Before walking up to Haines Daeniz flashed Jyden a smile, "Just follow my lead with the dancing and it will all be fine. As for first born business... well I'll explain during practice tomorrow..."

Haines was surrounded by a flurry of activity as everyone went up to great him, all trying to curry favour with the king's closest advisor. When they saw the two princes approaching the parted to form a human corridor up to the second prince who looked down on the two with obvious disdain. His features were vastly different to the rest of the brothers, with hair dark as night slicked close to his head and cut short at the nape.

"Well... I see you are already eating..." Pulling a fake and disdainful smile Haines set Daeniz on edge. "Not much else a warrior can do in a time of peace I guess." His laugh was a horrible, nasely laugh and Daeniz cringe when he heard it.

"Brother... It was good of you to attend." Daeniz was talking through gritted teeth, he didn't like Haines anyway and it didn't help that Haines had been a part of the plan to cause Jyden to make a fool of himself.

Haines didn't even bother replying before turning away and back to the courtiers, not even fully looking at Jyden who had been by Daeniz's side. "You'll have to forgive my arsehole of a brother who is so self absobed he doesn't understand manners." He whispered to the other prince.

Jyden smirked at Daeniz, “lead away,” he whispered back. They walked through the people and Jyden was set off in solider mode nearly at once. The man disgusted him at once. When Haines talked the hairs on the back of his neck stood up on end, and when he laughed he wanted to slit that throat. Jyden watched him and then took Daeniz’s arm and turned around, he walked away from the courtiers.

He let the loose grip go on Daeniz’s arm; he stood and turned his attention to Haines. “Nothing to forgive, you get to deal with Jason, he’s eleven and a brat, the Queen’s baby boy, gets whatever he wants, someone like this,” he made a small gesture to Haines, “is just another pain in the ass, they don’t understand, no one in the courts will understand, they don’t spend months with people who watch over each other and then die beside you, they don’t know what it’s like to survive on…” Jyden shook his head. He looked at Daeniz his face had gone hard, and his eyes cold, before he relaxed again, his muscles untightening and his stance becoming more relaxed.

“About this dance so we can leave sooner,” he bowed his head to Daeniz. “Why do we have to dance again?”

“Because you’re bad at it sire,” Egan said, Jyden lifted a brow as Egan bowed to them both, he was dressed in formal wear as well if a bit more blue than Jyden’s. “Greg and Hail are outside, only nobles are allowed in I guess,” he bowed lower to Daeniz and then opened his hand to a woman who was dressed in an elegant peacock blue dress and green shawl, her brown hair was done in curls that sat lightly pinned to her head. “Lady Isabelle Maldranna,” he introduced. She dipped her legs in a curtsy to them.

“Sires,” she spoke lightly. “Enjoy the dance.”

Egan bowed shallowly again to them, chuckled a few times and backed away, the woman on his arm. Jyden looked at Daeniz. “I really- what do I do?”

Dusutii : Daeniz watched Egan dance away with the Lady Isabelle, he was certain he'd seen her before, but as he rarely attended these events it was easy for him to forget faces. Ah never mind, it was unlikely that she was against them considering she had helped a Rethallen guard into the event.

With a laugh he turned to Jyden, "If I didn't know any better i'd say that guard of yours is almost as much of a lady killer as Zaiden is." He nodded to a couple of courtiers who passed behind Jyden, before pulling the other close to him with one arm wrapped around his waist. Holding the man very close for a few moments he felt the warmth and solidness of the other's body and felt what he was about to say would be slightly ironic.

"Pardon me..." He whispered close to the others ear. "I can lead but I only know the male part of dancing, therefore you'll have to take the womans role." Smirking as the slow music began he moved one of Jyden's arms round his shoulder and then clasped the free hand. Keeping his arm tight around the others waist he began to lead them dancing across the dance floor nearer to the open veranda doors.

Wolfenone : Jyden watched Egan leave and then turned to Daeniz. He chuckled lightly. “Egan is also a second son, his father sent him to the palace guard when he was four so he wouldn’t challenge his brother for the title,” he grinned a little more and shrugged a shoulder. “Most of the palace guards are second sons of family, rarely do first born go into the guar-“

He was pulled against Daeniz and he lifted a brow at him, he looked to the arm and then to Daeniz. “I guess I don’t have a choice, I am starting to not have choices for a lot of things,” he said again. His arm was placed over the other’s shoulder, and he moved closer. His hand was clasped to the other and they started to move, he closed his eyes for a second as his feet started to get in the way.

