A young Merman was born in the sea off of the coast of America (The Pacific). Male mers are very limited, and their birth was believed to be a sign of a holy or plentiful year. Because of their significance they are often named after precious things. Because of this, he was named 'Saffierblau', meaning 'Sapphire', because the only colour on him was his very stunning blue eyes. And as he grew up, that colour grew more and more beautiful, while the rest of him stayed pale and pearl coloured. This worried many, as they had never seen such a colorless mer, but they didn't really start worrying till many years later.

The young man was very unlike the regular male. Matter of fact, he acted almost identical to the female. Male mers are violent, very good leaders and often take several wives. They usually show now sort of love towards his wives or children, unless their male of course. On the other hand, girls tend to be very gentle and caring for each other, though they are harsh competitors for mates, only the 'head wives' tend to stoop too any sort of violence towards other females, unless the male says so. Women also do all the work, unlike the man who is very originated and able to coordinate and control, women tend to bend and work, usually uncomfortable giving orders. They usually tended to be more brilliant then the male because of their large amounts of curiosity.

Saffierblau, or 'Safivar' as some of the littler girls called him, seemed to have no leading skills at all, he was quiet and didn't enjoy being bossy or cruel. The head male considered it nothing, though suspicions grew and rumors spread, then finally when he turned 18 his father couldn't dismiss it as 'he's just growing' sent wemon to watch him to see what he was alike when he thought no one was looking. And they eventually caught him doing something they would've never expected. Women possess beautiful singing voices, to lure men under the water, so they can violate him and eat them. Safivar, had went to the shore to watch a human dock, just far enough if someone saw they could brush it off as 'nothing'... and he sung. He was quiet, but it was still rung in the ears and made the merwoman who heard it feel faint. Boys weren't by suppose to be curious about humans. And they certainly weren't suppose to sing.

Safiver Sat quietly against the coral brushing his hair through his fingers. Today was just like any other day, so it seemed, he could do what he pleased when he pleased but he chooses to stay close to the shores just out of the eyesight of the beautiful creatures who wades around in the sun and sand. It seemed very normal, but it wasn't. Because soon other's became to come. He blinked, swimming up as they came near. Mermaids never came this close to the shore in a group unless hunting... or, they were attacking. He stared glancing behind him up where the water and the sand met. Up on land he knew he would be poked and prodded, not being treated very kindly at all. Then again, this couldn't be much better.

So he swam, swapping his tail as fast as he could manage but of course it was always the girls who had the upper hand in speed, he got close, nearly grazing a boat before one finally grabbed his hair and yanked him back. A mass tails and hands and hair wrapped around him and yanked at him. He gave a shrill scream before a hand covered his mouth, dragging him back into the deeper part of the water. While normally he felt nothing with the temperature with the water he couldn't help but hover as he was dragged down and away from the surface of the water.

The ripped out strands of hair. They bit his skin. They cut his tail. They choked, strangled and mangled him, tossing his limp body to one group after the one. He kept his eyes closed and mouthed clenched, taking every hit trying just not to struggle, knowing it would only end in more pain. When most of them got bored, which they often did attacking a limp body, the leader simply shoved it onto a empty beach, leaving him to dry out. He was very tired when he reached the shore, while the sand and sand ground into his cuts and breathing the air burned his lungs, he was very happy with the stillness. He sighed a tiny bit, closing his eyes. He could see red seeping into the sand. He already had this metallic taste in his mouth, he didn't want it in his eyes too.

Work at the laboratory was always busy and each day new specimen were sent in for testing which didn't give Jin any time to rest. He never got tired of the job though because it was in his best interest to discover new species. After hearing rumors about mermaid, a mythical creature that no one had ever seen before, Jin worked harder and spent more time in the lab rather than his home. There were times he didn't go home for weeks and that just showed how much he loved his job. People called him workaholic but he didn't care; as long as he got the result, what does it matter. He expected to find something out of ordinary but never thought it would actually be a legendary aquatic creature.

Today was no different, everyone was so engrossed in their work that they didn't notice Jin's presence, otherwise they would be making funny faces the moment he walked in. It seemed like things would take awhile to settle down before he could get along with the co-workers. Jin sighed and scratched the back of his head as he walked over to his workstation, trying to be as quiet as he could so people wouldn't make a fuss about his lateness. Then suddenly someone slapped him on the back, "What are you doing here? I thought you already left with the team." Clueless as it seems, Jin had no idea what the man was talking about. After all, he just arrived not long ago. He pulled an all nighter to finish up the lab report last night so he barely made it this morning.

