In this world, there is more than our simple planet, there is more to life than meets the eye, if only you can see it or even accept it.

The earth is nearly destroyed in a nuclear war, there are only a few safe places left and those places are enclosed, the outskirts left for the poor people the inner town reserved for the rich. YC: a person of poorer background who lost his family during the war leaves the boundaries of the town into the areas contaminated by nuclear radiation...effectively walks into deaths arms!! a girl ((MC)) appears, she is the watcher of this land ie. earth...she isn't human.....and we go from there!!!! or just before MC turns up!!

for anyone reading this i have to make a warning, this is not yaoi, it is strait and i genuinely have no idea where it is going! To be quite frank it could go absolutely anywhere! and i would state where it is gooing to be 18+ but again, i genuinely don't know!

Age: 17

Race: Unknown

Haruo could see the strange white light that appeared just a few metres in front of him. But he instantly dismissed it as another hallucination. It was hopeless. Was this to be his final resting place? In the middle of nowhere, where he would never be found. Forever forgotten. It was a stupid idea in the first place, leaving the only safe place there was. But what choice did he have? The few survivors left had started to lose their sanity. Maybe it was the radiation? Maybe it was the fact that they had started to fight over the few remaining supplies? But none of that mattered any more. He decided that he'd rather die here than at the hands of someone he used to call family. He'd rather die here, alone, where it was safe. Where nobody could find him. The white light in front of him glowed even brighter. "Have I already died?" he thought, before passing out.

Seraphina wandered the deserted and destroyed forest, she steeped gingerly across the dead flowers and grasses and around the dying trees. This was such a pointless life, her job was too protect this land, this world's, this humanity and yet after all the chances she had given them, they had still thrown their lives away, foresaking it for the promise of war and havoc. They always were such disaster ridden creatures humans. For some reason they were driven by the need to cause death and deprivation wherever they go no matter how hard she tried to stop it. It was a futile life this one, trying to live for the sake of protecting these beasts, doing her job and protecting their livelihood until such a time as the land became uninhabitable and its inhabitants greed ridden and lost. That time had come. She was leaving.

Turning away from the ancient forestshe moved her gaze to the poisoned lake, acrooss the vast mountains beyond. It was a shame to lose such a varied habitat but there was no helping it. Turning away from the water she pushed her lavander coloured hair behind her ear, playing with the silver eating that hung there. A brightness began to surround her, ready to engulf her and return her to the mother land where she would be assigned a new land and this one remarked as lost.

But something caught her attention and she stopped letting her hand fall back down to her side she looked at the floor where a young man lay. Dying. Walking slowly over she knelt down beside him and pressed two fingers to his kneck, checking his pulse. He could be saved. But would she? Why bother? She was leaving now, there was no point wasting her energy on this man. But something held her gaze, stopped her hand. Piqued her interest. Placing her hand upon the mans forehead she lowered her face and whispered a low incantation. A spiral of silver wrapped itself around the mans body, invading it and wrapping around his lungs and heart for a few seconds before it dissappated into his blood stream. The radiation would no longer harm him.

Sitting back she quietly said "you know this place is bad for you? Why are you out here?" Her voice was soft and musical but held a deadly undertone that crackled slightly in a soft burning heat that threatened to explode in a cascade of fire and sparks.

Haruo suddenly felt a surge of energy rush through him. He had just decided to give up, and allow death to claim him. But he suddenly felt a power growing within him, allowing him to pull himself up to his knees. He suddenly noticed the figure that crouched in front of him. She was unlike anything he had noticed before, with her long lavender coloured hair and rose coloured eyes. He bought his attention to her clothes, and noticed that she was wearing long white robes with golden trim. But why hadn't they been tainted by the filthy air? Haruo suddenly realised that he was able to breathe normally, despite being in the middle of a wasteland. The girl asked "you know this place is bad for you? Why are you out here?". Haruo didn't understand. He had accepted death, and now he felt a strange power flowing within him. Was it this strange girl that did this to him? "Who are you?" he asked. "What have you done to me?"

