could not be beamed back onto the ship, and headed for the directions that he knew the enemy ship was. He was wearing a black turtle neck, army boots and black jeans with black gloves so he would be able to blend in properly. The moment he saw the ship his eyes sharpened, seeing the pod that was sent on them, it was still connected to the side of the ship, no doubt empty and bear. He aimed it so that he could settle his pod right ontop of the other one, reaching down he opened the emergency hatch, then opened the emergency one ontop of the pod below him, then silently, with his gun ready he dropped down to the pod, and walked onto the enemy ship. Knowing that there was no going back now, he would save Ethan, and he would make him apologize for not coming back, for not promising him. Though he said that, he was jsut praying to what ever being there was that the other was alive.

As they approached the ship, Ethan had one of those moments. He didn’t believe in the supernatural, or in receiving messages from ghosts and stuff, but somehow, he sensed that they were about to encounter danger. As the alien ship came into view, filling up the window out of which he was gazing at, total and utter dread overcame him. The ship they were approaching was oblong and a dark brown-green. It was entirely dark and when the pilot of the shuttle ran a scan over the ship again, he came up with a negative. It struck Ethan then, as a side bay door opened and the shuttle silently sailed into the gaping mouth of the unknown star craft, that it ought to have crossed one of the scientist’s minds that the alien ship might very well be inhabited. After all, if an alien race had made such a sophisticated looking ship in the first place…wasn’t it also likely that the other race possessed advanced technology, perhaps even more advanced than their own?

But before he could voice these worries, their shuttle had begun its descent. The door that had opened on the side of the ship had revealed a long, rather dark and only illuminated with peculiar gray-green light hangar. It was empty, save for some dark-looking objects that at first glance seemed to be empty crates that had perhaps once contained food or ammunition. “Our scans reveal that there are no life forms here,” the pilot of the shuttle announced as he made the craft bank and then turn around so that it was facing the way they had come. As the boosters set in to slow the shuttle down as it came to rest on the dirty, dust-covered and seemingly derelict hanger, Ethan shook his head, leaning away from the window. “Something feels odd here,” he admitted to Ryan. The guard raised his laser gun, setting the dial to kill. “I know exactly what you mean- I feel it, too,” he whispered back, his eyes narrowing as the pilot cheerfully announced that they had reached their destination. As the crew members got up, placing gas masks over their faces, Ryan pointed at Ethan, signaling for the psychologist to also change the dial of his laser. “Stay close to me-I promised the kid I’d look after you. Keep your eyes peeled.”

Ethan wanted to remain inside the shuttle, but knew it was impossible to. Climbing down the ramp of the shuttle ahead of Ryan. The pilot was last out the shuttle and by then, the biologist, head guard, weapons expert and three further guards had formed a V-shaped formation. Ethan was pushed to the left side by Ryan as he moved to the right. “The atmospheric makeup in here is nitrogen 45,2%, phosphor 33, 71%...” the astro-physician began to rattle off, checking his small red screen as they began to make their way towards the opposite side of the hanger. Raising his own gun uneasily as he glanced around, shuffling forward with the other’s, Ethan’s eyes widened in horror when, after they’d put about thirty meters between themselves and their shuttle, the crates he had imagined to be innate objects suddenly shook and unfurled to show hideous, reptile-like creatures with viciously sharp teeth. Crying out, he tried to alarm the others, yet was too slow in doing so because suddenly, the aliens were everywhere. As screams went up and the startled crew members began to aimlessly shoot around, breaking into panicked runs, Ethan froze into position, only capable of staring in wide-eyed fear as the reptilian beings sped around, moving faster than humanly possible. Beside him, the weapons specialist was ripped in half and suddenly, Ethan’s protective suit was gasped open. “No-!” he tried to yell out as he felt the air that had protected his body wheeze out and then he was being lifted up. Evil, yellow slits that were the eyes of the reptilian being attacking him staring at him as an abusively enormous mouth with razor sharp teeth opened, preparing to bite his arm off. Ethan screamed and a shot that one of the dying guards let off went wide and hit him in the head, blissfully knocking him out.

Someone was calling out Nathaniel’s name. Ethan’s eyes fluttered and he groaned, hissing out in pain when he opened his eyes as his chest began to burn. His mask was still thankfully in place, but the strange atmosphere was reacting with the bleeding gashes against his chest. Coughing out and winced further, Ethan struggled to get up on his elbow. The world spun around crazily for a gut-retching instance, but then he could see again…and couldn’t believe what he was actually seeing: Nathaniel, his sweet, tender, adorable technician, was gashing his teeth into Ryan’s stomach, feeding on the muscular guards entrails. Horrified, the psychologist crawled backwards, his mouth open, but no sound came out. Nathaniel leaned over, really pressing his snout- snout? – into the guard’s bloody stomach and chomping away greedily. Was he going insane?! Nathaniel had mutated into a cannibal? Why was Nathaniel on that ship right then, anyway? Wasn’t he supposed to have stayed on the Praxiteles? The greedy feeding sounds that Nathaniel was making caused Ethan’s stomach to churn and he struggled to his feet. The pain in his chest was almost unbearable and his vision threatened to become black again. More stumbling than running, the psychologist leaned heavily against the wall, trying to get away from the disgusting sight and noises. Finding a side door, he fell right through it and remained on the floor. The toxic atmosphere was poisoning his open wounds and his lungs weren’t breathing the way they ought to. With a last wheeze, Ethan lost consciousness again. Nathaniel…forgive me…

Nathaniel shifted the collar around his neck, it had attatched itself via needles to his neck, and was purifying the air that he was breathing, an invention that he had made up a few months ago but had been to sky to go to anyone about it. Everything seemed to quiet, he was trying to walk silently but his shoes still echo'ed throughout the metal corridors. It smelled bad, metallic and rotten, he didn't even want to imagine where the stench was coming from. After walking for a good 15 minutes, his foot hit something slick and he fell onto his back, reaching up he rubbed the back of his head and groaned, glancing down at what he had slipped on he jumped back, it was a dark red, almost black sticky substance that to him looked like blood. Pulling himself up by the wall, he followed the blood trail with his eyes, seeing it went further down he readied his gun, and one foot after the other began to follow it, eyes trained ahead of him. When he turned the corner his eyes went wide and his mouth slackened, it was a blood bath.