He got his feet sorted quickly. “Have I told you I hate dancing?” he asked as they moved. His eyes lowered to Daeniz, he leaned forward. “I want to…” he trailed off and looked at him. Through the dance he didn’t mess his feet up, his attention on the archer before him. The music slowing and coming to an end, his feet stopped moving when the music stopped.

Jyden moved his arm away from him; he grabbed the other’s arm gently as he walked outside. He placed his hands on the railing and bowed his head. He turned around and leaned against the rail looking towards the celebration. He shook his head, “I want to leave this celebration,” he turned to Daeniz and stepped closer to him. “Do you have any idea the different muscles that move when you dance?” he whispered. “Archer…” he looked at Daeniz, his eyes looking over the other and then landed back on his green eyes.

Daeniz laughed lightly as Jyden informed him of his hate for dancing responding quietly. "Personally I rather like dancing, its just people I don't like dancing with usually." He tilted his head back slightly straining to hear what the other was saying. "You want to? what?" When the music stopped and he felt the gentle touch on his arm leading him to the open air he smiled, leaning against the railings with one arm and watching Jyden.

"Well.... we really should hang around a little longer, it is now the time that others will come up and speak to us... or the point tat they should anyway.." He murmured as he glanced into the hall, seeing the crowds of people uncertain as what to do. They could almost be separated into three clear groups from the way they stood around the hall, almost all glancing over to where the two princes were stood. Off to one side were people happily chatting away, they didn't even fell any need to walk up to their Prince and Daeniz did not need to talk to them to know where their loyalties lie. One of them caught his gaze and nodded in acknowledgement. This was his group of supporters, Generals who knew his ability of the battle field and those that detested the war.

On almost the opposiste side of the hall were those who didn't like Daeniz and were crowding around his brother Haines, the man cultivated a hatred of Daeniz among his followers and it was easy to see iin the looks on their faces. Somewhere in the middle between the two groups were those with no affiliation to either side, they were nervous, glancing over and unsure of what to do. These were the people he wasn't sure about, that he really needed to speak to to find out what they would and wouldn't do, however the moment he looked back to Jyden his need to speak to them was overwhelmed.

Jyden was closer to him now, the whisper enticing. "If you look at me like that... I will be inclined to think you want to relocate to my private rooms. Now assuming I'm not wrong you can head there now and I will make excuses for us... and when we are back maybe you can show me the different muscles that move during dancing."

Jyden’s lips twitched up slightly as Daeniz spoke. “You tempt me in more ways than just one Archer,” he replied low, his eyes lingering on some of the different areas of the body before they moved out to the crowds of people. He didn’t need anyone to tell him what the groups were like, or who was with who. He watched as Egan was talking with a group that didn’t seem to need to go anywhere near them, the woman still on his arm, and her face just as bright. His eyes shifted to Haines and the group that was around him.

He ignored him as he turned back to Daeniz. “No more war,” he said, “it’s still odd,” he shook his head at that and shifted a little closer to Daeniz. “As for the showing you, I think I can manage that-“ movement caught his attention from inside the room. He turned towards the ball room, his hand went to his side for his dagger darts, but he wasn’t wearing them, he dropped his hand as his eyes scanned the room again. More than likely a piece of jewelry, or Daeniz older brother caught his attention.

He nodded his head towards Egan, who had escorted his lady for the night to Zaiden, and was currently talking with Haines in low whispers, as one of his hands took hold of the other man’s. Jyden placed his arms back on the railing and leaned back as he watched Egan talk to Daeniz’s older brother. What was actually being said he didn’t have a clue, the woman also didn’t seem to mind as she started to chat away with the other two on the twin.

He looked back to Daeniz for a moment and then back towards Egan.

The guard hand one hand clasped with the other and his other hand was on the small of the male’s back. He was leaning in and whispering to the man. Then Egan started to slowly back away from him and walk back towards his date.

Jyden lifted a brow and looked to the older brother for a second before his hand wrapped around Daeniz’s arm gently. He leaned closer and whispered against the other’s ear. “We can leave whenever you are ready Archer, I believe the time here could be better spent.”

Daeniz didn't miss Egan's exchange with Haines, the slippery man causing disgust even from this distance. Closing his eyes and breathing deeply against Jyden's shoulder. Humming for a moment before he spoke. "Well We can leave now, as you do seem to have better ideas for the evening." Throwing a glance over at Egan he grasped the large hand that was wrapped round his arm as he lead the man through the crowds, smiling at various lords. "Also I except to know exactly what Egan has talked about with Haines."