Seraphina sighed, this was a little out of the ordinary, she had never shown herself to a human before and she wouldn't have now if he hasn't dseen her first or she had just left as she intended. She looked up at the sky that was tainted a crimson colour from the nuclear waste, a crimson filled with purple and pink hues that shifted and moved like the northern light. If you could still see them. Looking back at the man she said, deciding no one would believe him even if he did talk, "I am a watcher. I am duty bound to project these lands without interfering unduely. As to what I did to you...I saved you, inside your blood now is a fire called Shikaro, a fire that acts as a metal until it comes in contact with blood. It will prevent the radiation from affecting you. Now do you feel like answering my questions?" She stated bluntly but not unkindly.

Haruo didn't get it. She wanted her questions answered? What about his questions? Sixty seconds ago he was staring death in the face. Now he was being told by a strange girl that he had been imbued with a magical sounding power he hadn't even heard of. And what did she say she was? A watcher? This all seemed to normal to her. What questions did she possibly want to ask him? "Why should I answer your questions?" Haruo said with a touch of malice in his voice. He normally didn't like speaking in that tone, but this was far from normal. "I think you should answer my questions first. Who are you and what have you done to my body?" he asked again. Of course, there were many more questions he wanted to ask, such as "Where did you come from?" and "Why are you dressed like that?". But his mind was racing too fast. Was this strange girl his friend or his enemy? Realising that she could be dangerous, he shuffled back a few steps, still kneeling on the floor.

She frowned not liking to repeat herself, her voice took on a more fiery edge, an edge that seemed to crackle every so often with harsh music, the previously gently tone of smouldering embers now became a live for ready to explode and become an inferno if given the chance. "I just told you, I am a watcher, I watch this world, this land, these people and, I watch you. It is my job so stop bashing away from me, I am not allowed to interfere with what human now as life and death, I can not influence in nearly portage it into a certain direction. As for your body, I broke the rule, I saved you directly and risked myself so try and be a little grateful! AND WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY CLOTHES!!"

This was all too strange to Haruo. "If you're a watcher of these lands, then why were you reluctant to save me?" he said. He suddenly noticed that the strange girl had made a remark to him about her clothes. But he didn't say that out loud. "Is it that she can read my thoughts?" he asked himself. "Can she hear what I'm thinking right now?". It was far too confusing. Maybe he should have stayed in the town and died there, where he would be free from all this confusion.

"Why was I reluctant to save you? I thought i made that clear, I can't interfere with the life and death, you chose to die, I should let that happen, but I didnt, I broke the rule and saved you. Something I should never do." she sighed, maybe this wasn't such a good idea, by now if she had just gone back too the motherland she would already have a new assignment and be about to head there and yet here she was still talking to some dim wit that for some reason she could not understand she had decided to save. Why?

"Mind read!!??" She laughed good naturedly, her voice returning to its smoldering music. "What do you think I am? I'm a watcher not a fortune teller!" She laughed again. Really these humans were so simple sometimes. "You humans might as well be a book open at the key page you are so easy to read. Everything you think is written over your face just begging me to pry into! Its not like I have a choice but to see it. If you Dont want me to then you should learn to guard yourself better."

She sat down on the damp remains of the earth, the earth that now held deep scars on its surface that would never heal. The lay, oozing and crumbling like the pages of a burnt book. And yet however much she wished to heal or she could not return the land to its previous glory, such a feat was not possible.

Haruo sat up, still maintaining a safe distance from the strange woman. He decided to try and pry more information out of her to make more sense of the situation. "So you weren't meant to save me, but you went ahead and did it anyway. Now what? I doubt it makes that big a deal." Haruo said, daring to speak the last sentence with a little laugh.

Seraphina sighed, she hadn't been planning on giving much away but there wasn't much point not now, she had saved this man and that was the end of that. He had a right to know what that meant for him after all. "unfortunately it is a big deal, the whole point of my job is i never physically interact with people or make any move to save or hurt someone. Its the main rule we live by and to be perfectly honest i have no idea what will happen, no one has ever broken the rule before. But whatever it is, it will be bad!"

She looked down at her feet, her eye catching on a small seed that lay there, withered and without life. Hovering her hand over it she focused her energy into the seed, giving power and energy into the seedling which slowly began to grow into a glowing sprout before it grew leaves and a budded into a fiery flower that flickered and licked at the air around it, the flames closest t its centre glowing a bright white, yellow while the outer petals burned a deep red. Removing her hand she smiled gently as she stared into the flower, mesmerised by the flames.