There were corpses litering the room, the mens eyes seemed to be wide with terror. There was a man with only half his body, from his waste up, that seemed to be reaching for a fallen gun when he died. What had these men gone through? With shaky hands, he began to walk through the room, looking for Ethan or Ryan, or at least peices of them. Almost collapsing in relief when he found none, he bent down to check on a body that seemed to be whole, but before he could check for a pulse he heard the sound of what seemed like claws hitting metal, something was coming. He looked around widly for a moment before seeing an empty corridor and shooting off down it, however he when he got to the end he saw that it ended in a wall of computers, causing him to quickly turn and run back, the sound of claws was even closer now. Sucking in his breathe, he knelt down and took the body that was still full and pulled it over himself, then layed face down and held his breathe, faining to be dead. The sound of claws got closer and closer until he knew that whatever the claws belonged to was in the room, he layed silently as he listened to the scratchy voices his out. "I told them not to make a mess, look at this! They didn't even leave many alive, we have one who was almost eaten out, barely alive and another that almost bled to death, if we didn;t find him, he would have. The second one we found seemed to read out as highly intellegent so we will be disecting hims brain, first through questions, and next via ripping his brain out and extracting information that way." Nathaniel almost cried out when he felt something sharp dig into his shoulder and lift him from the ground, allowing his head to roll back, still faining to be dead, it took all his will not to lash out when he heard the creature sniffing at him. "This one is alive too, seems a bit small but we can put him with the other one, together they could harvest a decent amount of meat." Nathaniel paled slightly as he heard the sound of agreement and felt himself dropped uncerimoniously to the ground, clenching his teeth at the impact. Something grabbed hsi ankel and begant to drag him, and by the sound, the man he had used as a cover was also being dragged. In a few minutes he felt himself lifted and strapped down to a table, face up, and only after he heard the snap of a door sliding closed did he dare open hsi eyes. Wincing as bright light filtered in, he glanced around,it looked like a normal medical room, except he saw a table of scary looking sharp instruments.

Then, after looking to his left he gasped loudly, there, strapped down a few tabled to his left was a very pale looking Ethan, and next to him was Ryan. Shifting were he lay, he pulled a small knife he had stuck him his sleeve out and tried to cut at this bindings, but quickly found that the cuffs that were strapping his wrists to the table were very strong. Cursing softly, he used the knife to fish his lazer pointer from his pocket, and quickly used that to saw through the bindings. In a matter of minutes he managed ti cut the last restraint and scramble off of the table, falling off the table he climbed back to his feet and ran over to the other. Reaching down he felt for a pulse, and though it was weak, it was there, sighing in relieve he looked down at Ethan and reached up to rub his eyes that threatened to water in relief. "You should have promised me." He murrmured softly as he reached down to trace the back of his hand across the others cheek, he moved to cut Ethan free but he heard the door click open and dove behind a nearbye table to avoid being seen. Pulling out his lazer gun, he waited until he heard the claws click and scratch on the floor, listening carefully waited, once he thought he had figured out where it was, he put the lazer on high and jumped out.

But hsi eyes went wide when he found he was pointing his gun at nothing. There was a hiss just behind him, eyes wide he went to turn but felt a powerful leg kick him directly in the chest, causing him to fly back, hit a table and topple over it, hitting the ground all the air went out of his lugs.He gasped softly, struggling to breath, then over the edge of the table he saw a claw hook, and he paled, waiting to see the monster peer over the table to, but he let out a gasp when instead of a hidious being he was looking up at himself. Staring up, he was face to face with a white haired, wide-eyed scared looking boy. But a hideous grin covered the others face as a hand shot down and powerfulyl gripped his throat, he desperatly kicked around, trying to free himself as he felt himself lifted from the ground. The copy of himself smiiled coyle up at NAthaniel and spoke, "So, you are most afraid of yourself? That's intersting, you are human right? Such complex pigs you are. Always surprise me." The creatures grip tighened, leaving deafening marks on NAthaniels neck, his vision was blurred and there were black spots in it,however just ebfore he gave in, he glanced over and saw Ethan, hsi Ethan, laying defenslessly on a table, and with the last of hsi strength he kicked up and away from the monster, fallign back he raised his gun and shot, there was a loud shriek and a raptor looking alien fell to the ground, dead. HE let the gun fall from his hand as both hands shot to his neck, gasping softly, but he knew there was no time to just stand here. So he used a table to pulled himself up and quickly walked over to Ethan, cutting him from the table as well, he then moved to Ryan and cut him free as well. Both the boys looked very pale, however seemed to be insure free, the aliens medicine must have been amazing, taking a moment to assess that the two unconcious people were not going to wake up, he turned and began to look for something to shock them up. It only took him aout 10 minutes before he found an object that looked like a pen, walking over he placed it to Ryan's chest and pressed the button.

Causing Ryan to shake up, his eyes went wide as he gasped. Looking around widly, Nathaniel moved forward to try and calm down the clearly hysterical man, but the moment Ryan saw him, he yelled out and tackled NAthaniel back to the ground. Slamming the smaller boys head into the boy twice, causing him to see stars in hsi vision, reaching up he grasped at Ryan, "Stop! Please i'm trying to help! Stop!" He yelled out as he saw Ryan raise a glass ja from a nearby table, prepared to slam it down on NAthaniels already bleeding head. "Nathaniel? No, Nathaniel wouldn't be on this ship, he was back on our ship. Trying to trick me won't do anyt good."

He yelled out again as he brought the jar down, Nathaniel managed to move his head to the side in just enough time to dodge it, a shard of glass cutting deeply through his cheek. "Ryan! Please! I came to save you guys, they said there was an ambush and I came to help! I'm not an alien, you gave me a scarf, a red one. Rememeber? I rememeber, and you promised me, you promised to bring Ethan back to me, so stop attcking me and help me fulfil your promise!" The small boy cried out while trying to stay out of range of Ryan, who after listeneing to Nathaniel stopped, and only after he saw one of the aliens dead bodies on the floor did he believe him. Rushing forward he wrapped his arms around the smaller boy and gently touched the back of his head to see what damage he had done. "It's fine, Ryan, i'm fine, let's just get Ethan and get out of here. He spoke, walking over and pressing the pen to the others chest, reaching forward he gently touched the others face, once again he shocked him until he saw Ethans eyes begin to flutter open, reaching down he held the others hand, he had aready cut the other free.

