Dragonriders (Possible Group RP)

I shared this idea and was urged to post it (not like I don't have enough RP's on my plate)

The idea goes a little something like this: The characters are Dragon Riders (i.e they ride dragons) the "twist" being that the Dragons are shape shifters, so that they at least do turn into "people" that you can interact with and Dragons you can ride. - This means you will write TWO characters.

The Plot - Adventurous Quest for a Mythical Object and Have Lots of Sex Along the Way... (or something - if you can come up with someone "better" then I'm all ears!)

Read the rules:

Please Register/ Sign In, in order to see the links.

If you think you can convince me to bend one of my rules in your favour, again, I'm all ears.

What I Want From You - if you haven't RP'd with me before then you need to know that I don't do character sheets, I do "auditions". You will write an example of your character(s); most people end up writing a backstory (which you can repost as your first post if that helps you). Backstories are just like character sheets, but in my opinion _better_.

If you don't wish to write an "audition" - talk with me and we will work something out.

I hereby declare this recruitment thread open for business.

*winks*

You'll all have to "audition" for me, just so that I can see these characters. Remember, you'll need your character and your dragon. If you want pictures, you can add pictures I'm not fussed.

Hello. I would be joining as well after asking Squeeze. :)

Let's get along, ne? :D

Well that is my little text. I actually tried to write it differently then usual but....i actually wanted to write more (like the whole history of both) but that would have gotten to out of hand. So i just stayed with that. Hope it's okay and it's enough to explain my charachters at least a bit. :)

(sadly i couldn't get the picture smaller and i was to lazy to edit it and upload it back up and stuff. :p)

Among the earth crystal covered earth laid a beautiful and elegant black coloured dragon. Its body as well as his wings carrying the marks of the guardian. Tyrath was the beast’s name. He was the guardian of the eastern mountains, having been elected by the mere humans. The marks binding him to the earth’s life, marking him as a dragon of the origin. The crystals that grew in the mountains lava weren’t of much worth like a diamond might be, but they are the trademark selling point of the Kazan village. They were used in accessories, weapons, tableware and whatever else there is. Only the villagers know the true reason of the earth crystals, it was the earth’s power sealed inside them. They were known for harbouring little to no magic. The bigger they are the more earth magic they produced. The crystals were like batteries, but there weren’t an infinite bunch and the large dragon protecting the main growing grounds was as good as any reason to not venture into the mountains to get them. Tyrath hasn’t chosen this life, if it wasn’t for his companion Hotaru. The young lad had been with Tyrath as long as the boy can remember. Both of them started as master and servant since the village people had originally send the brunette to serve the earth Dragon. But Tyrath was above such things and accepted Hotaru as a friend, nothing less. Because of little Hotaru at that time, Tyrath was reluctant to go, so he stayed. But time changed everyone and Hotaru grew into a remarkable man, able to fight for himself and for those he wants to protect. Of course, the shape shifting Dragon was the sole reason to why Hotaru learned the way of the sword. Tyrath just couldn’t see his friend get hurt. They weren’t dragon or human, they weren’t servant or master they were merely friends, a family to say the least. So it wasn’t a big surprise that the shape shifter followed his little companion on the journey. The journey to where you might ask? Well, both of them didn’t know but soon they lives would revolve around more than just themselves.

The Dragon (Shaegon)

DNAngel-Krad.jpg (Human form)

river_by_sandara-d4oadbr.jpg (Dragon form)

The human (Reishi)

shion_sion.jpg

Shaegon watches as Reishi practices with the toy sword he'd made for the little boy with a bemused expression flickering across the golden face as the human is clearly overjoyed with his simple present. Never before has the old river guardian met such an innocent and easily pleased human before. At least, not since humans first stumbled across his home in the upper mountains where the river he watches over flows from the spring and snow fed lake. He is the reason the phrase 'The river flows golden' came to be though few remember him anymore. Not that he minds. Life had gotten quieter as his existence faded from human memory which meant fewer humans tried to kill him or steal his supposed treasure. Honestly, he couldn't understand why humans would try to buy his favor or power by giving him their gems, gold and such and then try to forcibly take it back. Every now and then an odd human will wander on up to his home to see if the old stories are true, but he's usually either off checking his river or getting food if he's lucky. If not he stays out of sight so they'll leave. Reishi is an exception as he rescued the boy when he fell into his lake. When asked the boy said he had no family or home because the villagers chased him away due to his coloring. Reishi then asked if Shaegon was a real dragon and if so why he wasn't with other dragons, why was he all gold colored and a million other questions. The boys genuine curiosity and lack of fear surprised the dragon but made him decide to keep and raise the boy so he'll grow up safely and well before he wanders off on his own. Hopefully before the next uprising occurs or whatever the humans call it when the world goes askew.

