Haruka nodded, walking ahead to retrieve the ingredients. Every time he found an ingredient, he'd place it in the cart Makoto pushed. Once all the ingredients were retrieved, Haruka began to walk towards the registers.

"You can pick up things that you need. I'll wait here at the register." he said.

"Hmm, I don't really need anything in particular." Makoto answered. He turned his gaze to the beverage area and decided to take a bottle of Pocari Sweat. "I'll pick this up then." He muttered in a change of decision. He placed the bottle on the cart and pushed it as he stood behind Haruka on the line. "How about you, Haru? Did you not need anything?" Makoto asked before he totally positioned the cart.

"I don't need anything at the moment. And if our sales go well, it would be unwise to get extra stuff since it might go bad while we're away." Haruka said, watching as Makoto began wheeling the cart to the register. He started taking stuff out for the cashier to scan. Once the lady at the register came up with an amount, Haruka took out his wallet and handed her his portion of the total.

"I guess so." Makoto agreed as he helped taking out the things from the cart. When everything was done scanning, Makoto also took out his wallet. "Here's my share." He said as he gave Haruka half of his budget. The amount wasn't really that high, but it felt so wrong to make Haruka pay all by himself. "I hope this is enough." Makoto added with a worried look.

"It is." Haruka said. "Thank you."

He took the merchandise from the bagging area and took two bags, leaving the remaining two for Makoto.

"I can't remember the last time we had time like this." he commented. There was much truth to Haruka's statement. Despite the fact that they saw each other often due to swim practice, school had been keeping them apart, even when they had free moments. Despite his stoic exterior, Haruka was thinking about his future, mostly where he would go for college and what he would do there. He knew that he didn't have much time left before having to make that decision, so he kept it at the back of his mind, even while being with Makoto like this.

Makoto took the remaining bags and followed Haruka. It was Makoto's first time on going to the grocery with Haruka. It made him feel happy for some reason. Spending time with Haruka really is Makoto's relaxation, and even Makoto is aware of that- he just doesn't know the reason why though. Makoto smiled when Haruka commented out of a sudden. It made Makoto glad that Haruka was having fun, even though they were just doing grocery. Makoto then shifted on Haruka's side. "Probably when we're in Elementary." Makoto answered as he giggled.

Makoto and Haruka have been together for such a long time already, but Makoto knew the sad truth: They'll eventually part ways.

A few minutes later, the boys arrived at home. Haruka opened the door, holding it open for Makoto. He looked to the sky and saw that it was getting late.

"Makoto, it's a little dark out." he said. "If you want, you can stay here for the night."

Makoto thanked Haruka for opening the door for him. He only carried two bags they were a little bit heavy. He placed the bags on the counter carefully since there were some fragile objects inside. Makoto thanked Haruka again for offering him a place to stay for the night, but Makoto needed to go home. "Thanks Haru, but mom is expecting m to go home tonight." Makoto answered as he walked towards Haruka's front door. Before leaving, he patted Haruka's head and caressed his hair for a little while. "Make sure to not oversleep, okay?" Makoto teased as he chuckled and then he left.

Haruka said nothing, but he looked into Makoto's eyes with a gaze that said "Thanks for being with me tonight", no matter how stoic it looked. It was the little subtleties in his facial expressions that only Makoto could pick up on that made this clear. Going into the house with the groceries after Makoto was no longer in view, Haruka put them away and got ready to go to sleep.

((Next post should skip to the next day, unless you're planning for Makoto to do something on his own and think about Haru~))

The next day, Makoto woke up in a rather comfortable way. His back didn't hurt like how the last time it did. Makoto went downstairs and greeted everyone in the house. Ran and Ren immediately hugged him, and it made Makoto smile. It was their everyday routine, and each day with his family is special.

"Do you have an appointment today, Makoto?" His mom asked him. "Hmm, yeah. I'm going over Haru's." Makoto answered as he sat on the dining chair. "Makoto, I bought special dumplings when I was in Hakodate. Give some to Haruka." His dad offered as he pointed on a colored box on top of the counter. Makoto happily nodded as he grabbed a toasted bread and took a bite of it.

Haruka awoke in his bed. His parents weren't back yet, but he was perfectly capable of taking care of himself. After his bath, Haruka went downstairs to start prepping the kitchen for Makoto's arrival. He wouldn't show it, but he was a little excited for his friend's arrival.

Makoto placed the dumpling box and the special pan on a large bag and immediately took off. As he was on his way to Haruka's house, the usual white cat greeted him on the stairs. Makoto stopped his tracks and crouched in order to greet the cat back. The cat was already big now.. Time totally flew by quickly. That cat was still a small little kitten who could fit onto Makoto's palm, and look at the creature now. Nostalgia filled Makoto as he petted the cat. The cat, returning Makoto's kindness in all those times, purred and licked Makoto's finger. Makoto giggled and eventually, he left.

Arriving at Haruka's front door, Makoto pressed the doorbell, waiting for a certain someone to open the door for him.