Ethan woke up eventually, but when his vision went from blurry to clear, he suddenly wished he’d been blessed with blindness or had survived the scuffle that had occurred shortly after having left the shuttle. There was still pain in his chest, but what caused Ethan’s body to shudder in despair and terror was the fact that he was strapped tightly to a medical examination slate. Bright artificial lights were pinned above his head, shining down unblinkingly at him. When he tried to turn his head, the psychologist realized that he couldn’t. When he attempted to at least move a hand, or a foot, he was horrified to realize that that was likewise impossible. It seemed that he had been injected with something that had caused him to become immobile. Some drug must have been administered to him and as he breathed out, expecting more pain, Ethan was surprised to feel nothing. Struggling inwardly, Ethan let out a frightened cry when a scaly hand appeared in his line of vision and he was unable to avoid it. The clawed hand landed on his face and turned him sideway. The psychologist then found himself looking at Ryan who, to him, had died. But Ryan was moving, his face twisted in pain as his body twitched and jerked. One of those vile reptilian creatures was leaning over the tough guard, holding a strange laser-like gadget in his arms. The laser beam was pointing at the guard’s opened belly and it seemed, but Ethan couldn’t and wouldn’t believe it, as if the gadget was recreating the guard’s entrails. The entrails that Ethan himself had seen get devoured by a famished reptilian creature. Was this really possible? Had that attack just been a nightmare? But then, why was he there and cuffed in that way?

“This one is alive,” he heard a voice and judging by the way the hand against his neck moved, it was the speaker. “The Rematerilizator seems to be working perfectly. Once that one has been brought around, we’ll dissect him again to study his muscles. And this one-” He poked Ethan against the cheek and the psychologist coughed out. “- well, can this one speak?” Ethan’s head was pulled around and he found himself staring into the disgustingly long snout of another reptilian being. Ethan wanted to flinch away, to strike out at the being, but no movement was possible. His eyes, however, must have betrayed his thoughts to the creature, because it laughed harshly. “You’re not going anywhere, believe me. Where do you come from? What are you?” Ethan swallowed, but decided it would be best if he answered. “I’m from Planet Earth. And I’m a human.” The reptilian-faced being above him breathed out and Ethan almost hurled: the smell of rotting, decaying meat that washed over his face right then was repulsive. “Never heard of either. Well, either way, we’ll soon learn a lot more about you once we’ve dissected your brain. And now, enjoy your sleep,” he smiled evilly, bringing an enormous injection to Ethan’s neck and pressing it. Ethan’s body jolted and all at once, his vision blurred back and he lost consciousness yet again, thankfully not having any time to ponder these horrific words.

When Ethan next awoke, it was to feel something shaking him violently. Ethan had thankfully never been tasered before, but in those moments before his eyes flew open and he raised his right arm to punch whatever was attacking him, the psychologist got a pretty good feeling what that had to be like. Going from utter darkness to consciousness all at once, Ethan’s green eyes flew open and he brought his right arm up, swinging it in an arch. His consciousness returned in an instant and everything came back to him with astounding clarity- the shuttle, the sneak attack, the promise that he’d be dissected again. Guessing that he was about to murdered, Ethan desperately tried to attack whoever he believed was about to hurt him. Too late he saw Nathaniel’s face and his eyes widened as his fist came within inches of the technician’s face. “Nathan-!” he cried, trying to divert his attack, but just then Ryan’s beefy hand appeared to block the blow. The psychologist breathed out in relief and then he was in Nathaniel’s arms and he was wrapping his arms around the technician, crying without realizing that he was doing so.

“Nathan! Nathan, oh my gosh, what are you doing here!? Tell me I’m not dreaming- please, tell me you’re really here with me!!” he begged, but then he grabbed a hold of Nathaniel’s black jumper and pulling him towards his face, Ethan kissed the young, bleeding technician happily. He had no idea what or even how his technician had made it there, guessed he was still probably dreaming, but all that didn’t matter because Nathaniel was back there with him again. Pulling away only when he ran out of air, the psychologist shook his head, his eyes emotional as they gazed over the technician’s face, his fingers gently probing the face, shoulders and chest of the technician. “Oh Nathan, I thought I’d never see you again,” Ethan admitted, his body shuddering as he threw his arms around his technician again and kissed him once more, hard. “Oh Nathan, what are you even doing here?!”

“I really hate to break your happy reunion up,” Ryan coughed, causing the psychologist to let go of the red-faced technician. The guard held up the strange-looking machine that Ethan had before seen the aliens using on the guard. “But I really think we should get the hell out of here. Nathaniel, I suppose they didn’t just let you beam over here by yourself, did they?” Ethan turned to his savior, his mouth dropping open as Nathaniel quickly explained what he’d done to get there. Nodding his thanks as both his technician and Ryan helped him off the medical examination slab, the psychologist was a bit wobbly at first, but then felt well enough to accept the spare laser gun that Nathaniel had brought along with him. Without needing anyone to say it, Ethan changed the dial to kill and raised it up close to his face, his eyes deadly. “Then I suggest we head back to that ship and get the hell out of here before the Praxiteles gets any closer or decides to leave us for dead. Either way, we can’t stay here a moment longer.”

Ethan had been unconscious when he had been dragged from the scene of the massacre to the medical examination room, so he had no idea where to go. With Nathaniel leading the way and Ryan standing right there beside him, swinging his new toy back and forth, hunched over and preparing for attack, Ethan walked behind them. He wasn’t happy about Nathaniel’s being so close to danger, but he didn’t have any choice; only the technician knew the way back. Turning around every few meters to face the front, the psychologist spent most of his time walking backwards through the eerie, badly lit ship. It was mostly silent, except for the sound of their footsteps in the hall. Ethan’s heart was caught inside his throat and he felt nauseated, as if he needed to run to the bathroom and puke all at the same time. His eyes traveling uneasily back and forth as they came to a corridor that forked, Ethan tightened his grip on his weapon. Just as the trio had made it about ten meters into the new passageway, a shadow hushed past across the tunnel entrance they had just entered. Ethan didn’t think- he squeezed the trigger of the gun and his laser sent off a blast. A hideous shriek was heard and the other two turned around. Just then, three more reptilian-like figures appeared at the back of the corridor they had entered. Ethan fired for all he as worth, taking two down, but the third figure began to run towards them at full speed. “Run- RUN!!” he bellowed for the other two, beginning to sprint backwards as fast as he could, aiming at the approaching enemy.

