Ashton watched as the rain steadily drummed against the window, adjusting the gun in his hand he looked around the room he was in. There was two old, leather arm chairs that faced what looked to be a recently extinguished fire place, a mantle set right above it as well as a huge portrait, which considering the fact that he was currently in an overly priced mansion seemed a bit cliche. The darkened room was further illuminated by a sudden flash of lightening as thunder cracked, sounding like it was ripping apart the sky itself. The light allowing the smaller, white haired boy to note that there was also a large book case behind the desk, no cought filled with a bunch of boring, literature books. Yuji was supposed to stay with him, but somehow the two had managed to seperate and in such a large home it was rather easy. They were here to eradicate a demon, nothing out of the ordinary from what they usually did. His job was to supply the demon with power, and life, while it was Yuji's to do the actual fighting. He was pulled from his thoughts when a soft hum echo'ed through the closed door, slowly, gun in hand, he walked over and as quietly as he could opened the door to the long corridor hallway, stepped out he looked down and there, at the end of the hall was a small girl. She seemed to be no older than 13, wearing a bright white dress, long black hair fell in waves around her face, her bangs covering her eyes. Ashton had done this to many times to be fooled by it, he raised his gun without a second thought and spoke. "Demon, class 13, you are accused of murdering multiple humans, and demons alike, as such you are sentanced to be eradicated." With that, he shot, however another flash of lightening went off, causing him to close his eyes for a moment, blind to the brightness of it, the next moment he opened his eyes he saw that the place where the girl was standing was now empty. His eyes went wide as he heard a laguh, dark and sinnister rang out right behind him, he cried out, "Yuji!" As he did, his hand shot up and he ripped open the front of the necklace that hung out his neck, when it was opened his life essance flowed freely from it, to his demon.

Flash.

The lightening crackled across the sky; leaving traces of light branching across the dark clouds. It lit up the room for a second before it darkened once more. It didn't bother him, however. His eyes were used to the darkness. His footsteps made not a sound as he walked across the carpet leading into a bedroom where the door stood ajar. Gun in hand, he pushed the door open slowly and gazed into the room. No light came in. The curtains were drawn but he could make out the bed and small dresser with a mirror attached to it. Lowering the gun to his side, he narrowed his eyes and stepped back. The room was filled with negative energy. Yes, this had to be the demon's favourite spot, but she wasn't here. He couldn't sense her near.

Flash.

Another bolt of lightening lit up the hallway.

He straightened, and gazed down the hallway. Some of the doors were open while others were closed and more than likely locked. Not that it would matter to him. He looked back the way he came. Ashton, his human, had vanished from his side when they both took separate paths to find their target. He was beginning to wonder if that was a good idea. Although, Ashton was armed and had a way of summoning Yuji to his side, he wasn't that worried but after stumbling upon the room the demon occupied frequently, he made it a point to start making his way back.

That's when it struck.

He heard his name. It was faint but loud enough for him to hear. A second after, he caught the smell of something on the air. He breathed it in. It was sweet... And very familiar. He knew exactly what it was and who it belonged to. His jaw clenched as he took off at a very inhuman speed down the hallway and stairs. The other demon was near. He could feel it in the air around him. She was watching, laughing... Mocking them. What a childish one.

Tch.

“Ashton,” he muttered, slowing his pace and reaching out a hand into the darkness to grasp a hold of Ashton's shoulder from behind. “You called me. Did she harm you?” he added, leaning in close to whisper. “Be on guard. She's very near.”

Ashton didn't even jump when he felt the familar hand on his shoulder, automatically taking a step back so he was standing a bit closer to the other for protection. He glanced around for his gun and sighed when he found that he couldn't see where it was, and shook his head. "No, she didn't get the chance, you got here in time. Can we make this quick? I would rather not keep the bridge open for to long." He spoke softly, keeping his voice low as he motioned to the necklace around his neck. The longer it was open the more it effected him, and there would be a day when he was going to breathe his last breath because of the necklace, as his soul was slowly draining into his demon every time it opened. He really didn't need to open it but as a reaction threw it open. Reaching behind him he pulled out a small knife as protection, another flash of lightening went off, and the girl appeared again, this time behind the two, causing Ashton to shift again so he was still safely behind his demon. "A human and his pet." Her voice spoke, the sinnister sound of it was now gone and replaced with the sickening sweet one of a little girl."Let's see if the demon can handle himself?" It spoke again, and with another flash of lightening it was gone, then appeared again right beside the two, it's arm shooting out towards Ashton who in an effort of evading it reeled back right into a window, shattering it with his force and toppling backwards over the edge and out of the window. The being jumped at Yuji in order to keep him away from Ashton, who had landed rather painfully on the wet ground outside. There was a few cuts from the glass but he was fine, however with the new distance between him and his demon he knew that Yuji wouldn't be nearly as strong as he would be if he was as close as he was a few moments before. "Yuji! Hold on!" He yelled up at the broken window before taking off towards the front ofthe house to try and make his way back inside, the creature let out a shrill laugh before using the opportunity to lung towards Yuji again.

