Fintan sighed to himself as he stood up, having his back to the other as the tears were really starting to overflow in his eyes. He wiped at them with the back of his hand as he turned his attention to Thomas when he got out of the bath after him, talking more softy now. He sighed, looking to the other as he quickly pulled him into a hug, burying his face into his chest "Just please trust me, Thomas...I wont leave you, I promise I come back. And when I come back, I promise you'll understand more clearly" He said, hugging to him tightly, afraid if he let go the other would leave him, accuse him again of such things like cheating. He just wished the other would let him go...he understood his concern, but wanted his trust, instead of the other thinking he would cheat on him.

Thomas let out a quivering sigh as he wrapped his arms around the merman's body, gently running his fingers down his back. After a bit, he gently moved Fintan's face away, wiping off his tears with his fingers. "I'll wait, then." He muttered out softly and pressed a kiss to the other's forehead. "But... Don't take too long, okay?" The brunet asked with a small smile as he kissed his boyfriend's nose playfully, trying to break the tension. He smiled warmly at him, wrapping his arms a bit tighter around his body. "Say... How about we make some hot chocolate before we go to sleep?" He offered, his smile sweet and soft.

Fintan sighed softly as he hugged tightly to the other. He felt bad for not telling Thomas, he really did want to, be he didn't want to get his hopes up. The same went with Bella - the only reason he had told her, was because it was her who would be the one effected by the plant and taking it and everything. "I wont. That, I do promise" he said, kissing him softly before smiling a bit. As the other mentioned hot chocolate, he chuckled a bit "Sure...but maybe lets put some clothes on first?" he chuckled smiling softly at his lover. He hesitated, before deciding to hug him again "I love you so much, Thomas. More than I think you know" he murmured softly.

Thomas smiled softly as he held his boyfriend to himself, gently stroking his back. "While clothes aren't neessary to drink hot chocolate, I guess that's a good idea." The brunet said with a quiet chuckle. "You didn't know how to put on clothing when we first met, remember?" He asked with a teasing tone as he kissed his boyfriend's nose. The hug and the words he heard from Fintan were pleasantly surprising. "I'm glad..." He murmured out softly as he held Fintan to himself for a bit. The brunet let go off the merman after a bit, ently running his hand over his hair. "Let's go dress up already."

Fintan smiled as he hugged the other, before giggling softly at the reminder of when they first met "That's right...I didn't know how to do a lot of things. I bet if you knew we'd end up together like this, you would have never taught me how to put clothes on" he teased the other, jokingly, before he headed back into the bedroom with him. He grabbed some boxers and shorts, leaving the rest bare as they were going to go to sleep soon anyways. He headed back into the kitchen, helping the other prepare the hot chocolate "I'm really going to miss land food" he chuckled.

"Hey, I'm not that bad!" Thomas whined softly as he huffed, walking after Fintan into the bedroom. "If I wouldn't have taught you how to put on clothes, I couldn't take you on cute dates." He mumbled out as he put on his sleepwear and walked to the kitchen. The brunet hugged Fintan to himself before smiling widely. "I'll make you whatever you want when you get back." He promised softly as he pecked his nose and began making the hot chocolate. "Can you take out the milk?" He asked softly, a warm smile on his face.

Fintan chuckled a bit at the others protest "I dunno, maybe you are" he teased but then smiled at the others mention of dates "What are you talking about, half our dates just mean us making love~" he teased, but it was all in good fun and humor. He really did enjoy the dates they had together. He smiled as they continued to talk and even reminisce of when they first met each other and everything. Fin still had the scar on his leg/tail (Depending what form he was in) from the shark attack that landed him on shore in the first place. As they talking, Fin got the other the milk he requested, handing it to him.

Thomas enjoyed talking with Fintan, especially since it was their last evening together. "Thanks, babe." He said without really realizing he used that nickname. The brunet calmly made the chocolate, a warm smile on his face. A soft laugh left his mouth from time to time at some of their memories. The pianist poured the chocolate into two mugs when he was done, then searched around for marshmallows before putting four in each one. He smiled and gave one to Fintan, a goofy smile on his face. "Enjoy~" He said softly.