Nathaniel smiled softly as he gazed down at those familar green eyes, relief flooded him, he only hoped he made it before they could do anything to him. However his relief was short lived when he saw the hand coming up to punch him in the face, he shifted back just as Ryans large hand came in and quickly blocked the punch. Sighing to himself, Nathaniel ran his hand over hsi face, making sure it was all intact still, and relaxing in relief. "I swear, last time I come to save you guys, you want to beat me up more than the aliens." He joked softly before he felt himself pulled into the tightest hug of his life, his eyes widened for a moment before he reached up, and held Ethan, tighter than he had ever held anyone before. The familar feel, the familar smell, all of it made him realize how much he had missed the other. He opened his mouth to explain himself but quickly felt his lips crash against the other, he let out a startled gasp against Ethans lips before reaching up and cupping the psychologists face, kissing him softly and fimrly, pouring in all of those things he had left unsaid into the kiss. His face went bright red as he felt the other basically give him a check over, he raised his arms and put them on Ethans shoulders in an attempt to calm the other, "Ethan ethan, it's alright. I'm fine, really, i'm alright." He assured the other as he motioned to all his working limbs. "I'm fine, in spite of you both trying to kill me," He joked again, smiled at Ethan, despite all that they were going through, the situation, he was here and his Ethan was fine, so everything seemed like it would really be alright.

His eyes fluttered shut as he tilted his head up into the next oncoming kiss, smiling against Ethans lips. He went red from his nose t his toes practicallly when he came aware of the others presence, Ryan was still in the room. He took a step back from Ethan, his cheeks red as he cleared his throat, staring at his feet for a moment, though his hands never released the others hands, holding them tightly. Letting out a low breathe, he began his explination, "I was on the ship when I heard there was an ambush, they were just going to leave you guys to die. I didn't want that, it would have been lonley, I would have been by myself again,"As he spoke he struggled to keep his voice steady, not wanting to start crying right now, "So I blocked ou tthe security and stole a pod, only issues is that because I blocked out the radio signal, we can't be beamed back on the ship. So we have to leave via the pod I brought, and I came tofind you two, but everyone was dead, it was a blood bath out there, everyone but us are dead, everyone. They wanted to turn me and Ryan into food and they wanted to disect Ethans brain since he seemed intellegent. They carried me here and my eyes were closed for most of it but i'm sure I memorized the turns we took, I can get us back to the pod and fly us home." With that, he shifted over and helped Ethan off of the table, holding onto him for longer than necicary, knowing they were not out of the woods yet made him want to just sit here and cling to Ethan.

Nathaniel smiled and nodded as he lead the way, he was ready if anyone attacked them, he had leaded up on weapons, his had hidden knives, weapons, rope, sleep spray, all of it. When he heard the shooting began he jumped, looking back at what ever was happening his eyes went wide. Ethan still didn't look steady enough to run just yet, so he ran back and pushed Ethan hard enough so that he was running instead of shooting at the alien, there was no way he could try and shoot at it. He needed to focus on running, not shooting. Nathaniel glanced over his shoulder and cursed when Ryan dropped his gun, he saw the alien narrow it's eyes and focus on Ryan and leap. Cursing softly again Nathaniel hit the deck, adn the aline ran right back him and stumbled, trying to run back towards Nathaniel who was now far behind. The techie used his time boost to run back, pick up the gun just as the creature slammed into him, knocking him to the ground, a shot went off and it fell, dead to the ground. He layed there for a moment, stunned before climbing back to his feet and catching back up with the others, "Woah kid, you aren't very strong, but you are nimble and quick, more to you than we thought." He grinned back at the breathless techie who quickly took the lead and ran straight into a room. The moment the other two ran in behind him he slammed his hand onto the button to close the door.

Not a minute after that he heard the sound of heavy weight hitting metal. It seemed that the creatures were slamming against the door. Turning around, his eyes went wide as he came face to face with a room that seemed to have a large control system set up, and a large window. His eyes went even wider as he ran forward, "It's a pod! An escape pod!" He cried out, as he looked around the room, there was machines, weapons, energy stabilizers, all of it, set up along the walls along the room. Ideas ran through his head, of things they could create, things they could make, advancements that they could do, all of it was amazing. "Nathaniel!" A women cried out, his eyes went wide as he froze, turning to the door. Through the glass door he could see a women, she had white hair and amber eyes, very fine features and was rather short, in fact, she looked just like a female version of himself, just older. It was his mother, they had managed to scan him when they were running, he knew it wasn't really her, but that didn't make him move.

She was looking at him, her eyes wide with terror as she hit at the glass, "Nathaniel, please! Baby, don't leave mummy here! Open the door!" Before he had to watch anymore he turned, and ran over to the keyboard mainframe, and within 5 minutes, the pod was vibrating, "It has no seat belts so hold on to something guys!" He called out as the count down began. "Please! Baby! Open the door, you want a family right? Your father is here too, please!" Was the last thing the alien could scream at him before it allowed the fake skin to fall and let otu a screech, but it was to late, with w flip of a few switched, they were flying through space, towards there ship, there home.

Ethan “ooph!”-ed out as Nathaniel suddenly appeared beside him and shoved him faster forward. He would have preferred to continue shooting at the advancing reptile-like being, but he guessed that if his quiet technician had found it necessary to return to protect him by taking him out the line of fire, then because Ethan wasn’t well enough to defend them. So turning around and running, Ethan tried to catch up with Ryan. When the guard fell, he stopped as well, making to try and help, but Ryan waved for him to continue. Turning around, his green eyes desperately scanning for a way to escape this nightmare, Ethan cursed when an alarm began to shrill through the ship, probably alerting all the reptilian beings on the ship to their escape. Glancing over his shoulder, Ethan very nearly fainted when he saw Nathaniel’s extremely brave, but also endlessly reckless stunt. “NATHANIEL!!!” he bellowed, his heart refusing to beat until his young technician carefully crawled out from beneath the dead body of their pursuer, seemingly unharmed. Letting out his breath, Ethan caught sight of a door he had missed before and pointed towards it. “In here!” he waved, activating it and stumbling through, turned to cover his two friends as they ran into the room. More and more of the reptilian beings were running towards them, their disgusting claws clicking against the floor and making Ethan shudder. Opening fire with his teeth bared as Nathaniel ducked through the door, the psychologist managed to take three out.As soon as Ryan had passed through, Ethan slapped the door closed and locked it.