Making excuses as he went to the party goers he promised those that were interested in talking privately that they could come and visit at any time was needed. As he stepped out into the corridor, leaving the music of the party behind and breathed in deeply clearing his lungs of the highly perfumed air.

Swinging round with a grin on his face he pulled the hand in his grasp up to his mouth and bit it lightly. "Now shall we relocate to my room, or did you want to go else instead" He asked a grin covering his face as he grinned up at the taller man.

“You and me both, sometimes I don’t even know what he’s thinging,” Jyden replied to the desire to want to know what Egan was speaking to Haines. Jyden though didn’t look back over at the guard as they left the room. Outside the ballroom however his smirk was back on when Daeniz took his hand to his mouth. Hail and Greg both cleared their throats however from the other side of the hall. Jyden looked up at them and then back to Daeniz.

His other hand trailed down to the archer’s hip, “our rooms shall be fine,” he replied back and nodded to Hail and Greg.

Jyden followed Hail through the castle to the chambers. The two guards bowed and left them. He turned back to Daeniz, leaned down and sealed his lips over the archers. Wrapping an arm around the other’s waist he pulled him along inside his side of the chambers. Closing and bolting the door closed behind.

His lips broke from the other’s for a moment. “What poison have you given me?” he asked with a small smile to his lips as he kissed the other shortly this time.

He almost pouted as Jyden picked to return to their rooms, however followed the guards back with a small smile on his face. This Prince of foreign lands, and who was not long ago an enemy was now his. It wasn't that he loved Jyden and if it ever came up he would ask if love was needed in marriages of convenience. Or was lust all that was needed, currently he believed it to be lust and lust alone, although he was starting to think he loved the man's body.

When they were back in the rooms and the guards had left he pressed back against the searing kiss, not fighting as they moved to Jyden's rooms. "Just a poison called desire. Lust can be a dangerous thing for a man who can't control it." Giving Jyden a quick kiss Daeniz wriggled out of the man's grasp and walked across the room to the window, un-braiding his hair and then running his fingers through the strands.

It had honestly surprised him the previous day to know that Jyden had been a virgin considering for a Selanem boy to be called a man he needed to sleep with a woman. It was rare to find any one over 16 who had yet to do so, and it meant it was something he would keep the rest of the princes and nobility.

When he reached the window he leaned forwards resting his elbows on the stone in front of it and looking up at the stars in the sky. It wasn't that he considered himself romantic, he simply had plans and he was hoping that the other would fall right into them. After a few moments adjusted so that he was resting on his hands not his elbows, looking around one of his shoulders at Jyden he grinned. "Also it is not a poison I have given you and rather one you finally succumbed to."

Jyden’s lips twitched up when Daeniz called it desire and lust. Letting him wiggle out of his grasp Jyden turned around and leaned against the door. Watching the other walk to the window and open the curtains. His eyes traveled over the other’s back and the hair that fell around him. Jyden use to have longer hair, until he was sent to the border. He ran his hand through his short dark hair and then looked at his hand. Pushing off the door he took off the fancy shirt, kicked off the books and reached for his pack. His hand hovered over his pack for a moment as he looked at the bag. He then grabbed it and took out a plain shirt and his leather armor. He started to redress. He walked up behind Daeniz moved the blond hair to the side and placed a kiss on the other’s neck.

“Rethallen soldiers are known for their control,” he whispered into Daeniz’s ear. He looked out the window at the night sky and then to Daeniz. “Where is it that you want to go? The bed chambers it seems was not your intentions,” he replied and moved away from him so he could finish changing and strapping on the final pieces of armor. However he walked back over to Daeniz, his hands wrapping around the other’s waist and unhooking the belt. His hands worked quickly as he slipped on the leather sheath case of the dagger darts. Then the belt was fastened again and his hands were sliding off the other.

The Rethallen prince shoved his feet back into the boots after fully changing into something that matched him a lot better than the formal wear. He never thought that he would be standing in a room with a Selanem prince peacefully, his

thoughts and actions from earlier today coming back to him. His blue eyes moved over to the other and then back. In all honesty he didn’t want to be tempted by the other, he hadn’t actually wanted to lay with him, he wanted to still see him as an enemy, as someone he had to fight, the marriage as something he had to do. He had almost lost the control last night in the bath, but in the other chamber, seeing the other move and so willing to jab at him, the closeness –

“When we get to the stone castle in Rethallen, the celebration will not be like this,” he said to break the thoughts in his mind. “It will be different for you I think. So, were are we going my Prince Archer?”