Fintan smiled as he continued to talk with the other and helped him make the drinks. He surely would miss the male over the time he would be gone. And reminiscing wasn't helping his sad feelings of leaving either. He sat with the other at the table as they drank their hot chocolate, trying to take as long as possible so he could spend more time awake with the other. But eventually, the night did have to come to and end, and they fell asleep together, tangled and cuddling in each others embrace.

The next morning came all too soon for Fintan, however. And even though he awoke before Thomas, he had stayed laying beside him until he had woken as well. As he was getting ready that morning to leave - which mostly meant eating and mentally preparing himself for leaving the others touch and company for a bit, he smiled a bittersweet smile to the other "Aside from the food, The first thing I want to hear when I come back is you're piano playing" he made the other promise, smiling as he kissed him.

Thomas felt so damn upset the morning of Fintan's leave. He could barely hide how big of a thing this was for him... The man just sighed quietly, making his boyfriend a good breakfast before he had to go. A sad smile was on his face as he promised the other what he asked for. "I'm going to play a song as you go now, if you don't mind." The brunet said softly as he smiled, pulling the merman into a tight hug, burrying his face into his shoulder. "I'll be waiting for you, always." He promised softly and pressed a warm kiss to his cheek. He barely could keep himself from crying... Good-byes weren't a strong part of him.

Fintan just tried to force a smile on his face that morning, knowing how upset and effected Thomas was. Maybe he should just tell him why he was going? That thought only processed in his mind for half a second, before he quickly shook it away. He ate breakfast with the other, as usual, but it was much different than usual that morning. He instantly fell into the others hug, hugging him back as he buried his face into his chest, biting his lip as he tried to stay strong for the other "Of course, go ahead and play" He spoke softly.

Thomas sighed quietly, his breath a bit shaky as he held the other to himself. "You know... I feel like those two weeks will be like forever without you here." He murmured out with trembling lips as he pulled back and pressed a soft kiss to his lips. "Good luck." He said with a sad smile before turning around. The brunet felt tears burning his eyes as he sat down at the piano and began playing. It was one of those songs he'd played for Fintan before... The seashell song. It reminded him of Fintan himself... He loved that song, but now it only made him sad.

Fintan bit his lip as he clutched to the other, trying hard not to cry. He swollen throat made it hard to swallow, as he kissed the other back "I love you" he spoke as he watched the other go to his piano to play. Hearing the music ring through his ears, he felt the tears stinging in his eyes as he turned around, quickly leaving through the front door. He took a heavy breath as he still heard the music echoing inside the house as tears streamed down his face as he walked away towards the shore. Standing before the rushing water, he glanced back towards the direction of Thomas's house with a frown "Please don't forget about me..." he murmured softly. Standing on the rock reef that was like a small path deeper out to the ocean, he stood at the edge, before jumping off into the deeper part of the sea, swimming further as his body turned into his natural form.

At some point, tears began rolling down Thomas' cheeks as he continued playing. He finished the whole song, though he knew Fintan wasn't there to hear it anymore. His shoulders began shaking as he stood up, walking to the bed they shared. He knew this wasn't the end, but... Hw would still miss him so much. So much, it hurt him to even think about it. The brunet stood in front of their bed, remembering their times there - ones filled with passion, others with love, or even sadness. Alone, this bed would feel so empty... Thomas knew he'd spend the days alone while simply waiting for the other to return to him. Or, so he thought... Fintan didn't come back when he'd promised to.

Fintan had indeed been gone for quite some time. THough there hadn't been a single day that went by he didn't think about Thomas. He had to travel quite far to get what he was looking for, and he encountered lots of trouble throughout the journey. Similar to packs of animals, such a wolves, or felines, in the sea, the merpeople had their territory. THough of course, there weren't a lot of merpeople, so it wasn't often a merperson passed anothers territory. Fintan had to leave his own clans area, and had to be careful when crossing amongst other creatures in the sea, as he went to unfamiliar parts. He of course did visit his family and say hi to them for a few days, but that was it. Thankfully, he'd been able to find what he was looking for. But with a lot of trouble. Various trouble along that way that delayed him enough to almost a month he'd been gone now. But he was finally back on land today, excited to meet his lover once again.

