The young pianist pulled back a bit, moving one hand to cup Fintan's cheek. "So... When are you going to leave? Today? Tomorrow?" He questioned quietly, slight pain and sadness in his voice as he sighed. "Sorry... I just want you to finish this sooner..." He whispered out quietly before pressing a kiss to his neck.

Fintan sighed softly as he hugged the other back closely "I know...I know, Thomas..." he murmured softly, pulling back lightly as he ran a hand through the others hair "I think the sooner I go will be better. I'll head out tomorrow" he said, smiling softly. He didn't want to upset him that much by leaving, but it made him happy to see how much the other cared and would miss him. "I promise I'll make it as quick as I can" he spoke, kissing the other softly "We should probably be heading back. It's about time, isn't it?" he said as he helped the other up.

Fintan frowned when he saw how upset he was. He didn't know what else to say. Thomas let out a soft chuckle as he observed the other's reaction to the request. He would make sure to leave marks bright enough for the whole two weeks to stay. "Thanks, Fin." He said with a light smile as he pressed a kiss to his nose and walked off to Bella. The rest of the birthday was just as Thomas wanted. His sister had a lot of fun, him and Fintan could spend some time alone together, too. But now, it was all coming to an end... Some of the kids were sleepy, so it was time for the end. Thomas had ordered fireworks, but the cake he made himself. It was... Huge. Enough for everyone to get at least two pieces. So, they all ended up sitting in the park, eating cake and watching fireworks. Thomas felt complete... Even though Bella cried from happiness, and the world could end any moment, he felt happy to be there... To be there with the people he loved.

Fintan just blushed more, giving a small nod in response to the other thanks. He just smiled slightly and took hold of his hand as he started walking back to the group of kids where the continued the party for Bella. Everything went smoothly, thankfully no sudden health changes or incidents I not only Bella, but any of the kids. They continued on with the day, watching fireworks and eating cake and just having fun together as family and friends. Eventually, they day came to an end though, and they had to take Bella back to the hospital, where he and Thomas said their goodbyes to Bella, though, Fintan stayed behind for a moment to talk to the girl alone.

Thomas was a bit surprised when he heard that Fintan wanted to stay alone with his sister for a while. Deciding the merman just wanted to wish her a happy birthday privately, he nodded and told the other he'd just wait in the car. Bella, on the other hand, didn't even question it. When the other left the room, he moved to sit in a chair beside Bella, smiling a bit as she spoke "Of course, I understand. I wont take long" he said able to see how tired she was. After all, with such a weak body and an active day, she was bound to be exhausted. It was good she didn't have any sudden health problems, though. "Uhm, well, I had talked to Thomas a bit, about your health and this cancer you have and everything..." he trailed off, unsure how to go about it in a way to make sure Bella understood this wasn't a promise to cure her or anything "We call it something different where I'm from, in the sea, y'know. But we have very similar diseases. To us, it's not much of a big deal, because we have access to a particular sea-specific growing plant that treats it....long story short, I think it might be of help to you, though, of course there is no guarantee, I hope you can understand. But I thought, if you were willing, it might be worth a shot to try it, if you wanted I could go get it for you" he said.

Bella gazed at the merman as he talked about her cancer. Why would he bring that up now?.. She didn't want to think about it now. Her eyes slowly turned away as she sighed out. What was he going to say that she didn't know? A cure? Her eyes widened to the fullest and her lips parted as she quickly turned to Fintan, hurriedly gripping his shoulders. "There's a way to cure this?!?" She asked loudly, her frail hands trembling slightly. "Oh my god... Oh my god..." She whispered quietly, a twinge of hope in her eyes. "Please, if you can, I'll do anything!" She sounded honest. If only she could get cured... If only this could be over... "Please..." She whispered out softly before pulling Fintan into a tight hug.

Fintan could tell that the girl didn't really want to talk about her condition or anything at all, and of course not, Fin understood that. But he wanted to try, to do something for her, even if it was a small chance. Fintan blinked a bit at her sudden energy "Ah, Bella, Bella hold on" he breathed, hugging her back, smiling a bit before pulling away "Please don't get too excited. I know it may be a cruel thing, but, I can't make any promises. Yes, it has helped a lot for my kind - but my kind, merpeople. I don't know if it would do the same for humans. It definitely wont harm you in any way. But it may not cure you either, or help a whole lot...that's a chance" he tried to get her to understand. The last thing he wanted was to get her to believe she was going to be cured, only to be let down tremendously if it didn't.

"I don't care about that! If there's at least a bit hope, I have to try!" Bella exclaimed a bit louder than she intended to, her hands now gripping Fintan's. "If there'a even the smallest chance... I want to try..." She repeated, tears glimmering in her eyes. "Please..." The girl asked softly as she let go and looked down. "D-Did you tell my brother about this?" Bella asked, her eyes wide as she looked at the merman. Did Thomas know? Did he agree? "He's probably so happy about it..." She said softly, sniffling quietly before rubbing her nose. "S-Sorry..." She said with a faint smile, rubbing off the tears from her eyes. It was hard not to get emotional after learning there was a cure.

Fintan smiled a bit at the girls excitement and he nodded his head "Of course, I understand. I'm happy I can help..." he trailed off as he wiped her tears away and pulled her into a hug. "I already planned a trip to go find some, don't worry. But I just want you to understand there is a chance it may not change or help anything" he said in a reminder. He knew learning something like this, a possibility to be cured, the girl could be so overwhelmed with excitement to miss the important point and possibility that it may not have any effect "I'm leaving tomorrow. I haven't told Thomas why though. He's really been quite stressed lately about your health, I didn't want to make him stress over it more and the possibilities..." he spoke, giving her one more hug before he stood up "I should be going soon, Thom will wonder what's taking so long" he said and smiled, ruffling her hair lightly "It might take me a couple weeks, but I promise, I'll get it, even if I have to search every inch of the sea floor" he teased lightly with a smile, but partly serious about that too.

"I know, but... But if the chance that it can help is there, I have to try!" Bella still repeated the same, over and over again. Her eyes widened when she heard that Thomas didn't know - although, after hearing the reason, she nodded slightly, a faint smile on her face. "A-Ah... I see." She muttered out softly, hugging back tightly. She smiled softly at Fintan, tears shining in her big eyes. "Thanks, Fin." The girl said softly, then slowly shifted in her bed to get into a comfortable position. With a quiet, shaky sigh leaving her mouth, Bella closed her eyes. The world just brightened up for her. She may have a chance to live her life more...

 

Thomas, in the meanwhile, was getting impatient. He had already turned on the car engine, as well as the radio, tapping his fingers on the wheel. What was taking Fintan so long?...

Fintan nodded with a smile when she said how much she was serious about this. Of course, he understood. After finishing up the conversation with her, he said his goodbyes, wishing her a final happy birthday, before leaving the room and heading down the white halls of the hospital. A few minutes later, he reached the exit where he headed out and to Thomas' car, only to see he must have been getting impatient by the look on his face. As he got in the car, he smiled a bit sheepishly "Sorry I took so long, miss me?" he teased lightly, leaning over to kiss the other, hoping he wasn't too irritated by the wait.