Turning on Nathaniel, Ethan flicked his fingers indignantly against Nathaniel’s forehead. “You moron! Don’t do something so dangerous again- do you want to kill me?!” he demanded angrily, but then pulled Nathaniel into him for a fierce kiss. “Honestly, what’s the point of coming to rescue me if you’re going to kill yourself while doing so? Honestly,” he shook his head, jumping slightly when he heard more of their pursuers hurling themselves at the door to the room he had forced the three of them into. Raising his gun at the door as Ryan returned to his side, his weapon likewise raised, prepared to shoot if the creatures managed to open the door. “Shoot first, ask questions later,” the trained guard growled at Ethan and the psychologist nodded. Pumped full with adrenaline as he was right then, Ethan felt pretty confident that he could take on an army if necessary. “Don’t take your eyes off the door, okay? Hey kid, what are you doing?” Ryan asked, elbowing Ethan unkindly when the psychologist tried to look for his technician. “The door!” he hissed and Ethan turned red, raising his gun up higher as more and more vicious blows sounded against the door. Shrieks and clawing sounds reached his ears. The reptilian beings were angry, no doubt about it.

Hearing Nathaniel cry out that they actually seemed safe, that they had actually had luck and found the entrance to an escape pod, Ethan allowed himself to relax for an instant. But just then, the metallic door he and the other two had disappeared behind to find safety shimmered and changed, becoming see though. As the dreaded reptilian beings came back into view again, Ethan reacted on an impulse and fired angrily, as did Ryan, but when instead of jumped back or falling down dead the beings simply continued to hurl themselves at the door, Ethan realized what had happened. “Cease your fire, cease your fire!!” he shouted at the guard, hitting his arm. “Don’t you see?! It’s only plasma glass! We’re still safe!” But no sooner had he said that than suddenly the being standing right in front of the door transformed in front of Ethan’s eyes. Out of the deformed, reptile-like, bulky being with a tail became a fine, pretty young woman who resembled Nathaniel. Eyes widening when it opened its mouth to speak, but no words came out, the psychologist glanced over his shoulder at his technician, understanding that Nathaniel was hearing something. “Nathan? Nathan, don’t listen- it’s a trick!” he warned, running backwards to hold onto his technician before he could do anything to harm himself. The imitation began to beg more piteously, banging her hands against the glass, but Ethan embraced Nathaniel, his voice compassionate. “Don’t listen, Nathan- it’s not her. It’s not- it can’t be…your mother,” he whispered quietly.

But the technician seemed to have reached the same conclusion, because he tore himself away from the psychologist and running to the control board, began punching in some things and turning dials. Turning back to glare hatefully at the alien beings, Ethan only dropped his guard when the pod shuddered free from the alien ship and began to fly outwards into space at an alarming speed. Knocked off his feet, Ethan fell onto his bottom, coming to rest beside Nathaniel and causing the technician to lose his footing as well. As Ryan swore, knocking his head against a side cupboard containing mean-looking grenades, Ethan embraced his technician lovingly. “Nathan, I’m so sorry you had to see that. I’m so, so sorry,” he whispered, closing his eyes as he dipped his head to kiss the technician’s wet eyelids, then nose, cheeks and finally lips. The kisses were at first comforting, but when he felt Nathaniel’s arms around him, Ethan parted his lips and the kiss took on a needy, rushed, passionate edge. Nathaniel, little Nathaniel- his Nathaniel, had come all the way out from the safety of the Praxiteles to rescue him. If ever there had been any doubts that Nathaniel didn’t care for him in the way he did, those doubts were now gone. “Nathan…I love you,” he heard himself finally confessing his love as the unknown alien escape pod continued to hurl through space at a break-neck speed. “You were amazing- I can’t believe you came after me. You-”

But before he could continue praising the technician in his arms, something hard hit the side of the pod, sending it slightly off course and knocking Ethan and Nathaniel to the side. Ryan, who had just struggled onto his feet, swore badly as he tilted sideways, thrown against the back wall again. “Damn it! What the hell does the Praxiteles think it’s doing!? Why the hell are they shooting at us!?” he demanded, infuriated. Ethan struggled to his feet, helping Nathaniel up as well. His face paled when he saw that the Praxiteles had indeed come into view…and they into range f the powerful plasma canons. “Isn’t it obvious? They believe we’re the enemy. Nathan,” he cried, looking at the technician. “Can you manage to get a message through to them? If they aren’t warned, we’ll be shot down!” he gulped, instinctively ducking as their pod was once again struck and a red light began to flash warningly.