A slight smile curved Yuji's lips as Ashton leaned back against him.

“Of course. I'll end it,” he spoke softly, his eyes traveling down the boy's neck to the necklace that hung there. He felt the threads of Ashton's soul being absorbed into his body from the necklace that remained open. It was his source of power at a price. His human was weakened each time. But that was in the contract they had both made so they knew how things would go.

The lightening lit up the room again with a loud roll of thunder.

The girl's sickly sweet voice echoed in the dark hallway where they stood.

"A human and his pet." She had said.

His cold eyes narrowed as he reeled around to face her; placing his body between Ashton and the girl. He mentally swore. How he hated little girls. They were so annoying and only irritated him even more when she spoke and kept shifting directions. The light flashed again and faded. She was gone for a second before the situation changed not according to plan. He felt Ashton was no longer behind him. He spun around once more, only to see him crashing and falling out the window. Eyes widening, he just barely was able to shout Ashton's name and throw his arm out to try and grab him as the girl lunged for him. All at once, the energy slowly to dissipate. That was the drawback. When Ashton was not near, Yuji was only at half his power.

“Shit.”

His finger pulled back on the trigger and fired a warning shot in the direction the girl was standing before tossing it to the ground. There was no way a bullet can stop her when she kept moving in the shadows. He'd just be wasting his bullets. Instead, he decided to meet her head on. Demon against Demon. He grinned at the thought of destroying this girl. Ripping her limb from limb. Blood gushing from severed parts of her body... Yes, he'd make her pay for her life of crime and murder she committed. He knew Ashton was fine from the fall. He could feel it. Faint, but still. The girl wanted to separate them, thinking it'd be easy to finish them off one at a time. So she lunged; arms out stretched. Hair brushing across his eyes, he bent his knees in a slight crouch and pushed off. They nearly made contact. The girl's hair whipped past him as he moved just out of her fingertips. What happened next happened fast. He paused just as her body was spinning around to counter, his elbow swung back; making contact with her head with a sickening crunch. Hoping this would stun her long enough for Ashton to hurry back, he turned around hoping to see the crumpled body of the girl laying on the ground. He was only half his power. The girl had full power. Ashton needed to hurry if they wanted her dead quick. Otherwise, the battle would be drawn out. Not that he was complaining. A smirk crossed his lips. He was just getting started.

The rain pored down, causing the already pained human to slip, falling face first onto the steps that let up to the doors. Cursing loudly he paused for a moment, trying to catch his breath as the ran continued to beat down on him. Reaching up his brought his hand to the necklace that hung around his neck and shut it, only after it was closed and latched did he find himself able to properly breath again. Panting quickly still he made his way up onto the porch, however his momentum was gone. With the necklace now closed he could only imagine how hard of a time his partner was having. Keeping his hand clutched around the necklace he only tightened his grip, he could feel it pulse under his fingers. Glancing down at it he watched as it seemed to vibrate, warmth seeping out of it like it always did. His gaze was steady as he stared at the item in his hand, knowing it was the equivilant of his heart that was no longer inside his body. One day, his life would run out and the necklace would turn lifeless and cold. One day he would fall asleep and never wake up again. He could just stay were he was, and not have to fight anymore, he could make that day, this day.

What are you fighting for little one?

A flash of lightening struck the sky as those familiar and hated words rang through his head. Eyes widening slightly before his gaze fell once again and a look of determination set across his face. While he had the momentum he pushed himself to his feet and straight into the door, knocking it open with his shoulder and taking off up the large stair case in the direction that his partner had last been in. Keeping his eyes straight ahead he reached up to the necklace that was bouncing against his chest and ripped it open once again, resolved to not close it until the demon was dead and gone. Shedding off his heavy coat which seemed to be weighing him down from the water he commanded his feet to move, faster, faster faster. Running straight into the other and using the solid structure of Yuji to hold onto for a moment while he caught his breath. Now the necklace was once again open and he was right next to the other, so nothing could and would hold them back. "Glad to see you waited for me to finish the party." He commented, while finally composing himself once again.