Haruo was startled when the girl set the flower alight. His first instinct was to run, realising that this girl was definitely not a human. But he found himself unable to move, instead holding his gaze on the burning flower, amazed by how beautiful it burnt in the middle of a barren field. He had many more questions to ask, but he didn't know which ones to start with. "If you're not meant to save people, then why didn't you just leave me behind?" he said, this time with a calmer tone, more eager to find out about the situation the girl had dragged herself into. "Where were you heading to anyway?"

Seraphina looked up startled from her day dreams "huh? sorry, i wasn't listening..." she thought for a moment searching her memory for what the other had said "ohh right, why?..i wonder.." she spoke thoughtfully questioning it herself. She really didn't know what she had stopped or what had made her turn around, she could have just left, she should have just left. But it was too late for that now.

Looking back at the man she ignored his questions "so what is your name?" She asked wanting to know who exactly she had sacrificed her lively hood for. After all she doubted there was any way she could return to being just a standard watcher. Something had changed, in her status, rank and in herself. Something had awoken that had the potential to rebel against everything that she had held morally close previously. Her values had shattered in the moment she chose to save him and not she was left.

"My name? It's Haruo." he said. "What about yours?". He waited a few moments, but didn't get a reply. "Hey, are you okay?" he asked, moving closer and waving his hand in front of her face. She seemed to be spacing out. Haruo thought she also acted strange a few seconds ago. "Has she remembered something important?" he thought to himself.

Seraphina looked up and shook herself again from her daze. "ohh sorry Harou." She said, making a point of the fact that she had heard. She inspected the man now inches from her and pushed him back slightly "personal space please! You might get burnt after all." She winked along with her threat leaving it open for him to imply from. "Anyway my name is Seraphina. Dont you dare pronounce it wrong or you might become a pile of ash!" It was an empty threat, she wasnt going to kill the man after saving him but even so she hated people getting it wrong. Looking back at the flower she quietly said "so why are you out here, you know you will die." Her voice was sad and soft, the flower imitating her emotions as it wavered, losing its colour, dimming slightly, nearly burning out but just staying lit. She didnt like talking abut death, she saw to much of it happen and far too little births. Far too little joy.

"Seh-ra-fee-na" Harou said, hoping he had gotten it right. "And why are you caring about me?" he questioned. "You seemed pretty reluctant about it earlier" he continued. "I had, no, I have nothing to live for" he said, his head tilting towards the ground and his tone lowering a bit. "My family are dead. Everyone else I cared about have gone, they've lost their sanity thanks to the radiation. I had to escape, I didn't care where I was as long as I was away from there". He looked up again at Seraphina to see what she was thinking.

She just nodded in a way she kind of understood how the other felt. Sometimes she really wanted to get away as well, the death and destruction in the world was a lot to burden on oneself and even more of a burden on those left behind by the dead. "i was joking though, of course it wont burn yo, unless i want it too." She muttered, she couldnt quite put her finger on it but something the man had said had made her annoyed. She frowned staring hard at the flickering flames before sweeping her hand through the centre of the flower, dispelling it immediately and allowing the land to return to its desolate form, without colour or radiance.

Haruo wasn't sure what to say now. Was she feeling sympathetic for him? Or was she still angry that she had to go out of her way to save him. Before Haruo had a chance to think, something in the background caught his eye. He saw a red glint in the darkness, and his heart stopped when he realised what it was. It was a wolf, but this was no normal wolf. The radiation in the wilderness has had adverse effects on the various monsters that live within the forests. This wolf had grown, standing almost six feet tall, and had grown razor-sharp talons and fangs. On closer inspection, he noticed that it was a whole pack of them, at least a dozen. "SHIT!" Haruo screamed, and without even thinking he spun around and sprinted as fast as he could. He seemed to be running faster than usual, and he noticed that his vision had improved too. Was this something to do with what Seraphina done to him?

Seraphina!

"It's too late to go back now" he thought to himself. Besides, she looked like she could take care of herself. Right now, his priority was to find somewhere safe.

Seraphina watched as the other scampered away into the forest after his sudden outburst, she sighed shutting her eyes. She couldn't believe that she had genuinely thought that he would stay. She scowled annoyed, after she had saved him as well, how ungrateful! She leaned back against the destroyed tree shutting her eyes.

