"I can't say that I know what they were thinking when they killed your mother... And I know that we kill the plants, but we don't know what else to do. Many of us don't want to live like this, when we're scared we act violently and try to fight back..."

 

Adam lowered his gaze again, taking a shaky breath as he tried to remain calm.

 

"My mother and my father loved the plants... They always taught me that plants could love humans and that humans and plants could work together to make the world better. But they were both killed by the plants. For years I thought that it was because all plants were monsters, that no matter how much we tried nothing would ever change. I hated everything about nature because I was terrified of it. Now I know that it was because my parents carried weapons to protect themselves from other humans."

 

His voice caught in his throat as he tried to hold back tears. He hated talking about his parents' death.

 

"Most humans don't know this, all we know is what we've seen and what's been passed down to us. If we knew there was another way to live then many of us would happily chose it, but we think that all we can do is fight and so that's what we do... Please help us change"

Bloom and Vine were taken aback. Was all Adam said true?

"You humans...want to change?

Vine looked at his sister- before looking at Adam.

"I..if that's true then... you won't hurt us any more? You'll stop hunting us?

He was slowly warming up to Adam but still very mad at him and felt betrayed that he let those scientists touch him. It was as if...they needed to start over again...

"I haven't hurt any plants since I met Vine, I have done everything I can to convince others to do the same. Some have listened but other haven't"

 

Adam looked up at them both.

 

"Some humans might not want to change, but please don't let that affect the way you see the rest of us. We don't want to live like this"

The children looked at each other. So there Are bad humans and good humans?

Bloom looked at Adam.

"If we.. if we did help you then what's to say about the bad humans?! They'll continue to hurt us and hunt us down while we try to help the good humans?! "

It was unfair. To only help the humans while others were wanting to experiment on them. It would only take one Human to ruin everything...

Vine looked at the ground..sad.

"I.. I don't want to go back to that place... they hurt me... and you... Adam You didn't protect me..I.. if I did help your people again... I want all the humans to be good... "

[Kotorichan]

"I'm sorry Vine... I tried to stop them but I failed..."

 

Adam felt horrible, he wished that he had been able to protect the boy but he had been far too weak.

 

"If the plants won't attack us... I could bring the good humans out into the forest, we could live with the plants and..."

 

He hesitated for a moment, looking down at the ground.

 

"And then we would also be safe from the bad humans, since anyone who came with the intent to do bad things would be eaten by the plants..."

 

He looked up at Vine and Bloom with a sad expression.

 

"I can't kill the bad humans, I'm sorry but I can't do that... But I can leave them to fend for themselves, even if they won't last long..."

Bloom and Vine stared at each other. Would Adam really bring the humans out? It sounded like foolishness but... if the humans really wanted peace then.. Vine wanted to help. Bloom on the other hand was very hesitant .

"Mother once told me... that humans use to co-exist with us a long time ago...if it happen then... I want to try it now... Mother said it was our duty to guide the humans... to help them..

Bloom frowned.

"Fine... I'll assist but I still don't trust you people. There will be areas off limits to you, and you have to help with the plants.."

She stated. Vine smiled at her taking her hand.

"Thank you...Sister Bloom.

Vine looked to Adam.

" I..if you want...I can try to make little homes for you.."

[Kotorichan]

Adam nodded at Bloom's words. "of course, this forest is not outs. We will follow your rules"

 

He smiled at Vine's offer. "that would be wonderful, but if it's too much trouble to make homes then we would be able to make ourselves something with some sturdy wood."

 

He was starting to form a plan in his mind. He knew that if Gin was still at the caves he wouldn't be able to just walk in and out again.

 

"I should go back to my people and let the ones who want to live like this come out here... Of course I don't expect either of you to come with me, especially after what happened..." his gaze dropped to the floor, he couldn't shake the feeling of guilt for being unable to save Vine. "but if you could just tell me the way... I could send people out to meet you, I may not be with them but they won't be carrying weapons and they'll listen to you"

She crossed her arms looking away. The human smiled at Vine's offer.

