\\Kazu is a Math teacher spending his summer break in the rural town where he grew up in. Disheartened after a break-up from his former lover for 4 years; there he chose to spend his summer to get away by reliving his nostalgic memories as a child. While roaming around the town enjoying the view and meeting he used to be friends with, he reunited with Hiro at such circumstance and coincidence. Summer Heat.

夏の暑さ。

( "The humid is getting stronger by day in the summer. Walking along this street corner turning into a short cramped alley is my favorite way to get to almost every place of this rural town. The heat is enough to suffocate, yet, I'm stuck with this..." ). "UGHH!!", Hiro got punched and body slams on the wall. ( "As much as I like to avoid it..." ), "Uryaaaaaa!!", tries to punch Hiro but he swiftly evaded and escaped, locking the guy's arm. "You--!!", gets uppercut by Hiro and continues to fight off the rest of the gang. ( "...I rather hate it walking away without getting these idiots who insults me, cowardly ganging up on me... specially choosing this f*cking cramped place sure more way to just piss me off!!" ).

 

"UGHK!!", "TSSK!!", "KAAAAAAH!!", shouts and screams of the guys getting beaten by Hiro and vice versa. "HIRO YOU SON OF THE B*TICH..!!", got kicked in the stomach by Hiro and loudly thuds down in the concrete ground. "HAA...", Hiro breathes heavily while standing sluggishly upon the small gang on the ground. "You pricks better stop provoking me into fights if you know you're already gonna lose to begin with.", slowly stretches and dusts off clothes. "How troublesome geez~", feeling a little pain from his mouth and nose, twitching his face while looking at his wristwatch. "Well just look at that. I'm already late thanks to you guys! Wait, I better stop getting heated myself and getting into these annoying fights! GAH I HATE MYSELF!! I FEEL LIKE SH*T!", slumps his head on the wall feeling angry at himself.

 

Pauses and deeply sighs. Feeling the numbness and um-comfortableness of his face, he wipes off the blood from his lips, spits out blood and tries to blow his nose. He turns and slowly picks up the umbrella, lazily walks out the alley while using his shirt to wipe his sweat, "Ah...f*cking can't breathe!!". As he opens the umbrella, there was a man calling out his name but he didn't seem to notice before. But Hiro finally heard it since his hearing was blocked out from the fight. Confusingly wondering who was calling him, he slowly looked back and... a man in his 20's is standing at the entrance of the cramped alley.

Kazu was roaming the streets, he knew so well. Nothing really changed while he was gone; the old sweets shop, that he loved to visit when he was a small kid, still abandoned and covered in posters...the crack in the sidewalk, still there, making it dangerous to trip...everything was still the same, like him. All ends with begginings was the thought, that suddenly crossed his mind, and in that moment, he wished he could be lika a phoenix, reborn, with a fresh beggining. That was also the purpuse of him coming back; getting a little break from everything and then starting over.

 

His self-indulging was interupted by someone screaming and he rushed to see what was happening. He paused at the entrance of the alley, deciding if he should call the police, to break up the fight or not. But something stopped him. The boy who was beating shit out of everybody was vaguely familiar. It can't be..Hiro? he thought, but realized that it has to be. He called his name, but the boy didn't reply. Can I be wrong? Maybe it's someone else.. But Kazu called his name again, quite certain that it is the same boy, from his childhood. He forgot about the rain and the umbrella he was holding, dropping it on the floor, starting to walk towards the boy and calling his name one more time. "Hiro!" This time, the boy turned and Kazu recognized him for sure now. He ran towards him, smile on his face, not noticing he was getting soaked by the rain.

Hiro was dumbfounded that he almost drop the umbrella but he still managed to get a hold of it to shield themselves from the pouring rain. It happened so fast that he doesn't really know what to do with the man who has a big smile on his face that is soaking wet and is now up close, in front of him. "Who...are you?", he confusingly asked. Though as he asked that, he felt somehow he's familiar with the man but he's just avoiding to think that he's really that guy he's thinking about. He'd hope it's a different person from the person he had in mind. He tightens his grip on the umbrella getting ready but still trembling for the man's reply... ( "It can't be him...can't he? " )

"Hiro? You don't remeber me?" Kazu said, feeling a little hurt. But he couldn't really expect that the younger boy would remember him, after all this time right? "I'm Kazu" he told him, with a sad smile, still on his face. He was really disappointed that Hiro didn't recognize him; he cared a lot about him, back then. Am I really that easy to forget? He felt like his throat is thightening, so he coughed, in hopes of clearing it. He didn't know what to do, to clear this awkward situation up. It would probably be best, to do some small talk. "So how have you been Hiro? I see you are all grown up now." When did they turned like that? They used to be so comfortable with each other. But they really didn't see each other in a long time, Hiro probably changed a lot since then. Him beating all those guys, was proof enough, since he used to be so helpless and it was up to Kazu, to protect him. What happened to that boy? Kazu wondered.