Ok, just waiting for a few more auditions.

I'm going to write up a world overview for everyone; it shouldn't affect what most of you have already written, and like everything will be up for debate/discussion, but I'm hoping that it will possibly add some more depth to the possible story line (or something).

The next one had been born, a few short hour after the last perished and Ghnarlan still had no wish to seek out the mortal with whom he was bound. Gliding down on his wings he circled the clearing before settling down into the lush green grass with surprising stealth for his large size. The sun was shining down glimmering off his scales and he curled up at the edge of the pale blue water, his tail swinging round and into the pool submerging itself in the cool liquid. Usually the humans didn't notice the bond and it would never grow stronger until they met, so he planned to simply avoid humans as he had for many years, happily not being involved in the conflict of man which had claimed a multitude of human lives along with the lives of some dragons.

-------

The air filled with the excited shrieks of children who were allowed out to play in the first warm days of summer, playing in the small stream that ran through the edge of the village. Shaun was different, slightly older now it would be though strange for him to be shrieking and running around with as much energy, instead he snuck off to a pool he had found many years ago near the edge of the forest. They had been told to never go there and one day Shaun had become angry and found himself there moping as a large shadow flew above him. Scrambling to hide he watched as a magnificent Silver grey dragon landed by the waters edge. Too fascinated to move he sat in wonder until the dragon had flown off and even a little after.

Since that moment he went to the waters edge every chance he could hoping to see the dragon, each time wondering if he should go closer, and occasionally finding a hiding place a little closer. Constantly wondering why he was so interested in the dragon. Until one day the dragon wasn't already there and no matter how long he waited. Disheartened he got up and wandered over to the space the dragon usually occupied and looked around, not noticing the tall man with short silver hair stood behind him with his arms crossed until the deep voice spoke behind him.*

"Mortal! What is it you are doing here? Why have you been watching?" Watching the man who must only just be into his 20's stammer out an answer Ghnarlan raised an eyebrow. "Watching the dragon? Boy what is your name?" The quiet answer struck a chord deep inside and the bond which he thought he could ignore flared into full strength as he sighed realising he could no longer leave the bond alone and that this scrawny, flame haired child was his partner until the end of his mortal life.

is joining in too, and sends apologies for being MIA until the end of the month.

I will post some "World Rules" shortly (in a few days at least, whilst everyone sorts themselves out). The "world" might be a little different to what you've auditioned with, but i'm sure you're all adaptable, not to mention that the "world" is up for suggestions and feedback and input and all that jazz.

White, monochromic swirls of cold surrounded him. Arms, legs and body trapped in wrappings that had no meaning. Screams died on the wind to be nothing more than whispers with his muffled hearing. Eyes seeing, blinking at nothing, shapes tried to take form, but in the end was nothing but cloudy forms of paleness.

Pale gray eyes blinked opened to meet those of solid black as the creature before him chuckled deeply. He hadn’t the energy to play the games of his companion, that same dream of odd nothing was back. The creature lifted his massive head up and looked over the vast wilderness of nothing. He walked to the cave entrance, wrapping his arms around his him as he tried to rub warmth in them.

“Anything?” he inquired. The beast turned his head down towards him and another low rumble echoed in the small cave.

“I sense nothing,” the beast replied, his voice grating in the small confines of the cave.

“Rafiga sensed something, she wouldn’t react otherwise.”

Massive bleached wings opened around him before they folded back towards their owner, “the Baron will not be pleased with failure.”

“Of that I know better than you, Vol,” the male replied as he went and pulled on a thick white coat, and cloak. The beast lowered his body as he mounted on the other’s back. He hooked his legs to the straps and took hold on the leather rope before the beast walked out into the open air. All at once the wind whipped around him, forcing him to pull the scarf up over his face, leaving his pale gray eyes out in the open. The beast opened his massive wings and started to beat them hard and heavy as he slowly started to lift into the sky.

The land below them was nothing but barren emptiness of snow and ice. It was always cold, thanks to the white dragons, and the Baron. The Baron controlled these lands, as lawless as these lands were; the people feared the Baron and those that served him.

Vol lowered himself to land. The pack of gnolls before them served under the Baron much as he and Vol did. They guarded the castle from any psychical outside force, though they had never been needed as he knew. They looked more like wild hyenas, mangy and unclean than a trained army. The leader of this pack growled at them as they landed. Vol simply chuckled at them showing his massive and sharp teeth to them.