After hearing the story, Jin rushed out the door as if he couldn't wait another second the moment he heard about new findings. It seemed like someone had reported that they saw a weird creature near the beach but didn't dare to go near so they just walked away. The lab immediately sent a team to check it out after they received the information. Jin had a hunch that something would happen today when he was about to leave home, but never once did he expect such good news. He was so excited that he forgot to grab his bag and simply ran to the beach. The laboratory was located near the beach to make things easier for the research team and conducting experiments would be more convenient as well. It didn't take him long to arrive at the location and Jin couldn't believe his eyes when he saw those beautiful scales. He slowly walked closer to have a better view as if he was in a trance, oblivious to things around him.

I'm assuming YC was near the shore so that he could be found by MC's research team, sorry if I got it wrong ^//^

Layed on the shore for almost 3 hours, his body never drying up though his back had gotten a red sunburn. His tail, while seemingly glimmery to someone who'd never seen it while he was swimming, was actually beginning to shrivel. His breath was raspy and his throat sore. Sand was in his face and mouth and the sand around him was pink from where blooded drained do it and where the tide would sweep it away. He was far from alright, but he stayed completely still, making loud screeches when a bird would get to close.

He almost missed the humans, gawking at him silently. They wandered over in an awkward but unbreakable quiet, from all angle examining him. They scribbled notes and talked, and while Safiver was not deaf he was just enough loopy from blood loss to not think much of it. Though they broke his fragile ease when a man, a very idiotic scientist, gently rested his callous and cold hand on his shoulder, planning on turing him over to see the wound. But, his eyes shot open, the brilliant blue frightening them and making them jump back. Not only that be he screamed, shrill and horrified. They ran off, not knowing they probably scared him more then he scared them. He was surrounded by odd.people who wobbled on two legs, who wore white coats gloves and goggles, who touched and examined him. It was frightening.By the time Jin got there, his throat already sore and burning from his new way of breathing was completely raw from screaming.

He shook a bit from fear and his eyes glanced nervously at anything nearby that moved. He sniffled and hiccuped a tiny bit, like crying with tears, and every little movement from that caused pain in his throat. He was burning energy trying to keep himself awake incase the scientists, or something worse came back. But what did come was not a pruned old man with grubby hands and frightening attire. It was a much easier sight to handle, he watched Jin watch him for a moment, just taken in awe himself at the greatness of humans, before the pain rushed through his body once more and he let out a small croak. He coughed a tiny bit, closing his eyes tight before he looked up pleading. He muttered something in an odd, inhuman language, before his voice became smooth and the words melodic. He was trying to sing, to get him mesmerized, but with the state of his health he would at least go for getting him to feel empathy.

Not listening to whatever the others were saying, Jin was simply enjoying the view in front of him. He couldn't believe merman truly existed until he saw with his own eyes. He was speechless and for a moment he was in his own world imagining all kinds of experiments that could be conducted and how this discovery would have a big impact on his career. He couldn't wait to get back to the lab and start working on it right away, but then suddenly, he received another hard slap right in the center of his back. It seemed like people found it as a favorite spot to slap him or something, and that was twice already. The sudden slap caused him to move forward, even closer to the merman laying there. On second thought, maybe that was a big help for him because with all the people surrounding that merman, Jin wouldn't be able to have any close contact at all.

Jin looked at the merman in the eyes and his gaze was beautiful, far more than Jin ever imagined. The color of blood made him stand out among the people wearing white coats. He was the center of attention. From afar, Jin couldn't have noticed how badly injured he was, therefore, it disappointed him a little to see those wounds and burns. 'It must have been hours since he left the water', Jin thought, examining his entire body, not touching it directly though. From the look of it, he probably got those wounds while under water and it couldn't possibly be caused by humans. Jin then searched around to see if he could find anything else but it seemed like someone already got his hands on it so he turned his attention to the merman again. This time it surprised him a bit when he noticed the merman was trying to say something. Although the lips were moving, Jin couldn't hear what he was saying except those pleading eyes, looking like he was asking to be saved. Jin did nothing but returned with a cold gaze. It was impossible to consider this thing a human, let alone any feeling of sympathy. It was merely a test subject to Jin.