As soon as he heard the name Kazu, Hiro couldn't feel but more nervous. ("OH F*CK!! "), he exclaimed from his mind while still staying silent and keeping cool on the exterior. His heart was raising from that point on and just want to escape feeling caught doing something un-character like from what Kazu remembered him to be but actually that's his true personality ever since. Hiro pretended to be all cute, helpless and shy 'cause he thinks that's the only way in order to get Kazu stay with him. He just manipulated Kazu at such age just to keep him to himself not really thinking he'll be back in the future like this; he feel terrible and such a douchebag for fooling Kazu like that. He has been feeling guilty for fooling Kazu. He just doesn't know how to express it and eventually hid this somewhere in his heart until now. But, karma is a b*tch.

 

As Kazu made small talk, Hiro couldn't really say anything and is on the verge of breaking down. Looking at Kazu's worried and sad face, ("I'M SORRY, KAZU!! "). Though feeling dizzy from all the emotions built all at once and eyes a little blurry from the welling up tears; he turned around and started to run still holding the umbrella. Stupidly holding it still while running, he can't really run that fast and eventually, "AH SH--!! ", slipped and flopped on the ground just 5 meters away from Kazu. It was so sudden that he feel more humiliated, he finally cried while getting soaked on the rain, "I'm so lame...".

 

His hip ache a little from the impact of the fall while he slowly tries to stand up, ("Ah I give up...I'm found out. I'm really stupid. He knows I'm different now. He'll probably hate me."), seemingly getting the wrong idea since Kazu thinks something has happened to Hiro that's why he's now opposite of how he used to be and now worried about him. While Hiro thinks Kazu has found out his true personality and feel all guilty about fooling him in order just to keep him for himself.

Kazu was so surprised, he couldn't even move for a few moments. Hiro ran away from me? Why? Is he angry at me for leaving so suddenly back then? He wanted to say goodbye that time, but it was just too damn hard; that's why he just left. He figured the younger boy will forget about him soon enough.

He took a hesitant step forward, to go help the boy. But should he? Hiro did run away from him, so maybe he wanted to be just left alone. He was really worried now. The younger boy was always so gentle and helpless. What happened to him that he turned out like this? Beating others.. Kazu still couldn't quite belive that he actually saw him doing that. He decided he will help the boy even if he doesn't want his help, when he saw him crying. He ran towards him, kneeling beside him, pulling him into a hug. "Hiro! Please don't cry. Did you hurt yourself when you fell? Or when those guys attacked you? Come on, let's get you cleaned up." He tried pulling the other boy up, but he didn't want to cooperate, so they just both ended on the floor again.

Kazu's warmth from the hug made Hiro at ease whilst the coldness of the rain. From the momentary pause, he suddenly realized and looked up to Kazu's face. He also finally felt the cold from the rain and gets him shivers. He's now back to his senses. He tries to get up even though his hip is holding him back to get up fast enough and he remembered some of Kazu's questions. "OH YEAH. They were bunch of arse who tried to gang up on me. And nah, I'm okay! It happens all the time! I don't know where these idiots come from and just shows up thinking of beating me. HAH!! ", he casually answered. "Ah damn! it's really cold! ", while exaggeratedly hugging himself. The sudden switch between crying to amnesiac Hiro confuses Kazu. It's like he just forgot what happened and changed into someone he saw before.

 

"Thanks for making me feel better, Kazu!! It's really been a while! Haha! It really sucks we reunited like this.", he slowly bend over to gets his dirtied umbrella on the ground, shakes to make the rubble and mud off; shield themselves again from the rain even though they're already soaking wet to begin with. "You look like sh*t, Kazu. Where are you staying anyway, is it near? My house is really far and I'm late for my summer job anyway so I'll just call them for a sick leave. Is it alright if I crash in your house? I don't wanna go home letting my family know I skipped work.", he casually talked again with a straight face as if nothing happened seemingly he's being pushy and bossy.

 

He's waiting for Kazu's reply standing still while Kazu's still on the ground. "I'll tell you all later once we get to your place, alright? I'm still wondering why you came here anyway so might as well chat and catch up once were there.". This Hiro now really confuses Kazu even more. What's happened? He still yet to know. Hiro acted the way he is now 'cause he decided it's no use hiding his true self anymore to Kazu. He can't just be direct and honest with him and he knows it that's why he had his panic attack before in order to be calm.