“Did Jsyriia find it?” the leader snarled.

He lowered the scarf and shook his head. “Rafiga didn’t react again,” he replied. He and Vol walked past the pack. Vol shifted as they approached the bridge that connected the land to the castle. The beast was quiet a handsome person if pale. Walking into the palace the temperature warmed. Jysriia made his way towards the throne room where the Baron was, he was always in the throne room.

“Empty handed?” the Baron’s low voice was colder than the ice outside. The man turned, his dark hair flowing over his shoulders as he leaned back against the window sill bench. “It matters not this time; there is rumor of an object, a very old, a very powerful object. You will go and acquire it for me,” he produced a small leather bound book and pen. “You will keep in contact with me through this; the land is too far for the ring to work. I have even attained a map for you.” The Baron waited for him to take the floating book and map. He handed the map to Vol as the creature looked it over. “Jysriia,” the Baron turned back towards the window. “Do not disappoint me again.”

“By your command,” he replied and he and Vol left the throne as quickly as possible.

The World

Think Fantasy, and think Big - Days and Days worth of travelling even on huge dragon thingies that can fly. The two main things to remember are; you write for yourself, and you write for you Dragon. There was a question asked earlier in the piece if it meant that you didn't ride your own Dragon; that is entirely up to you if you wish to ride your own Dragon, or you want to talk to someone about riding theirs, be aware that this will require you to split your post up into two different segments; if you are willing to go ahead and do that, I don't have a problem with it.

You will have some sort of bond/connection with your dragon, and that can be whatever you want it to be, however you want it to be, but you will have one. Some people may express a concern about having your duo overpowered as a result, my argument in this case is that you can't, because whatever far-out fantastical thing you can come up with, I can come up with a bad guy that will eat you and shit you out for breakfast, so don't be afraid to explore your options. You will post them here, and your peers will vote on them, if they think they can work with it, then it will be fine.

There will be a quest/adventure for some mythical object I have yet to come up with. This too will be far-out and fantastical and obviously worth teaming up with everyone (or fighting with everyone) to go and get.

Don't forget that your Dragon can shapeshift. If you want it to be exclusively human, then this is fine, if you want it to be other things, this is also fine, as long as you specify exactly what it is that your dragon will be doing. I may go so far as to request that everyone writes up a "quick guide" to their dragon's powers so that people can come back and reference it when they go to write their posts.

this then leads to:

Rules

You will write for you and your Dragon, however that turns out for you.

Everyone has a week to post, if you don't post, you will be skipped, and it will be up to you to catch up/slot in where you can. Having said that, whoever's go it is, if you have an interaction with the skipped person, you WILL write an opening for them to come back into (this goes for everyone). If you have questions/discussion about this, this is the thread for it (or you can PM me)

You will not be dropped unless you "cock-up" - A "cock-up" is god-modding, or writing stuff that has zero relevance to the things happening around you. If you cannot legitimately explain why you wrote what you did to the satisfaction to the other participants then this will count as a "cock-up". You will get three of these before you get booted.

We are big people/adults, which is why I run my RP's the way I do, because I am confident that we can work through whatever niggles happen along the way and that we are able to discuss what's going on.

This leads me to the next biggest and most important thing.

I expect Discussion.

I want thoughts, ideas, potential interactions. I don't want this to fall into silence except for the RP bit. This is how "cock-ups" happen. Questions are always welcome, remember: There are no stupid questions except for the ones you don't ask.

Enjoy! ^.^

Oh, and whilst I'm thinking about it;

Every character MUST have a flaw.

So there.

First off - I have a couple of 'flaws' as for my character - I am copying the character sheet still and if the need arises I can get one for my dragon as well. (will more than likely be working on that here soon)

also for the big bad ass bad guy, if the feeling that we are over powered, just have him have a pet Tarrasque, a horde of dragons cant kill one, and a group of four or five with rides have no chance - the only way to 'kill' one, is to have a HIGH level wizard - which alone is very unlikely - have them have the WISH or MIRACLE - spell - again very highly unlikely - an army of high level fighters, among other classes, get the things hp to zero and then cast the WISH spell and as the God or Goddess to put the thing to sleep before it regains hp - not to mention the thing as a natural AC of 35 and thats with a -8 to its colossal size, its attacks are at bite at +57 attack 4d8+17 points of damage 2 horns at +52 attack 1d10+8 points damage 2 claws at +52 attack 1d12+8 points damage and a tail slap at +52 attack and 3d8+8 points damage

not just that but it can swallow whole anything huge or smaller by making a successful grapple check. Once inside, the opponent takes 2d8+8 points of crushing damage plus 2d8+6 points of acid damage per round from the tarrasque’s digestive juices. A swallowed creature can cut its way out by dealing 50 points of damage to the tarrasque’s digestive tract (AC 25). Once the creature exits, muscular action closes the hole; another swallowed opponent must cut its own way out. The tarrasque’s gullet can hold 2 Huge, 8 Large, 32 Medium, 128 Small, or 512 Tiny or smaller creatures.

