Louis had stopped by the library after his last class of the day. He would usually stay on campus for a few hours after school so he would miss the rush hour traffic on his way home. He pulled out a book and sat down to read, not noticing Ryan or the other boys at all.

Ryan quickly set up his study corner, pulling a few texts from his bag and placing his laptop on the table. He started it up, but he didn't log on. He'd heard something by the shelve closest to him, and he slowly walked over, only to be jumped by the blonde boy. The other covered Ryan's mouth while the brunette acted as the watch. Ryan's back was against the table, the edge hitting him painfully in the side.

"Did you think you would get away without a good-bye?" the blonde snarled. Ryan clawed at the other's hand, digging his nails into flesh, causing him to remove it, but only to slap Ryan across the face.

"How dare you," he growled. "I was only coming to get the essay you promised me, and this is what I get?" He aimed a kick to Ryan's stomach, and his breath was taken away. The pummeling didn't stop, until Ryan was bruised, black-eyed, had a few cuts and a bloody nose. At that point, the blonde had had enough. He went over to the table, leafing through the books until he found the revised and written essay he spoke of.

"I'll just take what's mine," he snarled. "Have a good day." And with that, the two left. The violent scene had been quiet, as it often was. Ryan was never one to speak out, and he wondered how he would explain this to anyone. Slowly and painfully, Ryan sat up on the floor, holding himself, and let out a single, rather loud sob before beginning to cry silently.

The library was mostly empty, so when Louis hear a sob from a few shelves away he looked up from his book. He hadn't thought that there was anyone else in the library. He stood up and walked to where he had heard the noise. His eyes widened when he saw Ryan's state. "Oh my god" he hurried over to the student "what happened to you?"

Ryan glanced up at him with an astonished look on his face. Then, he looked away in shame, nit wanting to meet the eyes of the one he admired and looked up to.

"Nothing," he murmured. "Just a... disagreement, is all." He said this bitterly, but he would never be able to admit that he was bullied, at least not directly, to anyone, let alone him.

Louis crouched down next to him. "that doesn't look like a disagreement. it looks like you were attacked" he lightly touched a bruise that was forming on Ryan's face. "who did this to you?" he watched the student with a look of concern.

Ryan flinched away from his hand, his face throbbing worse. He clenched his jaw against the pain, but fresh tears began to roll down his face.

"Ah," Ryan said pitifully. "It doesn't really matter, does it? They're gone now. Won't have to deal with them until tomorrow, probably."

"It does matter Ryan" Louis said sternly "first of all you need to get your injuries treated and secondly you need to start consider pressing charges. This is assault, it's not just some kids messing around. Especially if this has happened before"

Ryan wouldn't meet the other's eyes, but he sighed, looking down at his hands, which were still intact.

"I know," he murmured. "But I can't. I hate fighting and I can't say it isn't my fault, at least a little. I need to learn to say no, but I never do. I let them pick on me, and I never say anything. It isn't like anyone else cares." He glanced up the man. "In fact, Professor Bari, you are probably the first person that has cared enough to speak to me." He looked back down.

"I don't want to be hated even, more," Ryan said glumly. "And that is what will happen if I press charges. Assault or not, that will only make it worse."

"Ryan, I'm not going to just stand by while one of my students is being attacked." Louis stood back up "if you don't want to press charges then I'm going to be reporting this to the school, I know you don't want to cause problems but this is a dangerous situation." he sighed softly and ran a hand through his hair.

Ryan jumped onto his feet quickly.

"No, don't!" he exclaimed. "They'll find out, and Zeke'll kill me for reporting-" He stopped abruptly, covering his mouth. He'd said too much. Now, his injuries took hold of his, and his legs began to give, causing him to tremble on his feet, stumbling to the side.

Louis quickly stepped forward and steadied Ryan. "Be careful..." he frowned "Zeke? is that who's been attacking you?" he shook his head "if you're that scared of him why don't you get a restraining order against him?"

Ryan closed his eyes with dread, but he spoke.

"Zeke and Greg," he whispered. "They are the two from earlier. They always ask me for things and I never give it quickly enough. Its my own fault. If I listened to them, there wouldn't be a problem." Ryan smiled wryly.

"Even if I did get a restraining order, there wouldn't be anything to keep them away. They come after me, or send someone. They always do."

Louis paused for a moment. "lets get you patched up, I'll help you figure something out as soon as we do that" he said quietly. "I have a first aide kit in my office, can you walk that far?"

"I-I think so," Ryan stuttered. He clenched his against as he took a step, a small gasp escaping his lips. Well, at least he didn't collapse.

"I think I'll be alright," he said quietly, looking to the other. "Thanks, Professor Bari. I appreciate your help."

Louis carefully supported him. "okay, come on." He slowly to walked him to his office. When they arrived he let Ryan sit down on his chair and went to find the first aide kit. "How many times have they done this?"

Ryan flinched a little as he sat down on the chair, but he clenched his jaw.

"Well, that depends," he said slowly. "It's Thursday. So, in this week, this would be the third time they've jumped me." He said this without looking at the professor. He had decided it was no use trying to keep it from him anymore, but that didn't keep him from feeling guilty and pathetic.

Louis brought the first aide kit over and started to gently treat the wounds on Ryan's face. "You never thought of trying to get help from someone?" He asked, frowning deeply. "what if it got worse?"

Ryan held himself still as Professor Bari treated his face, but he hissed in pain nevertheless.

"Ah," he said. "I suppose it is a useless pride. Or a more useless desire to avoid being a burden. I don't like to inconvenience others. I guess I figured that, since they never got a rise out of me, they'd get bored soon and stop."

Louis finished Ryan's face and moved on to his arms. "I'll never think of you as a burden, so please let me know if anything happens... Okay?" he said the words firmly but gently, locking his gaze with the student to show he was serious.

Ryan looked into the man's eyes, and seeing the seriousness there, he nodded.

"Okay," he said. He held still as the man cleaned him up, flinching now and again with a small yelp. He was slightly ashamed to be seen in this state.

"You must think that I'm pathetic," Ryan whispered. "Pitiful. Not standing up for myself, being to afraid to say anything." Tears were beginning to well up in his eyes.

Louis frowned as he finished cleaning him up. "Of course not, I don't think that at all..." he tried to give Ryan a reassuring smile "you've been very strong to be able to put up with so much hardship..."

Ryan looked up at the man, a prominent blush gracing his cheeks.

"S-strong?" he stuttered in disbelief. "Me? I doubt it. If anyone's strong, it's probably you. You're the one who talked about restraining orders and things. I said I didn't want to make things worse, but really, I hadn't even thought about them." Ryan smiled shyly. "Pretty ignorant of me. If I had done one if those things, you wouldn't have to be worrying over me, Professor Bari."

Louis smiled and fondly ruffled Ryan's hair. "I still think you're very strong." he walked over to another chair and sat down "it's not a bother at all, so don't talk about it like it's unconvincing me"

Ryan blushed deeply as the Professor messed up his hair, watching the man sit down.

"W-well, thank you, Professor Bari," he said shyly, stuttering slightly. "I appreciate it."

"you're welcome..." Louis sighed softly. "So I still think the best thing would be to file for a restraining order, then if it got worse you could press more serious charges. Of course I wouldn't mind helping you if you needed support in that, but you might prefer to find someone with more qualifications."