"No humans down here. You will stay up above. And well let a plant send you back and lead your people back"

Vine slowly nodded agreeing.

Adam lowered his head in a deep bow. "thank you both... I don't know if you realize how much this really means to me... I'll always be grateful that you gave me this chance.

 

He slowly straightened and gave them both a genuine smile. "I"m ready to go whenever you can send me"

Vine looked to her sister. She nodded As Vine smiled and let the vines come down from above and wrap around his arm. He then did the same to Adam...and the plants pulled them up to the surface. Releasing the two of them on land. A huge man eating plant came up behind vine and licked him, making him giggle.

"Hello friend...please take Adam back home...and lead his friends back here."

He glanced at the human. But quickly looked away. The man eating plant picked Adam up by his waist and sat him on top of his head.

" I hope... I can trust you,.. "

He said looking at the human with sad eyes. The man eating plant started moving. Vine didn't wave goodbye, let alone say it...He quickly disappeared into the grass.....

"Alright guys! I think that's enough! "

He smiled to all his plant friends as they built homes for the humans...it only took minutes.

 

 

Vine made two of those homes plus eight tree houses up above. A even made bridges to each home with vines. Of course there was nothing in them but over time the humans could adjust. He hoped they liked it...and...wouldn't be so scared of him.

"You can, I promise" Adam said with slight smile. He was truly happy that he was being given a chance, not just to help himself but also to help all the people he cared about.

 

He let the plant take him back to his home. He took a deep breath and walked straight up to the front entrance, if Gin's men were still around then they would easily see him.

"Stop right there!"

A guard spotted Adam and pointed a gun at him,

"Where is the the boy!"

More guards came running the man eating plant saw the men and attacked them...grabbing one man and eating him hole..before grabbing another and ribbing him limb from limb,

"Its a man eating plant KILL IT"

they started shooting....it was like a war between plants and humans.

 

Meg sat in her room, She had just finished watching over Adam's little sister, She was asleep in her own room. She was so worried about him...She hadn't see him in days.. she hoped Adam wasn't dead.

[Kotorichan]

Adam raised his hands to show that he was unarmed. "bring me to Gin, I'll tell him everything I know"

 

He had no intention of telling Gin anything, but he might be able to get something from the man if he pretended to cooperate.

 

When the shooting started he bolted towards the caves to take shelter from the violence. One of the soldiers grabbed him and pinned him down before dragging him into the caves. Adam didn't try to resist at all.

Gin was in his lab looking at all the things he's gotten from Vine...

"Extraordinary...his DNA is fascinating! "

"Professor Gin.."

The man turned seeing a guard holding Adam captive.

"Its you again... your a fool to return... where is the plant called Vine."

He glared.

[Kotorichan]

Adam looked up at the man, trying to keep his courage. "I'll tell you everything you want to know... But you have to take all of your men out of this place and never return."

 

"I can guarantee that you'll never find their hideout without my help... If you agree to my conditions then I'll show you how to get there and I'll tell you everything I know while we travel. They won't be expecting us so you will be able to capture them"

 

He stared up at Gin with a pained expression. "I don't want the people I love to pay for my foolish mistakes... I should have never put plants before my own kind"

Gin listened looking at the boy. He smiled glad Adam saw the error of his ways.

"You see how foolish you were In picking Plants over your own kind... alright... we'll leave if you lead up to the boy. You have my word. "

He said watching Adam closely.

"And by the way...that man eating plant that you brought back with you...is dead...it's a good thing too huh?"

He grinned.

"take me too him...now

[Kotorichan]

"I'll take you to him as soon as I see you take your men out of here..." Adam hesitated for a moment.

 

"And... I want to see my girlfriend... I'll join your group but I don't want her to get involved... So I want to say goodbye" His gaze dropped to the floor. "fighting plants is so dangerous, I want her to be safe, even if I might not see her for a very long time..."

Gin hesitated thinking about it. He looked to the floor.