"Jin, what do you think of this one?" A familiar voice coming from behind startled him. He knew right away whose voice it belongs to. Jin was under his care for about two years before he started working at this laboratory. Without his recommendation, Jin wouldn't be able to stand here now.

"Professor Hughes, I thought you won't be back till next week. What makes you change your mind?" After two years, Jin finally got to work together with Hughes again and he was more than happy to meet the person who had taught him so many things back then.

While they were engaging in their own conversation, another team just arrived with essential equipment to transport the merman back to the lab. They had to be very careful not to touch his wounds directly so that it wouldn't be infected or got worse by any chance.

Was extremely nervous when his voice had disappeared. He continued to make tiny, inaudible noises untill he turned around. His cold eyes and stiff posture didn't really shock him, but he couldn't believe he turned around, shoving him off as unimportant to his other human friend. He started to hyperventilate as he tried to calm down, though when the team came to help carry him in came out only shocked his nerves more. His teeth clenched and he gave mute screams when the touched delicate gills on his side's and burning wounds on his front. Being carried away on white, smooth sheet did not bring any reassurance. The tense and strict faces of the people around him made him feel powerless. When he entered the building his were filled with blinding white. He squinted, seeing more and more of the people in white. Closing his eyes did no good, glass tools clicked, amazed gasped filled every room he entered, and the feeling of a million eyes, and all their hands reaching out haunted him.

Of course, he opened his after he noticed that he wasn't moving or elevated anymore. The white sheet and been set on a table, while men in white and blue passed by, seemingly chaotic Safiver could tell there was a system. Like a school of fish, they each had their own mind, but worked in one mass consciousness, all working together towards a common goal. Of course, when on big doctor flipped him over gently while another nurse set a pillow under his head, he realized their goal related directly to him.

While panicking seemed like a good idea, he found he was so comfortable, he closed his eyes ready to slip out of consciousness... someone wrapped something around his arm and another gently patted his face. His eyes shot back open. They didn't want him to sleep, they feared he may not wake up. They gently lowered his body into the water, laying back just enough so his gills were covered but the large cuts and scrapes and his face weren't submerged. The doctors relaxed when they saw the fills fluttered, this was the way he was supposed to breath. It made it easier for him to stay up, though the pain from disinfecting and cleaning wounds, a few quick sharp pains from needles, and more all made him wish he were out cold. They watched hos reaction needles and such he was actually very clam about, he was more interested on the ing on his arm checking his blood pressure. His nails were sharp and started to tear at the cloth. Quickly, one of the nurses took his hands so he couldn't scratch at it. His nails were like dogs, with blood and vein inside them, so cutting and filing them would be a problem. Instead, they decided to keep his hair and nails at their current length.

When his cuts were covered with sealed bandages, they put him in a tank. It took them a while to remove some of the fish and coral to make the giant tank comfortable and roomy enough. They dropped him in without a splash and watched as he sunk to the bottom, laying down for a while before he pushed up a bit with his arms before he started to move his tail, it started with a twitch, then flutter, before long he was swimming back and forth in the tank. His tail looked much stronger and in action he shone much brighter. He bumped into the edge of the tank, getting fascinated with his reflection. The glass, except for one, was a haunted one-way mirror. He understood it was him, and he seemed very charmed with himself, but he was even more pleased by showing off to any doctor who passed by the see through part of his tank, doing little file and twirls, tapping his nails against the glass and following them as far as he could go.

The merman did not fail to amaze Jin with his little action that seems to fascinate him even more. Jin was there the entire time, from the moment that one was brought back to the lab to the point where they treated his wounds and placed him into the tank. As an assistant, his job was to observe and record the merman's every movement. Then from there, they'd start to analyze the differences between human and this creature, and since the wounds were still fresh, they couldn't perform any testing on his body. They would have to wait until he was completely healed to get an accurate result, rather than wasting time on conducting experiments that wouldn't provide any useful data.