Suddenly she felt the air to her left whistle past her face, leaping to the side she rolled over and placed one hand on the floor to steady herself before she stood strait again. Into her dark purple eyes stared the ominpois red ones of the beast. Jumping backwards again, away from the danger she snapped her fingers and ran a hand through her hair. Where her fingers touched the lavander locks they coiled up into a neatly tied ponytail held in place a small ring of white fire that did not burn her.

Snapping a dead branch from the nearest tree Seraphina focused all her energy onto it, muttering an incantation under her breath. Slowly it formed a thin blade made from the fire and wood. She felt her energy level significantly deplete, the effort of transformation took a lot out of her but she couldn't allow these animal to wander in pain, suffering from what the humans took from them and made them into.

Raising the blade she prepared to fight. She had already saved one so why not a few more?

Haruo was still sprinting at full speed. It wasn't an illusion, he was definitely able to run faster than before, and his newly enhanced vision allowed him to navigate with ease. But this was not enough to shake the wolves off his tail. Another one suddenly appeared in front of him, and without thinking, he threw a punch. He was surprised when he managed to knock it into the air and watched it land at least 20 feet away from him. "What is this?" he muttered to himself. He realised now that this was definitely something Seraphina had done to him.

Haruo turned around and started sprinting back to where he had left Seraphina. "I'm fucking crazy" he thought, but he realised that with these new powers, he might be able to help Searaphina fend off the wolves. He hoped that she would be ok, and that she wouldn't be too angry at him for leaving her behind.

Her eyes glimmered with burning ferocity, ferocity that somehow appeared to be burning with a kindness not normally associated with such an emotion but there in Seraphina's eyes was that kind, vicious fire. She shut the glowing orbs briefly, focusing her mind before snapping them open the world becoming crystal clear.

She lifted the fiery blade as the wolf ran at her, the radiation may have changed many of its features but its intelligence and speed of mind had not changed. She easily sidestepped and quickly brought the fire down upon the beasts neck. it did not cut and yet the animal fell to the floor. Dead.

Taking no pride in what she ha done she turned away emotionless and faced her next enemy, ready to attack.

Haruo managed to navigate back to the lakeside where he had left Seraphina. He saw her exactly where she had stood before, with a dead wolf by her feet and several more closing in on her. He noticed the blank look on her face, and couldn't tell how she was going to react to him returning. He suddenly noticed that one of the wolves was running up to her from behind at full speed, and she hadn't noticed, instead focusing her attention on the two advancing wolves in front of her.

"SERAPHINA!" Haruo shouted, before running forward and launching a kick at the wolf about to attack her, knocking it off course and sending it stumbling into a nearby ditch. Haruo turned to face Seraphina, who suddenly became aware of what had just happened. "It's not safe here, there's too many of them!" he shouted with a mixture of fear and leadership. "We need to find a safe place to hide!". He grabbed her hand and ran back into the woods, the wolves giving chase. There were at least two dozens of them now.

not having much choice left as she was dragged along Seraphina followed. She stumbled after Harou as he pulled her deeper into the forest. Finally she saw herself in a small clearing and yanked her hand free and scowled at the other "Great well done, now i cant even give those creatures a peaceful death and you went ahead and caused them more pain, dont you have any idea the suffering they are already in." She looked down upon the man "Do i dont so pose you do do you? After all you are only human? It is to much for me to expect compassion from such creatures!" He sat down on the blackened grass her eyes glowing red, flashing with anger and her light coloured lips pursed in annoyance.

Haruo couldn't help but feel angry after what Seraphina had said. "You just expected me to let them kill me instead? Is that what you want, after all the trouble you apparently went to to try and save me?" he said, daring to raise his voice towards Seraphina. He walked over to where she sat and exhaled deeply. "What do you have to do now?" he asked. "Do you have to return to where you came from?"

She glared at him. "I expected you to stay away actually. If you run I expected you to stay away." She kept her gaze down thinking "yes of course I need to head back but unfortunately for you, you are going to have to come to, unfortunately my power won't keep you alive so I need to get you a blade or gun or something to store the fire essance in, otherwise it will fade without something to burn." Her voice became thoughtful as she considered her options. No, she had to do this there was no other way. As oinconviniant as it was he would have to come with her, a person had to choose their item of essance or it would just fade and burn out. Standing she said "right then you ready?"