Thomas hadn't been dealing with Fintan being late at all. Two weeks, he could've waited. But when it turned to a month... He couldn't take it anymore. The brunet, once a calm and soft person, turned to drinking. One night, sadly, he... Slipped. The morning after, he woke up in another man's bed. Unintentionally, he'd cheated on his boyfriend. After that, he just sunk deeper and deeper into his depression. At some point, he even self-harmed, though it didn't last long for him. It didn't help. The brunet now spent most of his days lying on the sofa and drinking. He hadn't touched the piano ever since Fintan left him... It hurt too much to do it. Even now, he was sleeping on the small couch. He stinked of alcohol, his hair had grown longer and there were a few bottles of beer on the table next to him. Good byes really weren't his thing.

Fintan sighed a small smile of relief as his dry feet touched the land. It was great to be back, even better since he could finally see Thomas again. He knew he had taken longer than he had promised, and he felt terrible about it. He hoped the other wasn't upset with him, and would forgive him. He also hoped, the other hadn't forgotten about him.

 

Arriving back at the house, knowing the way to it from the shore by heart, he smiled up at it. He saw the lights on inside, and Thomas' car in the driveway, so he was sure the male was home. He set the sea-made bag of herbs and what not down outside the front door, as it was rather large and heavy, enough supplies to last a while, so he wouldn't have to go back, hopefully. He stood at the door for a couple minutes, wondering if he should just walk in? He tested, seeing if it was open, and it was. Smiling, he stepped further into the house, though, his smile faltered a bit seeing it was rather messy, bottles laying about. "Thomas?" he called, wandering further before smiling seeing his sleeping form. He walked closer, kneeling beside the other and smiling at the form of his lover. He leaned forward, softly kissing the males lips, though wrinkling his nose in disgust at the stench. He ignored it, gently moving his long hair out of his face as he smiled softly down at his lover "I'm home, babe."

Thomas' eyes slowly opened at the soft kiss. His brain was playing tricks on him again, huh? But.. This felt so real. "Fin...?" He mumbled out with a hoarse voice. The brunet felt stinging in his eyes, so he just closed them. "Get away... I don't... You're not real." He whispered, though his lower lip had begun trembling. After realizing that the other wasn't disappearing like all those times before, he slowly sat up, knocking down some bottles on the way. "Oh my god..." He whispered out, his eyes wide and filled with tears as he stared at his boyfriend... On whom he cheated. Tears began rolling down his cheek, so he simply hid his face in his hands, his body trembling. "Don't look at me..." He whispered, his voice shaking. "I'm not... Not worth of you..." Thomas whispered out as his body shook from the tears. How could he do that? He'd promised he'd wait for Fintan... And he cheated... Their relationship would never be the same. He stinked, he got into debts, and his life was going downhill in general. He may have as well just died off.

Fintan smiled at his lover who slowly started to wake up, his hand on the brunettes cheek "Hey babe" he grinned, though it soon fell and he frowned a bit at how the other was acting "Thomas?" He spoke worriedly as he called the others name. The other instantly shelled away from him and curled up, sobbing apparently, by the tremors in the males body "Hey heyyy" he cooed getting up and sitting on the edge of the couch "What are you talking about babe? I'm the one who was late...really late, in fact. I'm sorry for making you wait for me for so long" He said as he wrapped his arms around the other, pulling him into his chest and hugging him tightly. God he missed the feeling of the others warmth, being so close to him. He ran his hands through the others hair, pulling his face up and wiping at his tears, drying his cheeks and kissed him again softly "Aren't you happy to see me? I thought my welcome home would be a little different than this..." He spoke jokingly, trying to tease and lighten the mood. What was wrong?

Thomas only shook his head, unable to say a word as he was hugged. He didn't deserve this... But he couldn't push Fintan away. He just couldn't. The brunet buried his face into the merman's chest, the tears not even close to stopping. He whimpered quietly, tightly holding onto the one he loved. He knew he couldn't live without telling him. If he said it out loud, maybe Fin would find it in his heart to forgive him... He couldn't take it without him knowing. "I'm sorry... I'm so sorry..." He whispered quietly, looking like absolute shit. If he didn't say it right now, it might be too late afterwards. More tears flowed down his cheeks as he closed his eyes, gripping onto his forehead. "Fin... Fin, I couldn't take it..." He whispered softly, looking pathetic. That truly was the only word he could be described in. "It was... O... Only one night, I swear!" He said in between the sobs that left his lips. He couldn't count how many times he'd said the same thing to the fake Fintans in his head. He was never forgiven there. Right now he was a compete wreck.