Professor Hughes, the one Jin met earlier, offered to help with the research which caused the team to become highly motivated, unlike their usual lack of enthusiasm. Jin was also one of them and he couldn't wait to share what he had learned and found up till this point. While everyone was busy preparing necessary tools to accommodate the merman's needs, Jin took the blood sample that was collected from the wounds back to the lab section and started working on DNA analysis. He wanted to find out the component that makes this merman so different from human and since breathing under water wasn't an easy thing to do, they probably used a different type of gills systems and how do they switch back and forth between breathing under water and on land. There are many questions that needed to be answered and Jin didn't know where to start.

After a few hours of performing all the possible tests, Jin just had to wait for the results so he decided to take a look at the merman, to see how that guy was doing after being placed in water. It seemed like he was doing better than Jin expected. And as if he was in his own little world, having no idea what was awaiting him outside of that tank, the little merman twirled around in water, drawing attention of people passing by, especially that shimmering tail with all these fragile scales molded together and gave people a feeling that it would be silky and smooth to the touch.

He was just fine with it, he got to watch them just back, watching them walk and talk and use strange tools with brights lights. He got temporarily stunned by the light of someone's phone, but he hadn't noticed and right afterwards went seeking the attention of someone else. He was very intrigued by their clothes, everything that he'd been wearing we're ripped off him during his attack, but it was not to much different then the jewelry worn by regular people. He liked that, tapping at a lady with a pretty faux pearl necklace. However she scurried past.

After a while of chasing men around and trying to gain attention he got... bored. Very bored. It started off with his chasing would slow down, just kinda following to where he'd stay in one spot hands pressed against the glass while his eyes trailed after them. Soon it became him just floating, watching from wherever he drifted to him, to him at the bottom of the tank laying down. This was boring, he was disappointed by the lack of attention. So, he decided to try and get some attention. He noticed fish in another tank, and he floats over, dragging his nails against the the glass. He scratched and scratched leaving shocking results before he started pounding his hands against the glass. There was a crack.

A bunch of men quickly open up the top of the tank in order to let sucba divers in, however Safiver had another idea. He was surprised they'd open up the top and he happily swam up popping up through the surface of the water. The man who opened the tank almost fell, if he hadn't caught onto the ladder. Safiver leaned over the tank as far as he could, where even a bit of his tail leaned over, putting his hand out to touch the man on the ladder. He was quicker, along with everyone else who moved back. He blinked and wiggled, trying to lean further down but he almost fell. He, after that, dipped back into their water leaving everything above his belly button above water. He was waiting for someone to try and close the tank.

Jin happened to see the commotion when he was about to head back to the lab. He couldn't help but wonder what that guy had in mind for causing such a disturbance. Did he think he could escape by cracking the tank? Or was he bored to the point that he had to do something to draw everyone's attention over to himself. 'Does he even understand the situation he's in?' Jin thought, starting to feel a little sorry for him. Although he didn't intend to cause that guy any harm, the next few days might be a bit chaotic, considering the fact that they were hardly able to communicate with each other.

"Someone takes care of the crack", a man shouted from afar, his voice was deep and brooding. It sent shivers down Jin's spine. He's the one that always disagrees with all the ideas coming from Jin, or simply put, they do not get along that well. Natural enemies are perfect words to describe their relationship. If possible, Jin would want to avoid working with him or even sitting in the same conference room, which they were about to do. In about 15min or so they would have a meeting to discuss about the new project regarding the merman. They needed to decide who's going to take care of which job to make works in the lab flow smoothly. For instance, what happened with the crack wasn't something they'd like to see again. However, 15mins would go by really fast so they got to hurry and put things back in order before they could hold a meeting peacefully.

Jin thought he should take some kind of action to show that he was also part of the team, not some stranger who just came and left whenever he felt like it although that's what he always did anyway. A small change or two wouldn't hurt. Jin took the initiative to climb up the ladder, making direct contact with the merman. He just couldn't accept the fact that they really can't communicate at all. 'Does he speak alien language or something? Don't make me laugh.', thought Jin. Instead of closing the tank, Jin held onto the rim of the tank with one hand while the other hand was reaching out to the merman. At first it was purely out of an impulse that he did it, but now he wanted to be ahead of his rival, the one with a loud voice. Anyone could easily guess that sooner or later one of the staff member would be assigned to take care of this guy so why not let himself be the chosen one... so he started off with making a good impression on the little guy. If someone was to say he's a calculating person, he definitely wouldn't deny the fact that he is one.