"Hmm...Very well. You have one hour. We'll have everything and the set up put away,and in the tanks...be out of the caves by then."

He turned and left. The guard following behind the professor. As they headed out of the caves Gin stopped the guard.

"I still don't trust him. Where taking a hostage just incase he trays anything got it?"

"Yes sir! "

Gin grinned mischievously.

Adam immediately went to find Meg, he needed to say goodbye to her and to his sister. He found his sister in her home and spent a few minutes talking to her, giving her instructions and saying goodbye. He knew he had to hurry in case Gin decided to leave early. He then went to Meg's home and knocked on her door.

Meg opened the door slowly and tensed when she saw it was Adam. She looked shocked and happy and yet...upset....very....upset.

"YOU JERK!"

She slapped him hard across the face, tears building up in her eyes.

"You were gone for days!! I thought you were dead! What happened! You scared me half to death! You idiot! I was worried sick! "

She struggled to glare at him As she tried no to cry.

Adam gasped at the slap, his eyes widening in surprise. He lightly touched his cheek, wincing in pain.

 

"Meg... I'm so sorry..."

 

He stepped towards her, gently holding his arms out for a hug.

 

"I swear, I would have come sooner if I could have... I'll tell you everything, let's just go inside first okay?"

Meg hesitated before going into Adam's arms, hugging him tightly as a few tears fell.

"Please don't ever scare me like that again! I'm begging you.."

She sniffles as a few tears fall from her face.

"You have a lot of explaining to do.."

She whispered.

Adam held her close and gently led her inside.

 

"I'm so sorry Meg... I would have warned you if I had the chance..."

 

He sat down with her on her bed after closing the door behind them.

 

"Listen, I don't have much time... They captured Vine and I had to get him out of here, Vine and his sister have agreed to let humans who want to change their ways move to the forest... I came back here to get Gin to take his people out of here so I need you to get as many people to move out into the forest when I leave with them... As long as you don't bring any weapons Vine will take care of you... I'm going to be leaving with Gin in less than an hour and I need you to act as the leader..."

Meg's eyes widened. As she took all of Adam's words in.

"I..I can't! There's no way There gonna listen to me! And you've been gone for days everyone thinks your dead! There electing a new leader tomorrow! You can't leave Adam! Not again... there's no way any of them will go outside- with out any weapons! And you want them to live in the forest?! They'll think your crazy! And how am I suppose to get your little sister out of here. I'm not sure how long I can carry here. She's fragile- she'll get burned by the sun! We need you to stay! We need you here...I... I need you!!

She yelled at him...scared and worried. Everything was falling apart. And the chances of them listening to a girl were very low.

"You saw how everyone acted when you wanted me to leave the cave! With out you everything is...is horrible! I.. I never want to live in a world where your not alive and by my side! I'm scared... I'm scared I'm going to lose you! Your so stubborn and brave...and your always thinking about others but never your self! I...I.love you...so much..so much...that it hurts.."

She was pouring her heart and soul out to him. Showing him His terrified she truly was...Meg always acted strong...tough.but inside she was just as fragile as any other girl.She looked away from Adam, trembling slightly as tears fell from her eyes.

[Kotorichan]

Adam pulled her into a close hug. "shh... Please don't cry Meg... Evelyn has her wheelchair and she's been outside before... she'll be okay... I know that you can talk to a couple people, you don't need to make an announcement, just find one or two other people and take them outside. Evelyn can help you talk to people... The two of you will be fine"

 

He gently stroked her hair. "I'm sorry Meg, this is why I was so hesitant to tell you my feelings... I wanted you to get over me so you wouldn't have to feel like this..." he felt like his heart was breaking for doing this to her. "I love you so much and I swear I'll find a way back to you... if you just want to take Evelyn and wait till I get back to bring anyone else then that's okay too"

 

Adam didn't want to admit that he wasn't sure if he'd ever get back. "I'm so sorry... I love you so much but..." he pulled away a little so he could look at her. "I... I want to be with you forever Meg, I want to have a family with you... but I don't want our children to live in a world like this..."