With that the beast also regenerates

so yeah....

ideas?

Sorry for the wait. Managed to waste time doing nothing at all. So here goes:

The adrenaline ringing in his ears, the thunder booming from among dark clouds, the waves crashing against the rocks; all the sounds of nature – all that was around him – was completely snuffed out as soon as he dived into the wild sea. There was only darkness and silence. And his adapted body carried him, several feet below the surface of the water, further and further away from the island. It was not until hours later that they would discover his empty cell; yet, he continued to swim as fast as he could, increasing the distance between himself and the island. He would not stop until his body was worn out and his muscles atrophied, or the head start that he had bought himself would go to waste just like the years that he had spent behind bars on that island.

Minutes passed before his pale face broke the stormy surface of the water. And at once he gasped for air, and with his tired arms and legs, battled against the raging sea in freestyle strokes – one arm after another, legs paddling as fast as they could manage. The waves seized him by his chest and tossed him this way and that without any care for his tiny existence; yet he persisted. The island continued to shrink smaller and smaller behind him, sleeping in its ignorance of the escape; but he did not turn to look, not even catch a glimpse. Water stretched all around him, water fell from above his head. There was only water. Not a sign of anything else in the vicinity. He continued to swim, his breaths beginning to labour, his muscles stretching to their maximum, his body dehydrating. And only after hours since his dive, he stopped in his drift. The merciless sea continued raging, the angry storm screaming. His feeble body was starting to give in to the fatigue, and he knew that it was time. Mustering all the strength that he had left in him, he shouted at the top of his lungs,

“Grimwulf!”

His voice was barely heard, drowned under the roaring of the thunder and the crashing of the waves, but he knew he was heard and the inevitable arrival of the one known as Grimwulf would take his misery away from him – at least temporarily. Until then, he would have to stay alive in the inhabitable middle of nowhere.

Before long the familiar sensation brushing against his feet told him of the expectation; the cold scales swept against his legs, soundlessly rattling the broken shackles around his ankles, and all at once his weight was carried on its majestic back and his body slumped forward from exhaustion.

“Arenith,” said the being.

“Take me to Lazarus,” commanded he.

There was a moment of silence between the two; in the background, nature continued with its outburst.

“Lazarus is dead,” came the silent reply.

The blood in his veins froze all at once, and the lump in his throat threatened to suffocate him.

Question: How are we all at the same place before embarking on the treasure hunt? I suppose we'll all have to know each other first or do we begin from getting to know each other and all?

Also, I don't play D&D, so I have no idea what

's put up '_' like, completely don't understand it...sorry about that...And kinda shit at coming up with skills and all, but will work on it. Well mainly, Grimwulf is a water dragon so it can't do combat as a dragon on land.

you are not alone in this one. Though i play many games i am not really knowlegdeable in those aspects i am mostly playing games for the story but i do know some basic stuffs but...i will totally fail if i should put up something like wolfenone. I can put up some skills but i will be lacking in the stats department. O.o It's easy to come up with skills for an earth creature....so yeah.

dont worry about what I posted really, I honestly hate character sheets and well those took me like forever -

told me to get rid of the D rolls as we would not be using them, so I still have editing to do of what everything means skill and likewise -

Honestly though stats are the easy part. Got a six sided die? roll it four times for each of the six stats and take the highest three rolls for each stat and add them together, - thats me teaching, dont really have to do it though -

I did mess up on the dragon by the way, they dont get character levels, so what I will do is repost his dragon form and then his human fighter form.

and yes I will detail what my feats and crap are - *sighs* which since its two more character sheets dont expect them right away :(

Don't worry about the D&D sheets guys, some of us do "real" role playing; so when someone says "character sheet" that's the first thing we think of (another reason why I don't like doing them, they're not "real" character sheets ;) ).

You do NOT have to do your dragon flaws/skills up like that at all. You just need to write a thing and a brief description of the thing and it will be fine. ^.^

Thread is up.

Think of it as an "intro" post - If you have any questions, I shall do my best to answer them here.

There is no posting order except for me going last.