The childish creature was very well satisfied with himself long before he had gotten anyone up the ladder. He almost laughed watching them run around miserably taking notes and men preparing to dive into the tank beside him in order to fix the glass, like a school of fish that suddenly was being attacked by a shark. It was ridiculous, he thought, of how much of a fuss made over him.But he was glad to see everyone so willing to do all this just because he got a little bored and caused a little ruckus, but he was ever so intrigued and happy by the fact the man from before couldn't keep his eyes off him. He hadn't been to keen on the way he'd been treated before, and was happy to give himself another chance at it. He ducked back fully into the water pressing his hands and nose against the glass watching as his large amount of self satisfaction grew into a fury of narcissistic glee.

He was back up through the surface of the water before the other had even reached the top, eyes peeking out as he watched the hand grabbed onto the edge, looking at it. It had so much more pigment then his own... He set a cold clammy hand ontop of the others and swam up, grabbing the hand and pulling him so he was bent slightly over the ledge of the pool. He wanted to make this guy pay. He was a beautiful thing himself, he loved the absolute oddity that was his funky movements and his adorable clothes. But he absolutely loathed that he ignored him, that his own voice had faced him. Being strong headed as he was he was more then determined to make the man he had in such a tight grip now regret coming up here.

He smiled a tiny bit pulling him closer. He didn't say anything as one of his hands tangled through his hair before coming to his ear. He gave a confused look, tugging at it a tiny bit. His ears looked like gills on the side of his head, they were covered by his large mop of hair now but if he's swimming or his hair is up and away from.his face you can see them. He realized quickly what they were for and leaned a bit closer to them. He closed his eyes, thinking of a song, before he started to sing in a very odd language. It was a weird mash of the Nordic languages, the oldest versions mixed with an odd accent. But his voice started to crack. He wheezed, pausing a moment before he pushed Jin away. He started talking his gibberish fanatically, voice cracking and sounding strained. He didn't want to lose his voice. He almost died for this voice.

Everything happened so quickly that Jin almost lost balance and fell. Even without exchanging words, Jin felt as if he could understand the merman better now through his various expressions and odd movements. Grabbing him and pulling him over, was all that just a simple greeting that he received? Definitely not. It was a payback for ignoring the merman earlier, back on the beach. He wouldn't expect to have an ability like able to read people's mind but at least Jin was able to read his face and it was full of confidence that Jin would regret not giving him any attention like the other staffs did. This little guy didn't think that the world would center around him right? Hopefully he didn't harbor any crazy thoughts like that. Jin decided that he'd pound some common sense into that fish head once he got chosen as the caretaker.

"Jin, what are you doing up there? The meeting is about to start, hurry up and get your a$$ down here."

There it was again, the familiar voice he'd hear every time he walked into this room. It was louder than a trumpet and could be heard from miles away. The same voice that echoed in his ear 24/7. Maybe he did exaggerate a bit too much but when it came to a rival that didn't act anything like one, Jin could hardly show any respect. Their names also happened to pronounce similarly so others often joked about them being twins.

"Gin, your twin is about to fall, how about giving him a hand." Another co-worker shouted when he looked up and saw Jin was trying hard to grab the edge. People thought it was funny enough to laugh but Jin couldn't stand to smile at all. After struggling to keep his balance, Jin was finally able to get down. "You guys go first, I can't attend the meeting looking like this", said Jin, taking off his lab coat. His hair was a mess, the shirt also got wet. He had to change or else it'd affect his image of and intellectual and organized person.

Consciously he has no thoughts of being the center of the galaxy or even the center of attention to everyone here, but subconsciously he's very needy. Mermaids, like humans, are very social and with that evolution also came boredom. Boredom was a great evolution because it inspires us to do more, go out and do things instead of just basic survival skills it gave us the ability to strive towards greater things. Mermaids need alot of stimulation, more so then humans. He doesn't realize this but his subconscious knows he has to make himself the center of attention and have people react to the things he does. He can't get too bored. A normal day consists of rough housing and fighting, it was how they kept themselves entertained. Even fighting or catching fish like poisonous snakes and sharks were a normal thing. Undersimulation can cause anxiety in humans and reckless behaviour. For mers it's worse. Anxiety, depression, hysteria and just plain violence. They cannot survive in tanks.