Fintan frowned when none of his teasing or joking around worked. Something must seriously have been terribly wrong. But what? The thought of Fintan cheating on him never ever even occurred to him. He just didn't think that Thomas was that type of guy to cheat. Especially with how paranoid Thomas had been about him being the one to do so. "Shhh, hey, hey calm down Thomas, everything's alright" he spoke trying to calm the other so he could understand him. All he kept doing was apologizing, saying he wasn't worthy. Just what had happened? When he started going on about how he couldn't take it, he grew more worried, a cold feeling starting in his chest. Until the other suddenly went on about something being only one night. He felt a terrible, cold sinking feeling, his heart falling into his stomach. "No....Thomas..." he muttered, looking at the other with broken eyes, as if asking the other if he was really saying the truth "Y-you're just really upset about something, Thomas...y-you don't even realize what you're saying you're distressed..." he stammered out with a shaky, fearful voice.

Thomas could only shake his head as a few sobs slipped out of his mouth. He really wouldn't be forgiven, would he? He was absolute shit. The brunet wanted to leave, but he didn't want to at the same time. He'd missed Fintan so much, but... He felt like he was stained now. He could never touch his precious boyfriend like he did before. The pianist gripped onto his hair with his long, elegant fingers as tears continued flowing down his cheeks. "I'm so sorry..." He continued whispering these words over and over, as if he was some broken CD. He couldn't even bring himself to look at his boyfriend... No, he didn't have the right to call Fintan his boyfriend anymore. Not after that... Even so, Thomas looked so guilty, ashamed and upset about it. It was clear he was definitely regretting that one night more than anything in his life. For sure, he would probably never forgive himself... This, not even Bella knew about.

Fintan bit his trembling lip as he looked at the other with fearful, begging eyes, as if the other was lying and just joking, that he would suddenly laugh and joke around. But it became clear to him that none of this was some joke or prank. And it crushed Fintan's stomach to the bottom of his stomach, tears welding up in his eyes as they soon overflowed in silent streams down his face, just looking at his boyfriend, his lover whom he had trusted, with completely broken, betrayed and disbelieving eyes. How could he? Fintan didn't have any words, he didn't know what to say, all he kept thinking was, how could he?

Thomas found the silence completely crushing. Unable to take it, he slowly stood up, his whole body shaking from the quiet sobs. "Don't look at me that way..." He begged silently, his gaze turned down at the floor before he began walking off. Fintan would leave him anyway. What point was there in staying together in one room where it hurt him? The fact alone that he still loved the merman the same as before crushed him more and more each second... Because he knew he wouldn't get the love back. "Just leave... You don't have to be here..." He whispered between quiet sobs. No matter how much he regretted it, the past couldn't be changed. And Fintan wouldn't forgive him.

Fintan watched the other as he moved to stand up, and Fintan turned his gaze away. He remained silent as the other moved a bit away from him, and then spoke about telling him could go. He felt his heart lurch again as his wet eyes darted back over to the other "Now you're telling me to leave?" he asked with a frown, finally finding his voice "Where do you expect me to go? You want me to go back to the sea?" he said with a slight glare. But it was true he didn't know what to do with himself "I belong here with you, Thomas. I love you, It's just...." he trailed off for the obvious of what he was going to say "What's even more ridiculous about it...other than the fact I honestly didn't see this coming, at all. Is you were the one accusing and paranoid with me before I had even left, about me cheating on you. And there you go behind my back and do it yourself" he scoffed, clear pain and anger mixed in his voice "What was it? Did I make you wait too long? I'm sorry I took longer, but the sea is a dangerous place" he said, it was then that there was actual notice of a lot of various recent cuts and scars across his body "Or are you secretly disgusted with the fact of having a merman as a boyfriend?"
