Saga
|In this thread you can share whatever it is, be random. As long as it is interesting (basically interesting yet random facts); Lake Hillier (The Barbie's vacation destination) The most notable feature of the lake is its pink colour. It is such a significant distinguishing feature of the archipelago that air passengers often take note of it. The colour is permanent, and does not alter when the water is taken in a container.espite the unusual hue, the lake exhibits no known adverse effects upon humans. Source: Wikipedia The World in the Water Tunnel I've always wanted to surf. I just want to do it, but so damn dangerous; I suppose part of the thrill is exactly that. They say that to ride the wave is really hard and all happens for some seconds. However, the seconds you are in the water tunnel formed by the wave are rumored to be like time traveling through nature - feeling the air, hearing the break of the wave as water sprays around you and perhaps the sound of a seagull. Rhye_Meow
Ok, this is weird and basically dark.. (Forgive me but i like this fact actually ) In Japan there is a forest just at the northbase of mount Fuji, called Aoikigahara. This forest is also known as Suicide forest or Sea of Trees. Yes, Suicide forest. For some unknown reason, over the years alot of people go to this forest and commits suicide. The statistic of how many killed themselves actually varies, but the amount of bodies have alarmed the government and was force to put volunteers to search the perimeters from time to time. There are signs all over Aoikigahara something like this.. "Life is precious, think about your family." O.o

Stygiomedusa gigantea With only 17 sightings in the last 110 years it is a jellyfish that is rarely seen, but believed to be widespread throughout the world. It is thought to be one of the largest invertebrate predators in the deep sea ecosystem. The jellyfish has an umbrella-shaped bell that can be up to a metre wide, and has four arms that extend up to six metres in length. These "paddle-like" arms lack stinging tentacles, and scientists are unsure of their exact function. It has been suggested that they might be used to envelop and trap prey. Kinda creepy too xD

Saga
| And since it's the season of Sakura Blossom! I decided to start with Sakura facts. Sakura Blossom The first ever usage of Sakura as an event of 'flower viewing' was mentioned in the famous Japanese novel "Tale of Genji". Originally people connected Sakura to the year's harvest, as the announce of rice-planting. They believed that there's 'kami' (*god) inside trees that makes offerings. [ Nutmeg Nutmeg is a hallucinigenic drug which is regularly used to flavor such lovely things as custard tarts and fruit cakes. It is also a poison which will kill you while you suffer a variety of extremely revolting (and one or two not-so-revolting) side-effects on the way. Ingesting 2 grams of nutmeg will give you similar feelings to having taken amphetamines (the not-so-revolting side-effect) but will also cause nausea, fever, and headaches. Ingesting 7.5 grams will cause convulsions, and eating 10 grams will cause hallucinations. Eating a whole nutmeg can lead to “nutmeg psychosis” which includes feelings of impending doom, confusion, and agitation. There have been two recorded cases of death by nutmeg (one in 1908 and one in 2001). Source: Please Register/ Sign In, in order to see the links. Lumoon
Omg I love the 3D pen! Oh what I would do with that OMO Anyways, here's some lightning! Lightning On Earth, the lightning frequency is approximately 40–50 times a second or nearly 1.4 billion flashes per year. Because human beings are terrestrial and most of their possessions are on the Earth, where lightning can damage or destroy them, CG lightning is the most studied and best understood of the three types, even though IC and CC are more common types of lightning. Lightning's relative unpredictability limits a complete explanation of how or why it occurs, even after hundreds of years of scientific investigation. Err yes I love nature xD but save me from the bees! >. (Damn! Doesn't look nearly as good as Saga's xD It took me like half an hour to just change the title's colour xDD)

Lumoon
Please Register/ Sign In, in order to see the links. awww this is super cute! rabbit8 Aurora Borealis An aurora is a natural light display in the sky particularly in the high latitude (Arctic and Antarctic) regions, caused by the collision of energetic charged particles with atoms in the high altitude atmosphere (thermosphere). The charged particles originate in the magnetosphere and solar wind and, on Earth, are directed by the Earth's magnetic field into the atmosphere. Most auroras occur in a band known as the auroral zone, which is typically 3° to 6° wide in latitude and observed at 10° to 20° from the geomagnetic poles at all local times (or longitudes). The solar wind is directed into the atmosphere by the Earth's magnetosphere. A geomagnetic storm expands the auroral zone to lower latitudes. gin
.since before watching Jennifer's Body this place piqued some of my curiosity. Devil's Kettle Falls A giant pothole, the Devil’s Kettle, swallows half of the Brule and no one has any idea where it goes. The consensus is that there must be an exit point somewhere beneath Lake Superior, but over the years, researchers and the curious have poured dye, pingpong balls, even logs into the kettle, then watched the lake for any sign of them. So far, none has ever been found. And this baffling situation only gets weirder when geologists start explaining Devil’s Kettle. Consider, for instance, the sheer quantity of water pouring into the kettle every minute of every day. While the notion of some kind of broad, underground river is an exciting device in movies, the reality is that those sorts of deep caves are rare, and only form in soft rock types like limestone. Northern Minnesota, as geologists will tell you, is built of stronger stuff. So where does the water go? So far, nobody knows — but not for lack of trying. Scientists and hikers will keep tossing things into the Devil’s Kettle and watching Lake Superior for any sign of their trinkets, but maybe there are other explanations. If you happen to be traveling, say, somewhere in Eurasia and stumble across a geyser that’s surrounded by pingpong balls, logs, and even a car that locals are reported to have pushed in one night years ago, you might want to call a geologist in Minnesota. You may just have solved the mystery of Devil’s Kettle Falls.