Closing his eyes Daeniz smiled. He did have plans for where they could go, get them out of the stuffy castle. IT would cause all kinds of rumours but then people would talk no matter what they did. Chuckling lightly he turned leaning his back against the window. "Oh I expect it will be very different for me, From the sounds of it your brothers don't have a death wish for you. Though you will need to warn me before we get there, no point having me completely unprepared."

He pushed away from the wall and walked towards the exit grabbing Jyden's hand as he passed. Not having worn the fancy clothes himself he didn't feel the need to change and instead took the other the the gate of the castle. "As for where we are going... well I had been hoping you would be adventurous and was going to try and tempt you in the woods or something...." He grinned as he weaved through the streets, evey now and then he would look behind him to make sure that none of the palace guards had followed.

Eventually he dragged the other into a pub near the edge of the city, the roar of activity hit them the moment the door opened. Daeniz was instantly recognised and a cheer went up as the occupants of the pub all but pushed him through to the bar. It was a pub for the soldiers in the army, there were veterans who had left due to injury and those who were in the middle of their fighting career. They all knew who the man Daeniz had brought must be, but surprisingly there was very little hostility towards him, more than that there was a level of pity. Sure they had been mortal enemies, but these were the men who were in danger of dying each day on the battle field. The truce, the marriage was welcomed by them.

"Prince!" A cheerful voice called out. "What can we get you?"

"Ah, Brian. Could we get two of the house ale. I also need messages passed to Generals Doherty and Hunner. I wasn't able to talk to them at the banquet." The bar keep grinned and got the drinks, also assuring him that the messages wouldn't be a problem. Daeniz leaned back to Jyden and whispered. "Watch out for the injured veterans, otherwise you'll be fine here. I need to get the messages sorted and then you can pick the destination."

Jyden allowed himself to be taken away by Daeniz. “My brothers and sister no,” he agreed and started to keep up with Daeniz through the city. He watched the places as they passed them, and watched as Daeniz looked over his shoulder to make sure they weren’t followed. “What would be the fun in telling you?” he had a smile on his face and waved his hand as if to dismiss it. “It wont be like that fancy celebration,” he said and started to slow a little when they came to the tavern. Walking inside with the prince his hand at once went to his sword hilt. His stance tightened as he looked around.

“Archer,” he looked to the prince his face tight. He shifted and made sure his back was to no one in the room. He wasn’t sure if he put any of these people here, but he knew that his side did, and it wasn’t often Rethallen left wounded men to run away. These men were very lucky to be alive, more so considering what happened about a year ago on the Rethallen side.

He listened to Daeniz, nodded his head once, and took the drink from him. He tried to relax his body as he tried to keep everyone in his vision.

“This isn’t the border, we enjoy the peace this offers, relax,” said one man sitting at a table to his left. Jyden looked at him for a second. Relax in a room full of trained soldiers- injured or not, trained and seasoned. Once he did relax a little he could tell there wasn’t any hostility in the room, at least none openly given.

His hand relaxed on the sword, looking over the room while Daeniz sorted his messages reminded him. He drank the ale, he didn’t sit though as he watched the celebration talking and over all commotion going on inside the room. After a moment, he smiled and removed his hand completely from his sword.

“How many injured do you have in Rethallen?” the same man asked.

“We don’t,” Jyden answered. “A soldier is patched up in a medical tent or building, left to heal for a week or so and sent back to fight until they die, we didn’t allow injured soldiers,” he answered truthfully. “Just like we don’t turn away those who are injured, our medical unit treated everyone, including Selanem soldiers, until they were well enough to be sent back to the battle field. It’s a law we abide by, and no harm was ever done to them when they left our medical unit until we saw them again on the field.” Jyden looked at his drink and tapped his finger on the mug as he thought about it.

He finished his drink and placed the mug on the counter.

  • 3 weeks later...

Daeniz smiled as he watched Jyden tense and then slowly relax. He probably should have warned him before they entered the bar but he believed there to be no huge danger here as so didn't feel the need to. Turning back to the barkeep he walked away leaving Jyden talking to a soldier about the wounded and started whispering quietly to the man.

"Tell them that The training will be happening as normal. So I expect to see them at noon in the central courtyard." he watched the barkeep nod and repeat the message back to him. "Well done, here some extra for you services." Placing a gold coin which could have covered their drinks twice over Daeniz walked back to Jyden and rested his shoulder against the bar as he watched the other. staying silent for a few moments and actually drinking his ale.

"So Prince, I picked this destination. You can pick the next. What do you want to do, the night still has long to go and there is no point in wasting it."