He dropped to the bottom of the tank slowly, rubbing at his neck. He knew he'd have to hold back on singing and just talking for a while. It'd be hard, since he really also did want to build a line of communication himself in order under understands what was going on, though he almost was unconcerned that he was here. And also, he was very chatty and had almost exhausted his other means of getting attention (I.E. cracking glass). He was very smart, he was certain he could learn the language, he already had caught onto Jin's (or, in his head, the 'interesting' person's) name. Plus He was getting hungry. He looked at the crack he had made in the reflective glass. Maybe he could do something like that to get someone's attention. Seeing as though everyone was now much to terrified to come up and shut the lid to the top of his tank, and Jin had gone down forgetting about it, he devised a plan. A new way to get noticed.

He waited a while untill everyone was in the meeting, be waited into he ; he they weren't gonna come out, and he gathered up some of the smaller rocks and coral specimens at he bottom of the tank. He swam up occasionally to claw and swing at people trying to close the top of the tank, but after a while he managed to get a bunch. He grabbed an armful, swimming up and watching people. Anyone who put things in their mouth or appeared to be chewing, he threw things at. He was hungry, he wanted to get them to share, but the rocks and coral ends up cutting and hurting some people. He tossed a few more pieces of rock and coral before swimming down for more but men in wetsuits had started up the latter. They were not like the sheepish nerdy and meek scientists. They had grabbed his arm, planning on giving him a shot to make him sleep. Savier dropped a few rocks but he managed to hang onto one and he smashed the rock into his head. He looked terrified as the guy fell off the latter flat on his back, and he even swam down in the tank to check on him. He didn't protest or even react when someone closed the tank finally. Someone reported what happened to the meeting room.

Jin could careless about other meetings but only this one that he couldn't miss. After changing clothes, fixing his hair, he rushed to the conference room because they tended to start on time and wouldn't wait for anyone. Once the door closed, it wouldn't be opened until the meeting's over; this was decided to avoid interruptions. When he arrived, the seats were all filled except one next to Gin so he had no choice but to deal with it. Jin had a feeling that the seat was left empty on purpose, as if people knew something would happen during this meeting so they intentionally let him and Gin sit together. Were they trying to stir up trouble or did they seriously enjoy watching him and Gin engaging in a silent war? Whatever their intentions, Jin refused to play along with their foolish scheming. He don't blame them for wanting to have a little fun to relieve the stress, just don't get him involved. Jin sat down quietly, pretending to be clueless while maintaining his poker face.

The meeting began a few minutes later. The topic was obviously about the merman they discovered this morning but for some reason, the director didn't get straight to the main point. He was going on and on about the history of this mythical creature and how our facility was fortunate enough to be able to recover him. Hearing those crazy talk, Jin couldn't hold back his irritation. First of all, mermen were just a legend so whatever that man were saying sounded like they came straight from a fairy tale. Secondly, 'we didn't recover him, we discovered him, please get it right', thought Jin, looking even more doubtful about whether this man could actually do this his job properly. He started to feel sorry for Professor Hughes who lost the director position to such a man. Jin stole a glance at Gin, noticing those sparkling eyes and he knew instantly whose side this guy was on. No wonder they didn't get along but Jin didn't feel bother about it, at least, he wasn't the type to judge people... uh well, maybe he did a little but unlike those sitting across the table, he wouldn't say it to other people's face.

After awhile, they reached the point where they had to appoint someone to take care of the merman and the timing was quite good as well because Jin just wanted to hurry and get out of here. He didn't wait another second and quickly raised his hand, drawing everyone's attention to the other side of the table, mainly him.

"Yes?" said the director, "Got a question?"

"Not at all." answered Jin, sitting up properly, "A request I would say." He remained calm and confident when he spoke, as if he wanted to take control of the meeting or at least he wanted to turn the tables to his favor. "I believe I'm a better candidate at the job, more so than anyone here. Actually I'd say 'the best'." He then explained the reason why he nominated himself and why they should choose him over everyone else. The director seemed very contented with the reasons and from the look on everyone's face, they didn't seem to oppose the idea either. It was quite a surprise to Jin as well because he was prepared for Gin to reject this proposition, but instead this guy seemed very willing to hand over the job. At first, he didn't understand the meaning behind their cooperation and strange act of kindness until the answer became clearly when someone reported the merman's current condition. The news came as a shock to Jin and he didn't wait to be dismissed. He hurried to the lab to check on the merman since he was more worried about the merman than the man who fell. The director also came to finalize his decision and assigned the job to Jin. "If he'd just wait a few minutes for me to make the announcement. Anyway you guys tell him to take good care of our test subject", said the director.