Nathaniel allowed his eyes to close when he felt those familar lips press all over his heated face, they were safe, they were going to live. He could go home, climb in bed with Ethan and his bunny and just rest, something that he wanted to do so badly, he was worn out, bleeding, and just wanted comfort. Seeing his mother standing there also shook him to his core, the last time he saw her, her body had been trapped under a hunk of metal for days. He rememebered it all, the cold, rigidness of her hand, the stench it started to give off after the first day, all of it, and to see her standing there, crying out for him. He shiverd lightly at the idea as he just held the othe closer, pulling him in and kissing him feircly, he knew that all he had gone through was worth it. His lips parted into a smile when he heard the praises fall from Ethans mouth, moving to hug him tighter but before he could he was ripped from the others grip as they both were sent toppling over in the pod. Using Ethan as a support he climbed up, he ran to the control panel and immidiiatly began to take the manual controls ove, he weaved back and fourth, murmuring his sorrys as he heard his companions toppling around in the back of the pod. However he heard Ryan cry out as he hit the wall especially hard and he turned to make sure he was okay, but just as he did, one of the shots from the large ship rang out, Nathaniel looked over again and his eyes went wide as the pod was hit with full force. Causing him to fly back, and Ryan did as well, falling against him and crushing the smaller boy against the wall, gasping loudly he fell to the ground when the pod readjusted itself. Ryan reached down to help him up but the moment he touched Nathaniels hand the techie cried out, after trying to move it, they both deduced that it was clearly either broken, or severly sprained. The pod rocketed to the side again as it wsa hit once again, he looked over at Ethan and yelled over the noise, "Ethan! I need you to take over the controls, avoid the lazers, there is a code, input 'INBOUND IE 13167 ESCAPE POD FRIENDLIES', you need to type that into the mainframe, using that keyboard. Then type in your name, mine and Ryans, then in that scanner up there let it scan your thumb print, it will prick a bit but you will be fine." He yelled as Ryan helped Nathaniel to sit back against the wall, both watched Ethan closely, all of there lives were now riding on the other. He waited until Ethan had gone it, and then called out as the shooting slowly stopped, "Now aim right for the deck'ing area, the pod will attatch itself, just glide in smoothly." His voice was softer now that he didn't have to yell, as he spoke he made sure that his tone was calming and assuring, like a teacher that was trying to walk a student through a problem. The moment the the ship had docked itself, the door flung open and the three of them were met by a large group of people that all had there guns raised. When they saw who was actually inside, they all went quiet, slowly, in the distance, there was someone clapping, then someone else joined, and before they knew it, the entire crowed was cheering for the boys return.

When Nathaniel began yelling out commands to him, Ethan’s first impulse was to yell back that he could forget it, that he might very well have been a scientist, but that he certainly wasn’t a technician and never would be. When he turned to stare down at the control panels and saw the numerous dials, switches and wheels, it all swam into one large black mess that didn’t make any sense to him. The psychologist once again felt the familiar wave of panic and began to shake his head- no, this was too much, he couldn’t do this, this wasn’t his thing. But with Nathaniel calmly repeating everything he was saying, Ethan eventually felt a tiny bit of hope begin to grow inside him and clinging onto that for his life, he pulled, tugged and wore it out as he tried his best to follow Nathaniel’s instructions. Still, the docking was rather rocky and when they land, Ethan winced at the sound of grinding metal against metal. Nathaniel would have landed without such a background noise, but he’d made it- somehow, he’d made it. Hitting the button beside him to open the pod escape door as his strength left him, Ethan sank onto his knees, his expression blank. He didn’t hear the applause behind him, didn’t register as Nathaniel was hauled out the pod and immediately rushed to the medical bay to tend to his several injuries and Ryan was heaved out and long and loudly cheered. When the Captain and Bradley helped him onto his feet, former shaking his hand and loudly congratulating him for his heroic, selfless deed in the face of such uncertainty, Ethan finally shook his head. “No…not me…it was Nathaniel. Only Nathaniel- he saved us, he’s the one who deserves all the praise,” he stated clear…and then everything became too much and leaning over, he threw up all over the Captain’s polished black boots.

"Nathaniel? The techie? He wasn't evne supposed to be there in the first place, are you-"The captain began but was cut off when he watched the man vomit all over his prestine boots. He reeled back in surprise, and kicked his shoes to the side to try and dispell some of the vomit on them, ordering his guards to take the psychologist to the medical bay immediatly. They quickly came in and hauled him down to the medical area, where they discovered his pulse was rapid, he was over whelmed and due to his quick heart rate, they decided it was best to give him a sedative to calm him down. Once they had laid him down to rest, they went to Nathaniel and Ryan, and began to question them about the events, to which both gave vivid detail. Ryan was like a proud father, speaking over the heroic deeds of not only the white haired boy, but of Ethan as well. "They are great kids, both faced that danger head on. Ethan had to dock the ship, and Nathaniel came all the way out there, by himself, despite the trouble he would get into, and saved us. I owe them my life, both of them." He grinned at the captain as he finished his recollection, when he went in to talk to Nathaniel, the white haired boy was quiet. "So, I hear you had yourself quite the adventure?" He raised an eye brow before walking over and sitting beside the bed that the boy was sitting up in. "You managed to sprain that wrist pretty bad, but hey, that's what happens whena big brute crushed you eh?" He let out a hearty laugh when he was met only with silence from Nathaniel, reaching up he sighed and spoke, "I couldn't go. I sent those men to there deaths, I should have been there when it all went down, maybe I could have protected some of them. Even after I found otu what happened, I wasn't willing to send anyone in for any possible survivors. But you, a small kid, did what not even the captain of this magnificant vessal could. We all owe you a great deal, I apologize for treating you like a child. I knew your mother," He continued, and to this Nathaniel brightened a bit, paying mroe attention, "You look just like her you know, she was a bit more outgoing than you are, but you both have kind hearts. She would be proud." At that Nathaniel let a soft smile spread over his face as he nodded to the captain. The captain gave the techie a knowing look as he stood to leave, "You know we had to sedate the psychologist eariler, he was a bit anxious, he is currently asleep in room B-12, and the nurses are on there break, so if someone wanted to, they could probably sneak in." With that he turned and left, leaving a wide eyed white haired techie. After a few moments, he quickly climbed out of bed, and even though he had grown up so much in such a short time, he still forgot to grab any shoes. The bare footed boy quickly snuck up to the science bay, and took his rabbit from the holding cage. Caring it carefully, he walked back down until he came to stand outside of Ethans room, holding it securly in one hand, he reached out with his other one and pushed the door open. Walking in, he saw a familar lump on the bed that must have been Ethan, he closed the door behind him and quietly walked over to the bed, were he stood, looking down face to face at the sleeping psychologist, at his sleeping psychologist. "You know,"He whispered as he allowed the bunny to jump onto the bed, reaching up he lightly trailed a hand over Ethans cheek as he spoke, "I never got the chance to say it back." Reaching up, he quickly climbed into Ethans bad, and shifted so that he could silently pull the covers over himself. Laying his head on the pillow beside the others, he tilted his head up and brought his lips less than an inch away from Ethans, "I love you too, Ethan." The words seemed to lift a heavy weight that had been resting on his shoulders, he moved his head the rest of the way and pressed hsi lips to the others, oh so soft and familar ones, before relaxing against him and allowing his eyes to drift shut, worn out and relaxed, he fell asleep.