Wow, what's happening? Kazu thought to himself. He was more and more confused, not seeing any part of the old Hiro in this boy. Could someone really change that much? He didn't know anything any more. He was really happy at first, seeing him again, but this person was a total stranger to him. Maybe he has a dual personality? he thought, then dissmised that idea as totally stupid. He's just grown up now, he can't expect him to be that cute, innocent boy from his past.

 

He stands up and musters up a kind smile, deciding he wants to get to know this "new" Hiro more. "Well my house is near yes, we can go there. But I'm only chrashing at my cousins place. He rented me the little place in the attic, so if you don't mind that it's really cramped..?" he asked the younger boy a little uncomfortably. He didn't want him to see how low he's fallen. His life is one big mess right now and that little apartement showed that perfectly. Oh well, it seemed they both changed in those few years, so maybe Hiro won't notice anything strange. "But you really need a change of clothes and we need to figure if you are injured! Can you walk?" he asked, adding "Oh and you can of course call your job and your parents from my place, you can't go to work like this." He takes the umbrella from the younger boy, offering to support him.

"Really?! Awesome! ", Hiro shouted with joy. "Don't worry, I don't mind! ", he added. "This is nothing, Kazu. Sorry for worrying ya.", he smiled awkwardly as he walk along with Kazu side by side. ("Ah sh*t I don't really know what to do when I'm near him. Ah~ it's been ten years and he's been so handsome, damn! I want to hold his hand--gasps-- Argh! Quit it, me! You've been a total idiot since you met him. Keep calm, damn it! Are you like some kind of middle schooler?! "), as he squeal and fight himself in his head while face palming on the exterior as the rain seems haven't stopped and it even gets more stronger.

 

As Hiro looked Kazu without him noticing, ("Kazu seems out of it. Though he's like that in the past, it's like he's more out of this time with his eyes more...far away. I wonder what happened? Heck, coming back here for all these years is really unexpected. Did something happened? I don't really know...I hope I can help him somehow."), he thought. They walked in a total silent without exchanging words from each other. Hiro feels like he's been making Kazu uncomfortable since their meeting, more adding to his guilt trip. Shortly after a few minutes of walk, they finally arrived at Kazu's place where he's staying. "Woah! It's even bigger than ours! ", he excitedly remarked. Though the furnish seems unfinished, Hiro thought it's awesome since his family only has plank of woods as a house. "Sorry for intrusion~", as they enter the house. "Where's your cousin? ", he asked while looking around the room.

 

"F*ck! The floor--! ", he panicked and started to undress all his clothes leaving boxer shorts on revealing his skinny body. "Achoo--!!", shivering while his clothes are on his arms. Hiro's slow-wittiness just overpower having they're still near the entrance of the house. Suddenly, his phone rings. Hiro got startled and tries to find it under his soaking wet clothes. Luckily it was water proof even though it was a cheap brand of phone. "Osu~ Sorry I'm feeling terrible right now...", talking like his nose pinched from the clogged nose. "Can I rest for today? ...Oh? Well OK. Thanks, boss~", followed up coughing and hangs up. "Well ain't I lucky. Boss cancelled today's work 'cause there's a typhoon coming.", and he sighed. "I'll call my parents later. For now, I'm shivering! ". He seems comfortable now being himself with Kazu after all that happened. Though he's now curious and wonder what happened to him?

Kazu kind of flows away, remembering how he first met Hiro, all the things they did together, how crazily he missed him after he left..and then of course came the memories of that woman. Luckily, they arrived at his temporary home then, interrupting his course of thought. He was happy about that. Dwelling in the past won't make him move on. And those memories only brought him pain, nothing else. Even remembering about Hiro, hurt. Maybe if I didn't leave that time, he wouldn't turn out like this. If I would be there for him, maybe he would still be that sweet kid from back then. But who was he fooling? People change; him staying, probably wouldn't made much of a difference.

 

He answered Hiro's question. "Oh my cousin lives under. He rents out this apartement, usually." He looked around, seeing it was quite messed. He didn't wash the dishes in the morning and the apartement was in a dear need of dusting. He felt a little embarrassed, not wanting Hiro thinking badly of him. But now he had more pressing matters to attend too, Hiro needs a change of clothes and bandages too, probably.

 

When he turned around, to show him where the bathroom is, he found himself looking at an almost naked Hiro! Kazu didn't really know how to react to the sight before him and he blushed wildly. Fortunately the boy's phone rang, so he could take a moment to compose himself. "Erm..why don't we find you some clothes now? And you can take a shower if you want" Kazu offered him after he finished with his phone call, feeling relieved that he can busy himself with something. "And you mentioned that thypoon is coming? Maybe you should tell your parents you'll chrash here. I don't think it's safe to walk around in that kind of weather." He would actually be happy of any kind of distraction, so he wouldn't have to think about his life.