Jin couldn't believe his eyes when he saw the mess and those hateful looks all aiming at the merman. He could easily guess what was going on without questioning them. Jin asked them to leave so that he could be alone with the merman and it was also best to give this guy some time to repent over what he did or so Jin thought. He came closer to the tank, gently knocking on the glass to alert the other of his presence. "Are you having fun?" asked Jin.

was very pouty at the bottom of the tank. He was staring at his own reflection in the one-way mirror, which he decided to finally take note on seeing as though he would probably try to avoid bothering anyone for a little bit. He didn't have to see them to know they were probably considering cooking and/or eating him. He heard that's what they do with fish. But looking into his reflection, he was clearly no fish. He rubbed his hand against the glass, tilting his head to the side to watch his hair wave and bounce a bit. He was fairly amused by his looks, but he was not at all satisfied with how feminine he actually looked. He rubbed his shoulder, then his neck. They were delicate and smooth, not broad or masculine looking in the slightest. He didn't even want to get started on his face. and just simply mushed his cheeks together for a moment to examine what it looked like. Silly, absolutely so. He didn't know the point in that either... he then went on to try and fix his hair like girls did, braiding it back and tying it up with a bit of string that was use to mark one of the coral specimens- not that he could've know that. He looked at himself again, scowling. God, he basically was a girl. He quickly unraveled his hair and went to putting some more by the coral, picking up small chunks and moving them to random spots just for the heck of it.

He soon heard a knock and hesitated before looking back towards the glass wall. No one (in the area he could see, anyways) was around except for the one guy. He looked at him, giving him a sorta 'kicked puppy' look before swimming over. He couldn't really hear what he was saying, or completely understand him since his own language was so mid-evil and developed a lot differently then the way it had on the surface. However he did learn a few songs in English and thought for a moment. Singing, not really an option. He feared so much he'd lose his voice. So gesturing maybe something he could do. Sign-language was much more common among mers anyways, seeing as they don't often speak unless above the water. Once again, though, it wasn't very similar to ASL. He did a small spinning motion with his hand before hitting his chest like a gorilla. He couldn't comprehend how stupid he must've looked to the other, but he repeated to motion a few time so he'd catch on. The spinning motion was his name.

: ^^! Sorry I didn't notice, will empty it soon XD

Jin took one or two ASL classes during high school year and yet he still couldn't understand what the merman was trying to tell him. But he could tell that taking care of this guy would be a lot worse than dealing with Gin because it would be hard to communicate with someone who couldn't understand his language. The young man continued to observe the merman for a little longer then looked up at the ceiling, closing his eyes and letting out a deep sigh. He began to wonder ... whether he had made the right decision or not ... or perhaps he shouldn't nominate himself after all. No one wanted the job, except him, and he could see it clearly in their eyes and attitudes. Their reactions were even more obvious to someone like him, who didn't care about what people were thinking. Jin didn't know what to say or how to respond to the merman's strange movements so he could only stand there and watch him until it seemed like the other had stopped spinning.

Meanwhile, he felt a vibration coming from his back pocket, assuming it could only be his phone. He took it out and checked whose message it was. Gin's? The young man smirked, a bit surprised and curious about the content. He opened up the message and couldn't believe how short it was, four words and that was it, "You got the job." Right when he was about to turn it off, another message arrived, "Congratulations!". Now it was shortened to one word, but he actually preferred the first one because it was straight to the point and didn't sound like Gin was being sarcastic. At least he didn't had that feeling while reading the message.

Jin knocked on the glass again to get the merman's attention. He knew the other wouldn't understand what he was going to say but he still wanted this guy to hear the news, and whether it was good or bad, he couldn't say at this point, not until his real assignment started. "Looks like I was given the job as your 'nanny'. I just received the confirmation, so in a day or two, you'll be transferred to my place. Hopefully things will be better over there, for you and me." After that, he returned to his work station to fill out some request form because he didn't have permission to bring the merman back to his place yet and that required approval from the higher-ups. Although Jin was taking his time to fill out the papers, he only did it for the record. He wasn't interested in the whole process of getting it approved.