aw, that was really sweet. Thanks foxy3

Ethan really hadn’t intended on puking all over the Captain, but then again he mused as he was hauled over to the medical bay – really, this was sure becoming a bad habit of his; he was beginning to visit the sick bay more often than his patients, he was obviously doing something wrong – his having puked over the Captain’s boots had been the best form of criticism possible. Because what the man had done had, to be honest, revolting and puke-worthy: he’d watched without blinking an eye as he’d sent a team of good men into a trap and hadn’t even planned a backup plan to retrieve them. If it hadn’t been for Ethan, then he and Ryan would certainly be dead by then…or in the middle of being dissected. The psychologist’s body revolted again at this thought and he was shot with a tranquilization injection. Gritting his teeth together – for heaven’s sake, he’d just got over his tranquilizer addiction and these bastards were once again pumping his body full with the blasted medication – Ethan flopped sideways and then closed his eyes. Someone covered him up and he sighed out, nestling against the soft blanket and pillow. He was exhausted- he hadn’t even realized it himself just how tired he actually was. Before a nurse even returned with some supper, Ethan was fast asleep.

Waking up the next day, Ethan became witness to one of the most beautiful sights his green eyes had until then yet to see: the sight of a sleeping Nathaniel, curled up beside him in a tight little ball, a soft, sweet smile on his lips. And there, having nestled itself right between him and Nathaniel, there was the little bunny rabbit that Ethan had had cloned for his technician. Ethan’s heart expanded at the sight and smiled softly himself. Not wanting to disturb either the technician nor the rabbit, he raised his arm and, activating his computer watch, snapped a photo of the sleeping couple. He’d definitely use them as his screensaver back inside his cabin. It was then that Ethan recalled how, in those moments before all hell had broken loose again and he’d believed that he and Nathaniel had been in relative safety again, he had confessed his true emotions to Nathaniel. And the fact also returned to the front of his mind that the technician…hadn’t responded or returned them. But then again, Ethan was beginning to believe that actions spoke louder than words and in Nathaniel’s case, that saying certainly had a lot going for him. Reaching over to caress a shock of white hair out his technician’s sleeping face, Ethan chuckled tenderly. Maybe it would take Nathaniel a while to say the words, but he could say them and would. Leaning in closer to peck the technician’s lips, the psychologist nuzzled his nose against the younger man’s one. “I love you Nathan. And next time…I promise that I promise I’ll return to you safely, no matter what.”

The door to the room slammed open, and once again, a worried Traci busted in, when she saw the two males cuddled up together, she flicked on the lights to make sure her eyes were not decieving her, and sure enough, there was that murdering little white haired boy, who had entangled his arms in the others and was nuzzled up against him, and a small rabbit lay between them, however at the sound of the door opening it had woke up, so it peered at the intruder wide-eyed and shaking a bit. "Ethan!" She yelled out, causing the young white haired boy to stir, and even though he had grown up a bit, he was stil lclearly not a morning person. He shifted slightly, seeing the shaking bunny beside him he reached up to pull it closer to him, hushing it quietly so it would calm down. Then he shot the girl a rather annoyed look before murmuring out, "You know, you are a very loud individual, to an unnecessary extent, and you have a habbit of walking into a room of sleeping people, and not simmering down your presence at all." With that he reached down and pulls the covers over his head, bringing the bunny under with him, and leavering her to stare, surprised at the mound of blankets.

Ethan spluttered out with laughter, but seeing Tracy’s face, he unsuccessfully tried to cover it with a cough. Tracy shot him a murderous glare and the psychologist became uncomfortable. “Trace, let’s go outside so we can let Nathaniel sleep,” he suggested before another cold war broke out between the two of them. Swinging his legs over the bed, Ethan slipped a hand beneath the blankets to squeeze Nathaniel’s hand, reassuring the technician that he would soon return and that there was nothing to worry about. Slipping his feet into the sneakers that the medical personnel had laid out for him, Ethan wrapped a dark blue towel coat around himself and followed his friend out. No sooner had the door closed behind her than Tracy turned on him, her eyes betraying her hurt. “Ethan, what the hell? What are you doing in bed with that murderer!? He’s a guy and everyone’ starting to believe that the two of you are a couple- what is the meaning of this?” she cried out explosively. Ethan frowned at her. “Tracy, Nathaniel isn’t a murderer- if anything, he saved my life: if it hadn’t been for him, I probably wouldn’t be standing here with you right now. And secondly, so what if people start to believe that? I care about a Nathaniel a lot- what’s wrong with that?” Tracy’s nostrils flared as her chest heaved. “What’s wrong with that? I’ll tell you what’s wrong with that! That white-headed FREAK is a man, just like you are! And right now, we’re headed towards Phoenix Nebula to make sure that humanity and the human race survives- how is that supposed to work with two men!?!” she screamed at him lividly, tears coming to her eyes as she shakily took a breath in. “I thought you and I were on the best way to getting back together again, Ethan,” she admitted quietly.

Nathaniels face saddened beneath the covers when he heard the other offer to talk to the girl outside, they didn't need any private time, anything he needed to say to her, could be said in front of Ethan, right? He watched the small bunny sniff at his face, it's nose wiggled as it did so, only when felt the others hand wrap into his did he allow a smile to cross his face, however he wondered what would happen if he tried to hold Ethans hand in front of her, so she could see, would the psychiatrist pull away? What was Nathaniel to Ethan, he wondered, was he a boyfriend, a good friend, maybe a friend with benifits? At the last thought the last soft kiss the two had shared flashed through his mind, causing him to burry deep into the covers, holding the small animal to his chest gently. He was brought back to reality when he heard the door close, popping his head from the covers he looked around to see the room empty, and quietly as he could, stepped out of the bed and padded across the floor to do the door, where he pressed his ear against to listen. The last sentance that he heard the girl speak caused him to loose it, he swung the door open wide eyed and looking upset as he stomped into the hall to stand in front of Ethan. With his hands clenched a bit, he glared at the girl who also looked upset, she had to loose down a bit because of how short the latter was. "I'm not a freak, i'm a human, at least I have the common courtesy not to talk poorly about someone that is in the next room, and not to yell as someone who is right beside you. What if I am Ethans boyfriend?" As he spoke this he regretted it, he didn't know if he was Ethans boyfriend or not, and the words just flew from his mouth quickly. "I don't think he wants to get back together with you!" He muttered out finally before turning, avoiding Ethans gaze, he was afraid to see any look the other might have. Before he could walk back into the room though Traci reached forward and took Nathaniel by the shoulder and pushed him back so he stumbled into the room, dashing in behind him she shut the door in Ethans face and locked it quickly behind her. Nathaniel climbed up from where he had stumbled, if she wasn't a thin framed girl he would have been scared, but at this point he was just a bit frightening. He looked to the door, waiting for Ethan to burst in, not realizing it was locked. "Look here, I have dated Ethan before, and we had something very special, he was my first love and I was his. You don't see it but I do, he looks at me like I am something special, and he looks at you like you are a cute pet or something, that is it. I will date him after he get's over this man phase he is in, he gets confused, and he will tire of his pet, so please save us all the trouble and go bark up someone else's tree little doggie."With that she turned around, puffed out her chest so that her breats looked larger than they were, and stopped out of the room, and down the hall, making sure to brush against Ethan as she did. Leaving a wide eyed white haired boy, a few moments ago before she barged in everything was fine, but now he looked like broken child. His eyes were lowered to the ground, all around he looked deflated, the happy glow he had was gone.