Haruka got up from his chair when the doorbell rang and opened the door to see his friend standing with a bag of stuff.

"Hello Makoto." He said, opening the door further for his friend. "Would you like me to get that bag for you?"

Makoto smiled when a familiar face showed up, opening the door for him. "Certainly." He answered as he gave the bag to Haruka. The bag was pretty heavy due to the special pan, and it kind of made Makoto's fingers numb. "By the way, Haru, my dad went to Hakodate and bought some special dumplings. We had an extra box so he asked me to give it to you." Makoto indicated as he pointed on the bag.

Haruka took the bag from his friend, bringing it to the kitchen.

"Tell him thank you for the dumplings." Haruka said, taking the contents out of the bag. He placed the taiyaki pan on the counter and stored the dumplings to eat later. "Want to get started soon?"

"I will. Though my dad would prefer to hear it straight from you." Makoto answered and then he giggled. It's been such a while since Haruka came into his house. His family, especially Ren and Ran, miss Haruka already. They've been playing game consoles with them before, and it was indeed fun. "Since we already had most of the things by going to the grocery, I guess we can start already so that we could still remake some Taiyaki if ever we fail the first time." Makoto indicated as he walked towards the counter.

Haruka nodded as Makoto finished speaking. He was busy gathering the ingredients for taiyaki together. As he thought about Makoto's family, he wondered how long it had been since he was over at the Tachibana household.

"How long has it been since I came over?" Haruka asked as he brought the container of cake flour out.

Makoto sat on a chair as he observed Haruka. He would really like to help since he was the one who suggested that they make Taiyaki, but since he's not knowledgeable about it, he decided to just wait for Haruka to call for his assistance. As the question got delivered to him, Makoto thought for a moment. "Probably two months?" Makoto asked, his face shows that his answer was inaccurate.

Haruka nodded, pulling up the site with the taiyaki recipe. Once all the ingredients were gathered, he looked to Makoto. Two months? Sounded close enough. All he needed to know was that it had been a while since he was over.

"Maybe I'll come over soon. After this, perhaps?" he suggested. "Do you want to try making the taiyaki now?"

Makoto was just idling on the chair until Haruka mentioned that he'll probably come over. That lightened up Makoto's already kind eyes. He immediately stood up, went on the counter, and wrapped his arms around Haruka from behind. He was overcame with joy that he unconsciously did that to Haruka. "S-Sorry, I was just happy." Wearing an apologetic look as soon as he let go of Haruka, Makoto rubbed his hands and averted his gaze. "I-I guess I'll help."

Haruka didn't even flinch when Makoto hugged him from behind, though inside he felt a little flustered. It was slightly-more-than-friendly gestures like that that would catch Haruka off guard enough for Makoto to easily see into his mind. However, they also gave Haruka comfort.

"It's fine. Let's just get started." Haruka said. "Do you want me to read off the recipe to you?"

Feeling the other man's warmth on his arms, Makoto's cheeks flushed a little bit. Even if he already let go of Haruka, Makoto could still feel the after-warmth of Haruka around him. Trying to avert the fact that he was being flustered, he immediately nodded when Haruka said that they have to start instead. "Sure, please do. I need to be guided since I do not have any idea at all.."

"Okay. Let's begin." Haruka said. "Mix the cake flour, baking powder, and sugar together. Beat an egg. Add water or milk to the beaten egg. Then add the flour mixture and mix well. Move batter to an easy pour container."

He read directly off of the website, looking over to see if he brought everything out.

"If I forgot to bring out anything or you need help identifying, I can try to help." Haruka said, carefully choosing his words since he wasn't even sure he knew what some of the ingredients were.

"Okay." Makoto answered as he wore a happy expression. Finally, he was given a task so that at least, he may be able to help Haruka. Afterall, they are doing this so that they could gain money for their out of town trip. Makoto immediately grabbed the flour out of the bag and placed it in the counter. He did the same thing with the baking powder, milk, egg, and sugar. He did the mixing great and easily without any problems.

His relaxed face turned into that of a cautious one's when the task of cracking the egg came. He cracked the egg carefully, and his result was imperfect. Still, it was enough rather than having the egg white and yolk spill. Beating the egg well, he sometimes tilted the bowl to beat faster. After that step, he proceeded onto pouring the mixes on the bowl.

Seeing that Makoto was done, Haruka moved on to the next step.

"Preheat taiyaki pan. Keep heat at medium. Brush oil on the both sides of the pan (inside part of pan). Pour a small amount of batter to the preheated pan (on one side). Add a large spoonful of red bean paste. Then pour a little more batter just enough to cover the paste. Close the pan and turn over." he read, watching as Makoto made the batter. Cooking with him like this seemed to make Haruka happy, though his face would never show it. There were so many things he had on his mind that he wanted Makoto to know, some of which he couldn't even put into words. He was hoping that they could take their vacation more than ever since it would give him the perfect opportunity to reveal these thoughts to his long-time friend.