Ethan tried to open the door, fearing for Nathaniel. “Trace? Tracy? Tracy!!” he yelled when he realized that the door was locked. Yanking and trying to pull the handle up and down, but when that understandably didn’t help, Ethan kicked the door angrily, aggressively beginning to slam his hands against the door. He had no idea what Tracy was telling Nathaniel, but whatever it wasn’t it probably wasn’t good. “Nathan! Nathan, don’t listen to her-DON’T LISTEN TO HER!!!” he bellowed, beginning to throw himself against the door. He knew how sensitive Nathaniel was- despite everything that had happened between them, it was likely his technician would start to have doubts. Running back and bracing himself for his next attack against the door, Ethan stopped short when it opened and Tracy stalked out, tossing her head victoriously. Ethan skidded to a stop. “Tra…?” his voice trailed off, his eyes momentarily distracted by her breasts- had they grown larger? Shaking his head to clear his thoughts, Ethan ran into his medical room, but was once again halted when he saw the expression on Nathaniel’s face.

“Oh no. No, no, NO. No, forget it,” he snapped. Lunging forward, he took a firm hold of Nathaniel’s hand and yanking him to his feet, he dragged the technician out the door, hugging the trembling bunny rabbit to his heart. When his technician stumbled, Ethan glanced down and noticed for the first time that Nathaniel wasn’t wearing any shoes. “Nathan, seriously- you’re going to get yourself sick,” the psychologist complained, leaving Nathaniel standing where he was, but with the rabbit now transferred to his arms. Kneeling down to look under the bed, Ethan pulled out the smaller pair of shoes he had been given. Returning to the shivering technician, Ethan picked up each of Nathaniel’s feet and slipping the shoes on, grabbed the technician’s hand again. “I’m going to clear this up once and for all,” he gritted under his teeth. Holding onto Nathaniel’s hand tighter as he entered medical observation room where Tracy had fled to. She turned around, surprised and Ethan yanked Nathaniel closer, wrapping an arm around the technician. “Tracy, I love you, I really do. You were my first special person and I’ll never forget you. But our time together is over. I love Nathaniel. He’s my boyfriend and I only want him. I want you to stop calling him a murderer and a freak- he’s the man who saved my life and I’m indebted to him. I don’t want the two of you to keep on fighting this way- Tracy, you have to stop, because you’re hurting Nathan and by doing that, you’re hurting me. Nathan belongs to me,” he stated clear, looking at his technician lovingly and then noticing the long-eared fluffy creature in his technician’s hands. “Nathan…and the bunny…belong to me,” he stated clearly, turning a little pink- okay, the last part had been a little…superfluous, maybe.

Nathaniel could hear his heart in his ears as the girls walked out, glancing up he didn't miss where Ethans eyes went to when she stormed by, making his stomach plummet even further. He jumped slightly at the others sudden, brashful movements, letting out a sound of protest as he felt himself hauled up to his feet, his bare feet echoing on the floor as they rushed out. Ethan could have lived with Nathaniel’s laughing at him after such an emotional confrontation and confession, but really, that comment about the bunny rabbit had been much of a muchness. But still, despite his pink cheeks, he continued to hold his head up high, meeting Tracy’s horrified expression head on. Having Ryan then offer to be the first witness to confirm his and Nathaniel’s relationship helped too, because Ethan was pretty sure that his ex wouldn’t believe it immediately otherwise. So when he saw the defeat in her eyes shortly before she turned her back on him and Nathaniel to lean over a microscope to continue studying the blood sample she’d been examining, the psychologist knew the two of them were about to go through an icy period of silence, but he was glad that he’d set the record straight. Turning around to smile at Ryan, he hugged Nathaniel and the bunny closer to his side. “Thanks, Ryan.” He blinked when the guard’s face came too close to his and he felt a sharp stab against the chest. “But I’m warning you: I’ve taken a liking in Nathaniel, as has my wife. If you ever treat little Nathaniel badly, you’ll have both me and my wife coming after you,” the guard warned, but after a further poke, he leaned back and winked at the technician.

Ethan coughed, seeing that several of the other training nurses had begun to whisper amongst themselves. “Come on, Nathan,” he said quietly, gently turning his boyfriend – yes, because that was what he and Nathaniel now were, right? Boyfriend and boyfriend. Ethan couldn’t help but smile widely at this thought – around and heading out the laboratory. He was a little dizzy from so much sudden exercise, so he wanted to lie down for a while. Once the door to the laboratory had closed, he bit his lower lip, his gaze still concentrated on the way ahead. “I hope what I just said…I hope I was talking in both our favors,” he said quietly, not quite trusting himself to look at Nathaniel. “I really do love you, Nathan. You’re the most important person to me and I…I don’t want there to be any doubts between us. And I don’t want people like Tracy to make you feel insecure or make you doubt in me, okay?” Hobbling into his medical room, he lay down onto his bed with a sigh of relief. Closing his eyes, he groaned when his wrist computer began to shrill. “Damn it- can’t I be left alone for a while?” he grumbled, accepting the call. “Burke?” “Dr. Burke? Here’s the Captain speaking. Could you and Nathaniel Powell please come up to the bridge for a minute?”
